Yoga is the original mind body medicine and is one of the greatest treasures of the unique Indian cultural heritage. As both an art and science it has a lot to offer humankind in terms of an understanding of both the human mind as well as all aspects of our multilayered existence. Yogic lifestyle, Yogic diet, Yogic attitudes and various Yogic practices help man to strengthen himself and develop positive health thus enabling him to withstand stress better. This Yogic “health insurance” is achieved by normalizing the perception of stress, optimizing the reaction to it and by releasing it effectively through various practices. Yoga is truly a wholesome and integral science of life that deals with multidimensional aspects of health in both the individual and society.
Yoga helps us to take the appropriate attitude towards our challenges and thus tackle them effectively and efficiently. “To have the will (iccha shakti) to change (kriya shakti) that which can be changed, the strength to accept that which cannot be changed, and the wisdom (jnana shakti) to know the difference” is the attitude that needs to the cultivated. An attitude of letting go of the worries, the problems and a greater understanding of our mental process helps to create a harmony in our body, and mind whose disharmony is the main cause of ‘aadi – vyadhi’ or psychosomatic disorders.
“Health and happiness are your birthright, claim them and develop them to your maximum potential” (Giri, 1995). This message of Swamiji Gitananda Giri Guru Maharaj is a firm reminder that the goal of human existence is not health and happiness but is moksha (liberation). Most people today are so busy trying to find health and happiness that they forget why they are here in the first place. Yoga is the best way for us to regain our birthrights and attain the goal of our human existence.
In modern times when the terms Yoga and Yoga therapy have become synonymous, this paper is but a small attempt to put into perspective what Yoga therapy can offer us as an integrative system of wholistic well being.

Yoga is an ancient art that originated from India and was developed by the Indus-Sarasvati civilization in Northern India over 5000 years ago. The word Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit root word Yuj meaning to bind. Yoga is the most favorable method to connect to nature by balancing the mind and body. The word Yoga was first mentioned in the oldest sacred texts, the Rig Veda. Adi Yogi Shiva is the founder of Yoga. One who follows the path of Yoga is YOGI or YOGIN. YOGI simply means an expert teacher.

Overview
In simpler terms, Evolutionary Genetics is the study to understand how genetic
variation leads to evolutionary change.
Evolutionary Genetics attempts to account for evolution in terms of changes in gene
and genotype frequencies within populations and the processes that convert the
variation with populations into more or less permanent variation between species.
The central challenge of Evolutionary Genetics is to describe how the evolutionary
forces shape the patterns of biodiversity.
Evolutionary Genetics majorly deals with;
a. Evolution of genome structure
b. The genetic basis of speciation and adaptation
c. Genetic change in response to selection within populations
Overview
Industrial fermentations comprise both upstream (USP) and downstream processing
(DSP) stages. USP involves all factors and processes leading to and including the
fermentation. It consists of three main areas: the producer organism, the medium
and the fermentation process.

RNA TRANSPOSABLE ELEMENTS (COPIA) IN Drosophila
within host genomes.
As TEs comprise more than 40% of the human genome and are linked to
numerous diseases, understanding their mechanisms of mobilization and
regulation is important.
Drosophila melanogaster is an ideal model organism for the study of eukaryotic
TEs as its genome contains a diverse array of active TEs.
Also referred to as “jumping genes,” TEs move, or transpose, to different locations
throughout the genomes in which they reside.
Basics of Undergraduate/university fellows
Transcription is more complicated in eukaryotes than in prokaryotes because
eukaryotes possess three different classes of RNA polymerases and because of the
way in which transcripts are processed to their functional forms.
More proteins and transcription factors are involved in eukaryotic transcription.
One of the first plausible models to account for the preceding observations was
formulated by Robin Holliday.
The key features of the Holliday model are the formation of heteroduplex DNA; the
creation of a cross bridge; its migration along the two heteroduplex strands,
termed branch migration; the occurrence of mismatch repair; and the
subsequent resolution, or splicing, of the intermediate structure to yield different
typesof recombinant molecules.
A Vitamin is an organic compound by an organism as a vital nutrient in limited
amounts.
• We need vitamins in our diet, because our bodies can’t synthesize them quickly
enough to meet our daily needs.
• The term vitamin was derived from ‘vitamine’ meaning vital and amine.
• It was coined by K FUNK (1912).

Supernumerary chromosomes are the additional or extra chromosomal set present in a
cell, which are dissimilar to normal A-Chromosomal set in the species.
They are also called as Accessory Chromosomes and lack homologous chromosome part.
In wild populations, around 100 animal species, 600 plant species especially fungi
contain supernumerary / B-chromosomes
Basics of Undergraduate/university fellows
Paired chromosome in meiosis in immature amphibian eggs, in which the chromatin
forms large stiff loops extending out from the linear axis of the chromosome
The lampbrush chromosomes derive their name from the lateral loops that extrude from
the chromomeres at certain point.
They are very transcriptionally active DNA, where loops of DNA emerging from an
apparently continuous chromosomal axis are coated with RNA polymerase.
Basics of Undergraduate/university fellows
Since, these chromosomes were discovered in the salivary gland cells, they are called
as "Salivary Gland Chromosomes".
The present name polytene chromosome was suggested by kollar due to the
occurrence of many chromonemata (DNA) in them.
Bridges (~1936) 1st constructed a salivary chromosome map of D melanogaster and
found 5000 special bands in polytene chromosomes.
Basics of Undergraduate/university fellows
In some organisms, there are special tissues in which chromosomes undergo structural
specializations.
Such specialized chromosomes are generally termed as SPECIAL TYPES OF
CHROMOSOMES
Basics of Undergraduate/university fellows
Crossing over is exchange of strictly homologous segments of a genome between their
respective non-sister chromatids during cell division, which results in chromosomal
recombinations of linked genes in daughter cells.
Basics of Undergraduate/university fellows
Nucleosome model of chromosome is proposed by ROGER KORNBERG (son of Arthur
Kornberg) in 1974.
It was confirmed and crystalised by P. Oudet et al., (1975).
Nucleosome is the lowest level of Chromosome organization in eukaryotic cells.
Nucleosome model is a scientific model which explains the organization of DNA and
associated proteins in the chromosomes.
Nucleosome model also explains the exact mechanism of the folding of DNA in
thenucleus.
It is the most accepted model of chromatin organization.

Epistasis is a Greek word that means standing over.
BATESON used term epistasis to describe the masking effect in 1909
The term epistasis describes a certain relationship between genes, where an allele of
one gene hides or masks the visible output or phenotype of another gene.
When two different genes which are not alleles, both affect the same character in such
a way that the expression of one masks (inhibits or suppresses) the expression of the
other gene, the phenomenon is said to be epistasis.
The gene that suppresses other gene expression is known as Epistatic gene.
The gene that is suppressed or remain obscure is called Hypostatic gene
The classical phenotypic ratio of 9:3:3:1 F2 ratio becomes modified by epistasis.
Basics of Undergraduate/university fellows
In supplementary gene action, the dominant allele of one gene is essential for the
development of the concerned phenotype, while the other gene modifies the expression of the first gene.
Basics of Undergraduate/university fellows
Complementation between two non-allelic genes (C and P) are essential for production
of a particular or special phenotype i.e., complementary factor.
Two genes involved in a specific pathway and their functional products are required
for gene expression, then one recessive allelic pair at either allelic pair would result in
the mutant phenotype.
When Dominant alleles are present together, they complement each other to yield
complementary factor resulting in a special phenotype.
They are called complementary genes.
When either of gene loci have homozygous recessive alleles (i.e., genotypes of ccPP,
ccPp, CCpp, Ccpp and ccpp), they produce identical phenotypes and change F2 ratio
to 9:7.
Basics for undergraduate/university students
The phenomenon of two or more genes affecting the expression of each other in various
ways in the development of a single character of an organism is known as GENE
INTERACTION.

Flu Vaccine Alert in Bangalore Karnatakaaddon Scans
As flu season approaches, health officials in Bangalore, Karnataka, are urging residents to get their flu vaccinations. The seasonal flu, while common, can lead to severe health complications, particularly for vulnerable populations such as young children, the elderly, and those with underlying health conditions.
Dr. Vidisha Kumari, a leading epidemiologist in Bangalore, emphasizes the importance of getting vaccinated. "The flu vaccine is our best defense against the influenza virus. It not only protects individuals but also helps prevent the spread of the virus in our communities," he says.
This year, the flu season is expected to coincide with a potential increase in other respiratory illnesses. The Karnataka Health Department has launched an awareness campaign highlighting the significance of flu vaccinations. They have set up multiple vaccination centers across Bangalore, making it convenient for residents to receive their shots.
To encourage widespread vaccination, the government is also collaborating with local schools, workplaces, and community centers to facilitate vaccination drives. Special attention is being given to ensuring that the vaccine is accessible to all, including marginalized communities who may have limited access to healthcare.
Residents are reminded that the flu vaccine is safe and effective. Common side effects are mild and may include soreness at the injection site, mild fever, or muscle aches. These side effects are generally short-lived and far less severe than the flu itself.
Healthcare providers are also stressing the importance of continuing COVID-19 precautions. Wearing masks, practicing good hand hygiene, and maintaining social distancing are still crucial, especially in crowded places.
Protect yourself and your loved ones by getting vaccinated. Together, we can help keep Bangalore healthy and safe this flu season. For more information on vaccination centers and schedules, residents can visit the Karnataka Health Department’s official website or follow their social media pages.
Stay informed, stay safe, and get your flu shot today!

1. INTRODUCTION
In ancient times, our Indian ancestors had discovered the way to lead life with full of
happiness, peaceful mind, Healthy habits by doing yoga, pranayama & meditation in their
routine life. They have been successful in using these in their life. The technique of uniting
mind with body is called YOGA.The method of producing prana, the positive energy within
the body is called PRANAYAMA. The ultimate way to attain relaxation from stress is called
MEDITATION.
YOGA PRANAYAMA MEDITATION
2. OBJECTIVES
To discover the scientific effect of yoga, pranayama & meditation in human (Homo
sapiens).
To implement the positive effect of yoga, pranayama & meditation so as;
to cure health problems & genetic diseases
to improve the physical & mental conditions
to have peaceful &healthy mind
3. METHODOLOGY
The information was updated based on the research guidelines; SAY (Shahja Astanga
Yoga) camps, Self experience, journal & survey conducted on the people after completing
course on yoga, pranayama & meditation.
2. 4. INFORMATION
a. According to Journal of alternative & complementary medicine, YOGA stimulates the vagus
nerve, which triggers the release of GABA in the brain. GABA (Gamma amino butyric acid)
is a neurotransmitter, a chemical which controls signaling in the nervous system. GABA is
inhibitory, reduces the neuron firing, and thus reduces anxiety level, increases tranquility&
revitalization.
b. According to Study Psychology in USA, the stretching & exercise that comes with YOGA
actually increases a person’s flexibity, in turn, allows relaxation which lowers the stress.
c. According to SAY, Meditation helps to attain peaceful, relaxed & healthy mind. During
meditational stage the person is not expecting anything from the external sources & feels
him as Shunya, neither is he reacting to thoughts nor thoughts are harming him.
Henceforth, he is trained to face the upcoming circumstances & solve the problem with
patience.
d. According to the survey, after meditation people were tranquil, calm & were experiencing
inner happiness. They experienced positive energy in themselves, which proves that
meditation lowers the stress. The scientific reason being, Meditation relaxes all nerves &
blood flow drastically comes to balanced level.
3. e. According Buddha, Gandhi ji, Swami Vivekananda & many other great people, meditation
plays an important role in having the balanced mental state & only those could donate to
mother India. They all did meditate daily & grasped the positive energy within themselves &
gave their life serving all. It showcases that the people develop self confidence gradually
when they meditate; because of peacefulness the brain is getting sufficient energy.
f. According to SAY, Pranayama helps in Producing the Prana (positive energy) & activate
all the chakras, improves health condition, cures diabetes, blood pressure, digestion
disorders, arthritis, arteriosclerosis, chronic fatigue, asthma & heart defects, also used
to treat mentally challenged people. The posture of each pranayama has its positive effect on
nerve & its function. It makes us energetic & active.
g. According to Shahja Astanga Yoga, the pranayama can be used as medicine to cure
headache, muscle pain, heart pain, abnormal breathing, and chest pain. As, the energy
PRANA produced can be directed to specific part of the body.
4. 5. SUGGESTIONS
Now onwards stop using harmful chemical tablets with side effects & use traditionally
developed yoga, pranayama & meditation to lead a happy, peaceful, disease-free life!
6. CONCLUSION
Indian traditional boons yoga, pranayama & meditation are of multiple use with positive
effects on humans. We can completely rely on it, as it has no side effect, provided trained
guru is available. It even cures many diseases such diabetes. If yoga, pranayama &
meditation are made a compulsory course in education, we would have a peaceful, healthier,
intelligent generation ahead.
