1. HEALTH DEVELOPMENT AND NATION BUILDING THROUGH YOGA
Yoga is not a religion.it is a way of living whose aim is a healthy body in a healthy
mind. The word yoga is a Sanskrit word ‘yuj’ which means to connect, join or balance ..
it gives full control over our body and mind thereby keeping us mentally, physically,
spiritually fit and fine.
The modern material science has invented many deadly weapons, also the hydrogen
bomb, atom bomb which can destroy all animals all human races from this earth only in
few minutes. But, the modern yoga-science in India has invented such a miracle &
helpful constructive weapon, which can save all human beings from senility, disease
and untimely death thereby extending our longevity over 125 years to 150 years by
showing the pathway to a higher life, full of peace and bliss. This yogic system can save
us from premature death and make our lives a blissful one.
By the application of ‘yogic therapy’ health development happens with full accuracy.
by the application of ‘sat-karma’, asanas, mudras, pranayama, meditations.
We can prevent every disease and also, we can cure every disease.
But before discussing about these processes, we should mention about Patanjali monies
ashtanga yoga (or the eight limbs of yoga) which speaks about the external and
internal purification as well as about the moral & ethical values.
ASHTANGA YOGA:
The eight parts are---
YAMA- these are framed to keep the human society united and to uplift it. There are
five Yama as given below:

2)Satya- truthfulness; to speak the truth.
2. 3)Astea- non-stealing
4)Brahmacharya- continence. Purity in sexual life.
5)Aparigrah- not to possess things beyond our actual needs.
NIYAMA-Niyama plays an important role in observing our own personal conduct.
According to rishi Patanjali, they are five-
1) Shaucha- cleanliness-external & internal cleanliness.
2) Santosh- contentment of through & desires.
3) Tapa- it is the equanimity of mind even in the most adverse circumstances.
4) Swadhyaya- study of religious scriptures according to ones religious believes.
5) Ishwarpranidhana- to know that god is omnipotent and omnipresent.
ASANA- “sthir sukham asana” is the definition. Asana means holding a particular
posture which is comfortable and which is maintained with ease.asana gives
stability and comfort. Asanas are classified in three groups:
a)cultural or corrective asana for posture modifications.
b)meditative asana for Dhyana -sukhasana,padmasana,sidhasana.
c)relaxative asana are those which remove tension and bring about physical and
mental relaxation. e.g.-shavasana,makrasana,yoganidra.
PRANAYAMA-it is the expansion(ayama) of the breath of life(prana) as is
indicated by this word in short practically means the name of a system of
methodical breathing exercises, which increases the “vital force” and extend life
and perfection where in ensures victory over diseases, senile decay and
premature death.ptanayama has three components:
Puraka-inhalation
Rechaka-exhalation
Khumbhaka-holding the breath
Ratio will be: puraka:khumbhaka:rechaka=1:4:2
(but initially only puraka and rechaka are done in ratio of 1:2 meaning
exhalation should be prolonged than inhalation.
PRATYAHARA-(withdrawal of senses) a mental preparation to increase the
power of mind.
3. DHARANA-(concentration on object).
Concentration of mind on one object and its field.
DHYANA-(meditation).
Withdrawing mind from all external objects and focusing it on one point and
meditating on it.
SAMADHI-(salvation). State of super bliss, joy and merging individual
consciousness in to universal consciousness. Union between jivatman and
paramatman.union of Shiva and shakti in sahasrar chakra (the top of the head)
realizing the bramhan (pure consciousness) or realization of god is the ultimate
achievement of human birth.
The asanas, prana yams, mudras, shat-karmas, meditations keeps us externally
and internally fit and fine. If we practice these process then all our systems like
respiratory, circulatory, glandular, reproductive, excretory, nervous etc.
Systems remains healthy, also it boosts our immune system, removes toxicity
from the body and mind, enhances longevity, physical-mental-spiritual
upliftment happens.
Yoga connects the people of our entire country country into a single platform.
Also it leaves behind a great message among different countries of the world
about universal peace and brotherhood. Now a days yoga has been introduced
globally. This is the consecutive 5th
time where we are going to celebrate the
international day of yoga throughout the whole world with full spirit and
enthusiasm.
Yoga enhances national integration.it has a great role to play in nation building.
Our youths are the backbone of our country. It is seen that due to the practice of
yoga among our youths, their work efficiency has been increased. They hold a
great degree of patience and self -confidence as a result of yoga practicing.

commercially benefitted from yoga where they have been able to earn their
bread & butter from yoga with a honest profession.
Yoga directly uplift our human resource. Even it also has the credit to develop a
feeling of patriotism among our brothers & sisters. Those who practice yoga,
