2. Grape Case Summary
The purpose of seeking mediation with Alexis Fairchild is that the Grape Producer of the Muscadine
product line and I can come to a meeting of the minds resulting with mutual resolution. This
memorandum will provide the facts of the case, contract at issue, legal issues, suggested remedies, and
conditions to achieve settlement resolution.
Facts of the Case
The Grape producer which was my wife s Sunday school teacher and I entered a professional business
relationship after I revealed to him that I was interested in expanding and growing my business by
adding new product lines. Subsequently, he introduced me to the Muscadine products that his family
produced, resulting with me sampling the products and ultimately because of the product line success,
I increased shipments and heavily promoted the items with marketing and advertising. Moreover,
because of the Grape Producer s ability to supply me with all the product I needed when I needed it,
and at the consistent prices over the last 6 months I decided to formalize our implied contract in which
both merchants provided product for payment without a formal written contract (Kubasek et al.,

3. Effects Of Hawaiian Tourism
Hawaii s beautiful terrain, clear ocean waters, and year around tropical climate temperatures,
combined with the people s Aloha and welcoming spirit has made the islands one of the most
attractive location in the world to visit. In 1997, 158,000 individuals visited Hawaii each day, and the
annual tourist arrival count was 6.8 million. (Luciano). Although Hawaii s tourism business has
improved the socio economic condition for many that has made Hawaii their home, there have been
negative impacts to Native Hawaiians with second and third order effects that go unseen behind the
ocean front hotels, luaus, and tourist attractions. Hawaii has become a major tourist destination that
receives over six million visitors per year. One of a major contributor to the Hawaiian economy, so
much that it generates 10 billion dollars per year to the economy. (Lukasz). Because of tourism, the
negative impact on the Native Hawaiians has been eye opening for the economic effects and even
globalization. At home, specific negative effects include overbuilding to accommodate increased
population densities, low income jobs, and mistreatment from tourists.
Visitor expenditures in 1980 made up 24% of the Gross State Product. In 1988, this figure had
increased to 43%. (Patterson). The growth of Hawaii s domestic product has come from an increase in
new businesses, jobs produced by state, city, and federal governments, construction, and the tourism

4. How Did Nationalism Affect Italy At The Turn Of The 18th...
In the 1800 s, a new sense swept throughout Europe, uprooting the old order of Europe. Nationalism, a
belief that people s greatest loyalty should be to a nation of people who share a common culture and
history. So strong that it challenged the old order of Europe by inspiring revolutions and helping Italy
and Germany to unite and in return uproot the past European order. By 1815, the Congress of Vienna
had ended and in return created five great powers: England, France, Austria, Prussia, and Russia. The
Congress of Vienna ensured that monarchies would keep their thrones through the principle of
legitimacy, successfully oppressing smaller countries. However, nationalism spread throughout
Europe and uprooted the hold of the old order of Europe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the Greeks were spurred by nationalistic feeling and rebelled against the Ottoman Turks
in 1821. Revolution was opposed by the powerful European governments, but popular support for the
Greeks grew throughout Europe. The Russians felt a connection to the Greek orthodox Christians who
were ruled by Muslim Ottomans and educated Europeans and Americans loved and respected ancient
Greek culture. This eventually leads to a combined British, French, and Russian fleet destroying the
Ottoman fleet in the Battle of Navarino in 1827. In 1830, Britain, France, and Russia signed a treaty
ensuring and independent kingdom of Greece. In addition, Nationalism also led to the disunification
of Russia. The czars of Russia tried to force Russian culture on millions of people of different ethnic
groups in the empire. This strengthened nationalistic feeling among groups as they fought for their
freedom. These two revolutions resulted in the destruction of the Russian and Ottoman empire. The
shock of World War I and revolutions throughout their own empire led to the destruction of their
empire. In summary, nationalistic feelings erupted after the two empires forced people to unite under
one heritage but people believed that they should unite under those of their own

5. The Picture Of Dorian Gray And Atlas Shrugged By Ayn Rand
It is a very well known trope of literature to pin characters against society or social expectations.
Nearly every piece of literature has some character who is displeased with how everybody else does
something, it does not make any difference what the thing is. Following this near necessary pattern,
The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde and Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand have vital characters
who act differently than society hopes and expects. In The Picture of Dorian Gray, Dorian Gray and
Lord Henry Wotton are the main characters who represent the struggle of the individual versus society,
each in their own way. Lord Henry s philosophy is very self centered, with his own pleasures being
central to all aspects of his life. This belief system rubs off on Dorian early in the novel and as it
progresses, Dorian seems to care less and less about how society perceives him. He hides his true self
away from society and throws common practice, even laws, out the window. Dorian becomes a being
who lives only to please himself through whatever means. Atlas Shrugged has some self centered
characters of its own, stemming from Ayn Rand s philosophy of objectivism and her belief that self
preservation and self interest are the truest goals in life. Dagny Taggart and Hank Rearden represent
this belief Rand holds so dear. On the other hand, Jim Taggart is shown as weak and nearly pathetic
due to his need to please everyone and fear of blame. He conforms to society so as to avoid conflict

6. Who Is Iago Evil In Othello
It is not love that is blind, but jealousy. Many characters in William Shakespeare s Othello face the
green eyed monster that is jealousy, but no one like the valiant Moor general himself, Othello. Othello
s trusted and honest ensign, Iago, instills the deep envy within Othello towards his once favorite
lieutenant, Cassio. Iago serves as the play s main antagonist as he expresses profound hatred towards
both Cassio and Othello, calling for their demise. He manipulates many situations and words of others
to make it appear to Othello that his lovely wife, Desdemona, is having an affair with Cassio. Based
solely on circumstantial evidence Iago provides, Othello is fueled with anger and jealousy that
completely deprives him of thoughtful judgement. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Iago is able to use these desirable traits he possesses as well as his strong friendship with Desdemona
to add fire to Othello s insecurities regarding their marriage. Iago has created this destructive jealousy

position as lieutenant after one incident and plans on death to Cassio. Cassio avoids speaking with
Othello as he is embarrassed of the scene he caused, however, Cassio is unaware as of Act III of the
affair claims. When speaking with Desdemona, *Enter Othello and Iago*/...Madam, I ll take my
leave.../*Cassio exits* (III.iii.32). Cassio fleeing the scene when Othello arrives makes him look very
suspicious and allows for Iago to state Cassio is guilty, explaining the questionable exit. Othello s
interactions, or lack thereof, with Cassio display how jealousy silently takes over his whole body, to

7. The Power Of Power In Theseus And Cupid And Psyche
In Greek mythology, power is used negatively for their own advantage, however, in some parts of the
stories, power is used positively to help others as well. The text Mythology, by Edith Hamilton,
includes the history as well as the classic myths of Greek Mythology. Power is demonstrated both
positively and negatively in the stories of Theseus and Cupid and Psyche . Some characters with
power and status use their control for jealous intentions and revenge whereas, others use it for the
greater good of others. Firstly, characters such as Theseus and Jupiter use their power positively
towards other people. Other higher status personalities, such as King Aegeus and Psyche s elder
sisters, use their power negatively due to jealousy. Similarly, Minos and Venus use their power for
revenge against those who take something dear to themselves. Most characters use their power
negatively, however, there is evidence characters use their power selfishly, some use their power
responsibly. Theseus and his father, King Aegeus made a promise that when Theseus returns to Athens
he will change the sail of his ship from black to white to confirm that he is alive. On his way back to
Athens, Theseus forgets to change to ships sail. King Aegeus notices the black flag and thinks that
Theseus is dead and decides to kill himself. So Theseus became King of Athens, a most wise and
disinterested king. He declared to the people that he did not wish to rule over them; he wanted a

8. The Process Of Manufacture Is Different Per Company
The process of manufacture is different per company and varies greatly between not only company but
cheeses as there are so many variables which can be used to alter the moisture, colour, texture and
taste of a cheese. Bega has a simplified version which is easier to understand and eliminates much of
the jargon normally used.
The milk is milked from the dairy cattle either by a robotic or semi automatic system. This milk is
stored at 4°c until the tests have been carried out to determine the quality of the milk and what type of
cheese this would best fit. Once these tests have been carried out to ensure the quality and the safety
of the milk then the first step is standardisation . This is where the components (protein and fat) are ...

Pasteurisation is the sterilisation step which is required by legislation to ensure that all pathogenic
bacteria are killed to make the milk and any bi products safe for human consumption. The process of
pasteurisation is that of the milk being heated to a minimum of 72 75°c (depending on the company)
for at least 15 seconds. This kills off the harmful pathogenic bacteria. This process is done in a way so
that the milk may be heated without burning the milk which would cause a taste and colour change.
The milk passes through a series of plates under pressure; these plates are heated by steam that is used
to heat water and in turn heat the plates. This in turn heats the milk to the desired temperature to
complete pasteurisation. To cool the milk without freezing the milk, the process is similar but a
complete polar opposite. The milk is put through another series of plates that are cooled by chilled
water that in turn cools the milk to a set temperature . The cooling to a set temperature is done prior to
being added to the cheese making vats. The vats typically may have a capacity of 14,000 litres each
but may vary between each manufacturing site. By the time the last vat, usually the eighth) is filled
then the first will have been emptied (the milk used), washed and is ready to fill again so that there is
always milk ready to use at any time rather than all being ready to use at the same time.

9. Romanticism During The Romantic Period
The Romantic Period
Romanticism (1820 1900) in music was brought to the world during the early nineteenth century. This
music stressed emotion, imagination, and individualism. The Romantic period was about freedom of
expression and breaking away from time honored conventions.
This period in time had influenced many, or even all of the arts. Painters used bolder and more
brilliant colors in their works. Also, they had preferred dynamic motion to gracefully balanced poses.
Poetry was also changed during the Romantic Period. Emotional subjectivity was a basic quality in
every type of art during this time. Many artists had become romantics and had become drawn to the
realm of fantasy: the unconscious, the irrational, and the world of dreams. Romantics were fascinated
with the Middle Ages, the time of chivalry and romance. What neoclassicists had thought of to be the
dark ages , the romantics had cherished.

None of these were entirely to replace the Romantic impulse. Hard bitten naturalism in fiction and
film coexists today with sweeping romanticism; there are large audiences for both. The contemporary
vogue for Victorian designs is just one of many examples of the frequent revivals of Romantic tastes
and styles that have recurred throughout the twentieth century.
Looking back over the list of characteristics discussed above one can readily see that despite the fact
that Romanticism was not nearly as coherent a movement as the Enlightenment, and lacked the sort of
programmatic aims the latter professed, it was even more successful in changing history changing the
definition of what it means to be human.

The romantic period emphasised the self, creativity, imagination and the value of art. This is in
contrast to the Enlightenment emphasis on Rationalism and

10. What I Think About The World Of Personalities Has Been...
Introduction: What is the first thing you think of when someone says the word personality? Do you
think along the lines of birth order or someone being outgoing or shy? Those are both normal thoughts
of what personalities are. Always I would immediately think of the four temperaments. In my research
I plan to prove that personalities come in different temperaments known as choleric, melancholy,
sanguine, and phlegmatic. I will be explaining and talking about each one; Where they came from,
how they are different, similar, and what they mean, and also how certain temperaments people have
affect how they get along with others and what jobs suit them better and why.

interest was my curiosity of what personality I personally have and how everyone is so uniquely
different. The four temperaments are what I m going to branch off of. The four temperaments are
choleric, melancholy, sanguine and phlegmatic. Cholerics are often found to be the Alpha of our
species, known as being dominant leaders, being more extrovert. Melancholic is definition of
perfectionist who is introverted and sensitive. Phlegmatics are very submissive, indecisive people

12. Analysis Of George Green s Spell Of The Magic Play
Spell of the Magic Play by George Green Just like a vivid dream with the most energetic scenes, Spell
of the Magic Play will take you on an adventure. This piece not only makes the viewer question what
reality is, but it also pulls you into another dimension. It is booming with colorful energy at all angles,
and will make any adult feel like a child again. Strategically placed acrylic paint is smoothly brushed
on birch wood, creating multiple square and rectangular shapes. These shapes of colors are so precise
in angle, that it s almost as if they were part of the wood itself. Tiny squares of color are scattered

utumn Petrolina Hayes, Andrew Anthropology 130 22 February 2016 Pentecostalism Pentecostalism
is one of the major denominations of Protestant Christianity that originated from the Holiness Revival
of the 19th century. The Pentecostal Movement began in Topeka, Kansas at Bethel Bible College,
established by Charles Parham who taught that speaking in tongues was a spiritual gift that
demonstrated as evidence of baptism with the Holy Spirit, a distinct type of baptism experienced in
chapter two of the book of Acts on the day of Pentecost. On January 1st of 1901, Agnes Ozman, a
student at Bethel Bible School, was the first person to speak in tongues after being baptized with The
Holy Spirit. This marks the beginning of the Pentecostal Revival. In 1905, Parham began preaching in
Houston, Texas where he began a smaller bible school. According to Kevin Sack, a journalist for The
New York Times, an African American pastor named William Seymour would attend Parham s
services though he was made to sit outside the room and listen through a cracked door. Parham s
teachings of baptism with the Holy Spirit enveloped Seymour, who took this new theology to Los
Angeles in 1906 where he temporarily pastored a small African American Holiness Church. The
church rejected Seymour s claims on tongues as proof of baptism with The Holy Spirit. The pastor of
the church, Julia Hitchins, was outraged by Seymour s sermon and kicked him out of the church.

16. The Effects Of Standardized Cognitive Tests On Student...
There is an exorbitant amount of focus on standardized cognitive tests in K 12 education today
particularly measures of intelligence and achievement. The usefulness of these tests notwithstanding,
they are limited in that they provide an incomplete picture of a student s abilities and needs. Having
worked 14 years as an English teacher at Bergen County Technical School of Paramus (Bergen Tech),
a vocational technical high school with a predominantly special needs population, I find it unfortunate
that the educational psychologists with whom I work have in recent years been directed to focus on
cognitive tests such as the Woodcock Johnson Test of Achievement and the Wechsler Adult
Intelligence Scale, to the exclusion of non cognitive measures that could provide insight into student
emotional health and personality. For school staff endeavoring to help students negotiate the path to
adulthood and guide them toward brighter more fulfilling futures, personality assessment could be
used to help clarify needs, determine the severity of problems, make predictions about future
behaviors, and aid in educational recommendations.
It is necessary to highlight some of the complications unique to Bergen Tech Paramus and other vo
tech schools so as to fully appreciate the potential benefit of reintroduction of regular personality
testing. Unlike the trade schools prevalent in Western Europe, which are regarded as normal and
respectable paths to gainful employment, vo tech schools in the

The quantitative stoichiometric relationships dealing with mass and amount will be studied using the
combustion reaction of magnesium metal. While heated in the crucible, magnesium reacts with
oxygen from the air, and the masses before and after the oxidation are measured. The resulting masses
are used to calculate the experimental empirical formula of magnesium oxide. With the empirical
formula, we can then compare it to the theoretical empirical formula. Using a crucible and a Bunsen
burner, the magnesium metal will be heated to a burning.
Simple combustion experiments conducted with crucibles, burners, and balances provide a great deal

From the masses of magnesium and oxygen that combine, we can calculate the empirical formula of
magnesium oxide. We will weigh the magnesium before it combines with the oxygen, and we will also
weigh the product of the reaction, magnesium oxide. The final weighing is necessary because we need
to subtract the original weight of magnesium from the weight of this product. When magnesium is
heated in open air, its reaction with oxygen is quick and intense. The metal catches fire, burning with
an vivid white flame with the production of white smoke. We can slow down the reaction by putting a
cover on the crucible. Doing so limits the supply of oxygen that reaches the magnesium. Magnesium
is such an active metal that it reacts with the relatively inactive element nitrogen: magnesium +
nitrogen magnesium nitride. This occurs alongside the reaction of magnesium with oxygen, so it is
called a side reaction. Fortunately it is possible to undo the reaction in this way: magnesium nitride +
water magnesium hydroxide + ammonia or magnesium hydroxide magnesium oxide + water vapor. To
get those last two reactions to occur, we add water to the crucible contents at the end of the first
heating period. We then heat again to speed up the reactions to evaporate any excess

20. Types And Types Of Diabetes Essay
Abstract:
Type 2 diabetes is one of the most prevalent chronic disease that is present around the world. Type 2
diabetes is generally chaacterised by decrease in B cell mass function and decrease in the sensitivity of
insulin in the peripheral tissues. Beta cell dysfunctioning decrease the release of amylin and insulin in
response to increased blood glucose levels and this is thought to be affected by misfolded amylin
proteins where the cytotoxicity from amylin oligomers affects the function of islet beta cells via
several mechanisms and affecting the signaling pathway and apoptosis of beta cells.
Introduction:
There are 2 major types of diabetes in humans which revolves around the control of blood sugar level.
These 2 types of diabetes are type 1 and type 2. Type 1 diabetes is characterized by total destruction of
insulin secreting cells which is the worst case scenario in terms of diabetes progression and would
normally require insulin replacement therapy. However type 2 diabetes might be characterized by a
progressive deterioration of insulin secreting cells which could secrete insulin however it might not be
sufficient in glucose homeostasis or development of resistance to insulin in peripheral tissues. Type 2
diabetes is one of the most prevalent diseases around the world which could be responsible for other
complications such as heart attack, stroke, blindness, renal failure etc. Type 2 diabetes has been
hypothesized been caused by misfolded amylin species mediate

ETL plays an important role in building the Data Warehouse. In the traditional way of ETL, all the
analysis, activities and operations are stopped and then the refreshment of data warehouse will be
done. Since this will be done in off peak hours, the Data Warehouse will not be having the latest
operational transactions and hence there is no freshness of data. This problem is called by Data
Latency. Near Real time Data Warehousing is a solution for this problem. It will update the Data
Warehouse in near real time manner, immediately after change data detected in data source. Thus, data
latency can be minimized.
In order to develop the near real time data warehouse, there are problems which were previously not
found in the traditional ETL process. The objective of this dissertation is to find the solutions for the
problems at each stage of

22. Disadvantages Of Stockholm Syndrome
Stockholm syndrome is the psychological tendency of a hostage to bond with, identify with, or
sympathize with his or her captor. Despite the danger and the harm inflicted on the victims by their
captors, victims feel strong emotional ties and a positive relationship with their captors. Imagine this
situation: Something terrifying comes out of the blue you are kidnapped or otherwise taken hostage,
and you are certain that you will die sooner or later. Then, you experience what psychiatrist Dr. Frank
Ochberg describes as a type of infantilisation: like a child, cannot eat, speak, or go to the toilet without
permission. You interpret the lack of abuse as an act of kindness, and other acts, such as being given
food, evokes gratitude within you you do not think about or accept the fact that this person, who is the
only one keeping you alive, is simultaneously keeping you hostage and put you in that situation to

Children who have witnessed the abuse committed by their father figure are likely to be in the same
untenable situation as their mothers: isolated, threatened, perceiving no way to escape, and shown at
least an occasional kindness, however small. In fact, they are likely to be even less able to escape and
even more dependent on the abusive father than the battered woman who is their mother. They too,
therefore, are likely to develop Stockholm Syndrome. When this happens, they are put in the position
of having to bond with the abuser and may even have to abuse their mother themselves, in order to
win favor with their father. Any healthy love they feel toward their mother is likely to pale in intensity
and salience compared with the bond they must create and maintain with their father in order to
survive. The battered woman who is also a mother is therefore likely to be abused by both the abusive

Homeward Bound Travelling has always been in my blood. Before I was born, my Mum worked as a

giving birth to me and reaching middle age, Mum had an existential crisis. She decided that even after
working for 16 years as a flight attendant, she hadn t travelled enough and wanted to see the whole
world. While I wasn t exactly thrilled at the idea of giving up on school, friends and 7 year old things

Eventually, we were dizzyingly spat out somewhere near our hotel and as the crowd of people left, a
few waved their goodbyes. It took us awhile to gather our bearings again and then wave back as the
happy crowd continued their aimless journey through the city. The warmth and good nature of the
French meant that even during their national celebration that we felt excluded from, foreigners like
ourselves felt at home as well and felt as if an extended part of their community. Another experience
made me think about the meaning of home. Eight months into our trip while traipsing through the
streets of Scotland, a certain homeless man stood out towards myself and Mum. Handing me a crisp,
£10 note, she nudged me towards him. Tentatively, I remember moving towards his huddled form on
the sidewalk with my head facing my shoes and placed the note in an old ratty hat. His face shot up,
scaring the wits out of me, but then with a bright white smile and shining blue eyes, he looked up at

accommodated in a facility that s highly secured with the appropriated amount of supervision from the

service members deployed in Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF)

28. Delian League Research Paper
The Delian League is a modern term for the group of Greek cities that formed an organisation which
was referred to in the fifth century BC as The Athenians and their Allies . The aim of the Delian
League was originally to form an alliance for an offensive war against Persia and to liberate the
Greeks in Asia Minor from Persian control. Thucydides wrote in The Peloponnesian War, the aim of
the League was to compensate themselves for their losses by ravaging the territory of the King of
Persia. While many factors contributed to the slow transformation of the Delian League into the
Athenian Empire, a large part of the change derives from Athens leadership of the League and their
eventual use of the other states for private matters. The fulfillment of the aim of the Delian League
demonstrates the turning point from the League to the empire.
The name alone is an indication of Athens power within the League, and originally Athens was chosen
for leadership by the other states in the League and accepted as a leader by outsiders, including Sparta.
It was natural that leadership should fall to Athens at the formation of the League for many reasons,
mostly because Sparta was deemed unfit to lead by the other states. The rigid Spartan way of life was
useful in battle but proved to be ineffective to direct the freer states. The Spartan regent of ... Show

SCADA EMS This report covers the real time system design and the different components of the
SCADA Energy Management System. Specifically, this report will focus on the General Electric
XA/21 SCADA system and how it all fits together and how it provides a solution to end users and
administrators. The XA/21 is a very scalable and customizable system and that will be described at
great length in this report (General Electric, 2013). System Basics As noted in the introduction, the
scalability and customizing of the XA/21 system is very flexible. There can be anywhere from one to
150 different computing nodes. The system has been installed more than 100 times and there has been
3.5 million hours of online operation. GE states that the system can be flexible enough to evolve and
be changed based on changing regulatory demands and changing market conditions. The total cost of
ownership is purported to be quite low. The system can be set up using a variety of different operating
systems and programming languages ranging from the modern iterations to the much more dated
technologies and languages (General Electric, 2013). The operating systems and programming
technologies that can be used include UNIX, Microsoft Windows, ODBC, POSIX, Structured Query

American is the melting pot of the world and because of this; we can enjoy a bounty of American
Ethnic Literature. What does this mean? American Ethnic Literature are the poems, novels, and
histories written by the minority peoples of this new world. They were the outsiders of a
predominately white world and therefore had an experience like no other. African American, Native
Americans and Mexican Americans have a rich deep heritage that was immortalized in writing.
African American Literature began as graphic slave narratives, accounting life in bondage by the slave
themselves. The readers were enlightened to the cruelties of life as a slave and also the ways that
slaves managed to escape. People were finally given a glimpse into the horrors of slavery and the fight
of the African American people. In 1859, America saw one of the first autobiographical/fiction novels

indentured slave girl. Abused by the white family that owned her, she finds a way to respect herself

Abstract Aim: To compare Allen s Test with modified Allen s Test and its clinical importance
Materials and Methods: Thirty students from Saveetha Dental College, Chennai were selected for this
experiment, people were chosen at random. The Allen s test is a worldwide standardized test used to
determine whether the patency of the radial or ulnar artery is normal. It is performed prior to radial
cannulation or catheterization, as a placement of such a catheter may result in thrombosis. Allen s test
is considered to be normal. The patient is asked to clench both fists tightly for 1 minute at the same
time. Pressure is applied to both radial arteries simultaneously so as to occlude them. The patient then
opens the fingers of both hands rapidly, and the examiner compares the color of both. The initial pallor
should be replaced quickly by rubor. The test may be repeated, this time occluding the ulnar arteries.
In the modified Allen test, one hand is examined at a time, the hand is elevated and the patient is asked

37. Taking a Look at Free Trade
Free trade is something that WTO encourages globally and insists that no government interference
should take place in international trade and that this will be followed by specialisation and an increase
in countries welfare. Countries however want a competitive advantage and to obtain this interference
takes place in the form of restrictions. Most highly competitive countries are well off economically,
has respectable infrastructure, high levels of education and technology, steady political and social
status and strong international positioning. Restrictions are set in motion for several reasons, all of
them follow. First we distinguish between tariff barrier restrictions and non tariff barrier restrictions.
Tariffs are imposed on either exports or imports and include a payment, like taxes that the government
imposes on goods that leaves or enters the country. Import tariffs are more common than export tariffs.
Ad valorum is a type of tariff which entails that you pay a fixed % on goods. For example, if you
import R1200 of merchandise, and the ad valorum is set at 12%, you have to pay R144 duties on the
goods. Another tariff is a specific rate tariff which means a specific amount for each unit is expected
to be paid. For example if the amount is set at R200 specific rate for every tv imported to SA, every
unit that is imported has to pay R200. A compound rate is the last tariff type restriction, and combines
ad valorum and specifics tariffs which mean you have to pay a set

38. Noah Reflection
Like the Bible, the movie starts off at the very beginning. Eventually, Noah tells his children the story
of the construction of earth which is accurate to Genesis, though he mixes the second and fourth days.
The Bible says that the sun and the moon was formed on the fourth day not the second day. When it
refers to recent state of the land, the film sets up two factions: Noah and Lemech, Tubal Cain and the
good men, the evil men. The evil are offspring of Cain, which is accurate to what the Bible says in
Chapter 3. According to that chapter, Cain moved east and constructed towns and eventually he had
kids. In the film, Noah s wife was named Naamah and the film made it seem as if she was an
equivalent to Noah. She discusses with him about raising their children and about the ark. In the Bible,
like most females in the story, she is mentioned to as Noah s wife and all we know is that she had boys
and that she was on the ark. It seems that things such as her unfruitfulness and then her curing at the
hands of Methuselah, was added to the movie. We are aware that she had kids, but the twin girls are
not stated.
Na el the female that Noah makes Ham depart is not in the Bible. As I stated previously, the Bible says
that Ham s spouse was on the ark. Furthermore, in the film Noah finds out about the flood because of
two somewhat complicating predictive thoughts, both of which find him immersed in water. In the
text, its more direct, and God simply tells him what s occurring.

that the roads are made of glass, opportunity is in the air, and civil rights are plentiful. These accounts

welfare, and healthcare, freedoms only given in America at the time. This freedom to succeed has

when he or she has overcome great obstacles to succeed (Friedman), especially because immigrants
who came from nothing were able to utilize their freedoms in order to make something for themselves.
Even though freedom has been our nation s identity for its entire existence, our nation has suffered
dark ages when the freedoms of African Americans were repressed. During the period of slavery,
African Americans were forced to labor under often cruel and gruesome conditions, for their white

his 12 Years a Slave:
There may be humane masters, as there certainly are inhuman ones there may be slaves well clothed,
well fed, and happy, as there surely are those half clad, half starved and miserable; nevertheless, the

dollars a year in research and marketing to try to advertise my product directly to you by using a
variety of methods, the most prominent being Aristotle s ancient rhetorical appeals. In this image
analysis, I will be breaking down the thoughts of the marketing team at Drakkar Nior and explain who

43. Essay on The Life of Sir Isaac Newton
Over the centuries, math has evolved in an astounding way. Since the beginning of time, there have
been many mathematicians that has influenced and contributed to the math we know today. None
compares to the work of Sir Isaac Newton. He was influential as a person, as well as in his work.
Sir Isaac Newton was born on December 25, 1642 in Wools Thorpe, Lincolnshire. Shortly after his
father s death, Newton was born premature and was not expected to survive. After his father s death,
his mother got remarried to an ignorant man. His stepfather didn t seem to like him, so he was then
sent away to live with his grandmother. At the age of eleven, his stepfather died. After the death, he
decided to move back home with his mother.

In 1667, Newton returning to Cambridge and quickly completed all his requirements for a master s
degree. His greatest discoveries and innovations came about during his years at Cambridge.
Newton was the one to formulate the theory of universal gravity. It is claimed that, when he watched
an apple fall from a tree he wondered if the force that caused that the apple to fall was also the force
that kept the moon in its orbit. According to the text in Newton (1642), his theory that is described in
Newton s law is that gravitational force depends on the mass of each object. His doubt wasn t about
the fact that gravity existed, but whether it was what was keeping the moon in its orbit. He figured
that, if the force was to be decreased he would be able to calculate the Moon s orbital period. He
figured that this was the same force responsible for other motions in the orbit and with his hypothesis;
he decided to call this theory universal gravitation. With many trials and errors he could not get his
calculations to match his theories; he finally figured out his error, he had been using the wrong
formula to figure out the diameter of the Earth.
According to Harper (2006), Newton s distinction between absolute and relative motion is based on
his laws of motion, which he described as accepted by mathematicians and confirmed by experiments
of many kinds . His distinctions between absolute and relative

Carnival Corporation PLC is the largest passenger cruise ship company owning over one hundred

45. Incoming Junior Year
Junior year has taught me a lot on how to become a better student and better friend. To all the
incoming juniors, my advice to them would be stay focused. Junior year brings a lot of changes in
many students lives. It will test your strengths and weaknesses but it will reveal the type of individual
you are. One idea that I was able to understand better was that it s important to know what your goals
are. Having a goal will not only keep you focused in accomplishing said goal but it will also be the
thing that keeps you moving forward despite the obstacles, that as an incoming junior, one will
encounter throughout the year. Your goals do not have to be specific it can be something minor such as
just getting through high school being proud of

46. Essay on Eyewitness Identification and Reliable Testimony
Eyewitness identification and testimony play a huge role in the criminal justice system today, but
skepticism of eyewitnesses has been growing. Forensic evidence has been used to undermine the
reliability of eyewitness testimony, and the leading cause of false convictions in the United States is
due to misidentifications by eyewitnesses. The role of eyewitness testimony in producing false
confessions and the factors that contribute to the unreliability of these eyewitness testimonies are
sending innocent people to prison, and changes are being made in order to reform these faulty
identification procedures. Human memory is flexible and prone to suggestion. Human memory, while

Research that has been performed on this factor shows that the chance of mistaken identification is
1.56 times greater in cases that involve different races than in cases involving same race identification
(Vallas, 2011). This factor of own race bias does not vary significantly among age groups. Other
factors that affect eyewitness identification are violence, stress, and the focus on a weapon. Violence,
stress, and the presence of a weapon at the time of a crime all may have detrimental effects on the
ability of a witness to make an accurate identification (Vallas, 2011). Stress distorts an eyewitness s
observations, and while it is understandable to focus on the weapon when faced with a situation in
which the eyewitness is in danger, the focus on the weapon is not as important as the description of the
perpetrator. Since it is not within the power of researchers studying the effects of violence and stress
on witnesses to replicate the exact stress and violence of an actual crime, it has been difficult to
determine the actual effect that these two factors have on witnesses (Vallas, 2011). However, many
experiments conclude that an increase in the level of violence used in the crime results in a decrease in
both the accuracy of the identification as well as the witness s recall abilities (Vallas, 2011). Weapon
focus is described as

48. Camera Shake
Don t let a blurry photo from camera shake ruin precious memories!
Photoshop is capable of repairing many flaws and errors, but unfortunately it can t fix everything!
Camera shake can wreak havoc on the sharpness of any image. Lacking a basic understanding of the
exposure triangle, many people fail to realize the significance of a steady hand in producing sharp
images. A thorough knowledge of the relationship between shutter speed, aperture, and ISO is
certainly the benchmark of a professional; hence, understanding the basics will go a long way in
improving your overall image quality.

However, a 50mm lens on a crop sensor has an angle of view of 31 degrees; thus, the subject appears
closer revealing more blur in the image. Think of it like this, when shooting with a crop sensor, the
image appears cropped due to the smaller sensor and therefore appears to zoom in closer on the
subject; thus, the same amount of camera movement makes the blur more visible in the cropped
image. Multiplying the focal length by the crop factor eliminates this effect in a crop sensor. Of
course, all of this is based on a rule, and I use that term rule loosely, that was developed years ago as a
guide in achieving an acceptable level of sharpness in an image.
What is acceptable sharpness in an image?
The topic of much debate, acceptable sharpness is certainly subjective. I think every photographer has
an opinion on the subject; nonetheless, I feel the best way to decide what is acceptable sharpness is to
view the photograph either on a computer screen or printed at approximately the same size as an 8x10.
Now, when viewed from the perspective of a person looking at the photograph hanging on a wall, if it
looks sharp, it s probably good enough for most of us.

50. Arabic Language As A Language
Irfan Rifai is a name adopted from Arabic language that means wisdom and noble respectively. My
father told me that the name given to me because he wanted me to grow up being a wise and a noble
man. Well, I hope that I have not disappointed him. Arabic does not function as a second language in
Indonesia, but being predominantly populated by Muslims, Arabic is taught in the early age for the
purposes of praying and reading the holy Quran. Unless we have enrolled in Islamic boarding school,
Arabic language has not generally been taught or used for communication sake.
I learned Arabic literacy at the same time that I learned to read and write in my first language. As a
kid, I spent my time studying at formal school from 7 am to 12 pm and had informal school where I
learned Arabic literacy afterward until 4 pm. With such a busy schedule of schooling, I still wonder
what went wrong that I was only capable of reading both in Arabic and Indonesian fluently only when
I was at my 2nd grade of school. Was it that I was too young to enter elementary school? I was
registered at elementary school when I was only 5 years old because there was no kindergarten at the
time and place where I lived as a young boy. Was it the methods that my teacher used or was it that I
did not have enough exposures to prints or reading habits in the family?

busy working and my mother simply did not
