The high level architecture of an ISP consists of a remote access server (RAS), a set of modems, and routers that connect subscribers to the Internet. Subscribers dial up the ISP using their modem, which connects to an available modem in the ISP's set of modems. The RAS then authenticates the subscriber by checking their user ID and password. If authenticated, the RAS allows the subscriber to connect to the Internet through the ISP's routers.

Dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) is an optical transmission technology that uses multiple wavelengths of light to combine several data streams onto a single optical fiber.
Hacking Telco equipment: The HLR/HSS, by Laurent GhigonisP1Security
HLR and HSS are the most important Telecom Equipment in an Operator Core
Network.
We are going to see that this so-called “Critical Infrastructure” is not
as robust as you could think, by exploring the some weaknesses of the
HLR/HSS equipment.
Plan:
* Virtualization of HLR/HSS, for instrumentation purposes
* HLR/HSS system analysis
* SS7/Diameter network fuzzing
* HLR/HSS binaries reverse
Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) is the most recent version of the Internet Protocol (IP), the communications protocol that provides an identification and location system for computers on networks and routes traffic across the Internet. IPv6 was developed by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) to deal with the long-anticipated problem of IPv4 address exhaustion. IPv6 is intended to replace IPv4.
