Essay about Choosing the Best Sound Format for Production
Choosing the Best Sound Format for Production There are many issues facing an audio professional
who is considering getting into surround production, either for music, film, DVD, Internet, or multi
media. Whether you are recording, mixing, editing, or mastering, there is a lot of information that you
need to be comfortable with before you can succeed in surround sound. Although this collection is a
good start, it is by no means an exhaustive list or in depth manual. Hopefully it will give you a well
rounded introduction and good foundation on which to build the pursuit of your goals.
There are a number of critical issues that seem to surface every time we talk about the ... Show more

Some Dolby certified film stages alter this slightly and reference the surrounds to 82db. You would
use pink noise and measure using C weighting and slow response. This is by no means a complete
guide to setting up the monitoring in your room, but it s the basics to get you started.
5.1: spoken as five point one . This refers to a surround sound format consisting of 5 full range
channels and one LFE channel (see the next entry). It consists of Left, Center, Right, Left Surround,
Right Surround.
7.1. This is reminiscent of, but not exactly the same as the old 70mm soundtracks. The current 7.1 has
L, C, R, LS, RS, and LFE like 5.1, but adds 2 more speakers behind the screen between the center and
left, and between the center and right. These are referred to as LC and RC, or Left Center and Right
Center. On large screens, this allows better tracking of dialog and effects, and more creative options
for the mixers and director. The original 70mm 6 channel soundtrack had five across the front like 7.1,
but no subwoofer and only mono surround. Some people have also suggested
LFE: Low Frequency Effects. Typically you use a subwoofer in this application, the point one of 5.1.
The channel does not necessarily have to be band limited, as in the option to use it as a height channel
in DVD A, but when used as an LFE, it is of course for low frequency information. It is a discrete
channel, not a

The Importance Of Minority Voting
Voters Identification law may suppress minority voting and it may not suppress minority voting. We
have so many different races that enter this country with permission and without. The laws for visiting
or becoming a legal resident in this country is complicated especially because of the terrorist attacks.
Identification laws are necessary in my opinion. It helps identify people, most importantly it helps to
decrease any fraudulent activities in this country. I can say if it has anything to do with racial and
ethnic minorities, maybe it s a coincidence that majority of African Americans and Hispanic have less
access to photo IDs, some of us are not legal citizens, or maybe not. The law complicates everything
in general for good reasons so they feel. I can understand what the research and studies demonstrates,
about the decrease in minority audience and increase Republican Party turnouts. I do believe if you
have a higher mindset you can attain all things that seem impossible. I know firsthand how difficult it
is for African Americans to register to vote without an ID, the law won t even to let you register if its
expired. So what the law has gotten strict, so what, that should motivate African Americans and other
races in this country to push through any obstructions to get an ID so they can be apart in making
changes in this society. I know African Americans went through what may have seem like Hell but
they overcame it and contribute to adding Amendments, why go through

Aristotle s Structure Of Tragedy
Aristotle is one of the greatest ancient Greek philosophers. One of his best works is Poetics. Aristotle

Barbie Dolls On Young Children Essay
Mattel:
Influences of Barbie dolls on young children Mattel is considered one of the most leading industry
when it comes to the invention of toys and video games. Mattel is also a leading brand company that
researches and develops new toys and then buys or license them from inventors. But what exactly are
they doing to convince us consumers to buy their products? For the past decades now, Barbie dolls
mainly created by Mattel have grown tremendously and have made a huge impact to children s lives.
Kids are influenced by what they see on television and therefore automatically drawn to imitate
whatever characters they seem to be interesting. Their characters, dressing, and responsibility
influence young children to change dramatically. Based on A Rhetorical Analysis of Amy Lin s Article
, the writer Amy Lin argues that Barbie dolls and all its associated products fosters or encourage a
consumerist ethos in young girls (children), I agree that Barbie dolls not only influence children based
on materialism but it also encourages a false view of reality. In the article by Amy Lin, given that
Barbie has become the alpha doll (Talbot 74) for girls in today s popular culture, young female
consumers clearly associate only good things with Barbie. The product itself has become a tradition
handed down from mother to daughter or a rite of passage that most girls go through. In this way,
excessive consumption and the effects of branding are handed down as well, as Barbie dolls are

Comparing Mythology And Religion
Mythology and religion are different yet they have similar features. Mythology is most often
considered one part of a religion. Religion is a broader encompass of rituals, morals and experiences.
If a mythology is pulled away from the religion that it originated with, a myth loses its sacred
importance and starts to be looked on more as a legend or tale.
Religion is a belief concerning the supernatural, sacred, or divine and the moral codes, practices
values and institutions associated with such belief. (Religion) People who have religious beliefs or
practices usually believe in a higher being, practice worship, and have practices of ethics and politics.
The word myth comes from the Greek word mythos, which means [word,] [speech,] [tale,] or [story,]
and that is essentially what a myth is: a story. (Morford, Lenardon, and Sham, 3). Like religious
stories, myths are often entertaining, morally instructive and inspirational. ... Show more content on

Some religious organizations believe that some or all of their stories are also historically accurate.
They believe that they were revealed to their ancestors or elders divinely. They feel that calling their

time of Christ, the Greco Roman world had started to use the term [myth] (Greek mythos) to mean
[fable, fiction, lie]; as a result, the early Christian theologians used [myth] in this sense. ( Eliade, 162)

Observation Of A Piglet Experiment
On the 10th of September 2017, ten little piglets that had died at birth were brought and staged outside
of Heartland Career Center in Wabash, Indiana. Over the past three weeks we have observed and
studied the dead piglets lying in the grass, cement and suspended from a pole. Before we started the
experiment, we had to answer some questions on how which piglet will decompose faster during the
experiment. There was a lot discovered about the dead piglets and it was very interesting. Throughout
this project, we had to answer questions on what we think will happen to the piglets and make a
hypothesis on what will happen through the three weeks that we did it. Most of the questions that I
had were correct with my hypothesis. One of the questions that we had to answer was, does a piglet
suspended in the air decompose at a different rate than the one left on the ground or the cement? This
was a difficult question but not too hard because the piglets that were suspended took a long time to
decompose to just bones. Differed from the piglets in the air it took the piglets on the ground at least a
week to decompose because of the heat that we had over a weekend time period that had no
observations because we weren t at school. Over all, the piglets that were suspended in the air on a
pole and the piglets on the ground each piglet had a different reaction to everyday. Which decomposes
faster, a piglet that is in its natural state, one that is burnt, one that is buried? This was a

Analysis Of Sir Thomas Malory s Le Morte DArthur
A knight s role in society during the middle ages is to be a sacrificial pawn to the king. During the
medieval times, the knight class is under the king and lords classes; however, they were also within
the nobility rank. In exchange for land and food, they are obligated to assist and support their lord and
king. They must be physically and mentally prepared to forfeit their lives when they fight for and
protect their lord no matter the occasion. According to the code of chivalry, they must serve their king
and remain loyal always. In addition, a chevalier cannot act on their own accord if the consequences
include betrayal of the king, thus they must remain selfless. All the chevaliers have their flaws;

Despite the fact that Sir Gawain and Sir Launcelot had a poor relationship, he has asked for Sir
Launcelot s assistance because he understands that Sir Launcelot is the flower of the knighthood, and
an essential key to protecting his king since he is unable to complete the task himself (Malory 221). In
spite of Sir Gawain exerted the efforts of writing to Sir Launcelot, Sir Launcelot never appeared on the
battlefield. Although Sir Bedivere has been with King Arthur during the fight with Sir Modred, does
not necessarily mean he is more chivalrous and loyal than Sir Launcelot. As instructed by King Arthur,
Sir Bedivere were to take the sword Excalibur to the shore of the lake and throw in the water (Malory

nothing when he threw the sword into the water. Lies reached the king ears twice such as seeing only
the wind upon the waves and the lapping of the waves (Malory 348 354). Automatically, King Arthur
knew Sir Bedivere has been dishonest with him and states, twice you have betrayed me (Malory 355).
Sir Bedivere allowed his greed to lead him astray from the code of chivalry. Corresponding with the
code of chivalry, he must live to serve the king, live to defend the crown and country and all it holds
dear and obey the law of the king. He has broken all these laws by becoming a priest like the

Hearing Loss and Cochlear Implants
Over 360 million people or about five percent of the world population have disabling hearing loss
(Deafness). Disabling hearing loss refers to hearing loss greater than 40 decibels for adults and a
hearing loss of greater than 30 decibels for children (Deafness). 40 decibels is equivalent to the tune of
a refrigerator humming. Although hearing loss can be mild, moderate, severe, or profound there are
numerous ways of improving the damaged hearing (Deafness). The most common ways are through
hearing aids and cochlear implants. Cochlear implants is a type of implanted electronic hearing
device; it is designed to produce hearing sensations that are useful to a person with profound nerve
deafness Cochlear Implants €“ Facts). The device is more ideal for people who cannot benefit
substantially with the help of hearing aids (Cochlear Implants €“ Facts). Today, over 219,00 people
are using Cochlear Implants (Cochlear Implants, Baylor). The technology used in cochlear implants is
more complex and improves hearing and communication skills drastically. Despite cochlear implants
having many disadvantages, there are more benefits that will help towards improving hearing loss.
The research of hearing loss first started in 1950 (Cochlear Implants €“ Facts). It was discovered that
hearing could be obtained by directly inserting an array of electrodes into the cochlea of a patient with
profound deafness. It took another 30 years of research before the implant was commercially

different residential environments may inspire different drinking habits. The independent variable is
the type of housing the women live in and the dependent variable is the type of alcohol involvement

The Patient Protection And Affordable Care Act ( Ppaca )
With the establishment of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), more and more
Americans are able to have access to the healthcare, but roadblocks have occurred in the road to get
there. After the signing of the bill into law, about 26 states filed a lawsuit in the setting of a federal
court. This was done to challenge the constitutionality of the individual mandate (individuals must
possess a minimum level of health insurance or face financial penalties) and the Medicaid expansion
(individuals earning less than 133% of the poverty level baseline are eligible for Medicaid). The
Medicare expansion is optional, however, as of current, all the states are participating in it. The federal
court had decided to determine is the two provisions of the bill were unconstitutional or not and if it is
right for other courts to rule on the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act. On the basis of this,
the Supreme Court decided that the individual mandate is a constitutional exercise of Congress to lay
tax plans out. This decision was unexpected by many, as lower courts believed the opposite of the
mandate. The court ruled in favor on the basis of three factors, which were Americans eventually have
to pay less for the penalties rather than the price of insurance, the mandate provision does not turn on
an individual if they do not purchase insurance and it does prohibit the IRS from collecting the
payments through punitive means such as criminal prosecution. These

Beowulf vs Batman Beowulf was the first superhuman ever to be written about; he s basically the
great grand father of all modern day fictional heroes. But does that mean that all heroes are modeled
exactly like Beowulf? Well, let s take a look at Batman whose known by every kid and adult out there.
He like Beowulf had years of rigorous training in order to become too strong muscular hero that we

personalities. In the end though everyone comes to the point where they realize that they aren t as
young as they used to be and with their line of work it can come quick and fast. So as they re final act

Women of Latin American culture have incessantly ensued the potent gender roles that have become a
social construction of their society over innumerable decades. The profound author of Insurgent
Mexico, John Reed, imparts his experiences with the revolutionary leaders of the Mexican Revolution,
like Pancho Villa, and was able to witness their culture and more specifically the roles these Mexican
women were forced to render by their chauvinistic counterparts. This period of revolution, started to

In Reed s accounts he expressed how he heard the angry voice of the master of the house reminded the

the orders he had just given (Reed, 17). There is an order of importance to note that Reed always
refers to these Mexican women as the man s woman and never their wife, however when he speaks
through the woman s account he refers to the man as their husband. There is more respect demanded
from the women of Mexican culture during the early 1900s because the men viewed their laborious
work that brings in money as a means to deserve to be treated like masters of their family. The
specifically crafted language Reed uses when he speaks of the labor the women perform, can
demonstrate that he realizes they are weary and overworked. Along with everything Reed includes
when he is describing the women work, there is important to also note that he omits any complaints
made by women to their husbands. Throughout the novel in any interaction between and man and his
woman, never did the woman complain about her arduous work and the commands she received. The
work women did in Mexican culture is expected of them and it ties into machismo on part of the men
because they feel their job is only to bring income while the wives took care of the rest. Taking this
into account, Reed portrays these women to be tolerant and respectful not only to these men in their
lives they

Analysis Of Bruce Bairinsfather s One Of Those Balkan...
Bruce Bairinsfather s One of Those Balkan Muddles cartoon depicts a dejected soldier, profoundly
confused about his nationality and identity. The man does not seem to possess a clear ethnicity or
home country, thus neither does he possess a true citizenship. He is not specifically tied to any one
people, geographical area, or culture. The Empire was a confusing, heterogeneous mixture of several
ethnicities forced into a single citizenship and state. This caricature reflects a comedized reality for
many people living within the borders of the Austro Hungarian Empire during and prior to World War
One. As a real life example, the imperial census of the Austro Hungarian Empire in 1910 caused
problems when it asked subjects to state their identity. The official criterion was language spoken, yet
controversy raged when others argued for history, geography, anthropology and ethnography as the
key criteria. Divisively, Emperor Franz Joseph, at the head of a dynasty which was supposed to be
supra national, put himself down firmly as German on the census form . Bairinsfather s cartoon soldier
is the personification of Empire s lack of clear collective identity, and thus no true citizenship. This
issue will eventually lead to the dissolution of the Empire into several constituent states.
The epoch that the cartoon was drawn in was defined by the emergence of a central force in
geopolitics: The nation state. The force of nationalism, neither benevolent nor malevolent, surfaced as

Performance Enhancing Drugs Among Athletes Essay
Since the dawn of the twenty first century, performance enhancing drugs have become a religious
practice in the lives of some sport figures. The use of these supplements have given the user an edge,
an edge to perform at maximum capability. Most major athletes all agree on the fact that the
competitive determination to win is intense. Despite all, most athletes have high hopes of either
winning a medal, a full ride college scholarship or the once in a lifetime opportunity to play for a

recurrent (Athletes Drug Use). Accomplishing such goals includes taking performance enhancing

The more oxygen flowing through blood and muscle, the better the athlete performs. Any athlete who
uses a performance enhancing drug to deliver more oxygen to their muscles will perform for longer
periods of time throughout the physical activity. Another likely reason an athlete would use
performance enhancing drugs is simply to stimulate the body (Athletes Drug Use). Athletes constantly
need to keep their body stimulated to simply reduce fatigue, gain assertion, and maintain aggression
(Athletes Drug Use). Which is really not much different from a person drinking coffee in the morning
to perk up. Importantly, athletes would use performance enhancing drugs to mask injuries (Athletes
Drug Use). For example, if a wide receiver breaks his finger or sprains his knee during a game, there
are two options: one, the wide receiver can be taken out of the game or two, the athletic trainer can
give the wide receiver an injection to take the pain away, allowing him to return to the remainder of
the game. With the reasons for taking performance enhancing drugs in mind, this essay should
mention the many categories of performance enhancing drugs available on the market today,
including, growth hormones (HGH), pain killers, supplements, and steroids. In all aspects of sports,
athletes all have one common goal, success. Athletes often rely on the use of these substances in hopes
of gaining college scholarships, and playing for a professional team. Although

Pros And Cons Of The Njac
Advocates for the government and several states have argued that the NJAC would improve judicial
selection and the quality of the judiciary and that the NJAC does not violate the basic structure. In
defending the NJAC, Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi argued that expanding the appointment process
to include a more formal role for the law minister, along with two eminent persons, would help lead to
a more diverse and representative judiciary that is more accountable to the people. Also, the
government argued that a switch to the NJAC would improve the quality and merit of judicial
appointments, going so far as to impugn the merit of specific appointments under the collegium.
Furthermore, senior advocate K.K. Venugopal, representing the state of Madhya Pradesh, argued that
the NJAC did not violate the basic structure, as Article 124 has drafted conferred primacy on the

came under severe criticism, following which the Supreme Court stepped back from its judgment in a

Most importantly, some of the interpretive possibilities articulated here may have produced an
appointments process that closely resembles the existing collegium system. Thus, the NJAC could
become the collegium in disguise. If that would have happened, then, the Supreme Court would have
successfully struck down the amendment without being transparent about doing so.

Hong Kong, the pearl of Asia has been the center of trade and finance in Asia since the early 20th
century. In a short history of about 150 years, Hong Kong has become the source of growth for many
nearby economies. In a certain sense, it can be even said that it is a merchant city founded and

economy. Jardine Matheson and Hutchison were major hongs that led the economy and the Hong

George Orwell Politics And The English Language
Language is the network of communication in thought, spoken words, and written verse. It is
structural and formed through the development and adaptions of human beings. As art itself, language
takes the configuration of the world and conveys itself in a diverse manner. Although, some persons
argue that language shall be strictly followed and contain no modifications for that ruins the sole
purpose of language being our system of disclosure. George Orwell, in his text Politics and the
English Language , delivers a message of traditional English being taken further from its roots and
changed into something harsh and inadequate. On the other hand, there s the more lenient and open
author, James Baldwin, who in his text, If Black English isn t a Language, Then Tell me, What is? ,
delivers a cry of despair for the language that has grown as its own from his culture and background.
Thus, both Orwell and Baldwin have similar and different outlooks on the perception of language and
how it should be presented in thought and literature. To begin with their differences, Orwell expounds
on the faults of English language when written constructively. In his text, Politics and the English
Language , he pleads with his concerns about modern writers and their writing structure through a
haughty and conservative perspective. To this author, language and writing is incorrigible. For
instance, in the text he states, In certain kinds of writing, particularly in art criticism and

Introduction
The competitive drivers of the 21st century are time and service (responsiveness and flexibility). The
notions of stabilizing flow and reducing variations are no longer competitive practices. More to point,
three forces separately and in combination are driving today s companies deeper and deeper into a
territory that most of the executive and managers find frighteningly unfamiliar. These forces are the 3

In this paper we will discuss Toyota s Production System and how it works with the strategy of their
business. We will define their mission and visions goals and their core principles as it applies to their
company. This paper will also discuss their basic approaches and general practices. It is also important
to understand what the Toyota Production System entails and how Lean operations began.
For instance, according to Stevenson, lean operation is a flexible system of operations that uses
considerably fewer resources than a traditional system. For example, Lee s Transportation owned by
Tony and Lisa Jones, can no longer operate due to several vehicle accidents caused by their drivers.
This has resulted in an increase in their insurance premiums with All State and the premiums are too
expensive for them to maintain their business. This unfortunate situation has caused a great hardship
and Tony and Lisa have no other option than to discharge their employees. Eventually, they coordinate
with a business partner and financial advisor and are able to start their company again under a changed
name, Loving Hands. They are now able to obtain insurance coverage through State Farm.
The Jones re hire their previous employees but with new policies and procedures implemented. They
have incorporated monthly staff meetings on safety while driving, online training courses quarterly, in
addition to driving classes being mandatory and held annually. Tony and Lisa executes strict policies

Comparing Hurricane Harvey And Hurricane Katrina
2005 saw the worst hurricane in recent memory, Katrina. 2017 saw yet another truly devastating
hurricane, Harvey. These two hurricanes were both destructive in different ways. These hurricanes
caused major damage and hard times after they hit.The real question though, is which one was more
destructive? There are two different sides to this question, but research shows Katrina was more
destructive. Both hurricanes will be covered in depth so you can really see how bad they were.
After looking back at Hurricane Katrina you really start to realize again how bad it really was.
Originally Hurricane Katrina was only a category 3 at first, but it was constantly changing going to

Estimates were put at as much as about 75 billion dollars worth of destruction. That is a lot of damage!
Hurricane Harvey dropped about 40 52 inches of rain. Harvey was a category 4 hurricane with a
diameter of 280 miles, and had wind speeds up to 130 mph during its first landfall. This was the
longest lasting hurricane in Texas ever to happen. About 30,000 people are needing temporary shelter.
Although this hurricane did a lot of damage, it didn t kill to many people. Hurricane Harvey s killed a
total of 82 people. Harvey was truly one of the worst hurricanes to hit hit Texas, and definitely one of
the worst to hit America!
Hurricane Harvey killed 82 people and Hurricane Katrina killed 1,833 people. Harvey was a very
spread out hurricane hitting the Gulf Coast area, to Katrina was a very focused hurricane hitting
mostly New Orleans. Both of the hurricanes were really bad, but after researching both closely,
Katrina was a worse hurricane. In conclusion, natural disasters can happen and when they do, they can

The First Retirement Plan Of The United States Essay
The first retirement plan created in the United States, is one that the majority of us are familiar, the
Social Security Act, signed under law in 1935. Up until 1939, Social Security only paid retirement
benefits to primary workers, which for the most part were men. Age 65 was chosen as the retirement
age because individuals who survived past childhood were likely to live past 65. However, not
everyone benefited from such assistance, even after age 65 agricultural and domestic workers were
excluded from coverage (DeWitt, 2010). The excluded group consisted of roughly half of workers
contributing to the economy, which the majority were African Americans. According to Larry DeWitt,
a public historian from the Social Security Administration, exclusion of such groups was due to tax
collection procedures and not due to racial bias. Although it may seem as though Social Security was
meant to be the only form of retirement plan for qualified retirees, it was not. During such time, many
individuals strongly depended on their savings as well as on their family. Today, the certainty of
receiving sufficient benefits solely from Social Security for a quality standard of living after
retirement is indefinite. Baby boomers individuals born post World War II between 1946 and 1964 are
beginning to claim their benefits, and given what I have learned in class, the number of individuals
entering the workforce is inadequate to sustain such a large population, thus such generation will

The Absence Of Effective Birth Control Essay
INTRODUCTON
The absence of effective birth control led women to resort to abortion between 1900 and 1940. Up
until the arrival of the contraceptive pill in the early 1960 s, New Zealand, predominantly women, but
also men struggled to acquire effective and reliable birth control. There were many reasons why birth
control was limited and frowned upon in New Zealand for over half of the twentieth century,
including, religion, the social expectation of women, and the desire for a large population in New
Zealand. Many women advocated for the introduction of an effective form of birth control in New
Zealand for a number of years before becoming successful in 1961. The women s main argument
during their fight for contraception availability in New Zealand, was that abortion would be rare if the
introduction of a reliable contraceptive method were to happen. In this essay, I will argue that the
absence of effective birth control led women to resort to abortion between 1900 and 1940 by first
analysing the attitudes of society during this era, particularly towards women and contraception, I will
then examine the methods women were resorting to in order to prevent pregnancy, finally, I will
discuss the regular occurrence of abortions during the first half of the twentieth century and how birth
control lays a factor in this. Concluding with, the absence of effective birth control did in fact lead
women to resort to abortion from 1900 to 1940.

What Does The Brain Carry Out Its Functions
The Oxford Dictionary defines the brain as an organ of soft nervous tissue contained in the skull of
vertebrates. This part of the body has three important features. These features help the brain carries out
its functions. The three important features are the cerebrum, the cerebellum, and the brainstem. The
cerebrum is the large part of the brain and it helps the body performs functions that involve body
movements, emotional reactions, and the senses. The cerebrum is divided into four sections. Each of
these sections allows the cerebrum to do some of its functions. The first section of the cerebrum is the
frontal lobe and its function is to regulate emotions, speech patterns, and body motions. The second
part of the cerebrum is the parietal lobe and this part is responsible for auditory and tactile
interpretation. The third area of the cerebrum is the occipital lobe and it is responsible for visual
interpretation. The fourth region of the cerebrum is the temporal lobe and it aids the body in

Therapeutic Cloning Benefits
Why give the money to therapeutic cloning research? Therapeutic cloning involves creating a cloned

replace damaged organs, replace lost limbs and is safer than reproductive cloning. Therapeutic cloning

For example, the process of therapeutic cloning allows scientists to evaluate how the body could
potentially reduce the need for organ transplant to occur in the first place. Therefore, the cells would
be developed based on a person s own unique genetics and DNA. There would no longer be a need for
a second surgery of a donor in order for a transplant to be successful. Medical treatments would be
individually based and this would ultimately protect the privacy of the person. So, therapeutic cloning
will get the organs and it would create the person s own cells. There would be a much reduced risk of
organ rejections once a transplant procedure was successfully completed. Therapeutic cloning is more
safer than reproductive cloning. Reproductive cloning would foster an understanding of children, and
of people in general, as objects that can be designed to possess specific characteristics. As president,
Bush said, we must advance the promise and cause of science, but must do so in a way that honors and
respects life . Therefore, therapeutic cloning is more safer than reproductive cloning because cloned
children would unavoidably be raised in the shadow of their nuclear donor, in a way that would

Post World War II American Society
Post World War II American Society American had been isolationist in keeping the affairs to itself.
When the policy of Good Samaritan did not work out as America failed to keep the harmony between
Europe countries, it became substantial that external concerns are devastating. Any idea of movement
to stop the tyranny in Europe was even opposed strongly as a retaliation response to the failure.
Nonetheless, the long tradition of isolationism finally ended when the World War II disrupted. The
relinquishment of isolationism can be marked down by the popularity of Henry Luce, around February
1941, who was the founder and editor of Life and Time magazine. As an ardent enthusiast of the
intervention in Europe against Hitler, Luce fancied the idea that America has had the most prowess
compared to other countries and made it a point that the responsibility to that power should began to
be shouldered by America. However he anticipated that they, Americans, should employ their
influence on the world: he advised that the US to be a force of good. Global free enterprising, feeding
and clothing the world, and spreading the archetypes of egalitarianism, equality, autonomy and
fairness were what he believed should be insured by America to other countries. Luce also wrote to his
readers that as America was still an isolationist, the influence of American culture was not bound to
only their continent but to the whole world such as American jazz, movies, music and products. This

of breaking down of foods in the mouth. Food is chewed, moistened and softened by saliva, and made
into a bolus for swallowing. Saliva, made of mostly water, comes from intrinsic and extrinsic salivary

Analysis of Joy Williams Save the Whales, Screw the Shrimp
Save the Whales, Screw the Shrimp is an essay written by Joy Williams, about the overwhelming
complacency that todays culture shows towards nature.Williams argues in a very satirical way, that
todays culture has all but completely lost touch with what nature really is, and that unless we as a
nation change our morals regarding the role that nature plays in human existence, we may very well

Although many would agree that Williams has a very good point, her writing style belies conflict even
in her own views. For instance, she attempts to use her satire as a way of shocking the reader into
feeling her personal pain regarding the issue. However, if she truly felt as strongly as she would lead
one to believe, then it stands to reason that she would much rather have written an essay which
touched personal points in the lives of those who are percived to be the overindulgent, complacent,
and disrespectful citizens of our decadent culture. In this way she may have accomplished what she set
out to do in the beginning with this essay, which was to convince the target culture they need to

The overwhelming feeling througout the entire essay is that, ?This lady is on a rant?, and it is apparent
in the closing paragraphs of the essay that this was her intention, but the essay ends there, and seems
to come up short of a punchline. While most self proclaimed environmentalists would say that

Gun violence is serious social problem and Canada has a long history of firearms control. However,
increasing costs to the Canadian Firearms Program (CFP) has made it a lightning rod for criticism
from both pro and anti gun advocates. Reports out of the media and Auditor General Sheila Fraser
paint a picture of inefficiency, incompetence and mismanagement.

Analysis (10 marks)
In dealing with the first issue, there are two distinct schools of thought. One led by gun advocates
stating the irrelevance of gun control in reducing crimes while the other claiming its importance.
The main argument against is the notion that no would be criminal would ever comply with it thereby
diminishing, if not eliminating its effectiveness. Opponents also point to the steadily declining gun
related deaths as evidence against any control. Proponents on the other hand point out that this
reduction is due to fewer suicides rather than homicides. Opponents also argue that controlling gun
access will only create a thriving black market for firearms.
Proponents of the program state that the registry system is an invaluable tool for law enforcement
officials. It helps to track firearms and assist in solving cases, while respecting the rights of law
abiding citizens to own guns.
Judging by the figures presented (exhibit 2) in the case, the sheer volume of queries appear to indicate
that the registry indeed is an essential tool for police. In fact, law enforcement officers who are a key
stakeholder in this program are in favor of it. The argument of a thriving black market can be
reasonable disregarded, as there is no data to support it.
Now, even if there is a necessity for a registry program, it still has to be efficient.

Milton’s Paradise Lost Essay examples
Milton s Paradise Lost has been praised as being the greatest English epic of all time, most stunningly
in its author s depiction of the parents of humanity, Adam and Eve. How Milton chose to portray the
original mother and father has been a focus of much criticism with contemporary readers. One of the
main subjects of these comments is in reference to Eve, who, according to many, is a trivial character
that is most definitely inferior to her mate. Nonetheless, many do not recognize that, after the fateful
Fall, she becomes a much more evolved character. When Eve is introduced to the storyline of the epic,
her character is shallow and extremely undeveloped, meant simply for display. She is quite firmly set
as being inferior to her mate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He does this because the scene happens in the past and therefore he uses her to discuss it rather than
confusing the reader with a flashback type scene. He also has Eve relate what happened to prove that
Eve must indeed be beautiful if she herself was taken by her looks as she discusses how she pined
with vain desire (IV, 466) for the image of her reflection. In fact, Eve s beauty is discussed repeatedly.
For example, when Satan first sees the human couple, he is overtaken by Eve s beauty and submissive
charms (IV, 498). Milton even goes so far to stress her beauty and charms as to have her stun Satan
himself with it. Actually, as Satan is on his mission to seduce Eve into eating the apple, her beauty
overtakes him.
If chance with nymphlike step fair virgin pass, What pleasing seemed, for her now pleases more, She
most, and in her looks sums all delight; Such pleasure took the Serpent to behold This flowery plant,
the sweet recess of Eve Thus early, thus alone; her heavenly form Angelic, but more soft and feminine,
Her graceful innocence, her every air Of gesture or least action, overawed His malice, and with rapine

That space the Evil One abstracted stood From his own evil, and for the time remained
Stupidly good, of enmity disarmed, Of guile, of hate, of envy, of revenge. (IX, 452 466)

How are humans capable to control themselves and their urges? This question has psy chologists
wondering for centuries. How do we decide if we want to spend our money on something or rather
save it to spend it later on something else? What makes us wait for a re ward rather than receiving
instant gratification? Several studies have been conducted on these questions, looking for answers on
self control. In my research, I want to see if there is a dif ference between introverted and extroverted
people in choosing delayed gratification. My hypotheses is that the more introversion a human shows

see several different elements incorporated into the show and ultimately I would want a clear
concreate story line to follow.
First and foremost I would want the location of the show to be in an open arena stage. Not only
because of the practicality of this type of location but also because it offers an almost aerial view,
depending on where your sitting at the performance. Plus, the audience gets more of an immersion
into the show with this setup as well. Considering the fact that they nearly surround the actors on all
four sides. Allowing for multiple focal points on the stage, giving each individual member of the
audience their own preference as to what or who they want to observe. In this setting I would like to
see a Melodrama being performed that incorporates a broad display of choreographed group ... Show

In other words I would want to have the orchestra play at the ideal moments to accent the actions of
the scene. I would want the props to be noticeable and add to the overall atmosphere of the setting and
action taking place. Also I would want the lighting to add an extra layer of depth to the performance,
adding the crucial amount of sinister drama to the villain or heavenly light to the hero. These elements
I would want to be used in a very thoughtful consistent manner. For example, a harp should play every
time the female love interest appears or the villain s entrance should be accented by the theme track to

What Is The Argumentative Essay On The Lord Of The Flies
Lord of the Flies Research Paper
Wartime frequently brings out the worst in people, with its capacity for damaging mental and physical
health, quality of life, and families. In William Golding s Lord of the Flies, the subject of war is
ironically shown through the experiences of children. In particular, when children are unexpectedly
exposed to war, they are emotionally damaged later in life and become accustomed to acts of violence.
The children s exposure to war enables violent behavior. William Golding also has full power over
how the characters in his book are perceived and behave, and his experience in the military in WWII
is reasoning behind the plot and character behavior. In William Golding s Lord of the Flies, both the
author s and the children s exposure to World War II works to fuel the violent actions on the island.
William Golding has extensive experience as a general in World War II, and his perception of the war
influences his novel. In Golding s words, When I was young before the war, before the War, I did have
some airy fairy views about man... but I went through the war and that changed me (Golding 11).
Golding explains that his views about the behavior of men changed when he went through World War
II. The author s previous experiences correlate with the actions of the children and plot during this
time period. In Violence in William Golding s Lord of the Flies , Dedria Bryfonski states, Golding
found his voice and theme in the horrific experiences of

‘the Major Uk Parties Agree More over Europe Than They...
The major UK parties agree more over Europe than they disagree. Discuss Throughout the history of
European integration, the major UK parties have debated on all different aspects of Europe and the
impacts of membership on Britain itself. From both these debates and party policies, it is clear to see
that whilst there is generally a consensus over Europe, some issues have been a cause of disagreement
among the major parties. In this essay I will analyse the policies and actions of the major UK parties
that concern the EU and be able to conclude to what extent they agree over Europe. The most obvious
example of agreement between the three major UK parties is that they all favour UK membership of
the EU, and none of them have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Conservatives, on the other hand, have been against joining the Eurozone ever since negotiating
an opt out from the part of the Maastricht Treaty that would have required the UK to adopt the euro.
They remain against the joining the euro, with David Cameron saying in his recent speech on Europe
that Britain is not in the single currency, and we re not going to be . One common criticism of the EU
by all three major parties has been the lack of democracy within the EU institutions. Even the pro
European Liberal Democrats have said that the certain parts of the EU need to be reformed. One of the
main reforms supported by the major parties is the reform of the EU budget to get better value for
money, as they believe that the UK pays too much into the budget and does not get as much out of it
as it pays in. A policy that the all parties wish to reform is the Common Agricultural Policy. The CAP
takes up 32% of the EU s budget, but only supports a small minority of EU businesses. They believe
that the CAP makes food more expensive in the EU than it needs to be, and that it increases poverty in
poor countries by competing unfairly with local farmers. The major parties also support reform of the
Common Fisheries Policy, with all three voting in favour of reform of the CFP in the European
Parliament in February 2013. The Liberal Democrats and

Differences Between Where The Red Fern Grows
Have you ever wanted to know the differences and similarities between the book and the movie of
Where The Red Fern Grows? Well i will tell you. All tho they are very different they have some
similarities. There are some very big ones and small ones. I will tell the most noticeable. I know the
differences because I have read the book and watched the movie. First, I will talk about how the book

Tallaqua like the book says. When the ghost coon seen comes around the dogs get in that fight. When
billy s grandpa made the bet with the boy. Last when the Pritchard boy falls on the ax. Next, I will
focus on the differences on both. There were a lot of them

  • 2. Essay about Choosing the Best Sound Format for Production Choosing the Best Sound Format for Production There are many issues facing an audio professional who is considering getting into surround production, either for music, film, DVD, Internet, or multi media. Whether you are recording, mixing, editing, or mastering, there is a lot of information that you need to be comfortable with before you can succeed in surround sound. Although this collection is a good start, it is by no means an exhaustive list or in depth manual. Hopefully it will give you a well rounded introduction and good foundation on which to build the pursuit of your goals. This refers to a surround sound format consisting of 5 full range channels and one LFE channel (see the next entry). It consists of Left, Center, Right, Left Surround, Right Surround. 7.1. This is reminiscent of, but not exactly the same as the old 70mm soundtracks. The current 7.1 has L, C, R, LS, RS, and LFE like 5.1, but adds 2 more speakers behind the screen between the center and left, and between the center and right. These are referred to as LC and RC, or Left Center and Right Center. On large screens, this allows better tracking of dialog and effects, and more creative options for the mixers and director. The original 70mm 6 channel soundtrack had five across the front like 7.1, but no subwoofer and only mono surround. Some people have also suggested LFE: Low Frequency Effects. Typically you use a subwoofer in this application, the point one of 5.1. The channel does not necessarily have to be band limited, as in the option to use it as a height channel in DVD A, but when used as an LFE, it is of course for low frequency information. We have so many different races that enter this country with permission and without. The laws for visiting or becoming a legal resident in this country is complicated especially because of the terrorist attacks. Identification laws are necessary in my opinion. It helps identify people, most importantly it helps to decrease any fraudulent activities in this country. I can say if it has anything to do with racial and ethnic minorities, maybe it s a coincidence that majority of African Americans and Hispanic have less access to photo IDs, some of us are not legal citizens, or maybe not. The law complicates everything in general for good reasons so they feel. I can understand what the research and studies demonstrates, about the decrease in minority audience and increase Republican Party turnouts. I do believe if you have a higher mindset you can attain all things that seem impossible. I know firsthand how difficult it is for African Americans to register to vote without an ID, the law won t even to let you register if its expired. So what the law has gotten strict, so what, that should motivate African Americans and other races in this country to push through any obstructions to get an ID so they can be apart in making changes in this society. • 5. Barbie Dolls On Young Children Essay Mattel: Influences of Barbie dolls on young children Mattel is considered one of the most leading industry when it comes to the invention of toys and video games. Mattel is also a leading brand company that researches and develops new toys and then buys or license them from inventors. But what exactly are they doing to convince us consumers to buy their products? For the past decades now, Barbie dolls mainly created by Mattel have grown tremendously and have made a huge impact to children s lives. Kids are influenced by what they see on television and therefore automatically drawn to imitate whatever characters they seem to be interesting. Their characters, dressing, and responsibility influence young children to change dramatically. Based on A Rhetorical Analysis of Amy Lin s Article , the writer Amy Lin argues that Barbie dolls and all its associated products fosters or encourage a consumerist ethos in young girls (children), I agree that Barbie dolls not only influence children based on materialism but it also encourages a false view of reality. In the article by Amy Lin, given that Barbie has become the alpha doll (Talbot 74) for girls in today s popular culture, young female consumers clearly associate only good things with Barbie. The product itself has become a tradition handed down from mother to daughter or a rite of passage that most girls go through. Religion is a broader encompass of rituals, morals and experiences. If a mythology is pulled away from the religion that it originated with, a myth loses its sacred importance and starts to be looked on more as a legend or tale. Religion is a belief concerning the supernatural, sacred, or divine and the moral codes, practices values and institutions associated with such belief. The word myth comes from the Greek word mythos, which means [word,] [speech,] [tale,] or [story,] and that is essentially what a myth is: a story. (Morford, Lenardon, and Sham, 3). • 7. Observation Of A Piglet Experiment On the 10th of September 2017, ten little piglets that had died at birth were brought and staged outside of Heartland Career Center in Wabash, Indiana. Over the past three weeks we have observed and studied the dead piglets lying in the grass, cement and suspended from a pole. Before we started the experiment, we had to answer some questions on how which piglet will decompose faster during the experiment. There was a lot discovered about the dead piglets and it was very interesting. Throughout this project, we had to answer questions on what we think will happen to the piglets and make a hypothesis on what will happen through the three weeks that we did it. Most of the questions that I had were correct with my hypothesis. One of the questions that we had to answer was, does a piglet suspended in the air decompose at a different rate than the one left on the ground or the cement? This was a difficult question but not too hard because the piglets that were suspended took a long time to decompose to just bones. Differed from the piglets in the air it took the piglets on the ground at least a week to decompose because of the heat that we had over a weekend time period that had no observations because we weren t at school. In spite of Sir Gawain exerted the efforts of writing to Sir Launcelot, Sir Launcelot never appeared on the battlefield. • 12. The Patient Protection And Affordable Care Act ( Ppaca ) With the establishment of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), more and more Americans are able to have access to the healthcare, but roadblocks have occurred in the road to get there. After the signing of the bill into law, about 26 states filed a lawsuit in the setting of a federal court. This was done to challenge the constitutionality of the individual mandate (individuals must possess a minimum level of health insurance or face financial penalties) and the Medicaid expansion (individuals earning less than 133% of the poverty level baseline are eligible for Medicaid). The Medicare expansion is optional, however, as of current, all the states are participating in it. The federal court had decided to determine is the two provisions of the bill were unconstitutional or not and if it is right for other courts to rule on the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act. On the basis of this, the Supreme Court decided that the individual mandate is a constitutional exercise of Congress to lay tax plans out. This decision was unexpected by many, as lower courts believed the opposite of the mandate. The court ruled in favor on the basis of three factors, which were Americans eventually have to pay less for the penalties rather than the price of insurance, the mandate provision does not turn on an individual if they do not purchase insurance and it does prohibit the IRS from collecting the payments through punitive means such as criminal prosecution. There is an order of importance to note that Reed always refers to these Mexican women as the man s woman and never their wife, however when he speaks through the woman s account he refers to the man as their husband. There is more respect demanded from the women of Mexican culture during the early 1900s because the men viewed their laborious work that brings in money as a means to deserve to be treated like masters of their family. The specifically crafted language Reed uses when he speaks of the labor the women perform, can demonstrate that he realizes they are weary and overworked. Along with everything Reed includes when he is describing the women work, there is important to also note that he omits any complaints made by women to their husbands. Throughout the novel in any interaction between and man and his woman, never did the woman complain about her arduous work and the commands she received. Bruce Bairinsfather s One of Those Balkan Muddles cartoon depicts a dejected soldier, profoundly confused about his nationality and identity. The man does not seem to possess a clear ethnicity or home country, thus neither does he possess a true citizenship. He is not specifically tied to any one people, geographical area, or culture. The Empire was a confusing, heterogeneous mixture of several ethnicities forced into a single citizenship and state. This caricature reflects a comedized reality for many people living within the borders of the Austro Hungarian Empire during and prior to World War One. As a real life example, the imperial census of the Austro Hungarian Empire in 1910 caused problems when it asked subjects to state their identity. The official criterion was language spoken, yet controversy raged when others argued for history, geography, anthropology and ethnography as the key criteria. Divisively, Emperor Franz Joseph, at the head of a dynasty which was supposed to be supra national, put himself down firmly as German on the census form . Bairinsfather s cartoon soldier is the personification of Empire s lack of clear collective identity, and thus no true citizenship. Athletes constantly need to keep their body stimulated to simply reduce fatigue, gain assertion, and maintain aggression (Athletes Drug Use). Although, some persons argue that language shall be strictly followed and contain no modifications for that ruins the sole purpose of language being our system of disclosure. George Orwell, in his text Politics and the English Language , delivers a message of traditional English being taken further from its roots and changed into something harsh and inadequate. On the other hand, there s the more lenient and open author, James Baldwin, who in his text, If Black English isn t a Language, Then Tell me, What is? , delivers a cry of despair for the language that has grown as its own from his culture and background. Thus, both Orwell and Baldwin have similar and different outlooks on the perception of language and how it should be presented in thought and literature. To begin with their differences, Orwell expounds on the faults of English language when written constructively. In his text, Politics and the English Language , he pleads with his concerns about modern writers and their writing structure through a haughty and conservative perspective. To this author, language and writing is incorrigible. For instance, in the text he states, In certain kinds of writing, particularly in art criticism and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. The First Retirement Plan Of The United States Essay The first retirement plan created in the United States, is one that the majority of us are familiar, the Social Security Act, signed under law in 1935. Up until 1939, Social Security only paid retirement benefits to primary workers, which for the most part were men. Age 65 was chosen as the retirement age because individuals who survived past childhood were likely to live past 65. However, not everyone benefited from such assistance, even after age 65 agricultural and domestic workers were excluded from coverage (DeWitt, 2010). The excluded group consisted of roughly half of workers contributing to the economy, which the majority were African Americans. According to Larry DeWitt, a public historian from the Social Security Administration, exclusion of such groups was due to tax collection procedures and not due to racial bias. Although it may seem as though Social Security was meant to be the only form of retirement plan for qualified retirees, it was not. During such time, many individuals strongly depended on their savings as well as on their family. Today, the certainty of receiving sufficient benefits solely from Social Security for a quality standard of living after retirement is indefinite. Up until the arrival of the contraceptive pill in the early 1960 s, New Zealand, predominantly women, but also men struggled to acquire effective and reliable birth control. There were many reasons why birth control was limited and frowned upon in New Zealand for over half of the twentieth century, including, religion, the social expectation of women, and the desire for a large population in New Zealand. Many women advocated for the introduction of an effective form of birth control in New Zealand for a number of years before becoming successful in 1961. The women s main argument during their fight for contraception availability in New Zealand, was that abortion would be rare if the introduction of a reliable contraceptive method were to happen. In this essay, I will argue that the absence of effective birth control led women to resort to abortion between 1900 and 1940 by first analysing the attitudes of society during this era, particularly towards women and contraception, I will then examine the methods women were resorting to in order to prevent pregnancy, finally, I will discuss the regular occurrence of abortions during the first half of the twentieth century and how birth control lays a factor in this. When the policy of Good Samaritan did not work out as America failed to keep the harmony between Europe countries, it became substantial that external concerns are devastating. Any idea of movement to stop the tyranny in Europe was even opposed strongly as a retaliation response to the failure. Nonetheless, the long tradition of isolationism finally ended when the World War II disrupted. The relinquishment of isolationism can be marked down by the popularity of Henry Luce, around February 1941, who was the founder and editor of Life and Time magazine. As an ardent enthusiast of the intervention in Europe against Hitler, Luce fancied the idea that America has had the most prowess compared to other countries and made it a point that the responsibility to that power should began to be shouldered by America. However he anticipated that they, Americans, should employ their influence on the world: he advised that the US to be a force of good. Global free enterprising, feeding and clothing the world, and spreading the archetypes of egalitarianism, equality, autonomy and fairness were what he believed should be insured by America to other countries. In fact, Eve s beauty is discussed repeatedly. For example, when Satan first sees the human couple, he is overtaken by Eve s beauty and submissive charms (IV, 498). • 41. Theatre Evaluation The world of Theatre allows people from all around the world an outlet to express themselves and convey a message or tell a story. The question as to what the ideal theatre performance would be from an audience s perspective ultimately depends on many different factors; including age, culture, traditions, preferences etc. However, for me personally as a member of the audience I would want to see several different elements incorporated into the show and ultimately I would want a clear concreate story line to follow. First and foremost I would want the location of the show to be in an open arena stage. Not only because of the practicality of this type of location but also because it offers an almost aerial view, depending on where your sitting at the performance. Plus, the audience gets more of an immersion into the show with this setup as well. Considering the fact that they nearly surround the actors on all four sides. Allowing for multiple focal points on the stage, giving each individual member of the audience their own preference as to what or who they want to observe. In this setting I would like to see a Melodrama being performed that incorporates a broad display of choreographed group ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In other words I would want to have the orchestra play at the ideal moments to accent the actions of the scene. I would want the props to be noticeable and add to the overall atmosphere of the setting and action taking place. Also I would want the lighting to add an extra layer of depth to the performance, adding the crucial amount of sinister drama to the villain or heavenly light to the hero. These elements I would want to be used in a very thoughtful consistent manner. For example, a harp should play every time the female love interest appears or the villain s entrance should be accented by the theme track to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Is The Argumentative Essay On The Lord Of The Flies Lord of the Flies Research Paper Wartime frequently brings out the worst in people, with its capacity for damaging mental and physical health, quality of life, and families. In William Golding s Lord of the Flies, the subject of war is ironically shown through the experiences of children. In particular, when children are unexpectedly exposed to war, they are emotionally damaged later in life and become accustomed to acts of violence. The children s exposure to war enables violent behavior. In William Golding s Lord of the Flies, both the author s and the children s exposure to World War II works to fuel the violent actions on the island. William Golding has extensive experience as a general in World War II, and his perception of the war influences his novel. The Conservatives, on the other hand, have been against joining the Eurozone ever since negotiating an opt out from the part of the Maastricht Treaty that would have required the UK to adopt the euro. They remain against the joining the euro, with David Cameron saying in his recent speech on Europe that Britain is not in the single currency, and we re not going to be . One common criticism of the EU by all three major parties has been the lack of democracy within the EU institutions. Even the pro European Liberal Democrats have said that the certain parts of the EU need to be reformed. One of the main reforms supported by the major parties is the reform of the EU budget to get better value for money, as they believe that the UK pays too much into the budget and does not get as much out of it as it pays in. A policy that the all parties wish to reform is the Common Agricultural Policy. The CAP takes up 32% of the EU s budget, but only supports a small minority of EU businesses. They believe that the CAP makes food more expensive in the EU than it needs to be, and that it increases poverty in poor countries by competing unfairly with local farmers. The major parties also support reform of the Common Fisheries Policy, with all three voting in favour of reform of the CFP in the European Parliament in February 2013. The Liberal Democrats and ...
