Fatima Mernissi s Dreams Of Trespass
The story of Fatima Mernissi is truly an enchanting and empowering one. In the book Dreams of
Trespass, we are given a glimpse of the young girl s adventurous life in a traditional Moroccan harem
during the 1940 s and early 1950 s. Through her journey in the harem, we see how life in the harem
can be enchanting and confined at the same time. In this book, Fatima elaborates life in a traditional
Moroccan harem, what a harem really means, the many women in her life that continuously challenge
the norms of her culture and society, and how that has inspired her to dream big and work towards
achieving freedom outside of the frontiers. In the beginning of the book, Fatima begins to describe life
at the Mernissi household. Fatima lived in a Moroccan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That is something I too asked myself multiple times while reading the book. That is something that
Fatima herself questioned many times while she was growing up. Something I immediately began to
adore about Fatima while reading her tales was her unstoppable curiosity and need to ask questions.
She asks many questions to feel more knowledgeable and to understand her surroundings. However,
as we learn about the many things forbidden inside the harem, Fatima tells us that asking too many
questions is one of them. That is only because asking a question such as what is a harem? is not really
a question that the adults will volunteer to answer (Mernissi, 39). Like many children do, Fatima and
her cousins loved to break rules. Fatima, Samir, and their other cousin, Malika used to occasionally
climb onto the forbidden terrace. According to Fatima, Samir and Malika s main purpose to climb
onto the highest terrace was to push their investigation of harems further. They would sit there and
ponder on the unanswered questions by the adults and find out the truth behind these questions. They
would ask each other rather simple questions: Is a harem a house in which a man lives with many
wives? Do all married men have harems? Can you have more than one master in a harem? (Mernissi,
150) As simple as these questions sound, they figured that the answers to these questions were more
complicated than they thought. They used their own harem and other harems they knew up to answers
these questions but eventually never found the true answer. While many of the adults gave different
answers to what a harem, it was truly Lalla Yasmina, Fatima s maternal grandmother who gave her
true closer on the definition of a harem. She explained to Fatima, The word harem was a slight
variation to the word haram, the forbidden, the proscribed. It was the opposite of halal, the
permissible. Harem was the place where

A Comparison Of Greek And Norse Mythology
Greek and Norse mythologies both use different methods to enlighten readers on ordinary matters.
Each of the myths has it s own original way of explaining concepts, such as the creation of life and
mankind. In the Greek myth, Earth was created after the birth of Love and Light. It states, in the Greek
myth, From darkness and from death Love was born, ... Love created Light ... What took place next
was the creation of the earth. (Hamilton 77) The Greek myth creates more of a pleasurable and
aesthetic feel to the creation of Earth. Whereas, in the Norse myth, they explicate in greater detail the
process. For example, it explains how after Odin, the sky king, killed Ymir he made the earth and the
sky from him, the sea from his blood, the earth

Examples Of Loyalty In The Odyssey
Loyalty is the act of being faithful to one s leader or party and keeping their commitments. In the
Odyssey, loyalty is shown by Odysseus and his men as they make their long, treacherous journey
home to Ithaca after the long battle of Troy. This story explains how showing loyalty to others is key
in any relationship. In the Odyssey, Odysseus is loyal to his men while his men are loyal to him,
making a good relationship. In the beginning, it summarizes the journey made by Odysseus and his
men. It says, while he [Odysseus] fought only to save his life, to bring his shipmates home (Homer
895). This quote shows that Odysseus is fighting to save his shipmates lives and bring them back
home to their families. By doing this, Odysseus is

Representation Of Women
Representation is the portrayal of something or someone in a particular way. In media every gender,
race and ethnicity is represented in a certain way. Over the years women have been represented

In this image we see two 13 year olds of different generations, the one on the left was taken 10 years
ago and the one on the right was taken 2 years ago. We can see a clear distinction between then and
now. The photo on the left shows a young teenage girl wearing jeans and a shirt with a jacket. If she is
wearing any makeup it is very neutral and innocent, the image doesn t show off any assets or suggests
anything sexual. Whereas the image to he right she is wearing a pantsuit with a really low V cut. She
has a full face of makeup on and her hair slicked back into a high ponytail. The difference that a
decade can make blows my mind. Children are being exposed to women wearing small skimpy
clothing and a face full of make up. I believe that since they are on T.V children are looking up to
them wanting to be like them. This is where children are exposed to how men are treating women and
how women are treating themselves. Kids don t know any better they just want to be like their
favourite movie star or singer and copy how they act, dress and present themselves. This is why
society is like this nowadays. Back when music videos were innocent and didn t represent women as a
sexual icon it was okay for children to watch them, but nowadays parents need to be very aware of
what their children are watching, even if

Low-Back Pain Analysis
The study of form phase movements attracts vital attention from many areas like animation
production, computer game console, ergonomics, sport medication, rehabilitation and medical
specialty analysis. This project was galvanized by the activity Health Department at Ryerson
University. Manual material handling, notably lifting poses a risk to several staff and is taken into
account a serious reason for work related low back pain and impairment. The whole value of low back
pain disorders within the U.S was calculable to be $90 billion in 1998, and prices have continued to
extend. The augmented prevalence of low back pain within the world and its potential future
magnitude has driven several researchers to go looking for the simplest ways for estimating the

What Causes Romeo And Juliet To Blame
Blame is when a person assigns blame to others. People resort to blame because it soften the blow for
them and helps relieve them from feeling guilty. In the play Romeo and Juliet, blame plays the factor
of placing the deaths of Romeo and Juliet into someone s hand so their families could have peace.
Blame is placed when people know they are wrong but no not want the guilt. Romeo and Juliet are
both to blame for their deaths. Both of them together made rash decisions and did not wait to tell the
other person their plans to stay together. In the play Juliet went to Friar Laurence hoping to protect
herself from her father. She took a drink from a substance he gave her without Romeo knowing and
Romeo saw her after thinking she was dead so he drank poison to be with her. It caused the ripple
effect of them wanted to do everything to be together but they did one thing after another and caused
their own death. Following this, Romeo got himself in trouble for Juliet because he was not thinking

Margaret Sanger s Margaret Louise Sanger
According to the biography, Margaret Louise Sanger (2007), Margaret was born on September 14,
1879 in Corning, New York. She was born to her parents, Anne Purcell and Michael Hennessey
Higgins, who were Irish Catholic Immigrants. Shortly after the birth of her eleventh child, Anne
Purcell died from tuberculosis; Margaret was nineteen ( The Pill n.d.). While Margaret was the sixth
of eleven children, she and her first husband, William Sanger, had three children together ( Margaret
Louise Sanger 2007). After a long life of nursing and advocating, Margaret died in Tucson, Arizona on

Although there are many supporters of Margaret Sanger s efforts, there are also people who combat
these efforts by mentioning Sanger s original mission which was to use birth control as a means of
reducing genetically transmitted mental and physical defects as mentioned in Jennifer Chesworth s
article entitled Margaret Sanger (2005). Chesworth also mentioned how different her views were from
that of Nazi Germany, which was mostly based on reactionary eugenics . One of Margaret s most
popular projects, which was co founded with W.E.B. Du Bois, was The Negro Project . Due to
segregation, birth control clinics in the South were closed to black women. The goal of this project
was to open birth control clinics staffed by black doctors and nurses that also doubled as education
centers for these women (Gandy 2015). According to Jennifer Chesworth s article, Margaret Sanger
(2005), Sanger opened the first birth control clinic in 1916 in Brooklyn, New York. Due to the clinic s
opening, she and her staff were arrested. When they were released, they opened the second clinic,
called the Birth Control Clinical Research Bureau. Here, females doctors and social workers were
hired to research contraceptives and their effectiveness. Later, she founded the American Birth Control
Federation which then turned into the Birth Control Federation of American. The Birth Control
Federation of American was the precursor to the Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

The Effects Of Norm Violation On The Perception Of Power
Investigation of the Effects of Norm Violation
On the Perception of Power Power governs our society. A powerful person is one that has authority
over others. This sense of authority relieves them of the restrictions a person of lesser power might
face, allowing them to make and break rules. The four studies conducted in Breaking the Rules to Rise
to Power: How Norm Violators Gain Power in the Eyes of Others by Gerben A. Van Kleef, Astrid C.
Homan, Catrin Finkenauer, Seval Gu ̈ndemir and Eftychia Stamkou, explores the concept of power
and transgression. Such that if powerful people are expected to act against the norm, then acting
against the norm should make people seem more powerful. The overall study focused on the

(Van Kleef et al., 2011)
The study examined the response of 25 females and 15 men with a mean age of 19.53 on two scales.
The first scale was a 25 question questionnaire consisting of adjectives that described social
impressions of power and norm violation, which was then rated on a scale from 1 to 7 with 1 being
definitely not and 7 being definitely. The second scale asked participants to indicate the extent to
which the power statements This person is influential ; . . . has a leadership position ; . . . is in charge
of subordinates ; . . . enjoys considerable authority (Van Kleef et al., 2011), applied to the person
depicted in the scenario.
Results and Discussions Participants rated the actor that took the cup of coffee from the personnel
with a higher norm violation score than the actor that went to the bathroom. This indicated that they
recognized that the behavior of the actor that took the coffee cup was wrong. Despite that, the
participants rated that actor to be more powerful than the actor that went to the bathroom on both
scales. This gives the first evidence that violating the norm influences the perception of power (Van
Kleef et al., 2011).
Study 2: The Bookkeeper Study 2 employed a different type of norm violation to examine if the
affects show in study 1 would repeat. One hundred and sixty nine participants of unspecified age and
sex were asked to read a scenario about a bookkeeper that follows the rule and one that does

Fast And The Furious Tokyo Drift Movie
Learning How to Drift
So you ve been wanting to learn how to drift ever since you saw the Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift
movie. Drifting seems so cool right? For those who have no idea what drifting is all about, it is a
driving method that lets you steer around corners in a fun, exciting, and challenging way.
Some street racers and drag racers switch to drifting when they start to get bored. Drifting allows you
to slide around the corners using two techniques: clutch based and brake based.
Drifting Techniques
Clutch based
1. Clutch kick drift Grip the clutch, escalate the rpm and downshift. Then release the clutch to allow
the back wheels to lose its traction.
2. Shift lock drift Downshift the gear, lower down the rpm and release the clutch. This causes the back

Feint drift Steer the car outwards to move the weight to the outer wheels. Then quickly steer back and
once the suspension kicks back, the weight shifts creating a drift.
3. Swaying drift It is similar to a feint drift but starts with a long approach to a turn. Maintain the drift
by steering side to side.
4. Jump drift Steer the rear tire to shift the weight to the outer wheels. This will reduce the traction to
generate a drift.
5. Dynamic drift Turn at a fast speed and release the gas. This will shift the weight to the front wheels
and lessen the traction to create a drift.
6. E brake drift Turn the corner and pull the emergency brake to lock the rear wheels. Steer to produce
a drift.
7. Power over drift Accelerate into the turn to make the back wheels drift. You need a lot of
horsepower to do this.
8. Long slide drift Approach a turn with a long straightway with high speed. Pull the emergency brake
to start the drift.
Remember, getting the right method of braking requires much practice. Over breaking can lead to over
steering which may cause your vehicle to spin uncontrollably. On the other hand, lack of braking will
cause you to understeer. This isn t safe

Essay on The Narrative Voice in Northanger Abbey by Jane...
Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen expresses the powerful narrative voice. The narrative voice that she
uses is different from other novels. Most authors try to hide their presence in their novels but Jane
Austen does not try to hide her presence. Her presence in the novel is so clear. For example, The
advantages of natural folly in a beautiful girl have been already set forth by the capital pen of sister
author, and her treatment of the subject I will only add (Austen 81). She tries not to trick her reader as
he/she reads the novel. Instead she informs the reader that the book itself is just a novel. Her purpose
is not to convince the reader and correct her story, but to understand the imperfection of language
because language does not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is telling him her version of the story, which then filtered through Lockwood s perspective. Nelly
is undependable narrator because she keeps important information about other characters and events.
Lockwood is also not a dependable narrator because he does not fully understands the circumstance
and might be misinterprets the stories that are told by Nelly.
In Wuthering Heights, Emily Bronte uses Mr. Lockwood to show that language is not enough to tell
the truth and understand the other person. When Mr. Lockwood greets Heathcliff on their first
encounter, Lockwood misjudges Heathcliff. He writes, Mr. Heathcliff and I are such a suitable pair to
divide the desolation between us (Bronte 1). Also he describes Heathcliff as a capital fellow (Bronte
1).
Bronte illustrates that the truth can be manipulated rather than fixed. And it can be manipulated by
depending on who is telling the story. She points out that language is manipulated by unreliable people
like Lockwood and Nelly. Jane Austen tries to make the reader doubt her stories so that they do not act
like Catherine how she makes mistakes about people and cannot distinguish between fiction and real
life. On the other hand, Bronte tries to make the reader to find and understand the various truths and
makes the reader doubt in both written and spoken words. Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen and
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte analyze the language that fails to

Health Care And Affordable Care Act
In 2010, Congress enacted the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in order to increase the
number of Americans covered by health insurance and decrease the cost of health care (Supreme
Court Opinion, 1). In America, it is a basic necessity to possess health care, logically, Congress would
like to make such a necessity more accessible to Americans. Due to a divided government, there are
variant views on whether this is necessary and just. Health care benefits all Americans; it is just a
matter of if the policy of a required national health care is beneficial. Under the Affordable Care Act,
the scope of the Medicaid program was expanded and the number of individuals the States must cover

16 27. By regulating the State s commerce, Congress is limiting what States really need to satisfy,
their residents. Each state is different, and so are their residents. Simply enforcing a standard cookie
cutter health plan forces States to ignore their previous needs, and budgetary challenges; Each state
should be able to develop solutions that meet its specific needs (Robert E. Moffit, Ph. D). Not only do
states desire their unique health care for themselves, but for their citizens as well. Although the ACA is
arguably for the public good, only a certain class desires such a health care, not every citizen. Yet, if
citizens refuse this health care, a penalty is imposed. The payment is not so high that there is really no
choice but to buy health insurance; the payment is not limited to willful violations, as penalties for
unlawful acts often are; and the payment is collected solely by the IRS through the normal means of
taxation . (Supreme Court Opinion) Yet, a payment can be major for those who: do not have the means
to pay for it, and disagree with the health care plan. Also, the new law adds a number of health care
services that insurers must cover and in some cases restricts the ability of insurers and employer self
insured health plans to impose limits on the amount of services patients can consume. This
combination will drive up health plan costs and premiums for both individual insurance and employer
group coverage (Edmund F. Haislmaier). Yet,

The Human Of Human Cloning
1. INTRODUCTION
Human cloning is the creation of a genetically identical copy of a human. However, this term not only
refers to the entire artificial human, but also the reproduction of human cells and tissues. There are
two types of theoretical human cloning: reproductive cloning which would involve making an entire
cloned human and the other, therapeutic cloning, which would involve cloning cells from a human for
use in medicine and transplants by somatic cell nuclear transfer or pluripotent stem cell induction. In
reproductive cloning the entire genetic code is reproduced from a single body cell of an adult
individual. The most common cloning technique is somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT). The
procedure is as follows:

iPSCs are typically derived by introducing products of specific sets of pluripotency associated genes,
or reprogramming factors , into a given cell type.
2. ISSUES
Although the human cloning seems fairly beneficial and useful for human welfare, the possibility of
human cloning has raised controversies. Concerning reproductive cloning, advocates believe that
parents who cannot otherwise procreate should have access to the technology. Some opponents have
concerns that technology is not yet developed enough to be safe while others emphasize that
reproductive cloning could be prone to abuse (leading to the generation of humans whose organs and
tissues would be harvested), and have concerns about how cloned individuals could integrate with
families and with society at large. With regards to therapeutic cloning, the problem is that many
attempts are often required to create a viable egg. The stability of the egg with the infused somatic
nucleus is poor and it can require hundreds of attempts before success is attained. Therapeutic cloning
does result in the destruction of an embryo after stem cells are extracted and this destruction has
stirred controversy over the morality of the procedure. Some argue that the pros outweigh the cons
with regards to treating disease and support development of therapeutic cloning in order to generate
tissues and whole

The Gospel Of John And The Writing Of His Gospel
Reading through the Gospel of John can bring up many questions about the fourth canonical book and
the writing of his gospel. Some of those questions have answers and some do not. In this essay we will
take a look at some of them that has biblical answers. The first question is did John write the gospel
bearing his name? Second, who was the audience that he was writing to? Third, what was the purpose
of John writing the gospel?
Did John write the gospel bearing his name? In the gospel of John it never provides the name of the
author. There are no other indications in the bible either. There are two important factors that tell us
that John is the author. In the Gospel of John it identifies the author as the disciple whom Jesus loved.
This likely pointed to John and there are three reasons. First, John was one of the twelve disciples, he
was a witness of the actual events (John 21:14). He was part of the inner circle of the disciples
because Mary told him first of the resurrection (John 20:1 10). John was distinguished from others in
the book. The Gospel of John was discovered around AD 135. However, some scholars think that it
was written (AD 70) when Jerusalem was destroyed. This writer believes that AD 85 90 is the more
accepted time for the writing of the Gospel of John.
Who was the audience that he was writing to? John was writing to the church, I believe that he was
also writing to the people who did not believe. John focuses on the divinity of Jesus Christ. The

Your plans for planting flowers should begin in the middle of winter. Landscaping for the birds is
begun by trees and bushes. Some flowers attract birds of certain types. The birds are not always in
need of the blossoms themselves. They are in need of the seeds which come later. The different types
of daisies form seeds which are generous and nutritious. The seeds are then left for the birds to feed
on. When the seed heads have been dried, you will get sparrows, finches, cardinals, and towhes. This
is why you should avoid deadheading all the blossoms once blooming is over. The blossoms will
appear first. In winter, your garden will bloom with finches and cardinals. Zinnias are easy flowers for
one to grow. Birds love them for their seeds. The colors that you choose are very important. The
zinnias will attract butterflies to your yard and these will provide food for the birds. Hummingbirds
These types of birds are easily drawn by the red color. To attract these birds, plant red flowers in your
garden. These birds usually check for anything red in your environment. Flowers of other colors can
be planted for provision of nectar to the

Why Study Cuba
The possibility to experience the culture of a new place excites me. I believe that studying abroad can
turn into an adventure filled with the chance to acquire knowledge and encounter new skills. However,
I do not want to visit just any place. A trip to Cuba will allow me to better understand the Spanish
language and culture there. I know that the best way to learn a language is to be immersed in it. The
complexity of the language, Spanish, comes from the variations in the way it is spoken. Cuba speaks it
in a unique way just like many other Spanish speaking place. Therefore, going there would teach me
better than any textbook or classroom could. As I continue my education with a Spanish minor,
traveling to Cuba will allow me to surround myself with the dialect which will further my ability to
speak it. I would be very grateful if I was given the opportunity to explore the historic city of Havana
along with touring the Cuban countryside. Pictures, videos and other forms of portrayal of the island
that I have seen reveal gorgeous sights. The old architecture in the ... Show more content on

This particular study abroad program interest me due to the area of topic. I believe that analyzing
literature from a Cuban author would give me a perspective of someone who knows the culture well,
and at the same time I will be able to make my own opinions of the culture while I m interacting with
people in Cuba. This study abroad would teach me more about Cuban history which fascinates me
greatly. The topic seems appealing because of everything that has happened in the past between Cuba
and other nations. I am still unclear on some parts Cuban international relations. The intrigue to find
out what has happened within this country makes me want to travel here and learn more about Cuba.

Critical Analysis Of Robert Reich s Inequality For All
In the documentary titled Inequality for All , Robert Reich attempts to describe to the audience and his
students reasons for the income inequality found in the United States. Inequality for All showed an
endearing and caring side of Reich, where he made himself seem human and fallible. I found myself
personally enjoying this side of him, the short aging man who, although a Rhodes Scholar drives a
Cooper and holds himself above politics.
After reflection and research, one can quickly see where Mr. Reich uses emotion and imagery to build
a false argument. His attempts to pull the emotional strings of the audience begin with his extreme
shortness caused by a medical affliction. We move to Reich driving an inexpensive car with a manual
transmission. Then we meet a woman having difficulty making ends meet and crying while relating
her story. Reich shows the audience and his students a Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) graph
with a hockey stick curve so sharp it was astounding. I had to pause the film so I could research this
graph as the visual was so extraordinary. I found an online interactive graph of the DJIA using data for
the last 8 or 9 decades. I could not create any data set that produced the theatrical image shown in the
film. This, however, is typical Robert Reich, shocking graphs with no numbers. He just uses them as
pictures to demonstrate an emotional point, never mind there is no substance, just emotion.
Attempting to illustrate the income inequality, we were introduced to the graph showing a U shaped
curve . Reich, Saez and Piketty wanted to present that curve represented income disparity from 1900
to present day. Reich and his cohorts wanted to focus on the timeline of the graph from around 1920 to
1940. It seems this was a time where the income differential was much less than present day and they
want to get back to that time.
News flash gentlemen, that was the World War I and Great Depression era. Capital was devalued or

High Failure Rate In Healthcare
There are an abundance of issues that contribute to the relatively high failure rate of IT projects in
healthcare. I believe the primary reason for this high failure rate is the complexity of healthcare
including complex and fluid processes and a varied workforce ranging from physician and nurse to lab
technician and aide (Boonstra, Versluis, Vos, 2014). Another significant reason for this failure rate is
the need for a paradigm shift to accept HIT in the healthcare setting and to be open to process
changes/improvements (Shea Belden, 2016; Chiocchio, Rabbat, Lebel, 2015). As a nurse, I can attest
that the overwhelming attitude toward HIT and changes/improvements is poor; nurses appear to like
the status quo. Another issue that significantly contributes to HIT failures is the fact that healthcare is
extremely legislated. All HIT projects need to meet security, confidentiality, and regulatory constraints
(Boonstra et al., 2014). A project may appear relatively successful, for instance, an electronic medical
record is being used to pass medications, and on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The varied workforce often has difficulty with interdisciplinary collaboration regarding projects.
Project management is successful in other industries; therefore, it is a reasonable assumption that it
will work in healthcare; however, due to the healthcare professional s difficulty with project
management concepts, introducing project management into a healthcare organization provides some
challenges. I already discussed that the complexities of healthcare are a primary reason for HIT
failures, and since most healthcare professionals are not well versed in project management, they most
likely will not be the project manager. Therefore, someone without healthcare experience may be
given the role of a project manager which creates

Analysis Of Cocktail Party Economics By Adomait And...
Adomait and Richard Maranta discuss economic concepts and values in an interesting and simple way
where they are explained through understandable real life examples. Using their book Cocktail Party
Economics I was able to analyze how government intervention such as subsidies; which are grants of
money that are given to the Canadian agricultural markets and farms to keep their prices low, can
eventually cause the market to fail. (58) The article The growing problem argues that government
intervention was not the reason the agricultural market was inefficient, using Adomait and Richard s
book we can argue differently by explaining what happened followed by clarifying why people might
think government intervention was appropriate. After reading

Similarities Between Frankenstein And The Modern Prometheus
When Mary first wrote Frankenstein, she was debating over the name, she was thinking of either
Frankenstein or the Modern Prometheus. The Modern Prometheus was actually a pretty legitimate
option for this novel. The there are many similarities between Prometheus and the story of
Frankenstein, such as what Prometheus does to the gods and how he steals fire and meat, and how
Frankenstein manages to synthesize life and gift it to his creation.
Prometheus is the Greek titan, who is the God of forethought and crafty counsel. He was given the
task of making man from clay. He performed this task, and in doing so also tried to better the lives of
his creation, so he stole meat from the gods feast, and gave it to the humans. When Zeus discovered
that Prometheus had stolen meat, he punished him by withholding fire from him, but he in turn, stole
fire from the heavens in a fennel stalk and gave it to man as well. As a punishment for this, Zeus
ordered the creation of the first woman, Pandora, to bring misfortune into the house of man, and for
Prometheus to be tied up to a steak, where an eagle would feed on his ever regenerating liver. ... Show

Many of people would argue that this is stealing life and giving it to something that does not
necessarily deserve it. Many people believed that only God had the power to give life to an individual

through some sort of black magic. Victor Frankenstein can be compared to a very distant, and unaware

Colombia And The Revolutionary Armed Forces Of Colombia
In Colombia, a historic peace accord has been brokered between the government and the
Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) that is set to end half a century of conflict between
the state and the terrorist organization. The FARC rebels have long been a powerful member of the
cocaine trade in Colombia and beyond, aiding in the development and exportation of the drug to the
United States. With the alliance between the FARC rebels and the Colombian government pending,
the FARC will be demilitarized and integrated back into Colombian society for the first time in more
than 50 years. Upon this historic event, roughly 60% of Colombia s coca, the plant used to produce

government intervened in the situation, authorizing Plan Colombia, a $1.3 billion aid package
intended to reinforce the Colombian government and build up their military. With this support, anti
drug programs were initiated that slowed the FARC profits from the drug trade, today leaving the
FARC controlling 60% of the world s coca crops and earning anywhere from $200 million up to $1
billion annually from the drug trade. The current peace accord talks began on February 23, 2012,
when delegates from both the FARC and the Colombian government started meeting covertly in
Havana, Cuba. Following the formation of the Havana Accord on August 26 of that same year, formal
peace negotiations began on September 4. This accord makes clear six focal points: (1) integrated
agricultural development policy, (2) political participation for the FARC, (3) end of the conflict
Disarmament, (4) solution to the problem of illicit drugs, (5) victims, and (6) implementation,
verification, and ratification by the Colombian People. For the purposes of this paper, agenda points 1
and 4 will be most heavily referenced and analyzed. Agenda Item 1 was agreed upon on May 26,
2013. The Rural Reform Agreement focuses on the people, the small producer, land access and
distribution, the fight against poverty, stimuli to agricultural and livestock production and the
reactivation of the rural economy. The success of this endeavor is critical to eliminating the

Hieroglyph Research Paper
The civilization of the pharaohs went into eclipse more 2000 years ago when it conquered by
Alexander the Great and came under the Hellenistic rule of the Ptolemy dynasty. The word Hieroglyph
derives from the Greek for sacred carving . In the first century BC, Siculus believed that the Egyptian
writings was built up from the appearance of the things drawn and by their metaphorical meaning,
which was learned by heart. Whereas Horapollo, in the 4th century AD or later believed that the
hieroglyphs were both fictitious and genuine. During 1419, a manuscript was discovered on a Greek
island, which lead the Greek and Roman to believe in hieroglyphic wisdom. A Venetian named Pierius
Valerianus, was the first to write a whole book on the hieroglyphs in 1556. Moving to 1666, the year

speaker is traveling in a narrow canyon road where he comes upon a dead mother deer. He must
decide whether to try and save the fawn or let nature take it s course. The speaker decides to push the

is the best decision to save the most amount of lives. In addition, the speaker knows that it is too
dangerous to be on that road. The speaker states, to swerve might make more dead. The road is on a
mountain so for someone to swerve around the mess of the deer would send the careening into

In the last quarter of 2008, the three companies jointly spent eighteen billion dollars of their reserve

help. On November 19, 2008, the three companies flew their private jets to the nation s capital for the
House Financial Services Committee meeting, and asked for a twenty five billion dollar loan. The
companies were chastised for asking for money when they obviously had money to spend on private

Interpreting The Clansman: A Historical Romance of the Ku Klux Klan and the Kloran
Thomas Dixon Jr. wrote The Clansman: A Historical Romance of the Ku Klux Klan (or simply The
Clansman) which was based largely on his background in religion. He was a Southern Baptist
minister. The Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) is a Christian denomination based in the United
States. It is the world s largest Baptist denomination and the largest Protestant body in the United
States.
The Ku Klux Klan is fundamentally a white supremacist group that believes the Caucasian race is
inherently above all others in the eyes of God. They are well organized, to the point that they use the
Kloran as a sort of guideline for their rituals and practices. As a primary source of knowledge, the

Through propaganda and editorialized works of hate like both The Clansman and the Kloran, violence

  • 2. Fatima Mernissi s Dreams Of Trespass The story of Fatima Mernissi is truly an enchanting and empowering one. In the book Dreams of Trespass, we are given a glimpse of the young girl s adventurous life in a traditional Moroccan harem during the 1940 s and early 1950 s. Through her journey in the harem, we see how life in the harem can be enchanting and confined at the same time. In this book, Fatima elaborates life in a traditional Moroccan harem, what a harem really means, the many women in her life that continuously challenge the norms of her culture and society, and how that has inspired her to dream big and work towards achieving freedom outside of the frontiers. In the beginning of the book, Fatima begins to describe life at the Mernissi household. Fatima lived in a Moroccan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That is something I too asked myself multiple times while reading the book. That is something that Fatima herself questioned many times while she was growing up. Something I immediately began to adore about Fatima while reading her tales was her unstoppable curiosity and need to ask questions. She asks many questions to feel more knowledgeable and to understand her surroundings. However, as we learn about the many things forbidden inside the harem, Fatima tells us that asking too many questions is one of them. That is only because asking a question such as what is a harem? is not really a question that the adults will volunteer to answer (Mernissi, 39). Like many children do, Fatima and her cousins loved to break rules. Fatima, Samir, and their other cousin, Malika used to occasionally climb onto the forbidden terrace. According to Fatima, Samir and Malika s main purpose to climb onto the highest terrace was to push their investigation of harems further. They would sit there and ponder on the unanswered questions by the adults and find out the truth behind these questions. They would ask each other rather simple questions: Is a harem a house in which a man lives with many wives? Do all married men have harems? Can you have more than one master in a harem? (Mernissi, 150) As simple as these questions sound, they figured that the answers to these questions were more complicated than they thought. They used their own harem and other harems they knew up to answers these questions but eventually never found the true answer. While many of the adults gave different answers to what a harem, it was truly Lalla Yasmina, Fatima s maternal grandmother who gave her true closer on the definition of a harem. She explained to Fatima, The word harem was a slight variation to the word haram, the forbidden, the proscribed. It was the opposite of halal, the permissible. Harem was the place where ... • 3. A Comparison Of Greek And Norse Mythology Greek and Norse mythologies both use different methods to enlighten readers on ordinary matters. Each of the myths has it s own original way of explaining concepts, such as the creation of life and mankind. In the Greek myth, Earth was created after the birth of Love and Light. It states, in the Greek myth, From darkness and from death Love was born, ... Love created Light ... What took place next was the creation of the earth. (Hamilton 77) The Greek myth creates more of a pleasurable and aesthetic feel to the creation of Earth. Whereas, in the Norse myth, they explicate in greater detail the process. For example, it explains how after Odin, the sky king, killed Ymir he made the earth and the sky from him, the sea from his blood, the earth ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the Odyssey, loyalty is shown by Odysseus and his men as they make their long, treacherous journey home to Ithaca after the long battle of Troy. This story explains how showing loyalty to others is key in any relationship. In the Odyssey, Odysseus is loyal to his men while his men are loyal to him, making a good relationship. In the beginning, it summarizes the journey made by Odysseus and his men. It says, while he [Odysseus] fought only to save his life, to bring his shipmates home (Homer 895). Over the years women have been represented stereotypically as sex symbols and have been objectified to men. In this essay I will be talking about how women are represented in the media. I will be using Beyonce s music video Run the world , Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke featuring Pharrell and T.I and All in my head by Fifth Harmony featuring Fetty Wap. Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke ft Pharrell, T.I was a success worldwide. Released in March 2013 this R B song peaked number one in at least 25 countries. If she is wearing any makeup it is very neutral and innocent, the image doesn t show off any assets or suggests anything sexual. Whereas the image to he right she is wearing a pantsuit with a really low V cut. She has a full face of makeup on and her hair slicked back into a high ponytail. The difference that a decade can make blows my mind. Children are being exposed to women wearing small skimpy clothing and a face full of make up. I believe that since they are on T.V children are looking up to them wanting to be like them. This is where children are exposed to how men are treating women and how women are treating themselves. Kids don t know any better they just want to be like their favourite movie star or singer and copy how they act, dress and present themselves. This is why society is like this nowadays. Back when music videos were innocent and didn t represent women as a sexual icon it was okay for children to watch them, but nowadays parents need to be very aware of what their children are watching, even if ... Chesworth also mentioned how different her views were from that of Nazi Germany, which was mostly based on reactionary eugenics . One of Margaret s most popular projects, which was co founded with W.E.B. Du Bois, was The Negro Project . Due to segregation, birth control clinics in the South were closed to black women. The goal of this project was to open birth control clinics staffed by black doctors and nurses that also doubled as education centers for these women (Gandy 2015). According to Jennifer Chesworth s article, Margaret Sanger (2005), Sanger opened the first birth control clinic in 1916 in Brooklyn, New York. Due to the clinic s opening, she and her staff were arrested. When they were released, they opened the second clinic, called the Birth Control Clinical Research Bureau. • 9. The Effects Of Norm Violation On The Perception Of Power Investigation of the Effects of Norm Violation On the Perception of Power Power governs our society. A powerful person is one that has authority over others. This sense of authority relieves them of the restrictions a person of lesser power might face, allowing them to make and break rules. The four studies conducted in Breaking the Rules to Rise to Power: How Norm Violators Gain Power in the Eyes of Others by Gerben A. Van Kleef, Astrid C. Homan, Catrin Finkenauer, Seval Gu ̈ndemir and Eftychia Stamkou, explores the concept of power and transgression. The first scale was a 25 question questionnaire consisting of adjectives that described social impressions of power and norm violation, which was then rated on a scale from 1 to 7 with 1 being definitely not and 7 being definitely. The second scale asked participants to indicate the extent to which the power statements This person is influential ; . . . has a leadership position ; . . . is in charge of subordinates ; . . . enjoys considerable authority (Van Kleef et al., 2011), applied to the person depicted in the scenario. Results and Discussions Participants rated the actor that took the cup of coffee from the personnel with a higher norm violation score than the actor that went to the bathroom. This indicated that they recognized that the behavior of the actor that took the coffee cup was wrong. Despite that, the participants rated that actor to be more powerful than the actor that went to the bathroom on both scales. This gives the first evidence that violating the norm influences the perception of power (Van Kleef et al., 2011). • 11. Essay on The Narrative Voice in Northanger Abbey by Jane... Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen expresses the powerful narrative voice. The narrative voice that she uses is different from other novels. Most authors try to hide their presence in their novels but Jane Austen does not try to hide her presence. Her presence in the novel is so clear. For example, The advantages of natural folly in a beautiful girl have been already set forth by the capital pen of sister author, and her treatment of the subject I will only add (Austen 81). She tries not to trick her reader as he/she reads the novel. Instead she informs the reader that the book itself is just a novel. Nelly is undependable narrator because she keeps important information about other characters and events. In Wuthering Heights, Emily Bronte uses Mr. Lockwood to show that language is not enough to tell the truth and understand the other person. When Mr. Lockwood greets Heathcliff on their first encounter, Lockwood misjudges Heathcliff. He writes, Mr. Heathcliff and I are such a suitable pair to divide the desolation between us (Bronte 1). Also he describes Heathcliff as a capital fellow (Bronte 1). Bronte illustrates that the truth can be manipulated rather than fixed. And it can be manipulated by depending on who is telling the story. She points out that language is manipulated by unreliable people like Lockwood and Nelly. Jane Austen tries to make the reader doubt her stories so that they do not act like Catherine how she makes mistakes about people and cannot distinguish between fiction and real life. Health Care And Affordable Care Act In 2010, Congress enacted the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in order to increase the number of Americans covered by health insurance and decrease the cost of health care (Supreme Court Opinion, 1). In America, it is a basic necessity to possess health care, logically, Congress would like to make such a necessity more accessible to Americans. Due to a divided government, there are variant views on whether this is necessary and just. Each state is different, and so are their residents. Simply enforcing a standard cookie cutter health plan forces States to ignore their previous needs, and budgetary challenges; Each state should be able to develop solutions that meet its specific needs (Robert E. Moffit, Ph. D). Not only do states desire their unique health care for themselves, but for their citizens as well. Although the ACA is arguably for the public good, only a certain class desires such a health care, not every citizen. Yet, if citizens refuse this health care, a penalty is imposed. The payment is not so high that there is really no choice but to buy health insurance; the payment is not limited to willful violations, as penalties for unlawful acts often are; and the payment is collected solely by the IRS through the normal means of taxation . (Supreme Court Opinion) Yet, a payment can be major for those who: do not have the means to pay for it, and disagree with the health care plan. Also, the new law adds a number of health care services that insurers must cover and in some cases restricts the ability of insurers and employer self insured health plans to impose limits on the amount of services patients can consume. This combination will drive up health plan costs and premiums for both individual insurance and employer group coverage (Edmund F. Haislmaier). Yet, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. The Human Of Human Cloning 1. INTRODUCTION Human cloning is the creation of a genetically identical copy of a human. However, this term not only refers to the entire artificial human, but also the reproduction of human cells and tissues. There are two types of theoretical human cloning: reproductive cloning which would involve making an entire cloned human and the other, therapeutic cloning, which would involve cloning cells from a human for use in medicine and transplants by somatic cell nuclear transfer or pluripotent stem cell induction. In reproductive cloning the entire genetic code is reproduced from a single body cell of an adult individual. The most common cloning technique is somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT). The procedure is as follows: The ... ISSUES Although the human cloning seems fairly beneficial and useful for human welfare, the possibility of human cloning has raised controversies. Concerning reproductive cloning, advocates believe that parents who cannot otherwise procreate should have access to the technology. Some opponents have concerns that technology is not yet developed enough to be safe while others emphasize that reproductive cloning could be prone to abuse (leading to the generation of humans whose organs and tissues would be harvested), and have concerns about how cloned individuals could integrate with families and with society at large. With regards to therapeutic cloning, the problem is that many attempts are often required to create a viable egg. The stability of the egg with the infused somatic nucleus is poor and it can require hundreds of attempts before success is attained. Therapeutic cloning does result in the destruction of an embryo after stem cells are extracted and this destruction has stirred controversy over the morality of the procedure. Some argue that the pros outweigh the cons with regards to treating disease and support development of therapeutic cloning in order to generate tissues and whole ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In James Thurber s short story, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, the main character, Mr. Mitty, immerses himself into an alternate reality several times throughout the piece to escape the hollow, unexciting life he leads. These instances in which he takes the place of others in more thrilling situations are spurred by actual occurrences in his own life. Through the use of these alternate realities, Thurber shows the monotony of an average life and how even average beings search to test the waters of heroicness and bravery in important occupations. The story begins as Mitty is captain on a Navy hydroplane in one of the worst storms in Navy history. This dream was most likely egged on due to the fact that when this story takes place, the ... The fact that Walter performs the surgery without the direction of the two other experts fortifies the idea that he only wishes to become a hero and not a zero. After Walter realizes that he is driving in the wrong lane, due to his daydreaming, he leaves his car in the care of a valet and goes about his business of purchasing some new overshoes. Mitty soon remembers that he was to not only buy the shoes, but something else. As he is standing in the street he hears something about the Waterbury trial from a paperboy. As if by magic, Mr. Mitty is slung into a courtroom and is on trial now as a murderer, a cocky murderer on trial for shooting Gregory Fitzhurst. He shows, yet again, how he longs to be the best and under no control by telling the prosecution attorney that he is an expert ?with any known make of gun.? The point that he shows that no one or thing has control over him is his telling the court that even though his arm is bandaged, he could have shot the man over three hundred yards away with his left hand, which shows that even physical ailments nor practicality have any control what so ever on the man. • 18. The Gospel Of John And The Writing Of His Gospel Reading through the Gospel of John can bring up many questions about the fourth canonical book and the writing of his gospel. Some of those questions have answers and some do not. In this essay we will take a look at some of them that has biblical answers. The first question is did John write the gospel bearing his name? Second, who was the audience that he was writing to? Third, what was the purpose of John writing the gospel? Did John write the gospel bearing his name? In the gospel of John it never provides the name of the author. There are no other indications in the bible either. There are two important factors that tell us that John is the author. In the Gospel of John it identifies the author as the disciple whom Jesus loved. This likely pointed to John and there are three reasons. First, John was one of the twelve disciples, he was a witness of the actual events (John 21:14). He was part of the inner circle of the disciples because Mary told him first of the resurrection (John 20:1 10). John was distinguished from others in the book. The Gospel of John was discovered around AD 135. However, some scholars think that it was written (AD 70) when Jerusalem was destroyed. This writer believes that AD 85 90 is the more accepted time for the writing of the Gospel of John. Who was the audience that he was writing to? John was writing to the church, I believe that he was also writing to the people who did not believe. John focuses on the divinity of Jesus Christ. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. Critical Analysis Of Robert Reich s Inequality For All In the documentary titled Inequality for All , Robert Reich attempts to describe to the audience and his students reasons for the income inequality found in the United States. Inequality for All showed an endearing and caring side of Reich, where he made himself seem human and fallible. I found myself personally enjoying this side of him, the short aging man who, although a Rhodes Scholar drives a Cooper and holds himself above politics. After reflection and research, one can quickly see where Mr. Reich uses emotion and imagery to build a false argument. His attempts to pull the emotional strings of the audience begin with his extreme shortness caused by a medical affliction. We move to Reich driving an inexpensive car with a manual transmission. Then we meet a woman having difficulty making ends meet and crying while relating her story. Reich shows the audience and his students a Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) graph with a hockey stick curve so sharp it was astounding. I had to pause the film so I could research this graph as the visual was so extraordinary. I found an online interactive graph of the DJIA using data for the last 8 or 9 decades. I could not create any data set that produced the theatrical image shown in the film. This, however, is typical Robert Reich, shocking graphs with no numbers. He just uses them as pictures to demonstrate an emotional point, never mind there is no substance, just emotion. Attempting to illustrate the income inequality, we were introduced to the graph showing a U shaped curve . Reich, Saez and Piketty wanted to present that curve represented income disparity from 1900 to present day. Reich and his cohorts wanted to focus on the timeline of the graph from around 1920 to 1940. It seems this was a time where the income differential was much less than present day and they want to get back to that time. News flash gentlemen, that was the World War I and Great Depression era. • 25. High Failure Rate In Healthcare There are an abundance of issues that contribute to the relatively high failure rate of IT projects in healthcare. I believe the primary reason for this high failure rate is the complexity of healthcare including complex and fluid processes and a varied workforce ranging from physician and nurse to lab technician and aide (Boonstra, Versluis, Vos, 2014). Another significant reason for this failure rate is the need for a paradigm shift to accept HIT in the healthcare setting and to be open to process changes/improvements (Shea Belden, 2016; Chiocchio, Rabbat, Lebel, 2015). As a nurse, I can attest that the overwhelming attitude toward HIT and changes/improvements is poor; nurses appear to like the status quo. Another issue that significantly contributes to HIT failures is the fact that healthcare is extremely legislated. All HIT projects need to meet security, confidentiality, and regulatory constraints (Boonstra et al., 2014). Similarities Between Frankenstein And The Modern Prometheus When Mary first wrote Frankenstein, she was debating over the name, she was thinking of either Frankenstein or the Modern Prometheus. The Modern Prometheus was actually a pretty legitimate option for this novel. The there are many similarities between Prometheus and the story of Frankenstein, such as what Prometheus does to the gods and how he steals fire and meat, and how Frankenstein manages to synthesize life and gift it to his creation. Prometheus is the Greek titan, who is the God of forethought and crafty counsel. He was given the task of making man from clay. He performed this task, and in doing so also tried to better the lives of his creation, so he stole meat from the gods feast, and gave it to the humans. When Zeus discovered that Prometheus had stolen meat, he punished him by withholding fire from him, but he in turn, stole fire from the heavens in a fennel stalk and gave it to man as well.
