Short Summary Of Segu By Marys Conde
When Maryse Conde wrote the book Segu she tells what life would have been like at the point in
which slavery and Islam begin to take a hold on the African continent. It also shows the
implementations of it on life. Conde s description of Islam and Arabs throughout the story can be very
problematic view of society at that time for the reader.
There was confrontation between religion and culture on the African continent. There is an internal as
well as external struggle for the individuals in the story from religion and culture. When considering
slavery there had always been slavery of some sort throughout the African country. This would occur
when one clan conquered another and took some people as their spoils and to live in enslavement. The
culture of the native people is rather ritualistic and traditional. There are certain practices and
behaviors that appear to act as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Arabs are also portrayed as though they are not African or have no African identity. Instead just
being depicted as a temporary location for the Arabs to live in. The Arabic culture is also shown as
though it does not have culture instead the focus being religion and business. The Arabs are described
as though they see themselves better than everyone else; this can be depicted by this quote he had
hoped to be able to become part of the famous city, to make friends and connections there. But he
gradually came to see that this was impossible. The pride and arrogance of the scholars he came in
contact with ruled it out. A man had to be well born ...(Conde, 88). Although Tiekoro was muslim as
well he still was not accepted by the arabic community. Arabs are portrayed as snobbish. It has a sense
of foreshadowing that the Arabs will attempt to take over the continent and depriving the land. Even
the characters are shown as not having any type of compassion their only desire is to become wealthy

The Electronic Health Record Mandate
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the electronic health record mandate. Who started it and when?
I will discuss the goals of the mandate. I will discussion will how the Affordable Care Act ties into the
mandate of Electronic Health Record. It will describe my own facility s EHR and what steps are been
taken to implement it. I will describe the term meaningful use, and it will discuss possible threats to
patient confidentiality and the what s being done by my facility to prevent Health Information and
Portability Accountability Act or HIPAA violations.
Description of the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
The EHR mandate is an order set for when all healthcare records are to become electronic or
electronically kept and readily available. In 2004 president, Bush set a goal that all health records
would be electronic by 2014. It was assumed that Electronic Health Records (EHR) would promote
increased quality of health care and reduce costs, and also that the availability of electronic records
would reduce errors (simborg, 2008). Simborg also said, The addition of clinical decision support
functions in many EHRs to warn physicians to potential errors and influence their behaviors toward
evidence based decisions further enhances the potential of EHRs to promote quality and reduce costs.
(Simborg, 2008).
The main goals of the EHR mandate was to correct healthcare coordination amount the healthcare
team of hospitals, physicians, and the lab. It is to ensure that private

Don Giovanni Mood
The title character of Mozart s Don Giovanni embodies a figure that holds few ethical values, is
wealthy, and endlessly seduces various women. With the use of his servant, Leporello, Don Giovanni
is able to evade women who would like to marry him, such as Donna Elvira. Due to his treacherous
actions, at the end of the opera, Don Giovanni is forced to decide between accepting his fate in hell, or
renouncing his former lifestyle by ceasing his pursuit of women. Despite the dark ending, some scenes
of the opera are playful, and are even charismatic at times. As the scenes shift in mood, such as from
ominous to charismatic, the music composed for these scenes shift as well. Scene one in act II presents
an interesting illustration of shifts in moods, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Interestingly, the melody that Don Giovanni uses to serenade Donna Elvira s maid with, is similar to
the melody he used to woo Donna Elvira at 1:16 in the trio. However, the mandolin he used to
serenade the maid with makes the piece more playful, in comparison to Donna Elvira s song. By
reusing the same melody, Don Giovanni can be seen as using the same tricks to seduce women. It
seems even more heartbreaking for Donna Elvira, because while she believes the words sung by Don
Giovanni are only meant for her, Don Giovanni uses them on her own maid. The end of the scene
reconfirms Don Giovanni s role as the trickster, and reconfirms Don Elvira s role as a woman who

Music In Video Games Essay
Music In Video Games
Throughout the history of the video game industry, there has been many changes concerning music in
video games. Music in video games progressed greatly within the life of the industry from 1972 to the
present. These progressions can be seen as improvements in quality which includes an increase in the
number of output channels, an increase in song length, a great improvement in the quality of timbres,
and also a general shift from non programmatic music to programmatic music which fits a game. If
one takes a close look, one can see that all of these improvements are either directly or indirectly
resulting from improvements in the technology which is used to produce video game music. ... Show

The ARAM is a memory storage area which performs two main functions. The first of its functions is
to store data concerning the layout of a song. This data contains information such as which voices will
be played at what time, specifications concerning a song s rhythm, dynamics and structure, and any
other information which is used by the sound CPU when it produces sounds.
When compared to music in the mainstream musical industry, the ARAM can be seen as the musical
score which musicians read in order to gain the information to play a song. Since the ARAM stores a
song s structure, increasing the size of the ARAM will obviously have a profound effect on the overall
length and the variations in structure of a particular song. The result is that an increase in
ARAM will yield songs which are longer and contain more variations within its structure. These
changes are particularly important in video games since quot;a monotonous melody which repeats
every few seconds can lead to boredom and even frustration in a player. quot;1 Therefore, video game
programmers are now becoming more and more aware that programming long varying songs can keep
a player from becoming bored and switch to another game. Thus, this partially increases a player s
liking of a particular game.
The other function of the ARAM is to store information which defines the timbres in a song. Sound,
like many other things which occur in nature, actually consists of waves which travel through a

The Wretched Of The Earth, By Joseph Fanon
In Fanonian philosophy, decolonization is the rational reaction of colonization. So, those who would
classify de colonizers and their rhetoric nativists and nativism, should refer to the supporting quote
from Fanon s The Wretched of the Earth: The argument the native chooses has been furnished by the
settler... (1968: 310). That the native chooses violence self defensive struggle as a means toward the
goal of total liberation should startle no one, least of all colonialists, capitalists, and those identified
with the dominant race, prevailing gender, and the controlling class of the contemporary imperial
world system. Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels had presaged of the impending revolution for many
years by the time Fanon developed his books on revolutionary decolonization. Marx and Engels have

Gifts under Muslim Law and the Requirement of Registration:
An analysis of Legal Provisions and the Case Law
Faizan I Nazar*
I. Introduction
Registration of some classes of documents is compulsorily required under the various statutes like
Transfer of Property Act, Contract Act etc. The (Jammu and Kashmir) Registration Act, Svt 1970
(1922 A.D) is a specific Legislation which under section 17 enumerates the documents which have
been compulsorily registered under the Act. The first class of document which is enumerated under
clause (a) sub section (1) of section 17 of the Registration Act (hereinafter referred as the Act ) is an
instrument of gift of immovable property . Thus as a general rule gifts relating to immovable property

V. Fakhr Jahan Begum and Others referred to Muhammadan law by Syed Ameer Ali and approved the
statement made therein that three conditions are necessary for a valid gift by a Muslim: a)
Manifestation of the wish to give on the part of donor ; b) The acceptance of the donee , either
impliedly or expressly; c) The taking of possession of the subject matter of the gift by the donee,
either actually or constructively.
According to section 129 of the Transfer of Property Act no rule of Mohamedan law shall be affected
by chapter VII of the Transfer of Property Act relating to gifts. It, therefore, follows that an oral gift
made by a Muslim is a valid gift and does not require registration, which otherwise is not a valid gift
under section 123 of the Transfer of Property Act.
In the context of sec.17 (1) (a) the pertinent question is about the applicability of the clause (a) to
written gift executed by a Muslim in the light of section 129 of the Transfer of Property Act and the
rules of Muslim law relating to gifts. The courts for a long time obscured the answer.
In Sankesula Chinna Budde Saheb v. Raja Subbamma, the Andhra Pradesh High Court, after noticing
three essentials of gift under the Muslim law, held that if a gift was reduced to writing, it requires
registration under section 17(1) (a) of the Registration Act. It went on to hold that even if by virtue of
section 129 of the Transfer of Property Act, a deed of gift

Comparing Montagues And Capulets In The City Of Verona
Shakespeare is saying that two families which we know from reading the story are the Montagues and
Capulets. They are both similar in many ways. They have equally high reputations in the City of
Verona so therefore they are equally respected. We can tell from this that the play takes place in the
city of Verona and based on further explanation we know that Verona was a city in Italy. We also can
tell from the prologue that the two families hold a grudge between the other and this is a long
occurring event as everyone from the families despises the other aside from Romeo and Juliet. We
already know that they are well respected in the city of Verona so they probably fall under the rich.
Knowing this we can say that their reputation is of the

Essay about Campaign Finance Reform
Campaign finance reform has a broad history in America. In particular, campaign finance has
developed extensively in the past forty years, as the courts have attempted to create federal elections
that best sustain the ideals of a representative democracy. In the most recent Supreme Court decision
concerning campaign finance, Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, the Court essentially
decided to treat corporations like individuals by allowing corporations to spend money on federal
elections through unlimited independent expenditures. In order to understand how the Supreme Court
justified this decision, however, the history of campaign finance in regards to individuals must be
examined. At the crux of these campaign finance laws ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, these laws are particularly important because they deal with discussion of public issues
and debate on the qualifications of candidates. This sort of speech allows citizens to make an informed
decision about which candidate they will elect. This is crucial to the operation of the government, for
those who are elected will shape the nation in a profound way. As legal scholar Alexander Meiklejohn
argued when explaining the necessity of protecting political speech, self governance can only exist
insofar as the voters acquire the intelligence, integrity, sensitivity, and generous devotion to the
general welfare that, in theory, casting a ballot is assumed to express. For these reasons, the ability to
spend money on elections is essential to the First Amendment, as it allows for the communication of
ideas and opinions that are crucial to democracy. The need to protect this first amendment right,
however, is balanced against the need to avoid corruption in federal elections. The Federal Election
Campaign Act of 1971 (FECA) attempted to revamp the structure of campaign finance, particularly
dealing with eliminate corrupt uses of campaign contributions. Money in the form of a contribution
can easily be seen as a bribe, or an attempt to influence a candidate in the contributor s favor. FECA

Examples Of Superstitions
A superstition is a set of thoughts that are incongruent with reality, which lead to a series of doings,
behaviours and beliefs that an object or action that is not related to a group of events influences its
outcomes (Akova, 2011; Damisch, Stoberock, Mussweiler, 2010). There are superstitious people all
around the world, with different religions, beliefs, cultures and traditions (Akova, 2011).
Superstitions can serve to give either good or bad luck, some examples can be: crossing fingers, four
leaf clovers, knocking on wood, breaking a mirror, seeing a black cat, opening an umbrella inside the
house, or even a set of steps self made before an event (Akova, 2011).
Skinner proved that superstitious behaviours do not only occur in humans by doing an experiment
with a group of hungry pigeons. For a few minutes each day, he gave the ... Show more content on

This paranormal belief may be the result of those with an external locus of control attempting to deal
with the uncontrollability of their lives. On the contrary, individuals who present an internal locus of
control do not necessarily hold superstitions, probably because they do not have the need of coping
with the uncontrollability of their lives (Stanke Taylor, 2004).
Religiosity and superstition
In many studies, it has been found that religiosity correlates with the occurrence of superstitious
behaviours and paranormal beliefs. Apparently, a higher degree of religiosity correlates with a higher
frequency of reporting beliefs in paranormal experiences or the supernatural (Stanke Taylor, 2004).
However, religion considers superstitions as extravagant and irrational, but religion itself could be
practiced in a superstitious way, not actually believing in god but praying once in a while and
attending church just in case (Delacroix Guillard, 2008).

Dystopian Film Analysis
The most shocking aspect of the dystopian novel or film is the realisation that the future is contingent
on the present, and can be affected by something we do or don t do now
To what degree does this perspective on dystopian novels and films resonate with your own reading?
Dystopian texts fulfil the purpose of exaggerating contemporary issues and appropriating them into a
fictional universe, in order to criticise and foreshadow the destructive trajectory of current political
and social trends (Ferris, 2007). Dystopia, evolved in response to the changing political and social
climate of the late 19th and 20th century. This saw the flourishing of utopia s inverse counterpart

Howey criticises the narrow vision of contemporary society, and our growing tendency to view the
world through a screen (GGG, 2013). For the inhabitants of the silo, the outside world can only be
seen through a projected image, captured by sensors. The inhabitants of the silo are content by this,
and are convinced that the image they see is the truth. They do not question or breed curiosity to
discover more. Wool demonstrates the deception a society can live under when it becomes too reliant
on technology as seen in The illusion, however, convinced only from a distance (Howey, 2013). This
makes evident the deceptive nature of the image that is being projected, and conveys Howey s
cynicism towards technologies role as an information portal. Furthermore, Howey depicts the
detrimental effects that arise from technology s augmenting role in society. This is shown through the
hierarchy and power division of the silo in Wool. The IT faculty play a fundamental role in
orchestrating the faƧade in which the rest of the silo lives under and are responsible for enforcing the
suppressive regime of the silo. Howey conveys the dangerous influence technology can have on
society when he says, His discovery was that evil men arose from evil systems (Howey, 2013). His

The Economic Problems Of The Reconstruction Era
Equality and freedom between blacks and whites were very different, causing problems to breakout.
The Reconstruction Era went on from 1863 to 1877. It was taken place in the South, it was the greatest
problem that still remained after the Civil War and had to be solved. In general, the changes made
after the Civil War did not help African Americans move closer to achieving the American Dream due
to the economic, political and social problems that they faced due to the reconstruction. The problems
that southerners produced around the Reconstruction Acts stopped blacks from having any say
economically in the Reconstruction Era, distancing them away from the economic freedom they had
always wanted and achieving the American Dream. One of the biggest economic problems they faced
was sharecropping. A sharecropper was a tenant farmer especially in the southern US who is provided
with credit for land, tools, living quarters, and food, who works on the land, and who receives an agreed
share of the value of the crop minus charges(Sharecropping Worksheet). The landowners soil was not
guaranteed to be good as well, and if it was bad then it made it harder for the farmers to grow crops.
Dealing with all of this made it very hard for farmers to actually make enough money to pay the
landowner back and have enough money to do tenant farming. Which made it nearly impossible to get
out of sharecropping and achieve the American Dream. The Black Codes also impacted African
Americans

How Did Jackie Kennedy Contribute To Society

Public Budget Deficit Has Generated Pressures On Domestic...
This chronic and growing public budget deficit has generated pressures on domestic savings and
increased the share of domestic savings that directed to cover the growing public deficit at the expense
of investment spending share. Ratios of public budget deficit to demand for domestic savings
fluctuated around upward sloping trend. This ratio recorded 40%, in average, with standard deviation
14.5% during the considered period. Panel (a) in figure (3) shows that despite ratio of investment
spending to demand for domestic savings recorded 84%, in average, with standard deviation 10.3%;
however, these ratios fluctuated around a relatively horizontal trend during the considered period.
Accordingly, it can be said that public budget deficit works as a constraint to investment spending.
Panel (b) may confirm this suggestion, as it shows that investment spending, as a percent of GDP, is
following a downward sloping trend especially after 2008, where ratios of public budget deficit to
demand for domestic savings started to follow an upward sloping trend. In other words, it can be said
that public spending competes with investment spending for domestic savings, a familiar problem
known as crowding out. Under such a circumstance, financing domestic investment is at the mercy of
foreign indirect capital flows which depend on the efficiency of financial markets and political status
and relations of the country. This goes in line with the finding of O.Helmy and C.Zaki (2015), as they

Sourdough Vs Yeast
Third, there is no additives added in sourdough bread.
We cannot say that commercial yeast bread is bad and sourdough bread is good. The consumers like
sourdough bread because it does not contain any additives. The acid produces by lacto bacillus lowers
(makes more acidic) the pH of the dough, which in turn makes it a more hostile environment for other
types of bacteria, resulting in a longer shelf life and natural preservatives. Therefore sourdough bread
does not need any chemical synthetic materials, such as chemical yeast, artificial sweeteners,
preservatives, dough stabilizer, and pigment.
Many people think that sugar, butter, milk, and eggs are the necessary ingredients in making bread.
But they are not. They added to short fermentation bread to improve flavour and texture because short
fermentation cannot make deep flavour. The bakers who make pure sourdough bread never use these

The Other Place By Mary Gaitskill And The Last Speaker Of...
The two short stories that I read was The Other Place by Mary Gaitskill and The Last Speaker of the
Language by Carol Anshaw. I was not thrilled by either story and found that they did not keep my
interest and failed to entertain me. With both stories, I tended to get lost in the scene or setting and
found myself rereading sections. One of the stories I had to rereading to make sure I really understood
the full story. Two characteristics of a successful short stories are the story tends to begin and end
abruptly and limited number of characters. Using these two stories I will analyze them to see if they
meet the short story criteria.
The Last Speaker of the Language does not start off as an abruptly as a short story could. The daughter
is on a ladder finding small vodka bottles above her mother s kitchen cabinets, a hiding place that her
mother uses. There is no abruptness within the first two paragraphs. I would think that an abrupt story
would have dramatic changes or some sort of wild tale was starting. Something that would make the
reader say, whoa what is going in here?
The Other Place also started off with a slower start. It did however have a more interesting and
dramatic beginning as The Last Speaker of the Language did. The Other Place first starts off on how
the narrator son, at the age of 13 likes guns and violence. However, its only a short paragraph and the
next paragraph goes into the description of the boy and how he resembles the father at age

The Swastika And Symbolism In Hinduism
THE MISINTERPRETED SWASTIKA
The word swastika is Sanskrit symbolizes good fortune . The swastika is an ancient religious icon
used in India, where it has been and remains a sacred symbol of spiritual principles in Hinduism. In
India from thousand of year clockwise swastik represented light or sun and anti clockwise version
represented darkness
Swa in swastika means one s own possession to imself or herself , natural and inborn.Asthi means
present that exists or being. Therefore, swasthi means self existence, the fact that one is alive and
awake. In Sanskrit, swasti is used as an blessing or declaration, meaning, may you be good, maybe it
good.
Buddhism has is own meaning for swasitk, it represent the foot print of Buddha.
The Swastika is one of the great example of what has happened to Hindu beliefs in Europe and other
parts of the world. The Europeans saw its as a variation of cross. They also felt it was a symbol of the

thinking that I had deserted Joe (349). As Pip s fortune dwindles, Pip looks back in retrospect and sees
the horror of the cruelty with which he treated his loved ones. Pip s passions begin to be outweighed
by his responsibilities as Pip matures into an adult, showing the growth Pip experienced as a person.
Pip s fortune, which once fueled his passions, faded, and, almost like a lifting fog, revealed to Pip the
error of his ways and path to personal redemption. In the end, Pip was able to shake of his juvenile
desire and act responsibly. The growth Pip experienced as he broke free of the chains of Satis House
and Estella is immense and life changing. Pip finally realizes the appalling behaviors he has shown to
those that gave him nothing but love. As a pensive pip states, ...The inaptitude had never been in [Joe]
at all, but it had been in me (516). When Pip loses his status and wealth, he realized that they were just
material things, and never as important as he thought they were. Pip s fight with passion and
responsibility is finally won by

Predictive analysis considers previous data and predicts future data points, but predictive analysis fails
to consider new variables to practice and judge results. In this case, hypothesis helps to analyze old
data to set benchmark and set goal to achieve the new variable modified.
Hypothesis helps in making decision by comparing benchmark values and present results with the
variables applied. If Hypothesis is used to predict the future results this will be more about decision to
conclude whether to implement/accept or reject. Again, Hypothesis also use all statistical modals of
data, outliers removal, mean of sample, mean of population and proportions.
4. Statistical methods to perform Hypothesis Testing in Business Intelligence
Steps in Hypothesis Testing
Step 1: Take a decision item of proposed or implemented
Step 2: Formulate testable hypothesis (In case of implemented decision hypothesis will be to judge
whether the modified variable has shown positive results or not)
Step 3: Design the experiment
Step 4: Set up a Decision Rule
Step 5: Collect Data
Step 6: Make a Decision
Step 7: Revise your decisions towards success or profits.
Hypothesis Formulation:
We formulate a pair of mutually exclusive, collectively exhaustive statements about the business
scenario.
One statement or other must be true, but they cannot both be true.

Bronx High School Of Science
Stokely Carmichael Kwame Toure, better known as Stokely Carmichael, was one of the most
prominent civil rights figures in our history. Born in Trinidad, he became a citizen at the age of 13.
Stokely and his family moved to an Italian and Jewish neighborhood where he was one of the few
African Americans. He attended one of the most prestigious high schools, Bronx High School of
Science where he remained one of the few faces of color among his white elite counterparts.
Carmichael became very popular around his classmates, attending parties, dating white women, and
playing sports. While Stokely was aware of the racial tensions that ensued, he never realized until later
in life how differently he was perceived from his white counterparts. One evening upon graduating
high school, Stokely finally felt his calling to join the movement. Carmichael was watching a
television newscast that showed young African Americans protesting the racial injustices. When I first
heard about the Negroes sitting in at lunch counters I thought they were a bunch of publicity hounds.
He watched as these people were knocked off stools, ketchup thrown in their hair, and sugar thrown in
their eyes. After this he decided to join the Congress of Racial Equality. The Congress of Racial
Equality, otherwise known as CORE, was a leading civil rights activist groups. In the early 1960s
CORE started many initiatives like Freedom Rides, Freedom Summer, and the March on Washington.

Argumentative Essay On Obesity
For many years now, obesity has been an issue that has plagued our country with its effect on our
people. From the increasing difficulty to get good healthcare, to the monumental amount of fattening
snacks that have cultivated themselves into our diets. Throughout our media, we have seen countless
ways in which the human body can look good, bad, look better, or look worse. Most of which would
ignore or makeup, health claims just to come off as scientific. Along with what s considered as
desirable, that sought out notion has and will continue to change. Articles, books, songs, movies, and
magazines have left many Americans feeling pulled in multiple directions on how to take care of their
bodies as well as how they should look. Leading to body issues, radical or hateful opinions, and
possibly health problems. Many studies, book, papers, and social experiments on obesity are
developed to clear up some confusion towards eating and weight gain, of which add their own
informed opinions and facts to brighten our previous sphere of knowledge on the subject. Some of
which are proven biased or false based on opposing opinions or facts but, for the most part, add to the
conversation. So with this much information out there and with many of them contradicting
themselves, one may ask internally What is the right thing to do for me? , or What should I believe? ,
and those are valid questions. Does one look at what science says that day or go with what they feel is

Psychology the Nervous System Essay examples
Assignment 3 Written Essay Questions 1. a) We are able to experience different types of sensations
because our nervous system encodes messages. German physiologist Johannes Muller in his doctrine
of specific nerve energies described a kind of code which is anatomical. In his doctrine, Muller
explains that different sensory modalities exist because signals received by the sense organs stimulate
different nerve pathways that lead to different areas of the brain. For example, when the ear receives
signals, these signals cause impulses to travel along the auditory nerve to the auditory cortex. And
signals from the eye cause impulses to travel along the optic nerve to the visual cortex. Because of
these anatomical differences, light ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An extensive matrix of neurons in the brain gives us the sense of our own bodies and body parts. Pain
results when this matrix produces an abnormal pattern of activity, as a result of memories, emotions,
expectations or signals from various brain centres and not just from signals from peripheral nerves.
Because of the lack of sensory stimulation or a person s efforts to move a nonexistent limb, abnormal
patterns may arise, resulting in phantom pain. 6. a) The role stimulus generalization plays in this
problem is where mental images of the sights and smells of the clinic can become conditioned stimuli
for nausea, aside from the nurse s uniform, smell of rubbing alcohol or the waiting room. b) High
order conditioning can be illustrated in this problem of vomiting and nausea where a patient who
drank lemon lime Kool Aid before their therapy sessions developed anxiety disorders. They continued
to feel anxious even when the drink was offered in their homes rather than at the clinic. c) Classical
conditioning could help patients reduce pain and anxiety through the use of placebos. For example the

effect on the problem. The bigger and more impressive the placebos are, the stronger their
psychological effects are. 7. The evidence shows that punishments are

Segregation In Chicago Research Paper
The People United Will Never be Defeated
When driving through any state in America, it is hard not to notice the segregation that often
establishes itself throughout the neighborhoods; there exists a clear distinction what streets are
predominantly populated by White, Black, Hispanic, Arab, or other racial groups. According to recent
analysis of the U.S. Census Data, Chicago is the most diverse city, as well as the most segregated
(chicago.cbslocal.com). This raises the question of whether or not Chicago has also joined the
bandwagon of so many cities across the United States where it has become an accepted social
circumstance that every ethnic, racial, political, or religious group in a community must stand alone to

Drug Trafficking And Its Effects On America
In regard to Latin America, this area is a crucial geographical zone for drug trafficking and production.
Due to the location, the drug trade has found its perfect home, vast mountains and forests enable huge
farms to produce and ship drugs to any region they want. Whether it is Colombia, Peru or one of the
many countries found to be in this vast collection of drug trafficking, it is apparent that they all share
similar geographies that allow the trade to continue. As a result of this, countries in this region have
been subjugated to many imperialistic like efforts to eradicate this growing issue, regardless of
involvement. Through the use of diplomacy and past military intervention, the U.S. and other
countries have tried to keep a grip on the ever growing drug ring surrounding this area. Unfortunately,
it has become evident that the effort given by the U.S. is not enough to combat this ever growing and
secure market. Drug trafficking first started to show itself in Latin America during the years from the
1960s to 1970s, when the use of drugs began to become more popular throughout the youth of this
period ( Crandal ). During this time, the people in these exporting countries started to see a large
growth in the revenues brought upon by the trafficking, and rural communities began to supply more
and more drugs, beginning with Marijuana, but eventually becoming a much larger exporter of
cocaine( Drug Trafficking ). Cocaine began to seem like the perfect drug to traffic

Role Of Women In The American Revolution
The American Revolution was a colonial revolt in which America fought for its independence from
Britain. Several groups of people stepped up to contribute during the Revolution that deserve a great
deal of recognition. Beginning with women, who in spite of their low position in society still served in
a variety of ways. Women took on the roles of men when men were away at war. There were women
who were bold enough to serve on the battlefield alongside men. They were determined to prove that
they were just as capable of doing what men could do. African Americans, both free and enslaved,
also served in the Continental Army. African Americans fought bravely and eagerly, as some even
ended up becoming heroes. They were willing to be a helping hand and would even lie to be able to
fight for America s independence as well as their own. Foreigners were another group who supported
America by providing trainers and leaders. Foreigners also supported America financially to get the
army the supplies it needed. Without the help or support of all these different groups of people,
America may not have won its independence. Despite the low position women held in society, they
participated in any way they could during the war. When their husbands were away fighting, they took
over their husbands positions as weavers, carpenters, blacksmiths or shipbuilders. Others transformed
their homes into hospitals for the wounded, as explained in Document 2. Document 2 also describes

2000 and again from 2008 2012. Throughout the years, he has a earned a controversial reputation, not
just among the Russian citizens, but to other world leaders as well. President Putin is often criticized
for his handling of human rights and foreign policy issues by other world leaders. To some, he is
considered a dictator that must be stopped. To the Russian citizens, he is fairly popular, having high
and steady approval ratings throughout his role as a leader (Gertz, Bill. Putin Corruption Network

Russian economy. He has been suspected to have collected a fortune worth at least an estimated $28

been suspected of holdings in Russian real estate and energy conglomerates, and kickbacks from deals
with associates going all the way back to the late 1990s (Gertz, Bill. Putin Corruption Network

it was a blend of politics and performance. Putin desired to show the world that it was open, but what

Johnny Got His Gun And Shenandoah
War. At times it may be a beneficial concept and at other times it seems like an idea that should ever
happen. More often than not war is a brutal thing that leads to unnecessary death of multiple people
who deserve more than what war has given them. And the consequences that come in result of war
lead to more emotional and physical tear than most people need to suffer in a lifetime. The theme of
consequences of war is present in both the book Johnny Got His Gun and the movie Shenandoah
through the representation of loss, physical, mental and psychological turmoil, and the reality that war
can never be undone. The novel Johnny Got His Gun is based on the story about a young soldier
named Joe Bonham who experienced a traumatic event when he ... Show more content on

As said earlier in the essay this theme is showcased by the thought of loss, however loss is not the
only way that the consequences of war is shown. In both these sources, the theme is shown through
physical, emotional and psychological war that takes places both during the war and after the war. In
Johnny Got His Gun, Trumbo shows readers countless times throughout the book the physical,
emotional and psychological impact that war left on joe. One specific example of Joe experiencing
these things is when during the book Joe describes how he is feeling due to the physical, emotional
and psychological impact that war left on him. In the book Trumbo says It was like a full grown man
suddenly being stuffed back into his mother s body. He is lying in stillness. He is completely helpless.
Somewhere sticking in his stomach is a tube they fed him through. That is exactly like the womb
except a baby in its mother s body could look forward to the time when it would live. (Trumbo 80).
This quote explains where Joe is both physically and emotionally due to the war. Throughout the book
Joe explains how he emotionally felt like he is a baby trapped in the womb, and how he could not
perform the most basic human functions. Through Joe s thoughts and feeling the theme of the
consequences of war emotionally are clearly presented taken from the book. Just like in the book, the
movie Shenandoah shows the physical, emotional and psychological impact that war leaves just like in
the book. This specific theme is shown right after the two characters Jenny and James got married.
During their wedding James is unexpectedly taken and thrown into war and forced to leave his lovely
wife and enter war and all that war bring. This specific part in the movie relates directly to the theme
of consequences of war by detailing how specifically Jenny had to deal with the emotional

Personality shapes almost every aspect of an individual s life, and being satisfied with one s job is not
an exclusion. The way an individual outwardly and inwardly assesses themselves, their position and
their career, will play a role in their job performance, and ultimately their job satisfaction, which is
defined by some merely as how content an individual is with his or her job, whereas to others, it is
more complex. Job satisfaction to them involves multidimensional psychological responses to one s
job. The Correlation between the Factor Personality Model and Job Satisfaction Statement of Task The
main purpose of this investigation is to evaluate the link between the Big Five Factor of Personality
and overall job satisfaction. To conduct this investigation, the Barrick and Mount (1991) meta analysis
of the correlation between job performance and the Big Five Personality Model will be used as a
guide. Over the last 20 years, unanimity has developed that the five factor model of personality, more
frequently referred to as the Big Five (Goldberg, 1990), can be used to define the most remarkable
aspects of personality. The Big Five structure has become metaphysical across scopes, cultures, and
sources of ratings (McCrae John, 1992). The Big Five has been researched in areas of industrial
organizational psychology, predominantly regarding job performance (Barrick Mount, 1991).

The Political System Of Alexander II
Alexander II also established trial by jury, relinquishing authority to a judicial system independent of
the the autocracy. However, the influence of socialism had spread to St. Petersburg intellectuals from
Germany and France, and Constitutionalism was seen as insufficient. The importance of political
system became less important, as concerns over social and economic forces moved to the forefront.
Socialism seemed appealing to Westernizers due to the application of modern European thought, while
traditionalists saw it as a return to the old Russian populist values.
The rift between the aristocracy and the general public had become completely unbridgeable. The
intelligentsia and nobility had grown to hate one another, each feeling as though the survival of Russia
depended on the destruction of the other. On March 1, 1881, after seven other attempts, Alexander II
was assassinated. Ironically, the most liberal Tsar of the century had become the primary target of
radical revolutionaries, and was killed mere hours after approving the Loris Melikov reform which
established a national representative body. Before his death, he asked that he be taken to die in the
Winter Palace. Due to the death of Alexander II, Alexander III devoted his thirteen year rule to
quashing any rebellion toward the autocracy. He instituted a police state, and revoked the Loris
Melikov reform. He refused to live in the Winter Palace, as he found it to be too stark and cold.

Essay on Americaā€™s New Look as an Urban Nation
America s New Look as an Urban Nation
When the United States was founded as a nation after the Revolutionary War it was largely agrarian in
nature. Even when people lived in the village, that town was made up fewer that ten houses on
average and only occasionally had other buildings such as a school, church, or small store. The people
lived together for protection, and traveled out to their farm land everyday to till, plant and harvest.
With the advent of the industrial revolution staring in the early part of the nineteenth century and then
even more so with the information revolution of the 1960 s onward people began moving away from
the country and into the city because that was where they worked. There were enough farms to support

Two other problems with an urban society were; gathering enough drinking water for the increasing
populous and disposing of waste. When Europe started to urbanize, they did not realize the need for
the latter and they had plagues that swept through their filthy cities. When they had learned the lesson
and provided adequate sewage disposal. Transportation of goods could come into a city and be
distributed to building sites. Therefore, railways and roadbeds that could handle the traffic were
needed. Also, people who live closer together tend to be increasingly lawless. To maintain order, a
police force had to be maintained. This public service was accompanied by the need for a fire
department and public utility workers that were not as needed in the country.
When people move into a city there is going to be a division of labor that will eventually evolve into a
class structure. In the United States the Constitution was set up in Europe and other places around the
world. However, there will always be the gentried business owners, the middle class merchants, the
lower class factory workers and the poor. These four distinct groups seem to form due to natural
causes. It becomes class when it is difficult to move between the economic levels. In the United
States, people were able to move between the different classes if they chose, but it continued to be a
difficult change. The classes in the US were not developed

Metal is known for its heavy sound of amplified impairment and long guitar solos, all in all known for
having a overall LOUD sound. Metal has 3 important harmonic models, modal scale, Tritone and
Chromatic. Likewise metal is well known for using pedal points for a long period of time, all of these

  • 2. Short Summary Of Segu By Marys Conde When Maryse Conde wrote the book Segu she tells what life would have been like at the point in which slavery and Islam begin to take a hold on the African continent. It also shows the implementations of it on life. Conde s description of Islam and Arabs throughout the story can be very problematic view of society at that time for the reader. There was confrontation between religion and culture on the African continent. There is an internal as well as external struggle for the individuals in the story from religion and culture. When considering slavery there had always been slavery of some sort throughout the African country. This would occur when one clan conquered another and took some people as their spoils and to live in enslavement. The culture of the native people is rather ritualistic and traditional. In 2004 president, Bush set a goal that all health records would be electronic by 2014. It was assumed that Electronic Health Records (EHR) would promote increased quality of health care and reduce costs, and also that the availability of electronic records would reduce errors (simborg, 2008). Simborg also said, The addition of clinical decision support functions in many EHRs to warn physicians to potential errors and influence their behaviors toward evidence based decisions further enhances the potential of EHRs to promote quality and reduce costs. With the use of his servant, Leporello, Don Giovanni is able to evade women who would like to marry him, such as Donna Elvira. Due to his treacherous actions, at the end of the opera, Don Giovanni is forced to decide between accepting his fate in hell, or renouncing his former lifestyle by ceasing his pursuit of women. Despite the dark ending, some scenes of the opera are playful, and are even charismatic at times. However, the mandolin he used to serenade the maid with makes the piece more playful, in comparison to Donna Elvira s song. By reusing the same melody, Don Giovanni can be seen as using the same tricks to seduce women. It seems even more heartbreaking for Donna Elvira, because while she believes the words sung by Don Giovanni are only meant for her, Don Giovanni uses them on her own maid. The end of the scene reconfirms Don Giovanni s role as the trickster, and reconfirms Don Elvira s role as a woman who was easily ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Music In Video Games Essay Music In Video Games Throughout the history of the video game industry, there has been many changes concerning music in video games. Music in video games progressed greatly within the life of the industry from 1972 to the present. These progressions can be seen as improvements in quality which includes an increase in the number of output channels, an increase in song length, a great improvement in the quality of timbres, and also a general shift from non programmatic music to programmatic music which fits a game. If one takes a close look, one can see that all of these improvements are either directly or indirectly resulting from improvements in the technology which is used to produce video game music. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ARAM is a memory storage area which performs two main functions. The first of its functions is to store data concerning the layout of a song. This data contains information such as which voices will be played at what time, specifications concerning a song s rhythm, dynamics and structure, and any other information which is used by the sound CPU when it produces sounds. When compared to music in the mainstream musical industry, the ARAM can be seen as the musical score which musicians read in order to gain the information to play a song. Since the ARAM stores a song s structure, increasing the size of the ARAM will obviously have a profound effect on the overall length and the variations in structure of a particular song. The result is that an increase in ARAM will yield songs which are longer and contain more variations within its structure. These changes are particularly important in video games since quot;a monotonous melody which repeats every few seconds can lead to boredom and even frustration in a player. quot;1 Therefore, video game programmers are now becoming more and more aware that programming long varying songs can keep a player from becoming bored and switch to another game. Thus, this partially increases a player s liking of a particular game. The other function of the ARAM is to store information which defines the timbres in a song. Fakhr Jahan Begum and Others referred to Muhammadan law by Syed Ameer Ali and approved the statement made therein that three conditions are necessary for a valid gift by a Muslim: a) Manifestation of the wish to give on the part of donor ; b) The acceptance of the donee , either impliedly or expressly; c) The taking of possession of the subject matter of the gift by the donee, either actually or constructively. According to section 129 of the Transfer of Property Act no rule of Mohamedan law shall be affected by chapter VII of the Transfer of Property Act relating to gifts. It, therefore, follows that an oral gift made by a Muslim is a valid gift and does not require registration, which otherwise is not a valid gift under section 123 of the Transfer of Property Act. In the context of sec.17 (1) (a) the pertinent question is about the applicability of the clause (a) to written gift executed by a Muslim in the light of section 129 of the Transfer of Property Act and the rules of Muslim law relating to gifts. The courts for a long time obscured the answer. In Sankesula Chinna Budde Saheb v. Raja Subbamma, the Andhra Pradesh High Court, after noticing three essentials of gift under the Muslim law, held that if a gift was reduced to writing, it requires registration under section 17(1) (a) of the Registration Act. They are both similar in many ways. They have equally high reputations in the City of Verona so therefore they are equally respected. We can tell from this that the play takes place in the city of Verona and based on further explanation we know that Verona was a city in Italy. We also can tell from the prologue that the two families hold a grudge between the other and this is a long occurring event as everyone from the families despises the other aside from Romeo and Juliet. We already know that they are well respected in the city of Verona so they probably fall under the rich. Knowing this we can say that their reputation is of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Essay about Campaign Finance Reform Campaign finance reform has a broad history in America. In particular, campaign finance has developed extensively in the past forty years, as the courts have attempted to create federal elections that best sustain the ideals of a representative democracy. In the most recent Supreme Court decision concerning campaign finance, Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, the Court essentially decided to treat corporations like individuals by allowing corporations to spend money on federal elections through unlimited independent expenditures. Furthermore, these laws are particularly important because they deal with discussion of public issues and debate on the qualifications of candidates. This sort of speech allows citizens to make an informed decision about which candidate they will elect. This is crucial to the operation of the government, for those who are elected will shape the nation in a profound way. As legal scholar Alexander Meiklejohn argued when explaining the necessity of protecting political speech, self governance can only exist insofar as the voters acquire the intelligence, integrity, sensitivity, and generous devotion to the general welfare that, in theory, casting a ballot is assumed to express. For these reasons, the ability to spend money on elections is essential to the First Amendment, as it allows for the communication of ideas and opinions that are crucial to democracy. The need to protect this first amendment right, however, is balanced against the need to avoid corruption in federal elections. The Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 (FECA) attempted to revamp the structure of campaign finance, particularly dealing with eliminate corrupt uses of campaign contributions. Money in the form of a contribution can easily be seen as a bribe, or an attempt to influence a candidate in the contributor s favor. FECA required ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Examples Of Superstitions A superstition is a set of thoughts that are incongruent with reality, which lead to a series of doings, behaviours and beliefs that an object or action that is not related to a group of events influences its outcomes (Akova, 2011; Damisch, Stoberock, Mussweiler, 2010). There are superstitious people all around the world, with different religions, beliefs, cultures and traditions (Akova, 2011). Superstitions can serve to give either good or bad luck, some examples can be: crossing fingers, four leaf clovers, knocking on wood, breaking a mirror, seeing a black cat, opening an umbrella inside the house, or even a set of steps self made before an event (Akova, 2011). Apparently, a higher degree of religiosity correlates with a higher frequency of reporting beliefs in paranormal experiences or the supernatural (Stanke Taylor, 2004). • 14. The Economic Problems Of The Reconstruction Era Equality and freedom between blacks and whites were very different, causing problems to breakout. The Reconstruction Era went on from 1863 to 1877. It was taken place in the South, it was the greatest problem that still remained after the Civil War and had to be solved. In general, the changes made after the Civil War did not help African Americans move closer to achieving the American Dream due to the economic, political and social problems that they faced due to the reconstruction. The problems that southerners produced around the Reconstruction Acts stopped blacks from having any say economically in the Reconstruction Era, distancing them away from the economic freedom they had always wanted and achieving the American Dream. One of the biggest economic problems they faced was sharecropping. A sharecropper was a tenant farmer especially in the southern US who is provided with credit for land, tools, living quarters, and food, who works on the land, and who receives an agreed share of the value of the crop minus charges(Sharecropping Worksheet). The landowners soil was not guaranteed to be good as well, and if it was bad then it made it harder for the farmers to grow crops. Dealing with all of this made it very hard for farmers to actually make enough money to pay the landowner back and have enough money to do tenant farming. Which made it nearly impossible to get out of sharecropping and achieve the American Dream. The Black Codes also impacted African Americans ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ratios of public budget deficit to demand for domestic savings fluctuated around upward sloping trend. This ratio recorded 40%, in average, with standard deviation 14.5% during the considered period. Panel (a) in figure (3) shows that despite ratio of investment spending to demand for domestic savings recorded 84%, in average, with standard deviation 10.3%; however, these ratios fluctuated around a relatively horizontal trend during the considered period. Accordingly, it can be said that public budget deficit works as a constraint to investment spending. Panel (b) may confirm this suggestion, as it shows that investment spending, as a percent of GDP, is following a downward sloping trend especially after 2008, where ratios of public budget deficit to demand for domestic savings started to follow an upward sloping trend. In other words, it can be said that public spending competes with investment spending for domestic savings, a familiar problem known as crowding out. The consumers like sourdough bread because it does not contain any additives. The acid produces by lacto bacillus lowers (makes more acidic) the pH of the dough, which in turn makes it a more hostile environment for other types of bacteria, resulting in a longer shelf life and natural preservatives. Therefore sourdough bread does not need any chemical synthetic materials, such as chemical yeast, artificial sweeteners, preservatives, dough stabilizer, and pigment. Many people think that sugar, butter, milk, and eggs are the necessary ingredients in making bread. But they are not. With both stories, I tended to get lost in the scene or setting and found myself rereading sections. One of the stories I had to rereading to make sure I really understood the full story. Two characteristics of a successful short stories are the story tends to begin and end abruptly and limited number of characters. The daughter is on a ladder finding small vodka bottles above her mother s kitchen cabinets, a hiding place that her mother uses. There is no abruptness within the first two paragraphs. I would think that an abrupt story would have dramatic changes or some sort of wild tale was starting. Something that would make the reader say, whoa what is going in here? According to recent analysis of the U.S. Census Data, Chicago is the most diverse city, as well as the most segregated (chicago.cbslocal.com). This raises the question of whether or not Chicago has also joined the bandwagon of so many cities across the United States where it has become an accepted social circumstance that every ethnic, racial, political, or religious group in a community must stand alone to overcome their own struggles and fight their own battles . Due to the location, the drug trade has found its perfect home, vast mountains and forests enable huge farms to produce and ship drugs to any region they want. Whether it is Colombia, Peru or one of the many countries found to be in this vast collection of drug trafficking, it is apparent that they all share similar geographies that allow the trade to continue. As a result of this, countries in this region have been subjugated to many imperialistic like efforts to eradicate this growing issue, regardless of involvement. Through the use of diplomacy and past military intervention, the U.S. and other countries have tried to keep a grip on the ever growing drug ring surrounding this area. Unfortunately, it has become evident that the effort given by the U.S. is not enough to combat this ever growing and secure market. Drug trafficking first started to show itself in Latin America during the years from the 1960s to 1970s, when the use of drugs began to become more popular throughout the youth of this period ( Crandal ). During this time, the people in these exporting countries started to see a large growth in the revenues brought upon by the trafficking, and rural communities began to supply more and more drugs, beginning with Marijuana, but eventually becoming a much larger exporter of cocaine( Drug Trafficking ). • 34. Role Of Women In The American Revolution The American Revolution was a colonial revolt in which America fought for its independence from Britain. Several groups of people stepped up to contribute during the Revolution that deserve a great deal of recognition. Beginning with women, who in spite of their low position in society still served in a variety of ways. Women took on the roles of men when men were away at war. There were women who were bold enough to serve on the battlefield alongside men. They were determined to prove that they were just as capable of doing what men could do. African Americans, both free and enslaved, also served in the Continental Army. African Americans fought bravely and eagerly, as some even ended up becoming heroes. They were willing to be a helping hand and would even lie to be able to fight for America s independence as well as their own. Foreigners were another group who supported America by providing trainers and leaders. Foreigners also supported America financially to get the army the supplies it needed. Without the help or support of all these different groups of people, America may not have won its independence. Despite the low position women held in society, they participated in any way they could during the war. When their husbands were away fighting, they took over their husbands positions as weavers, carpenters, blacksmiths or shipbuilders. And the consequences that come in result of war lead to more emotional and physical tear than most people need to suffer in a lifetime. The theme of consequences of war is present in both the book Johnny Got His Gun and the movie Shenandoah through the representation of loss, physical, mental and psychological turmoil, and the reality that war can never be undone. As said earlier in the essay this theme is showcased by the thought of loss, however loss is not the only way that the consequences of war is shown. In both these sources, the theme is shown through physical, emotional and psychological war that takes places both during the war and after the war. In Johnny Got His Gun, Trumbo shows readers countless times throughout the book the physical, emotional and psychological impact that war left on joe. One specific example of Joe experiencing these things is when during the book Joe describes how he is feeling due to the physical, emotional and psychological impact that war left on him. In the book Trumbo says It was like a full grown man suddenly being stuffed back into his mother s body. He is lying in stillness. He is completely helpless. Somewhere sticking in his stomach is a tube they fed him through. That is exactly like the womb except a baby in its mother s body could look forward to the time when it would live. (Trumbo 80). This quote explains where Joe is both physically and emotionally due to the war. Throughout the book Joe explains how he emotionally felt like he is a baby trapped in the womb, and how he could not perform the most basic human functions. Through Joe s thoughts and feeling the theme of the consequences of war emotionally are clearly presented taken from the book. Just like in the book, the movie Shenandoah shows the physical, emotional and psychological impact that war leaves just like in the book. This specific theme is shown right after the two characters Jenny and James got married. During their wedding James is unexpectedly taken and thrown into war and forced to leave his lovely wife and enter war and all that war bring. This specific part in the movie relates directly to the theme of consequences of war by detailing how specifically Jenny had to deal with the emotional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. The Political System Of Alexander II Alexander II also established trial by jury, relinquishing authority to a judicial system independent of the the autocracy. However, the influence of socialism had spread to St. Petersburg intellectuals from Germany and France, and Constitutionalism was seen as insufficient. The importance of political system became less important, as concerns over social and economic forces moved to the forefront. Socialism seemed appealing to Westernizers due to the application of modern European thought, while traditionalists saw it as a return to the old Russian populist values. The rift between the aristocracy and the general public had become completely unbridgeable. The intelligentsia and nobility had grown to hate one another, each feeling as though the survival of Russia depended on the destruction of the other. On March 1, 1881, after seven other attempts, Alexander II was assassinated. Ironically, the most liberal Tsar of the century had become the primary target of radical revolutionaries, and was killed mere hours after approving the Loris Melikov reform which established a national representative body. Before his death, he asked that he be taken to die in the Winter Palace. Due to the death of Alexander II, Alexander III devoted his thirteen year rule to quashing any rebellion toward the autocracy. He instituted a police state, and revoked the Loris Melikov reform. He refused to live in the Winter Palace, as he found it to be too stark and cold. Instead, he took residence ...
