The Impact Of Tajikistan On The United States Of The...
Tajikistan gained its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991 and in its short life has already seen
considerable amounts of turmoil. When it was first declared a sovereign nation it was plunged very
quickly in to civil war. The war led to a quick decline in the nation s economy. This war crippled the
nation leaving Tajikistan very weak in the June of 1997 when the war finally drew to a close. This
civil war weakened Tajikistan s legitimate economy and left many people to rely on the revenues of
illicit opiate trade . Tajikistan is slowly recovering from the effects of becoming a new nation, plagued
with war and drug problems early in its life, and this requires the government to find a way to end the
drug usage and distribution problem that grips the country along with the corruption of the state in an
attempt to improve the economy and living conditions of Tajikistan. There are many contributing
factors to the perfect storm of sorts that lead to the rapid increase in Tajikistan s status as a drug state.
One of the most important of these is the proximity of Tajikistan to Afghanistan. This proximity
allowed for Afghanistan to take advantage of Tajikistan in the midst of civil unrest giving the people
of the poverty stricken economy an easy way to make quick money. This was made easier for
Afghanistan by Tajikistan s lack of border regulations, allowing drugs to easily be transferred between
the two countries. Afghanistan shares a 1,200 km border with Afghanistan and

To Autumn
To Autumn The Final Season In the Life of a Poet
The years between 1818 and 1821 mark the final stage in John Keat s life. During this time period,
Keats created some of his best poetry. These works would forever elevate Keats as a brilliant and
talented poet whose mark would be left on the literary world forever. The last years of Keat s life were
met with many challenges as well as inspirations. It was a combination of these which not only
influenced, but inspired Keats to write such poems as, The Eve of St. Agnes, Lamia, The Fall of
Hyperion, and To Autumn. To Autumn exemplifies maturity, resolution, perfection, and unification of
a poem, a season, a day, and a poet.
John Keats was born on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A year later Keats gave up medicine. In the fall of this same year, Keat s younger brother died of
tuberculosis. This indeed exposed the young poet to the dreaded disease. Also, at this time, he met the
love of his life, Fanny Brawne. By 1819, Keats was already showing signs of the dreaded disease,
tuberculosis. He suffered a hemorrhage of his lungs but recovered. It was during this time period, near
the end of his life, that Keats created some of his best poetry which put him among the great English
poets. He wrote, Ode to Psyche, Ode to Melancholy, Ode on a Grecian Urn, Ode on Indolence, The
Eve of St. Agnes, Lamia, and what is considered by many to be his most perfect poem, To Autumn
(Nylander). By 1820, Keats moved in with his friend, Leigh Hunt, after suffering a hemorrhage. On
the advice of his doctor he set sail for Italy, a trip often taken as a last resort when one was stricken
with tuberculosis. He died peacefully in 1821 in Rome at the age of only twenty four.
To Autumn is often referred to as an Ode. It was written on a Sunday afternoon in 1819. It was the last
poem that Keats ever wrote. It is his most perfection. At a time in Keat s life when he knew he was not
long for the physical world, it is ironic that he produced a poem of such perfection. To fully
comprehend the beauty of this irony, one must be aware of the summation of
his poetic maturity epitomized in To Autumn, and the reluctant acceptance of

Effects Of The Reformation In The 16th And 17th Century
I believe the single biggest pressure that caused the most issues for England in the 16th and 17th
century relate to the Reformation. The Reformation effected everyone in the country as they were
forced into a new religion headed by the King. It drastically changed people s lives and it s no wonder
why the change wasn t fully accepted for a long time. Rapid population increase caused a significant
strain on the country as they needed to develop new ways to feed everyone. The abolishment of
common lands in favor of enclosure agriculture strained the poorest people in the country. All of these
created mass amounts of tension and stress within a society transitioning into an economic power. In
1534, the English Parliament passed the Act of Supremacy effectively placing Henry the 8th as the
head of the English Church. His royal prerogative was extended to deciding the religion in which the
country would follow. The need of a male heir played a significant role in this decision, along with the
opinions of many throughout the Christian world that Catholic Church was corrupt beyond repair. The
event left the English citizens in a state of disbelief and resentment as their whole lives seemed to be
turned upside down. There would be a number of consequences resulting from the Reformation. For
starters the government began dissolving the monasteries which provided a number of services to their
communities around them, such as education and several acted as hospitals. The King attempted to
compensate for these lost services by establishing public services to his citizens with the money he
was gaining from the land he acquired from the monasteries. Unfortunately the money was poorly
spend and did not adequately replace the services of the monasteries. Adding on to this a large chunk
of the population refused to follow the newly created church. Several clergymen who didn t recognize
Henry as the new head of the church were executed for not swearing loyalty to him. Furthermore
thousands of people would rise up through the years in rebellion against the state for the reason of
religion. The Pilgrimage of Grace for example rose to 40,000 people demanding the Supremacy Act
be reversed as well as punishing the officials

Public administrators across the United States of America strive to provide its citizens with programs

Development Block Grant Program that give a positive impact to individuals by creating jobs and

The funding was taken from Baltimore s local county highway improvement project. The funding
reallocation creates two major problems for Baltimore. The first problem is that city commuters use
the local highway daily to get to work. Secondly, funding for the Baltimore s rapid bus service to
transport commuters to the city no longer exist and therefore increasing traffic congestion. Commuters
now have to endure increasing traffic congestion because more cars are on as road that cannot improve
because funding was given to another project.
Comparing the financial cost of the interstate with the cost of having to reallocate funding or stopping
programs in an effort to decrease traffic congestion will create a greater economic downturn if not
done in moderation as well as a decrease in confidence in lawmakers. The lawmakers will feel the
decrease in confidence by citizens during elections. Unless the local government can generate and use
other sources of revenue to continue highway improvement, the decision to remove the city s funding
is not practical.
Revenue Sources
Baltimore is no different than any other metropolitan city trying to close the gap between its resources
and meeting the needs of the city. In past years the city s major source of resources came from state
and federal funding to finance projects such as road improvements. Because the increasing economic
stress has begun to diminish the

Christmas Music In Christmas
A lot of people look forward to Christmas season, especially retailers because sales gets a boost. It is
the reason why a lot of shopping malls air Christmas songs ahead of the Yuletide season.
However, a psychologist warned that hearing too much of the year end holiday melodies could be bad
for mental health. Linda Blair, a clinical psychologist, explained that listening to too many carols
makes people feel trapped. It is a constant reminder to purchase gifts, cook holiday meals, and
organize Christmas parties, the Daily Mail reported.
Kaching of Christmas
But for those in the retail business, it is the time when the cash register keeps on ringing which is why
department store and shopping mall operators start airing Christmas songs weeks ahead of December
25. As a result of the constant exposure to carols ahead of the year end holiday, 61 percent of people
suffer from stress during the Yuletide, the American Psychiatric Association said.
Because music bypasses rationality, it goes straight to people s emotions, Blair pointed out. It involves
several brain areas that induce emotions and involve reflexes, conditioning, visual imagery,
expectancy, memory, and emotional contagion.
If played too loudly, Christmas music would likely irritate people. For shoppers, it would use the
energy of mall goers trying not to hear the carols, Blair said. Retail workers need to tune out the
Christmas music, she said; otherwise, it will stop them from being able to focus on anything else.

Film History
The History of film has been influenced by the discovery and testing of paradoxes intrinsic in the
medium itself. machines are used record images of anything; it combines still photographs to give the
appearance of continuous motion; it seems to present life itself, but it also offers unthinkable
unrealities approached only in dreams.
The motion picture was unfolded in the 1890s from the union of still photography, which records
actual reality, with the persistence of vision toy, which made drawn frames appear to move. Four
major film traditions have advanced since then: fictional narrative film, which reveals stories about
people with whom an audience can recognize because their world looks familiar; nonfictional
documentary film, which centers on the real world either to inform ... Show more content on

Like a book, it can tell stories; like a drama, it can portray quarrel between live characters; like
painting, it composes in space with light, color, shape, and texture; like music, it moves in

individuals in space and is often underscored by music; and like photography, it bestows a two
dimensional rendering of what looks to be three dimensional reality, using perspective, depth, and
shading.
Film, is one of the rare arts that is both exciting and worldly, deliberately manipulating both space and
time. This combination has given rise to two contrasting theories about film and its past development.
Film theorist Rudolf Arnheim, argued that film must take the path of the other modern arts and focus
on not telling stories or representing reality but on exploring time and space in a pure and discreet
abstract way. Others, such as Andre Bazin, say that film must fully and carefully grow its connection
with nature so that it can portray human events as compelling and telling as

Buffalo Bill Thesis
The wild west was time in which people really started heading towards the west of the U.S. They
headed to the west because they wanted land and money. The west was starting to populate and getting
popular the little towns started to grow bigger and bigger. Eventually some of these overpopulated
towns became ghost towns because people started to move in the cities. The wild west started roughly
around 1840s with the rise of the Gold rush, Manifest Destiny, and the Homestead act. During this
time a lot of people were either looking for land in the west because of the Homestead act or they
were looking for gold during the gold rush. William Frederick Cody was born west of the Mississippi
River near LeClaire, Iowa, on February 26, 1846. He would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

children would survive him. In 1904 Cody sued Louisa for divorce claiming she had attempted to
poison him. When Buffalo Bill was 8 years old he moved to kansas with his family. Since the
Homestead act was in full effect his family wanted to move to get land and have a better life. When he
was 12 years old he was working for a wagon train headed to Fort Laramie, Wyoming; the next year,
he participated in the gold rush to Colorado; and at 15, he reportedly rode for the Pony Express. He
also was part of the Civil War but only a little bit towards the end. Buffalo Bill opened his own wild
west show when he was 37 years old. At age 11 his father died and because of this as a young boy his
family did not have a lot of money. When his father died in 1857, his mother moved to Kansas, where
Cody worked for a wagon freight company as a mounted messenger and wrangler. In 1859, he tried
his luck as a prospector in the Pikes Peak gold rush, and the next year, joined the Pony Express, which
had advertised for skinny, expert riders willing to risk death daily. In 1867 68 he was hunter

The Social Construction of Fibromyalgia Essay
The Social Construction of Fibromyalgia
With so many people in so much pain, how could fibromyalgia not be a disease? (Groopman 3) This
question regarding the condition of persistent muscle pain throughout the body, pain that is often
accompanied by severe fatigue, insomnia, diarrhea and abdominal bloating, bladder irritation, and
headache, now known as fibromyalgia raises some rather interesting yet complicated issues in today s
health care field such as: What criteria must be met in order for a symptom or a set of symptoms, as is
the case here, to be classified as an illness or a disorder? What does the term illness itself mean? What
makes up the concept of health? In this paper, I attempt to tackle ... Show more content on

Health, in a positive sense, consists in the capacity of the organism to maintain a balance in which it
may be reasonably free of undue pain, discomfort, disability or limitation of action (Mishler 154).
Because of our modern definition and perception of illness or disease, some physicians may ignore
patients claims of having fibromyalgia, or may even dismiss the patients as crazy and refer them to
psychiatrists, since this is their only logical explanation for a patient complaining of pains who shows
no biological dysfunctions
Mohamed 3 through physical and/or laboratory exams. However, the presence of measurable
deviations from normal biological functioning is only one of the conditions for illness, certainly not a
necessary and sufficient condition (Mishler 159). Fortunately, some physicians look further into the
conditions, performing more detailed experiments with the patients to attempt to understand what
exactly is going on.
The process of social construction consists of a few main steps. First, is the acknowledgement by the
patient or a group of patients, or even an organization that there is an abnormal condition and feelings
of illness. Next are the decisions that must be made in order to diagnose the illness, but who makes
these decisions? Physicians have been granted by society the right to define criteria of

Essay About Anger
Review of Related Literature
Anger or wrath is an intense emotional response. It is an emotion that involves a strong uncomfortable
and emotional response to a perceived provocation, hurt or threat.
Anger can occur when a person feels their personal boundaries are being or going to be violated.
Some have a learned tendency to react to anger through retaliation as a way of coping.
Anger is used as a protective mechanism to cover up fear, hurt or sadness. Anger becomes the
predominant feeling behaviorally, cognitively, and physiologically when a person makes the conscious
choice to take action to immediately stop the threatening behavior of another outside force.
The external expression of anger can be found in facial expressions, body language, physiological
responses, and at times public acts of aggression. Animals, for example, make loud sounds, attempt to
look physically larger, bare their teeth, and stare. The behaviors associated with anger are designed to

Respiratory Acidosis Symptoms
What are some of the possible signs and symptoms of respiratory acidosis, respiratory alkalosis,
metabolic acidosis, and metabolic alkalosis? Respiratory acidosis occurs when the rate of oxygen
eliminated from the body fluids via the lungs drops this causes the concentration of carbon dioxide to
increase in the body fluid. This increases the concentration of hydrogen to increase in turn this causes
the decrease of the pH in the body fluids to drop below 7.35. This causes respiratory acidosis.
Respiratory acidosis is usually a symptom of an underlying condition such as asthma, COPD,
pneumonia, obesity, or sleep apnea. Signs and symptoms include (acute) headache, anxiety,

Coal Vs Nuclear Energy Essay
Nuclear energy is much better than other sources of energy for many reasons. It is cheaper long term
than renewable energy, like wind turbines and solar power, safer than coal and has minimal
atmospheric contamination. It is also much more efficient than coal, and genetic risks are minimal.
The cancer risk increase of nuclear energy is next to nothing; it is only .002%, shortening life
expectancies by less than one hour. First, nuclear energy is safer than coal. To be as dangerous as coal
pollution, there would have to be about 25 nuclear meltdowns every year. That is more that twice a
month, or every 14 days. In 12,700 years of cumulative production worldwide, there have been only

Nuclear power plants increase cancer risk by .002%, shortening life expectancies by less than an hour
while fossil fuels shorten by 3 40 days. The cancer risk is similar to delaying parenthood by 2.5 days,
or by a man wearing pants for 8 hours more per year. There has only been one incident that has
seriously affected the cancer risk in the area. Most radiological injuries/deaths each year are due to
large, uncontrolled radiation sources. Some may say that nuclear energy is bad solely based off of
what they know about the infamous Chernobyl. However, Chernobyl should never have happened. In
a rush to provide power and test nuclear energy, the Soviets made a poorly built excuse for a nuclear
power plant. Due to human error and lack of a containment center, Chernobyl was an exception to a
rather safe way of producing energy. Also, people may feel strongly against nuclear energy because of
the risks that spent fuel rods propose. However, the advances in storing these fuel rods have
minimized the problem. Concrete and steel structures are built to store fuel rods that have cooled
down for years, and these structures pose no risk to human health, even when touching the outside.
There has never been an incident involving storage of spent fuel

Analysis Of The Original Version Of Java
History of Java.
In 1991, Sun Microsystems has a project to develop a program which is designed for interactive
televisions such as cable boxes. Then they started a team called Green and wanted to develop in such a
way it could run on any hardware devices, should be hardware independent. Under the supervision on
James Gosling the green team able to develop and named as OAK. Since the name OAK was already
existed in programming language, they finally named it as JAVA. Since there is a huge popularity for
java their focus reflects to web applications, which has became a major hit in today s market.
Currently there are 2 versions of java, the original version of JDK (java development kit) was 1.0 now
they is another version which is being used it is 1.1.
Ever since programming languages was introduced there have been some issues or problems with
each and every programming language from low lever programming language BASIC to high level
language C and C++. As there should be so many enhancements to be made in each of those
programming languages, engineers from Sun Microsystems wanted to develop a new environment and
to implement new art of programming language with should be simple, efficient, durable, portable,
powerful, well secure and easy to understand. When java was designed it was a programming
language later on due to its easy, simple and flexible nature it was designed for web applications as

The Feminist Movement Of Bram Stoker s Dracula
In Victorian England, the feminist movement began to rise at an almost exponential rate. Women
started to have their voices heard and even had many of their causes argued for by some men. Among
these men was a lecturer by the name of Bram Stoker. Stoker spent years lecturing on and arguing for
feminist causes at the Philosophical Society. That is until the New Woman came about. The New
Woman was considered to be a new breed of woman, one that was almost inhuman or mutated, hence
the name. They believed in sexual freedom, the blurring of the distinction between the genders, and
their right to choose their path of life even when it went against what a man wished. Stoker then
claimed that these ideals were wrong and stated it very clearly ... Show more content on

From what is demonstrated in Dracula, Stoker clearly also believes that sexuality in a woman would
additionally lead to the downfall of men along with its immorality. Scenes such as when Jonathan is
with the female vampires in Dracula s castle represent a very literal incarnation of this belief. Jonathan
is awake when he hears the women vampires talk of taking him and taking his kisses . This causes
Jonathan to be very aroused and he anticipated what the vampires were going to do to him. Jonathan
does nothing to get out of the situation he was in despite the danger of it. He simply closed [his] eyes
in ecstacy and waited (Stoker, 43) If Dracula had not interrupted, the women would have taken
advantage of Jonathan and he would have either died or become a vampire. This alternate possible
ending to the scene would have mirrored Stoker s contraction of syphilis, which would have happened
around the time of his writing Dracula. At this time, Stoker had not had sexual interactions with his
wife for at least twenty, therefore, if one can assume his heterosexuality, he would have contracted
syphilis from some other woman who was sexually free and had seduced him into bed with her. This
clear parallel was Stoker s way of warning men against the evil of a sexually free woman. Stoker
would not have wanted to advocate a cause which would allow more evil women to

it can be very hard for a person to stop.
Some drugs however can still cause an addiction even if the drug itself has no addictive properties

have a reaction in their body due to not having the drug but they can still mentally develop an extreme
want for it. Psychological addictions are more common in people who abuse drugs like marijuana.
Marijuana itself has no substance inside of it that are actually addictive but the brain can still develop
a desire for the dopamine that marijuana releases making a person want to do it. Some people say that
this is not a real addiction however because a person can develop a psychological addiction to

Notes On The Novel Fences And Pied Piper Of Tucson
Unit 1 Guide
Unit Learning
Trajectory
Students examine the ways in which mystery, tension, and surprise are used in informational and
literary texts to engage and
intrigue readers. First, students read short stories and poetry, including a close reading of Joyce Carol
Oates short story,
Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been? and Mara Bovsun s article, Pied Piper of Tucson; they
identify and describe
ways authors hook and hold readers with specific choices. Next, students read the play Fences by
Pulitzer Prize winner
August Wilson and analyze the role of stories within in the story to create tension and advance the
plot. Fences is the
foundation for the unit s cornerstone task: after ranking and discussing important lines ... Show more

They will discuss rationales for their
rankings, respond to each other s rationales, and write rationale statements to defend their ranking.
Students will then select
one line to perform. This culminates in students performing their lines in a collective performance,
and writing reflective
short essays to describe the impact of the important lines exercise on their comprehension of the play.
This deeper
comprehension will then be used to finalize the essay responding to the prompt How does August
Wilson use stories within
the story to build mystery, tension, surprise in the play Fences?
Unit Test
Students will read and think about the short story, quot;Lamb to the Slaughter quot;, by Roald Dahl.
As they do so, they will answer
questions and gather evidence related to how the text builds tension in the reader. Students will then
use this evidence to
help write an analytical essay.

Examples Of Foreshadowing In The Interlopers
Techniques in The Interlopers The short story, The Interlopers by Saki, tells of Ulrich von Gradwitz
and Georg Znaeym, Two hunters who were destined to be enemies since `before they were born.
Three generations ago, the Gradwitz family won a strip of precipitous woodland in a lawsuit against
their neighbors, the Znaeym family. The Znaeym s, in return, have held a grudge ever since. On a
stormy winter night, Ulrich and his foresters are out on the land keeping watch for thieves, when
Ulrich comes face to face with Georg. Before either man has time to move, a tree comes crashing
down, both injuring and trapping them. At first both Ulrich and Georg claim that their men will be the
first to find them and when they do, the other will die. But as more time passes, both find their hatred
for each other decreasing and they decide to become friends. Sadly, after this miraculous event, both
Ulrich and Georg are killed by wolves. Throughout the story, Saki uses irony, foreshadowing, and
characterization to hold the reader s interest. Foreshadowing is used when Ulrich and his men are out
patrolling the woods, keeping watch for thieves. The roebuck, which usually kept in the sheltered
hollows during a storm wind, were running like driven things tonight, and there was ... Show more

Essay about A National Tradegy
Tragedy
In September 11th A National Tragedy, James Peck writes about how the tragic event, September 11th
has affected our world today. Peck states that tragedy is a word that has commonly been overused by
Americans throughout news articles and magazines when a significant event happens. When referring
to September 11th, the crashing of the twin towers, this is a tragic event.
Peck states, I do know life is life and theatre is theatre (735), but we as Americans immediately turn
life events into narrations where we ourselves play the roles of the characters and the plot is the
problem that is affecting us in our life. Turning significant events into narrations allows Americans to

such as this one America has came to better understand itself and the strengths that it has. America has

Why Environmentalists Hate Capitalism
Environmentalist and Capitalism
The discussion we had in class and in the document is asking, Why do Environmentalists Hate
Capitalism? and How Do Humans Affect the Environment? Well let s start off with the
Environmentalist; they love to make the world a much safer and cleaner world. They think that
Capitalist want to do more and take up more , making gas more expensive , taking more trees down to
build more of what we need and mostly not need, It s our wants and our needs. However, the
Environmentalist feels that the Capitalist want to take down trees for our own good. No, that is not
true, we try to cut down trees and make buildings for the Environmentalist but they think it s for our
own good.
In 2020, the world will end because right now, China is falling slowly, and we mostly rely on China.
Capitalist need to focus more on what they are doing with the resources and not use as much as they
usually do. For example, instead of a whole acre we could use half of it. We could possibly own less
cars, most of us have two or three cars. We can cut down to one to make it easier on everyone else and
the world. But the Capitalist want money, they don t really care about the environment. They do
whatever they can to make money and try to please people more so they can get more money. If all
Capitalist care about is making more stuff, capitalism may be the best system ever. But if you want to
save the planet from environmental catastrophe our current economic system is a dead end. ... Show

Aint No Mountain High Enough And Grenade Comparison
I will jump in front of a train for you! Phrases like this will melt a woman s heart. Musicians normally
express their feelings through lyrics, in various genres of music. One usually turns to another person
for emotional support, but others will direct themselves towards music. In the same way that music
can heal a soul, it is also capable of demonstrating others to show affection for whom they love. One
lesson taught throughout love songs is, love is unconditional affection with no limits or conditions.
Two songs that come to mind are Ain t No Mountain High Enough by Marvin Gaye, and Grenade by
Bruno Mars. Both of these songs talk about love, and passion, however one talks about a desire for
somebody, while the other expresses heartbreak.
Bruno Mars and Marvin Gaye express their love in grand ways. In similarity, they both have a
compassionate and sentimental vibe that speaks to a person emotionally. They both use big gestures to
show the one they love how they feel. Bruno Mars sings I would jump in front of a train for ya, you
know I would do anything for ya , therefore; he is saying he would die for his love. While Marvin ...

Theme Of Revenge In The Spirit Of The Rainforest
Spirit of the Rainforest delivers an engaging tale of Yanomamo life through the eyes of Jungleman, a
powerful shaman in Venezuela. The novel presents a disturbing sampling of spirit warfare scenes,
detailing the transformation of some Yanomami people while initiating a transformation in the
worldview of its readers. Members of the culture engage in an endless cycle of slaughtering each other
in the name of hatred. The motif of Vengeance lingers throughout the novel. It s motivated by the
spirits of the rainforest and causes enormous chaos until it is thwarted by the peace given by Yai Pada
(God). Spirit of the Rainforest and recent research demonstrate the necessity of forgiveness for
personal growth and their relation to the spirit realm.
According to the accounts recorded in Spirit of the Rainforest, blood revenge is a prevalent motivator
of Yanomamo killings. The Oxford English Dictionary defines revenge as both an act and a desire. In
the act of revenge, individuals respond to a wrong by harming the transgressor. Revenge can also refer
to the urge to pay back wrongs; thus, a person can have revenge in his heart (Schumann). The desire
for vengeance resulting in murder weaves throughout the novel. Oftentimes, before the genesis of a
great conflict, a Yanomamo witnesses the death of relative, allows anger to fester inside of him,
dreams of revenge, then follows the promptings of a spirit to go and commit heinous crimes. This
ultimately results in celebration immediately followed by fear, unrest, and chaos. Thus, the cycle of
vengeance and grief spirals on in accordance with the will of the evil spirits. One example of this
cycle can be found in the story of Hairy and Yellowflower. After Yellowflower s sister dies, Hairy
forces her to marry him. After she repeatedly runs away Hairy murders her in the jungle. Then, her
brothers come to avenge her death by beating Hairy s brother, which results in his death. So, Hairy
travels back to her village and when he got there, they killed that brother and their grief was satisfied
(Ritchie, 106). However, despite the satisfaction Hairy initially feels, his memories of killing
Yellowflower haunt him. Soon, his nights are consumed with nightmares and he can no

Transportation On Pennsylvania State Campus
Transportation on Pennsylvania State campus, via bicycle, has always been an option for students and
faculty since 1855. However, the university 150 years ago was different considering the size of the
campus and student body. In 1863, and later years, the classes totalled a measly 64 undergraduates,
while in 2016 more than 40,000 students make up each undergraduate level. Every year this number
increases making university park a more crowded area in every regard from housing to congestion of
sidewalks. Regulations provided to students available online outline the basic conditions for riding a
bike on campus and highlight provisions made by the university. However, as a student who has been
on campus for a summer and two thirds of a fall semester, I feel the rules are not only impossible to
follow, but fail to ensure safety to students and faculty. There must be action to improve the current
state of transportational means on campus for students and one of the best and simple means in doing
so is through the revision of roadways on campus.
Firstly, providing safety to students who are seeking high education is known to be high priority by

Lyndon B. Johnson And The Great Society Essay
Lyndon B. Johnson and The Great Society Lyndon Baines Johnson introduced the Great Society, a
strategic plan of action to propose environmental cleanup, decreasing poverty, and helping to further
fund education during his state of the union address in 1965 in a poetic manner. He spoke of it as a
destination that the American people would work toward. Johnson s address gave many Americans
hope and faith in a better world after feeling so much pain following the assassination of John F.
Kennedy. Americans were anxious to move forward as a nation in support of the changed Johnson
proposed. The Great Society was a proposed plan of actions intended to benefit the American people.
Johnson developed the Great Society in a utopian fashion that proposed programs concerning the
cities, the environment and education which in return brought modern liberalism into turmoil and
broadened the administrative state. Taking office after the assassination of John F. Kennedy put
tremendous pressure on Johnson. Not only did he have his own ideas, he also needed to fulfill the
legacy left by Kennedy. In order to do both, he created the Great Society. Johnson wished to create the
glue that kept the American people together and according to Paul C. Aiken and John M. Redding
(1965) he fulfilled his famous words of, Let us continue... while addressing the country after that fatal
day in Dallas and passing several acts to better the country. A politician that Johnson looked up to was

The Federal Aviation Administration Should Not Shut Down Small Airport Air Traffic Control Towers
The Federal Aviation Administration was created August 23, 1958 to help increase air travel safety, as
well as make a more efficient airspace (Mission). In the ten years after the Federal Aviation
Administration started recording crashes, there were 183 crashes (Canavan). The crash percentage, the
number of crashes divided by the number of flights, was .00125% (Accident and Incident Data). In the
last ten years there were forty seven accidents and incidents (Canavan). The accident percent was

These companies run the Air Traffic Control Towers just like government employees would, but much
more cheaply and efficiently (The Beginning of Air Traffic Control). Air Traffic Controllers that work
for private companies make a median of $60,000 $65,000. This is much lower than a federally funded
Air Traffic Control Tower. Employee salaries are the largest cost to the Air Traffic Control Tower
budget. This allows contracted Air Traffic Control Towers to spend much less money to run and
operate. The United States government could save a lot of money by simple contracting all of the Air
Traffic Control Towers.
Airport safety is one of the Federal Aviation Administration s biggest concerns. They are tasked with
tracking over 10,400,000 commercial flights every year, not including military and non commercial
flights (Canavan). Collisions and crashes are the two major causes of injuries and death. Air travel
accidents date all of the way back to 1908 (Old). Orville Wright, one of the original inventors of the
airplane, was flying a demonstration for the military when a propeller suddenly was ripped off of the
airplane. The passenger, Lieutenant Selfridge was killed when the plane hit the ground (Old). The
Federal Aviation Administration has come a long way since the 1960 s to improve safety (Mission).

Opioid Drugs And Their Receptor
CHAPTER 1. INTRODUCTION
1.1. History of opioid research
Opioid drugs and their receptor is one of the most extensively studying areas in pharmacology. This
field of research really began from isolation of morphine, an active ingredient of opium, by German
pharmacist Friedrich Sertürner in 1989. The compound he managed to isolate was called morphine
after Morpheus, the Greek god of dream. Later Pierre Robiquet in France isolated the second
predominant alcholoid of opium, codeine. After the discovery that morphine can be used as anesthetic
in some medical procedures, it became widely used during surgeries (Brownstein, 1993). In 1898, the
Bayer Company in Germany synthesized another opioid compound, heroin. Heroin was a non
prescription drug, which was thought to be more potent than morphine in producing analgesia, and
more powerful than codeine in cough suppression. The legal production of heroin was suspended in
1925 when high levels of heroin addiction were noticed (Hosztafi, 2001, Tsisanova, 2012). In 1939,
Otto Eisleb synthesized meperidine, first opioid ligand structurally not related to morphine. This was
followed by the discovery of methadone by Max Bochmühl and Gustav Ehrhart just before the Second
World War in unfortunate attempt to synthesize addiction free opioid (Sneader, 2005, Tsisanova,
2012). 1940s were marked with the discovery of opioid antagonists, nalorphine and naloxone. The
later compound is still widely used in research as well as clinically

There is bewilderment to decry in Peter Jackson s King Kong, but one progression that is comparably
mellowed and a grip to the key movie s success. Kong has conquered Ann Darrow and carried her to
his landing place, high on the mountain. He laid her down, not roughly, starts to roar, and expose his

As Kong escalates the skyscraper, Ann yells not because of the gorilla but the barrage on the gorilla by

Essay about Love in Henry James Turn of the Screw
To Insanity in Pursuit of Love.
The Turn of the Screw by Henry James is usually read as a ghost story in which the central character,
the governess, tries to save the souls of two children possessed by evil. However, the short story can
be also analyzed from many different perspectives, as we come upon a number of hints that lead to
various understanding of certain scenes. One of the possible interpretations is the psychoanalytical
one, in which we interpret the events either from the point of view of the governess or from the
perspective of the two children. I will concentrate on the problem of the governess who, restricted by
her own problems and moral dilemmas, projects her fears on her pupils and in this way harms the

This is clearly stated by Douglas when he says about the offer: The moral of which was of course the
seduction exercised by the splendid young man. She succumbed to it (James 13). As the love is not
fulfilled, with no prospects for the future relationship with the master, the young woman starts to be
overpowered by her romantic and sexual needs. The matter gets worse when her imagination starts to
play tricks and then she projects a figure of a man during one of the walks. Later on, as her state of
mind is far from normal and she becomes obsessed with love, the male ghost is paired with his female
lover. Only in this unconscious way can the governess express her needs, which the cruel Victorian
society, with its restrictive code of sexual morality, as Jane Nardin calls it, rejected and made her

Being the daughter of a poor parson, the governess has probably never tasted real love. Her whole
knowledge about the romantic relationships is based on novels like Pamela where a middle class girl
finds an upper class man, Nardin points out (qtd. in Parkinson, ch. 6). On meeting her employer, she
immediately recalls the scheme of one of the novels and imagines the future with the man. Also when
walking alone the governess dreams about meeting the man of her life. When her psychological health
deteriorates she can no longer distinguish the imagined from the real. The ghosts start to haunt her, she

  • 2. The Impact Of Tajikistan On The United States Of The... Tajikistan gained its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991 and in its short life has already seen considerable amounts of turmoil. When it was first declared a sovereign nation it was plunged very quickly in to civil war. The war led to a quick decline in the nation s economy. This war crippled the nation leaving Tajikistan very weak in the June of 1997 when the war finally drew to a close. This civil war weakened Tajikistan s legitimate economy and left many people to rely on the revenues of illicit opiate trade . Tajikistan is slowly recovering from the effects of becoming a new nation, plagued with war and drug problems early in its life, and this requires the government to find a way to end the drug usage and distribution problem that grips the country along with the corruption of the state in an attempt to improve the economy and living conditions of Tajikistan. There are many contributing factors to the perfect storm of sorts that lead to the rapid increase in Tajikistan s status as a drug state. One of the most important of these is the proximity of Tajikistan to Afghanistan. This proximity allowed for Afghanistan to take advantage of Tajikistan in the midst of civil unrest giving the people of the poverty stricken economy an easy way to make quick money. This was made easier for Afghanistan by Tajikistan s lack of border regulations, allowing drugs to easily be transferred between the two countries. Afghanistan shares a 1,200 km border with Afghanistan and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. To Autumn To Autumn The Final Season In the Life of a Poet The years between 1818 and 1821 mark the final stage in John Keat s life. During this time period, Keats created some of his best poetry. These works would forever elevate Keats as a brilliant and talented poet whose mark would be left on the literary world forever. The last years of Keat s life were met with many challenges as well as inspirations. It was a combination of these which not only influenced, but inspired Keats to write such poems as, The Eve of St. Agnes, Lamia, The Fall of Hyperion, and To Autumn. To Autumn exemplifies maturity, resolution, perfection, and unification of a poem, a season, a day, and a poet. John Keats was born on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A year later Keats gave up medicine. In the fall of this same year, Keat s younger brother died of tuberculosis. This indeed exposed the young poet to the dreaded disease. Also, at this time, he met the love of his life, Fanny Brawne. By 1819, Keats was already showing signs of the dreaded disease, tuberculosis. He suffered a hemorrhage of his lungs but recovered. It was during this time period, near the end of his life, that Keats created some of his best poetry which put him among the great English poets. He wrote, Ode to Psyche, Ode to Melancholy, Ode on a Grecian Urn, Ode on Indolence, The Eve of St. Agnes, Lamia, and what is considered by many to be his most perfect poem, To Autumn (Nylander). By 1820, Keats moved in with his friend, Leigh Hunt, after suffering a hemorrhage. On the advice of his doctor he set sail for Italy, a trip often taken as a last resort when one was stricken with tuberculosis. He died peacefully in 1821 in Rome at the age of only twenty four. To Autumn is often referred to as an Ode. It was written on a Sunday afternoon in 1819. It was the last poem that Keats ever wrote. It is his most perfection. At a time in Keat s life when he knew he was not long for the physical world, it is ironic that he produced a poem of such perfection. To fully comprehend the beauty of this irony, one must be aware of the summation of his poetic maturity epitomized in To Autumn, and the reluctant acceptance of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Effects Of The Reformation In The 16th And 17th Century I believe the single biggest pressure that caused the most issues for England in the 16th and 17th century relate to the Reformation. The Reformation effected everyone in the country as they were forced into a new religion headed by the King. It drastically changed people s lives and it s no wonder why the change wasn t fully accepted for a long time. Rapid population increase caused a significant strain on the country as they needed to develop new ways to feed everyone. The abolishment of common lands in favor of enclosure agriculture strained the poorest people in the country. All of these created mass amounts of tension and stress within a society transitioning into an economic power. In 1534, the English Parliament passed the Act of Supremacy effectively placing Henry the 8th as the head of the English Church. His royal prerogative was extended to deciding the religion in which the country would follow. The need of a male heir played a significant role in this decision, along with the opinions of many throughout the Christian world that Catholic Church was corrupt beyond repair. The event left the English citizens in a state of disbelief and resentment as their whole lives seemed to be turned upside down. There would be a number of consequences resulting from the Reformation. For starters the government began dissolving the monasteries which provided a number of services to their communities around them, such as education and several acted as hospitals. The King attempted to compensate for these lost services by establishing public services to his citizens with the money he was gaining from the land he acquired from the monasteries. Unfortunately the money was poorly spend and did not adequately replace the services of the monasteries. Adding on to this a large chunk of the population refused to follow the newly created church. Several clergymen who didn t recognize Henry as the new head of the church were executed for not swearing loyalty to him. Furthermore thousands of people would rise up through the years in rebellion against the state for the reason of religion. The Pilgrimage of Grace for example rose to 40,000 people demanding the Supremacy Act be reversed as well as punishing the officials ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is the reason why a lot of shopping malls air Christmas songs ahead of the Yuletide season. However, a psychologist warned that hearing too much of the year end holiday melodies could be bad for mental health. Linda Blair, a clinical psychologist, explained that listening to too many carols makes people feel trapped. It is a constant reminder to purchase gifts, cook holiday meals, and organize Christmas parties, the Daily Mail reported. Kaching of Christmas But for those in the retail business, it is the time when the cash register keeps on ringing which is why department store and shopping mall operators start airing Christmas songs weeks ahead of December 25. As a result of the constant exposure to carols ahead of the year end holiday, 61 percent of people suffer from stress during the Yuletide, the American Psychiatric Association said. Because music bypasses rationality, it goes straight to people s emotions, Blair pointed out. It involves several brain areas that induce emotions and involve reflexes, conditioning, visual imagery, expectancy, memory, and emotional contagion. If played too loudly, Christmas music would likely irritate people. For shoppers, it would use the energy of mall goers trying not to hear the carols, Blair said. Health, in a positive sense, consists in the capacity of the organism to maintain a balance in which it may be reasonably free of undue pain, discomfort, disability or limitation of action (Mishler 154). Because of our modern definition and perception of illness or disease, some physicians may ignore patients claims of having fibromyalgia, or may even dismiss the patients as crazy and refer them to psychiatrists, since this is their only logical explanation for a patient complaining of pains who shows no biological dysfunctions Mohamed 3 through physical and/or laboratory exams. However, the presence of measurable deviations from normal biological functioning is only one of the conditions for illness, certainly not a necessary and sufficient condition (Mishler 159). The New Woman was considered to be a new breed of woman, one that was almost inhuman or mutated, hence the name. Jonathan does nothing to get out of the situation he was in despite the danger of it. This alternate possible ending to the scene would have mirrored Stoker s contraction of syphilis, which would have happened around the time of his writing Dracula. At this time, Stoker had not had sexual interactions with his wife for at least twenty, therefore, if one can assume his heterosexuality, he would have contracted syphilis from some other woman who was sexually free and had seduced him into bed with her. • 26. Why Environmentalists Hate Capitalism Environmentalist and Capitalism The discussion we had in class and in the document is asking, Why do Environmentalists Hate Capitalism? and How Do Humans Affect the Environment? Well let s start off with the Environmentalist; they love to make the world a much safer and cleaner world. They think that Capitalist want to do more and take up more , making gas more expensive , taking more trees down to build more of what we need and mostly not need, It s our wants and our needs. However, the Environmentalist feels that the Capitalist want to take down trees for our own good. No, that is not true, we try to cut down trees and make buildings for the Environmentalist but they think it s for our own good. In 2020, the world will end because right now, China is falling slowly, and we mostly rely on China. Capitalist need to focus more on what they are doing with the resources and not use as much as they usually do. For example, instead of a whole acre we could use half of it. We could possibly own less cars, most of us have two or three cars. We can cut down to one to make it easier on everyone else and the world. But the Capitalist want money, they don t really care about the environment. They do whatever they can to make money and try to please people more so they can get more money. If all Capitalist care about is making more stuff, capitalism may be the best system ever. But if you want to save the planet from environmental catastrophe our current economic system is a dead end. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Musicians normally express their feelings through lyrics, in various genres of music. One usually turns to another person for emotional support, but others will direct themselves towards music. In the same way that music can heal a soul, it is also capable of demonstrating others to show affection for whom they love. One lesson taught throughout love songs is, love is unconditional affection with no limits or conditions. Two songs that come to mind are Ain t No Mountain High Enough by Marvin Gaye, and Grenade by Bruno Mars. Both of these songs talk about love, and passion, however one talks about a desire for somebody, while the other expresses heartbreak. Bruno Mars and Marvin Gaye express their love in grand ways. In similarity, they both have a compassionate and sentimental vibe that speaks to a person emotionally. They both use big gestures to show the one they love how they feel. • 28. Theme Of Revenge In The Spirit Of The Rainforest Spirit of the Rainforest delivers an engaging tale of Yanomamo life through the eyes of Jungleman, a powerful shaman in Venezuela. The novel presents a disturbing sampling of spirit warfare scenes, detailing the transformation of some Yanomami people while initiating a transformation in the worldview of its readers. Members of the culture engage in an endless cycle of slaughtering each other in the name of hatred. The motif of Vengeance lingers throughout the novel. It s motivated by the spirits of the rainforest and causes enormous chaos until it is thwarted by the peace given by Yai Pada (God). Spirit of the Rainforest and recent research demonstrate the necessity of forgiveness for personal growth and their relation to the spirit realm. According to the accounts recorded in Spirit of the Rainforest, blood revenge is a prevalent motivator of Yanomamo killings. The Oxford English Dictionary defines revenge as both an act and a desire. In the act of revenge, individuals respond to a wrong by harming the transgressor. Revenge can also refer to the urge to pay back wrongs; thus, a person can have revenge in his heart (Schumann). The desire for vengeance resulting in murder weaves throughout the novel. Oftentimes, before the genesis of a great conflict, a Yanomamo witnesses the death of relative, allows anger to fester inside of him, dreams of revenge, then follows the promptings of a spirit to go and commit heinous crimes. This ultimately results in celebration immediately followed by fear, unrest, and chaos. Thus, the cycle of vengeance and grief spirals on in accordance with the will of the evil spirits. One example of this cycle can be found in the story of Hairy and Yellowflower. After Yellowflower s sister dies, Hairy forces her to marry him. After she repeatedly runs away Hairy murders her in the jungle. Then, her brothers come to avenge her death by beating Hairy s brother, which results in his death. So, Hairy travels back to her village and when he got there, they killed that brother and their grief was satisfied (Ritchie, 106). However, despite the satisfaction Hairy initially feels, his memories of killing Yellowflower haunt him. Soon, his nights are consumed with nightmares and he can no ... However, the university 150 years ago was different considering the size of the campus and student body. In 1863, and later years, the classes totalled a measly 64 undergraduates, while in 2016 more than 40,000 students make up each undergraduate level. Every year this number increases making university park a more crowded area in every regard from housing to congestion of sidewalks. Regulations provided to students available online outline the basic conditions for riding a bike on campus and highlight provisions made by the university. However, as a student who has been on campus for a summer and two thirds of a fall semester, I feel the rules are not only impossible to follow, but fail to ensure safety to students and faculty. There must be action to improve the current state of transportational means on campus for students and one of the best and simple means in doing so is through the revision of roadways on campus. Firstly, providing safety to students who are seeking high education is known to be high priority by the administration of Penn State. • 30. Lyndon B. Johnson And The Great Society Essay Lyndon B. Johnson and The Great Society Lyndon Baines Johnson introduced the Great Society, a strategic plan of action to propose environmental cleanup, decreasing poverty, and helping to further fund education during his state of the union address in 1965 in a poetic manner. He spoke of it as a destination that the American people would work toward. Johnson s address gave many Americans hope and faith in a better world after feeling so much pain following the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Americans were anxious to move forward as a nation in support of the changed Johnson proposed. The Great Society was a proposed plan of actions intended to benefit the American people. Johnson developed the Great Society in a utopian fashion that proposed programs concerning the cities, the environment and education which in return brought modern liberalism into turmoil and broadened the administrative state. Taking office after the assassination of John F. Kennedy put tremendous pressure on Johnson. Not only did he have his own ideas, he also needed to fulfill the legacy left by Kennedy. In order to do both, he created the Great Society. Johnson wished to create the glue that kept the American people together and according to Paul C. Aiken and John M. • 33. Opioid Drugs And Their Receptor CHAPTER 1. INTRODUCTION 1.1. History of opioid research Opioid drugs and their receptor is one of the most extensively studying areas in pharmacology. This field of research really began from isolation of morphine, an active ingredient of opium, by German pharmacist Friedrich Sertürner in 1989. The compound he managed to isolate was called morphine after Morpheus, the Greek god of dream. Later Pierre Robiquet in France isolated the second predominant alcholoid of opium, codeine. After the discovery that morphine can be used as anesthetic in some medical procedures, it became widely used during surgeries (Brownstein, 1993). In 1898, the Bayer Company in Germany synthesized another opioid compound, heroin. Heroin was a non prescription drug, which was thought to be more potent than morphine in producing analgesia, and more powerful than codeine in cough suppression. The legal production of heroin was suspended in 1925 when high levels of heroin addiction were noticed (Hosztafi, 2001, Tsisanova, 2012). In 1939, Otto Eisleb synthesized meperidine, first opioid ligand structurally not related to morphine. This was followed by the discovery of methadone by Max Bochmühl and Gustav Ehrhart just before the Second World War in unfortunate attempt to synthesize addiction free opioid (Sneader, 2005, Tsisanova, 2012). 1940s were marked with the discovery of opioid antagonists, nalorphine and naloxone. The later compound is still widely used in research as well as clinically ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The movie forms the same somewhat of transformation compromising an enormous gorilla that Spielberg s Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) did when he replaced 1950s attacks on alien visitors with a very 1970s attempt to advertise with them (by 2005, Spielberg was behind to charging them, in War of the Worlds ). The Turn of the Screw by Henry James is usually read as a ghost story in which the central character, the governess, tries to save the souls of two children possessed by evil. However, the short story can be also analyzed from many different perspectives, as we come upon a number of hints that lead to various understanding of certain scenes. One of the possible interpretations is the psychoanalytical one, in which we interpret the events either from the point of view of the governess or from the perspective of the two children. I will concentrate on the problem of the governess who, restricted by her own problems and moral dilemmas, projects her fears on her pupils and in this way harms the children. What ... The matter gets worse when her imagination starts to play tricks and then she projects a figure of a man during one of the walks. Later on, as her state of mind is far from normal and she becomes obsessed with love, the male ghost is paired with his female lover. Only in this unconscious way can the governess express her needs, which the cruel Victorian society, with its restrictive code of sexual morality, as Jane Nardin calls it, rejected and made her quench (qtd. in Parkinson, ch. 6). Being the daughter of a poor parson, the governess has probably never tasted real love. Her whole knowledge about the romantic relationships is based on novels like Pamela where a middle class girl finds an upper class man, Nardin points out (qtd. in Parkinson, ch. 6).
