Drama and Excitement in the Opening Scene of Romeo and...
Drama and Excitement in the Opening Scene of Romeo and Juliet by Baz Lurhmann Romeo and Juliet
is directed by Baz Lurhmann and was produced in 1997 .In the opening scene of the film is set in a
petrol station . The Montague boys and the Capulet boys happen to meet each other and a quarrel
ensues and this leads to a big gun battle accompanied by western music that adds humour to the scene.
The techniques the Luhrmann uses are lighting ,camera angles , setting and different aspects of mis en
scene to create drama and excitement for the audience. In the opening scene of Romeo and Juliet
sound is used to create an effect on the audience . When the film starts images of the city of Verona

On the other hand the Capulet boys have loud roaring coming from their car luhrman uses this to
present the Capulets in a totally different way to the Montague s the loud roaring noise is used to make
the Capulet seem more menacing than the Montague s and that the Capulet are feared by the
Montague s . As from the moment Tybalt steps out of his car , western style music is played , this non
diagetic sound is used to prepare the audience for the western style that is about to occur, this western
style music ties in with the diagetic sound of the sign from the petrol station swinging , this all links in
with the western genre which coincides with the style of fighting between the two families in this
particular scene. When Tybalt steps out if the Capulet car we only see his western style boots that link
in with the western style music and the sign swinging . The sound his boots make when he steps out
on the lit match seem menacing , because we cannot see his face and he makes a horrible noise with
his boots . After the prologue is read by the newsreader , the camera pans over the city . These erratic
camera shots , show images of buildings that belong to the two families and religious buildings such
as the statue of Jesus in the centre of the city . These images give a birds eye view of the city as if we
are in a helicopter .Because of the erratic

I Hear America Singing The American Dream
Despite many people insisting that the American Dream is unattainable because of issues people will
face in America, others argue that the American Dream is still very achievable these days because of
the opportunities we provide, and new ways of living in the United States.
Only in America can someone start with nothing and achieve the American Dream. That s the
greatness of this country (Rafael Cruz). A controversial topic a lot of people discuss is whether the
American Dream is only just a dream now. Many argue that financially and emotionally it s hard to
live an easy life. Others state that the U.S is the greatest country on earth and can provide endless
opportunities for anyone. The American Dream is still a reasonable goal in America, ... Show more

As times have changed, you don t have to live like everyone else and always try to gain money with
the white picket fence around your perfect garden home. Instead to live a happy, loving life. Courtney
Martin, a wife, mother of two children explains that everyone can have their own American Dream.
She describes to everyone that not everybody has to achieve the same thing. Courtney herself doesn t
own a house, but instead lives in a small community approximately the size of 1.8 acres, her family
and the neighbors all dine together 3 times a day but make sure to make privacy for one another. The
houses are all eco friendly with solar panels so an electricity bill over ten dollars is scarce. Now this
isn t the American Dream many people desire and it is abnormal from regular living lifestyles, but this
is a new way of living that makes Courtney

Forensic Evidence
When investigators are trying to capture evidence off the internet, they can print it out or use a screen
capture and they will have to collect the metadata. Even though the investigator can use a screen
capture, will that satisfy the court? The investigator should use forensic software to collect the
metadata and after collecting it, the evidence should be protected (Sullivan, 2015). The person can
both encrypt it and perhaps put it under lock and key until the trial to show chain of evidence
(Sullivan, 2015).
While looking at the website the investigator may capture the html or the source files of the website to
supplement their evidence (Sullivan, 2015). While everything is on the internet, the investigator
should represent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pictures contain a lot of Meta data that investigators can use to tell where a person has been and
sometimes it has the date and what camera was used. Investigators may be able to get a warrant to
capture live phone calls such as wiretapping a person to hear what kind of phone calls they are making
and to whom (Forensic Science Simplified, n.d).
Chain of Custody.
An investigator wants to have a chain of custody of evidence because if the chain of evidence is
compromised, the evidence may not be admissible in court because the opposing side can say that the
evidence could have been tampered with. Documentation is important because the case may not go to
trial for a couple of years. It can help trigger an investigator s memory while testifying in court.
By documenting all of the evidence, an investigator may interpret the results and the data that they get
if they are using forensics software. If another investigator does the forensics and does not get the
same results as the initial investigator, the second investigator will want to know why and how the
first investigator came up with those results (Coons, 2015). The second investigator may want to try
out what the first investigator did in order to see if they receive the same results.
A chain of custody paper should have the specifics or a paper trail on how the

The Poetry Of An Author
Many critics of poetry are of the opinion to approach the poems or works of an author ignoring or
disregarding their biographical features , as if did not influence at all on the design and creation of his
poems . While it is true that some sepsis can help when it comes to not fall into false interpretations or
twisted and complicated analogies , which amounts to combine meanings of certain verses to personal
circumstances experienced by its author, it is no less true that a good biographical knowledge of vital
events of the authors can greatly help clear this or that dark side that we find in a poem or a work, the
reasons why the title of one form or another or even the way they were ordered poems.
In the case that concerns us Sylvia Plath I could not shake that biographism; What s more, thanks to
him I met the poetry of this woman who, otherwise, would never have aroused my curiosity. So,
biographical circumstance for some critics is almost like a curse. It has been the key element that led
me to the poetry of this woman. My first approach to Sylvia Plath came after seeing the film Sylvia (a
biopic, to increase my biographer fault) starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Daniel Craig in the role of the
poet and her husband respectively. Already knowing the tragic end of Sylvia Plath, was the suicide
scene in that movie that led me to delve into his life and therefore in his work . Sylvia s life had an end
for me very attractive: suicide. It was from there, motivated by the

Negative Essay On Technology For Animals
Technology for Animals
Often technology is taken too far but is technology for animals taking it too far? Thinking about it
there is technology for animals which has been around for quite some time just not anything too crazy.
Technology that has been around since 2003 is a tracker that is most commonly used on birds working
as GPS tracking. Like technology for humans it can have positive and negative effects It can be
helping the animals for example a 3D printing of a bird s beak or hurting them by drones scaring or
getting too close to wild life. A lot of the current technology is being designed is for service dogs to
help their owners, for example, the FIDO project. Their main goal being able to use technology to
create an accessible way for the dog to help their owner. Technology for animals can be helpful for
people who need it but technology may change our relationships with our animals. The FIDO project
is more of a recent project that focuses on giving people with disabilities the chance for their service
dog to potentially save their life. Owners who require a service animal have special bond because they
do have to depend a lot on their animal. Newer points out the most of technology made for animals is
not designed with the animals experience in mind. This wearable technology for dogs consists of
natural dog behaviors such as biting, tugging, and nose touches all in a vest the dog wears (Jackson 1).

The New Science Of Winning Book
In the New Science of Winning book, (Davenport Harris, 2007, p.7) analytics is defined as the
extensive use of data, statistical and quantitative analysis, explanatory and predictive models, and fact
based management to drive decisions and actions. [1]. To be successful in today s competition, my
current employer, DLL Financial Solutions Partner (DLL), is competing on analytics and fully aligned
its core strategies to be supported by extensive statistical and computer based decisions. DLL is a
global financial services company with operation in 36 countries, and its main focus is in the
commercial equipment finance sector. In the following paragraph, I will explain DLL s position in the
industry and its ability to successfully compete on analytics with regards to its core business functions.
In the organizational layer, DLL has a global business intelligence and global analytics team. The
business intelligence team s focus is data warehousing, dashboard designing and providing real time
data companywide for all the countries, which can be queried via SQL or Hyperion. Given that data
often needs clean up and analysis to better understand its trends, the business intelligence team has
created a Virtual Reporting Tool which is accessible by all members of the company and is meant to
be the only source of the truth. This tool provides live reports and dashboards which are used for
monitoring purposes and for analysis. On the other hand, the global analytics team s focus is

Belief Systems In Australia Essay
Introduction: Belief systems have positively affected society, as can be seen in Australia, Switzerland,
and my home country Indonesia. Although conflicts happen because of belief systems, such as the
discrimination of indigenous peoples ( United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous
Peoples, 4 5), it will continue to affect the world this way unless certain actions are taken, but I am
hopeful that belief systems will continue to be a positive impact towards the world. Global
Perspective: Belief systems play a positive role in maintaining peace in Australia, such as Christians
and Muslims sharing a safe haven together, but Christianity has 3 major positive influences today in
Australia: the well known international band Hillsong, and it can prove its positive effects by
attracting a few hundred thousand people to a camp or a Praise and Worship concert
(Houston, n.p.). This is a positive impact because it helps many Christian families to spend time

Its only positive influence is the promotion of human rights (Sharma, 229). There is only one positive
influence because Indonesian Christianity is a minor religion. Human rights are needed for the growth
of a country because it gives equality among peoples and both equality and human rights go against
discrimination ( The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, n.p.). Christianity is a positive influence
towards Indonesia because it teaches Indonesians to help unfortunate people, and prevent
discrimination against them, in particular indigenous peoples and the poor ( United Nations
Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, 4 5). This shows that belief systems benefit
Indonesia by helping unfortunate people. As a Indonesian Christian, I am also willing to help the poor
because they live a bad life, whereas I live a good life, going to school, getting good education, living

Media Pitching
Tips on Pitching to the Media By Marsha Friedman Apr 2, 2008 So now you really feel like you are
ready! You have decided to harness the power of PR to get national media attention on television, talk
radio or in newspapers and magazines for your company, product or services. First, let me
congratulate you on this point! This is a big step in the right direction of growing your media
exposure! By now you have probably sat down and looked at your topic, have fully developed your
message and are confident and ready to start getting yourself out there. The next step in this process is
the one that many dread and some even hate: pitching your message to the media. Here are a few
quick tips on how to effectively pitch to the media supplied by Marsha Friedman. 1. ... Show more

Don t rely on the media s research. Although the media will do their own homework don t rely solely
on the results of their research. Make sure to give them your facts. This is especially important if your
topic is controversial as you want them to have the data that supports your position. When you are
pitching it is useful to have as many facts ready to use as possible. If you have a tricky or detailed
topic, present as much information as you can so that the busy, inundated producer or journalist can
grasp your message quickly. The more time you save explaining, the more time you can spend
pitching the benefits of having you as a guest or featured on their pages. 4. There is power in numbers.
What we are talking about here is especially true if you are pitching a controversial topic. If you re
pitching a controversial topic to a radio or TV show, select the guests you want to appear with you.
This gives you more control of the segment and ensures your message will gain acceptance from the
audience. If you do not have suggested guests to pitch to the producer, and they pick it up, you may
just be setting yourself up for an on air ambush, which if you are not prepared, can land you in deep

Simulated Prison Experiment By Philip Zimbardo
Individuals are constantly forced to make moral decisions that many of them do not fully understand
the reason behind it. These decisions are made daily in our work and personal lives without ever
knowing the consequences. The Stanford Prison Experiment of 1971 conducted by Professor Philip
Zimbardo wanted to observe the psychological effects of ordinary people that were placed in a
simulated prison environment (Morality, 2014). Zimbardo selected twenty four healthy and mentally
stable male college students for the experiment and placed them in a mock prison. The experiment
was conducted in the basement of the Stanford psychology building. Half of the participants were

More importantly, this research study helped avoid future poorly constructed social experiments from
occurring again. A bad evil was done to help further understanding and prevention.
To understand other perspective views on the social experiment, I explained the experiment other
three other individuals. A person close to me I explained the experiment to was my girlfriend
Christine. She is very reserved and a pacifist. Her reaction was rational but felt the experiment was
unethical for the guards to purposely abuse and dehumanize the prisoners when they were initially
healthy. She believes when you give individual authority and power that they previously did not have
before will surely abuse it.
Another individual I explained the social experiment to is my female co worker Jacqueline who is a
tough minded single mother. Her reaction to the subject matter was very indifferent. However, she
believed the experiment was ethical to do since all the participants should have know what they were
getting themselves into. She believed it would help shape an individuals mind set to prepare them in
the future if placed in a difficult

How to Solve the Foreclosure Crisis in America
The foreclosure crisis in America can only be resolved by every American citizen working together to
build a stronger America by changing the way we make decisions for expenditures in our lives. We
must stop overextending ourselves beyond our economic means. The foreclosure crisis of America has
been caused by Americans borrowing money to purchase a home that they cannot afford. Lending
agencies have allowed Americans to borrow more money to buy a home than they can afford. Each
lending agency seemingly used logical reasoning that if they did not lend the funds to the
homeowners, another agency would. The foreclosure crisis was caused by homeowners, businesses,

Though many experts advise against refinancing to consolidate a mortgage with credit card debt,
many more people have more respect for the individual who pays their bills on time.
The foreclosure crisis had to be predictable at some point by the lending agencies. But since there is
no undo on what has been done and a bailout is not desired, the lending agencies must work with the
homeowner and vice versa to reach a new agreement upon legal documents for repayment of the loan
acquired by the homeowner. The lending agency must also actively consider its own budget, both
from a balance sheet point of view and a profit and loss point of view. In order to build a stronger
balance sheet, the lending agencies should consider using some of the liquid cash to pay off some of
the creditors to eliminate debt. Some items such as properties may need to be sold for cash to help
with reducing the debt of the agency. And the profit and loss statement should be reviewed to
determine if any of the expenditures could be eliminated or reduced drastically. Yes, drastically
because this is a crisis for which resolution is needed! The income should then be reviewed to
determine various avenues of fund raising to speed up the payoff of any debt the lending agency has
incurred.

The Effects Of Osteoporosis On The Development Of The Disease
Osteoporosis is typically a silent disease characterized by low bone mass and decreased bone density
ending by fractures that occur following no or at least minimal trauma. Osteoporosis has multiple
pathophysiologic mechanisms that interact in the development of the disease (1, 2). The disease
simply results from the imbalance between bone resorption and bone formation. Increased bone
resorption or decreased bone formation may lead to osteoporosis. Bone is made of collagen and
mineral components. The former gives bone its flexibility and energy absorbing capability, while the
later gives bone its stiffness and strength. Imbalances can impair bone quality and result in reduced
bone strength and subsequently fractures.
Bone mass increases ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So the bone mass in older adults equals the peak bone mass achieved by age 18 25 minus the amount
of bone subsequently lost.
The process of bone remodeling may be considered a preventive maintenance mechanism that
maintains a healthy skeleton because of continually removing older bone and replacing it with new
bone. When this balance is altered, resulting in greater bone removal than replacement, bone loss
occurs (5).
Menopause and advancing age play the main role in this imbalance. With the onset of menopause, the
rate of bone remodeling increases.
Oestrogen deficiency
Accelerated bone loss can be affected by hormonal status as occurs in perimenopausal women.
Gonadal deficiency can impact elderly men and women and can be secondary to various disease states
and medications. Bone loss in women accelerates rapidly in the first years after menopause.
Osteoblasts, osteocytes, and osteoclasts all express estrogen receptors.
Estrogen deficiency can affect bone density by(5):
1 Up regulates osteoclast progenitor cells.
2 Cause increased recruitment of higher numbers of preosteoclasts.
3 Increased activity and lifespan of mature osteoclasts.
4 Estrogen affects bones indirectly through cytokines and local growth factors
Aging
Aging interacts mainly with bone deposition than bone resorption. The supply of osteoblasts, which
deposit bone, as compared to demand is progressively declining with aging. After the third decade of
life, bone

Animal Testing Persuasive Essay
Did you know that 100 million animals are killed annually due to animal testing ( The Truth about
Animals Used for Experimentation )? Vivisection is the practice of doing operations on live animals
for scientific research or medical advancements. It occurs all over the world including the U.S. There
are anti vivisectionists, those who doesn t believe in animal testing, and pro vivisectionists, those who
believe in animal testing (Coster 6). Animals should not used in medical testing because it s inhumane,
unnecessary, ineffective and costly.
Animals are treated immorally and inhumanely in testing facilities. Many pro vivisectionists claim
animals are treated respectfully but this is false. Experiments done on animals are violent, harmful and
sickening:
Experiments can involve: drowning, suffocating, starving, burning, blinding, destroying hearing,
damaging brains, severing limbs, crushing organs, inducing heart attacks, ulcers, and paralysis. ( The
Truth about Animals Used for Experimentation )
Many of these procedures are considered mild , but these are very severe procedures which almost
always result in the death of the animal ( About Animal Testing ).
In 2013, an investigation took place in an United Kingdom laboratory. The findings were shocking.
Investigators found that tests were being done are very young puppies and kittens. The puppies were
removed from their mothers at only 4 weeks of age. They were tested and many died in tests. Even

Film Festival At Antelope Valley College
Title Undetermined
When taking a look at the extensive list of films I decided to pick and choose from a date range and
genre range. I wanted to not only focus on one area of film, but also on different aspects across the
board stylistically and ...... Some of the films I chose because they were tried and true favourites of
mine, and some I chose because I had never heard of them before. I wanted to comfort and challenge
myself at the same time while taking into consideration what may work best for the theoretical Film
Festival at Antelope Valley College. When I think of Film Festivals I think of a presentation to help
entice the psyche toward a more progressive thought process. Films need to make the audience stop
and think for a little bit afterward, there needs to be a pause, a moment of huh... , even if brief. It needs
to be something different, something unusual. Film Festivals shouldn t be for standard films, they
shouldn t be for the mass marketed and well known. So as much as I loved, Star Wars for example, I
knew it was less than ideal for this situation. This assignment also gave me the opportunity to reassess
the validity of some films that I thought I had liked but upon second analysis, might not hold in such
high regard. In the end the films I chose are Juno, High Noon, The King s Speech, Exit Through the
Gift Shop, Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, and Apocalypse

A Primate s Memoir, By American Biologist
(1)The book, A Primate s Memoir, by American biologist, Robert Sapolsky is divided into four parts.
These four parts detail the stages of both his research of the behavior of a troop of African baboons
and his unintentional research of human behavior as to himself through his encounters and
experiences as a young researcher in Kenya, Africa for the first time. Sapolsky names the four parts of
his book to describe the four stages of a baboon s growth. Ultimately, these parts also reflect Sapolsky
s personal growth and transformation as he journeys through Africa and studies the baboon troop.
Since, at the outset of his research, the baboons he will study seem to be around this age, Part 1 is
labeled The Adolescent Years . As he is both a rather naïve and untested young man as well as a new
researcher on his first trip to Kenya, these are also adolescent years for Sapolsky. In his youthful
inexperience and naivete, he manages to get kidnapped and become broke, homeless, and scammed
out of money by people falsely claiming they were in need. As with the baboons, for Sapolsky,
adolescence is a rough journey but lessons learned the hard way are an effective means of instilling an
understanding that one s ability to survive depends on an ability to comprehend how one s
environment operates and must be navigated. In the end, lessons learned in adolescence help provide
the guidelines and skills for coping with future challenges that both primates and their descendants are

The Silmarillion Chapter Summary
Thus Douglas Charles Kane sets forth the inspiration for his meticulous review of the origin of the text
Christopher Tolkien presented in 1977 as The Silmarillion. I confess that I myself belonged to the
second group, until the publication of The History of Middle earth volumes revealed the extent of the
evolution of the Legendarium. Christopher has presented that evolution roughly in a chronological
format, with The Book of Lost Tales containing Tolkien s earliest writings and The War of the Jewels
the latest concerning the tales of The Silmarillion. Anyone interested in following the development of
a single tale, therefore, must work through portions of multiple volumes. Kane, who calls The
Silmarillion arguably his most important work (23), set out to show how Christopher, with the
assistant of Guy Gavriel Kay, put together what has become the settled text of The Silmarillion. Kane
proceeds through The Silmarillion chapter by chapter, showing the source within The History of
Middle earth for each paragraph. [Additionally, he referred rarely to Unfinished Tales, The Children of
Húrin, and, in at least one instance, Tolkien s letters (25).] Each chapter of Kane s book contains a
table detailing his findings. For example, for Chapter 13 Of the Return of the Noldor, paragraph 1 was

Salary Caps In Professional Sports
Salary caps are a very important tool used in professional sports. All 4 major professional sports

a team can spend on players salaries. It can be as a per player limit or a total limit for the team s roster.
It is basically put in place to help the small market teams stay competitive. It is meant so the wealthy

It matters not who you love, where you love, why you love when you love or how you love it only
matters that you John Lennon. Homosexuals have been fighting for equality over six decades in
America history. The situation of gay equality has slowly simmered down. Homosexuals are still face
with certain issues. One of these issues is gay couples do not have the right to adopt children in certain
states. Adoption should be legalized for gay couples; if they meet the requirements of being a great
parent deserves to have that privilege. Here are some of the reasons why homosexual s couples are
great parents. One reason is homosexual couples choose to have kids. Unlike heterosexuals couples
who typically have uh oh babies. According to the Guttmacher Institute about half of U.S. pregnancies
are unplanned and half of those unplanned pregnancies end in birth rather than abortion . Not saying

Children raised by homosexual s couples are often taught to be open minded and display love towards
everyone. In heterosexual families children were taught the dos and don ts of his or her sex. In other
case in homosexual families children were taught to dream big. According to the American Journal of
Orthopsychiatry, Clark University s Goldberg interviewed 46 adults who grew up with at least one gay
parent. Twenty eight of the interviewees independently mentioned that they felt their upbringing made
them more tolerant and accepting. The third reason is that nurture the helpless. In adoption children
with special needs or are older have a slight chance to not get adopted. The Evans B. Donald Adoption
Institute found that 60% of gay and lesbian adoptive parents adopt across races. The percentage of
homosexuals that would like to adopt get higher and higher every year and a lot of potential parents

A Struggle For Acceptance In Raymond s Run
People often try to be who they are not, they try to be what others want them to be. $$$ This causes
insecurity and a desperation for acceptance from others. People try to have a second face to everyone
else, trying to receive acceptance, but completely ignoring the consequences: the pain, lack of
freedom, and guilt of lying to others who you appreciate, and yourself, as well. However, some people
realize it is ok to be different, to be unique. After all, everyone is different. These people learn to
accept that they are different, and cease the torment of letting others pick out their flaws, and pressure
them to be perfect, to be the gender stereotypical person everyone should be. The imperfections of
every person are what makes them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is shown in her narration during at the beginning of the story:
I don t have much work to do around the house like some girls. My mother does that. And I don t have
to earn my pocket money by hustling; George runs errands for the big boys and sells Christmas cards.
And anything else that s got to get done, my father does. (P. 25, Lines 1 6)
This means that Squeaky is not required to do any housework, as girls are stereotypically thought to
(have to) do. Later, the protagonist of the song Whatever It Takes looks back at his/her previous years
and thinks that he/she needs to do more:
Looking at my years like a martyrdom
Everybody needs to be a part of em
Never be enough, I m the prodigal son
I was born to run, I was born for this
Similarly, in Raymond s Run, Squeaky talks about always winning the first place medal, even in her
early youth. Squeaky also talks about always wanting to do more like win more races, like the quarter
meter relay. Squeaky thinks out

Reasons Why Bowling Should Be In The Olympics
Bowling has been around since ancient Egypt. Bowling is a great way to get exercise also, you don t
have to be extremely fit to be a bowler, and you don t even have to have legs because you can bowl
with a special helper. The Olympics have been around since Ancient Greece, so it makes sense that
those two go together. Bowling was previously in the Olympics but it was only in the Olympics once
in the 1980 s because it did not get enough viewers. Even though bowling is not a very popular sport,
it should be in the Olympics because there are bowlers from around the world, it was previously in the
Olympics, and it can have multiple events. The Professional Bowling Association has about 4,300
members worldwide. They come from America, Mexico, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

another. Finally, they can bowl a baker where each player bowls 2 frames in a game so the 1st person
bowls they first and sixth frame, the 2nd bowler bowls the second and seventh frame and so on until
the last bowler (the anchor) bowls they fifth and the tenth frame to determine who wins or if they can

Living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
Today, hundreds of thousands of service men and women and recent military veterans have seen
combat. Many have been shot at, seen their buddies killed, or witnessed death up close. These are
types of events that can lead to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder ( Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
PTSD: A Growing Epidemic. ) Anyone that has gone through a traumatic event can be diagnosed with
PTSD but research shows, military men and women are more susceptible to having PTSD (PTSD: A

have lived through a drastic trauma that is hard to overcome and go on with their lives. PTSD effects
everyday interactions and feelings. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder affects the daily lives of the people

PTSD (PTSD Effects.) Certain symptoms of PTSD, such as difficulties concentrating and problems
sleeping may make it difficult for a person with PTSD to pay attention at work, stay organized, or
make it to work on time. People with PTSD also have higher rates of unemployment than people

reported. Both revenue recognition and expenses paid may not coincide with actual cash transactions.

Reflection Paper On Final Thinking
Coming into this course, I really did not know what to expect. It was second class on my first day of
classes at college. I was not sure what exactly we would do and learn in class. The first thing we
talked about in this course was what kind of class do we want it to be. We gave a lot of topics to the
professor, but the one that stuck to me was the word creative. Professor Cathey told us to use our
creativity for every assignment and every discussion we will ever have in this class. The word creative
stuck to me ever since this day as I am writing to you after all the assignments and discussions we had
for this course. In my opinion, I feel like I accomplished this goal and learn even more about myself.
My final poster for this course went very well in my opinion. I tried very hard to come up with a
question that fits me and can relate to others. Some things that worked for me was actually coming up
with a question. My question, Why are new members joining fraternities knowing hazing still occurs,
was pretty tough to come up with because I had a lot of trouble pinpointing on one question for the
subject of hazing. I believe the thing that worked for me was coming up with the lenses for this
questions. There is a lot of information for hazing from many different viewpoints, so it was simple to
find out details for each lense. However, during this project I find out some particular things that did
not work out quite well. Trying to talk about the background and the

Ted Kooser s Poem, Surviving
Omnipresent Death
Ted Kooser s poem, Surviving , can be interpreted in many different ways. At first the poem seems to
be about a man who is watching a bug being attentive to its surroundings and the bug having the fear
of death. Another way to interpret this poem is that death is unrelenting. Even when the speaker seems
to have ceased the image of death, it finds its way back. This is prevalent because the speaker starts
talking about the fear of death, then altering the tone by describing this bug he witnesses. The speaker
then leaves the reader uncertain at the end of the poem. Ted Kooser reveals the uncertainty of the bugs
near future in the last line of the poem. A careful analysis of the poem, the poem is truly about a man
in his final stages of life being attentive to death and the beauty of the bug he observes.
The speaker has a fear of death and cannot escape its presence. The author states, There are days when
the fear of death/ is ubiquitous as light (Kooser 1 2). This line is a simile that compares the fear of
death to the presence of light. This line has a very negative connotation, because the speaker is
stressing that the only things visible are seen as a way to die. This statement does not t reveal if the
speaker himself has this fear of death. This line does indicate that the speaker thinks about death a lot,
but does not think of death everyday. This means the author may think about death when he alone or
sad. The speaker states that the fear of death

Comparison Of Love In Like Water For Chocolate And The...
Despite their differences in age, heritage, and story, Tita, from Like Water for Chocolate by Laura
Esquirel, and Rose of Sharon, from The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck, are similar in how they
are changed by love, abandoned by love, and protect their families. Both Tita and Rose of Sharon are
changed through love, experience abandonment, and protect their families. Love influences Tita and
Rose of Sharon s lives, but love s effect that makes them similar. Tita s expresses change when Pedro
confesses his love for her. Tita responds enthusiastically, Yes, a thousand times. From that night on she
would love him forever. And now she had to give him up. (18). Despite knowing that he is betrothed

Symbolism In On The Waterfront
Symbolism means ideas, behavior, and characteristics because they relate to the essay called On the
Waterfront. But in the film, however, the pigeons, hooks, and a hanging crate is symbols too, which
represents the central theme of the film. The examples that symbolize the story are the pigeons which
represents Terry s life, the hooks which relates how awful the union is, and a hanging crate that
represent Terry s death. So, the main points of this essay are why Terry Malloy felt controlled by the
union, why Terry is so upset, and why Terry Malloy is a fighter. Pigeons are symbols that make Terry
Malloy feel controlled. Also, pigeons are beautiful creatures that can be seen from power lines and in
large fields too. When Terry Malloy works for the union, it was controlled by the MOB, and they took
the workers money for themselves. So, in the story, the pigeons relate to Terry s future because they
relate to peace and freedom which Terry, does make a statement about being like one because he says,
they got it made, they eat all they want, fly around like crazy, sleep side by side, and raise gobs of
squabs (On the Waterfront). The last part about pigeons is that they make Terry happy when he is off
work, and with them because he is away from the union and that he is not being controlled like a
slave. Hooks are the next symbol that makes Terry Malloy feel angry and this is because of the corrupt
union. What triggered his emotions is when Father Barry repeats the word

The Social Determinants Of Health Insurance And Quality...
Healthcare inequality mainly revolves around the disparity in the quality of health and health services
among different population groups in the society. It touches on the accessibility of health insurance
and thus the accessibility of quality healthcare services among the different population groups. There
disparities in the access to quality healthcare among the different races and ethnicities, social classes
and between the two genders. These disparities are mainly influenced by and are reflective of the
differences in access to health insurance among these population groups. These disparities ultimately
lead to similar disparities in healthcare services access, health outcomes and the presence of disease
among these different population groups. There are several factors that influence access to health
insurance and quality health services, referred to as determinants of health among the populations.
There are cultural, environmental social and economic determinants to health which create an unfair
playing ground for the different population groups in American society. This paper examines the
social determinants to health, the extent to which they affect access to health insurance and quality
healthcare and ways in which they can be reversed to enable equal access to health insurance and
health care services among these populations. The issue of disparities in access to health insurance and
by extension access to quality healthcare services is important because it affects

Diamond Foods Fraud
Allegations of Diamond Foods Inc. s Understatement of Accounts Payable.
Abstract On November 1, 2011, Diamond Foods Inc. s (NASDAQ: DMND) unexpectedly disclosed
serious discrepancies (possible understatement of accounts payable) regarding its 2011 financial
statement reports and as a result announced its decision to delay its acquisition of the Pringles snack
business from Procter amp; Gamble Company (P amp;G) (NYSE: PG). Naturally, the November 1,
2011 confession caused an immediate plunge of Diamond Food s stock price, but worse, it triggered
several lawsuits from furious investors and created rumors about the future viability of the company.

The controversy lies with a payment made to farmers on September 2011, well after the end of
Diamond s fiscal year closing, July 31, 2011. Diamond classified this particular payment to walnut
farmers as a momentum payment of 30 to 40 cents per pound for the coming 2011 crop. However, the
walnut farmers contend that the payment was really a way to compensate them for their 2010 crop
payment deficiency. The walnut farmer s contention is very interesting. Essentially you can draw two
scenarios from the information that has been provided so far: Scenario 1. The walnut farmers were
indeed paid in full for their 2010 crop and the momentum payment was truly a pre payment for the
farmer s 2011 crop. Scenario 2. Diamond insidiously understated 2011 accounts payable to walnut
farmers as a way to bolster their 2011 net income. Potentially Fraudulent 2011 Financial Statements
The remainder of this report will focus on scenario 2. So what s the big deal? Why would Diamond
want to make their income statement look better? Recall the acquisition of Pringle chips from P
amp;G When Diamond announced on April 2011 that it was going to acquire Pringle chips form P
amp;G, its stock surged. Unfortunately, according to Andrejczak of MarketWatch magazine (2011,
November 2), Diamonds decline in stock value from its high of $94 to a low

Colonial Women and Her Changing Role Essay
Colonial Women and Her Changing Roles The colonial woman has often been imagined as a demure
person, dressed in long skirt, apron and bonnet, toiling away at the spinning wheel, while tending to
the stew at the hearth. In reality, the women of the early settlements of the United States were much
more influential, strong and vital to the existence of the colonies. Her role, however, has shifted as the
needs of the times dictated.
Early Settlement Years Women of the seventeenth century had many reasons to accept the challenge of
traversing to the New World. Life in England was not always easy, in fact, sometimes worse than in
Virginia. Working conditions were appalling, with little pay and long hours. Many found work as

Communication Gap Between Generation Y And The Baby Boomer...
This paper reviews an article written by Elza Venter from the Department of Psychology of Education
at the University of South Africa. The article is titled Bridging the communication gap between
Generation Y and the Baby Boomer generation.
The article examines the generational communication gap between generation Y and the Baby Boomer
generation with the intention to suggest ways to bridge the gap. Venter (2016) argues that meaningful
communication between the two generations is important because they have connected channels of
communication and the two can give meaning to each other s lives. For instance, Baby Boomer are the
parents, employers, lecturers and teachers of Generation Y (Venter, 2016: 2). However, the two
generations do not always maintain good channels of communication. According to Venter (2016) the
baby boomer generation and Generation Y often times find themselves engaged in conflict as a result
generational differences.
In order to understand the communication gap between the two generations, Venter (2016) studied
interpersonal communication style of the each generation. The author found that Generation Y and the
Baby Boomer generation value different communication styles and that creates a communication gap
between the two generations.
According to Venter (2016) the main differences in the two generations communications styles can be
summarised as follows:
Members of Generation Y are called digital natives because this generation grew up using

On the other hand the Capulet boys have loud roaring coming from their car luhrman uses this to present the Capulets in a totally different way to the Montague s the loud roaring noise is used to make the Capulet seem more menacing than the Montague s and that the Capulet are feared by the Montague s . As from the moment Tybalt steps out of his car , western style music is played , this non diagetic sound is used to prepare the audience for the western style that is about to occur, this western style music ties in with the diagetic sound of the sign from the petrol station swinging , this all links in with the western genre which coincides with the style of fighting between the two families in this particular scene. When Tybalt steps out if the Capulet car we only see his western style boots that link in with the western style music and the sign swinging . The sound his boots make when he steps out on the lit match seem menacing , because we cannot see his face and he makes a horrible noise with his boots . After the prologue is read by the newsreader , the camera pans over the city . These erratic camera shots , show images of buildings that belong to the two families and religious buildings such as the statue of Jesus in the centre of the city . • 3. I Hear America Singing The American Dream Despite many people insisting that the American Dream is unattainable because of issues people will face in America, others argue that the American Dream is still very achievable these days because of the opportunities we provide, and new ways of living in the United States. Only in America can someone start with nothing and achieve the American Dream. That s the greatness of this country (Rafael Cruz). A controversial topic a lot of people discuss is whether the American Dream is only just a dream now. Many argue that financially and emotionally it s hard to live an easy life. Others state that the U.S is the greatest country on earth and can provide endless opportunities for anyone. The American Dream is still a reasonable goal in America, ... Instead to live a happy, loving life. Courtney Martin, a wife, mother of two children explains that everyone can have their own American Dream. She describes to everyone that not everybody has to achieve the same thing. Courtney herself doesn t own a house, but instead lives in a small community approximately the size of 1.8 acres, her family and the neighbors all dine together 3 times a day but make sure to make privacy for one another. The houses are all eco friendly with solar panels so an electricity bill over ten dollars is scarce. • 4. Forensic Evidence When investigators are trying to capture evidence off the internet, they can print it out or use a screen capture and they will have to collect the metadata. Even though the investigator can use a screen capture, will that satisfy the court? The investigator should use forensic software to collect the metadata and after collecting it, the evidence should be protected (Sullivan, 2015). The person can both encrypt it and perhaps put it under lock and key until the trial to show chain of evidence (Sullivan, 2015). While looking at the website the investigator may capture the html or the source files of the website to supplement their evidence (Sullivan, 2015). Pictures contain a lot of Meta data that investigators can use to tell where a person has been and sometimes it has the date and what camera was used. Investigators may be able to get a warrant to capture live phone calls such as wiretapping a person to hear what kind of phone calls they are making and to whom (Forensic Science Simplified, n.d). Chain of Custody. An investigator wants to have a chain of custody of evidence because if the chain of evidence is compromised, the evidence may not be admissible in court because the opposing side can say that the evidence could have been tampered with. Documentation is important because the case may not go to trial for a couple of years. It can help trigger an investigator s memory while testifying in court. By documenting all of the evidence, an investigator may interpret the results and the data that they get if they are using forensics software. If another investigator does the forensics and does not get the same results as the initial investigator, the second investigator will want to know why and how the first investigator came up with those results (Coons, 2015). The second investigator may want to try out what the first investigator did in order to see if they receive the same results. • 5. The Poetry Of An Author Many critics of poetry are of the opinion to approach the poems or works of an author ignoring or disregarding their biographical features , as if did not influence at all on the design and creation of his poems . While it is true that some sepsis can help when it comes to not fall into false interpretations or twisted and complicated analogies , which amounts to combine meanings of certain verses to personal circumstances experienced by its author, it is no less true that a good biographical knowledge of vital events of the authors can greatly help clear this or that dark side that we find in a poem or a work, the reasons why the title of one form or another or even the way they were ordered poems. In the case that concerns us Sylvia Plath I could not shake that biographism; What s more, thanks to him I met the poetry of this woman who, otherwise, would never have aroused my curiosity. So, biographical circumstance for some critics is almost like a curse. It has been the key element that led me to the poetry of this woman. My first approach to Sylvia Plath came after seeing the film Sylvia (a biopic, to increase my biographer fault) starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Daniel Craig in the role of the poet and her husband respectively. Already knowing the tragic end of Sylvia Plath, was the suicide scene in that movie that led me to delve into his life and therefore in his work . Sylvia s life had an end for me very attractive: suicide. It was from there, motivated by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Thinking about it there is technology for animals which has been around for quite some time just not anything too crazy. Technology that has been around since 2003 is a tracker that is most commonly used on birds working as GPS tracking. Like technology for humans it can have positive and negative effects It can be helping the animals for example a 3D printing of a bird s beak or hurting them by drones scaring or getting too close to wild life. A lot of the current technology is being designed is for service dogs to help their owners, for example, the FIDO project. Their main goal being able to use technology to create an accessible way for the dog to help their owner. Technology for animals can be helpful for people who need it but technology may change our relationships with our animals. The FIDO project is more of a recent project that focuses on giving people with disabilities the chance for their service dog to potentially save their life. Owners who require a service animal have special bond because they do have to depend a lot on their animal. Newer points out the most of technology made for animals is not designed with the animals experience in mind. Although conflicts happen because of belief systems, such as the discrimination of indigenous peoples ( United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, 4 5), it will continue to affect the world this way unless certain actions are taken, but I am hopeful that belief systems will continue to be a positive impact towards the world. Global Perspective: Belief systems play a positive role in maintaining peace in Australia, such as Christians and Muslims sharing a safe haven together, but Christianity has 3 major positive influences today in Australia: the well known international band Hillsong, and it can prove its positive effects by attracting a few hundred thousand people to a camp or a Praise and Worship concert (Houston, n.p.). Christianity is a positive influence towards Indonesia because it teaches Indonesians to help unfortunate people, and prevent discrimination against them, in particular indigenous peoples and the poor ( United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, 4 5). You have decided to harness the power of PR to get national media attention on television, talk radio or in newspapers and magazines for your company, product or services. First, let me congratulate you on this point! This is a big step in the right direction of growing your media exposure! By now you have probably sat down and looked at your topic, have fully developed your message and are confident and ready to start getting yourself out there. The next step in this process is the one that many dread and some even hate: pitching your message to the media. Here are a few quick tips on how to effectively pitch to the media supplied by Marsha Friedman. 1. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Don t rely on the media s research. Although the media will do their own homework don t rely solely on the results of their research. Make sure to give them your facts. This is especially important if your topic is controversial as you want them to have the data that supports your position. When you are pitching it is useful to have as many facts ready to use as possible. If you have a tricky or detailed topic, present as much information as you can so that the busy, inundated producer or journalist can grasp your message quickly. The more time you save explaining, the more time you can spend pitching the benefits of having you as a guest or featured on their pages. 4. There is power in numbers. What we are talking about here is especially true if you are pitching a controversial topic. If you re pitching a controversial topic to a radio or TV show, select the guests you want to appear with you. This gives you more control of the segment and ensures your message will gain acceptance from the audience. If you do not have suggested guests to pitch to the producer, and they pick it up, you may just be setting yourself up for an on air ambush, which if you are not prepared, can land you in deep ... How to Solve the Foreclosure Crisis in America The foreclosure crisis in America can only be resolved by every American citizen working together to build a stronger America by changing the way we make decisions for expenditures in our lives. We must stop overextending ourselves beyond our economic means. The foreclosure crisis of America has been caused by Americans borrowing money to purchase a home that they cannot afford. Though many experts advise against refinancing to consolidate a mortgage with credit card debt, many more people have more respect for the individual who pays their bills on time. The foreclosure crisis had to be predictable at some point by the lending agencies. But since there is no undo on what has been done and a bailout is not desired, the lending agencies must work with the homeowner and vice versa to reach a new agreement upon legal documents for repayment of the loan acquired by the homeowner. The lending agency must also actively consider its own budget, both from a balance sheet point of view and a profit and loss point of view. In order to build a stronger balance sheet, the lending agencies should consider using some of the liquid cash to pay off some of the creditors to eliminate debt. Some items such as properties may need to be sold for cash to help with reducing the debt of the agency. And the profit and loss statement should be reviewed to determine if any of the expenditures could be eliminated or reduced drastically. Yes, drastically because this is a crisis for which resolution is needed! The income should then be reviewed to determine various avenues of fund raising to speed up the payoff of any debt the lending agency has incurred. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. The Effects Of Osteoporosis On The Development Of The Disease Osteoporosis is typically a silent disease characterized by low bone mass and decreased bone density ending by fractures that occur following no or at least minimal trauma. Osteoporosis has multiple pathophysiologic mechanisms that interact in the development of the disease (1, 2). The disease simply results from the imbalance between bone resorption and bone formation. Increased bone resorption or decreased bone formation may lead to osteoporosis. Bone is made of collagen and mineral components. The former gives bone its flexibility and energy absorbing capability, while the later gives bone its stiffness and strength. Imbalances can impair bone quality and result in reduced bone strength and subsequently fractures. Bone mass increases ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So the bone mass in older adults equals the peak bone mass achieved by age 18 25 minus the amount of bone subsequently lost. The process of bone remodeling may be considered a preventive maintenance mechanism that maintains a healthy skeleton because of continually removing older bone and replacing it with new bone. When this balance is altered, resulting in greater bone removal than replacement, bone loss occurs (5). Menopause and advancing age play the main role in this imbalance. With the onset of menopause, the rate of bone remodeling increases. Oestrogen deficiency Accelerated bone loss can be affected by hormonal status as occurs in perimenopausal women. Gonadal deficiency can impact elderly men and women and can be secondary to various disease states and medications. Bone loss in women accelerates rapidly in the first years after menopause. Vivisection is the practice of doing operations on live animals for scientific research or medical advancements. These four parts detail the stages of both his research of the behavior of a troop of African baboons and his unintentional research of human behavior as to himself through his encounters and experiences as a young researcher in Kenya, Africa for the first time. Sapolsky names the four parts of his book to describe the four stages of a baboon s growth. Ultimately, these parts also reflect Sapolsky s personal growth and transformation as he journeys through Africa and studies the baboon troop. Since, at the outset of his research, the baboons he will study seem to be around this age, Part 1 is labeled The Adolescent Years . As he is both a rather naïve and untested young man as well as a new researcher on his first trip to Kenya, these are also adolescent years for Sapolsky. In his youthful inexperience and naivete, he manages to get kidnapped and become broke, homeless, and scammed out of money by people falsely claiming they were in need. As with the baboons, for Sapolsky, adolescence is a rough journey but lessons learned the hard way are an effective means of instilling an understanding that one s ability to survive depends on an ability to comprehend how one s environment operates and must be navigated. The Silmarillion Chapter Summary Thus Douglas Charles Kane sets forth the inspiration for his meticulous review of the origin of the text Christopher Tolkien presented in 1977 as The Silmarillion. I confess that I myself belonged to the second group, until the publication of The History of Middle earth volumes revealed the extent of the evolution of the Legendarium. Christopher has presented that evolution roughly in a chronological format, with The Book of Lost Tales containing Tolkien s earliest writings and The War of the Jewels the latest concerning the tales of The Silmarillion. Anyone interested in following the development of a single tale, therefore, must work through portions of multiple volumes. Kane, who calls The Silmarillion arguably his most important work (23), set out to show how Christopher, with the assistant of Guy Gavriel Kay, put together what has become the settled text of The Silmarillion. Kane proceeds through The Silmarillion chapter by chapter, showing the source within The History of Middle earth for each paragraph. [Additionally, he referred rarely to Unfinished Tales, The Children of Húrin, and, in at least one instance, Tolkien s letters (25).] Each chapter of Kane s book contains a table detailing his findings. At first the poem seems to be about a man who is watching a bug being attentive to its surroundings and the bug having the fear of death. Another way to interpret this poem is that death is unrelenting. Even when the speaker seems to have ceased the image of death, it finds its way back. This is prevalent because the speaker starts talking about the fear of death, then altering the tone by describing this bug he witnesses. The speaker then leaves the reader uncertain at the end of the poem. Ted Kooser reveals the uncertainty of the bugs near future in the last line of the poem. A careful analysis of the poem, the poem is truly about a man in his final stages of life being attentive to death and the beauty of the bug he observes. The speaker has a fear of death and cannot escape its presence. The author states, There are days when the fear of death/ is ubiquitous as light (Kooser 1 2). This line is a simile that compares the fear of death to the presence of light. This line has a very negative connotation, because the speaker is stressing that the only things visible are seen as a way to die. This statement does not t reveal if the speaker himself has this fear of death. This line does indicate that the speaker thinks about death a lot, but does not think of death everyday. This means the author may think about death when he alone or sad. The speaker states that the fear of death ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
