Tutorial Two
(Light Coming off Lightsaber)
By Airidas Cironka
1. First of all, you should import the clip that you want to have the light coming off the lightsaber. Then you right click on the
bottom left, and created a new ‘Solid’
2. Make the colour to whatever you want the colour to be on the object. Here I choose red due to the fact that the lightsaber
in the video is red.
3. Then right click on the ‘Solid’ layer and go onto ‘Mask’ and ‘New Mask’, this will allow you to move the layer around how to
like.
4. After you have made a ‘New Mask’ on the solid layer, either double click ‘M’ or open the layer up until you see ‘Mask Path’.
Then move the layer around however you like, for example in my video the light will be on the persons face.
5. Also you should click the eye button, on the layer to allow you to see everything underneath the mask. Then when you
have outlined the person, you will need to click the little stopwatch next to ‘Mask Path’ and then move frame by frame and
move the mask around to make sure that the light is always on the thing you want it to be on.
6. Here is my progress on outlining the person.
7. After you have outlined the object, then you should unhide the layer and make sure you can see the solid colour.
8. Then you can mess around with ‘Mask Feather’, ‘Mask Opacity’ and ‘Mask Expansion’ to make the light look however you
like.
9. This is my end product.
