2. To know the effects of the minerals and
drinks that we consume everyday to our
urine
To determine how healthy our body is
based on our urine
3. Urine is a typically sterile liquid by-product of the body secreted
by the kidneys through a process called urination and exerted
through the urethra. It is one of the body's chief means of
eliminating excess water and salt and also contains nitrogen
compounds such as urea and other waste substances removed
from the blood by the kidneys.
5. Filtration
As blood courses through the glomeruli, much of its fluid, containing
both useful chemicals and dissolved waste materials, soaks out of the
blood through the membranes (by osmosis and diffusion) where it is
filtered and then flows into the Bowman's capsule. This process is called
glomerular filtration
Reabsorption
by definition, is the movement of substances out of the renal tubules back
into the blood capillaries located around the tubules (called the
peritubular copillaries). Substances reabsorbed are water, glucose and
other nutrients, and sodium (Na+) and other ions
Secretion
In this respect, secretion is reabsorption in reverse. Whereas reabsorption
moves substances out of the tubules and into the blood, secretion moves
substances out of the blood and into the tubules where they mix with the
water and other wastes and are converted into urine.
6. 1. The more water is consumed the more dilute/
light-colored the urine is
2. The less water is consumed the more
concentrated / dark colored the urine is
3. Values Ph / acidity of urine is affected by the
level of acidity drinks consumed

4. The result of our urine can be affected by not only our
consumption in drinks but also the state of the
environment. Sometimes, these little facts can change
the characteristic of our urine
