John Keats Isabella Essay
John Keats Isabella
Love is everywhere, and, even though love is not tangible, people refuse to believe that it exists.
Perhaps their belief in love is what creates love, or perhaps it is the other way around. The greatest
love is found when one least expects it as well as in people one least expects to find it in. Such an
occurrence takes place in Isabella by John Keats. In this poem, two young people, Isabella and
Lorenzo, fall in love, only to find that the sweetest and deadliest love is the love hidden away from
the prying eyes.
Like every marketed love story out there, the poem starts off with two souls who secretly admire
each other, yet are too afraid to admit it. In a society that at that time would quite possibly think ...

The two although so driven by emotions for each other, are calmed by the fact that they are in
each other s presence, for if they were not, they would be thinking of each other. This is also
shown by line 8 that displays their constant presence in each other s minds, even during sleep.
They sleep only to wake up weeping in longing for each other.
The poem continues by narrating how the love of Isabel and Lorenzo, with each day, renews
and becomes stronger. They both seem to find each other in mundane things. Her lute string gave
an echo of his name (190) is one example of this. The love of the two has drenched every action
and every thing in it and almost turned into an obsession. His love for Isabella has led Lorenzo
into hearing and seeing Isabella even before she enters the room or is even in the same
environment with him. These lines best express this growing obsession:
He knew whose gentle hand was at the latch Before the door had given her to his eyes; And from
her chamber window he would catch Her beauty farther than the falcon spies; (17 20)
Seeing Isabella from Lorenzo s point of view, one can truly witness the love that has possessed
him, for he believes that he can sense her and see her farther away than a falcon with acute vision.
Lorenzo is so blinded by love that nothing Isabella does and in her case nothing Lorenzo does, can
be wrong or not magical.

Administration Of Justice Act Research Paper
This report is based upon the information found in history books, the internet and other source
regarding the Administration of Justice Act. It all began in May 20,1774. The British Parliament
passed a law that stated Authorized the governor of Massachusetts to move the trials of royal
officials accused of committing capital offenses, while performing their natural duties, to another
colony or Great Britain, if he believed he would not find a fair trial in Massachusetts. (American
History Central). This happened after the Boston Tea Party so the colonial people and the British
had very negative feeling toward each other. Many thought this act was unfair and most acts
covered all or most of the colonies but this one only applied to Massachusetts. This act was also...

(U.S Constitution online) This act played a key role in the rising of rebellious colonists but the
other acts went hand in hand to help punish the people of the 13 colonies. These acts were: the
Boston Port Act, the Massachusetts Government Act, the Quartering Act and the Quebec Act. The
group responsible for taking in these so called criminals, at least in the eyes of the British, was the
Kings or Queens Bench. This act, when enforced by Thomas Gage, was extremely unfair and
unjust. This caused the colonist to take matters into there own hands after the trial of those solders
at the Boston Massacre. Because of its unfairness the colonist took a liking to calling it the Murder
Act (United States History.) The colonist fought against this act and the many more unfair and
unjust acts and laws put in by parliament by starting a war. This war would lead to the foundation
of a country and beacon of hope for other men and women of the world. The Revolutionary War

Abstract Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) is a seven member board that consists of

standards quest is to govern the preparation of the corporate financial reports and hence ensuring

A Literary Analysis Of DпїЅsirпїЅe s Baby By Kate Chopin
A Literary Analysis of DГ©sirГ©e s Baby DГ©sirГ©e s Baby , a short story written by Kate
Chopin, delves straightaway into serious matters one such example is the racial and gender
injustices that occurred during the era of slavery. The plot follows the life of a young woman,
DГ©sirГ©e, from her mysterious and unknown origins to being the wife of a wealthy aristocrat.
Her life is suddenly shattered when she realizes that, to her horror, her son s features resemble the
ones of the race that is cursed with the brand of slavery. Chopin uses many literary devices
throughout her text, such as setting, symbolism, theme, and irony to illustrate to her readers how
inherent prejudices, be they of race or gender, negatively affect all factions involved in the
respective affair, rather than only those deemed inferior.
Firstly, Chopin establishes the setting in the southern state of Louisiana sometime before the Civil
War. This historical setting affects the thinking and beliefs of majority of the characters in the
short story. Armand no longer loved his wife simply because of the unconscious injury she had
brought upon his home and his name . That is, Armand did not care for his wife and child because
he believed and considered them to be an inferior race. The idea that he brought blacks into his
home and made them his family not only disgusted him, but brought him shame. Another aspect
that characterized the setting was the use of the word bayou , a common Louisiana word. In the end

Essay on Malcolm X
The 1950 s and 1960 s were a time of racial turmoil throughout most of the United States.
Segregation between blacks and whites was still in full effect, African Americans had to drink from
different water fountains, eat at different restaurants, and even shop at different stores than their
Anglo neighbors . Many people and organizations fought valiantly for equality in the U.S. such as
Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King jr. and the NAACP. The roles they played were critical in the civil
rights movement were critical, the actions they took included peaceful demonstrations and marches,
public speeches, and boycotts such as the one that took place in Montgomery, Alabama in 1955.
One man stands out among all of these leaders though, Malcolm X.... Show more content on

Not long after the killing Malcolm s mom would have a nervous breakdown and end up in a
mental institution, leaving her eight children scattered about in foster homes. Despite his
dismal upbringing, Malcolm was able to graduate from his junior high school at the top of his
class. He was aspiring to become a lawyer, but after one of his teachers told him that trying to be
one was, no realistic goal for a nigger , he decided that school was not for him and moved to
Boston for awhile and made a living working a number of jobs, none of which were permanent.
Eventually he would find himself working as a waiter at a restaurant called Small s Paradise in
Harlem, New York. It was at this time that Malcolm Little began using and then selling drugs and
even committing burglary. In 1946 he would be arrested for burglary and sentenced to ten years
in prison. It was during his stay at the Charlestown, Mass. Prison that he would make maybe the
most significant change of his life. Malcolm would begin studying the teachings of Elijah
Muhammad, the leader of a small cult like Islamic group that called themselves the Nation of
Islam, he also began to study the Koran (the Islamic holy book). It was during these long years in
prison that Malcolm was able to educate himself fully and came to the conclusion that he wanted to

Emily Dickinson s Poem Frequently The Woods Are Pink
The first stanza of Frequently the woods are pink means a lot of times the woods are full of
bright and bold colors, but frequently they re brown. When it says Frequently the hills undress I
think it means the hills become brown during the cold seasons, and the hills are right behind her
native town. Conclusion I think that this peom is using personification to tell the story. Emily
Dickinson is saying that the hills and forests can be dressed in many colors, but when it turns to
winter, it undresses . This poem has to do with cycles of change because it is talking about the
seasonal changes in life. Meaning I think the first stanza of this poem means that as children say
goodbye to there guests, or possibly the sun, they raise their

Ivan, Grand Prince Of Moscow
My research theme was about Ivan III Grand Prince of Moscow in this paper I will tell you
about Ivan and his childhood. I will also explain to you his greatest achievements and how he
was successful in the many battles he ordered to take place. In this paper I will also explain how
he became Ivan the Great and what people thought of him. Ivan Vasilievich, later known as Ivan
the Great, was born on January 22 1440 in Moscow, Russia. Ivan family consisted of two brothers
and his parents were Maria Yaroslavna and his father was Grand Prince Vasili II. Ivan father was
thought as a ruthless and cold person. When Grand Prince Vasili dies, he would break up his
kingdom in three, for his sons. As a result Ivan came to power during the time of the Great Civil
War. Ivan took the throne at 22 years of age. Long time after his two brothers passed, without
heirs. So Ivan inherited all of his father s land. The first few years that he took over people didn t
know what to think of him, so believed he would be like his father and others thought Ivan
wouldn t know what he was doing. However, his first missionary work was to get hold of the
Mongols land. These two kingdoms hated each other for the past few years, only these two
kingdoms would cross paths many times in the next few years. The biggest accomplishment was
to conquer the city state of Novgorod, which his army achieved. In getting this city, state Ivan s
army had to conceive of very good maneuvers. No one really knows Ivan s

A Company Is A Separate Legal Entity
The concept of a company being a separate legal entity is the most striking illustration in
separating the company from its owners. A paramount principle of corporate law is that no
shareholder or member of a company is made liable for the obligations incurred by such
incorporations A company is different from its members in the eyes of law. In continuations to
this the opposite also holds true in the sense that neither can the company be held liable for the
acts of its members. It is a fundamental distinction that a company is distinct from its members.
The words, corporate entity is not imaginary or fictitious but quite real, whereas corporate
personality is a fiction whose origin is to be found in the psychological tendency towards
personification gives an idea that the legal doctrine of corporate personality was built around the
idea of a sovereign grant of certain attributes of personality to a definable group, which was
engaged in an enterprise. When a company is incorporated it is treated as a separate legal entity
distinct from its promoters, directors, members, and employees, which confers the benefit of not
being responsible for the companies debt on the members on the company. However even though a
company is a separate legal entity and it attains the advantage of not laying the responsibility of

Kanye West 808 s And Heartbreak Interpretation
Kanye West s 808 s and Heartbreak (2008) was a very significant album in the hip hop industry
for many different reasons. The title of the album itself is significant because it is actually named
for a type of automatic drumming machine that is commonly used throughout the hip hop industry
today. It was created for rock bands that didn t have a drummer for monetary or other reasons, and
it was just easier than having a drummer, but was very unpopular at first because of its fake sound.
To many, the sounds it produced just wasn t the same in comparison to actual drum sets, which
caused it to fall off the scene. Kanye West, however, uses the machine to create distorted, unique
sounds instead of trying to get the sound of an authentic drum as... Show more content on

It actually discusses many of the same things as Paranoid (another song on the album) does, and
again shows Kanye as frustrated with his ex. Specifically, Kanye discusses how his ex, Alexis
Phifer, tried to control his life by making him her robot. He also talks about how she tried to dig up
things from his past and how this led to the end of their relationship. Examples of lyrics that display
this include Up late night like she on patrol, Checking everything like I m on parole, I told her there
s some things she don t need to know, She never let it go, oh. This track again features the 808
drum machine in the background along with string instruments and other electronically produced
sounds. The most interesting section of this song occurs from the three minute mark of the song
until the end. In this section Kanye strips the autotune, 808, and other electronically produced
sounds found throughout the rest of the album. Kanye continues to sing, but his voice has a much
more natural sound to it and he is only accompanied by string instruments. It s an interesting twist
from the rest of, not just this song, but the rest of 808s Heartbreak

The Dust Bowl Summary
The dust bowl was a nitty gritty nightmare that lasted about a decade. It took place in the drought
stricken region of the United States, midst the Great Depression era. This period in time is
generally considered as one of the hardest times in history. The dust bowl storms were often so
atrocious that people referred to them as Black Blizzards. Not only did the dust bowlmake things
tough for farmers, when the dust bowl swept up around 100 million acres of topsoil, but also for
the rest of middle, United States.1
During the dust bowl and great depression, around 13 15 million Americans were left unemployed.2

Bonnifield do research, he also interviewed people from the southern plains. With that, he was able
to write a book called, The Dust Bowl: Men, Dirt, and Depression.4 Bonnifield tells his readers:
Ultimately the story of the heartland of the dust bowl is the chronicle of hardworking, stouthearted
folks who withstood the onslaught of nature at its worst, while living through a devastating
depression and facing government idealism.5
The Dust Bowl: Men, Dirt, and Depression reveals the economical battle throughout the Great
Depression, as well as the dust bowl. Real people struggled to subsist the times of poverty and
extensive horticultural difficulties. Bonnifield states that agricultural hardship during the dust bowl
expedited due to several dry years. Farmers started a new method of farming known as dry land
farming which led to the major destruction of the Great Plains prairie grass. 6Ranchers also played
a big part in the dust bowl because of overgrazing. Eventually, the land was stripped down to dirt.7
Bonnifield uses these reasoning s as some of the main principles that led to severe Black

Why Was The Automobile Important In America
The Automobile played a big part in the way people go to place to place and it also played a part
in the economy and the rapid growth in the United States in the twentieth century. With the higher
incomes, it meant that people had money to spend on cars and goods. The inventing of the
automobile was the greatest thing people have come up with because know that is the only way
people get around these days.
People during this time mainly lived on farms and did not have a fast way to get into town. So
people started moving to the cities because more jobs were available and over all better lives. The
Automobile was so affordable in America that it started an industrial powerhouse. At first there was

The creation of the twentieth century. There also was a social rank the wealthy could only own

there was the higher incomes made the importance to people to have more money and spend it
on cars and goods during this time especially after the great depression people went from
basically broke to having some money to spend on stuff. Much thanks to cars there was a big
production of roads that were made over time and it also connects distant places and
communities. One of the very most known highways in the United States is Route 66 that
connects the Midwest and southern California. With cars in being in high demand business
started wanting products to be sent to other places. During the 1900 s when millions of people
left their home to live in the city in the United States also provided immigrants and other
minority groups jobs at assembly lines and other specialized jobs. In the 1920 s the U.S.
government became more involved with making the roads matter to connect t major cities.
Through 1939 1945 the U.S. government Sayed no production on cars because the U.S. was
focusing on the war needs. Company like General Motor Company s started working on

The charter school conflict exists because there are some people for it and some people against it.
According to, The Premier Online Debate Website, arguments of those of charter school is that it
allows individuals or groups with innovative educational ideas to put them into practice without
being controlled by local or state administration. These schools may have unconventional hours,
experiment with curricula, specialize in certain types of teaching or design programs tailored to a
particular audience or community. They believe that charter schools provide quality educationand
they allow teachers to try new teaching methods which allows students to develop under new
education styles because charter schools have less regulation. It can introduce the ingredient of a
measure of needed competition in the public schools. According to Sarah Cordes and Institute for
Education and Social Policy (IESP) New York University, charter school growth means that more
students have opportunities to attend charters and that more traditional public schools face
competition from charters in the local school marketplace . They may provide for more
accountability because schools that work will be rewarded and those that do not will be changed
or even closed.
However, the other side argues that charter schools do not outperform traditional public schools.
Charter schools may not be equally available to all students and

Analysis Of Flint And The Nation s Aging Pipeline...
Flint s and The Nation s Aging Pipeline Infrastructure
In the wake of Flint s water crisis it was realized that their aging pipeline infrastructure needed an
extreme update. Flint is not the only CIKR catastrophe caused by being too tightly coupled, almost
every community around the country has experienced some type of catastrophic infrastructure
failure that has led to a large scale service interruptions, significant property damage, and human
injury as a result of being tightly coupled (Van Leuven, 2011, pp.40). A lot of the nation s aging

The city officials were not very competent on the WWS. They believed that they could just save
money by switch over a few things without fully investing the time in actually understanding how
the WWS operates. Over a dozen lawsuits have been filed in local, state and Federal courts
involving Flint residents who were directly impacted by the lead contaminated waters. The
plaintiffs seek monetary compensations in the millions. One victim sought $100 million because
they obtained Legionnaires disease, which they believed that they received from the contaminated
water (Dixon, 2016). Others are suing an engineering company that was involved with the switching
process of the water from the Detroit water system to the Flint River. It is believed that the
engineering company knew that the water was dangerous without proper anti corroding agent
(Dixon, 2016). The remaining lawsuits seek everything else, which range from replacing the leaded
pipeline infrastructure, medical and health compensation due to contamination, and also water bills
(Dixon, 2016). The defendants ranged from state, local, and government officials including the
Governor Rick Snyder.
How to address the problem The first thing that needs to be done is to hire competent state officials
and emergency managers. The governor did not know the first thing about water nor did the people

LEEP And Why Is It Done
What is a LEEP and why is it done? A LEEP is done when you have an abnormal cervical cancer
screening result; it is one way of removing the abnormal cells from your cervix. Your
gynecologists dose this by using a thin wire that acts like a scalpel. Electric current is passed
through the loop, which cuts away a thin layer of the cervix. How is LEEP performed? The
procedure should be done when you are not on your period so that the doctor can have a better
view of your cervix. Most of the time LEEP is done in the doctor s office, this only takes a few
minutes so you should be in and out. To have the procedure done you will be lying on you back
with your legs in stirrups. Then the doctor will insert a speculum into your vagina in the same
way as for a pelvic exam. A local anesthesia will be used so you don t feel pain. This will be given
through a needle attached to a syringe. You are most likely going to feel a slight sting, then a
dull ache or cramp. Then the loop is inserted into your vagina to the cervix. There will be
different sizes and shapes of the loops that will be used. There is a small chance that you may feel
faint during the procedure. If you do feel faint tell your doctor immediately.... Show more content

new people. On the first day of school, i noticed all the older girls were wearing makeup and
tight stretchy pants that showed off their butts. I decided i wanted to be exactly like them. That
same day after school, i made my mom take me to Zona Rosa to go shopping. After shopping
around for a bit i stopped upon the perfect pair of leggings. The leggings were pink with blue

Delia, a washerwoman. Who marries a man named Sykes, In the first part, you can easily see that
he mistreats her. In the opening paragraph, he throws a snake like figure over Delia s shoulders.
She scolds him later for it. This image shown by Zora Neale Hurston is not coincidental. her
husband Sykes is being shown as a very commanding figure. Later on in the story. Her Husband

marrying one of the mistresses he has been seeing. As you continue on reading Sweat , Hurston

full of sexism. A society full of men exploiting and breaking down women... until the men have
gotten enough use out of them and they move on.
Delia has had to make an enormous amount of sacrifices just to provide for Sykes and herself,

Basketball Shoes Effect On Basketball Players Essay
Basketball Shoes Effect on Basketball Players

Participating in basketball begins with picking which basketball shoes to wear. The purpose of
a sports shoe is to improve performance or reduce the risk of injury (Fong, Hong Li, 2007).
While playing the game of basketball I ve realized it is a sport that involves different types of
shoes which help improve jumping, landing, cutting and much more. Basketball has its positives
and negatives for every age group; it has good health benefits, but it also consists of moderate to
high risk lower body injuries to the lower back, legs and ankles. There are different types of
basketball shoes which consist of high tops, mid tops, low cuts, cushioned shoes, non cushioned
shoes, and other different combinations. The high tops basketball shoe will have a collar that goes
above the ankle like a sleeve. The mid tops basketball shoe covers slightly above the ankle, but
lower than high tops. The low cut basketball shoes don t have a collar at all and they don t cover
the ankle. Shoes also vary by weight and outsole traction. Through my knowledge picking the
shoe to wear is solely on your preference. Whatever shoe that you choose will have different
advantages or disadvantages to them. The purpose of this literature review is to explore the variety
of effects specific shoe types have on basketball athletes.

Rowan Keyser The Interlopers In The Interlopers by Saki the theme search for self is shown

the two men make up, this ending the feud. When they first start talking to each other, you can
tell there s hate for one another. They both are talking angry and down to each other, they haven

Euthyphro s Definition Of Piety
According to Dr. Youngs lecture, piety is a term that refers to what it means to be good or holy in
the eyes of the gods. Within Plato s Euthyphro dialogue, Socrates is looking for a definition of
piety in order to better develop his knowledge as a philosopher. Euthyphro tries to give Socrates
several definitions of piety. Euthyphrogives five different definitions of piety, all of which I feel
were all subpar definitions. I will argue that Euthyphro does not give Socratesa satisfactory
definition of piety. I will argue this by pointing out several instances in the text in which Socrates
disputes Euthyphro s definitions and why I think he disputes them.
The first definition of piety Euthyphro gave Socrates was not even a true definition, ... Show more

Socrates said, ...where there is piety there is also justice, but where there is justice there is not
always piety, for the pious is a part of justice. Shall we say that, or do you think otherwise?
(Socrates, 15). Euthyphro agrees and then suggests that piety is simply taking care of the gods:
I think, Socrates, that the godly and pious is the part of the just that is concerned with the care
of the gods, while that concerned with the care of men is the remaining part of justice
(Euthyphro, 16). Socrates quickly rejects this on the basis that taking care of the Gods would be
concerned with making the Gods better . Socrates uses the example of caring for animals to
illustrate his point. He said, So dogs are benefitted by dog breeding, cattle by cattle raising, and
so with all the others. Or do you think that care aims to harm the object of its care? (Socrates,
17). Euthyphro objects and says that these acts aim to benefit these animals. So Socrates says, Is
piety then, which is the care of the gods, also to benefit the gods and make them better? Would
you agree that when you do something pious you make some of the gods better? (Socrates, 17).
Euthyphro claims that caring for the gods involves the kind of care that slaves take of their
masters (Euthyphro, 17). When questioned by Socrates as to exactly what is the definition of
piety using this logic, Euthyphro can only return back to his earlier claim: piety is what is loved
by all the gods. I say that is a man knows how to say and do what is pleasing to the gods at prayer
and sacrifice, those are pious actions such as preserve both private houses and public affairs of
state. The opposite of these pleasing actions are impious and overturn and destroy everything

these elements relate to the big Idea of having something or someone to hold onto can make you
stay focussed and not give up.
An important aspect of polanski is the use of aural elements such as diegetic and nondiegetic sound
of the piano playing which is a motif throughout the visual text as we see the same piece of music
being played either by Szpilman himself or as background music the song is played in the
beginning and also in the scene parallel to the scene where he encounters the german soldier. In
the encounter with housefield the lack of verbalization where the music is the factor which
determines Szpilman s fate. Because Szpilman had such a passion for music that he would hold

Similarities Between Chris Mccandless And Martin Luther
Rebels and outcasts are commonly compared due to them usually having several similarities. In
doing this you can find that two seemingly different people have quite a lot in common. This is
most certainly the case with Chris McCandless and Martin Luther. Although these two
nonconformists are different in numerous ways, they undoubtedly have their similarities. Even
though they were born hundreds of years apart Chris McCandless and Martin
Luther share several characteristics. Both McCandless and Luther left their families to pursue their
dreams. Both were originally going to attend law school but felt that their destiny was somewhere
else (History.com, Martin Luther and the 95 Theses ). Wanting to choose their own paths is a
common trait of many rebels. Another similarity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both took huge risks to do what they thought necessary.
Chris McCandless and Martin Luther have clear similarities, but unsurprisingly they have even
more differences. One of the bigger differences is that McCandless rebelled against society as a
whole, while Luther rebelled against certain teachings in the Catholic Church.
McCandless s rebellion was mostly for himselfНѕ he did not intend to start a movement. Luther had
bigger things in mind when he nailed a copy of The 95 Theses to the door of the Wittenberg
Castle church (History.com, Martin Luther and the 95 Theses ). Having started one of the most
Lee 2 influential movements in European history, Luther had a significantly greater effect on the
world around him. They also had contrasting views of possessions. McCandless placed little value
on material goods. This was clearly shown by his simplistic lifestyle. Luther, however, did feel that
there was value in possessions. This is shown in his anger for the Catholic Church wanting money
from its followers. The two have not only dissimilar, but also completely differing points of

Change In Society
A great leader once said, I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin,
but by the content of their character (Martin Luther King Jr.). As society continues to expand, the
tension between differences inflates even more, causing people to conceal their true self.
Although people are able to be who they desire to be, justice continues to be ignored towards
many groups of people all over the world. In order for people to protect themselves from the
judgement of society and fit into the social norm, many people will obscure their true identity,
affecting them in ways they never imagined.
One of the most common reasons that people hide their true identity is to avoid ridicule from the
community. Even though there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This act of denying their wrongs showed how changes in society could have happened, but since
social stigmas are strong, people obscured themselves. Another example of people hiding
themselves from the tension of change can be seen in the book To Kill a Mockingbird by
Harper Lee. Dolphus Raymond, a wealthy white man who lives with his black mistress and
mulatto children, portrays a type of person who uses a different personality to mask himself.
While talking to Scout, Dill, and Jem, Dolphus says, It ain t honest, but it s mighty helpful to
folks. Secretly, Miss. Finch, I m not much of a drinker, but you see, they could never, never
understand that I live like I do because that s the way I want to live (Lee 268). Pretending to be
something else in a world that is judgmental is not hard for many people and it can or cannot
affect the person. In this case, Dolphus does not mind hiding his true self because of the thoughts
people would have towards him. After Scout questions him on why he would cry if he were
younger, he replies, Cry about the simple hell people give other people without even thinking. Cry
about the hell white people give colored people, without even stopping to think they re people
too (Lee 269). Although it is ironic that Dolphus, a drunk minded person, would care about such
a serious topic since he is not any different than people in society. Many individuals are very
aware and hesitant of the judgement that could occur if they changed their morale or way of life;
in turn prohibiting the chance for changes in society. While To Kill a Mockingbird is set in the
1930s, there is still racism happening today. For example, gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender
people really struggle. A young male living in Charlotte, North Carolina, named Brandon, identifies
as bisexual

The First Restoration Continues
During 1963 and 1964 summers, restoration work continued at the island. Dad hired Ronald
Shutler and Jon Short to work on the house in 1963. Jon only worked for us that one summer
whereas Ronald assumed caretaker duties through 1967 when he returned to farming. Ronald had
grown up on a farm in nearby Hammond, and like many young men who grew up on farms, he
was a tireless worker who possessed the desirable trait of staying on task.
I have a photograph showing Ron and Jon painting the front steps while a pair of neighbors and
my sisters are painting the lattice. I recognized the date of this painting party as August 17, 1963.
Dad makes reference to this event in his diary. It was the same day Dad and Mom s hosted their

Ron and Jon came to work while I was at summer school near Lake Chocorua, New Hampshire. I

Roosevelt was born October 27, 1858 in New York City to Theodore Roosevelt Sr. and Martha

issues, which started at birth, Roosevelt was homeschooled along with his siblings. The family
house also had a gymnasium where he lifted weights and boxed to help him gain strength.
Despite what appeared to be a sickly and weak child, Roosevelt went on to accomplish many great
things scholastically, physically and politically. He graduated from Harvard University, published

They were the first American troops ever sent overseas, arriving at the southeastern end of Cuba
on June 22, 1898. Roosevelt would go on to lead the group to victory, but sadly many soldiers
would die due to yellow fever, lack of food and supplies and unsanitary camps. Roosevelt would
be remembered for the Round Robin letter he sent asking for the U.S. troops to be removed
from Cuba. After the soldiers were brought home, Americans called Roosevelt a national hero
for bringing them home safely.2 Roosevelt would be called a war hero and receive a nomination
for the Medal of Honor. He was elected as governor of New York in 1898.1 The Republican
political machine in New York supported Roosevelt for governor. However, once he was elected
governor, it was clear to them that he had no interest in listening to their ideas or following their
ways. This would lead Roosevelt into becoming the running mate for McKinley in the
presidential election, in hopes of preventing a second governor term for the once loved war hero.
McKinley would go on to win the election and Roosevelt would become the Vice President, but
this was short lived. On September 6, 1901 McKinley was tragically shot and killed. Roosevelt
would now become the 26th president and the youngest president in the nation s history at age 42.

We have developed a lot of new technology to all us to do fairly accurate carbon dating; that alone
has changed previously established theories. There is so much about our planet that we do not

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Survey Research
10)Survey research Survey research is the most frequently used mode of observation in social
science research which entails asking people questions for research purposes (Maxfield et al.,
2015, Chpt. 7). There are specific guidelines to follow when conducting a survey in order to get
accurate measurements. It is important to make sure all of the questions are exhaustive and
mutually exclusive meaning that there is an answer for every respondent and that each answer is
a different answer. When conducting a survey, you do not want a respondent having 0 and 0 5 as
potential answers because 0 is included in more than one answer leaving room for confusion and
inaccurate results. There are many different types of surveys that can be given: self reported
surveys, self administered surveys, computer based surveys, in person surveys, telephone surveys,
etc. When conducting a survey, it helps to have a target population you are trying to reach, a
specific goal you are trying to understand, and a reason why there is a need for the research.
Strengths to survey research are their ability to describe characteristics of a large population.
Surveys are more cost effective than some other methods. A weakness of survey research is how
standardized it must be in the sense that everyone is asked the exact same questionleaving little
room for going into detail which in turn misses part of the topic. Another weakness to survey
research is the obstacles when trying to contact the target

The majority of styles seen in Hip Hop today originated from cities in the United States which

Relationship Between Divorce As A Private Problem And How...
A phrase coined by C. Wright Mills, exercising one s Sociological Imagination means to observe
the well defined link between personal problems and public issues in society. While the
sociological imagination can be applied to a multitude of factors, the focus of this paper is to
outline the relationship between divorceas a private problem and how it is reflected into the public
sphere. According to the National Health Statistics Report, nearly half of all first marriages end
in divorce (Casey et al. 2012). As this rate has drastically increased since the mid 20th century,
divorce has begun to create many setbacks for society in terms of the economy, crimes rates,
mental health capacity, and academic achievements. While initially divorce was seen as an issue
for families individually, society as a whole is increasingly subject to facing the repercussions. In
an economic standpoint, divorce has caused thousands of people to sink into poverty stricken
lifestyles. Typically, women are left in worse shape as they are usually given primary custody of
their children and are left to support a household without adequate financial support from the
fathers (Espenshade 1979). As more families are falling into poverty, the dependence on federal
aid, such as the Aid to Families with Dependent Children, increases. In the year 2000, of the 50
percent of divorced families that reached poverty, 40 percent depended on AFDC. In conclusion, as
divorce rates rise, more government

Argumentative Essay On Public Health
Public health institutions have developed strategies to improve children s life. They focused in
three main points the need to focus on the environment that makes children sick rather than on sick
children; the need to attack the biggest problems, not the most scientifically interesting ones; and
the need to provide services where children are most likely to be (Howard, Golden, 2017). They
agree that children s problems are environmental reactions as it was in the past. Therefore, the
history plays a big role in policy discussions. In 1900, the child welfare movement made an impact
in public healthas well as in children health care. Public health helped to catch infectious diseases
and many other family conditions (Howard, Golden, 2017).
Accordingly, the government established a national public health infrastructure. Indeed, hospitals,
medical schools and research laboratories creation made a difference in children s health. In fact,

An analysis on how Ishiguro alludes to underlying circumstances at Hailsham in Never Let Me
Go For a significant part of the novel Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro, the real function of
Hailsham remains a mystery. However, Ishiguro does leave clues into solving this mystery. He
does this by providing both an immediate and gradual realization that something is not quite right.
This realization is conveyed through the use of choice words and unusual environments. Ishiguro
provides few details, and the ones he does provide lack any real meaning. This promotes reading
in between the lines and forming personal conclusions. But with a keen eye, it is possible analyze
specific details left by Ishiguro that help allude to Hailsham s real purpose.... Show more content on

An impeccable example of how reading in between the lines is key appears when Kathy tells us
about how one of her donors wanted to hear about Hailsham. In this section, Kathy makes the
realization that her donor did not necessarily want to just hear about Hailsham, but rather he
wanted to remember Hailsham. Kathy felt that her donor wanted to feel as if he had lived
through Hailsham, himself. This section makes the reader ask themselves why would Kathy s
donor want to remember Hailsham. By reading in between the lines of this section we can
gather that Hailsham was probably better than wherever Kathy s donor was to prior of being in
her care. Maybe Kathy s donor had a poor and unfulfilling life. Maybe he feels that because Kathy
is from Hailsham, she would have had a good life. From reading in between the lines we can gather
that Kathy s donor had an awful life and wanted to feel as if he had been a part of Hailsham. This
connection is important because it helps the reader determine that Hailsham was special without
being told that directly. Additionally, this section further complicates the mystery around Hailsham.
Ishiguro achieves this by making the reader ask questions similar to what makes Hailsham so
special anyway? . Maybe this donor was mistreated, abused, or even just outright neglected. and that
does not happen at Hailsham. Something

The Educational Software as a Motivational Tool in English...
INTRODUCTION The educational software as a motivational tool in English Language Teaching.
Time has gone by and the teaching of foreign languages has developed, specially in English
Language Teaching. Among the most significant advances one may find: the determination of the
professors of trusting on their own resources, the right to choose their cross point between the
theory and the practice and to look for pedagogical solutions to the problems. One issue that is still
subject of discussion is that of motivation. English has become an indispensable instrument of
communication in the entire world, taking place a proliferation of methods and teaching texts; from
the one designed in 1580 called The English Schoolmaster to teach to the... Show more content on

It can be applied by means of didactic machines, but also by means of books, records and even
oral communication. It is a technical device, apart from the Educational Technology that exposes
the norms or techniques for the application of didactic programs. This essay presents an analysis of
the possibilities of the use of educational software as a motivational tool as well as discuss its
advantages and disadvantages in the teaching of English. DISCUSSION It could be argued that
with the use of technology the role of the teacher is reduced to the elaboration of the program while
the student acquires a predominant role, since he self instructs, self programs and receives an
individualized learning in agreement with his/her rhythm of assimilation (Vygotsky, 1987), (Wood,
1996). Although this non collaborative, in some cases, character may look not beneficial, this
teaching type has its advantages and, consequently, its disadvantages. Regarding the advantages of
the use of technology, it could be said that provides a constant activation and motivation to the
students (Davis, 1992), provides a safe ground for individual work as well as a collaborative
environment, instant feedback, depending on the tool, about the results of the learning and in
countries with economic difficulties it could eventually contribute to satisfy an educational need in
some contexts, that is, provide instruction to a large mass of students. Technology, as a human

Speech On Turning The Other Cheek
In this world people are faced with the most difficult decision of doing the right thing even when
it could mean being hurt again and again. Teachers, mentors, pastors, and psychologist have
studied the topic of turning the other cheek . Is it right to offer forgiveness to a situation even if
the situation is not solved properly? The debate goes on and on but, the one thing people should
realize is that even if the situation is looking bad their is always some goodthat can come out of it.
A scholar by the name of Kent M.Keith once wrote , People really needhelp but may attack you if
you do help them.Help people anyway.Give the world the best you have and you ll get kicked in
the teeth.Give the world the best you have anyway. While analyzing this quote further, I have found
that in any bad situation there still is room for improvement by implementing a sense of kindness
and compassion for the situation at hand.
For example, I work at a home improvement store called The Home Depot. In Home Depot you are
sure to find a good day and a bad day. Customers come to The Home Depot looking for an item as
well as good customer service. As being a cashier, my first priority is to make sure that every
customer is properly taken care of on their way into the building and when you re leaving out the
building. If the customer doesn t feel like they re being taken care of it can get very disappointing
very quickly. While at work I try and stay as positive as I can so that each

Prosthetic Arm Rehabilitation
Using Arm Prosthetics to Aid Patient Rehabilitation in Occupational Therapy
Megan Rafferty, Drew Petersen
Patients with amputations face large restrictions on their daily activities and functioning due to
some of the problems that they encounter with the block prosthetic limbs available. Part of the
reason for this restriction is that body powered prostheses lack the ability to function at more than
one degree of freedom at a given time. Despite only being able to successfully perform the particular
motion in a given plane of movement, the restrictions can be frustrating and also prevents the
prosthetic arm from maximizing its potential. A recent surgical technique, targeted muscle
reinnervation (TMR), transfers residual arm ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This allows the patient to develop sufficient endurance required to proceed with TMR myoelectric
prosthetic training. As a result of the redirected pathways from the brain to the host muscle, the OT
must have in depth knowledge of peripheral nerve distribution in order to perform the appropriate
strengthening exercises. In addition, the therapist must know the details of the surgery and the
possible effects for every patient since each case is unique. An occupational therapist s knowledge
of TMR is also advantageous for a myriad of patients who are physically active, due to the
commonality of shoulder dislocations. Patients with prosthetics have an increased number of EMG
signals, which result from more intuitive, controlled upper body movements with less effort[p1] .
Additionally, these developed prosthetic movements are more efficient and fluid without the
necessity of switching between degrees of freedom. Patients with TMR demonstrate increased
performance in comparison to conventional myoelectric control (Stubblefield, 2009). For example,
TMR patients were 50 percent faster in a clothespin moving test and improved in the Assessment of
Motor and Process Skills. Due to the twofold effects of surgical and postoperative therapy intricacy,
TMR provides the opportunity for clinical skill enhancement through the guidance of occupational
therapists and thus

Family Systems Theory Analysis
Family Theories
As an Advanced Practice Nurse there will usually be a certain course of action that takes place
when a patient comes in and describes a problem they are having physically, but there are many
different ways in which that patient will take that course of action. This paper will discuss two
different theories, the Social Learning theory and the Family Systems theory, with the intent that the
person may change the way they look at the prescribed action and why.
The Social Learning theory was created by Albert Bandura in 1971 and is an effective way to
engage all types of different people and help them to acclimate to the learning environment
(Williams, 2017). The social learning theory uses modeling as the focal point of the theory.... Show

Another weakness is that the social learning theory doesn t take into account that what one person
may perceive as a punishment, another may see as a reward.
The Family Systems theory is the second theory that I will be discussing. The Family Systems
theory created by Dr.Murray Bowen and Dr. Michael Kerr and states that the family is an emotional
unit and that the members of the family are connected emotionally (Haefner, 2014). In the Family
systems theory there are eight concepts that the author uses: triangles, differentiation of s elf,
nuclear family emotional process, family projection process, multigenerational transmission
process, emotional cutoff, sibling position and societal emotional process (Kerr, Bowen, 1988).
Within these eight concepts are different ways in which the family operates emotionally within the
unit. When the family is cohesive and cooperative the unit is secure, but when tension mounds, this
can lead to problems and the emotional connectedness of the family becomes stressed (Kerr,
Bowen, 1988). The eight concepts in the Family systems theory can either be separate or
interlocking depending on the heightened tension and situation. Some common examples of the
concepts interlocking include: depression, alcoholism, affairs, or physical illness (Kerr, Bowen,

Public Health Of Public Healthcare
Public Health
Public health is an important subject in the curriculum of medical, nursing, and allied health
science schools. It is a separate course in the curriculum of some of the chiropractic colleges. The
instruction hours of public health course are different among the chiropractic colleges. The Public
Health instruction contact hour is 36 to 48 hours and 2 3 credit hours course in all other Chiropractic
Colleges except at Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida (12 hours only). Public health is a vital
course in any health professional school. Every year, new diseases and new preventive strategies
are added in our knowledge bases. There are gross disparities in the credit hours, contact hours, and
total hours of instruction among the Chiropractic Colleges. The opinion of leading Chiropractor
Instructors regarding the importance of Public Health in the Chiropractic Curriculum is also
dissimilar. Although vaccination is a highly effective method to control infectious disease, most of
the chiropractic student is not well informed of this matter. Many chiropractic students and
practicing chiropractors oppose the idea of mass vaccination. The chiropractic philosophy put
emphasis in the spinal nerve compression by misplaced vertebrae instead of microbial etiology of
diseases. Many chiropractic student think vaccination is harmful and causes autism and Guillain
Barre syndrome. Many other s oppose to add fluoride in the drinking water and think fluoride
damages the brain..

Alfred J Prufrock
The Love Song of Alfred J. Prufrock by T. S. Eliot is an excellent short poem about a man
reflecting back on his life and realizing that he is alone and might possibly die alone. Eliot uses a
variety of symbols, metaphors, and great diction to convey that Prufrock is unsatisfied with his
life, especially his love life. Eliot depicts Prufrock as an older man reflecting back on his life,
metaphorically, going through a midlife crisis. I grow old... I grow old.../I shall wear the
bottoms of my trousers rolled, by this Eliot is getting the reader to visualize as a person grows
older, they grow shorter (120 121). Along with growing shorter Eliot also describes the
significant balding of an old man With a bald spot in the middle of my hair / (they will say: How
his hair is growing thin! ) (40 41). These two lines alone are showing that Prufrock is very
insecure and self conscious with how he looks. Prufrock even goes as far as asking himself,
Shall I part my hair behind? (122) Eliot is trying to show the reader that Prufrock wants to look
his best for the intelligent ladies by wearing My morning coat, my collar mounting firmly to the
chin,/My necktie rich and modest, but asserted by a simple pin and combing what hair he does
have over his balding scalp (42 43). He is dressing to impress the women that come and go/Talking
of Michelangelo, the intelligent ladies that he believes will judge him harshly, not the prostitutes
that love his company (35 36). Looking back

The Root Of Beyond Petroleum
The Root of Beyond Petroleum s Issues in the face of Environmental Disasters, (Mis)
Management and their Public Image. Drilling for oil is risky business and what makes it
worthwhile is the payoff. To put it simply fossil fuels, oil and its distillates remain to be the
lifeblood flowing through the veins of a highly industrialized and demanding modern industry.
Transportation, Power Generation, Manufacturing, Motorsport, our very lives depend on oil.
Arguments can be made that the most recent disasters to befall this oil giant could have
happened to any other oil company however among the far reaching consequences of these
disasters is the scrutiny that BP now finds itself under. This intense focus continues to reveal that
these accidents could have been prevented, and more importantly better mitigated if BP had
simply followed respected best practices for managing a crisis and for managing period. BP s
apparent culture of deceit and arrogance perpetuated by executive actions resulted in negligence
across the board, added to that BP s missteps in handling especially their most recent and most
deadly incident and we have mounting evidence that points to more than just bad luck being
involved. On April 10th 2010 the Deepwater Horizon oil rig off the coast of Louisiana exploded,
killing 11, injuring 17 and spewing in excess of 3 million barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico.
This is only the most recent incident in BP s operating history, 4 years prior a corroded pipe

Hero Worship
Hero worship never died and never will (Carlyle, 208).The dreams of becoming a superhero, the
desire for success, and the worship of heroic figures are deeply rooted in our hearts. My feelings
about heroes are always triggered by the most pervasive form of modern art films. Every time I
watch a heroic film, I feel deeply moved by the strong personalities of the hero. In different films,
he can either be a cowboy riding a horse, a warrior who fights for the independence of a country, a
policeman who strikes the criminals or a successful man who makes a great contribution in a
certain field. And right now, when writing this essay, the first heroic figure coming up on my mind
is Rancho in the Bollywood film 3 idiots. Rancho s strong... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Last but not least, I refer to Rancho as a hero because he has profound influences on his friends
and people around him, and he is always ready to sacrifice for them. As Browne (1990)
demonstrates in his article, yet the ultimate and final unselfish act is, of course, death in the
service of others. Putting another way, Browne here suggests that heroes are always ready to
help others and the noblest heroic act is to sacrifice one s life for others. In the movie, Rancho
always considers his friends happiness before his. He has tried every possible way to persuade
his friend Farhan and Raju to chase their own dreams instead of living under the shadow of their
families. Though this is not an easy task, Rancho has made this possible by sacrificing his own
happiness been expelled from the college. Though Rancho s sacrifice is not as big as the noblest
one , he did have tried whatever he can to make his friends a better life, which makes him
undoubtedly the hero of his friends. In conclusion, although there are several reasons why I refer
Rancho as hero in my

  • 2. John Keats Isabella Essay John Keats Isabella Love is everywhere, and, even though love is not tangible, people refuse to believe that it exists. Perhaps their belief in love is what creates love, or perhaps it is the other way around. The greatest love is found when one least expects it as well as in people one least expects to find it in. Such an occurrence takes place in Isabella by John Keats. In this poem, two young people, Isabella and Lorenzo, fall in love, only to find that the sweetest and deadliest love is the love hidden away from the prying eyes. Like every marketed love story out there, the poem starts off with two souls who secretly admire each other, yet are too afraid to admit it. In a society that at that time would quite possibly think ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (5 8) The two although so driven by emotions for each other, are calmed by the fact that they are in each other s presence, for if they were not, they would be thinking of each other. This is also shown by line 8 that displays their constant presence in each other s minds, even during sleep. They sleep only to wake up weeping in longing for each other. The poem continues by narrating how the love of Isabel and Lorenzo, with each day, renews and becomes stronger. They both seem to find each other in mundane things. Her lute string gave an echo of his name (190) is one example of this. The love of the two has drenched every action and every thing in it and almost turned into an obsession. His love for Isabella has led Lorenzo into hearing and seeing Isabella even before she enters the room or is even in the same environment with him. These lines best express this growing obsession: He knew whose gentle hand was at the latch Before the door had given her to his eyes; And from her chamber window he would catch Her beauty farther than the falcon spies; (17 20) Seeing Isabella from Lorenzo s point of view, one can truly witness the love that has possessed him, for he believes that he can sense her and see her farther away than a falcon with acute vision. Lorenzo is so blinded by love that nothing Isabella does and in her case nothing Lorenzo does, can be wrong or not magical. At one point in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It all began in May 20,1774. The British Parliament passed a law that stated Authorized the governor of Massachusetts to move the trials of royal officials accused of committing capital offenses, while performing their natural duties, to another colony or Great Britain, if he believed he would not find a fair trial in Massachusetts. (American History Central). This happened after the Boston Tea Party so the colonial people and the British had very negative feeling toward each other. (U.S Constitution online) This act played a key role in the rising of rebellious colonists but the other acts went hand in hand to help punish the people of the 13 colonies. These acts were: the Boston Port Act, the Massachusetts Government Act, the Quartering Act and the Quebec Act. The group responsible for taking in these so called criminals, at least in the eyes of the British, was the Kings or Queens Bench. This act, when enforced by Thomas Gage, was extremely unfair and unjust. This caused the colonist to take matters into there own hands after the trial of those solders at the Boston Massacre. Because of its unfairness the colonist took a liking to calling it the Murder Act (United States History.) The colonist fought against this act and the many more unfair and unjust acts and laws put in by parliament by starting a war. This war would lead to the foundation of a country and beacon of hope for other men and women of the world. The Revolutionary War ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. A Literary Analysis Of DпїЅsirпїЅe s Baby By Kate Chopin A Literary Analysis of DГ©sirГ©e s Baby DГ©sirГ©e s Baby , a short story written by Kate Chopin, delves straightaway into serious matters one such example is the racial and gender injustices that occurred during the era of slavery. The plot follows the life of a young woman, DГ©sirГ©e, from her mysterious and unknown origins to being the wife of a wealthy aristocrat. Her life is suddenly shattered when she realizes that, to her horror, her son s features resemble the ones of the race that is cursed with the brand of slavery. Chopin uses many literary devices throughout her text, such as setting, symbolism, theme, and irony to illustrate to her readers how inherent prejudices, be they of race or gender, negatively affect all factions involved in the respective affair, rather than only those deemed inferior. Firstly, Chopin establishes the setting in the southern state of Louisiana sometime before the Civil War. This historical setting affects the thinking and beliefs of majority of the characters in the short story. Armand no longer loved his wife simply because of the unconscious injury she had brought upon his home and his name . That is, Armand did not care for his wife and child because he believed and considered them to be an inferior race. The idea that he brought blacks into his home and made them his family not only disgusted him, but brought him shame. Another aspect that characterized the setting was the use of the word bayou , a common Louisiana word. In the end ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Segregation between blacks and whites was still in full effect, African Americans had to drink from different water fountains, eat at different restaurants, and even shop at different stores than their Anglo neighbors . Many people and organizations fought valiantly for equality in the U.S. such as Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King jr. and the NAACP. The roles they played were critical in the civil rights movement were critical, the actions they took included peaceful demonstrations and marches, public speeches, and boycotts such as the one that took place in Montgomery, Alabama in 1955. Emily Dickinson s Poem Frequently The Woods Are Pink The first stanza of Frequently the woods are pink means a lot of times the woods are full of bright and bold colors, but frequently they re brown. A paramount principle of corporate law is that no shareholder or member of a company is made liable for the obligations incurred by such incorporations A company is different from its members in the eyes of law. In continuations to this the opposite also holds true in the sense that neither can the company be held liable for the acts of its members. • 10. Kanye West 808 s And Heartbreak Interpretation Kanye West s 808 s and Heartbreak (2008) was a very significant album in the hip hop industry for many different reasons. The title of the album itself is significant because it is actually named for a type of automatic drumming machine that is commonly used throughout the hip hop industry today. It was created for rock bands that didn t have a drummer for monetary or other reasons, and it was just easier than having a drummer, but was very unpopular at first because of its fake sound. To many, the sounds it produced just wasn t the same in comparison to actual drum sets, which caused it to fall off the scene. This track again features the 808 drum machine in the background along with string instruments and other electronically produced sounds. The most interesting section of this song occurs from the three minute mark of the song until the end. In this section Kanye strips the autotune, 808, and other electronically produced sounds found throughout the rest of the album. Farmers started a new method of farming known as dry land farming which led to the major destruction of the Great Plains prairie grass. 6Ranchers also played a big part in the dust bowl because of overgrazing. • 19. LEEP And Why Is It Done What is a LEEP and why is it done? A LEEP is done when you have an abnormal cervical cancer screening result; it is one way of removing the abnormal cells from your cervix. Your gynecologists dose this by using a thin wire that acts like a scalpel. Electric current is passed through the loop, which cuts away a thin layer of the cervix. How is LEEP performed? The procedure should be done when you are not on your period so that the doctor can have a better view of your cervix. Most of the time LEEP is done in the doctor s office, this only takes a few minutes so you should be in and out. To have the procedure done you will be lying on you back with your legs in stirrups. Maybe you felt as if you didn t belong in the place you were at? This is how Dinaw Mengestu describes how he felt in his short story, Home at Last. Dinaw talks about when he discovered these feelings and what it was like. A time where i can relate to Dinaw Mengestu s story is in the 6th grade. It was the middle of August, and my first day at Smithville Middle School. I was finally one of the Big Kids. I wanted to start my middle school years off great and fit in with all the intimidating 7th and 8th graders. What you wear is a big part of fitting in with new people. On the first day of school, i noticed all the older girls were wearing makeup and tight stretchy pants that showed off their butts. I decided i wanted to be exactly like them. That same day after school, i made my mom take me to Zona Rosa to go shopping. After shopping around for a bit i stopped upon the perfect pair of leggings. The leggings were pink with blue spots and white stars everywhere. I begged my mom for the leggings and told her i would die without them. In the end she finally took them up to the register. • 25. Euthyphro s Definition Of Piety According to Dr. Youngs lecture, piety is a term that refers to what it means to be good or holy in the eyes of the gods. Within Plato s Euthyphro dialogue, Socrates is looking for a definition of piety in order to better develop his knowledge as a philosopher. Euthyphro tries to give Socrates several definitions of piety. Euthyphrogives five different definitions of piety, all of which I feel were all subpar definitions. I will argue that Euthyphro does not give Socratesa satisfactory definition of piety. I will argue this by pointing out several instances in the text in which Socrates disputes Euthyphro s definitions and why I think he disputes them. The first definition of piety Euthyphro gave Socrates was not even a true definition, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Socrates said, ...where there is piety there is also justice, but where there is justice there is not always piety, for the pious is a part of justice. Shall we say that, or do you think otherwise? (Socrates, 15). Euthyphro agrees and then suggests that piety is simply taking care of the gods: I think, Socrates, that the godly and pious is the part of the just that is concerned with the care of the gods, while that concerned with the care of men is the remaining part of justice (Euthyphro, 16). Socrates quickly rejects this on the basis that taking care of the Gods would be concerned with making the Gods better . Socrates uses the example of caring for animals to illustrate his point. He said, So dogs are benefitted by dog breeding, cattle by cattle raising, and so with all the others. Or do you think that care aims to harm the object of its care? (Socrates, 17). Euthyphro objects and says that these acts aim to benefit these animals. So Socrates says, Is piety then, which is the care of the gods, also to benefit the gods and make them better? Would you agree that when you do something pious you make some of the gods better? (Socrates, 17). Euthyphro claims that caring for the gods involves the kind of care that slaves take of their masters (Euthyphro, 17). When questioned by Socrates as to exactly what is the definition of piety using this logic, Euthyphro can only return back to his earlier claim: piety is what is loved by all the gods. I say that is a man knows how to say and do what is pleasing to the gods at prayer and sacrifice, those are pious actions such as preserve both private houses and public affairs of state. The opposite of these pleasing actions are impious and overturn and destroy everything (Euthyphro, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As society continues to expand, the tension between differences inflates even more, causing people to conceal their true self. Although people are able to be who they desire to be, justice continues to be ignored towards many groups of people all over the world. This act of denying their wrongs showed how changes in society could have happened, but since social stigmas are strong, people obscured themselves. Another example of people hiding themselves from the tension of change can be seen in the book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Dolphus Raymond, a wealthy white man who lives with his black mistress and mulatto children, portrays a type of person who uses a different personality to mask himself. While talking to Scout, Dill, and Jem, Dolphus says, It ain t honest, but it s mighty helpful to folks. Secretly, Miss. Finch, I m not much of a drinker, but you see, they could never, never understand that I live like I do because that s the way I want to live (Lee 268). Pretending to be something else in a world that is judgmental is not hard for many people and it can or cannot affect the person. In this case, Dolphus does not mind hiding his true self because of the thoughts people would have towards him. After Scout questions him on why he would cry if he were younger, he replies, Cry about the simple hell people give other people without even thinking. Cry about the hell white people give colored people, without even stopping to think they re people too (Lee 269). Although it is ironic that Dolphus, a drunk minded person, would care about such a serious topic since he is not any different than people in society. Many individuals are very aware and hesitant of the judgement that could occur if they changed their morale or way of life; in turn prohibiting the chance for changes in society. Strengths And Weaknesses Of Survey Research 10)Survey research Survey research is the most frequently used mode of observation in social science research which entails asking people questions for research purposes (Maxfield et al., 2015, Chpt. 7). There are specific guidelines to follow when conducting a survey in order to get accurate measurements. It is important to make sure all of the questions are exhaustive and mutually exclusive meaning that there is an answer for every respondent and that each answer is a different answer. When conducting a survey, you do not want a respondent having 0 and 0 5 as potential answers because 0 is included in more than one answer leaving room for confusion and inaccurate results. There are many different types of surveys that can be given: self reported surveys, self administered surveys, computer based surveys, in person surveys, telephone surveys, etc. When conducting a survey, it helps to have a target population you are trying to reach, a specific goal you are trying to understand, and a reason why there is a need for the research. Strengths to survey research are their ability to describe characteristics of a large population. Surveys are more cost effective than some other methods. While the sociological imagination can be applied to a multitude of factors, the focus of this paper is to outline the relationship between divorceas a private problem and how it is reflected into the public sphere. According to the National Health Statistics Report, nearly half of all first marriages end in divorce (Casey et al. 2012). As this rate has drastically increased since the mid 20th century, divorce has begun to create many setbacks for society in terms of the economy, crimes rates, mental health capacity, and academic achievements. While initially divorce was seen as an issue for families individually, society as a whole is increasingly subject to facing the repercussions. In an economic standpoint, divorce has caused thousands of people to sink into poverty stricken lifestyles. Typically, women are left in worse shape as they are usually given primary custody of their children and are left to support a household without adequate financial support from the fathers (Espenshade 1979). As more families are falling into poverty, the dependence on federal aid, such as the Aid to Families with Dependent Children, increases. • 40. Ishiguro Allusion An analysis on how Ishiguro alludes to underlying circumstances at Hailsham in Never Let Me Go For a significant part of the novel Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro, the real function of Hailsham remains a mystery. However, Ishiguro does leave clues into solving this mystery. He does this by providing both an immediate and gradual realization that something is not quite right. This realization is conveyed through the use of choice words and unusual environments. Ishiguro provides few details, and the ones he does provide lack any real meaning. This promotes reading in between the lines and forming personal conclusions. But with a keen eye, it is possible analyze specific details left by Ishiguro that help allude to Hailsham s real purpose.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An impeccable example of how reading in between the lines is key appears when Kathy tells us about how one of her donors wanted to hear about Hailsham. In this section, Kathy makes the realization that her donor did not necessarily want to just hear about Hailsham, but rather he wanted to remember Hailsham. Kathy felt that her donor wanted to feel as if he had lived through Hailsham, himself. This section makes the reader ask themselves why would Kathy s donor want to remember Hailsham. By reading in between the lines of this section we can gather that Hailsham was probably better than wherever Kathy s donor was to prior of being in her care. Maybe Kathy s donor had a poor and unfulfilling life. Maybe he feels that because Kathy is from Hailsham, she would have had a good life. From reading in between the lines we can gather that Kathy s donor had an awful life and wanted to feel as if he had been a part of Hailsham. This connection is important because it helps the reader determine that Hailsham was special without being told that directly. Additionally, this section further complicates the mystery around Hailsham. Ishiguro achieves this by making the reader ask questions similar to what makes Hailsham so special anyway? . Maybe this donor was mistreated, abused, or even just outright neglected. and that does not happen at Hailsham. Something ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The Educational Software as a Motivational Tool in English... INTRODUCTION The educational software as a motivational tool in English Language Teaching. Time has gone by and the teaching of foreign languages has developed, specially in English Language Teaching. Among the most significant advances one may find: the determination of the professors of trusting on their own resources, the right to choose their cross point between the theory and the practice and to look for pedagogical solutions to the problems. One issue that is still subject of discussion is that of motivation. English has become an indispensable instrument of communication in the entire world, taking place a proliferation of methods and teaching texts; from the one designed in 1580 called The English Schoolmaster to teach to the... It is a technical device, apart from the Educational Technology that exposes the norms or techniques for the application of didactic programs. This essay presents an analysis of the possibilities of the use of educational software as a motivational tool as well as discuss its advantages and disadvantages in the teaching of English. DISCUSSION It could be argued that with the use of technology the role of the teacher is reduced to the elaboration of the program while the student acquires a predominant role, since he self instructs, self programs and receives an individualized learning in agreement with his/her rhythm of assimilation (Vygotsky, 1987), (Wood, 1996). Although this non collaborative, in some cases, character may look not beneficial, this teaching type has its advantages and, consequently, its disadvantages. Regarding the advantages of the use of technology, it could be said that provides a constant activation and motivation to the students (Davis, 1992), provides a safe ground for individual work as well as a collaborative environment, instant feedback, depending on the tool, about the results of the learning and in countries with economic difficulties it could eventually contribute to satisfy an educational need in some contexts, that is, provide instruction to a large mass of students. • 42. Speech On Turning The Other Cheek In this world people are faced with the most difficult decision of doing the right thing even when it could mean being hurt again and again. Teachers, mentors, pastors, and psychologist have studied the topic of turning the other cheek . Is it right to offer forgiveness to a situation even if the situation is not solved properly? The debate goes on and on but, the one thing people should realize is that even if the situation is looking bad their is always some goodthat can come out of it. A scholar by the name of Kent M.Keith once wrote , People really needhelp but may attack you if you do help them.Help people anyway.Give the world the best you have and you ll get kicked in the teeth.Give the world the best you have anyway. While analyzing this quote further, I have found that in any bad situation there still is room for improvement by implementing a sense of kindness and compassion for the situation at hand. For example, I work at a home improvement store called The Home Depot. In Home Depot you are sure to find a good day and a bad day. Customers come to The Home Depot looking for an item as well as good customer service. As being a cashier, my first priority is to make sure that every customer is properly taken care of on their way into the building and when you re leaving out the building. If the customer doesn t feel like they re being taken care of it can get very disappointing very quickly. While at work I try and stay as positive as I can so that each ... • 43. Prosthetic Arm Rehabilitation Using Arm Prosthetics to Aid Patient Rehabilitation in Occupational Therapy Megan Rafferty, Drew Petersen Patients with amputations face large restrictions on their daily activities and functioning due to some of the problems that they encounter with the block prosthetic limbs available. Part of the reason for this restriction is that body powered prostheses lack the ability to function at more than one degree of freedom at a given time. Despite only being able to successfully perform the particular motion in a given plane of movement, the restrictions can be frustrating and also prevents the prosthetic arm from maximizing its potential. A recent surgical technique, targeted muscle reinnervation (TMR), transfers residual arm ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This allows the patient to develop sufficient endurance required to proceed with TMR myoelectric prosthetic training. As a result of the redirected pathways from the brain to the host muscle, the OT must have in depth knowledge of peripheral nerve distribution in order to perform the appropriate strengthening exercises. In addition, the therapist must know the details of the surgery and the possible effects for every patient since each case is unique. An occupational therapist s knowledge of TMR is also advantageous for a myriad of patients who are physically active, due to the commonality of shoulder dislocations. Patients with prosthetics have an increased number of EMG signals, which result from more intuitive, controlled upper body movements with less effort[p1] . Additionally, these developed prosthetic movements are more efficient and fluid without the necessity of switching between degrees of freedom. Patients with TMR demonstrate increased performance in comparison to conventional myoelectric control (Stubblefield, 2009). For example, TMR patients were 50 percent faster in a clothespin moving test and improved in the Assessment of Motor and Process Skills. Due to the twofold effects of surgical and postoperative therapy intricacy, TMR provides the opportunity for clinical skill enhancement through the guidance of occupational therapists and thus ... Family Systems Theory Analysis Family Theories As an Advanced Practice Nurse there will usually be a certain course of action that takes place when a patient comes in and describes a problem they are having physically, but there are many different ways in which that patient will take that course of action. This paper will discuss two different theories, the Social Learning theory and the Family Systems theory, with the intent that the person may change the way they look at the prescribed action and why. The Social Learning theory was created by Albert Bandura in 1971 and is an effective way to engage all types of different people and help them to acclimate to the learning environment (Williams, 2017). The social learning theory uses modeling as the focal point of the theory.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another weakness is that the social learning theory doesn t take into account that what one person may perceive as a punishment, another may see as a reward. The Family Systems theory is the second theory that I will be discussing. The Family Systems theory created by Dr.Murray Bowen and Dr. Michael Kerr and states that the family is an emotional unit and that the members of the family are connected emotionally (Haefner, 2014). In the Family systems theory there are eight concepts that the author uses: triangles, differentiation of s elf, nuclear family emotional process, family projection process, multigenerational transmission process, emotional cutoff, sibling position and societal emotional process (Kerr, Bowen, 1988). Within these eight concepts are different ways in which the family operates emotionally within the unit. When the family is cohesive and cooperative the unit is secure, but when tension mounds, this can lead to problems and the emotional connectedness of the family becomes stressed (Kerr, Bowen, 1988). The eight concepts in the Family systems theory can either be separate or interlocking depending on the heightened tension and situation. Some common examples of the concepts interlocking include: depression, alcoholism, affairs, or physical illness (Kerr, Bowen, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Alfred J Prufrock The Love Song of Alfred J. Prufrock by T. S. Eliot is an excellent short poem about a man reflecting back on his life and realizing that he is alone and might possibly die alone. Eliot uses a variety of symbols, metaphors, and great diction to convey that Prufrock is unsatisfied with his life, especially his love life. Eliot depicts Prufrock as an older man reflecting back on his life, metaphorically, going through a midlife crisis. I grow old... I grow old.../I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled, by this Eliot is getting the reader to visualize as a person grows older, they grow shorter (120 121). Along with growing shorter Eliot also describes the significant balding of an old man With a bald spot in the middle of my hair / (they will say: How his hair is growing thin! ) (40 41). These two lines alone are showing that Prufrock is very insecure and self conscious with how he looks. Prufrock even goes as far as asking himself, Shall I part my hair behind? (122) Eliot is trying to show the reader that Prufrock wants to look his best for the intelligent ladies by wearing My morning coat, my collar mounting firmly to the chin,/My necktie rich and modest, but asserted by a simple pin and combing what hair he does have over his balding scalp (42 43). He is dressing to impress the women that come and go/Talking of Michelangelo, the intelligent ladies that he believes will judge him harshly, not the prostitutes that love his company (35 36). Drilling for oil is risky business and what makes it worthwhile is the payoff. To put it simply fossil fuels, oil and its distillates remain to be the lifeblood flowing through the veins of a highly industrialized and demanding modern industry. Transportation, Power Generation, Manufacturing, Motorsport, our very lives depend on oil. Arguments can be made that the most recent disasters to befall this oil giant could have happened to any other oil company however among the far reaching consequences of these disasters is the scrutiny that BP now finds itself under. This intense focus continues to reveal that these accidents could have been prevented, and more importantly better mitigated if BP had simply followed respected best practices for managing a crisis and for managing period. BP s apparent culture of deceit and arrogance perpetuated by executive actions resulted in negligence across the board, added to that BP s missteps in handling especially their most recent and most deadly incident and we have mounting evidence that points to more than just bad luck being involved. On April 10th 2010 the Deepwater Horizon oil rig off the coast of Louisiana exploded, killing 11, injuring 17 and spewing in excess of 3 million barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico. Hero Worship Hero worship never died and never will (Carlyle, 208).The dreams of becoming a superhero, the desire for success, and the worship of heroic figures are deeply rooted in our hearts. My feelings about heroes are always triggered by the most pervasive form of modern art films. Every time I watch a heroic film, I feel deeply moved by the strong personalities of the hero. In different films, he can either be a cowboy riding a horse, a warrior who fights for the independence of a country, a policeman who strikes the criminals or a successful man who makes a great contribution in a certain field. Last but not least, I refer to Rancho as a hero because he has profound influences on his friends and people around him, and he is always ready to sacrifice for them. As Browne (1990) demonstrates in his article, yet the ultimate and final unselfish act is, of course, death in the service of others. Putting another way, Browne here suggests that heroes are always ready to help others and the noblest heroic act is to sacrifice one s life for others. In the movie, Rancho always considers his friends happiness before his. He has tried every possible way to persuade his friend Farhan and Raju to chase their own dreams instead of living under the shadow of their families. Though this is not an easy task, Rancho has made this possible by sacrificing his own happiness been expelled from the college.
