Police Brutality And The Police As An Institution, And...
The study of ethics in policing has expanded considerably over the past few years as cases of police
brutality and corruption have surfaced in the media and in the courtroom. Commentators agree that
three issues have shaped the role of ethics in policing: styles of policing, the police as an institution,
and police culture. Banks, C. (2013). Criminal justice ethics: Theory and practice. Thousand Oaks:
SAGE Publications. One of the few things that is really dividing the country is the attitude towards the
police due to the killings of African Americans in of some cases unarmed or cases that the suspects
could have been subdued in a non lethal way; by the police over the past years, there have been many

according to the Department of Justice is especially important in light of the functions and duties of

liberty, and property, and as guardians of the interests of the public police must maintain high
standards of integrity. In addition, police have assumed the right to use intrusive, covert, and deceptive
methods of law enforcement has a crucial role in protecting minority groups. Lately, they have also
suffered a series of blows to their reputation for integrity through acts of corruption, incompetence,
and racism. All of these factors point to the centrality of fostering ethical standards in policing. Police
discretion concerning how to act in a given situation can often lead to ethical misconduct. Ethics and

Essay on Analysis of Shakespeare s Sonnet 20
Analysis of Shakespeare s Sonnet 20
Sonnet 20 appears to be about an affectionate love that the speaker develops for an unnamed man. He
describes the man as having a woman s face that Nature painted with its own hand. The speaker calls
this admired person his master mistress. He goes on to say that this man has the gentle heart of a
woman but is not inconsistent as is the way with women. He has eyes that are brighter than the eyes of
any women. His eyes are so true and sincere that they light up every object that they look upon. He is
a man of shape and form (and of authority) and all other figures are in his control. Furthermore, he
steals the attention of men and amazes the hearts of women. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Although during the Renaissance, the friendships between men were usually openly affectionate,
Sonnet 20 reveals a homosexual desire that the poet seems to be obsessed with.
The Shakespearean sonnet does not follow the ideal form of an iambic pentameter. Shakespeare plays
with this poem and deliberately stretches each line so that all fourteen lines end with an eleventh
syllable. The feet have been marked and each line is left with an extra syllable at the end. Shakespeare
was well aware of the iambic pentameter in writing his poems. Therefore, each feet is unstressed
stressed. Stressing the last syllable of each sentence shows the significance of that last word and its
meaning. In this case, each word at the end of every line ends in an unstressed syllable. To keep the
model of an iambic pentameter, the short syllables at the end of each line has been omitted. Most feet
follows the iambic form. However, there are few that do not because a poet cannot change the way a
word is normally pronounced. For example, Hast thou is a trochee but quickly preceding it is an
iambic, which, once again, keeps with the traditional form (line 2). The same holds true in this next
example. Mine be appears to be a spondee but that pattern breaks with the next feet of an iambic (line
6).
On the other hand, Sonnet 20 does follow the

Devil s Arithmetic Injustice
Injustice wars. This was happening in the movie The Devil s Arithmetic and in the book The
Breadwinner. In the movie The Devil s Arithmetic a teenage girl named Hannah has to go to her
grandmas house for a religious party. She has to do a certain task at the party, but when she does it she
travels back in time to the Holocaust war with her cousin Rivkah. In the book The Breadwinner a
young girl named Parvana and her family were in a war against the Taliban. This war has been going
on for 3 years and women aren t allowed to go outside without a note for their husband. The movie
The Devil s Arithmetic and the book The Breadwinner both have very injustice settings, characters,
and conflict. The setting was very injustice because the town that both of the main characters lived in

A conflict that was in the movie The Devil s Arithmetic was when the Nazis burned down the Jews

the Jew s city down because they knew that if they ever come back it would cost a lot of money to fix
the whole city and they would have any food or maybe even and water source and would have to pay

Impact Of Globalization On Business And Foreign Markets
Globalization is economics that is worldwide and a powerful force. It is tendencies of business and
investing in domestic and foreign markets. The globalization strengthens the interconnections of
various markets. It is social and technological trends that shows policy changes. When looking at
economics worldwide one has to consider the history of trade, the relationship of tariffs, and the
standards in the industries.
International trade indicates a large part of the economic research of production growth. Market size
has grown from exports of a companies products. By exporting a company learns about the foreign
markets. The company may gain some expertise from feedback they obtain from the buyer. This is
called the learning by exporting theory.
The learning by export theory shows a link between the productivity and trade. It shows
improvements that is tied to the trades and resource reallocations. The theory relies on studies and the
cross industry with time variations within trade. This is a link between the countries. It can run mock
trails to find evidence of more productive in certain periods of time. For instance Egyptian
manufacturers of rugs may not have had as much opportunity to export their goods. Yet the production
levels increased as the rugs were later traded on the foreign market (Economic, 2016). Such studies
shows the improvements in productivity may not come from domestic reallocations.
Sometimes globalization can be an exaggeration in

Comparing shattered Glass And Shattered Glass
In an 2004 article written by Peter Preston, criticizing the film Shattered Glass, the former editor
makes a point stating that the general public is far too busy being distracted by stories concerning
minor celebrities and football stars to be concerned about journalist making up current affair stories. I
do not feel that this is a strong argument, for multiple reasons. This point seems to make the actions of
Glass more acceptable than the movie portrayed it. It says that people will not care about false stories
written by one of your journalists, because they are too busy. In my eyes, this is brought out the idea
of distractions or lies, which could hurt a business more? A distraction and a lie are so different, and a
lie, or twisting

Lupe As A Role Model
Most people think being a role model is like a popularity contest, they think it s easy. People think all
they have to do is fit in with the crowd so they can be popular. But being a role model is not an easy
task, although Lupe makes it look that way when she doesn t even fit in. In the story, The Marble
Champ, by Gary Soto, Lupe is a very good role model. Lupe shows this by being a good sport, always
working hard, and by being intelligent.
One reason why I think Lupe is a good role model is because she is very intelligent. As proof, Lupe s
academic grades are straight A s. This shows that Lupe is intelligent because not many people get
straight A s on their report card every year of school. Secondly, Lupe is intelligent because she has
won multiple awards. For example, Lupe won the school spelling bee, she won the blue ribbon award
in the science fair, she was the winner of a reading contest at the library three summers in a row, she
was also the top student in her piano recital, and she was the playground champion of chess. Talk
about a ton of awards, right? Lupe feels like none of these awards mean anything though. Lupe wishes
she could win some type of award in athletics, so that she can keep up with the other girls in her
school, that s why Lupe is working towards her goal of being the marble champion. Also, in one case
in the story, when Lupe was playing marbles on her bed, she figured out that her bedspread was
slowing down the marbles as she shot them. This

Milky Way Compare And Contrast
In about 4 billion years, the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies will collide. The two neighbouring
galaxies are located in a collection of other galaxies acknowledged as the local group. This group
contains more than 50 galaxies, with a majority of them being dwarf galaxies. The largest and most
massive of galaxies are the Milky Way, Andromeda, and the Triangulum galaxy. All three of these
have a gathering of satellite galaxies surrounding them. Just like how planets orbit around the sun,
these smaller galaxies contain billions of stars and orbit around the galaxy s center. The satellite
galaxies orbit these larger galaxies due to the great gravitational attraction the larger galaxies emit.
The Milky Way galaxy has an assortment of approximately 30 satellite galaxies which include
Sagittarius Dwarf Galaxy, Large Magellanic Cloud, and Small Magellanic Cloud, just to name a few.
The Andromeda galaxy has about 15 satellite galaxies, and the Traingulum galaxy has the Pisces

of the Milky Way is approximately more than 400 solar masses. The center, Sagittarius A, is located
about 26 000 light years from Earth and contains a supermassive black hole. The other galaxy
involved in the future collision is the Andromeda galaxy, or M31. There are about 1 trillion stars and
could possibly contain more dark matter than the Milky Way. Its name comes from the constellation of
Andromeda, which originated from the mythological princes Andromeda. It is a spiral type galaxy
with at least two spiral arms and a diameter of 260 000 light years. The mass of Andromeda is

Bob Dylan And The American Civil Rights And Anti War...
Bob Dylan (/ˈdɪlən/; born Robert Allen Zimmerman, May 24, 1941) is an American singer songwriter,
artist and writer. He has been influential in popular music and culture for more than five decades.
Much of his most celebrated work dates from the 1960s when his songs chronicled social unrest,
although Dylan repudiated suggestions from journalists that he was a spokesman for his generation.
Nevertheless, early songs such as Blowin in the Wind and The Times They Are a Changin became
anthems for the American civil rights and anti war movements. After he left his initial base in the
American folk music revival, his six minute single Like a Rolling Stone altered the range of popular
music in 1965. His mid 1960s recordings, backed by rock musicians, reached the top end of the
United States music charts while also attracting denunciation and criticism from others in the folk
movement. Dylan s lyrics have incorporated various political, social, philosophical, and literary
influences. They defied existing pop music conventions and appealed to the burgeoning
counterculture. Initially inspired by the performances of Little Richard, and the songwriting of Woody
Guthrie, Robert Johnson, and Hank Williams, Dylan has amplified and personalized musical genres.
His recording career, spanning 50 years, has explored the traditions in American song from folk,
blues, and country to gospel, rock and roll, and rockabilly to English, Scottish, and Irish folk music,
embracing even jazz

Analysis Of The C C s Management
Executive Summary:
Calyx and Corolla (C C) is a company started by Ruth M. Owades in 1988, which delivers fresh
flowers to the customers using courier service Federal Express. Customers can choose from a wide
range of fresh flowers and bouquets and make an order via phone or fax and get it delivered to their
houses. During 1990, it had consummated over 150k transactions, yielding revenues in excess of $10
million. C C was exceptionally promising yet it s still a partly proven, start up company. The main
challenges that C C is facing are competition with traditional flower selling outlets, less customer base
that order flowers via mail. The company should determine whether it should change its current
strategy and position itself as a mail operation to compete with the traditional outlets, such as florists
and FTDs. Specifically, the C C s management is planning a major advertising campaign to go head to
head against FTDs. Its problem is that it is not clear who their customers should be? As a small
company, it needs to figure out the best way to use its limited marketing resources to reach potential
customers.
Goal and goal defense:
C C is a small player in a large market that has remarkable growth potential. As a company, C C has
enjoyed substantial success since its beginnings in 1988. The goal of the company is to solidify its
presence in the market by evolving its current business model and developing new business

It is a major change that is affecting the current economic immigration policy and the Canadian labor
market. Ever since the authors noticed that FSWP is playing a smaller role as immigration policy
became more responsive to the short term need of Canadian employers. They declare that this is tragic
to the durable development of our society because it only satisfies the short term need in the job
market. As for me, even though it is understandable in having temporary workers can be a quick
solution to the labor market shortage. At the same time, it can also solve the problem of the long
delays of FSWP. However, it creates two different treatments towards immigrants and temporary
workers in the long run. Consequently, it will affect local Canadians greatly by having double
standards. Therefore, I believe our top priority should be focused on how to balance the current and
temporary needs of the labor market from the periodical workers and the long term demands of the

advantages that his army had compared to others were the horses since they were armored and agile as
well. During combat the Mongols could use the horses as a shield because they re armored and they
can also shoot at the enemies with their ranged weapons such as a bow as well. The Mongol horses
only required grass as sustenance and the horses produced mare s milk as well. The Mongols aimed to

to continue building their tribe. The women could help with the growth of the population and the
children can grow up to become warriors or help around their tribes. He aimed to unify the tribes that

St Joseph s University Case Study
Thank you very much for the generous financial aid package you awarded me; my family and I greatly
appreciate all the help you are giving us to allow me to be able to attend St Joseph s University.
Initially, we all felt that the package offered could make St Joseph s affordable for me. However, after
researching the commuting expenses for riding the train in from Trenton, NJ to Overbrook Station I
realized that the projected costs on my award letter vary significantly from the actual costs. While the
the letter approximates $1,650 in annual commuter expenses, the Amtrak pass alone will cost me
about $7,000 per year. This cost greatly increases my estimated total cost of attendance. Because of
this, I am in need of more funds in order to commute daily to St Joseph s University. I am hoping that
you will be able to increase my financial aid award to reflect this change in costs. ... Show more

In addition to this factor, I know that as a commuter I will be forced to miss out on many of the fun
activities St Joseph s University holds during times which I am either traveling or at my home in the

to take advantage of everything St Joseph s University has to offer. If I can afford it, I would definitely
prefer to live on campus. Unfortunately, due to my current financial circumstances this will not be
possible. As you have noticed, I recently requested to change my status from commuter to resident
student. I would be thrilled to be able to live on campus next year and will appreciate any financial

Contact Dermatitis Case Study
Response # 2
Hello Mie Fowler,
I enjoyed reading your great post about case study # 1. I do agree with you that contact dermatitis
seems to be the probable diagnosis for this patient. According to Usatine and Riojas (2010); Mowad,
Anderson, Scheinman, Pootongkam, Nedorost, and Brod (2016), contact dermatitis is a widespread
inflammatory skin syndrome branded by pruritic and erythematous skin grazes that happen following
a contact with a foreign substance.
There are two types of contact dermatitis namely allergic and irritant, the irritant contact dermatitis is
triggered by the non immune modulated irritant substance of the skin that spearheads skin vicissitudes

Budget Proposal From Former Governor Governor Bob McDonnell
The outgoing Governor Bob McDonnell on December 10, 2013 revealed his two year budget proposal
called the 2014 2016 Biennial Budget and Amendments to the 2013 Appropriation Act. When Mr.
McDonnell released his proposal at the Capital in Richmond he spoke about some key things in
regards initiatives that needed to be taken.
The first thing people noticed about the proposed budget was that it was 96 billion dollars. He made
some increases in some areas while decreasing funding to areas many people considered unacceptable.
This includes cuts to schools; his plan shaved 48 million off kindergarten programs deemed
underutilized. One thing that was proposed that most people agreed with was an increase to the states
contingency fund. In the budget Governor McDonnell will increase the rainy day fund to over one
billion dollars. However, higher education was a big concern in the budget as evident because of the
almost 200 million boost in the funds allocated for colleges and universities. The one major factor that
stuck in people s mind the most and was the trigger that ignited support for the piece of legislation was
the fact that Mr. McDonnell did not propose new taxes. In the plan there is a lot of cutting to programs
that are deemed unnecessary and reallocating of funds that Governor McDonnell feels are very
important, for example Medicaid. This program is what spark new debate in the house and senate
about how Medicaid should not be expanded. This expansion would

class. I am at Bond Elementary School which is an intercity school. Most of the school s student
population comes from subsidized housing (the projects). I am in a first grade class of nineteen
students. While performing my duties at in Mrs. J Williams Classroom I became very eager to observe
as well as work with a student by the name of Ja Von W. Ja Von is a six year old, I recently found out

Developing an Intervention
The intervention I selected was Chart Moves. The way that I implemented this particular intervention
with the student is by writing his name on the poster in which I supplied. Every time the student
performed the desired behavior, which was reading fluently within two minutes and answering post
questions he would move up half a notch. With the chart, Ja Von would have the opportunity to earn
different reinforcement such as things that he was interested in or things that he liked. I became aware
of the things that he was interested in during the observation phase and before I introduced him to the
intervention, I asked him to make a list of the 10 things that he enjoyed doing or things that he liked in
general. The list included but were not limited too cookies, candy and action figures. This gave me the
opportunity to use the reinforcers as ways to increase the desired behavior and decrease the
inappropriate one. After the intervention was introduced, it was explained to the student how it would
work. Moreover, the way the system was designed to work in the way that the student would quickly

Homophobia In Dude YouRe A Fag Pdg
This instability also transfers to the interpersonal relations between a teacher and their student. One
example with Pascoe gives to prove that homophobia permeates student teacher interactions, also
shows the vulnerability of teacher authority. Pascoe describes a conversation between two teachers;
Mr. Ford, the art teacher explains that one of his students, Huey, had flipped him off (2007, p. 36). In
response, Mr. Ford told him You should be doing that to girls, not to me (Pascoe, 2007, p. 36). Pascoe
understands this as Mr. Ford calling out Huey s masculinity, telling him that Huey s fuck you, which
Mr. Ford interpreted sexually in order to teach him a lesson, should be directed at girls (2007, p. 36).
This is a threat to Huey s masculinity because Mr. Ford is implying that Huey meant the gesture as a
sexual come on to another man. This is an example of the larger pattern of homophobia and
heteronormativity which Pascoe tries to lay out throughout Dude, You re a Fag. Again, I agree with
Pascoe, but believe that her analysis could go further. She argues that homophobia and heterosexual
norms permeate student teacher interactions, but fails to mention the teacher s position of authority as
a reason for this. In this example, Huey challenged Mr. Ford s authority by flipping him off. Then,
instead of causing a scene and losing the friendly student teacher rapport that Mr. Ford worked to
cultivate, Mr. Ford chose to minimize the situation by using a joke to enact

characters in the story have one impression of Mrs. Mallard; she seems to have reacted to the terrible
news as one would expect, but the reader is aware that a distinct change has come over her.
The story unviels its theme at this point: Mrs. Mallard, for the first time in her life, experiences a new

a long procession of years to come that would belong to her absolutely . She could now live her life
and be absolutely free of the imposing will of her husband: There would be no one to live for her
during the coming years; she would live for herself. There would be now powerful will bending hers
in the blind persistence with which men and women believe they have a right to impose a private will

To Sleep is to Dream
I have often had dreams that were so real and vivid, that I was unable to tell if they truly happened or
occurred in my dreams. Sleeping is very important to everyone. Without proper sleep, the body s
immune system can begin to fail, and then one will become more susceptible to virus, illnesses, and
disease. Even when we are asleep, the human mind does not completely sleep. When we are asleep,
we tend to tune out environmental sounds that occur when we sleep. For example, I live near a
freeway, yet the sounds of it never wake me. The auditory cortex in our brains respond to stimuli even
when we are asleep. For example, I can always wake up when one of my children calls my name
while I am in a deep slumber. There have been many studies and observations on individuals while
they are asleep. These studies are done on individuals who have sleep disorders. There are four phases
of sleep, and when one does not get the proper sleep, physical and mental issues will occur. Our
bodies work in tides, and our minds and bodies fluctuate. When our bodies seem to synchronize with
the 24 hour day, it is referred to as the circadian rhythm. It is the biological clock that tells us when it
is day time we are awake, and night time is when we are supposed to sleep. Age and experience can
affect the circadian rhythm, and I see this in myself. For instance, when I was in my teens and twenty
s, I had no problem staying up all night, whether it was working a graveyard shift, or

Taking a Look at Government Shutdowns
A government shutdown can be a scary and traumatic event, but how worried should America really
be? What causes a shutdown to happen? Under the Constitution, Congress must pass laws to spend
money. If Congress cannot agree on a spending bill or the president vetoes it the government does not
have the legal authority to spend money. Therefore, the House and Senate must agree on a law to pass
one. If they cannot agree, they will briefly shutdown the government until they come to resolution.
Any shutdown would begin when the fiscal year ends (12 month period, starting October 1 and ending
September 30) and it would end immediately after the president signs a spending bill. Most
government shutdowns last no more than three days. Some last less than a day but the longest was 21
days, from December 16, 1995, through January 5, 1996. From 1976 to present, there have been 17
shutdowns according to the Congressional Research Service. However, there are no recorded
shutdowns before 1976. In a government shutdown, only non essential functions of the federal
government close down, while all essential functions of the government remain operating. Generally,
all government functions that ensure safety and protect property remain open and in operation

The Debate of Human Cloning Essay
Missing Appendix
The Debate of Human Cloning
Human cloning has become a hot topic for debate. As we progressed one step closer to successfully
cloning and developing a human being, legislators and the general public have become more
concerned about the ethical and moral implications of this procedure. The federal government has
been unsuccessful in reaching an agreement as to what policy to pass and enact. Thus, any current
legislation on human cloning has been developed and enforced by individual states. The state of
California is one of the few states in the United States that has a policy on human cloning. Human

A clone is genetically identical to the person or animal who provided the somatic cell that provided the
DNA. Much of the new laws being drafted to prevent human cloning have yet to be enacted or
reviewed by Congress. There has been much debate between the Democrats and Republicans on this
issue.
Problems with ethical concerns over human cloning play a very large role in hindering the adoption of
various legislation. Anti abortion organizations have entered the debate by voicing their opinions
about human cloning and research. They claim that by allowing research to take place on human
embryos, Congress would be giving approval for the destruction of life(Appendix A.4). Would we, in
fact, be devaluing life by creating, experimenting and killing human embryos for the purpose of
research?(Appendix A.5) There has also been concern over the rights of a human clone. Issues have
been raised about the individuality, autonomy, objectification, and kinship of the resulting children
(Appendix A.6). Because the clone would be identical genetically and phenotypically to a person who
currently exists or did exist in the past, he or she may be expected to follow in the footsteps of the
DNA donor.
This would take away any individuality and autonomy that would normally be experienced by an

The Use Of Motifs In The Bean Trees
Written by Barbara Kingsolver, The Bean Trees contains characters who demonstrate how living
creatures are able to find methods of growing and transforming, despite unusual arrangements or
lifestyle. Throughout the novel, in the chapters The One to Get Away and Dream Angels the use of
motifs are greatly emphasized. Rebirth is one of the two important motifs, as the pattern of life and
death is repeated in the novel. Frequently, this theme is connected with dualities: when one member of
a pair passes, the other gains life force. Newt Hardbine represents as some sort of double for Taylor, in
the chapter The One to Get Away . For example, in school, people could barely tell them different

The dried up seed that, once buried, becomes a living thing, symbolizes her own life experience. For
instance, the night blooming cereus that Edna Poppy brings, which appears up on page 240, to Taylor

symbolizes the assistance and adoration individuals give each other. The bean trees, similar to

The Internet a New News
A fact is something that is said to be indisputably true. Facts are key in portraying any storyline or

reporting only facts that provide an accurate description of events. Unfortunately, certain media outlets
have issues with reporting solely facts. The media can be an amazing tool for dispersing information
amongst the masses and can ensure that everyone is educated on relevant and important topics. The
media can also be used as propaganda to further an agenda that may not be in everyone s best interest.
Regardless of what media is used for it is a very powerful outlet and whoever controls the media

Angry Black White Boy
In Adam Mansbach s Angry Black White Boy (ABWB), the protagonist, Macon Detornay, is a white
male who is obsessed with black culture and angry with white Americans. Macon moved to New York
City for college and began a crime spree of robbing white people who rode in his taxicab. The city of
New York went on a search for the black man who was supposedly robbing these people. Eventually,
Macon s true skin color is revealed and he decides to use his newfound fame to discuss the evils of
white people. Macon then founded the Race Traitor Project. This idea was for guilty white people and
liberals to be a part of what he called a Day of Apology, in which white people were to apologize for
the hundreds of years of oppression they put minorities through. The Day of Apology ended up
causing a major riot, which led Macon to decide how committed he was to the Race Traitor Project.
Adam Mansbach used ABWB as a means to shed light on institutional racism and what can be done to

The Struggle Between Love And Hate In Shakespeare s Romeo...
In Shakespeare s cautionary tale Romeo and Juliet, there is constantly a struggle between love and
hate, causing tension throughout the play. But even the most powerful love simply can not conquer
this burning, consuming rage we see surrounding the love. In the end, hate is always the victor of the
struggle in fair Verona .
Firstly, we see how love has conquered hate through Romeo and Juliet s relationship. As Juliet says, it
s her only love sprung from (her) only hate . This oxymoron conveys how her love has seemingly
come from the hate surrounding it, it has survived despite there being overwhelming hate. We see that
this love is also giving them strength. In the balcony scene , Romeo says that her love makes him

When Tybalt challenges Romeo to a fight, he uses hateful, condescending language such as villain or

challenge, he chooses to love, as he is obliged to love Tybalt, as he loves Juliet. He responds in
affectionate tones calling Tybalt brother and insisting that he loves (him) more than (he) can devise .
This is also use of dramatic irony, as only the audience and Romeo know of this forbidden
relationship. All of the characters are incredibly confused as we see Mercutio believing this is a vile,
dishonourable submission . This attempt to keep peace failed dismally, as Mercutio chooses to fight.
Romeo quickly shifts from love to hate, when Mercutio is brutally slain, we see him choosing to have
fire eyed fury be (his) conduct . His metaphor emphasise how burning, unstoppable and enraged he is
at Tybalt. His view of love has shifted, ridding his love of Juliet temporarily to choose hate. He blames
love instead of praising it, saying it hast made (him) effeminate and weakened valour s shield . This
words have negative connotations of being weak, timid and powerless, and so the hate surrounding the
small love pushed Romeo to choose hate instead. The love just couldn t beat the hate in this

The Presentation Of The Working Class Statement By Thomas...
The document under study is an excerpt from a speech. This speech was delivered in May 1842 by
Thomas Babington Macaulay. In 1842, several events occurred in England. First, England went
through a recession. This recession was due to a decrease on the workers wages. This decrease was
introduced by the Anti Corn laws manufacturers. As a consequence, England observed a widespread
on Chartist activity. Chartists belonged to an important working class movement called Chartism.
Chartists wanted to get some recognition for the working class. They presented to parliament a
petition divided into six points. They aimed to pass them. However, they met radical oppositions.
Indeed, this year marked the second presentation of the petition to parliament. ... Show more content

This quotation opposes the rich and the poor. The institution of property refers indeed to the money
people get from their properties, the rich. The institution of property is linked with the well being of
society . Consequently, according to Macaulay, the rich are the only ones who are able to lead the
country. This idea is enforced by the fact that he considers workers as children. I would not give the

Return on equity is stable throughout the year as well. Both profit margin and basic earnings power
are stable. Regarding earnings per share, there is a slight increase in Q2 and then a continual decrease
in Q3 and Q4. This is a result of a decrease in the average number of common shares. The following
table represents the debt ratios for ExxonMobil for FY 2011: Debt Ratios | Q1 | Q2 | Q3 | Q4 | Annual |
Total Debt | .51 | .50 | .50 | .51 | .51 | Interest Coverage | 653.31 | 414.76 | 191.61 | 223.25 | 296.08 |
Debt/Equity | 1.07 | 1.06 | 1.04 | 1.10 | 1.10 | Total debt ratio remained stable in all periods in 2011 and
is below 1:1, which is a good indication of the company maintaining its leverage. Interest coverage
ratio shows a downward trend in Q2 and Q3 with a slight increase in Q4. These results are derived
from an increase in interest expense. These changes are not very significant to the success of the
business as the company s ratio is well above 1.5, which implies the company is not burdened by its
debt expenses. Debt/Equity ratio remained stable in all periods with a slight increase in Q4 as a result
of increased liabilities. The following table represents the market ratios for

Epilogue To Ava s Diary
Monsters under my bed Ava walked hand and hand with her mother towards her bedroom. Her upper
lip trembling in fright as they approached the young girl s door. Her palms became cold and clammy
in her mothers as they entered the purple room. The increased rate of Ava s heart could be heard by
her mother, the faint lub dub, lub dub of her heart was growing increasing louder as they got closer to
the room.
Mommy! Please please please let me sleep with you tonight. Ava cried, tears streaming down her face.
Avie, how many times have I told you, there are no scary monsters under your bed! The mom said.
She hoisted her young daughter in the twin bed, which was covered in teddy bears of all shapes and
sizes and cozy warm blankets. Ava s mom ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

scene she ever encountered. Fur was all over the floor, scratches as well and carvings were made
underneath the bed. The mom slid underneath the bed as her eyes filled with tears of sadness. She
knew what was carved under the bed was a message for her. Her hands flew over her mouth as she

Kurt Cobain And Morrison Research Paper
Kurt Cobain and Jim Morrison Despite being almost twenty years in between the time of their fame
Kurt Cobain and Jim Morrison are more often than not compared to each other. They had fame,
fortune and depression. Both were considered to be poets instead of just musicians. Cobain and
Morrison has a lot going for them musically. Kurt was not only the lead of a phenomenal band but a
guitarist, song writer and an icon to the masses. Morrison was a writer, film maker and icon as well.
Not including all the talent they had going for them, the main thing they had in common was
depression. It is true that it does not discriminate. With a lot of fame and fans comes a lot of pressure,
too. Both artists agreed that their trying times started when they

Psychosexual Stages And Societal Structure
Psychosexual Stages and Societal Structure
Nathanael D. Evans
Montana State University Billings Abstract
This paper assumes that Sigmund Freud s theory of psychosexual stages in childhood development is
accurate. Given the information we have on Freud s idea of fixations, and their causes, I will explore
how societal structure would need to shift towards an acute focus on childhood in order to eliminate as
much abnormality as possible from the adulthood of all individuals that make up a society. I will also
speculate on ideas for streamlining childhood development, by treating it as an assembly line process.
My points will be highly figurative, as the implementation of the ideas contained herein would not be
possible without removing rights from the populace. However, we must assume, in the spirit of this
exercise, that implementation can occur, and that the theories being examined are accurate in all cases
of abnormality. Psychosexual Stages and Societal Structure
If we are to assume that the earliest experiences of an individual influence their later personality traits,
then it should be assumed that the structure of our society should revolve around a universal set of
guidelines for child rearing, so as to avoid abnormality in the individual in later life. On the larger
scale, if all individuals are raised in identical fashion, societal structure would be uniform. Sigmund
Freud referred to the stages of childhood development as psychosexual stages. Freud believed

The Generation Of The New Generation
The unknown future may be frightening, but knowing the Millennials are the next generation of
leaders to change the world should be comforting. Millennials make up the population of society that
was born between 1980 and 2000 and in America there are more millennials right now than baby
boomers more than 80 million (Simmons Duffit). Just like every new generation, the Millennials have
been endlessly criticized by older generations. They have been called lazy, entitled, self absorbed,
social media crazed, technology addicts, privileged, and so much more. This generation change has
drawn more public attention than ever before, maybe because of the access to widespread information
nowadays or maybe because this time, it s a bigger deal. Millennials aren t afraid to address this topic
because they believe that they can change the world for the better. They want the judgements in
communities and the criticisms in the workplace to stop. They want society to realize they are not so
different from generations before, they are already transforming life as we know it, and that they will
soon be the next generation of leaders and nothing can change that. Although Millennials can be
perceived in multiple negative aspects, older generations should be open to the unique potential that
this massive generation has to offer as an opportunity to close the gap of separation and learn to grow
from each other. One of the most common criticism of Millennials is their tendency to be lazy.

The Epic Of Gilgamesh And The Ramayana
In two ancient classics, we see a clear display of an abuse of power. In both The Epic of Gilgamesh
and The Ramayana, we find protagonists who commit deeds of treachery in the name of slaying a
monster. These slayings seem justified at first; however, as we examine them further we find that they
are no more than heinous acts in the name of asserting power over the other. Both Gilgamesh and
Rama kill monsters in the name of supporting what they believe in, but their beliefs are not always
justified. When we closely examine the scenes of the monster slayings in both epics, we find that our
that protagonists appear as power hungry war mongers and not the heroes that they claim to be. Both
of these heroes kill in the name of supporting their own beliefs. For Rama, he kills in the name of
subduing women s sexuality while Gilgamesh kills in the name of claiming resources, particularly
cedar trees, for his own. Let s begin with one of the earliest stories ever written, The Epic of
Gilgamesh. In this story, Gilgamesh is king of Uruk; he eventually meets his partner in crime Enkidu,
who is a wild man created by the gods to keep Gilgamesh from becoming an oppressive king. After
Gilgamesh and Enkidu duke it out and, naturally, become best friends; they decide to go on a conquest
for some cedar trees like best all best friends do. When they reach the forest, it does not take long until
they run across Humbaba. Humbaba, being the guardian of the Cedar forest is not pleased with

Anime And Stereotypes
From what I have experienced through what I know of the anime world, I constantly make the
assumption that most anime follows the same plot, according to their genre, simply just with different
characters. Watching the new anime that come out each season, my mindset is that of already knowing
what is going to happen, or how the show will ultimately end. Another assumption that I find myself
making is that most female anime characters are portrayed in a sexual manner. It is a rare sight in
modern anime to find an anime without an overly explicit female character. In regards to the impact
my assumptions will have on my inquiry and writing, I find that my assumptions may create a bias
that prevents me from fully analyzing the research I find as well as affecting the breadth of the
research I look into. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My introduction to anime was through the English dub of Japanese children anime that was popular
enough to make it to the United States. As I matured, and was able to read faster, I moved on to
watching the Japanese dubbed version of anime. The personal connections that I have with anime are
the memories I have made through meeting friends who have the same interests as me, and the heated
debates that I have regarding anime with my siblings. I attribute the knowledge that I have attained
about anime to my older brother as well as my own personal experiences of watching anime

  • 2. Police Brutality And The Police As An Institution, And... The study of ethics in policing has expanded considerably over the past few years as cases of police brutality and corruption have surfaced in the media and in the courtroom. Commentators agree that three issues have shaped the role of ethics in policing: styles of policing, the police as an institution, and police culture. Banks, C. (2013). Criminal justice ethics: Theory and practice. Thousand Oaks: SAGE Publications. One of the few things that is really dividing the country is the attitude towards the police due to the killings of African Americans in of some cases unarmed or cases that the suspects could have been subdued in a non lethal way; by the police over the past years, there have been many complaints from African American that ... The study of police ethics according to the Department of Justice is especially important in light of the functions and duties of the police as well as the wide powers of discretion that they enjoy. Police decisions can affect life, liberty, and property, and as guardians of the interests of the public police must maintain high standards of integrity. In addition, police have assumed the right to use intrusive, covert, and deceptive methods of law enforcement has a crucial role in protecting minority groups. Lately, they have also suffered a series of blows to their reputation for integrity through acts of corruption, incompetence, and racism. • 4. Essay on Analysis of Shakespeare s Sonnet 20 Analysis of Shakespeare s Sonnet 20 Sonnet 20 appears to be about an affectionate love that the speaker develops for an unnamed man. He describes the man as having a woman s face that Nature painted with its own hand. The speaker calls this admired person his master mistress. He goes on to say that this man has the gentle heart of a woman but is not inconsistent as is the way with women. He has eyes that are brighter than the eyes of any women. His eyes are so true and sincere that they light up every object that they look upon. He is a man of shape and form (and of authority) and all other figures are in his control. Furthermore, he steals the attention of men and amazes the hearts of women. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although during the Renaissance, the friendships between men were usually openly affectionate, Sonnet 20 reveals a homosexual desire that the poet seems to be obsessed with. The Shakespearean sonnet does not follow the ideal form of an iambic pentameter. Shakespeare plays with this poem and deliberately stretches each line so that all fourteen lines end with an eleventh syllable. The feet have been marked and each line is left with an extra syllable at the end. Shakespeare was well aware of the iambic pentameter in writing his poems. Therefore, each feet is unstressed stressed. Stressing the last syllable of each sentence shows the significance of that last word and its meaning. In this case, each word at the end of every line ends in an unstressed syllable. To keep the model of an iambic pentameter, the short syllables at the end of each line has been omitted. Most feet follows the iambic form. However, there are few that do not because a poet cannot change the way a word is normally pronounced. For example, Hast thou is a trochee but quickly preceding it is an iambic, which, once again, keeps with the traditional form (line 2). The same holds true in this next example. Mine be appears to be a spondee but that pattern breaks with the next feet of an iambic (line 6). On the other hand, Sonnet 20 does follow the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is tendencies of business and investing in domestic and foreign markets. The globalization strengthens the interconnections of various markets. It is social and technological trends that shows policy changes. When looking at economics worldwide one has to consider the history of trade, the relationship of tariffs, and the standards in the industries. International trade indicates a large part of the economic research of production growth. Market size has grown from exports of a companies products. By exporting a company learns about the foreign markets. The company may gain some expertise from feedback they obtain from the buyer. This is called the learning by exporting theory. The learning by export theory shows a link between the productivity and trade. It shows improvements that is tied to the trades and resource reallocations. The theory relies on studies and the cross industry with time variations within trade. This is a link between the countries. It can run mock trails to find evidence of more productive in certain periods of time. For instance Egyptian manufacturers of rugs may not have had as much opportunity to export their goods. Yet the production levels increased as the rugs were later traded on the foreign market (Economic, 2016). Such studies shows the improvements in productivity may not come from domestic reallocations. Comparing shattered Glass And Shattered Glass In an 2004 article written by Peter Preston, criticizing the film Shattered Glass, the former editor makes a point stating that the general public is far too busy being distracted by stories concerning minor celebrities and football stars to be concerned about journalist making up current affair stories. I do not feel that this is a strong argument, for multiple reasons. This point seems to make the actions of Glass more acceptable than the movie portrayed it. It says that people will not care about false stories written by one of your journalists, because they are too busy. • 8. Lupe As A Role Model Most people think being a role model is like a popularity contest, they think it s easy. People think all they have to do is fit in with the crowd so they can be popular. But being a role model is not an easy task, although Lupe makes it look that way when she doesn t even fit in. In the story, The Marble Champ, by Gary Soto, Lupe is a very good role model. Lupe shows this by being a good sport, always working hard, and by being intelligent. One reason why I think Lupe is a good role model is because she is very intelligent. As proof, Lupe s academic grades are straight A s. This shows that Lupe is intelligent because not many people get straight A s on their report card every year of school. Secondly, Lupe is intelligent because she has won multiple awards. For example, Lupe won the school spelling bee, she won the blue ribbon award in the science fair, she was the winner of a reading contest at the library three summers in a row, she was also the top student in her piano recital, and she was the playground champion of chess. Talk about a ton of awards, right? Lupe feels like none of these awards mean anything though. Lupe wishes she could win some type of award in athletics, so that she can keep up with the other girls in her school, that s why Lupe is working towards her goal of being the marble champion. Also, in one case in the story, when Lupe was playing marbles on her bed, she figured out that her bedspread was slowing down the marbles as she shot them. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Bob Dylan And The American Civil Rights And Anti War... Bob Dylan (/ˈdɪlən/; born Robert Allen Zimmerman, May 24, 1941) is an American singer songwriter, artist and writer. He has been influential in popular music and culture for more than five decades. Much of his most celebrated work dates from the 1960s when his songs chronicled social unrest, although Dylan repudiated suggestions from journalists that he was a spokesman for his generation. Nevertheless, early songs such as Blowin in the Wind and The Times They Are a Changin became anthems for the American civil rights and anti war movements. After he left his initial base in the American folk music revival, his six minute single Like a Rolling Stone altered the range of popular music in 1965. His mid 1960s recordings, backed by rock musicians, reached the top end of the United States music charts while also attracting denunciation and criticism from others in the folk movement. Dylan s lyrics have incorporated various political, social, philosophical, and literary influences. They defied existing pop music conventions and appealed to the burgeoning counterculture. Initially inspired by the performances of Little Richard, and the songwriting of Woody Guthrie, Robert Johnson, and Hank Williams, Dylan has amplified and personalized musical genres. His recording career, spanning 50 years, has explored the traditions in American song from folk, blues, and country to gospel, rock and roll, and rockabilly to English, Scottish, and Irish folk music, embracing even jazz ... Customers can choose from a wide range of fresh flowers and bouquets and make an order via phone or fax and get it delivered to their houses. During 1990, it had consummated over 150k transactions, yielding revenues in excess of $10 million. C C was exceptionally promising yet it s still a partly proven, start up company. The main challenges that C C is facing are competition with traditional flower selling outlets, less customer base that order flowers via mail. The company should determine whether it should change its current strategy and position itself as a mail operation to compete with the traditional outlets, such as florists and FTDs. Specifically, the C C s management is planning a major advertising campaign to go head to head against FTDs. Its problem is that it is not clear who their customers should be? As a small company, it needs to figure out the best way to use its limited marketing resources to reach potential customers. Goal and goal defense: C C is a small player in a large market that has remarkable growth potential. As a company, C C has enjoyed substantial success since its beginnings in 1988. As for me, even though it is understandable in having temporary workers can be a quick solution to the labor market shortage. At the same time, it can also solve the problem of the long delays of FSWP. However, it creates two different treatments towards immigrants and temporary workers in the long run. The first thing people noticed about the proposed budget was that it was 96 billion dollars. He made some increases in some areas while decreasing funding to areas many people considered unacceptable. This includes cuts to schools; his plan shaved 48 million off kindergarten programs deemed underutilized. One thing that was proposed that most people agreed with was an increase to the states contingency fund. In the budget Governor McDonnell will increase the rainy day fund to over one billion dollars. However, higher education was a big concern in the budget as evident because of the almost 200 million boost in the funds allocated for colleges and universities. The one major factor that stuck in people s mind the most and was the trigger that ignited support for the piece of legislation was the fact that Mr. McDonnell did not propose new taxes. • 29. Homophobia In Dude YouRe A Fag Pdg This instability also transfers to the interpersonal relations between a teacher and their student. One example with Pascoe gives to prove that homophobia permeates student teacher interactions, also shows the vulnerability of teacher authority. Pascoe describes a conversation between two teachers; Mr. Ford, the art teacher explains that one of his students, Huey, had flipped him off (2007, p. 36). In response, Mr. Ford told him You should be doing that to girls, not to me (Pascoe, 2007, p. 36). Pascoe understands this as Mr. Ford calling out Huey s masculinity, telling him that Huey s fuck you, which Mr. Ford interpreted sexually in order to teach him a lesson, should be directed at girls (2007, p. 36). This is a threat to Huey s masculinity because Mr. Ford is implying that Huey meant the gesture as a sexual come on to another man. This is an example of the larger pattern of homophobia and heteronormativity which Pascoe tries to lay out throughout Dude, You re a Fag. Again, I agree with Pascoe, but believe that her analysis could go further. She argues that homophobia and heterosexual norms permeate student teacher interactions, but fails to mention the teacher s position of authority as a reason for this. In this example, Huey challenged Mr. Ford s authority by flipping him off. Then, instead of causing a scene and losing the friendly student teacher rapport that Mr. Ford worked to cultivate, Mr. Ford chose to minimize the situation by using a joke to enact ... Without proper sleep, the body s immune system can begin to fail, and then one will become more susceptible to virus, illnesses, and disease. Even when we are asleep, the human mind does not completely sleep. When we are asleep, we tend to tune out environmental sounds that occur when we sleep. For example, I live near a freeway, yet the sounds of it never wake me. The auditory cortex in our brains respond to stimuli even when we are asleep. For example, I can always wake up when one of my children calls my name while I am in a deep slumber. There have been many studies and observations on individuals while they are asleep. These studies are done on individuals who have sleep disorders. There are four phases of sleep, and when one does not get the proper sleep, physical and mental issues will occur. Under the Constitution, Congress must pass laws to spend money. If Congress cannot agree on a spending bill or the president vetoes it the government does not have the legal authority to spend money. Therefore, the House and Senate must agree on a law to pass one. If they cannot agree, they will briefly shutdown the government until they come to resolution. In Shakespeare s cautionary tale Romeo and Juliet, there is constantly a struggle between love and hate, causing tension throughout the play. But even the most powerful love simply can not conquer this burning, consuming rage we see surrounding the love. In the end, hate is always the victor of the struggle in fair Verona . Firstly, we see how love has conquered hate through Romeo and Juliet s relationship. As Juliet says, it s her only love sprung from (her) only hate . This oxymoron conveys how her love has seemingly come from the hate surrounding it, it has survived despite there being overwhelming hate. We see that this love is also giving them strength. In the balcony scene , Romeo says that her love makes him proof from their enmity . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Tybalt challenges Romeo to a fight, he uses hateful, condescending language such as villain or my man , attempting to anger Romeo and provoke him to fight. But Romeo does not rise to the challenge, he chooses to love, as he is obliged to love Tybalt, as he loves Juliet. He responds in affectionate tones calling Tybalt brother and insisting that he loves (him) more than (he) can devise . This is also use of dramatic irony, as only the audience and Romeo know of this forbidden relationship. All of the characters are incredibly confused as we see Mercutio believing this is a vile, dishonourable submission . This attempt to keep peace failed dismally, as Mercutio chooses to fight. Romeo quickly shifts from love to hate, when Mercutio is brutally slain, we see him choosing to have fire eyed fury be (his) conduct . His metaphor emphasise how burning, unstoppable and enraged he is at Tybalt. His view of love has shifted, ridding his love of Juliet temporarily to choose hate. He blames love instead of praising it, saying it hast made (him) effeminate and weakened valour s shield . This words have negative connotations of being weak, timid and powerless, and so the hate surrounding the small love pushed Romeo to choose hate instead. The love just couldn t beat the hate in this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Psychosexual Stages And Societal Structure Psychosexual Stages and Societal Structure Nathanael D. Evans Montana State University Billings Abstract This paper assumes that Sigmund Freud s theory of psychosexual stages in childhood development is accurate. Given the information we have on Freud s idea of fixations, and their causes, I will explore how societal structure would need to shift towards an acute focus on childhood in order to eliminate as much abnormality as possible from the adulthood of all individuals that make up a society. I will also speculate on ideas for streamlining childhood development, by treating it as an assembly line process. My points will be highly figurative, as the implementation of the ideas contained herein would not be possible without removing rights from the populace. However, we must assume, in the spirit of this exercise, that implementation can occur, and that the theories being examined are accurate in all cases of abnormality. Psychosexual Stages and Societal Structure If we are to assume that the earliest experiences of an individual influence their later personality traits, then it should be assumed that the structure of our society should revolve around a universal set of guidelines for child rearing, so as to avoid abnormality in the individual in later life. On the larger scale, if all individuals are raised in identical fashion, societal structure would be uniform. Sigmund Freud referred to the stages of childhood development as psychosexual stages. Freud believed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. The Generation Of The New Generation The unknown future may be frightening, but knowing the Millennials are the next generation of leaders to change the world should be comforting. Millennials make up the population of society that was born between 1980 and 2000 and in America there are more millennials right now than baby boomers more than 80 million (Simmons Duffit). Just like every new generation, the Millennials have been endlessly criticized by older generations. They have been called lazy, entitled, self absorbed, social media crazed, technology addicts, privileged, and so much more. This generation change has drawn more public attention than ever before, maybe because of the access to widespread information nowadays or maybe because this time, it s a bigger deal. Millennials aren t afraid to address this topic because they believe that they can change the world for the better. They want the judgements in communities and the criticisms in the workplace to stop. They want society to realize they are not so different from generations before, they are already transforming life as we know it, and that they will soon be the next generation of leaders and nothing can change that. Although Millennials can be perceived in multiple negative aspects, older generations should be open to the unique potential that this massive generation has to offer as an opportunity to close the gap of separation and learn to grow from each other. One of the most common criticism of Millennials is their tendency to be lazy. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. The Epic Of Gilgamesh And The Ramayana In two ancient classics, we see a clear display of an abuse of power. In both The Epic of Gilgamesh and The Ramayana, we find protagonists who commit deeds of treachery in the name of slaying a monster. These slayings seem justified at first; however, as we examine them further we find that they are no more than heinous acts in the name of asserting power over the other. Both Gilgamesh and Rama kill monsters in the name of supporting what they believe in, but their beliefs are not always justified. When we closely examine the scenes of the monster slayings in both epics, we find that our that protagonists appear as power hungry war mongers and not the heroes that they claim to be. Both of these heroes kill in the name of supporting their own beliefs. For Rama, he kills in the name of subduing women s sexuality while Gilgamesh kills in the name of claiming resources, particularly cedar trees, for his own. Let s begin with one of the earliest stories ever written, The Epic of Gilgamesh. In this story, Gilgamesh is king of Uruk; he eventually meets his partner in crime Enkidu, who is a wild man created by the gods to keep Gilgamesh from becoming an oppressive king. After Gilgamesh and Enkidu duke it out and, naturally, become best friends; they decide to go on a conquest for some cedar trees like best all best friends do.
