I have a family of five, two brothers and two parents. My dad works for Ricoh, a
company that sells printers, copiers and software. He grew up in a Greek
household in northern Chicago. My mom started her own interior design business

Ever since you can remember, you have been attending school, either because your
parents said so, it s required by the government, or because you really want to further
your education. When senior year approaches your future is literally in your hands.
You are trying to decide which route to take. Should you take the route that most kids
take after graduation; college, or should you chose your own path. You began to
consider the cost, the effectiveness, and other problems associated with college
which makes you start to reconsider if college is actually worth it. You have to
decide whether to go to college, an alternative institute, or to get a job. Your
dreams are big and you know the chances of achieving them are less if you do not
receive a college degree. After all, a college degree is a life necessity, depending
on what your dreams are. Not everyone would agree with the sentence above,
especially Charles Murray. Charles Murray, a political scientist and author,
believes college is not for everyone. Murray himself writes, But while it is true that
the average person with a B.A. makes more than the average person without a B.A.,
getting a B.A. is still going to be the wrong economic decision for many high school

In our media rich society, we see advertisements every day. Their appearance
happens at numerous places ranging from cereal boxes to television screens, as well
as public buses. Most advertisement often conveys an unrealistic view of the product.
While it is a mass marketing technique to make the consumer buy the product, but
most of us believe whatever advertised is true without giving a second thought to it.
In our contemporary society, it has become very hard to escape the influence of such
advertisements. These advertisements affect us in shopping malls, while watching
televisions as well as in food places.
Advertising has enormous impact on us in shopping malls. Almost no trip to the
mall has ever been complete without our eyes catching few banners promoting a
brand s product. Mostly these advertisements associate certain roles and colors
with different genders. For example, in many advertisements pink color is often
linked with girls while blue color is often used in boy s outfit s promotions.
Furthermore, whenever we go toy shopping, we see two sections; one is pink
signifying girl section that is filled with dolls, makeup, and princes puzzles pieces.
The other is blue signifying boys section that has cars, action figures and toys only

These days in modern life, youth are exposed to violent media everywhere. The
police kill the bad guy; the heroes fight with the villain. In violent media, hero uses
violence to solve problems, good guys use violence to punish villain. This kind of
information has become more and more popular because people can receive strength,
excitement and fearless from violent media. It is not bad for adults to watch violent
movies, but violent movies have negative effects on youth. Furthermore, it is difficult
for parents to prevent their children from violent media, because it is everywhere
