Do Violent Video Games Have An Impact On A Person s...
Introduction People play video games mainly for entertainment. It s just like a hobby such as bike
riding, fishing, and swimming or playing sports. Video games are also a form of art through which
you can experience a story interactively and can also challenge you mentally through using problem
solving skills to work through difficult scenarios. Some video games are even designed to be a
fictional representation of life, allowing the player to experience or do things they would never be able
to do in real life. In a society where we are responsible for our own actions, individuals may wonder
whether these video games can have an influence on our actions. One of the main reasons that attract
people to certain games is the inclusion of violence. People become immersed in a world where they
are able to take risks and be able to break laws without suffering and harmful consequences that
reality or real life would serve. This report is about Do violent video games have an impact on a
person s behaviour? , Based on the information I collected, the following guiding questions will help
in concluding an answer to my research topic. The questions that mostly relate to my topic are the age
of people who play games, what do violent video games contain, gaming addiction and effects on
behaviour. Methodology I started off investigating my research by using the Internet and used my
mind map. My mind map help me developed my research questions that I used on to Google to search

American Victory Dbq
The american victory was a very long hard battle that the americans won with skill and fighting hard.
The american victory was because of a variety of reasons. They were hard fighters and wanted
freedom, they knew the most of their geography, they got aid from france and spain who provided
them troops and an army and they received the best training from french generals and george
washington. In this essay i will show you how they used geographic information and the aid from
spain and the french to win their freedom from britain as well as their courageous patriotic fighting
spirit Topic from yellow One reason why they won the war was because they had knowledge about the
geography of the colonies and they could use hills and other geographic features that the british didn t
know about to ambush them. The british were not trained to fight in the colonial terrain which was
very different from british terrain and they had no idea where to hide and it was a disadvantage. In the

The On Art World And Class Structure
Throughout history, it has always been argued that economic power affect art. By voluntary means, we
produce, trade, buy and sell our products that would benefit us in various ways. Economic power
allows people to exploit their resources in a free market. It has the ability to help others successfully
reach prosperity. Some philosophers claim economic power has a huge impact on art, whereas other
philosophers express a different opinion. Davis and Freeland believes economic power influences art,
but Todd disagrees. 9.5 Theses on Art and Class introduces a list of theories on art world and class
structure. Davis claims class exists in the art world because it is an important factor for art. He states,

Throughout the excerpt, Davis describe the differences between the ruling class, middle class and
working class. The ruling class is identified as a capitalist who has complete control over the realm of
visual arts. These superior individuals would mostly come from large corporations, including auction
houses and corporate collectors; art investors, private collectors, and patrons; and trustees and
administrators of large cultural institutions and universities (Davis 2). Additionally, the ruling class is
also capable of [subjugating], within the sphere of the arts, [and] other possible values of art (Davis 2).
They view art as a luxury good that strengthens their social status. In the art world, the ruling class is
at an advantageous position because they have the most power in all aspects. According to Davis he
writes, [with] craftsmanship or intellectual prestige [it] indicates [your] social status (Davis 2). The
more products you own, the greater your social status. The ruling class develop very little interest in
the art world and their only motive is to gather more power. Davis claims the working class [and
middle class] is controlled from above (Davis 4) for work. In a free market, the ruling class creates
challenges for the middle class and working class to compete with each other for artistic labor.
The middle class describes a person who uses their full potential to design individuality products for
self support. Unlike the ruling

Wonderland Madness
In the novella Alice s Adventures in Wonderland the themes Exploration, Madness, and Identity are
evident throughout. Throughout this essay, I will be telling you about the themes and how they link to
Alice.
Exploration is portrayed through Alice. Alice is a curious, young girl who lives in the Victorian times,
she loves exploring and has lots of energy. The first thing Alice explores is the rabbit hole. But Alice
wouldn t have explored the rabbit hole, if it had not have been for the White Rabbit. The White Rabbit
is in some ways the most important character, because without him, Alice wouldn t have gone into the
rabbit hole because she didn t know where it was or what it is, but because of the White Rabbit runs to
the hole, wearing a waistcoat and saying I m late, attracted Alice s attention, so Alice goes down the
rabbit hole, then Alice Explores Wonderland before waking up and finding out that it was all a dream.

Polymers Have Different Structures. They Also Have...
Polymers have different structures. They also have different functions. Describe how the structures of
different polymers relate to their function? Polymers a large molecules made up of a chain of smaller
molecules, known as monomers. The monomers that a polymer is made up of decide its structure and
therefore it s function. These monomers are linked and coiled in a very specific manor giving the
polymer a specific tertiary structure (an extensively coiled and linked polymer chain caused as a result
of the formation of more bonds forming). This tertiary structure is crucial to the function of a polymer
as it denotes the necessary shape of the complementary molecule. This is easier explained through an
example. An example of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Haemoglobin is just one of the many possible forms and functions of a protein polymer. They all have
different structures, which makes them specialised to carry out a particular function. For example
enzymes. They are roughly spherical in shape due to the tight folding of the polypeptide chains.
Enzymes play important roles in most biological processes, in particular metabolism and synthesis.
The tertiary structure of an enzyme is of particular importance to its function and a slight change in
the chain sequence and therefore it s shape can result in it becoming inactive. Enzymes work by
combining with a substrate to form an enzyme substrate complex, the substrate is then broken down
and released. Each enzyme has a particular substrate that is can breakdown, this will be the substrate
with the complimentary structure to that of the active site of the enzyme. For example starch is only
broken down by amylase. As the shape of the active site depends on the shape of the polymer shape so
does the over all function of the enzyme. Antibodies are involved in the immune response. They re
made up of two light polypeptide chains and two heavy polypeptide chains bonded together.
Antibodies have a variable region which acts in a similar way to the active site of an enzyme. Each
antibody has a variable region that is the complementary shape for a particular antigen and

Major Personality Differences Between Baldwin And Basinger
There were some major personality differences between Baldwin and Basinger. Alec is an extrovert,
whereas Kim is an introvert. The Myers Briggs personalities for Baldwin and Basinger show major
differences as well. Kim Basinger is an INTP logician and Baldwin is an ESTP Entrepreneur. Both
personality types have a tendency for insensitiveness and a lack of agreeableness, both of which can
put strain on a relationship. Kim and Alec both come across as very neurotic and both of them have
been reported to call the other narcissistic. (socion2.narod.ru, n.d.) (www.16personalities.com, 2011)

She relied very heavily on the advice of her lawyers during their divorce, rather than trying to settle
things more personally with Baldwin. I believe that in their case, the wrong kind of mediator was
brought in to help them settle their disputes. (ABC News, 2008) I believe that while lawyers were
necessary to some degree, it is very likely they manipulated the situation to gain more money. A better
mediator to start with would have been a couples counselor. If Baldwin and Basinger both had sat
down with a relationship/marriage counselor and discussed their issues, even though they might still
have gotten divorced, I believe it might have been made less painful and more productive. As it was,
there was a lot of anger and disagreeableness surrounding their divorce, as well as a rather hostile
climate in which to attempt conflict resolution. I also believe that a lot of the issues with their
relationship were caused by a great deal of self centeredness. I believe that they both were so
concerned with their own wants and need that they could not find common ground. They were also
very unwilling to compromise and had more dominating approaches to handling conflict. This made it
very hard for them to reach a positive conclusion to their conflict. The best alternatives I could
imagine for their situation are as follows. 1.) ideally, the two of them never get married to each other

Tim Burton
Inspired by Roald Dahl and Vincent Price, director Tim Burton is easily one of the most remarkable
and creative directors of his generation. Burton has a unique and individual way of challenging the
minds of viewers and attracting individuals to his films, and has been using this technique for over 30
years. His ways persuade the audience to change the mood they have toward the film. In the films
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Edward Scissorhands, and Big Fish Director Tim Burton uses
cinematic and editing techniques such as lighting, sound, and flashbacks in order to enhance the mood
and feelings of viewers.
Director Tim Burton uses lighting throughout his films in order to create a feeling of sorrow toward

One very important editing technique Burton uses in his films is flashbacks. Burton uses flashbacks in
order to build structure for the mood and feelings of the audience. An example of a flashback is in the
film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Burton uses flashbacks in the beginning of the film in order to
educate the viewer about the connection and relations that the Bucket family has had with Wonka and
his factory. The flashbacks showed Grandpa Joe working for Wonka before the terrible tragedy that is
the closing of the factory. The flashbacks educates you about how Wonka treated his workers, the
amazing things he did, and how the factory shut down. After viewing, you start to feel sad for Wanaka
because Grandpa Joe described him as a great and marvelous man with incredible ideas and
inventions, but jealousy got to the competitors forcing them to steal ideas and inventions Wonka
created, forcing him to shut down the factory. Burton also uses flashbacks to build structure for the
mood and feelings of the audience in the film Big Fish. He uses flashbacks to give you a glimpse of
the relationship Will has with his father. The flash backs told and showed the stories of Edward Bloom
and his adventures. They explained all the stories that will was told and gave you a clue on what the
relationship between them was like. A lot of what Edward said was true and because of that, the
flashbacks make the audience reconsider

History of the Holocaust Midterm Essays
1) Antisemitism, the hatred for the Jewish people, has been called the longest hatred in history. This
history is deep rooted and has existed for thousands of years, taking different forms throughout its
existence, and intensifying up until and through the Holocaust, to then diminish to an extent but still
be prevalent in most societies. Antisemitism exists in different forms, religious, ethnic, and political.
The presence of Christianity as the predominant religion in Europe can be noted as a driving factor in
religious and ethnic antisemitism, as can the Holocaust. Whereas instances such as the Islamic view
on Judaism can be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the text of the Old Testament, Jewish authorities treated Jesus and his followers with
hostility. Many Christians to this day, even though it has been proven not to be true, believe that Jesus
crucifixion was a direct result of the Jewish people. Christian antisemitism was born from a
misconception by Jesus followers that was then eternalized by being written in their bible. Christian
antisemitism would continue onward through the Crusades in which the persecution of the Jewish
people reached an all time high in Europe, where communities were destroyed, Jewish people were
killed, and others were expelled from their lands. Many stereotypes for Jewish people arose from this
period because they were restricted to specific inferior occupations by the Christian authorities such as
tax collectors and moneylenders. This early on compulsory requirement to wear a yellow star began in
certain parts of Europe. Racial antisemitism was born in the Nineteenth Century when laws were
passed in many European countries posing the Jewish people as second class citizens, not receiving
the same rights as others in society. While they had reached a level of religious emancipation in some
countries, Judaism had become recognized as an ethnicity as well, and this ethnic difference from the
Aryans therefore made them inferior. Pogroms began across Eastern Europe in the late 1800 s which
resulted in

Protein Butterfly Journey
My Journey to Become A Protein Butterfly
By: Courtney Hofer
Hello, my name is Kelly the protein. I am going to tell you my story how I came to be a beautiful
protein butterfly. There are two different process of becoming a protein butterfly;they are translation
and transcription.
Has I was going to say the first one is translation. Translation is where I made a twin mRNA molecule
in the nucleus of an eukaryotic from a DNA.There were four adventures I went on during translation.
My adventures begins in the RNA enzyme combining the DNA and aparting the two nucleotide chain.
After I went through that adventure, one nucleotide chain of the DNA works as a form for fixing them
together into the mRNA. My third journey through this process was when ... Show more content on

adventure begins when a ribosome comes together to an mRNA in the cell s cytoplasm. Then on my
journey my BFF codon goes throught the ribosome, tRNA shares with the amino acid to the ribosome.
My other friend anticolon does a great job of putting three nitrogenous bases in tRNA to help the
codon in mRNA. My third adventure was where tRNA bring a type of amino acid; then she breaks the
code in the mRNA into a guide of amino acids. Following is my second to last adventure was when
my friend ribosome and rRNA makes the amino acid together. My last adventure was the funnest
because this is the part where I turned into a protein butterfly. :) Here is how the ending goes: My
other friend protein chain goes raises til the ribosome gets a end codon on the rRNA. After that
ribosome leaves equally mRNA and me the protein

How Advertisers Target Children
Why does advertising exist in the first place? Why have them around if some or the majority of people

being exposed to plenty more advertisements than ever before because they re everywhere. Whether at
school, online, or wherever you are you can see an advertisement. It s Just like you can t escape them.

Repetition involves simply repeating the same commercial message over and over. The idea is that

evidence is Celebrity Endorsement. Celebrity Endorsements also helps sell products. Athletes are
depicted on cereal boxes and appear onscreen wearing and using specific athletic clothes and gear.
Children who like these celebrities are expected to purchase these products. These two quotes are
evidence because these quotes shows different ways advertisers reach out to children. The first quote
is persuasive because people will think if this advertisement for this product is repeating itself, then it
must be good. As for the second quote, it shows someone That people can look up to, so if the
celebrity says it s good, then people will buy the product. Using advertising techniques is final way

A Lot Of People See Gun Control In Every Way, Shape And
A lot of people see gun control in every way, shape and form as taking a bit of our freedom away.
Others do not have an issue with gun control. Gun control is an issue of safety, education, race, and
politics. Most gun owning Americans believe that just because certain people do not know how to use
their freedom of having control over their own guns does not mean everyone else should have their
freedom of gun control and ownership taken away by liberal politicians, most who have not even
owned or shot a gun in their whole entire life. The Second Amendment of the United States
Constitutions says that the people have the right to bear arms and it is not to be infringed. There is a

Therefore, when a person is going to commit a crime upon someone they might think twice about
what they are going to do, because they have no idea if that person is carrying a gun or not. The
United States has become very restrictive when granting a person to own guns. Certain states have
come up with the Shall Issue law, which prevents anyone to own, or carry firearms if that person has a
criminal record with a felony or has a mental disorder. Many states even require a permit to carry a
concealed gun in public.
Most people learn about responsibility during their childhood and what they learn reflects what they
do and how they act when they get older and become adults. Children that live in a good household
tend to have better understandings of life and respect other people and their lives. Children would also
have a better idea of recreation, for example hunting, and for a mean of protection from criminals. On
the other hand, the children who grow up in problematic homes and that have uncaring parents, who
are usually criminals themselves, tend to turn to crime. They are just doing what they believe is right,
since that is how they were raised. So, we need to educate children about the potential dangers of
firearms if they are not respected and treated with care.
Most Americans who believe that more guns equal more crime are afraid of the people who carry guns

Maya Lin Vietnam Veteran Memorial Analysis
When one listens to Anne Wagner telling history about the Vietnam Veteran Memorial Creation that
Maya Lin created and designed, it assist one in appreciating and understanding her work. This is
because Maya Lin used natural material as well as recyclable substances to address environmental
issues that people could easily recognize. As an artist, environmentalist as well as sculptor, she carved
haunting and beautiful imagery to represent the results of environment destruction. Maya Lin won
Vietnam veterans memorial competition since she created a wound on the earth to account for the loss
of soldiers as well as the gravity of the war in Vietnam but unfortunately the design became
controversial. I understand that Maya Lin defended the design and finished and as a result, it the most
appreciated and visited memorial. I appreciate her effort to defend her design from prominent
Politicians and businessmen harassment to have the memorial set up. I trust that her choice to
communicate through art is effective especially when using environment since it is a language that is
simply understood globally. When one view her work that is of environmental concern it gives the

Adaption Means Survival in Elie Wiesel s Night and...
Charles Darwin, the famous evolutionist, once wrote: In the struggle for survival, the fittest win out at
the expense of their rivals because they succeed in adapting themselves best to their environment. It
was this message that Elie Wiesel learned during his captivity in World War II and incorporated into
his novel, Night . It was also this message that William Golding tried to express through the scenario
of his magnum opus, Lord of the Flies . Though, in both their novels, there was another message, an
idea first realized by the great psychologist and philosopher Sigmund Freud. The idea was that when
man is taken away from civilization, his instincts (the id) will overpower his conscience (super ego)
and man will return to their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first of the 2 novels is Night, in this novel; it is often shown through out the book that in times of
need, people are willing to turn on one another. By seeing how Eliezer s views about his father
changed in the novel, it is proven that Eliezer began to focus more on surviving and desires than some
of the important things like family thus proving that the evil change that Eliezer went was in fact
nothing more than him falling back onto his more primitive beliefs of focusing on living by instinct
and desire. The first of the two quotes to prove that is here: He slapped my father with such force that
he fell down and then crawled back to his place on all fours. I stood petrified. What had happened to
me? My father had just been struck, in front of me, and I had not even blinked. I had watched and kept
silent. Only yesterday, I would have dug my nails into this criminal s flesh. Had I changed so much?
(Wiesel 39) This quote is from Eliezer s first moments in Auschwitz. And from this quote, we know
that it also marks the beginning of Eliezer s steadily decreasing lack of sympathy for others for he had
already began his descent to using his primitive instincts. This quote though, is extremely enlightening
when compared to the thesis. This would be because this quote illustrates the fact that Eliezer

American Airlines Airplane Crash
The first flight to be reviewed is United Airlines flight 173, that left from JFK Airport, N.Y. on
December 28th, 1978. Its destination was Portland, Oregon, but had one stop in Denver, Colorado
along the route. The aircraft type was a DC 8 and that day had onboard one hundred and eighty nine
passengers, 6 infants and eight crewmembers. The start of the flight was without incident, and it was
documented that the fuel required to get to Portland was 31,900 lbs., on departing out of Denver they
had 46,700 lbs. of fuel onboard. Again, they departed in route to Oregon with no incident until a flight

were not really listening. With the captain focusing mainly on the landing gear scenario, the issue of
the fuel and needing to land was not an important factor in his mind at that time. The aircraft then
started to lose engines due to the starvation of fuel, after the number three engine went out the captain
decided to attempt to land the aircraft. Unfortunately, they did not make it to the airport, it crashed into
a suburban wooded area of Portland. There was no fire, and not only was the aircraft totally destroyed,
homes and power lines were also. The crash site was 130 feet wide and 1,554 feet long, two
crewmembers and eight passengers died, the rest suffered serious and slight injuries (Ranter,

If a man killed in such a situation, he was viewed as blameworthy but not deserving of the mandatory
death sentence for murder (Toole, 2015). The loss of self control is not literal. If a person suffers a
harsh physical or psychological blow they can literally lose total control. If this happens, they are
acting as an automaton and their actions are not voluntary and can t entice criminal liability. The loss
of control in provocation refers to a state where self control would have been challenging, but not
impossible.
Provocation has already been abolished in Tasmania, Victoria, Western Australia and New Zealand. In
the Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory, the defence has been modified so that a
non violent sexual advance cannot, without additional factors, constitute provocation. In New South
Wales, non violent sexual advance cannot provide a basis for provocation, and any other provocation
must be extreme (Toole, 2015). The law had been abolished in these jurisdictions due to the unjust use
of the defence that caused public outrage. The law was abolished in 2005 in Victoria due to the

Global Warming And Its Effects On The Environment Essay
There s no argument about it now, global warming exists and is a problem. More and more people are
becoming concerned with greenhouse gases effects on the environment as well as humans effects on
the environment through our carbon footprint. Many activities humans participate in help add to the
greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and increase the size and the effect of the carbon footprint
humanity is leaving behind. The carbon footprint is the amount of carbon the humans create as waste
through many processes such as the burning of fossil fuels and more. Recycling is one of the first
ideas used to combat pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. However, many people still argue
recycling s effectiveness and whether the processes are helping and if the processes are worth the
money. Recycling helps reduce the carbon footprint by reusing multiple types of materials, reducing
greenhouse gas emissions, as well as creating alternative sources of energy. Recycling s main idea is
to reuse materials from past products that were already created and are no longer used or just the
simple reuse of a product the way it is. The recycling of old materials reduces the need to create or
harvest raw materials in which both of those processes release large amounts of greenhouse gases.
Most people know of recycling paper and plastic, but many more types of materials can be reused like
metals and textiles. B. Zamani, M. Svanström, G. Peters, and T. Rydberg (2015) state that the reuse of

Driving Fast Essay
What is Driving Faster US Economic Growth? According to the latest live Q4 real GDP growth
forecast courtesy of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, the US economy is expected to expand
+3.3% during the current quarter. Should this expectation prevail, then the economy will have enjoyed
three successive quarters of GDP growth in excess of 3%, the first occurrence since 2004 H2 and 2005
Q1. The biggest difference between the aforementioned period and the current environment is the
underlying strength of real final sales. Currently, real final sales are averaging +2.8% over the past
three quarters, while this metric was a more robust +3.6% during the 2004 H2 and 2005 Q1 period.

Meanwhile, the Conference Board s measure of consumer confidence recently reached its highest
level since December 2000, which, incidentally, coincided with the peak of the 1991 2000 economic
expansion. Furthermore, much of the improvement is attributable to current conditions versus the
anticipated backdrop six months hence. Currently, perceptions about abundant job availability have
reached their highest levels since the summer of 2001. Historically, there has been a close correlation
between wage inflation and perceptions of job availability. There is, however, a disconnection
between the two during the current cycle, because wage inflation still appears reluctant to breach +3%.
Despite the apparent lack of upward pressure on nominal wages, consumer confidence has been rising.
This dichotomy is probably explained by the low level of the so called misery index (the summation
of consumer price inflation and the unemployment rate). Moreover, real wage gains have been
positive due to the persistence of low inflation and this probably explains why, despite modest
nominal wage gains, consumers feel more upbeat. This situation could, however, change if inflation
rises, thereby pushing inflation adjusted changes in labour compensation into negative territory.
Upbeat US Consumers Appear to Ignore Political Backdrop The 2016 Presidential Election

The 2011 London riots had many implications for society especially for young people; this essay
seeks to analytically and critically discuss young offenders involved, using social exclusion and social

offer an understanding of social exclusion and social justice. The implications of social exclusion and

Social exclusion has made major influence on politics from the late 1990s (Stephenson 2007).
Secrétaire d Etat a l Action sociale of the French government, René Lenoir is said to have used the
term social exclusion in publications over twenty five years ago. Since then has had a major impact on
explanations of individuals who feel separated from society especially through poverty and
deprivation (Sen, 2000). Silver (1995) also suggests that individuals who feel socially excluded may
be lacking of basic needs of livelihood and but not limited to, participating in democratic agendas. The
term Social Justice can be traced back to the twentieth century where the pursuit began by individuals,
communities and societies, some argue that perhaps the fight for social justice maybe ending (Miller,
1999). Robert Merton s work had major influence on the school of functionalism, especially in
America during the 1940s and 1950s especially as functionalism was mainly concerned with social
order (Tierney, 1996). Merton s focus was crime and deviance even though he was not a criminologist;
his ideas were first published in 1993 in an article titled Social structure and anomie which illustrated
his connection to Durkheim. A book called Social theory and social structure was later published
which discussed strain theory, the first attempt to answer the prominent question of how society
impacts individuals to act in a deviant / criminal manner.

African American Racism
Since African Americans came into America they have been looked at as unequal. From 1619 1865
Whites controlled African Americans in slavery. Within slavery, African Americans were overworked,
abused, and sold. Even when slavery ended it was not the end of discrimination. African Americans
dealt with Jim Crow laws with which were state and local laws in the United States enacted between
1876 and 1965. An example of these laws would be It shall be unlawful for a negro and white person
to play together or in company with each other at any game of pool or billiards . All of this
discrimination still affects society today 152 years later. African Americans are still affected today by
past discrimination. An example of this would be according to the U.S. Census African Americans are
three times more likely than Whites to live in an impoverished household. Many neighborhoods are
predominantly one race within it, to live in the city is seen more as an African American trait while
living in the suburbs is considered White. Nothing can fix the discrimination in the past but America
has made efforts to help end it these efforts include affirmative action as well as the 13th, 14th, and
15th amendments. Although nothing can fix the horrendous acts of discrimination, the United States
has progressively gotten better to end it.

The Emergence Of Italian Nationalism
The emergence of Italian nationalism began in the Renaissance Era and was then encouraged by key
Italian figures, leading to the unification of Italy which was overall beneficial for the country.
(mention benefits for Italy and how it is today)
Before unification, Italy was a collection of different independent states. The Italian Wars, which went
on from 1494 to 1559, were fought for the control of these Italian states by European powers. The
most consistently fought over city states in Italy were Naples, Florence, Venice, Sicily, and the Papal
State of Rome. Many European powers were involved in the beginning, but soon the wars became a
struggle between mainly France and Spain. While the Italian Wars were harsh on Italy, they helped to
spread the Italian Renaissance throughout Western Europe. The Renaissance Era began a new way of
thinking, which has been traced to the beginnings of Italian nationalism, which has contributed to the
Unification of Italy.
The Italian Wars began in 1494, when Charles VIII of France invaded Italy, and in 1495 conquered
Naples. When challenged by Spain, the Roman Emperor, the pope, Venice, and Milan, France was
forced to retreat. Charles VIII successor, Louis XII had control over Milan and Genoa in 1499. The
second Italian War occurred when Louis then gained control of Naples by getting permission from
Pope Alexander VI, and agreeing to share it with Ferdinand V of Spain. This resulted in disagreements
between France and Spain

The Lincoln Electric Company Essay
The Lincoln Electric Company was founded in 1895 by John C. Lincoln, who then partnered with his
younger brother James in 1907. The focus of the company originally was manufacturing electric
motors, which then expanded to include battery chargers and in the early 1900 s to portable welding
machines. (Lincoln Electric, 2016) The company was founded originally on a construct of Christian
values, which may have played a role in creating the dominant culture of the corporation. (Sharplin)
This paper presents an evaluative analysis of the business case study presented by Arthur Sharplin,
with a focus on determining the overall corporate culture of Lincoln Electric categorically.
John and James Lincoln professed to be devout Christians and embodied their faith in their treatment
of their employees early on in the company. While a clear hierarchy and protection of management
control was evident in their organizational structure, they ensured that employees had regular access to
the management team both formally and informally. Management roles may have been protected and
controlled but they were seen strictly as tasks to perform just as every other employee was assigned
their tasks. In this respect the workplace was and remains designed strictly around function, no perks
exist for management that do not exist for every employee. (Sharplin) This example points to the
importance of a people oriented culture in the workplace and is almost egalitarian in nature. (Flat

Blaiming the Paparazzi
In 1997, Princess Diana died in a car crash in Paris, which was blamed on the paparazzi that were
chasing her. Because the accident happened in France, no British charges can be laid against the
photographers. However, nine were charged with manslaughter in France, but the charges were thrown
out in 2002. Three photographers Jacques Langevin, Christian Martinez and Fabrice Chassery were
convicted of invasion of privacy for taking pictures of Princess Diana and were each fined one euro in
2006. Of course it is obvious that the public is intensely curious to know more about celebrities, but
don t you think celebrities have the right to be private?
First of all, let us define who the paparazzi are and what they do for a living. A paparazzo is a
photographer who takes pictures of athletes, actors, celebrities, politicians etc... on a daily basis. As a
matter of fact, paparazzi s tend to chase celebrities wherever they go. Whether it was to the Academy

the limits and are becoming more likely bizarre. They are competing against each other and are trying
to have the best exposed pictures of celebrities they could get at any cost. They don t care if they hurt
or stress celebrities. They simply want to be the best.

Leadership Style Of Leadership Styles Essay
Most individuals probably feel as if they know enough about leadership to speak on the subject. In
many cases, however, this is not truly the case at all. Leadership is a broad concept, and there are
several different styles and approaches to consider when studying the topic. It is important to consider
these styles and approaches when evaluating the effectiveness, or lack thereof, of any particular form
of leadership. With that in mind, this essay will consider the leadership styles of two leaders who are
involved in the current presidential election process. Jill Stein, the Green Party candidate, and Gary
Johnson, the Libertarian nominee each utilize different leadership styles, though, the two operate
within the same professional arena. That said, the two candidates share the same battle of being
outsider candidates struggling to gain notoriety and momentum from a portion of the voting
population no longer willing to support mainstream political candidates. This essay begins with a
theoretical discussion of leadership and then focuses on the two political leaders, comparing and
contrasting each one. This will allow for conclusions to be drawn about how they both work within
the same public sphere, while employing different styles to earn votes.
Leadership, according to John Kotter, is about coping with change (Kotter, 1990, p. 4). By this
definition, leadership can be considered the product of change and the different ways that response to

Article Report On A Police Officer
Orlando W. Wilson and Roy C. McLaren wrote that Almost everything that a police officer does must
be reduced to writing . As a police officer you re largely evaluated based on your written report skills.
As an officer of the law you must be able to do your job well, and within the extent of the law (Hess
Orthmann, 2013). Not only that but the officer must be able to correctly record information and
present it to those who were not there. 20 percent of an officer s time is spent writing reports (Hess
Orthmann, 2013). It s not just skilled investigating tactics that brings a criminal to justice, it is also the
ability of the investigator to written a report that will withstand the scrutiny of judges, prosecutors,
defense counsels, and jurors. An officers report has the ability to determine whether or not the guilty
goes free. It s the job of the supervisor to decide if the investigating officer followed the correct
protocols and policies of the department. However, whether your report is being read by your
supervisor; lawyers, social workers, judges, citizens, or the media, it should be easily comprehendible
across the board. Most of the time, those reading your report will not have been present at the scene. It
is the job of the officer to write a report that effectively communicate the who, what, where, when, and
how to a general audience. You should never speak down on your audience, or try to make our report

Diedrich Knickerbocker Essay
Diedrich Knickerbocker Washington Irving created a pseudo historian for the purpose of bettering his
own work and to entertain his readers. In 1809 Irving wrote A History of New York through a persona
known as Diedrich Knickerbocker. This was Knickerbocker s first appearance in Irving s work, but it
sure wouldn t be his last. Although he was not real, Knickerbocker was a historian that seemed to be in
love with the people and landscape of the northeast, particularly New York. Even though Irving never

Another story that was found among the papers of Diedrich Knickerbocker was The Legend of Sleepy
Hollow. Both of these stories are tall tales that Irving wrote as entertainment for his readers, but he
mentioned in both that these were stories told to Knickerbocker by people of Dutch origin, he made
sure that the reader knew that. In both of these stories Irving describes the incredible scenery of New
York, and he also describes the kindness and simplicity of the Dutch people. In Rip Van Winkle he
says he happened upon a genuine Dutch family, snugly shut up in its low roofed farmhouse, under a
spreading sycamore (Irving 573). He also describes a great mountain setting in New York When the
weather is fair and settled, they are clothed in blue and purple, and print their bold outlines on the
clear evening sky; but, sometimes, when the rest of the landscape is cloudless, they will gather a hood
of gray vapors about their summits, which, in the last rays of the setting sun, will glow and light up
like a crown of glory. Diedrich Knickerbocker s conception of authorship was heroic. The business of
writing was a perilous enterprise, and only those who were dauntless and daring could succeed in their
quest for fame. Writers were intrepid knights who courageously confronted all difficulties and

Jamestown Vs Chesapeake Essay
Chesapeake is similar to Jamestown, in a few ways both had many changes in political systems, grew
tobacco as a cash crop, used slaves, and were Christian. They were also different, of course, as the
political systems they each went through were not the same, Jamestown traded with the natives
throughout its lifetime (while the Chesapeake only did initially), they had different denominations of
Christianity, and different physical settlements. With many similarities these two colonies were alike
overall. However, their smaller differences set them apart in a variety of ways.
Both colonies changed political systems and powers throughout their lifetimes sometimes the change
was necessary, other times it was for the benefit of those in power, ... Show more content on

However, they were different denominations of Christianity, partial thanks to the different political
systems. From the beginning of the Chesapeake colony, the colonists were a mix of Protestants and
Catholics, as the colony was a proprietorship, not a royal colony. With its growth, the number of
Protestants rose, even though Lord Baltimore would ve like a completely Catholic colony. The route
he chose to protect the minority Catholics was to allow anyone to practice their religion, so long as
they believed in Jesus. This is similar to values in America today though it was more restricted in
Chesapeake at the time, it was one of the colonies that started the idea of religious freedom.
Jamestown was comprised of settlers of the Anglican faith, the official religion of the English at the
time. This was most likely due to it being a royal colony, and one of the first ones at that so the people
chosen to become colonists were faithful representatives of the country. Their physical settlements
were also different Jamestown was a small village surrounded by a wall. This type of settlement was
used because they didn t know what to expect and protect themselves from, and didn t think they
needed to farm for their survival (expecting to trade with the natives). Chesapeake quickly developed
into a rural colony, though, with farms spread far apart from one another. Using farming as a large
food and profit source, they grew foods like corn and

Using Furniture Or Adult For Support
By one year old they are beginning to crawl or shuffle, pulling or pushing on furniture to stand and
then cruise using furniture or adult for support. Sitting has progressed to unaided and they are rolling
from their front to their back. They are beginning to be inquisitive with objects, passing them between
hands, handling them in different ways and looking for things that are hiding. Their hand to eye co
ordination improves as items are passed from hand to hand. Their first teeth may start to appear and
solid foods may start to be introduced. Between one and two years walking will begin and toys will
start to be pulled/pushed along whilst walking. Objects will be picked up and banged together or built
to make a small tower. A preference for one hand may start to appear as they begin to hold crayons etc
when mark making on paper. They enjoy trying to feed themselves both with finger foods and with a
spoon, and will drink from a cup with both hands. Waving goodbye becomes fun, they will begin to
point to what they want and shake their head to mean †̃noâ€TM. At 4 years boys gross motor skills
tend to be more developed when it comes to throwing and aiming, building, climbing, pedalling etc,
whereas girls fine motor skills tend to be more developed with the use of scissors, holding a pencil to
draw and colour threading small beads sewing stitches etc. At 5 years children will have more pencil
control and will begin to copy letters and shapes, and draw people. Ball games

Gender Stereotypes In The Film And Television Industry
For decades, variations of the same gender stereotypes like, boys don t cry, Damsel in distress or You
fight like a girl have been embedded in the minds of many children while growing up. According to
recent studies, 66% of children these days have watched television, and the television viewing starts as
young as 9 months old (Conrad). Children at this age have malleable minds, which are greatly affected
by these stereotypes. Therefore, gender stereotypes in the film and television industry negatively
influence children s social development. These stereotypes impact a child s mind and changes their
behaviour towards the opposite gender, lowers their self esteem, and hinders their true personality
traits.
Regardless of economic status, in countries around the world gender stereotypes have created a sexist
mindset and almost everyone has accepted them with open arms. These stereotypes cause the tension
between the genders in many ways. These ranging from young boys bullied for having feminine traits
to as extreme as women being sexually assaulted. In the famous words of Madame de Staël, The
desire of the man is for the woman, but the desire of the woman is for the desire of the man (Rowley).
We can see this in all the movies where men are portrayed to be the dominant figures who hold power
over women and according to 2016 Statistics the statistics of women as sole protagonists in the top
100 movies in 2016 were as low as 29% ( 2016 Statistics ). Not only do men

Fleetwood Mac s Rumours ( 1977 )
Fleetwood Mac s Rumours (1977)
The birth of the legendary British rock band, Fleetwood Mac, goes as far back to 1967 when their
musical origins first sprouted. The idea behind the band s name was pretty simple; Fleetwood Mac is
the conjunction of two singers names, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie. Soon after the band s
establishment their popularity gradually grew in Britain. Fleetwood Mac s quick popularity made their
future success foreseeable. Without a surprise, their first debut album made it to Britain s top charts
for thirteen months straight (RollingStone.com). However, the band s biggest success was emphasized
by Rumours in 1977. Fleetwood Mac s Rumours exemplify use of important production techniques,
iconic pieces of artistry, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Commercially speaking, album sells have not stopped and have instead steadily increased. In present
years, such as by 2000, Fleetwood Mac had sold more than 100 million copies of its album including
25 million [copies] for Rumours alone making it one of the most popular rock bands in history
(Landslidetribute.com). It is currently still the sixth best selling album with about 40 million copies
sold.
Influences such as pop music also helped to shape Rumours as a whole. Such music influence was that
of Alt rock era embraced via Billy Corgan and Courtney Love, [to the] harmonies and Cho ogling of
Bonnie Prince Billy and earthier ends of the Beach House (pitchfork.com). When folks first heard the
album they became captivated and inspired by it. Ken Caillat also brought Rumours to the surface as
he took lead in co engineering the album. He provided long hours of labor and experimented with the
album s style and vibes. He assisted in such way that he transferred previous drum tracks that would
later be used in the master album track.
In retrospect, it s a miracle that we were able to finish Rumours, Ken Caillat said. But later, I came to
understand that Rumours probably succeeded because it was brilliant group therapy. ... It s horrible
that if it hadn t been for all of the relationship turmoil in the band, you wouldn t know this record any
better than some of the previous Fleetwood Mac records (CNN.com).
An interesting production choice that

Ninety Five Theses
In this essay i m going to be writing about the ninety five theses. The Ninety Five Theses question the
Catholic Church s practice of selling indulgences and view skeptically the notion that a papal pardon
rather than penance or genuine contrition can achieve forgiveness of sins. Luther argued that
Christians were being falsely told that they could obtain absolution for souls in purgatory by buying
indulgences.
All Saints Church in Wittenberg, Saxony in the Holy Roman Empire, locally known as the Castle
Church Schlosskirche, where the Ninety Five Theses famously appeared, held one of Europe s largest
collections of holy relics. These had been piously collected by Frederick III of Saxony. At that time,
pious veneration of relics supposedly allowed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Albert of Mainz, the Archbishop of Mainz in Germany, had borrowed heavily to pay for his high
church rank and was deeply in debt. He agreed to allow the sale of the indulgences in his territory in
exchange for a cut of the proceeds. Luther was apparently not aware of this. Even though Luther s
prince, Frederick III, and the prince of the neighboring territory, George, Duke of Saxony, forbade the
sale thereof in their respective lands, people in Wittenberg traveled to purchase them. When these
people came to confession, they presented their plenary indulgences for which they paid, claiming
they no longer had to repent of their sins, since the document promised to forgive all their sins. Luther
was outraged that they had paid money for what was theirs by right as a free gift from God. He felt
compelled to expose the fraud that was being sold to the people. This exposure was to take place in
the form of a public scholarly debate at the University of Wittenberg. The Ninety Five Theses outlined
the items to be discussed and issued the challenge to any and all

It s just like a hobby such as bike riding, fishing, and swimming or playing sports. Video games are also a form of art through which you can experience a story interactively and can also challenge you mentally through using problem solving skills to work through difficult scenarios. Some video games are even designed to be a fictional representation of life, allowing the player to experience or do things they would never be able to do in real life. In a society where we are responsible for our own actions, individuals may wonder whether these video games can have an influence on our actions. One of the main reasons that attract people to certain games is the inclusion of violence. People become immersed in a world where they are able to take risks and be able to break laws without suffering and harmful consequences that reality or real life would serve. This report is about Do violent video games have an impact on a person s behaviour? , Based on the information I collected, the following guiding questions will help in concluding an answer to my research topic. The questions that mostly relate to my topic are the age of people who play games, what do violent video games contain, gaming addiction and effects on behaviour. • 6. The On Art World And Class Structure Throughout history, it has always been argued that economic power affect art. By voluntary means, we produce, trade, buy and sell our products that would benefit us in various ways. Economic power allows people to exploit their resources in a free market. It has the ability to help others successfully reach prosperity. Some philosophers claim economic power has a huge impact on art, whereas other philosophers express a different opinion. Davis and Freeland believes economic power influences art, but Todd disagrees. 9.5 Theses on Art and Class introduces a list of theories on art world and class structure. Davis claims class exists in the art world because it is an important factor for art. He states, Since different classes have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the excerpt, Davis describe the differences between the ruling class, middle class and working class. The ruling class is identified as a capitalist who has complete control over the realm of visual arts. These superior individuals would mostly come from large corporations, including auction houses and corporate collectors; art investors, private collectors, and patrons; and trustees and administrators of large cultural institutions and universities (Davis 2). Additionally, the ruling class is also capable of [subjugating], within the sphere of the arts, [and] other possible values of art (Davis 2). They view art as a luxury good that strengthens their social status. In the art world, the ruling class is at an advantageous position because they have the most power in all aspects. According to Davis he writes, [with] craftsmanship or intellectual prestige [it] indicates [your] social status (Davis 2). The more products you own, the greater your social status. The ruling class develop very little interest in the art world and their only motive is to gather more power. Davis claims the working class [and middle class] is controlled from above (Davis 4) for work. In a free market, the ruling class creates challenges for the middle class and working class to compete with each other for artistic labor. The middle class describes a person who uses their full potential to design individuality products for self support. Unlike the ruling ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout this essay, I will be telling you about the themes and how they link to Alice. Exploration is portrayed through Alice. Alice is a curious, young girl who lives in the Victorian times, she loves exploring and has lots of energy. The first thing Alice explores is the rabbit hole. But Alice wouldn t have explored the rabbit hole, if it had not have been for the White Rabbit. The White Rabbit is in some ways the most important character, because without him, Alice wouldn t have gone into the rabbit hole because she didn t know where it was or what it is, but because of the White Rabbit runs to the hole, wearing a waistcoat and saying I m late, attracted Alice s attention, so Alice goes down the rabbit hole, then Alice Explores Wonderland before waking up and finding out that it was all a dream. Describe how the structures of different polymers relate to their function? Polymers a large molecules made up of a chain of smaller molecules, known as monomers. The monomers that a polymer is made up of decide its structure and therefore it s function. These monomers are linked and coiled in a very specific manor giving the polymer a specific tertiary structure (an extensively coiled and linked polymer chain caused as a result of the formation of more bonds forming). This tertiary structure is crucial to the function of a polymer as it denotes the necessary shape of the complementary molecule. This is easier explained through an example. An example of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Haemoglobin is just one of the many possible forms and functions of a protein polymer. They all have different structures, which makes them specialised to carry out a particular function. For example enzymes. They are roughly spherical in shape due to the tight folding of the polypeptide chains. Enzymes play important roles in most biological processes, in particular metabolism and synthesis. The tertiary structure of an enzyme is of particular importance to its function and a slight change in the chain sequence and therefore it s shape can result in it becoming inactive. Enzymes work by combining with a substrate to form an enzyme substrate complex, the substrate is then broken down and released. Each enzyme has a particular substrate that is can breakdown, this will be the substrate with the complimentary structure to that of the active site of the enzyme. For example starch is only broken down by amylase. As the shape of the active site depends on the shape of the polymer shape so does the over all function of the enzyme. Antibodies are involved in the immune response. They re made up of two light polypeptide chains and two heavy polypeptide chains bonded together. Antibodies have a variable region which acts in a similar way to the active site of an enzyme. Each antibody has a variable region that is the complementary shape for a particular antigen and ... A better mediator to start with would have been a couples counselor. If Baldwin and Basinger both had sat down with a relationship/marriage counselor and discussed their issues, even though they might still have gotten divorced, I believe it might have been made less painful and more productive. As it was, there was a lot of anger and disagreeableness surrounding their divorce, as well as a rather hostile climate in which to attempt conflict resolution. I also believe that a lot of the issues with their relationship were caused by a great deal of self centeredness. I believe that they both were so concerned with their own wants and need that they could not find common ground. They were also very unwilling to compromise and had more dominating approaches to handling conflict. This made it very hard for them to reach a positive conclusion to their conflict. According to the text of the Old Testament, Jewish authorities treated Jesus and his followers with hostility. Many Christians to this day, even though it has been proven not to be true, believe that Jesus crucifixion was a direct result of the Jewish people. Christian antisemitism was born from a misconception by Jesus followers that was then eternalized by being written in their bible. Christian antisemitism would continue onward through the Crusades in which the persecution of the Jewish people reached an all time high in Europe, where communities were destroyed, Jewish people were killed, and others were expelled from their lands. Many stereotypes for Jewish people arose from this period because they were restricted to specific inferior occupations by the Christian authorities such as tax collectors and moneylenders. This early on compulsory requirement to wear a yellow star began in certain parts of Europe. Racial antisemitism was born in the Nineteenth Century when laws were passed in many European countries posing the Jewish people as second class citizens, not receiving the same rights as others in society. While they had reached a level of religious emancipation in some countries, Judaism had become recognized as an ethnicity as well, and this ethnic difference from the Aryans therefore made them inferior. Certain states have come up with the Shall Issue law, which prevents anyone to own, or carry firearms if that person has a criminal record with a felony or has a mental disorder. It was also this message that William Golding tried to express through the scenario of his magnum opus, Lord of the Flies . The first of the two quotes to prove that is here: He slapped my father with such force that he fell down and then crawled back to his place on all fours. I stood petrified. What had happened to me? My father had just been struck, in front of me, and I had not even blinked. I had watched and kept silent. Only yesterday, I would have dug my nails into this criminal s flesh. Had I changed so much? Over the years this defence has undergone changes through interpretation in cases and through legislative amendments. Provocation; a totally flawed defence that has no place in Australia criminal law irrespective of sentencing regime . These are the words of Andrew Hemming, a Senior Lecturer of Law within the School of Law and Justice at University of Southern Queensland. If this happens, they are acting as an automaton and their actions are not voluntary and can t entice criminal liability. The loss of control in provocation refers to a state where self control would have been challenging, but not impossible. Provocation has already been abolished in Tasmania, Victoria, Western Australia and New Zealand. In the Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory, the defence has been modified so that a non violent sexual advance cannot, without additional factors, constitute provocation. In New South Wales, non violent sexual advance cannot provide a basis for provocation, and any other provocation must be extreme (Toole, 2015). • 22. Global Warming And Its Effects On The Environment Essay There s no argument about it now, global warming exists and is a problem. More and more people are becoming concerned with greenhouse gases effects on the environment as well as humans effects on the environment through our carbon footprint. Many activities humans participate in help add to the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and increase the size and the effect of the carbon footprint humanity is leaving behind. The carbon footprint is the amount of carbon the humans create as waste through many processes such as the burning of fossil fuels and more. Recycling is one of the first ideas used to combat pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. However, many people still argue recycling s effectiveness and whether the processes are helping and if the processes are worth the money. Recycling helps reduce the carbon footprint by reusing multiple types of materials, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as well as creating alternative sources of energy. Recycling s main idea is to reuse materials from past products that were already created and are no longer used or just the simple reuse of a product the way it is. The recycling of old materials reduces the need to create or harvest raw materials in which both of those processes release large amounts of greenhouse gases. Most people know of recycling paper and plastic, but many more types of materials can be reused like metals and textiles. B. Zamani, M. Svanström, G. Peters, and T. According to the latest live Q4 real GDP growth forecast courtesy of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, the US economy is expected to expand +3.3% during the current quarter. Should this expectation prevail, then the economy will have enjoyed three successive quarters of GDP growth in excess of 3%, the first occurrence since 2004 H2 and 2005 Q1. The biggest difference between the aforementioned period and the current environment is the underlying strength of real final sales. Meanwhile, the Conference Board s measure of consumer confidence recently reached its highest level since December 2000, which, incidentally, coincided with the peak of the 1991 2000 economic expansion. Furthermore, much of the improvement is attributable to current conditions versus the anticipated backdrop six months hence. Currently, perceptions about abundant job availability have reached their highest levels since the summer of 2001. Historically, there has been a close correlation between wage inflation and perceptions of job availability. There is, however, a disconnection between the two during the current cycle, because wage inflation still appears reluctant to breach +3%. Despite the apparent lack of upward pressure on nominal wages, consumer confidence has been rising. This dichotomy is probably explained by the low level of the so called misery index (the summation of consumer price inflation and the unemployment rate). Moreover, real wage gains have been positive due to the persistence of low inflation and this probably explains why, despite modest nominal wage gains, consumers feel more upbeat. This situation could, however, change if inflation rises, thereby pushing inflation adjusted changes in labour compensation into negative territory. Secrétaire d Etat a l Action sociale of the French government, René Lenoir is said to have used the term social exclusion in publications over twenty five years ago. Since then has had a major impact on explanations of individuals who feel separated from society especially through poverty and deprivation (Sen, 2000). The term Social Justice can be traced back to the twentieth century where the pursuit began by individuals, communities and societies, some argue that perhaps the fight for social justice maybe ending (Miller, 1999). Robert Merton s work had major influence on the school of functionalism, especially in America during the 1940s and 1950s especially as functionalism was mainly concerned with social order (Tierney, 1996). Merton s focus was crime and deviance even though he was not a criminologist; his ideas were first published in 1993 in an article titled Social structure and anomie which illustrated his connection to Durkheim. The Emergence Of Italian Nationalism The emergence of Italian nationalism began in the Renaissance Era and was then encouraged by key Italian figures, leading to the unification of Italy which was overall beneficial for the country. (mention benefits for Italy and how it is today) Before unification, Italy was a collection of different independent states. The Italian Wars, which went on from 1494 to 1559, were fought for the control of these Italian states by European powers. The most consistently fought over city states in Italy were Naples, Florence, Venice, Sicily, and the Papal State of Rome. Many European powers were involved in the beginning, but soon the wars became a struggle between mainly France and Spain. While the Italian Wars were harsh on Italy, they helped to spread the Italian Renaissance throughout Western Europe. The Renaissance Era began a new way of thinking, which has been traced to the beginnings of Italian nationalism, which has contributed to the Unification of Italy. The Italian Wars began in 1494, when Charles VIII of France invaded Italy, and in 1495 conquered Naples. With that in mind, this essay will consider the leadership styles of two leaders who are involved in the current presidential election process. He also describes a great mountain setting in New York When the weather is fair and settled, they are clothed in blue and purple, and print their bold outlines on the clear evening sky; but, sometimes, when the rest of the landscape is cloudless, they will gather a hood of gray vapors about their summits, which, in the last rays of the setting sun, will glow and light up like a crown of glory. Diedrich Knickerbocker s conception of authorship was heroic. The business of writing was a perilous enterprise, and only those who were dauntless and daring could succeed in their quest for fame. Writers were intrepid knights who courageously confronted all difficulties and hardships as they journeyed toward publication, a textual pilgrimage that required ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Jamestown Vs Chesapeake Essay Chesapeake is similar to Jamestown, in a few ways both had many changes in political systems, grew tobacco as a cash crop, used slaves, and were Christian. They were also different, of course, as the political systems they each went through were not the same, Jamestown traded with the natives throughout its lifetime (while the Chesapeake only did initially), they had different denominations of Christianity, and different physical settlements. With many similarities these two colonies were alike overall. However, their smaller differences set them apart in a variety of ways. Both colonies changed political systems and powers throughout their lifetimes sometimes the change was necessary, other times it was for the benefit of those in power, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, they were different denominations of Christianity, partial thanks to the different political systems. From the beginning of the Chesapeake colony, the colonists were a mix of Protestants and Catholics, as the colony was a proprietorship, not a royal colony. With its growth, the number of Protestants rose, even though Lord Baltimore would ve like a completely Catholic colony. The route he chose to protect the minority Catholics was to allow anyone to practice their religion, so long as they believed in Jesus. This is similar to values in America today though it was more restricted in Chesapeake at the time, it was one of the colonies that started the idea of religious freedom. Jamestown was comprised of settlers of the Anglican faith, the official religion of the English at the time. This was most likely due to it being a royal colony, and one of the first ones at that so the people chosen to become colonists were faithful representatives of the country. Their physical settlements were also different Jamestown was a small village surrounded by a wall. This type of settlement was used because they didn t know what to expect and protect themselves from, and didn t think they needed to farm for their survival (expecting to trade with the natives). Chesapeake quickly developed into a rural colony, though, with farms spread far apart from one another. Using farming as a large food and profit source, they grew foods like corn and ... • 44. Gender Stereotypes In The Film And Television Industry For decades, variations of the same gender stereotypes like, boys don t cry, Damsel in distress or You fight like a girl have been embedded in the minds of many children while growing up. According to recent studies, 66% of children these days have watched television, and the television viewing starts as young as 9 months old (Conrad). Children at this age have malleable minds, which are greatly affected by these stereotypes. Therefore, gender stereotypes in the film and television industry negatively influence children s social development. These stereotypes impact a child s mind and changes their behaviour towards the opposite gender, lowers their self esteem, and hinders their true personality traits. Regardless of economic status, in countries around the world gender stereotypes have created a sexist mindset and almost everyone has accepted them with open arms. These stereotypes cause the tension between the genders in many ways. These ranging from young boys bullied for having feminine traits to as extreme as women being sexually assaulted. In the famous words of Madame de Staël, The desire of the man is for the woman, but the desire of the woman is for the desire of the man (Rowley). We can see this in all the movies where men are portrayed to be the dominant figures who hold power over women and according to 2016 Statistics the statistics of women as sole protagonists in the top 100 movies in 2016 were as low as 29% ( 2016 Statistics ). • 46. Ninety Five Theses In this essay i m going to be writing about the ninety five theses. The Ninety Five Theses question the Catholic Church s practice of selling indulgences and view skeptically the notion that a papal pardon rather than penance or genuine contrition can achieve forgiveness of sins. Luther argued that Christians were being falsely told that they could obtain absolution for souls in purgatory by buying indulgences. All Saints Church in Wittenberg, Saxony in the Holy Roman Empire, locally known as the Castle Church Schlosskirche, where the Ninety Five Theses famously appeared, held one of Europe s largest collections of holy relics. These had been piously collected by Frederick III of Saxony. At that time, pious veneration of relics supposedly allowed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Albert of Mainz, the Archbishop of Mainz in Germany, had borrowed heavily to pay for his high church rank and was deeply in debt. He agreed to allow the sale of the indulgences in his territory in exchange for a cut of the proceeds. Luther was apparently not aware of this. Even though Luther s prince, Frederick III, and the prince of the neighboring territory, George, Duke of Saxony, forbade the sale thereof in their respective lands, people in Wittenberg traveled to purchase them. When these people came to confession, they presented their plenary indulgences for which they paid, claiming they no longer had to repent of their sins, since the document promised to forgive all their sins. Luther was outraged that they had paid money for what was theirs by right as a free gift from God. He felt compelled to expose the fraud that was being sold to the people. This exposure was to take place in the form of a public scholarly debate at the University of Wittenberg. The Ninety Five Theses outlined the items to be discussed and issued the challenge to any and all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
