vigilante

Vigilante Justice
The year is 1851 in the newest biggest town of San Francisco, where the first vigilante committee was
formed. These committees have been around longer than any police station in the west, and their sole
purpose was to act as the law when the law was absent. During these times in San Francisco the crime
rates were outrageous because of the new found golden wealth in the area. When the gold rush hit
people from all over the world flocked to get a piece of the golden pie. Back then these vigilante
committees were needed because the lack of police force, the people of these towns would trust these
vigilantes and some sheriffs would even hire them. Without these brave men and women that formed

With this circumstance the vigilantes decided that the man they were so kindly escorting didn t
deserve the rights to a fair trial. What these certain vigilantes did is not to be seen as the whole of the
vigilante movement during the old west.
What the vigilante committees did back in the old west was an honorable and brave most people today
would think you re crazy to join a committee to fight crime. Without the vigilante committees the
towns and settlements around during the old west would have been constantly over run by outlaws and
criminals trying to make a quick unhonest buck. Throughout time they have always had the
connotation of criminal men running around serving justice with his peace maker. When these outlaws
ran into town, there wasn t any way to call the sheriff and if he even was in town it was even harder to
get him there in time. The sheriff s job in the old west was a lot more tasking than what the sheriffs of
today do simply because the sheriff had to ride horseback from town to town to see who needs help.
Now the sheriff doesn t need to move to know when, where, and what people need help with. Author

Robert Agnew General Strain Theory
Throughout history a lot of experts have tried to understand why some people feel the need to commit
crimes, even though there have been harsh laws enforced for those who commit crimes. These people
have come up with theories as to why people commit crimes to understand these theories, we must
understand what a crime is and understand the definition of theories.
Crime is a human conduct that violates the laws of a state or the federal government. There are
different ways people view criminal behaviors either through the view of the social problem
perspective which blames the society and the social responsibility which blames the person who
committed the crime. Through these two perspectives we get the idea of theories. A theory is a
comprehensive explanation about certain experiences which are based on facts that have been
gathered overtime. These theories explain the mental reason people are more pushed to commit
crimes. Theories like Robert Agnews General Strain Theory has given us an explanation as to
phenomena criminal behavior. In 1992 strain theory was reformulated by Robert Agnew and called the
general strain theory. Agnew felt as though that strain theory was not fully explaining the main reason
people are pushed to commit crimes, so he came up with a theory he felt was a better explanation and
a reason as to why crimes were committed.
The concept of general strain theory comes from the idea that people commit crimes to use it as a
means of copping with the

My Trip To The Great Smoky Mountains
It was the middle of the day, but the sky was a darker blue than usual and there were a few stars out. It
was a bit chilly despite being a clear day in August. The mountains I saw ahead were too dark to be
distinguishable from one another. For that brief minute, the sun had disappeared. Seeing the total solar
eclipse was the best experience of my summer and one of the best experiences of my life. My family
and I went to go see it in Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee. I had been really
excited for this moment because of how long I d been anticipating it. Plus I d been to the Great Smoky
Mountains before and I really enjoyed being there, so I was looking forward to going back.
A great aspect about this day was that I was on Clingman s Dome, the highest mountain in the park,
and it was one of the best places to see the eclipse because there was a beautiful view of the park from
up there and the eclipse was not blocked out by clouds, unlike other places along the path of totality.
My family purchased tickets ahead of time to get up there because it was going to be closed off on the
day of the eclipse to prevent it from being too crowded. We arrived at the parking lot early where they
were loading up the coach buses to go up the mountain and we made it on the first bus and there we
received our solar glasses. The glasses felt like cheap paper glasses, but they had a solar filter in them
that allowed me to look at the sun without hurting my eyes. We were lucky to have these glasses
because when the eclipse was coming near, solar glasses were in very high demand and a lot of people
had trouble getting them.
The ride up to the mountain took about twenty minutes and it was kind of scary because of how high
we were, but I saw some amazing scenery of the Smokies while going up so it wasn t too bad. Once
the bus reached the top of the mountain, I saw the landscape of mountains stretched out ahead as far as
the eye could see. While up on the mountain, people working for NASA had activities going on and
were even handing out solar glasses. Everyone in my family grabbed some NASA solar glasses
because they might be more reliable than the glasses we were given previously and they would make a
neat souvenir.

Managing And Motivate Multi Generational Organizations
For the first time ever, five generations are working together under one roof creating today s multi
generational workforce. Our current workforce is comprised of Traditionalists, Baby Boomers,
Generation X, Generation Y and Generation Z, whom are all working side by side despite major age
and hierarchal differences. Diversity is extremely valuable in an organization, however; management
must know how to properly motivate each age group in order to reap the benefits of today s
workforce. It is of upmost importance for organizations to effectively handle the cultural, lifestyle, and
communication differences between the span of five generations which can pose a challenge to
management. These five generations all have different beliefs, goals, attitudes, and priorities which
need to be taken into consideration to avoid misunderstanding amongst co workers. Consequently,
having such a variety in ideas and visions from people ranging in ages from ages 16 68 can strengthen
an organization in many ways. In this paper I will provide research from several sources to compose
ideas on how to effectively manage and motivate multi generational organizations. I will study each
generation to establish their strengths, weaknesses, work habits, communication styles and values to
determine the best way to overcome challenges and obstacles. A properly managed collaboration of
these generations will give an organization tremendous opportunity and growth.

Persuasive Essay On Thyroid Testing
Thyroid: Advanced Testing
In a normally functioning body, Thyroxine (T4) and Triiodothyronine (T3) are hormones produced by
the thyroid gland. They help control the rate at which the body uses energy and are regulated by a
feedback system. Thyrotropin or Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) from the pituitary gland
stimulates the production and release of T4 (primarily) and T3 by the thyroid. Most of the T4 and T3
circulates, bound to protein, in the blood. A small percentage is free (not bound).
According to the New York Times, Thyroid disorders...are among the most undiagnosed and
misdiagnosed problems in the United States. Doctors generally don t examine the thyroid. Disorders
come on slowly, and the symptoms can be ambiguous. Although the test itself is easily incorporated
into a routine blood panel, many doctors choose not to pursue testing and this is a distinct problem,
especially given the number of people suffering from thyroid disorders.
Although, the test may be routine in nature. The testing itself relies upon a number of advanced
techniques. What follows is a general review of the most common forms of thyroid testing. For more
specifics, please visit the American Thyroid Association. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A high TSH level suggests that the thyroid gland is failing because of a problem that is directly
affecting the thyroid; this is called primary hypothyroidism. The opposite, in which the TSH level is
low, usually indicates that the person has an overactive thyroid; this is called hyperthyroidism.
Occasionally, a low TSH may result from an abnormality in the pituitary gland, which prevents it from
making enough TSH to stimulate the thyroid; this is known as secondary hypothyroidism. In most
healthy individuals, a normal TSH value means that the thyroid is functioning

Where My Ancestors Came From Analysis
Describe where your ancestors came from when they arrived in this country, where they initially
settled, and when and where they resettled.
It is difficult to determine exactly in what region my ancestors came from. According to Barbara C.
Bigelow (2000) during earlier of America story, the society was divided by class rather than skin
color. Indeed, in 1619, the first ship carrying African sailed to Jamestown in Virginia, in so began the
history of black African Americans. In fact, according to Lerone Bennett (1989) the first African
Americans arrived in North America were not the slave, but indentured servant where black and white

Essay On Sports Coaches
Athletic Coach or Scout Coaches teach amateur and professional athletes the skills they need to
succeed at their sport. Scouts look for new players, evaluating their skills and likelihood for success at
the college, amateur, or professional level. Many coaches are also involved in scouting potential
athletes.
Coaches typically do the following:
Plan, organize, and conduct practice sessions
Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of individual athletes and opposing teams
Plan strategies and choose team members for each game
Provide direction, encouragement, and motivation to prepare athletes for games
Call plays and make decisions about strategy and player substitutions during games

Certification often requires coaches to be a minimum age of at least 18 years old and be trained in
cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid. Some states also require coaches to attend classes
related to sports safety and coaching fundamentals prior to becoming certified. Although most public
high school coaches need to meet these state requirements in order to become a coach, certification
may not be required for coaching and sports instructor jobs in private schools. Some schools may
require coaches to have a teaching license and complete a background check. Certification
requirements for college coaching positions also vary. Additional certification may be highly desirable
or even required in order to become an instructor in scuba diving, tennis, golf, karate, or other
individual sports. There are many certifying organizations specific to the various sports, and their
requirements vary. To reach the ranks of professional coaches, a candidate usually needs years of
coaching experience and a winning record at a college. Some coaches may not have previous coaching

Phoenix s Hardships and Racism in A Worn Path Essay
A Worn Path tells of an elderly and frail black woman and of the hardships that she must overcome.

age. She faces racism from some of characters she meets along the way. Phoenix faces inferior
treatment, as though she is nothing more than some insect to squash. This story is about not only her

Ancient Greece Forms Of Government
There were many forms of government in Ancient Greece. The ones that will be discussed in the
following paragraphs are monarchy, aristocracy, tyranny, oligarchy, and democracy. First, the
definition of a monarchy is a state or nation in which the supreme power is actually or nominally
lodged in a monarch (Dictionary.com, 2017). Ancient Greek city states that had a monarchy were
Sparta (partially), as well as Macedonia and Epeiros. Monarchies were not found often in Ancient
Greece (Cartwright and Cartwright, 2017). The form of governance most like a monarchy are
tyrannies, since the center of power is on one person. The form of governance most unlike a monarchy
are democracies, since the center of power rests with the largest group, the people themselves. Second,
the definition of an aristocracy is a government or state ruled by an aristocracy, elite, or privileged
upper class (Dictionary.com, 2017). Ancient Greek city states that had an aristocracy included Athens,
as well as Sparta. Both city states had a period of their history ruled by an elite class (Brand, n.d.). The
form of governance most like aristocracy are oligarchies, since the definition of the two is almost
identical. The form of governance most unlike aristocracy are probably the democracies, because there
are more people involved in democracies, and they don t include as much of a concentration of power
or a concentration of wealth. Third, the definition of a tyranny is the government or rule of a

Anne Frank And The Jewish People During World War II
In spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart. I simply can t build up my
hopes on a foundation consisting of confusion, misery and death (Frank 259). This was written on July
15th, 1944, by Anne Frank, an fifteen year old girl, who was arrested by the Nazis. Anne Frank, is a
name known around the world for her compelling diary about growing up, living hidden away from

used by Anne to record her life while in hiding with her family and friends. Anne and her diary were,
and still are to this day, a link as to what life was like for the Jewish people during the time Hitler rose

Essay On Gun Violence In Schools
A lot of people believe that the best alternative would be to have a hired security guard or law
enforcement guarding the school at all times. This idea is better because it allows the teachers to be at
peace by not having to worry about if they would be ending a life. If I m going to have a gun on the
premises I d rather have a resource officer who has been trained, Martin said. If I m going to defend
myself in the community, I m not firing around potentially 1,000 kids. By hiring security the school
would be protected from any intruders. Security would be trained to shoot with precision at any

It would be nice if decision making was indeed a simple process and that a set of ethical principles
was readily available for employees to plug in and walk away from, with a decision to be forthcoming.
However, in reality that is not, nor will it ever be, the case when it comes to ethics and decision
making. It is safe to say that decision making is one of the most important if not the most important of
all individual and group efforts within an organization.
Ethics are the rules, principles, standards, or beliefs that commonly define right and wrong. Ethics are
involved in all facets of business from decision making to budgeting, from personnel issues to

must be particularly sensitive to ethical issues because of their key role as a bridge between upper

Neuropeptides
Neuropeptides are synthesized in the soma, the cell body of the neuron. These neuropeptides are along
with specific enzymes packed into vesicles in the Golgi apparatus. In these vesicles the neuropeptides
are transported along microtubules in the axon towards the nerve terminal. During the course of this
transportation the neuropeptides, who at this stage is only precursors of the actual neuropeptides, are
modified by the enzymes into their actual neuropeptide form. The vesicles in which the neuropeptides
are stored in once they arrive to the nerve terminal are called large dense core vesicles.
These vesicles will release the neuropeptides as a response to large stimuli, meaning stimuli which
give rise to many action potentials. The site of release is closer to the axon than the synapse and the
neuropeptides then have to diffuse toward the synaptic cleft and the ... Show more content on

The classical transmitters are instead synthesized in the axon terminal while it is only the enzymes
necessary for their synthesis that are produced in the soma and transported along the axon. These
enzymes then act on precursor peptides, which are recycled versions of the neurotransmitter, to
produce the neurotransmitter. The neurotransmitter is then packed and stored in small clear core
vesicles. Upon release the classical neurotransmitter bind to both GPCRs and ligand dependent ion
channels. Therefore only the classical transmitters, and not the neuropeptides, can give rise to
excitatory postsynaptic potential (EPSP) and inhibitory postsynaptic potential (IPSP). As the
neurotransmitter is already in the nerve terminal and is later released directly into the synaptic cleft,
the signalling is faster than that of the neuropeptides. Classical neurotransmitters can also be released
as a response to smaller stimuli, with only a few action potentials, while neuropeptides require
stronger stimuli for

Disadvantage Of Higher Education
Secondary schooling is the fulcrum or significant factor of a nation s schooling system. With regard to
the sample of secondary schooling experiments had been taking place seeing that Independence. The
ten plus two plus three device of training which was recommended with the aid of Kothari
Commission of 1965 is now being carried out in almost all the States and Union Territories of India.
This system offers for two streams the higher secondary schools; the instructional streams paving the
manner for better schooling and the vocational move of terminal nature. However, only a few schools
live been capable of offer this terminal schooling. As an end result, schools with instructional streams
still abound, thereby defeating the very motive of reducing the extreme opposition for university
schooling. In many States schooling is loose as much as the decrease secondary degree, and in a few
states training is free as much as the better secondary stage. The higher education system in India is
imparted thru about one and eighty universities and smartly forty five hundred colleges. In addition
there are several institutions presenting specialized understanding and technical capabilities. Since
training is a State challenge. The State Governments in India are unfastened to open new university.
Grants Commission is an expert which dispenses presents to the universities. However, its formal
sanction is not vital to open a college. Taking gain of this provision many State governments in India
have opened a huge wide variety of universities in recent years. The exceptional growth in the number
of students and of educational institutions has given rise to the time period schooling explosion . No
doubt, this has led to extreme problems which includes inadequacy of economic assets and
infrastructure and dilution of private interest to the training and man or woman formation of the
scholars. Also, there is the undesirable side effect of massive increase in the wide variety of
knowledgeable unemployed. However, we can t forget about the advantages of schooling explosion in
India. Mere increase in the percentage of literate humans does now not indicate a qualitative exchange
within the educational requirements of the humans and

The Bronze Experience
t
During the entirety of the Bronze expedition I have achieved my intended purposes satisfactorily. By
having to walk through many trees and different types of flora I learnt to not be squeamish when faced
with fauna and learn to appreciate and observe nature instead of avoiding it. I learnt the importance of
a positive mindset during the trip and being not afraid to try new things such as the mountain devil
nectar, to throw yourself into the deep waters such as climbing up the steep moss covered uphills and
to take calculated risks when trying new routes. The unpolluted and fairly untouched environment
made me see the beauty in nature clearer and welcome it with open arms, it is easier to work with
nature rather than against it especially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Climbing up the moss covered steep spur after it was raining was one of the main challenges test
expedition as it tested both my endurance, balance and courage. It was not helpful that my glasses
were covered with droplets of water as it made me paranoid about tripping over stones. It tested my
fears as I was afraid of heights, looking back what kept me from slipping and taking a break was never
looking back behind me and never looking up at how much longer I had to go, keeping focused on
where I was stepping, breathing and the position of my centre of gravity. Towards the end of the first
day of the expedition there was one main highlight that made my day. We were all exhausted and
down after the long first day hike, and we were no longer at the high spirits we were at in the previous
days but, one thing that really helped everybody regain their spirits was the box of free apples on the

Summary Of Let There Be Dark By Paul Bogard
In this analysis, we will thematically analyze Paul Bogard s Let There Be Dark , a newspaper article in
the Los Angeles Times published on December 21st 2012. In terms of a purpose, we must make the
distinction between convincing and persuading. In my opinion, Bogard aims to persuade push for
action via emotional appeals his readers of the growing dangers of light pollution as opposed to
natural darkness. After he presents his main argument, Bogard also sets forth some solutions to the
problems to convince the reader that there is still hope. Bogard s reliance on anecdotes from the past
suggests this article is targeted primarily towards adults, as they are the ones who can most relate with
them. Throughout the article, Bogard uses logos, pathos, and ethos to persuade the reader of his
argument. This includes employing vivid language, facts, logical reasoning, emotional appeals, and
anecdotes. We will begin by analyzing how Bogard uses logos to convey his point.
Bogard first uses logos when he mentions how 8 of 10 children (Bogard line 3) in the United States
will never know true darkness. This suggests that natural darkness is decreasing, thus setting the
premise for Bogard s argument. This statistic is effective because Bogard uses it to set a sharp contrast
between past and present generations. The main argument begins by Bogard referring to how some
major medical institutions, such as the World Health Organization, have acknowledged the harmful

Louis Pasteur And Lister
Pasteurization and Listerine came from the names of pioneers against germs, who improved the
affects of medicine. Experimenting in the late 1800s, scientists Louis Pasteur in France, then Joseph
Lister in England, made discoveries that revolutionized patient health. Their work eliminated some of
the health risks patients experienced throughout medical processes. Both Louis Pasteur and Joseph
Lister transformed treatment, to the process and eventually to the patient during the Industrial
Revolution.
Before scientific improvements introduced by Pasteur and Lister, there was a lack of cleanliness
throughout the surgical process. Medical theory misunderstood the importance of a cleanliness
protocol, these faults resulted in sepsis and outpatient deaths. Though the actual surgery would be a
success, Ward Fever would claim lives afterwards. Louis Pasteur and Joseph Lister brought to light
the effects of illness and benefits of sterilization.
Louis Pasteur, a French chemist and biologist, founded the concept of temperature as a way to kill
germs. He showed that microorganisms caused liquids such as milk, wine and beer to spoil. He
invented a process in association with Claude Bernard in which liquids such as milk were heated to
kill bacteria and moulds present and then cooled to normal temperature (Louis Pasteur Famous
Inventors). Discovered in 1864, Pasteurization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

came from, starting after he graduated from college in 1845 until he died in 1885. Joseph Lister took

recovery. Together they are remembered for their contribution to modern medical science, and so it is

Time And The River Essay
Does historical fiction have a duty to be factually accurate? It s a question many people found
themselves discussing a lot lately. It s certainly true that historical fiction is enjoying a boom at the
moment, but for many readers, a historical novel might be their point of entry or perhaps their only
real window to a particular period. Historical fiction offers readers a narrative that takes place during a
specific period in history. It often focuses on a specific event and presents some of the actual events at
that time through the presumed voices of actual people, meanwhile offering a particular view of
people living in that period. The extent of the accuracy of the historical detail varies greatly. In some
historical fiction, famous events ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The more is historical accuracy in detail and theme, the necessary elements of a meaningful historical
exploration are seen through fiction. The conflicts of men and women in history become real to the
student because these men and women can be presented in their human dimension. They are mothers,
fathers, aunts, uncles, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, who are caught up in a particular event. Their
defeats and successes evoke an emotional response from readers. This response draws people into the
world of the past and imbues their perspective with a historical dimension. The historical figures
emerge as human beings responding to a human condition in the context of history. Edgell s literary

The Chuckwallas and Evolutionary Research
Ever since Charles Darwin s first publication of On the Origin of Species in 1859, island habitats have
been used by a number of scientists as the most efficient laboratories to observe the natural process of
evolution taking place in modern day organisms. Several kilometers northeast of the Galapagos
Islands, where Darwin famously performed his research, is a small group of islands in the Sea of
Cortés, also known as the Gulf of California, between the Baja California peninsula and Mexico (see
Figure 1 on page 18). Here many evolutionary biologists of the 20th and 21st century performed
research on the insular organisms inhabiting these island habitats. One group of lizards in particular
known by the common name chuckwallas has gained a lot of focus in evolutionary research.
Chuckwallas is the name of organisms in the Sauromalus genus apart of the Iguanidae family. They
are herbivorous lizards commonly found in the deserts of southwestern United States and Northern
Mexico. Three species, in particular, are found on the islands off the cost of the mainland within the
Sea of Cortés: Sauromalus obesus (= ater), Sauromalus varius, and Sauromalus hispidus (see Figure 2
on page 20). S. obesus is a common species found on the mainland as well as few islands, while S.
varius are S. hispidus are endemic to specific islands in the Sea of Cortés: mainly San Esteban Island
and Angel de la Guarda Island, respectively. Both of these insular species also show signs of

Oresteia Revenge Quotes
Throughout The Oresteia, the themes of justice and revenge are often used as reasoning for certain
events that take place. In many instances, the characters refer to certain events as revenge, while
others see them as justice. For example, Clytemnestra kills her wife in pursuit of justice, and can be
displayed as just due to her motives and reasoning. Orestes killing of Clytemnestra may be viewed as
just in his eyes, but in reality, is revenge. In The Oresteia, revenge, often portrayed as a selfish act,
regards experiencing a spiteful joy caused by retaliation, while justice is displayed primarily as a
rational decision, rather than an emotional one. Orestes, Agamemnon s father, kills his mother

Clytemnestra avenges her daughter Iphigenia by killing Agamemnon. Her decision isn t based on her

Negligence in Healtcare Law
MBA 5101 Unit 1 Case Study Gary Campbell Our text defines a tort as a civil wrong and negligence
as a tort, a civil or personal wrong (Pozgar, 2012). Negligence as it is related to healthcare is an
unintentional commission or omission of an act that a reasonably prudent person or organization
would or would not do under normal circumstances. Not following a recognized standard of care
could be considered negligence. The case I have chosen to study is one from the Circuit Court of
Baltimore City Maryland and is that of Enso Martinez a minor by and through his parent (Rebecca

instead of inward, toward Ms. Fielding s spine. At 12:30 a.m., Midwife Muhlhan attempted to
expedite delivery while at Fielding s home. First, Midwife Muhlhan applied fundal pressure to Ms.
Fielding two or three times. Second, Midwife Muhlhan injected Fielding multiple times with Pitocin, a
hormone that increases the strength and frequency of contractions. Third, misjudging the state of her
labor, Ms. Muhlhan performed an episiotomy, which is a procedure performed upon immediate
delivery in which the perineum is cut in order to enlarge the vaginal opening. Finally, Ms. Muhlhan
directed Fielding to cleanse herself with a probiotic treatment, as an alternative to taking antibiotics, in
order to prevent the potentially fatal transmission of Group B streptococcus bacteria (for which she
had tested positive), to the baby during labor and delivery. After providing these treatments, Midwife
Muhlhan decided it was time to go to the hospital. Midwife Muhlhan sutured the episiotomy and
called an ambulance. Rebecca Fielding arrived at the Hospital at 3:30 a.m. on March 26, 2010.
Fielding was an unknown patient to the Hospital and was socioeconomically challenged. The Hospital

Essay on The Rewarding Career of a Veterinarian
Many people have lost their pets and close family members because there is no way to get the help or
medical attention that the animal so desperately needed. Every day in the United States, veterinarians
are working hard to save animal s lives. People will always continue to want and to breed pets.
Therefore, to help and cure all these pets, a steady stream of veterinarians will be needed for many
years to come. Over the years, the requirements and processes to becoming a veterinarian have
changed. To become a successful veterinarian one must complete all necessary education and on the

However, the more experience one has on the job site, the better. Past experiences dealing with
animals and even being a pet owner can also help a Veterinarian relate with fellow pet owners on the
job. Training on the job or at veterinarian school mainly consists of observing and practicing surgical
procedures as well as dealing with more subtle ranges of treatment like medicine and hospitalization.
In this day and age, the field of medicine is always making advancements in technology. Because
technology is such an important part in veterinarian s jobs, it literally pays to be well acquainted with
using computers and various forms of modern technology (Benton). While caring for animals,
Veterinarians use a wide variety of medical equipment, ranging from sophisticated laboratory
instruments (such as centrifuges and microscopes) and medical imaging apparatuses (such as X ray,
MRI, CT, and ultrasound machines) to surgical instruments and stethoscopes. (2 Greenland and

of a successful veterinarian. To become a successful veterinarian, one must have certain social traits
that help them to interact with others. Prior to entering veterinary school, candidates should gain

Broadband Companies, The Gatekeepers Of The Internet
Broadband Companies, The Gatekeepers of The Internet. In the early 1990 s when the internet was
still new there were no regulations on how Internet Service Providers (ISP s) could operate their
broadband networks. Most being major telecommunications companies followed the same regulations
that applied to land line telephones laid out by the Federal Communications Commision. Basically
Telecoms could not block, slow, or inhibit in anyway the connection from one caller to another
neutrality. And generally since then the internet has been following the same guidelines. But fast
forward to the internet of 2014, and you ll find a very different place. There is so much money to be
made on the internet of today. ISPs and companies are always looking to make a profit in some way.
But where does that leave the user?
The internet being a largely unregulated medium in the United States is much like the Wild West,
where tech tycoons control its destiny. That s where the concept of Net Neutrality comes in. The idea
that all data traffic over the broadband networks should be treated equally. It s a concept that has
existed largely as unspoken consensus since the birth of the internet. But in our world today, where it
seems that every aspect of life has become monetized, there needs to be clearer regulations to keep the
internet open and equal for all.
The argument against Net Neutrality is given by the owners of the broadband networks. Companies
like AT T, Verizon, and Comcast, and

leading research based pharmaceutical company and has produced drugs such as penicillin, Lipitor,
Viagra, Detrol, and Geodon and thousands of others throughout its history. Focused now on expanding

The second rests in Pfizer s expiring patents on several popular drugs that invite their competitors to
enter the market with similarly performing pharmaceuticals. Once these patents expire, Pfizer will
either have to extend the patent through reformulating the performance of the drug for another purpose
called ever greening , or abandon the line in the pursuit of another, more profitable product.
Regardless of what they do in terms of their own product offerings, generic imitations of their
products will enter the market, diluting the profitability of the drug and forcing reliance on the sales of
other existing products to make up the loss.
Opportunities for Pfizer exist in two areas, first being the restructuring into a more lean and
competitive organization and second is the penetration into emerging markets such as China and India
who are now more able to purchase their products. With sales of approximately $50 billion per year,
Pfizer has the opportunity to streamline its operations, cut costs, and add flexibility to the
organization. If successful in this, they can better realize their profits and invest that money into future
competitive products for the market.
Penetration into developing markets is the second opportunity identified, allowing Pfizer to

  • 2. vigilante Conner aura Vigilante Justice The year is 1851 in the newest biggest town of San Francisco, where the first vigilante committee was formed. These committees have been around longer than any police station in the west, and their sole purpose was to act as the law when the law was absent. During these times in San Francisco the crime rates were outrageous because of the new found golden wealth in the area. When the gold rush hit people from all over the world flocked to get a piece of the golden pie. Back then these vigilante committees were needed because the lack of police force, the people of these towns would trust these vigilantes and some sheriffs would even hire them. Without these brave men and women that formed to make these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With this circumstance the vigilantes decided that the man they were so kindly escorting didn t deserve the rights to a fair trial. What these certain vigilantes did is not to be seen as the whole of the vigilante movement during the old west. What the vigilante committees did back in the old west was an honorable and brave most people today would think you re crazy to join a committee to fight crime. Without the vigilante committees the towns and settlements around during the old west would have been constantly over run by outlaws and criminals trying to make a quick unhonest buck. Throughout time they have always had the connotation of criminal men running around serving justice with his peace maker. When these outlaws ran into town, there wasn t any way to call the sheriff and if he even was in town it was even harder to get him there in time. The sheriff s job in the old west was a lot more tasking than what the sheriffs of today do simply because the sheriff had to ride horseback from town to town to see who needs help. Now the sheriff doesn t need to move to know when, where, and what people need help with. Author Lisa Arellano explains just how historians feel about the common belief of the vigilante, The vigilante historians sought to resolve the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Robert Agnew General Strain Theory Throughout history a lot of experts have tried to understand why some people feel the need to commit crimes, even though there have been harsh laws enforced for those who commit crimes. These people have come up with theories as to why people commit crimes to understand these theories, we must understand what a crime is and understand the definition of theories. Crime is a human conduct that violates the laws of a state or the federal government. There are different ways people view criminal behaviors either through the view of the social problem perspective which blames the society and the social responsibility which blames the person who committed the crime. Through these two perspectives we get the idea of theories. A theory is a comprehensive explanation about certain experiences which are based on facts that have been gathered overtime. These theories explain the mental reason people are more pushed to commit crimes. Theories like Robert Agnews General Strain Theory has given us an explanation as to phenomena criminal behavior. In 1992 strain theory was reformulated by Robert Agnew and called the general strain theory. Agnew felt as though that strain theory was not fully explaining the main reason people are pushed to commit crimes, so he came up with a theory he felt was a better explanation and a reason as to why crimes were committed. The concept of general strain theory comes from the idea that people commit crimes to use it as a means of copping with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. My Trip To The Great Smoky Mountains It was the middle of the day, but the sky was a darker blue than usual and there were a few stars out. It was a bit chilly despite being a clear day in August. The mountains I saw ahead were too dark to be distinguishable from one another. For that brief minute, the sun had disappeared. Seeing the total solar eclipse was the best experience of my summer and one of the best experiences of my life. My family and I went to go see it in Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee. I had been really excited for this moment because of how long I d been anticipating it. Plus I d been to the Great Smoky Mountains before and I really enjoyed being there, so I was looking forward to going back. A great aspect about this day was that I was on Clingman s Dome, the highest mountain in the park, and it was one of the best places to see the eclipse because there was a beautiful view of the park from up there and the eclipse was not blocked out by clouds, unlike other places along the path of totality. My family purchased tickets ahead of time to get up there because it was going to be closed off on the day of the eclipse to prevent it from being too crowded. We arrived at the parking lot early where they were loading up the coach buses to go up the mountain and we made it on the first bus and there we received our solar glasses. The glasses felt like cheap paper glasses, but they had a solar filter in them that allowed me to look at the sun without hurting my eyes. We were lucky to have these glasses because when the eclipse was coming near, solar glasses were in very high demand and a lot of people had trouble getting them. The ride up to the mountain took about twenty minutes and it was kind of scary because of how high we were, but I saw some amazing scenery of the Smokies while going up so it wasn t too bad. Once the bus reached the top of the mountain, I saw the landscape of mountains stretched out ahead as far as the eye could see. While up on the mountain, people working for NASA had activities going on and were even handing out solar glasses. Everyone in my family grabbed some NASA solar glasses because they might be more reliable than the glasses we were given previously and they would make a neat souvenir. ... • 5. Managing And Motivate Multi Generational Organizations For the first time ever, five generations are working together under one roof creating today s multi generational workforce. Our current workforce is comprised of Traditionalists, Baby Boomers, Generation X, Generation Y and Generation Z, whom are all working side by side despite major age and hierarchal differences. Diversity is extremely valuable in an organization, however; management must know how to properly motivate each age group in order to reap the benefits of today s workforce. It is of upmost importance for organizations to effectively handle the cultural, lifestyle, and communication differences between the span of five generations which can pose a challenge to management. These five generations all have different beliefs, goals, attitudes, and priorities which need to be taken into consideration to avoid misunderstanding amongst co workers. Consequently, having such a variety in ideas and visions from people ranging in ages from ages 16 68 can strengthen an organization in many ways. In this paper I will provide research from several sources to compose ideas on how to effectively manage and motivate multi generational organizations. I will study each generation to establish their strengths, weaknesses, work habits, communication styles and values to determine the best way to overcome challenges and obstacles. A properly managed collaboration of these generations will give an organization tremendous opportunity and growth. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Persuasive Essay On Thyroid Testing Thyroid: Advanced Testing In a normally functioning body, Thyroxine (T4) and Triiodothyronine (T3) are hormones produced by the thyroid gland. They help control the rate at which the body uses energy and are regulated by a feedback system. Thyrotropin or Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) from the pituitary gland stimulates the production and release of T4 (primarily) and T3 by the thyroid. Most of the T4 and T3 circulates, bound to protein, in the blood. A small percentage is free (not bound). According to the New York Times, Thyroid disorders...are among the most undiagnosed and misdiagnosed problems in the United States. Doctors generally don t examine the thyroid. Disorders come on slowly, and the symptoms can be ambiguous. Although the test itself is easily incorporated into a routine blood panel, many doctors choose not to pursue testing and this is a distinct problem, especially given the number of people suffering from thyroid disorders. Although, the test may be routine in nature. The testing itself relies upon a number of advanced techniques. What follows is a general review of the most common forms of thyroid testing. For more specifics, please visit the American Thyroid Association. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A high TSH level suggests that the thyroid gland is failing because of a problem that is directly affecting the thyroid; this is called primary hypothyroidism. The opposite, in which the TSH level is low, usually indicates that the person has an overactive thyroid; this is called hyperthyroidism. Occasionally, a low TSH may result from an abnormality in the pituitary gland, which prevents it from making enough TSH to stimulate the thyroid; this is known as secondary hypothyroidism. In most healthy individuals, a normal TSH value means that the thyroid is functioning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In these vesicles the neuropeptides are transported along microtubules in the axon towards the nerve terminal. During the course of this transportation the neuropeptides, who at this stage is only precursors of the actual neuropeptides, are modified by the enzymes into their actual neuropeptide form. The vesicles in which the neuropeptides are stored in once they arrive to the nerve terminal are called large dense core vesicles. These vesicles will release the neuropeptides as a response to large stimuli, meaning stimuli which give rise to many action potentials. Therefore only the classical transmitters, and not the neuropeptides, can give rise to excitatory postsynaptic potential (EPSP) and inhibitory postsynaptic potential (IPSP). As the neurotransmitter is already in the nerve terminal and is later released directly into the synaptic cleft, the signalling is faster than that of the neuropeptides. In my opinion, Bogard aims to persuade push for action via emotional appeals his readers of the growing dangers of light pollution as opposed to natural darkness. After he presents his main argument, Bogard also sets forth some solutions to the problems to convince the reader that there is still hope. Bogard s reliance on anecdotes from the past suggests this article is targeted primarily towards adults, as they are the ones who can most relate with them. Throughout the article, Bogard uses logos, pathos, and ethos to persuade the reader of his argument. Bogard first uses logos when he mentions how 8 of 10 children (Bogard line 3) in the United States will never know true darkness. This suggests that natural darkness is decreasing, thus setting the premise for Bogard s argument.
