To test the rate of photosynthesis in spinach leaves, we placed a spinach thylakoids mixed with
dichlorophenol indophenol (DPIP) in front of various lights treatments. In total, there were 5
cuvettes which all received different lighting. One was a control which contained no thylakoids,
another had no lightat all, the third cuvette was completely open to all possible light, the fourth was
covered with a green translucent paper, and the final cuvette was covered with a red translucent
paper. In five minute intervals, the transmittance was measured using a spectrophotometer which
allowed the rate of photosynthesisto be measured. Upon completion of this lab, the white light
produced the highest rate of transmittance shortly followed by the red light and then the green light.

When a large magnitude earthquake strikes, roads might buckle, dams sometimes fail, and
buildings can collapse. As more earthquakes occur, building regulations have been altered to ensure
that buildings experience minimal damage. The Trans Alaskan Pipeline System (TAPS), which
transports oil from Prudhoe Bay to the Gulf of Alaska, had engineering in place so when the
earthquake struck the Denali fault in Alaska in 2002, the pipeline didn t leak any oil (Nyman,
Johnson, and Roach, 2003). The success of the pipeline came from its supporting structures. The
engineering used in the TAPS should be applied to buildings in areas that are also prone to large
magnitude earthquakes, such as Washington and California. California is home to the San Andreas
fault, a major transform fault, just like the Denali, and Washington is home to the Seattle Basin,
whose geometry and geological units amplify main and aftershock waves. Washington and
California should first implement better building regulations, and if the premise is successful, it

In this paper, I will address three propositions that surface in philosophy. The three are: (a) the
physical is causally closed, (b) Mary learns a new fact when she leaves her room, and (c) qualia
causes behavior. With these three theses, one can accept only two of these. I will examine the
three views one gets if accepts two and denies the third. I will specifically argue that qualia causes
behavior, with the view Interactionist qualia dualism is the most plausible of the three views.
With the three theses not all a through c can be true. If you assume any of the two, the third has to
be false. In order to do so, one needs to reject one of these three all which seem plausible. ... Show

Veterinary medicines are widely used to treat animals. Farmers supplement the animal feed with a
wide range of compounds from number of therapeutic classes including antimicrobials,
antiprotozoal, ecto and endo parasitic. They get metabolised and traces of their by products are
given out through faeces and urine of the animals which is mixed to the soil and eventually gets
accumulated in the water bodies. Some of the medicines are aerosols and can cause effect through
air. All these studies show that the use of therapeutic veterinary medicines causes effect on the
ecosystem. Keeping in mind one of this global problem, the author has tried to focus on herbal
remedies for such anthelmintic diseases especially in poultry birds. Herbal medicines or
phytomedicines refers to using a plant s seeds, berries, roots, leaves, bark or flowers for medicinal
purposes. Herbal medicines have long traditional use rather than conventional medicine. Though it
enters in the food chain but do not cause any harmful effect on the ecosystem. This study reveals
the effect of anthelmintic activity of some of the medicinal plants on helminth parasite Raillietina

The invention of the automobile in the early 20th century has had an adverse affect on our
environment. Our society has used technology in order to advance the automobile to make it better
and more efficient. The automobile industry knows what sells and they take advantage of that.
With this growing technology to advance automobiles also comes flaws. The biggest and most
obvious flaw is pollution. Because of pollution, we find ourselves asking the question of whether
this technology has helped our society more than it has hurt it. Automobiles are the cause of 60

What really happens is that there are hydrocarbon atoms left over from the combustion process
because they did not burn properly or at all. Another pollutant that is given off by automobiles
along with hydrocarbons is carbon monoxide. This too is also a result of the incomplete process
of the combustion of fuel. Carbon monoxide is emitted directly from the tailpipe. There are
specific times when this is common, when your car does not get enough air during starting and
it chokes, when cars are not tuned properly, during cold weather the level of carbon monoxide
being emitted increases due to more fuel to start the car, and also at high altitudes. The office of
Mobile Sources did a study in 1992 which showed that carbon monoxide levels exceeded the
Federal air quality standard in 20 U.S. cities . Some other pollutants besides hydrocarbons and
carbon monoxide that are given off are nitrogen oxides, and carbon dioxides. These nitrogen
oxides are given off by the high pressure in the automobiles engine where nitrogen and oxygen
atoms in the air react and then form the nitrogen oxide. All of these pollutants effect the
