Plot Twist In Narrative
Plot twist occurs near or at the conclusion of a story. It is an unexpected conclusion to a work of
fiction that causes to reevaluate the whole plot and characters. When a plot twist happens it changes
one s view of the preceding events, it is also known as a surprise ending or twist ending. It provides
ideas for unexpected turns in the course of narrative. O.Henry has profoundly used this technique in
almost all his stories. There are many mechanics by which twisted endings are created. There are
many mechanics and techniques through which twist endings could be created. Anagnorisis or
discovery is the protagonist s sudden recognition of their own. It also includes other character s true
identity or nature. By this technique, previously unforeseen information is revealed. Flashback is a

Deus ex machina and Unreliable narrator. Deus ex machina is used when Della sells her beautiful long
hair to purchase a unique gift for her husband Jim. In the beginning of the story of the readers were
told that Jim was very proud of the Della s hair. Here they are made to think that due to poverty it is
only Della who is making the sacrifice and also she has succeeded to purchase a Christmas gift on the
cost of her beautiful hair. Unreliable narrator is the common technique which O.Henry has used in
almost all his stories. In The Gift of Magi the readers are made to idealize the story only on the
perspective of Della. But in the end Jim is shocked to see Della without her hair because he also
wanted to get a nice Christmas present for Della. Jim had bought a set of attractive combs for her hair.
She had seen them before in a shop, but they were very expensive. Suddenly, she remembers Jim s
gift. She gives him the gold chain and asks him to put it on his watch, Jim surprises her. He sold the

Comparing Rebekah s Essay Individual And Community

Collective independence.
Individual and community are two words whose meanings contrast each other. An individual is one
who is not reliant on others and exists as its own entity. A community however, is a group of
individuals, whose efforts are combined and improved with help from others, therefore becoming
reliant on each other. Both Rebekah Nathan and Kwame Anthony Appiah speak a great deal on what
makes or breaks a community, what brings individuals together and what separates them. I argue that
communities are successful when individuals are made to feel like their identity is maintained, and
their voice carries weight.

Prosecuting Attorneys
What are the duties of a prosecutor? The prosecutor has broad discretion in determining whether or
not to charge the accused of a particular crime. Depending on the size of the municipality a prosecutor
serves, job duties can vary. In larger offices, prosecuting attorneys may be assigned to specific areas of
the law, such as traffic violations or juvenile offenses. In smaller offices, they may be responsible for
all aspects of criminal prosecution.
Prosecuting attorneys begin a case by reviewing police reports and performing research. They may
meet with witnesses or victims. They use their gathered information in court to present the case
against the accused defendant. Prosecuting attorneys must follow cases through each stage of the

Title Ix And Female Athletes Essay
Title IX is a federal law passed in 1972 guaranteeing girls and women access to equal sports
opportunites as boys and men. Title IX in athletics is a very controversial issue that has opened up the
world of athletics for millions of women all across the United States. Although it is a win for women
athletes, it has created an issue for male athletic programs sufforing from the effects of Title IX. This
literary review shows the phenomenon of Title IX and how it affects participation in female sports. It
shows the contriversy of Title IX opening doors for female athletes and closing doors for male
athletes. It also explores the discrimination still in affect towards women in all sports. It also explores
the issues Title IX rasies in both male and female sports.
For years sexual discrimination has plagued women in both the public and private spheres, and has not
allowed sufficient growth for women to reach the same equal level as men. The fight for equality
amongst the sexes has been an ongoing battle for decades, and there are people who say sufficient
progress has been made for women and that no other implementations must be made or that digression
should take place, while there are many activists who continue to push for more of a change. Title IX
was created and set into place in order to eliminate sexual discrimination in all areas of education and
programs, especially in the area of athletics. Supporters of Title IX continue to struggle to make

Deductive reasoning draws from specific conclusions of general principles (Bartol Bartol, 2010).
Arrival at the crime scene and drawing theories from the scene would be the initial step of deductive
analysis. Forming a hypothesis from theories drawn at the scenes would follow. The hypothesis here
is; there are many aspects of this crime and unknown suspects that are obvious such as the
sophistication of the attacks and the fact that the young children were spared, this alone aligns with
criminals who are experienced and have a clear method of what they do. Observation of the multiple
crime scenes and the way in which the family was killed leads to, this act of violence against this
family showing as being business related and not personal. This is based on the fact that the victims
were shot execution style while sleeping in their beds (Valencia, 2017). It is possible the marijuana
grow operations are connected in some way to the killings. Due to there being more than one crime
scene within close proximity to each other, there may be multiple assailants in this crime. The
hypothesis drawn in this case can only be confirmed after an arrest of a suspect is made, this case

Maya Angelou chronicles her experiences in the early stages of her life. The book explains the
hardships, prejudices as well as the tragedies she went through as a child living in the deep South
during the segregation era. Angelou gradually tells her life story in first person perspective as a child,
tween, and eventual teen. Over the course of her life she gains knowledge and perspective which
eventually leads to her desire to be become an author and poet. As a child Angelou, born Marguerite

her trusted confidant. Nevertheless, Angelou would soon be introduced to a Ms. Flowers who showed

Essay about Edward Witten s Work Led to a Revolution
Witten was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He is the son of Lorraine (Wollach) Witten and Louis
Witten, a theoretical physicist specializing in gravitation and general relativity.[3]
Witten attended the Park School of Baltimore (class of 68), and received his Bachelor of Arts with a
major in history and minor in linguistics from Brandeis University in 1971. He published articles in
The New Republic and The Nation. In 1968, Witten published an article in The Nation arguing that the
New Left had no strategy.[4] He worked briefly for George McGovern s presidential campaign.
McGovern lost the 1972 election in a landslide to Richard Nixon.

student before ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the late 1980s, Witten coined the term topological quantum field theory for a certain type of
physical theory in which the expectation values of observable quantities encode information about the
topology of spacetime.[5] In particular, Witten realized that a physical theory now called Chern
Simons theory could provide a framework for understanding the mathematical theory of knots and 3
manifolds.[6] Although Witten s work was based on the mathematically ill defined notion of a
Feynman path integral and was therefore not mathematically rigorous, mathematicians were able to
systematically develop Witten s ideas, leading to the theory of Reshetikhin Turaev invariants.[7]
Another result for which Witten was awarded the Fields Medal was his (nonrigorous) proof in 1981 of
the positive energy theorem in general relativity.[8] This theorem asserts that (under appropriate
assumptions) the total energy of a gravitating system is always positive and can be zero only if the
geometry of spacetime is that of flat Minkowski space. It establishes Minkowski space as a stable
ground state of the gravitational field. While the original proof of this result due to Richard Schoen
and Shing Tung Yau used variational methods,[9][10] Witten s proof used ideas from supergravity
theory to simplify the argument.

Socioeconomic Status And Mental Health
Does one s socioeconomic status affect their mental health? Mental health is a broad category that
refers to our mental well being. Mental illness refers to many different conditions that impact our
mood, our emotions, our thinking, and our affect. Depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia are all
examples of mental health conditions. Socioeconomic status (SES) is a term that social scientists use
to capture many different factors. It refers to a person s income level, education, and general position
in society. It s essentially a combined measure of how we re doing. Lower socioeconomic status is
related to higher levels of mental illness. This is known as a negative correlation in research terms. In
other words, as one variable increases, the other decreases. In this case, as SES decreases, the
incidence of mental health issues generally increases. Socioeconomic status (SES) is evaluated as a
combination of factors, including income, level of education, and occupation. It is a way of looking at
how individuals or families fit into society using economic and social measures. Likewise, according
to Psychiatry.org, mental illnesses are health conditions involving changes in thinking, emotion or
behavior, or a combination of these. Mental illnesses are associated with distress and/or problems
functioning in social, work or family activities. Mental health is the foundation for thinking,
communication, learning, resilience and self esteem. Mental health is also key to

The Global War to the Great Depression
A horrific global war led to an equally heinous economic recession, triggering global fear and lack of
guidance. World leaders stood to the challenge of mending the shattered 100 year peace and economy
in Europe. America, it seemed, desired no part in this scramble for order, turning its back to the
international world. Through the Great War to the Great Depression, the transforming world not only
caused America to withdraw from the world, but also allowed Franklin Delano Roosevelt an
opportunity to refine all aspects of American standards and life. Despite only a brief participation in
the Great War, a diplomatically satiated America swiftly closed its doors to the international world.
However, this was not without good reason; according to Alan Brinkley, the United States government
had appropriated $32 billion for expenses directly relating to the conflict (621). At over 90% of the
national gross domestic product at the time, war expenses were an uncomfortable cost to American
leaders who, in addition to the post WWI recession where millions lost their jobs, decided America
needed a break internationally (Brinkley 621 632). Not only did America refuse to ratify the Treaty of
Versailles and the League of Nations, they disarmed military forces, severely limited immigration, and
passed one of the highest tariffs in United States history (Kennedy). As a result, the prosperous roaring
twenties involved not only economic growth and consumerism but also massive cultural

murder weapon was a .22 caliber handgun a small gun, generally carried by women and generally
intended for self defense. During her many trials, the recovered handgun, which Aileen had dumped in
a river, was forensically matched to four of her victims (5). Aileen s modus operandi was very
consistent across all of her crimes. She would pick up men as a hitchhiker, usually along I 75 (3).
Once in the vehicle, she would tell a sob story about trying to save up money to send for her children
(she had no dependents) and ask if there was anything she could do for them in exchange for a little
cash. She and the john would then drive off into the woods and settle on what services they wanted
and what the price would be. In interviews she

Contemporary Leadership Style Analysis
When it comes to contemporary leadership one size does not fit all. Contemporary leadership is a
melting pot of theories, approaches, models, and styles that helps an individual lead a group or people
or an organization. The trait theory is one example. It has its roots in leadership theory that suggested
that certain people were born with special traits that made them great leaders (Northouse, 2013). Next
is the skills approach which puts emphasis on the skills and competencies of the leader. Then there is
the style approach which is strikingly different from the trait and skill approaches to leadership
because the style approach focuses on what leaders do rather than who leaders are (Northouse, 2013).
Another contemporary leadership ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once leadership informed the candidates that they were selected to lead this initiative a lot of
pushback was experienced. This pushback was due primarily to a lack of communication and a fair
method involving the first level selection process. The individual may have the necessary traits and
behaviors needed to lead this initiative but the skills versus will mindset was not taken into
consideration. This thought process is also supported by Northouse (2013), who indicated the
drawback to this approach is that it has not adequately linked the traits of leaders with other outcomes

Mandatory Release In Prison Essay
A prison is a facility suited for behavior change as a result of breaking the legal rules that govern a
region. It involves denying of freedom for a certain period of time as per the ruling given by the judge
under a court of law. Over the years, handling of prisoners or inmates has changed. A number of better
legal processes are on the rise in order to ensure the rights of the individual are observed before he/she

New Brunswick s rate of youth criminally charged has been decreasing ever since the introduction of

The American Dream Is The Key To Good Life Essay
Life is a beautiful thing. It can be created out of almost nothing and it has been spurring on this Earth
for billions of years. We as humans have learned so much about ourselves and other organisms, yet the
method of creating it has escaped us for as long as we can remember. Perhaps our feeble minds are not
imaginative enough to unlock the secrets of the universe. Let us be concerned with other things while
we slowly advance in time. Things such as making the most out of ourselves and the life we were
given, to lead a good life. But what is a good life? Some say the American Dream is the key to a good
life. An ideology that is specific to the United States, but can be applied anywhere, it deals with the

We as humans have the ability to form intense emotional bonds with not only other humans, but other
animals. This is why we have the instinct to protect what we love, this is why we can become so close
with our family, our significant other, or our dog. Tying this together with doing things that you love
may be a basic formula for happiness. Being happy is almost certainly key to a great life. If you are
not happy with yourself, there is no way you can be happy with your life. We remedy this by finding
things that make us happy, hence the pursuit of happiness. This, unlike the others is actually an easily
proven method to enjoy life. You do not need heaps of money or the fame in the spotlight to finally
say that it was all good. So that is settled then, happiness is all you need right? Unfortunately this is
still not the case for many people. Many times greed can be the sole provider for some individuals.

would be ignorant to assume they are forever out of reach of happiness as they can fully experience it,

More than 2.9 million U.S. women with a history of breast cancer were alive on January 1, 2012.
There are some known risk factors for developing breast cancer. Women are at a higher risk than men.
Older women are at an increased risk, as most new cases and most deaths occurred in women over the
age of 50. There may be a genetic risk for some people; however, most breast cancer is not hereditary.
However, if a person has had breast cancer once they are more likely to develop it again. Other risk
factors include having very dense breast tissue, beginning menstruating before age 12, going through
menopause after age 55, being overweight, using hormone replacement therapy during menopause,
not having any children, or having your first child after the age of 35. While there is no absolute way
to prevent getting breast cancer, there are some things a woman can do to lower her risk of getting it.
First, she should limit the amount of alcohol she drinks. Next, she should not smoke cigarettes. Third,
she should lose weight if they need to, as being overweight or obese increases the risk of breast
cancer. Fourth, she should exercise regularly. Exercising can help maintain a healthy weight which
helps prevent breast cancer. Getting regular medical care and examining her body for symptoms of
breast cancer are also important. Women should examine their own breasts for the signs of breast
cancer regularly. Women should also have a

The Revolution Of The Haitian Revolution

the slaves in Rome led by Spartacus, The Zanj Rebellion in the Middle East, and The Civil War in the
United States. However, The Haitian Revolution is one of the most effective and swift Slave revolts of
all time. The causes of the Haitian Revolution were quite simple and was similar to any other kind of
slave revolt. Many ideas carried around by slave traders at the time such as treating slaves as property,
using social/racial classes, and oppressive control ultimately tipped the slaves over the edge. Ideas of
independence also sparked the revolution, and one key inspiration to the cause was The French

Because these people were being treated like property, they were accommodated with the barest
necessities and were given little to no food. These slaves looked for a way to vent their frustrations.
Through the Christian Religion, these slaves were able to unify under one belief. They grew confident
and more unified knowing they outnumbered the whites of the island ten to one. Some slaves escaped
their owners, and became what were known as Maroons. These escaped slaves lived in the mountains
of Jamaica. These rebels laid down the foundations of a black resistance towards the slave owners and

These Maroons alone threatened the British prospect of the sugar and slave industry. Slavery is one of

put blackworms into the Nicotine to look at the differences in pulse rates when compared to a control.
The proper name for blackworms is Lumbriculus Variegatus, they are freshwater worms most
commonly found in North America and Europe. The blood in blackworms circulates from the dorsal

Mean 15.4, Median 15
Table 1 shows the heart rates of worms in the control, their average heart rate is at 10.7 pulse/min.
Table 2 shows the worms in the 2.5mL of Nicotine which proved to be too strong. Table 3 shows the
heart rates of worms in the diluted solution of 2.5mL Nicotine and 1mL H2O. Table 3 shows that the
heart rate of worms is faster in the nicotine with the average pulse rate at 15.5 pulse/min.
This table shows the data for the 15 control worms in water and then the same 15 in Nicotine. There
are not 15 worms in the nicotine solution because our first solution was too strong and 6 of the worms
died. The solution being used in this graph is 2.5 mL of Nicotine and 1 mL H20. This graph shows that
the pulse rates of worms in Nicotine tend to be higher than that of the worms in water. This data
proves the idea that stimulants raise heart rate.

Essay on Informative Speech About China
Everybody, XinNianKuaiLe. Maybe some of you guys already know what this Chinese mean. It is

occurrence, Chinese New Year is also known as Spring Festival in China. The festival begins on the
first day of the first month, which is today, and ends on the 15th day of that month. As I had

Fish also play a large role in the celebrations. The word for fish, Yu sounds like the words both for and

Its shape look like a bag the has many gold coins inside. This dish is called Lion s Head Meatball.
They are cooked with oversized meatballs and some vegetable soup. The lion represents power and
strength in Chinese culture, while the oversized meatballs symbolize family reunion. Duck symbolizes
fidelity in chinese culture. Also, sweet and sour pork is popular with families hoping for a lot of
grandchildren because the Cantonese word for sour sounds like the word for grandchild. Cakes have a
special place in Chinese New year celebrations. Chinese people called them NianGow. NianGow is
made up of rice flour, wheat starch, water and sugar. Their sweetness symbolizes a rich and sweet life.
The family will then end the night with firecrackers. In the next morning, children will greet their
parents by wishing them a healthy and happy new year, and receive red packets. These red packets are
envelopes that are passed out during the Chinese New year s celebrations from married couples to
unmarried teenagers and children. Red packets almost always contain money, usually from a couple of

Effects on Trends in Trade Policy Essay
Effects on Trends in Trade Policy
The modernizing world of 1850 1870 belonged to an age of remarkable growth in international trade,
stimulating the largest free market the world had ever seen. Yet by 1914, only 30 years later, the trend
towards liberal trade policies had mostly ended, replaced by a revival of the protectionist system. A
study of the variation in trade policies over time shows a remarkable growth in the power of interest
groups to influence the institutional rules and regulations concerning international economic
intercourse. The initial major trend can be partly attributed to international conditions, whereas later
trends are more attributable to the relative strength of the interest groups within individual nations ...

This work was quickly expanded upon by David Ricardo who postulated the concepts of absolute and
comparative advantage, and who showed that every nation involved in trade benefited. The first group
of influential people to accept and use these arguments thus arose in Britain in the form of the
international merchants and industrialists.
Britain in 1832 expanded the franchise to the urban upper middle class, of whose numbers merchants
and industrialists constituted a significant amount. Thus at the same time the merchants were
beginning to advocate a liberalization of Britain s trade policy, they were also becoming empowered
to influence the parliamentary rules. Younger politicians intent on simplifying the government
architecture gained power as a result, including Robert Peel and William Huskisson.
The greatest barrier to free trade in Great Britain in the 1840s were the Corn Laws. The Corn Laws
principally benefited the landed aristocracy, the strongest group traditionally represented in
Parliament. Thus the landed aristocracy can and should be viewed as an institution as well as a
separate interest group, given their hegemony over policy within the nation for several centuries. The
rise of the merchant classes and the enfranchisement thereof provided the catalyst necessary to
promote a sweeping change of the traditional policies.

12. Why do thermonuclear reactions in the Sun take place only in its core? Thermonuclear reactions
take place when the nuclei of atoms are fused together due to extreme temperatures (G 13). The
temperature of the Suns core is 15.5 X 10^6 and at temperatures above 10 X 10^6 hydrogen fuses into
the element helium (hydrogen fusion). Therefore the core is the only place on the Sun where
Thermonuclear reactions are able to take place. Additionally the fusion that occurs in the Suns core is

Secondhand Smoking Persuasive Speech
It is a widely accepted fact that secondhand smoking is hazardous, and we have no real solutions.
Luckily, I have an idea to help solve this problem, but first I would like to go over some of the effects
of secondhand smoking. First is that secondhand smoking can cause lung cancer. Second is that it can
cause severe heart disease. Finally, third secondhand smoking is fatal to children. Now that I have told
you some of the dangerous effects I feel ready to share my idea. I, would like to propose that the state
of Utah pass a law requiring public areas such as parks or zoos to have designated smoking areas so
that the risk of secondhand smoking is greatly decreased. I believe that if you pass this law, it will
make a difference.
To begin with, I feel that making designated smoking areas in most public areas would be a good idea
because secondhand smoking greatly increases the chance of lung cancer. Cancer Research UK says

Themes In Coming Of Age Stories
Coming of age stories are a very relatable genre of literature. The underlying plot line in coming of
age stories involve the main character, an adolescent, experiencing a pivotal event that changes their
point of view on life (Peyette, n.d.). The event marks the adolescent s transition into adulthood. The
event can often be referred to as initiation. The stories are thought provoking and interesting to read
because they contain numerous underlying messages and themes that can serve as tools to
understanding life. In the coming of age stories The Old People , Doe Season , and The Grave the
imagery of blood is portrayed in a more positive light in the story focusing on a male character than in
the stories focusing on female characters.
In the coming of age story The Old People , Ike McCaslin, the main character, is being mentored by
Sam Fathers. Sam is a family friend to the McCaslin s who also has a very interesting ethnic
background, and he has strong ties to the Native American culture. Ike shot his first deer after chasing
a large buck around the forest. To everyone s surprise, excluding Sam, the large buck Ike chased
around the forest was nothing comparable to the creature everyone else saw in the forest. What lay
before Sam and Ike was a small yearling. Sam took some of the yearling s blood and put it on Ike s
forehead as a type of Native American ritual (Faulkner, 1940). The ritual almost seemed like Sam was

Women s Rights Violations Analysis
No woman can call herself free who does not control her own body, nor can no woman call herself
free until she can choose consciously whether she will or will not be a mother. Margaret Sanders, an
early feminist and birth control activist, strove greatly for women, especially in their stand for
contraceptives that would help prevent unwanted pregnancies. She understood that women become
greatly affected by the choice of having an abortion for that right alone assures them that they are in
complete control over their bodies. Denying women of this right would not only make it
unconstitutional, it would make it to where the woman does not even have the right to decide matters
regarding her own body. Stemming from that, there have been many ... Show more content on

From different aspects, there came different rights being violated and constrained. For example, there
are privacy rights, equality rights, bodily rights, reproductive rights and many more. Since abortion is
unconstitutional, it violated at least one of the amendments, which in fact, it violated more than one.
For instance, it violated the first and fourteenth amendment. It violated the first amendment by
violating women s religious freedom. Argued by Peter Wenz, he believed that it s a religious belief to
consider the fetus as a person before the twenty week gestation period, resulting in the violation of
religious freedom stated in the first amendment. The fourteenth amendment violated the basic rights of
citizens. ( Ethics: Abortion ). On the other hand, FOCA: Freedom of Choice Act, protects women.
FOCA states that every woman has the right to bear a child and terminate pregnancy before and after
viability of the fetus in order to protect the mother s life. Along with FOCA, women have body
sovereignty, which is when women have the right to decide matters regarding her body. Having the
choice over whether or not to have children is vital to women s independence and ability to determine
their own futures ( Rights of fetus ). Restrictions on abortion can take away the rights of women and
the aspect of equality rights. Women become deprived of their equalities in education, social life, and
economic life due to childbirth and having to raise children against their will. The restrictions set forth
the layout of the mother s life, therefore, taking away her equal rights to her own life( Equality
Arguments ). With the case of minor mothers, there are some restrictions set because they re underage.

King Henry Viii Influence
King Henry VIII was one of the most infamous monarchs in English History. King Henry VIII gained
legitimacy through the Elitist Theory and the power from his father, he gained power the Coercion

becoming Protestant. King Henry VIII used the power from his father successfully which led him to
gaining legitimacy. Henry also took advantage of the killing of his wives in order to show power.

And among these forces Machiavelli was one. In history, then, as opposed to history play, Machiavelli
s influence may have been more direct; but, in any event, Machiavellianism is a valid and serviceable
term for describing the harsher political ambience of Henry VIII, especially as it applies, in turn, to
Buckingham, Wolsey, and Henry (McBride 1977). King Henry created the Church of England just to

getting married for only two reasons, getting a son and gaining a coalition. He went against the

Incompetence Is Considered An Effective Employee
If an employee has been guilty of serious misconduct, habitual neglect of duty, incompetence or
conduct incompatible with his duties, or prejudicial to the employer s business, or if he has been guilty
of willful disobedience to the employer s orders in a matter of substance, the law recognizes the
employer s right summarily to dismiss the delinquent employee.
This definition of just cause, which was set in 1967 by the Ontario Court of Appeal, continues to be

The employer may even input a program to assist the employee in increasing their performance.
Unionized or tenured employees are a special case when it comes to being able to dismiss an
incompetent employee. For example, a professor, who has tenure, fits the special case of an employee
who has worked for numerous years in the position and is then seemingly guaranteed the job for life.
College administrators frequently claim that faculty tenure prevents them from adapting the
curriculum more effectively to accommodate changes in the economy and to the patterns of student
demand. Which is why some commentators, of course, welcome the collapse of the tenure system,
saying tenure provides job security for indolent and incompetent professors. 4 Situations as above,
makes people question why professors with tenure are able to get away with being incompetent, but
other employees need to be careful and avoid it.
The current precedent case in Canada acting as the authority in situations of dismissal on grounds of
incompetence can be found in the Manitoba Court of Queen s Bench ruling of Boulet v. Federated Co

Dehydration Of 2-Methylcyclohexanol Lab Report
The dehydration of 2 Methylcyclohexanol was completed using an acid catalyzed dehydration
reaction between 2 Methylcyclohexanol and sulfuric acid. In this acid catalyzed dehydration reaction,
the oxygen atom is first protonated, the oxonium ion is then endothermically decomposed into a
carbocation and water, and finally the loss of a proton from an adjacent carbon atom forms an alkene.
Due to the presence of carbocation rearrangement, three products are formed as shown below in
Figure 1.
Figure 1: Acid Catalyzed Dehydration of 2 Methylcyclohexanol into 1 Methylcyclohexene, 3
Methylcyclohecene, and Methylenecyclohexane
Through an initial hydro distillation, a liquid liquid extraction, and a final hydro distillation, the full
acid catalyzed dehydration of 2 Methylcyclohexanol was completed. Using 25 mL of 2
Methylcyclohexanol, 52.021% of 1 Methylcyclohexene was recovered and 12.652% of 3

The Effect Of Ph On Enzyme Activity Of Peroxidase
Effect of pH on Enzyme Activity of Peroxidase
Thomas Stinde
March 15, 2016
Coconino Community College Effect of pH on Enzyme Activity of Peroxidase
For us to understand what the effects pH have on enzyme activity of peroxidase, we must first define
what an enzyme is and what is done as well as a peroxidase. According to the Oxford Dictionary of
English, an enzyme is, a substance produced by a living organism which acts as a catalyst to bring
about a specific biochemical reaction (Oxford Dictionary, 2012). Nearly all enzymes are proteins
which have large complex molecules whose actions depends on their molecular shape. Some enzymes
dictate reactions inside cells and some, such as enzymes which deal with digestion, outside the cell
(Oxford Dictionary, 2012). The factors which affect enzyme activity are the environmental conditions.
If these conditions are changed, then the enzyme reaction rate is altered. In nature, organisms will
make adjustments to their enzyme conditions to create an optimal reaction rate, when needed, or the
organisms will contain enzymes which are modified to operate efficiently in extreme environments
where they live. Peroxidase is, an enzyme that catalyses the oxidation of a particular substrate by
hydrogen peroxide (Oxford Dictionary, 2012). Hydrogen peroxide is a byproduct of cellular
respiration; therefore, the peroxidase is located in the cytoplasm of the cell.
In our lab, we checked the reaction rate of peroxidase and tried to find the

The Provision Of Sale And Other Instruments Act 1955 ( Qld )
Deeds are most commonly used in connection with the transfer of land or the creation of a trust,
although they may also be used to transfer goods by way of gift.
A deed must be made in writing, signed and sealed by the donor (and usually contains the words
signed, sealed and delivered as evidence that this requirement has been satisfied) and delivered to the
donee. A bill of sale is another way of selling goods and can be used to create a security right in goods.
The execution of a bill of sale causes legal ownership of the goods to pass to the buyer.

The Sale of Goods Act 1896 (Qld) provides certain rules for the passing of ownership in goods: ●
parties are not required to undergo formalities in order to make a valid contract for the sale of goods;
● the goods subject to the contract must be identified or described when the contract is made; and ●
the title to the property in the goods passes from buyer to seller when the parties intend it to, which
may be ascertained from the terms of the contract, conduct of the parties and circumstances of the
transaction.
The legislation also provides several rules for ascertaining the parties intentions in the absence of
evidence to the contrary. So, for example, if there is an unconditional contract for the sale of specific
goods in a deliverable state, property passes when the contract is made, even if payment or delivery is
postponed. In addition, if the seller must do something to put the goods into a deliverable state,
property will pass when that has taken place and notice has been given to the buyer. However, the
statutory rules are only intended to apply to matters which have been left unspecified by the parties
and so will only apply if the parties have not made alternative arrangements.

Ellipsis Of Subjects And Objects In Mandarin Chinese
Ellipsis of Subjects and Objects in Mandarin Chinese
Mandarin Chinese as one of the unique languages in the world has many significant features, and one
of them is ellipsis of subjects and objects. In English, a complete sentence consists of at least three
basic elements which are a subject, an object, and a verb. However, compare with English, Mandarin
Chinese does not have strict grammatical rules to form a complete sentence because people can leave
out subjects or objects when they talk to each other. Although there are many sentences in Mandarin
Chinese lack of subjects or objects, the sentences are still clear and grammatically correct. Therefore,
can we conclude that subjects and objects are not necessary for spoken Mandarin Chinese? In other
words, when can a speaker omit the subject or the object in Mandarin Chinese?
Ellipsis of subjects also occurs in spoken English, but it normally in a set phrase. For example, people
often say see you tomorrow rather than I will see you tomorrow. Moreover, due to grammatical
requirement, not every sentence in English can omit the subject. Although sometimes the sentence is
still understandable without the subject, the meaning will become ambiguous. Compare with English,
ellipsis of subjects is more common in spoken Mandarin Chinese. Unlike English, it does not have any
grammatical restriction and can be used in any sentence. Therefore, In order to have a better
understanding of ellipsis of subjects and objects in Mandarin Chinese, I use examples from video
recording that I recorded in an apartment. There are two participants in the video and both of them are
native Chinese speaker. Two participants know each other very well, and the conversation topic is
about the Animation class that female speaker takes this quarter.
In the conversation, the female speaker omits subjects constantly, and the listener can still understand
what she wants to say and respond to her. For example, the female speaker says:
(1). 在 上面 一个劲 地 讲. zai shangmian yigrjing de jiang.
At top continuously C talk
(He) talks continuously at the stage.
This sentence is a typical incomplete sentence in spoken Mandarin Chinese. The speaker wants to say

Remedies Under Breach Of Contract
1.3 Remedies available under breach of contract
1.3.1 Breach of a Contract
A breach of contract is where a party to a contract fails to perform, precisely and faithfully, his
obligations under the contract. This can take numerous forms for example, the failure to supply goods
or perform a service as agreed. Breach of contract may be either actual or anticipatory.
 Actual breach occurs where one party refuses to form his side of the bargain on the due date or
performs incompletely. For example: Poussard v Spiers and Bettini v Gye.
 Anticipatory breach occurs where one party announces, in advance of the due date for performance,
that he intends not to perform his side of the bargain. The innocent party might sue for damages

breach. The court might order the breaching party to pay money to the non breaching party.Without a
remedial response; a right would be of little value. Thus the law has established a series of remedial
responses where a breach of contract befalls. The innocent party might keep a right of action by

Mansa Mus A Short Story
The sun is beating down upon us and we are resting in this lively city for our next travels. Look over
there! Why are they carrying so much gold into their palace? The slave points out. I ve heard rumors
of Mansa Musa not talking to the other king. Why do you think that is so? I hear a random voice
exclaims. It is very loud here and it is very hard to collect my thoughts to write a journal akin this.
Traveling to other towns and writing has been easy, but never has it been this loud before. I akin this

How We Connect Makes All The Difference Summary
What Is a Healthy Self ? Adolescents who are able to learn and develop, and then determine who they
are for themselves often reflect a healthier sense of self. Children who strive to be who their parents or
others who influence them want them to be, often become detached from their internal sense of self
and do not properly develop. Dr. Levin discusses many disruptors of self development in children
from affluent homes such as constant pressures to adopt a social facile, high levels of competitiveness,
performance oriented praise, and an unblemished reputation. At the same time, affluent parents tend to

There are many different parenting styles that help children develop healthy lifestyles. Dr. Levine
focuses this chapter on the authoritarian, permissive and authoritative parents. The authoritarian
parent, or the do as your told parent as stated in the book, focuses on strict rules for their children.
These parents carry a strong because I said so ideology and end up hurting their kids more than they
help. These kids end up with low self esteem and high rates of depression. The permissive parent, or
the do your own thing parent, focus more on a friendship with their child other than a respectful parent
child relationship. These parents have trouble disciplining their child and don t teach their children
correct skills to take responsibility for their actions. The last parenting style, the authoritative parent,
are accepting of their child, but also have clear rules and expectations. These parents have appropriate
discipline while also focusing on how to better their child. The children of these types of parents have
better grades, better social skills and are all around happier. In this chapter, Dr. Levine also focuses on
correct ways to be accepting and invested in your child and how important it is to praise effort instead

Linguistic Impact Essay
Linguistic Impact In the field of Modern Languages and Linguistics, words are of great importance. A
language s phonology (study of how sounds are organized and used), morphology (study of the form
and structure of words), syntax (study of the rules that govern sentence structure), semantics (study of
meaning of words, sentences, and expressions), pragmatics (study of aspects of meaning and language
use and context), and phonetics (study of human speech sounds) all play an important part in everyday
life. These have a major impact in understanding the intent of what is spoken or heard. Due to the
importance of communication, literary elements such as metaphors (which are defined as a figure of

They have migrated from a variety of different countries and all have brought their distinct ideologies,
beliefs and cultures. Through the study of aspects of their language and literature much can be learned
about the people. Hispanic identity and culture are connected with their language and literature
therefore metaphors are meaningful. Due to the diversity of the Hispanic culture, some metaphors
have varying points of origin although the meanings are the same. There is, for instance, the saying,
De tal palo, tal astilla ; which literally means from such a stick such a splinter (Cuentos y dichos) . Its
actual meaning is like father like son or a chip off the old block. Although it is of Mexican origin, it
has been widely used throughout Latin America and is familiar to most Spanish speakers. Another
common metaphor is Estar hasta el gorro. It literally means to be up to the hat. The English translation
is to be fed up (with) (Larousse Dictionary). It is so widely used that no particular place of origin is
given. Most Spanish metaphors were created based on the work, activities or images common to that
particular country. For example, the population in the Dominican Republic contains a racial mixture of
Black, White and Mestizo (mixed Spanish and Indian ancestry). A common metaphor used by
Dominicans is Cabello muerto. Its literal meaning is Dead Head. But, the actual meaning is a person

Peter Jackson Controversy
The legendary Peter Jackson, director of the Lord of The Rings Series and The Hobbit movies, jumped
at the chance to see the world famous super villain s newest movie scene. Rogue One, the newest
edition the the Star Wars franchise, hit theaters in December of 2016 and made a box office killing,
mainly because of the notable appearance of Darth Vader. The trailers leading up to the movie hinted
at his astounding feature and many Star Wars fans were desperate to see some of the action first hand.
One of these people just so happened to be Peter Jackson, an avid fan of the Original Trilogy. Edwards
knew Jackson was in town so he called Jackson and asked him if he wanted to see the newest (and
possibly the last) Darth Vader scene which, of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is supported by my favorite quote of the article, We were at Pinewood and Peter Jackson was in
town. We were like, oh we should get Peter along, we should try and get him to come , Edwards
explained to Empire for its latest podcast special. Empire is a film review site in which they rate the
newest movies to be released, they conduct interviews with the directors and actors, and also give
short summaries of the movies that they are rating. Peter Jackson explains in one of his interviews that
he s always enjoyed making movies and inspired by watching movies, Star Wars being among his
favorites. With the immediate response to the email sent by Edwards, he shows tremendous interest in
the manga, so much so, that he would even take a directing role to supervise it and introduce a whole
new world to the Star Wars series. Jackson later goes on to say in an interview with Cinemablend,

Why I Want To Be A Special Forces Job Essay
I am writing about the occupation known as Special Forces. I am very interested in this occupation
because I love military careers, and I love the feeling of adventure. The reason i want to be a special
forces team member, is because my papa fought in Vietnam in the U.S. Air Force but was sent back
home when my Grammy was having my mom. My brother was in the U.S. Army when he was driving
a humvee down a route when the humvee in front of him was blown up. I have wanted to be in the
Military since i was about 6, I have always loved the military with a passion, but I don t necessarily
know why, I just feel its in my blood. When any branch of the Military has trouble carrying out, or
conducting missions, they call in the Elite teams known as Special Forces Teams, or Spec Ops Teams.
Each individual is highly trained in hand to hand combat, scuba diving, parachuting, and surviving the
outdoors alone (okcis Special Forces).
The working schedule for this occupation is very different than any other occupation in the world. The
special forces team members may be on leave for a week, but ... Show more content on

Only men can be apart of any special forces team. What might be an expected sequence for
advancement in this occupation? I personally think that advancement should come from the amount of
time and effort you have in the service, how many successful missions, and who has the least amount
of unexpected casualties. To become a leader of a Spec Ops team, you must have some serious time
put into it, and must be well decorated because they don t just let someone who just joined the team
jump straight to leader. They want someone who has a lot of experience and knows what they are
doing. It must be really awesome to know that you are call upon to do the missions and things that
other people have tried and either failed completing, too tough for them, or just they need a team that
is highly trained in that

The Impact Of Music On Secondary Education
Some of the most significant problems facing parents, teachers, and students is the impact of music on
secondary education. Parents and teachers alike, are continuously trying to cut the ties between
secondary students and the influences of bad music during the school day. More research is being
done on this topic to educate students, parents, and teachers. One of the main reasons secondary
students are still influenced by music during the school day is because of the lack of research. Studies
are continuously being made on this subject. In Lost in Translation: An Enculturation Effect in Music
Memory Performance , researchers and students at the University of California, with the help of their
professors, took participants who spoke English or Turkish and played music in their native tongue/
language while they read a book to see if the participants remember the music played or the book read
(Demorest, Steven M., et al.). After the study, the author states The results suggest that our cognitive
schemata for musical information are culturally derived . In conclusion the participants remembered
the music in their native tongue/ language rather than the novel they were reading. As studies like
these continue, students will become more educated on the impact of music on their secondary
education and their ancestors . Music plays an important role in culture and is a strong influence on
today s youth (White,2007). In This Is Your Brain on Music: the Science of a Human

Adair Alternate Ending
Adair! Stephanie calls, sorry to say, but you re on trash duty now. Amira quit. Really? Adair asks,
okay. He sighs and makes his way to the back; picking up the bag of trash slumped against the wall
and carrying it to the back door, grunting and groaning. He pushes the door open and steps into the
dim alley backing the restaurant, shivering against the bitter November cold. He fumbles with the keys
in his pocket until he finds the right one for the garbage. He hears a banging noise and spins around.
There s a man standing behind him, he stares at Adair with fearful eyes. His thin sweater pulled tightly
around his frail body. Its fine, I m not gonna hurt you, Adair murmurs. He turns back towards the
garbage bag and looks through it. He pulls out a bag of buns and holds it out to the man. ... Show more

of the restaurant. Cold out there, eh? one of his coworkers asks. He nods and gives her a smile. The
next day at work is quiet. It s always quiet on Mondays. The servers all stand around, talking amongst
themselves. Occasionally someone will come in, but not nearly as many as the night before. One of
the cooks brings out a bag of trash and calls Adair over. Hey! Garbage Boy! Get over here, Adair
scowls and snatches the bag out of the cook s hand. He goes outside and is surprised to see the same
man sitting outside. Once again he fishes something out of the bag for him. Hey, what s your name?

Abortion Is The Most Common Medical Procedures Essay
Abortion is removing the fetus or embryo from the uterus before it is ready to be born. Spontaneous,
which is also referred to as a miscarriage and the purposeful abortion, which is an induced abortion
are the two major forms of abortion. Having a professional medical procedure conducted for an
induced abortion is the safest way to handle the abortion under the local law. Annually, abortions are
the most common medical procedures done in the United States, over 40 percent of women have
terminated a pregnancy at least once in their life. Most woman who go through the procedure to
terminate her pregnancy are most likely poor, unmarried, or over the age of 40 years (Berer, 2004).
Besides the professional procedures, there are also many instances of unsafe abortions, which are
conducted by untrained professionals and can cause horrid outcomes to the woman. Abortion was
legalized by the Supreme Court in 1973 through the Roe v. Wade decision making the procedure safer.
Over 75 thousand maternal deaths happen annually and over 20 million abortions are conducted in the
United States alone, about 10 million are not safely conducted. Woman have many reasons for
wanting to go through with the procedure, including disease, trauma, genetic defect or biochemical
incompatibility of the mother and the fetus. There are valid reasons why people shouldn t go through
with the procedure, it s morally wrong, but it doesn t give the right for someone to make a law for
woman to not make their own

Folk Music Influence On American Culture
There are many things that influence cultures around the world, some of these things being big and
some of these things being small. One of the largest impacts on cultures would be music and poetry. It
seems that these two things, more than anything else, tie people together and give them common
grounds (Earhart). These two things not only have the power to tie people together but they also have
the ability to tear them apart. For example music has influenced the way people dress, act, and even
talk (Syncrat).
A great example in American history of how music has influenced a culture would be the rise of folk
music during the 20th century. Among other things The Civil Rights Movement was in full swing and
the largely unpopular war in Vietnam was well underway ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Folk music was also known as music for the masses due to the fact that so many people were involved
in the making and listening to it. When the culture became aware of the negativity around them and
the radical changes that necessary it gave the common folk a need for expression. Music was not
being used for the first time not only a vehicle for expression, but also as s way to mobilize and inspire
the listeners to think differently and take action to change their conditions (Music s Effects on People
and Culture).
There were certain songs that became like anthems for particular generations. Examples of this would
be Bob Dylan s Blowin in the Wind which talks about finding answers to questions, another would be
John Lennon s Imagine which talks about imagining a world without all the negative things where
people love each other instead of hate on another. There were songs that brought together countries in
times of national crisis such as God Bless America. These songs created a sense that people can relate
to one another that no one is out there dealing with things all alone (Music s Effects on People and

Channel Partitioning Essay
In data communication, they are always striving to increase throughput, this would include allowing
nodes to transmit information over a single broadcast link without interfering with each other. To
achieve this, multiple access protocols coordinate the transmission. There are three classes of multiple
access protocols, random access, taking turns and channel partitioning. With random access protocol,
each node tries to randomly to access the complete broadcast link, without any regard to the other
nodes. Taking turns protocol utilizes some type of turning mechanism, which designates which node is
allowed to transmit. Channel partitioning protocol divides the channel (time slots, frequency, code)
and assigns them evenly between all of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are numerous of taking turn protocols, two are polling protocol and token passing protocol. The
polling protocol requires one of the node to be designated as a master node. The master polls each of
the nodes in a round robin fashion. The master first sends a message to node 1, saying that it can
transmit. After node 1 transmits, the master sends a message to node 2 it can transmit The master
determines when a node has finished sending its frames by observing the lack of a signal on the
channel. The procedure continues in this manner, with the master polling each of the nodes in a cyclic
manner. (Kurose 459) An advantage of this type of protocol is it avoids collisions, since nodes are
only allowed to transmit when they are given access to the channel. Disadvantage to polling, are
delays, as transmitters have to wait for the poll and the centralization with the requirement for a
master to conduct the polling, if it fails the entire channel becomes inoperative. Token passing
protocol there is no master node, instead special purpose frame known as a token is exchanged among
the nodes in some order. When a node receives a token, it holds onto the token only if it has some
frames to transmit; otherwise, it immediately forwards the token to the next node. If a node does have
frames to transmit when it receives the token, it sends up to a maximum number of frames and then
forwards the token to the next node. (Kurose 459) Advantage of token passing protocol is it

  • 2. Plot Twist In Narrative Plot twist occurs near or at the conclusion of a story. It is an unexpected conclusion to a work of fiction that causes to reevaluate the whole plot and characters. When a plot twist happens it changes one s view of the preceding events, it is also known as a surprise ending or twist ending. It provides ideas for unexpected turns in the course of narrative. O.Henry has profoundly used this technique in almost all his stories. There are many mechanics by which twisted endings are created. • 3. Comparing Rebekah s Essay Individual And Community Geoff Ward ENG 101 Composition C. Hammond 14 Oct 14 Collective independence. Individual and community are two words whose meanings contrast each other. An individual is one who is not reliant on others and exists as its own entity. A community however, is a group of individuals, whose efforts are combined and improved with help from others, therefore becoming reliant on each other. Both Rebekah Nathan and Kwame Anthony Appiah speak a great deal on what makes or breaks a community, what brings individuals together and what separates them. I argue that communities are successful when individuals are made to feel like their identity is maintained, and their voice carries weight. • 5. Title Ix And Female Athletes Essay Title IX is a federal law passed in 1972 guaranteeing girls and women access to equal sports opportunites as boys and men. Title IX in athletics is a very controversial issue that has opened up the world of athletics for millions of women all across the United States. Although it is a win for women athletes, it has created an issue for male athletic programs sufforing from the effects of Title IX. This literary review shows the phenomenon of Title IX and how it affects participation in female sports. It shows the contriversy of Title IX opening doors for female athletes and closing doors for male athletes. It also explores the discrimination still in affect towards women in all sports. It also explores the issues Title IX rasies in both male and female sports. For years sexual discrimination has plagued women in both the public and private spheres, and has not allowed sufficient growth for women to reach the same equal level as men. The fight for equality amongst the sexes has been an ongoing battle for decades, and there are people who say sufficient progress has been made for women and that no other implementations must be made or that digression should take place, while there are many activists who continue to push for more of a change. Title IX was created and set into place in order to eliminate sexual discrimination in all areas of education and programs, especially in the area of athletics. He is the son of Lorraine (Wollach) Witten and Louis Witten, a theoretical physicist specializing in gravitation and general relativity.[3] Witten attended the Park School of Baltimore (class of 68), and received his Bachelor of Arts with a major in history and minor in linguistics from Brandeis University in 1971. He published articles in The New Republic and The Nation. In 1968, Witten published an article in The Nation arguing that the New Left had no strategy.[4] He worked briefly for George McGovern s presidential campaign. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the late 1980s, Witten coined the term topological quantum field theory for a certain type of physical theory in which the expectation values of observable quantities encode information about the topology of spacetime.[5] In particular, Witten realized that a physical theory now called Chern Simons theory could provide a framework for understanding the mathematical theory of knots and 3 manifolds.[6] Although Witten s work was based on the mathematically ill defined notion of a Feynman path integral and was therefore not mathematically rigorous, mathematicians were able to systematically develop Witten s ideas, leading to the theory of Reshetikhin Turaev invariants.[7] Another result for which Witten was awarded the Fields Medal was his (nonrigorous) proof in 1981 of the positive energy theorem in general relativity.[8] This theorem asserts that (under appropriate assumptions) the total energy of a gravitating system is always positive and can be zero only if the geometry of spacetime is that of flat Minkowski space. It establishes Minkowski space as a stable ground state of the gravitational field. While the original proof of this result due to Richard Schoen and Shing Tung Yau used variational methods,[9][10] Witten s proof used ideas from supergravity theory to simplify the argument. • 10. Socioeconomic Status And Mental Health Does one s socioeconomic status affect their mental health? Mental health is a broad category that refers to our mental well being. Mental illness refers to many different conditions that impact our mood, our emotions, our thinking, and our affect. Depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia are all examples of mental health conditions. Socioeconomic status (SES) is a term that social scientists use to capture many different factors. It refers to a person s income level, education, and general position in society. It s essentially a combined measure of how we re doing. Lower socioeconomic status is related to higher levels of mental illness. This is known as a negative correlation in research terms. In other words, as one variable increases, the other decreases. In this case, as SES decreases, the incidence of mental health issues generally increases. Socioeconomic status (SES) is evaluated as a combination of factors, including income, level of education, and occupation. It is a way of looking at how individuals or families fit into society using economic and social measures. Likewise, according to Psychiatry.org, mental illnesses are health conditions involving changes in thinking, emotion or behavior, or a combination of these. Mental illnesses are associated with distress and/or problems functioning in social, work or family activities. Mental health is the foundation for thinking, communication, learning, resilience and self esteem. Mental health is also key to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Global War to the Great Depression A horrific global war led to an equally heinous economic recession, triggering global fear and lack of guidance. World leaders stood to the challenge of mending the shattered 100 year peace and economy in Europe. America, it seemed, desired no part in this scramble for order, turning its back to the international world. Through the Great War to the Great Depression, the transforming world not only caused America to withdraw from the world, but also allowed Franklin Delano Roosevelt an opportunity to refine all aspects of American standards and life. Despite only a brief participation in the Great War, a diplomatically satiated America swiftly closed its doors to the international world. However, this was not without good reason; according to Alan Brinkley, the United States government had appropriated $32 billion for expenses directly relating to the conflict (621). At over 90% of the national gross domestic product at the time, war expenses were an uncomfortable cost to American leaders who, in addition to the post WWI recession where millions lost their jobs, decided America needed a break internationally (Brinkley 621 632). Not only did America refuse to ratify the Treaty of Versailles and the League of Nations, they disarmed military forces, severely limited immigration, and passed one of the highest tariffs in United States history (Kennedy). • 13. Contemporary Leadership Style Analysis When it comes to contemporary leadership one size does not fit all. Contemporary leadership is a melting pot of theories, approaches, models, and styles that helps an individual lead a group or people or an organization. The trait theory is one example. It has its roots in leadership theory that suggested that certain people were born with special traits that made them great leaders (Northouse, 2013). Next is the skills approach which puts emphasis on the skills and competencies of the leader. Then there is the style approach which is strikingly different from the trait and skill approaches to leadership because the style approach focuses on what leaders do rather than who leaders are (Northouse, 2013). If you are not happy with yourself, there is no way you can be happy with your life. We remedy this by finding things that make us happy, hence the pursuit of happiness. This, unlike the others is actually an easily proven method to enjoy life. You do not need heaps of money or the fame in the spotlight to finally say that it was all good. So that is settled then, happiness is all you need right? Unfortunately this is still not the case for many people. Many times greed can be the sole provider for some individuals. The seven deadly sins actually do a decent job of covering how bad in life can outweigh the good. It would be ignorant to assume they are forever out of reach of happiness as they can fully experience it, within their own terms if need be. There is a bit of them within all of ... More than 2.9 million U.S. women with a history of breast cancer were alive on January 1, 2012. There are some known risk factors for developing breast cancer. Women are at a higher risk than men. Older women are at an increased risk, as most new cases and most deaths occurred in women over the age of 50. There may be a genetic risk for some people; however, most breast cancer is not hereditary. However, if a person has had breast cancer once they are more likely to develop it again. Other risk factors include having very dense breast tissue, beginning menstruating before age 12, going through menopause after age 55, being overweight, using hormone replacement therapy during menopause, not having any children, or having your first child after the age of 35. While there is no absolute way to prevent getting breast cancer, there are some things a woman can do to lower her risk of getting it. First, she should limit the amount of alcohol she drinks. Next, she should not smoke cigarettes. Third, she should lose weight if they need to, as being overweight or obese increases the risk of breast cancer. Fourth, she should exercise regularly. Exercising can help maintain a healthy weight which helps prevent breast cancer. Getting regular medical care and examining her body for symptoms of breast cancer are also important. Women should examine their own breasts for the signs of breast cancer regularly. Women should also have a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The causes of the Haitian Revolution were quite simple and was similar to any other kind of slave revolt. Some slaves escaped their owners, and became what were known as Maroons. These escaped slaves lived in the mountains of Jamaica. Yet by 1914, only 30 years later, the trend towards liberal trade policies had mostly ended, replaced by a revival of the protectionist system. A study of the variation in trade policies over time shows a remarkable growth in the power of interest groups to influence the institutional rules and regulations concerning international economic intercourse. This work was quickly expanded upon by David Ricardo who postulated the concepts of absolute and comparative advantage, and who showed that every nation involved in trade benefited. The first group of influential people to accept and use these arguments thus arose in Britain in the form of the international merchants and industrialists. Britain in 1832 expanded the franchise to the urban upper middle class, of whose numbers merchants and industrialists constituted a significant amount. Thus at the same time the merchants were beginning to advocate a liberalization of Britain s trade policy, they were also becoming empowered to influence the parliamentary rules. Younger politicians intent on simplifying the government architecture gained power as a result, including Robert Peel and William Huskisson. The greatest barrier to free trade in Great Britain in the 1840s were the Corn Laws. The Corn Laws principally benefited the landed aristocracy, the strongest group traditionally represented in Parliament. Thus the landed aristocracy can and should be viewed as an institution as well as a separate interest group, given their hegemony over policy within the nation for several centuries. The rise of the merchant classes and the enfranchisement thereof provided the catalyst necessary to promote a sweeping change of the traditional policies. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It violated the first amendment by violating women s religious freedom. Argued by Peter Wenz, he believed that it s a religious belief to consider the fetus as a person before the twenty week gestation period, resulting in the violation of religious freedom stated in the first amendment. The fourteenth amendment violated the basic rights of citizens. ( Ethics: Abortion ). On the other hand, FOCA: Freedom of Choice Act, protects women. The Effect Of Ph On Enzyme Activity Of Peroxidase Effect of pH on Enzyme Activity of Peroxidase Thomas Stinde March 15, 2016 Coconino Community College Effect of pH on Enzyme Activity of Peroxidase For us to understand what the effects pH have on enzyme activity of peroxidase, we must first define what an enzyme is and what is done as well as a peroxidase. According to the Oxford Dictionary of English, an enzyme is, a substance produced by a living organism which acts as a catalyst to bring about a specific biochemical reaction (Oxford Dictionary, 2012). Nearly all enzymes are proteins which have large complex molecules whose actions depends on their molecular shape. Some enzymes dictate reactions inside cells and some, such as enzymes which deal with digestion, outside the cell (Oxford Dictionary, 2012). The factors which affect enzyme activity are the environmental conditions. If these conditions are changed, then the enzyme reaction rate is altered. In nature, organisms will make adjustments to their enzyme conditions to create an optimal reaction rate, when needed, or the organisms will contain enzymes which are modified to operate efficiently in extreme environments where they live. Peroxidase is, an enzyme that catalyses the oxidation of a particular substrate by hydrogen peroxide (Oxford Dictionary, 2012). So, for example, if there is an unconditional contract for the sale of specific goods in a deliverable state, property passes when the contract is made, even if payment or delivery is postponed. In addition, if the seller must do something to put the goods into a deliverable state, property will pass when that has taken place and notice has been given to the buyer. • 38. Ellipsis Of Subjects And Objects In Mandarin Chinese Ellipsis of Subjects and Objects in Mandarin Chinese Mandarin Chinese as one of the unique languages in the world has many significant features, and one of them is ellipsis of subjects and objects. In English, a complete sentence consists of at least three basic elements which are a subject, an object, and a verb. However, compare with English, Mandarin Chinese does not have strict grammatical rules to form a complete sentence because people can leave out subjects or objects when they talk to each other. Although there are many sentences in Mandarin Chinese lack of subjects or objects, the sentences are still clear and grammatically correct. Therefore, can we conclude that subjects and objects are not necessary for spoken Mandarin Chinese? In other words, when can a speaker omit the subject or the object in Mandarin Chinese? Ellipsis of subjects also occurs in spoken English, but it normally in a set phrase. For example, people often say see you tomorrow rather than I will see you tomorrow. Moreover, due to grammatical requirement, not every sentence in English can omit the subject. Although sometimes the sentence is still understandable without the subject, the meaning will become ambiguous. Compare with English, ellipsis of subjects is more common in spoken Mandarin Chinese. Unlike English, it does not have any grammatical restriction and can be used in any sentence. Therefore, In order to have a better understanding of ellipsis of subjects and objects in Mandarin Chinese, I use examples from video recording that I recorded in an apartment. There are two participants in the video and both of them are native Chinese speaker. Two participants know each other very well, and the conversation topic is about the Animation class that female speaker takes this quarter. In the conversation, the female speaker omits subjects constantly, and the listener can still understand what she wants to say and respond to her. For example, the female speaker says: (1). 在 上面 一个劲 地 讲. zai shangmian yigrjing de jiang. At top continuously C talk (He) talks continuously at the stage. This sentence is a typical incomplete sentence in spoken Mandarin Chinese. The speaker wants to say that the Animation class lacks of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Remedies Under Breach Of Contract 1.3 Remedies available under breach of contract 1.3.1 Breach of a Contract A breach of contract is where a party to a contract fails to perform, precisely and faithfully, his obligations under the contract. This can take numerous forms for example, the failure to supply goods or perform a service as agreed. Breach of contract may be either actual or anticipatory.  Actual breach occurs where one party refuses to form his side of the bargain on the due date or performs incompletely. For example: Poussard v Spiers and Bettini v Gye.  Anticipatory breach occurs where one party announces, in advance of the due date for performance, that he intends not to perform his side of the bargain. Parents and teachers alike, are continuously trying to cut the ties between secondary students and the influences of bad music during the school day. More research is being done on this topic to educate students, parents, and teachers. One of the main reasons secondary students are still influenced by music during the school day is because of the lack of research. Studies are continuously being made on this subject. In Lost in Translation: An Enculturation Effect in Music Memory Performance , researchers and students at the University of California, with the help of their professors, took participants who spoke English or Turkish and played music in their native tongue/ language while they read a book to see if the participants remember the music played or the book read (Demorest, Steven M., et al.). After the study, the author states The results suggest that our cognitive schemata for musical information are culturally derived . In conclusion the participants remembered the music in their native tongue/ language rather than the novel they were reading. Spontaneous, which is also referred to as a miscarriage and the purposeful abortion, which is an induced abortion are the two major forms of abortion. Annually, abortions are the most common medical procedures done in the United States, over 40 percent of women have terminated a pregnancy at least once in their life. Most woman who go through the procedure to terminate her pregnancy are most likely poor, unmarried, or over the age of 40 years (Berer, 2004). One of the largest impacts on cultures would be music and poetry. It seems that these two things, more than anything else, tie people together and give them common grounds (Earhart). These two things not only have the power to tie people together but they also have the ability to tear them apart. For example music has influenced the way people dress, act, and even talk (Syncrat). Channel Partitioning Essay In data communication, they are always striving to increase throughput, this would include allowing nodes to transmit information over a single broadcast link without interfering with each other. To achieve this, multiple access protocols coordinate the transmission. There are three classes of multiple access protocols, random access, taking turns and channel partitioning. With random access protocol, each node tries to randomly to access the complete broadcast link, without any regard to the other nodes. Taking turns protocol utilizes some type of turning mechanism, which designates which node is allowed to transmit. Channel partitioning protocol divides the channel (time slots, frequency, code) and assigns them evenly between all of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are numerous of taking turn protocols, two are polling protocol and token passing protocol. The polling protocol requires one of the node to be designated as a master node. The master polls each of the nodes in a round robin fashion. The master first sends a message to node 1, saying that it can transmit. After node 1 transmits, the master sends a message to node 2 it can transmit The master determines when a node has finished sending its frames by observing the lack of a signal on the channel. The procedure continues in this manner, with the master polling each of the nodes in a cyclic manner. (Kurose 459) An advantage of this type of protocol is it avoids collisions, since nodes are only allowed to transmit when they are given access to the channel. Disadvantage to polling, are delays, as transmitters have to wait for the poll and the centralization with the requirement for a master to conduct the polling, if it fails the entire channel becomes inoperative. Token passing protocol there is no master node, instead special purpose frame known as a token is exchanged among the nodes in some order. When a node receives a token, it holds onto the token only if it has some frames to transmit; otherwise, it immediately forwards the token to the next node. If a node does have frames to transmit when it receives the token, it sends up to a maximum number of frames and then forwards the token to the next node.
