2. Poster: Image.
We will be using a long shot for our main
image. This is certain for our poster as we
are going to be looking at Friday The 13th
as inspiration for our poster image ideas.
A low angle shot will also be used for our
poster as we want our antagonist to
appear looking powerful and threatening to
the audience.
We are unsure about where we will place our
antagonist at the setting of the forest yet.
We will either have him standing on one of
the ledges of the lake looking out at the
water, or facing the camera head on with
the lake behind him.
For lighting, we will be using ambient lighting
from the moon, we do not want it to
appear too dark however as it would be
difficult to see the antagonist due to his
entire costume being black, including the
mask.
Our costume and mask will be all black, as
we want our audience to have an
understanding of the killer.
The axe will feature strongly in our poster
main image as we want our target
audience to have understanding of what
he will be using to attack his victims.
3. Poster: Text.
Our text for the poster will be minimal, as our
aim for the poster is to draw in the
audience purely by its image.
The text will be red and in large font to
display our title ‘DeadWood Grove’. This is
to follow conventions of the film title to be
the largest and boldest font.
The institutional information will be placed at
the bottom of the frame as it is
conventional and the least important piece
of information. Furthermore, it is a large
piece of text which will make the poster
appear untidy and unprofessional if placed
elsewhere.
This is one of the posters we
looked at for inspiration. The
low angle shot makes Jason
appear aggressive and scary.
This is further emphasised by
the weapon included in the
shot, making him appear
threatening. The text is bright
red and placed at the bottom,
we like this idea as our eyes
are drawn to Jason and then
the films title, something we
would like to mirror for our
slasher poster.
4. Teaser Poster.
We decided we want to construct a teaser
poster as it is a great way to leave our
audience wanting more. As a group we
also like using photoshop, therefore by
creating a teaser poster it allows us to
experiment more with the software and
widening our knowledge of the different
tools.
Our tagline will feature on the teaser poster
also.
Similarly to these two posters, we will be
using a close up. This is so the audience
have an insight to the mask and to see our
killer up close.
5. Trailer:
For our trailer, we will include all of the
teenagers. This is so the audience have
an understanding of our characters.
The killer will feature only in a few clips of the
trailer, this is because we do not want to
give too much away in the trailer, we want
to keep our killer mysterious.
In terms of camera, we will open our trailer
with an establishing shot using a pan
movement. This will then cut to the
camera following a car entering the forest.
This is commonly used in slasher to build
up the tension of the lead up to the setting.
Our inspiration from this coming mainly
It will be set in the forest, with a large lake
inside. The lake adds to detail and makes
the setting appear more isolated and
scary.
6. Magazine:
Our front cover will include a medium close
up shot of our killer.
He will feature wearing his signature mask
and all black costume.
The masthead will be bold and in red font,
this is so it grabs the attention of our
audience and make them want to buy the
magazine.
The sell lines will feature in the left hand third
of the front cover, this is where the
audiences eyes will be drawn to first
therefore it is important to place the sell
lines here.
