3. » Film-Title: Ward
» Running Time: 5-7 Minutes
» Genre: Horror/ Documentary
SYNOPSIS: In my film, the audience follow the afternoon of a
group of aspiring teenage videographers/explorers
(youtubers) on their exploration in an abandoned facility (Eye
Infirmary) in an attempt on creating a video documentary,
exploring the many wards and floors to this now abandoned
hospital. During the course of the narrative, we follow the
journey through the different wards and quadrants of the
building as our protagonist face a number of weird and
unusual going-ons, whilst on their journey. But are their lives
worth it?
The characters main objectives when entering this
building in the beginning Is solely for a YouTube
video purpose. In hopes of going viral/making
money, as exploration and horror videos seem to
be the trend as of late.
4. The target audience intended for this short film,
is generally for a young/middle age teenage
demographic, more so because this film was
made initially to be appropriate for TV during a
certain time, as well as appropriate for
daytime/evening TV, so the target audience is
restricted to a specific audience slightly and not
for those who may prefer the more
mature/graphic content, containing things such
as; gore, blood and heavy violence.
As well as this demographic, as there is an
actual demographic for people that watch videos
on sites such as Youtube on people who explore
through abandoned buildings etc. such as TGF,
my movie would meet that demographic also as
elements of those real life people and the things
they do online can be found within my movie and
its characters.
Target Audience
» Purpose
The reason this film is being made, is solely for
entertainment purposes and to cater to those of the
documentary/horror genre. As well as to meet the
standards of being a short film production. Creating
this film will also help add to my own personal portfolio
of media products I have been apart of, to further my
experience in media production. (With the added
element of realism and Youtube documentary, you kind
of get a TGF feel to the movie”) I think that this style of
film is good to meet the criteria of a young audience, as
it proves to work in real life on the Youtube platform,
then with appropriate jump scares and use of tension
building, it would be somewhat more suitable to be
classed as a form of horror I aim to create something
that is on a somewhat competing level of Get Out/Split
as they are my inspirations, as well as hold elements of
known youtubers.
9. » JensonCharacter Breakdowns
» Alex
» Kieran
In my film, the names of the three original characters to be seen on screen are;
For a good visual representation, I have used these
three images to create a better understanding of
what I imagine my characters to look like, in my
head as well as visually. Each character has a
urban teenage look to them, with bandanas around
their mouths which gives them a type of edgy look
to each character, and perhaps makes them look
more like the type of kids to be walking into danger
as appose to away form it.(I.E in abandoned
buildings)
As the channel which these young kids run is very
personal in regards to topics, and the way they
present themselves, the way they dress is very
representing of that. They all have very everyday
casual looks to them. (They wouldn’t be in front of
a camera if they never felt comfortable)
11. Lighting Style
For my production making the two minute scene, I
will be using a light which is attached to the top of
the 700D, so the light will never really be in one
place. That said it wouldn’t really look appropriate on
a lighting plan diagram. However if I was to be
filming more than 2 minutes, scenes which require
the actors to remain in one spot, and include
dialogue, I would probably use an LED in order to
light the room/subjects, which would be a lot easier
to show on a diagram.
I believe that not going too over the top with lights is also
crucial to the way in which the story is told as I am shooting
this through the eyes of teenage Youtubers, who are A) kids
B) probably not going to be walking around with big
production lights. For the types of characters in this film, in
order to meet the criteria of the characters and setting, they
may just have flashlights, phone lights or single lights
mounted on top of their camera.
13. Equipment Budget/Job Roles Budget
» This is a screenshot of the equipment that would be
needed in the production of my film. Alongside that
are the prices that the equipment would and in the
columns along side the jobs, are the prices that would
be used for a specific amount of hours hiring that
equipment.
This is a screenshot of the Job roles that I
found would be necessary in the production of
my film, and in the columns along side the
jobs, are the prices that would be used for a
specific amount of hours hiring that person for
the specific job…followed by the Total.
