1) The pressure increases with depth in liquids according to the formula: Pressure = density x gravity x depth. Deeper underwater, the pressure from water is greater.
2) SCUBA divers experience increasing pressure as they descend deeper in water. They must equalize the pressure in their air spaces to avoid injuries. Dam walls are built thicker at lower depths where the water pressure is highest.
3) Pascal's principle demonstrates that pressure depends only on depth and is transmitted equally in all directions in a fluid. It does not depend on the shape of the containing vessel.
