Jews And Booze By Marni Davis
In Marni Davis s book Jews and Booze, she offers readers a well researched study addressing Jewish
immigrant acculturation. Data on Jews, booze, and prohibition is familiar to scholars who study the
histories of New York City, Chicago, and New Jersey. Much to her credit, Davis also gathers
information from southern locales such as Atlanta and California. In Robert Rockaway s book But He
Was Good to His Mother, he examined Jewish gangsters in the early twentieth century and came to the
conclusion that the reason a large number of them worked in the illegal alcohol business was because
of the profit caused by prohibition and the intense thirst society developed for alcohol that came with
it. When he studied further he realized that these gangsters running illegal operations often were more
caring and human than people believed. Incorporated into this review are studies of the real life
activity of these gangsters through information that Rockaway was able to recover. As Jewish
immigrants found their place in nineteenth and twentieth century America, alcohol was never far from
their lips. True, Jews were known for their abstemious drinking habits, but the production and sale of
alcoholic beverages offered economic opportunity in the United States as it had in Europe, where
some Jews were vintners, brewers, liquor distributors, and tavern owners (Davis). However, if alcohol
selling brought prosperity, it also brought the Jews into the world of mobs and gangsters.

Holistic Rubrics
A tool to evaluate a third year nursing student for the management of a postoperative patient using the
nursing process
Educators are faced with many challenges in accurately assessing and evaluating students, and
although these two codes are closely related, their effective completion requires different actions.
Assessment is a systematic process of collecting and interpreting information about students
achievements, while evaluation refers to a value judgement that attaches meaning to the data obtained
through assessment (Mc Donald, 2007). Educators are called upon to assess and evaluate students who
they instruct based on the students learning outcomes and course objectives.
Rubrics can be used as an objective tool to evaluate students performance in a particular area, since it

This point is often expressed in terms of students understanding the learning target and criteria for
success. For this reason, rubrics underpin the coordination of instruction and assessment, and they
help students learn (Books, 2013).
There are two types of rubrics available for use in examinations, a holistic rubric and an analytic
rubric. Holistic rubrics can be defined as single criteria rubrics (one dimensional) used to assess
participants overall achievement on an activity or item based on predefined achievement levels.
Holistic rubrics may use a percentage or text only scoring method and to assess student s work as a
whole. (Brightspace, 2016)
Analytic rubric focuses on individual elements of the ideal response and scores each element
separately (McDonald, 2007). Analytic rubrics identify and assess components of a finished product.
This rubric breaks down the characteristics of an assignment into parts, allowing the scorer to itemize
and define exactly what aspects are strong, and which ones need

Ever wonder about how stress affects our bodies and our health? This word stress is thrown around by
the media so much it s losing its meaning but have you ever wondered how they define stress? The
Merriam Webster dictionary defines stress as a physical, chemical, or emotional factor that causes
bodily or mental tension and may be a factor in disease causation. Our text book defines stress as the
term used to describe the physical, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral responses to events that are
appraised as threatening or challenging. Stress causing events are called stressors, they can come from

Believe it or not there are such things as good and bad stress. Too much of either can lead to disorders
that can control our lives and can help spiral our lives out of control. These disorders can possibly, in a
sense, make us do things that we normally wouldn t do. It s almost like an altered uncontrollable state
of both mind and body. One of those stress disorders is called acute stress disorder. Acute Stress
Disorder, or ASD, is characterized by the development of severe anxiety, dissociative, and other
symptoms that occurs within one month after exposure to an extreme traumatic stressor. This disorder
was unfortunately the most common suffered by many people after the traumatic events of 9/11.
Another stress disorder that is commonly found among returning soldiers from war is called post
traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD. Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a disorder that can
develop following a traumatic event that threatens your safety or makes you feel helpless. Traumatic
events that can lead to PTSD include rape, a natural disaster, kidnapping, assaults, car or plane crash,
medical procedures especially in young children, and war. According to The National Institute of
Mental Health, women seem to be more susceptible to PTSD and have almost twice the risk of
developing PTSD. It s easy to talk about the major life changes and major stressors but the most of our
daily stress come from the smallest things. From minor

Executive Summary:
As a Fortune 1000 enterprise, and an industry leader in the field of plastic injection molding, Riordan
Manufacturing, offers state of the art plastics design capabilities through its facilities in San Jose,
California; Albany, Georgia; Pontiac, Michigan; and Hang Zhou, China. Currently, Riordan s COO,
Hugh McCauley, and the executive team have requested changes to the current information system
used to maintain inventory and manufacturing processes. Evaluation of current Sales, Inventory, and

The current process takes too many hours to complete the required tasks, so the new updated system
must be fast and efficient. All of Riordan Enterprise s locations will move to the new accounting and
inventory system; therefore, it must also comply with the existing technology. Companies are
recognizing that not only is the aftermarket profitable, but it also can drive significant competitive
advantage as a customer service differentiator (Kevin O Brian 2005)
An initial evaluation of accounting and inventory systems for all the Riordan Enterprise locations is
required. We need to know what software is currently in use and how effective it is. If our evaluation
determines that, the existing software is not performing all of the needed requirements it will be
necessary to upgrade them as well. Next, we will need to evaluate their existing hardware to determine
its integrity. If the hardware is also outdated, another evaluation will be necessary to determine what
will replace it. If the evaluation of the hardware determines that the existing equipment is adequate,
then we can proceed with the software upgrade. The request specifically asks for a complete system
that is faster and interrelated into all of the locations. After the evaluations are complete a list of
additional hardware will be generated and a timeline of what to be installed / upgraded where.
The timeline will be a critical part

How Architecture Is The Most Effect Of People Thinking...
1. Introduction
Architecture is a mutual creation of works and the ideas are not only for personal, but it is also
represented the spirit and national character in this age. Therefore , it is the most basic demand of
human and society that provide important security and improve the style of human life.
It is not a pure Art nor pure engineering, the building is satisfied of function demand, via structure and
construction way as well as reached the form of an artificial shape. But,how do we understand
Architecture? What is the most effect of people thinking about it?
Exactly as Tadao Ando says that understanding the architecture, which is not through the media, the
architectural space is felt through by people sensorial experience though that it is more important than
anything else.In one building, it roots in the terroir and the culture of life, strongly remind in people s
minds by employing with five senses what we see, hear, touch, smell and taste. It includes the
geographical and cultural historical context from the macro elements of spirit to the personal life
experience, even the impression of unobtrusive plants and trees as well as minor elements of memory
are given.
For this reason, the essay concludes the main focus part of the poetics of space to demonstrate the
phenomenology of architecture which is related to space, material, light and shadow that sway on the
human senses by case study of Tadao Ando work, Church on Water.

The Impact of Stalin on Russia and the Russian People Essay
The Impact of Stalin on Russia and the Russian People
Joseph Stalin was born to a poor family in the province of Georgia in 1879. Stalin s real surname was
Djugasvili; he adopted the name Stalin whilst in prison as he felt the translation Man of Steel would
help his image. Stalin joined the Bolshevik party as a young man and soon became an active member
organizing bank raids to gain money for party funds; this led to Stalin s imprisonment a number of
times. Stalin first met Lenin in December 1905 in Finland and was quite surprised to see him as an
ordinary man unlike the person he had imagined. In 1918 Stalin was made Commissar for
Nationalities of the Bolshevik party, then in 1922 he became ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Stalin was extremely ambitious and his initial taste of power had made him even more egotistical.
Trotsky fled but was hunted down and eliminated to ensure Stalin retained power. The long term
effects of this ensured that future opponents of Stalin would also be eliminated.
With Lenin dead and Trotsky eliminated Stalin realized he was now able to concentrate on his own
policies. He abandoned Lenin s idea of World Revolution and adopted his own policy of Socialism in
One Country . He began with state control of Industry and Agriculture. This led to Stalin adopting his
Five Year Plans for Industry and Collectivisation of Agriculture . An organisation called GOSPLAN
was created to plan everything out. The first five year plan was created to improve heavy industries
production such as coal, oil, iron, steel and electricity. The second continued to emphasise on heavy
industry but also made a commitment to communication systems such as railways. The third put an
emphasis on weapon production, as war did seem to be approaching. The long term effects of this
were that Russia was able to withstand German invasion in World War Two and drive back the
German forces. Stalin s adoption of the Five Year Plans proved to be very successful. There were vast
improvements in Education and Health and Russia was made into a major industrial

Donald Trump Stereotypes Analysis
With the upcoming election, Donald Trump s campaigns have caught the attention of the American
society. He has turned the 2016 presidential campaign into a unpredictable show, just the fact that he is
running for president with no political background is a joke itself. This sparked an interest in me and I
couldn t help but use this as a topic for my paper. In his bold and audacious speeches, Trump is known
to use stereotypes to draw in votes. Whether it is against women, Muslims, or Mexicans Trump has
said it all. So my journey begins first in asking, what is a stereotype? And how does a stereotype affect
a group of individuals? Thus leading to the question which drives my paper, how does Trump s use of
stereotypes affect a voter s opinion? As a voter myself I m curious to see if ... Show more content on

the article it included quotes of him talking about how stingy Jewish people are and how he does not

How Does Lenore Characterize In The Raven
Zack Griffin
Mrs. Ruiz
English 2
27 February 2018
Guilt is Evermore I think that Nicholas Rowe said it best when he said Guilt is the source of sorrows
the avenging fiend that follows us behind with whips and stings. In Edgar Allen Poe s narrative poem
The Raven The narrator is in a state of deep depression, guilt that he let his rare and radiant maiden
whom the angels name Lenore (The Raven) get away from him, the guilt has been eating away at him
to the point where he is driven mad. I believe in this poem there was no raven, just a guilty mad man
who s imagination overcame him, the guilt and regret of never being able to see his perfect maiden
again pushes him closer and closer towards insanity until he snaps.
I believe that there was no raven in this story at all, just a man cursing life itself for his hardships. In
the poem the narrator says to the raven, Get thee back into the tempest and the Night s Plutonian
shore! (The Raven) saying that the raven is a demon that has come straight from hell, he is saying this
because the raven said that he will see lenore, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He says that the raven has eyes of a demon and it s shadow hangs over the narrators soul. The Ravens
darkness symbolizes the constant reminder of death and horror, this is what is eating away at the
narrator. Another big use of dark imagery is the nights plutonium shore the Roman good Pluto is the
god of death, and his shore would be a part of the underworld. The time of the play is at midnight in
December, midnight is traditionally the darkest most eerie time of day, and nothing lives in the winter,
everything is gloomy and lacking life and color. The one thing that Poe describes as radiant and good
is taken from the poem to create a mood of sadness and desperation. The raven starts as a reminder of
a past lover and changes into an embodiment of

Success Of A Business And Entrepreneurs
The ability to generate profits indicates the current level of success of a business and entrepreneurs try
hard to maintain the profitability of their company to create a better appeal for investors. The first
thing to consider are ratios, specifically profit margin ratios: gross profit margin, operating profit
margin, pretax profit margin and net profit margin.[1] All numbers are found in the consolidated
statement of operations of Whole Foods 2015 10K and in million dollars unless otherwise specified.

A closer look at the return on assets ratio tells us that the company is not using its assets efficiently to
generate its profit, as the figure of 2015 is lower than that of the previous two years. Return on
investment ratio measures the ability to generate profit from owner s investment. From the chart above
we can see that while the figure in 2015 is greater than that of 2013, it is still less than that of 2014.
Thus, the company is showing a deteriorating performance and profitability based on comparison with
figures of the previous years. 2. Risk In order to determine the risk associated with investing in a
company, it is crucial to look at the company s financing of operations. In particular, the investor
should focus on finance through liabilities versus finance through equity. While reliance on debt does
not necessarily equate to less profitability, the impact of debt management and interest expense on
said debts is important for the company s future performance. We can use financial ratios to evaluate
its risk profile:
Liabilities to assets ratio, or debt to capital ratio, gives a comparison on the company s total liabilities
to totals assets. This

Essay about Perceptions of Persistence of Memory
Perceptions of Persistence of Memory
Although visual art is looked upon differently by all, everyone has a either a favorite piece or at least
something that catches their eye. Personally, I don t have a piece of art that I would label my absolute
favorite, but during a Spanish research project found that Salvador Dali s work really stood out. The
Persistence of Memory painted in 1931 by Dali, a highly renowned surrealist painter, is among the
most interesting works I have ever seen. Even though the painting itself is rather simple in quality at
first glance, what Dali s must have been thinking about while creating this work is strikingly complex.
The painting is attractive to me because it deals with the concept of time, something ... Show more

It is reasonable, I think, to assume that most people could have created a landscape painting with
mountains being reflected into a sea, and that may have been Dali s goal when he started to paint The
Persistence of Memory. However, there remains no doubt that Dali s subconscious was at work here
because no one else could ever imagine the exact image depicting melting time as seen here. The
conscious part of the brain is the area that is alive and comprehends what is happening to one and the
world around one. The landscape, Catalonia, Spain (Dali s hometown), was the result of Dali s
conscious mind because he was living it and taking it in with his own two eyes. Everything stemmed
from thoughts of daydreams, bad memories, and other possible goods or evils that dwell in the
subconscious mind. Wikipedia explains that Sigmund Freud believed that the unconscious mind was a
depository of wishes, desires, socially unacceptable ideas, traumatic memories, and/or painful
emotions.
Dali s painting appears to be representative of mainly the subconscious mind because many of the
elements in the painting express objects or ideas that are highly characteristic of memories, dreams, or
even socially unacceptable elements. More importantly, The Museum of Modern Art explains that a
year before this painting was made Dali began to undergo his paranoiac critical method which

The Grimm Brothers Fairy Tales
Everything from music, to movies, and fairytales has been influenced by society. More specifically,
society has influenced the Grimm Brothers fairy tales. The Grimm Brothers fairy tales would be
considered dark and gruesome by today s standards. Parents would not allow their own children near
the stories, which caused society to give the tales a more PG feeling. The tales changed and became
what we know them as today. Disney has played a major role in creating the innocent versions that
today s early generations have experienced. While they rarely admit it, societies, such as Disney,
caused the original works of the Grimm Brothers to be overshadowed by their infantile adaptations.
Most of you have probably heard of the Grimm brothers, and if you haven t heard of them, you have
most likely seen their work. Disney movies like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Cinderella are
child friendly versions of the Grimm brothers original fairy tales. Ironically, the brothers had no
intention on becoming story tellers, when first starting their journey. The book The Annotated
Brothers Grimm stated, that when trying to study other languages they found it easiest and best to
share stories that had been passed down generation to generation. The brothers kept all the stories they
had heard and published a book in 1812 called Kinder und Hausmarchen, which translates to Tales of
Children and thee Home . Believe it or not, fairy tales were not always about finding true love, and

Leopold In Cold Blood Analysis
Starting from the European colonization period, Congo has constantly been plagued with foreign
interference, namely by external countries and multinational corporations looking to gain wealth. They
have demolished the magnificent African cake systematically throughout the years, starting primarily
from Leopold s Congo Free state, which he ruled single handedly, to the modern day Democratic
Republic of Congo. Leopold began his regime by holding conferences regarding Africa, and formed
organizations that he claimed would aid Africa. Not only did Leopold abuse the abundance of natural
resources out of greed, he also destroyed the economy, political system, and the people for generations
to come. Leopold s framework of a Congo whose resources ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Leopold began by extracting ivory, and later began extracting the highly valued rubber. He then began
looking into the mines of the Congo, which held an abundance of highly valued minerals to gain more
wealth. To make the transportation of the extractive resources more efficient, Leopold had a railway
built, using additional forced labor on the part of the Congolese. Along with the repressive Force
Publique, Leopold also sent a group Christian missionaries to ensure that the Congolese were meeting
Europe s expectations of him introducing the Congolese to Christianity. Meanwhile, all of Europe and
America was fully convinced that he was truly helping the Congo developmentally. It wasn t until an
open letter sent by an American named George Washington Williams were his true, or lack of, actions
revealed though the letter did not directly end Leopold s reign over the Congo Free State. His actions
were so severe that American author Mark Twain would write a satirical pamphlet condemning
Leopold s actions, portraying him as a delusional man trying to convince others that he did improve
the Congo s way of life. After two decades of exploitation, which the modern day Democratic
Republic of Congo is still struggling to recover from, Leopold went from a limited monarch, to the

Allegory In A Rose For Emily
Some people love change, but others absolutely dislike it. When something big changes in one s life,
will it change who they are, or will they fight back? This short story shows how when a person grows
up relying only on one person when they leave, it will change everything about that person. In the
southern gothic story A rose for Emily by William Faulkner uses characterization, allegory, and
allusion display the idea that the toll that death can take on one s life could be drastic.
Characterization showed the true personality of Miss Emily and how her father s death shaped her.
The many issues in this short story all started at how Miss Emily was raised. She was raised to only
rely on her father, who was very protective over her. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

We can see that this story makes a lot of indirect references in the text. I want some poison, the best
that you have. I didn t care what kind. (pg. 3) Allusion is shown because it made it seem like she was
going to commit suicide. This is evidence that she most likely killed Homer Barron because he was
poorer while her dad wasn t, so she knew that he would never approve, which could ve cause her to
kill him. This created an allusion in her mind that it was acceptable for her to poison someone because
of what her dead father would think.
Characterization, allegory, and allusion all play a large role as to why Miss Emily has attachment
issues and is unable to move on from the past and look forward to the future. Though there was no
visible or literal rose, it did symbolize Miss Emily and how she started out mentally healthy and then
as all the major events took place, it shows how roses fade, along with her mental health. This story is

Mobile Technology Is A Major Leader Essay
Mobile technology is a major leader in information technology and provides opportunities for
innovation, agility and flexibility in the workplace ( GOVERNMENT USE OF MOBILE
TECHNOLOGY , 2012). This fast growing field provides new innovation, agility, flexibility in the
workplace while driving the future of our end user computing platform ( GOVERNMENT USE OF
MOBILE TECHNOLOGY , 2012). The Obama administration recently ordered all federal agencies to
begin making at least two apps as part of its digital government plan (Breeden II, 2012). With this
mandate some agencies are already ahead of the power curve having apps hit the market already while
still developing new apps, but one of the things that government agencies will have to adjust is the
level of their apps as they are considered primitive compared to the private sector apps. Also to note is
that government apps are linked to stored information which makes most of them simple databases.
The NASA app was one of the first agencies to have an app go public and has been available since
2010. This app shows pictures of the universe and it shows it in high definition. The Ask Karen app

Parallels Between Mrs Dalloway and The Hours
The ongoing relationship between the literary movements of modernism and post modernism is
encompassed by the intertextual relationships between Stephen Daldry s The Hours and Virginia
Woolf s Mrs Dalloway . These relationships communicate the inadequacy of previous writings to
convey trauma, cultural crisis and the deep fragmentation within their respective societies. The
immediate context of these social dialogues creates a clear division between each text, however the
intertextual similarities between minor and major characters create an effective parallel to traverse
decades, years, months and days. This is in order to assess the lasting impacts of society on an
individual s desire to escape either physically or metaphorically. ... Show more content on

The coffee was very slow ... until Mr Whitbread had finished ... Hugh was so very slow the agonising
sense of immediacy both draws our attention back to clock time whilst allowing us to delve into
Clarissa s past as she recalls that Hugh is always so absurdly slow. As reality is blurred in
psychological time, external time punctuates the novel There! Out it boomed. First a warning,
musical, then the hour, irrevocable this reminds the reader that this story is in fact occurring in a single
day and every event experienced outside of this timeframe is a figment of a characters memory. Woolf
makes these memories the focus of the novel rather than external time to create a mobile reality where
she fabricates the sense of movement by traversing time through the consciousness of her characters.
These memories therefore are from a specific point of view and therefore exclude some properties of
the remembered moment and parts of said reality may simply be dissolved in the air as the memory
fades with ongoing time.
Daldry approaches Woolf s tunnelling technique with sensitivity and subtlety in order to unify
Virginia, Laura and Clarissa. The repetitive musical score by Philip Glass creates a sense of the
cyclical nature of time and is evocative of the relentlessness of time. This too creates an illusion of
both time and timelessness as the regular rhythm simulates that of a clock as

The Importance Of Rescission And Restitution Of The Law Of...
REMEDIES
Rescission
A contract with missing required elements can be officiated void by the courts. Rescission officially
voids a contract.
In contract law, rescission has been defined as the unmaking of a contract between parties. Rescission
is the unwinding of a transaction. This is done to bring the parties, as far as possible, back to the
position in which they were before they entered into a contract. [6]
The contract between Debbie and Alan is VOID (SUPRA).
As such, the court will most likely rescind the contract and officially make it void.
Restitution
Restitution damages are money damages that are awarded to an innocent party to compensate for the
benefit that party gave. Restitution will always involve a loss to the innocent party that benefits the
other party.
Rescission and Restitution: the remedy of canceling a contract and making restitution to the parties.
The law of restitution is the law of gains based recovery. It is to be contrasted with the law of
compensation, which is the law of loss based recovery. When a court orders restitution it orders the
defendant to give up his/her gains to the claimant. When a court orders compensation it orders the
defendant to pay the claimant for his or her loss. Simply, the plaintiff will get the value of whatever
was conferred to the defendant when there was a contract. [7]

consideration in return, it is

The Arab Spring in Egypt
Another prominent cause of the Arab Spring in Egypt was the corruption in the government run by
Mubarak. One of the best examples of Mubarak s corruption was the use of emergency law. For his
entire almost 30 year reign, Mubarak ruled through emergency law. Under emergency law, Mubarak
could censor all publications, search and tap phone, mail, and Internet use, and arrest people without a
trial, or through secret trials. (Tristam, 2013) All political meetings also had to be preapproved by him
before they took place. Demonstrations in the streets were also illegal. Many members of the Muslim
Brotherhood, Mubarak s main opposition, were arrested for no apparent reason. Human rights

gas, and water cannons. Mohamed ElBaradei, one of the prominent figures battling Mubarak s reign
was reportedly placed under house arrest after he and his supporters were attacked with tear gas and
water cannons. However, he soon reappeared, denying he had been placed under house arrest.
(Mohamed, 2013) Violent clashes continued to occur between the protesters and the police. The police
fired rubber bullets as well as concussion grenades at the people. Several policemen beat a few
demonstrators while other protesters set fire to a police car. One of the protesters, Ramy Rafat, said,
There are a lot of things wrong with this country. The president has been here for 30 years. Why?

effect of the Arab Spring in Egypt was the resignation and trial of Hosni Mubarak on February 11,

The Digital World Is Affecting Today s Youth

Biography of Fidel Castro
Fidel Castro was born on August 13, 1926 in the BĂran, Cuba. (See Figure 5) Fidel grew up in
wealthier circumstances than most Cubans at the time, amid the massive and growing poverty. His
father, Ángel Castro y Argiz, was originally an immigrant from Spain. During Fidel s childhood,
Ángel was a fairly prosperous sugarcane farmer on a farm that had been dominated by United States
owned United Fruit Company. His mother, Lina Ruz Gonzalez, was a maid to Angel s first wife,
during Fidel s infancy. By the time Fidel was fifteen, his father disbanded his first marriage and wed
Lina, who is seen by Fidel to be his true mother. Fidel was educated in private Jesuit boarding schools.
By 1945, he entered the law school at the University of Havana. ... Show more content on

Castro continued to use guerrilla attacks and gained large numbers of radical followers. Using these
guerrilla warfare tactics, Castro became known as the Guerilla Prince and with his supporters, he
attacked Batista s forces, conquering and overtaking numerous towns and cities. Batista quickly lost
much of his popular support and suffered many embarrassing defeats. Finally, on January 1, 1959,
Batista fled Cuba and went into exile, leaving the Cuban government in need of a president and
somebody to get rid of the corruption that had previously plagued the country.
Manuel Urrutia, a very liberal Cuban lawyer and politician, was placed as president of Cuba, and
Castro was placed in charge of the military. However, by July of 1959, Castro had easily and
effectively taken over as leader of Cuba, which he would remain as, for the next four decades. (See
figure 2) With close ties to his brother, Fidel put RaĂșl in charge of the military, allowing the Castro
family to have most of the control over Cuba. In Castro s beginning years as Cuba s ruler, he made
several radical and significant changes in Cuba, including collectivizing agriculture, nationalizing
industry, and seizing and eliminating most American owned businesses, factories, and farms. Fidel
taxed American products so heavily that U.S. exports halved in just two years, making the United

The Arch Of Titus And The Arc De Trionmphe
In many places throughout the world many buildings, monuments and sculptures have been made.
Some were made centuries ago, and some were made recently. Many works of arts are significant or a
great part of history. Some of the many buildings that have been made throughout time could have
also been dedicated to someone or something. For example, the Arch of Titus was dedicated to Titus.
Another example would be the Arc de Triomphe which was dedicated to soldiers. Many buildings can
have a very significant meaning behind them, in the following essay I will be speaking about the
importance of both of these works of art, which are the Arch of Titus and the Arc de Triomphe. The

Me And Earl And The Dying Girl Analysis
Review of Me and Earl and the Dying Girl
Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (hereafter Me and Earl) was the big hit coming out of this year s
Sundance Film Festival, winning both the Audience Award and the Grand Jury Prize. Thus, Me and
Earl duplicated the feat that Whiplash managed last year. Since I liked Whiplash, I wanted to see Me
and Earl. Since Me and Earl features characters with which I should easily identify, I wanted to see it
even more. It did not disappoint my high expectations.
Me and Earl and the Dying Girl tells the story of Greg (Thomas Mann), a loner in high school, and his
doomed friendship with Rachel (Olivia Cooke). The awkward Greg only wants to survive high school,
and to accomplish this goal he ingratiates himself with every student in the school. He has no friends,
only acquaintances, but he makes no enemies, either. Greg does, however, hang out with his co worker
Earl (RJ Cyler), who he has known since kindergarten and makes parodies of classic films with. When
one of Greg s classmates, Rachel, is diagnosed with leukemia, Greg s mother (Connie Britton) forces

At times, Me and Earl is downright hilarious. Nearly every time Earl talks, I laughed or smiled. The
silly parodies Greg and Earl make of classic movies are funny on multiple levels, whether title or their
rendition of famous scenes. (Examples include Brew Velvet, 2:48 PM Cowboy, A box of lips wow,
and A Sockwork Orange, all of which include amusing scenes. It should also be noted that another
highlight of this movie is its infectious love of other movies). The funniest bit, however, comes from a
touch by the director Alfonso Gomez Rejon. Greg describes hot girls as moose that accidently trample
on lame guys (chipmunks). Whenever the film s resident attractive girl approaches Greg, Gomez
Rejon shows a Claymation moose stomping on a chipmunk. I laughed every time this

Assignment 1
Q1: What is Edelstein s research question
A: What is the reason of success and failures of military occupations
Q2: What is the thing that is being explained in Edelstein s analysis?
A: He basically explained why some occupations last long enough to succeed while others failed in
the end. And in his analysis, he also made several points to support his opinion, which are as follows:
(1) In his analysis he explained how to code a military occupation as a success or a failure It s
basically measured by looking at the long term balance of interests gained by the occupying power
and the cost they paid out.
(2) The author s analysis explained what an occupying power should seek for to maintain ... Show

So in order to succeed, occupiers must both maintain their interests and convince the occupied
population to accept their long term occupations. And in order to make this possible, potential
occupying power should know three points. First of all, the need for occupation, commonly perceived
external threats, and credible guarantees are both the causes and the effects of occupation success;
Second, clear goals should be established and occupiers should be trained to be ready for occupations;
Third, great powers should anticipate the possibility of occupation and take their responsibility to act
before engaging into war.
Q4: How does Edelstein narrow down his research question to specific empirical questions?
A: In this article Edelstein first focused on the basics of occupations, dividing them into different
kinds, and gave metrics for success and failure of military occupations. After that he explained the
reason of success in military occupations and showed the dilemma that failing occupying power
would face, and then gave a conclusion to his theory, after all that, he narrow down his research by
using his conclusions and theory to discuss the implications of the argument for the current occupation
of Iraq and future potential

A Literary Creation of Man 3
A Literary Creation of Man
As legend suggests, the Greek God Prometheus gave a man the ability to create a fire so that they
could thrive and in doing so, he angered Zeus. Zeus punishes Prometheus endlessly and creates
Pandora to unleash upon the perfect world all the griefs and hardships that are known to man today.
This full portrayal is in the short story Prometheus and the First people by Olivia E. Coolidge. This
essay will examine how the author utilizes literary elements in composing this mythical story about
the resiliency of man.
Initially, the author describes the earth s setting as a luscious, green, grassy clearing that Epithemeus
was sitting in when he gives the animals unique gifts. Her ideal setting for the animals is described in
the following passage, To each, I gave some special excellence, that whether large or small, kind or
terrible, each might live his own place, find food, escape enemies, and enjoy the wide world which is
his to inhabit. (Ashworth, 2016). The setting is dramatically changed to depict a darker place by the
mighty floods that are produced by Zeus. The author conveys this in the words, Fields and farmhouses
were buried. Fish swam in the tops of trees. (Ashworth, 2016). ... Show more content on

This figurative language is explained more thoroughly by the author, From each of those Deucalion
cast sprang up a man, and from Pyrrha s stones sprang up women. (Ashworth, 2016). The symbolic
use of the stone is also used again at the end of the story when discussing how man has changed since
exposure to adversity. The author states, Only from that time men have been less sensitive and have
found it easier to endure toil, and sorrow, and pain, since now they are descended from stone.

Introduction What is Differentiated Instruction?
Students are different, just like people are different. There are many varied groups of students in one
classroom. Differentiated instruction is a process for teaching and learning for students of differing
abilities in the same class (Hall et al., 2011). The intent of differentiating instruction is to maximize
each student s growth, and individual success by meeting each student where he or she is, and
assisting in the learning process (Hall et al., 2011). Instruction is differentiated in classrooms through

pace. Curriculum was short units of written texts that students moved thru at their own pace, and then

in these PSI courses (Keller Plan) learn course content better, remember it longer, and like the

International Relations Is A State Centric Discipline Essay
International Relations is a state centric discipline that contends with global concerns and foreign
affairs amongst the states within the international arena. As the 21st century progressed rapidly, the
relationship among states has changed considerably whereby small states in all continents have
become a focal point in the international system. Since the days of the Cold War the impact between
the small states and the great powers have been a precarious one whereby the great powers kept
majority of the small states in the shadows; until now where they have begun to evolve and build their
influence in the global world. The voice of the small states became onerous to achieve when the
intergovernmental agreements and the economic paradigms were customarily based on the interest of
authoritative states. Today, several of the small state actors in the global arena are considered to the
most outstanding players in the world; nation states like Slovenia, Catalonia, Luxembourg and
Bahrain. The fundamental dynamics of the development of small states in the international system is
as a consequence of democracy growth provoked by the introduction of technological advancement
due to globalization, communications, infrastructure and trade along with the social transformations
shaped by enterprise operations globally. It is an expectation that small states can play a pivotal role in
the expansion of a new era through which the international system is revolutionizing to the assistance

How Does Swift Use Satire
Gulliver s Travels by Swift as a Fine Example of Satire
Gulliver s Travels is a book which uses satire, to attack the politics of its time. Swift operates on two
levels; on one level he tells an enjoyable fantasy story for all ages. On the second level behind the
superficial narrative he comments upon the issues he faces in the reality of England and makes
criticisms.
The story is set on an island called Lilliput, it is inhabited by little people and it is this which Swift
uses as a base for his views on the world around him. Lilliput is a mirror image of London in 1726,
and it acts as a blank canvas for Swifts thoughts on reality. It allows him to create anything, so he

The discrimination of women, this may seem harsh on the women s part but really instead of Swift
being spiteful and insulting the women he is putting across a subtle hint of superiority.
The story is a mirror image of the city of London in 1726. Lemuel Gulliver sets out on a voyage upon
a fine sailing vessel, the crew soon run into trouble and the ship becomes wrecked. Gulliver is
stranded and runs adrift upon a strange island, this island isn t like any other though, as Gulliver soon
discovers. Its inhabitants are all a twelfth of his size. The book describes Gulliver s amazing
adventures that lay before him. Throughout the story a great deal of ingratitude is shown in many
different forms. When Gulliver urinates on the palace to extinguish a fire, even though Gulliver may
see this as a good deed it is seen as a kind of insult by the Lilliputians. Gulliver is also shown
ingratitude by the Lilliputians, after defeating an opposing fleet single handily and saving the palace
from burning to the ground the inhabitants turn on Gulliver and decide to try and gauge his eyes out,
this I feel is Swift attacking the simple mindedness of the human race and how easily judged some
people are.

The Pros and Cons of an Unwritten Constitution in the UK...
The Advantages and Disadvantages of an Unwritten Constitution in the UK
The UK has an unwritten constitution unlike the U.S.A. Instead Britain s laws, policies and codes are
developed through statutes, common law, convention and more recently E.U law. It is misleading to
call the British constitution unwritten; a more precise form of classification would be un codified. This
means that the British constitution has no single document, which states principles and rules of a state.
However, The British constitution clearly sets out how political power is allocated and where it is
legally located. The British constitution is still visible and it defines composition and powers of the
main offices and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of this is the in corporation of E.U laws into UK laws. Since parliament passed the
European communities Act in 1972 Britain has accepted the superiority of European law. The House
of Lords has judged certain English laws to be unlawful in light of EU legislation.
Another advantage of an unwritten or un codified constitution is that it is evolutionary because it
develops with historical changes. An example of this is when parliament in the UK took total
sovereignty away from the monarchy in 1867. Changes to the British constitution reflect a changing
balance of power. The constitution is important even though it is not written form because it formed
the basis of the separation of power that we now have, for example between the Lords and the
Commons. This also shows the flexibility of the constitution.
An advantage of the UK constitution is that it takes into account of changing views. For example, in
1997 the changing of the hereditary peer system and also further reforms to change the structure of
parliament. It is good that the British constitution will always takes into account these changes.
However, there are disadvantages to an un written constitution. A written constitution is considered the
highest form of law and is respected because of this. There is no such principle in the British
constitution because sovereignty lies with Parliament.

Peloponnesian War Strategy
Evolution of Strategy Throughout the Peloponnesian War
In the years leading up to the Peloponnesian War, Athens and Sparta formed a successful alliance
defending Hellas from a Persian invasion. This alliance dissolved soon after leaving two independent
city states in its place. Athens possessed a robust naval force and Sparta possessed a formidable
military force. Each possessed unique systems of government and policies that defined markedly
different approaches for relationships with their respective allies. These policies shaped the strategies
that each city state developed and implemented during the 27 year Peloponnesian War. This paper

The rate of flowering can be estimated as a function of either quantitative or qualitative response.
Phalaenopsis generate two bud primordial at each node and it becomes dormant. Under favorable
conditions, the bud emerges into an inflorescence. The signal to trigger the inflorescence is
temperature. Many plant species on practicing diurnal fluctuation in temperatures elicited flowering
process. In this orchid, In the subtending leaf, a small vegetative bud and a large reproductive bud are
present. If favorable conditions return, the reproductive bud grows and will lead to flowering. After
the elongation of the reproductive stem, the development of floral buds starts. and only if favorable
environmental conditions prevail. Sufficient light is required for immediate towards low temperatures
to initiate spiking.
The materials and methods required for this study is plant material, plant culture, Temperature
treatments. Phalaenopsis clones are transplanted into pots that contain 75% Douglas fir bark, 10% of
sphagnum peat and 15% pertile and cultivated in grrenhouse. These plants should be grown at 260 C
whilst maintaining photoperiod and photosynthetic photon flux at maximum rate. These plants are
grown in water soluble fertilizer supplemented with reverse osmosis. The set points for temperatures
were maintained by a computer and it controls exhaust fans, roof vents, heating and evaporative

Just Grow A Pair Short Story
Just do it! Grow a pair! Why are you talking to yourself? Pay attention to him! My head is going 1,000
miles a minute, my palms are as sweaty as if they were attached to an overweight kid running the mile
during fat camp, and I m pretty sure I can feel the pools of sweat forming underneath my arms. Each
step I take feels like it s heavier. The hallway to the parking garage is becoming longer and longer as
we get (what is supposed to be) closer to the door. This cannot be that hard can it? I always see it in
those cheesy romantic movies all the damn time. Why the hell am I feeling all these emotions that I
never felt before? What the fuck happened to me? It all started at the beginning of the fall semester. I
came to the first day of Comic Book Writing fifteen minutes early, as usual, and picked out the seat I

We ended up texting more and more as each day passed. I found out that he is a vegetarian, only
watches drama and comedy movies, I also found out that he is a hopeless romantic, and he has had
some family problems. His parents got divorced when he was at a young age which put a huge strain
on his family. Once he started college and moved away from his family, his mom started being a total
bitch to him and nearly ostracized him from the other family members. She would purposely make
family dinners that somehow had some sort of meat product inside of it and would always get into
arguments with him (I actually witnessed one argument between the two over the phone). I eventually
ended up mirroring the way he dressed. Whenever he would wear oxford shoes, I would wear a pair
the next week, if not the next day. He liked mustard colored cardigans? I bought two different ones in
the attempt to get his attention. He was a Creative Writing major? I went and bought Slaughterhouse 5

International Trade And Policy ( Ec 925 ) For The Award Of...
Country Analysis: Belize
Tutor: Professor Ian Wooton
Student Registration Number:201461623
Being an assignment submitted to the Department of Economics, School of Business, University of
Strathclyde in partial fulfillment of the requirement of International Trade and Policy (EC 925) for the
award of M.Sc. in Applied Economics (2014/2015). November 2014.
1. Introduction
Belize is a private sector led small economy that is highly dependent on external trade and vulnerable
to internal and external shocks arising from its macroeconomic and trade policies . Belize trade profile
shows that about 61.6 percent of its exports are on agricultural products while imports and exports to
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) ratios are 72.4 and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this, a substantial volume of Belize s exports is traded under preferential agreements and its trade
policy is influenced by participation in the Caribbean Community and Community Market
(CARICOM) as well as other Preferential Trading Agreements (PTAs) and negotiating groups.
Whether or not its participation in these preferential trading groups is beneficial to its current and
potential engagements in the world trading system is germane to this study.
This analysis is therefore aimed/focused at providing an insight into the Belize current and potential
engagements in the world trading system. In order to achieve this, the analysis delves into the bases
for trade in Belize (section 2); the effects of her trade policies on potential trade and negotiating
position (section 3); the economic/political conditions affecting her trade (section 4) and concludes by
summarizing the key findings.
2. Bases for Trade
Belize engages in trade with the rest of the world because there exist frontiers constraints on
movement of factors, different endowments and/or payments, different tax policies and trade/transport
costs (Wooton, 2013). All these, inter alia, culminate in differences between Belize and its trading
partners, hence international trade. More specific, is the fact that Belize seeks to generate additional
market access to create the requisite demand pull for generating economies of scale, thereby relying

Reflection About Intercultural Communication
Thanks to the development of the Internet and transportation especially aviation industry, the world
has become smaller and smaller. Nowadays people have had more chances to communication and
meet each other from all over the world. As a result, Intercultural Communication has been one of the
most important subjects at school in general and at my school University of Languages and
International Studies in particular. Personally it has been my most favorite subject this semester
because of both the useful knowledge of intercultural communication that the course has brought to
me and my teacher s effective teaching methods of conveying it through her lectures. After completing
the course I feel more confidence when communicating with people from different cultures.
Particularly I can apply some helpful information from the course to explain cultural differences in my
relationship with an English man and find solutions to tackle the problems occurring as consequences
of those differences. In this essay, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Giving some reasons such as being busy or tired or having another date are the indirect ways that
many Vietnamese people often use to refuse an invitation. However, since English speakers prefer
direct, linear, explicit, rational, and rich in content messages (Renolds, 2011), he kept asking me And
after that , So...? to get the exact answer. Only when I said I m gonna go home to sleep could he guess
what my answer was but he still asked a question again as he did not sure. What can be drawn from
this situation is because English people tend to use direct language, he expected me to give a direct
answer Yes or No while most Vietnamese people avoid refusing by answering indirectly which led me
to expect he would easily understand my

The Case Against High School Sports Funding in America
After reading The Case Against High School Sports by Amanda Ripley started to make me think.
There were many strong points about how the priorities of the sports are beginning to be more
important to students than their education. Another great point was that the financing and budgeting is
unfairly distributed throughout school districts and is spent more on athletics and clubs and not
enough on classes. And I Believe that schools should put certain restrictions on the spending and
promoting or in school sports and clubs because of the major drop in national and world comparisons.
Teachers who dubble as a coach often split commitments between being a coaching and teaching such

students now rank 22nd instead of 19th. And most shocking, they fell from 10th to 20th in reading
(Parker,2). If you compare American schools to other renowned top schools world wide such as in
Europe and Asia you would see a remarkable difference with the amount of time and money spent on
sports. Ripley stated that one football player costs about $1,300 a player. Math, by contrast, cost just
$618 a student. And the school district could save $150,000 in one year with cutting school sports and
extracurriculars (Ripley,3). Our Johnston School District also has a large price as our state s Athletic
Director Gary Ross: When you get to the issue of budgets there is really two parts to them. The
general budget which is what the school district per say pays towards coaches salaries, transportation,
and event workers. Coaches salaries are normally $120,000, transportation would be $50,000, and
event workers can be around $5,000 $10,000. Then the other part of the budget is the sports income,
which is money from booster clubs, participation from other schools, and admissions, and it comes to
roughly $120,000. Which goes out to uniforms, the athletic trainer, equipment and our participation at
other school events. (Ross) It should be that if a school is struggling financially to provide for the
school district , it should have an immediate plan to cancel athletics to save or help the school make a
comeback because

Sacagawea Thesis
____________________________________________________________ Sacagawea By: Zanaiya
Thomas Ebony Delgado May 5, 2017
________________________________________________________ Our project is about
Sacagawea. Sacagawea was a famous guide and translator that helped Lewis and Clark on the Lewis
and Clark expedition. Sacagawea was not only a famous guide but she did a lot of things that no one
can do. She found her sibling during her journeys, she walked thousands of miles while pregnant, and
she stored many of her personal items in rivers. Sacagawea had a rough early life. Not much is said
about the early life of Sacagawea, but she and other women in her tribe were kidnapped by an enemy
tribe. Soon, Sacagawea was on a trail with her husband Toussaint ... Show more content on

Sacagawea was known for her perseverance and resourcefulness. She also gained the captain s respect
for her bravery during the wrecking of one of the exploring boats on the river. After the 75 mile trip
crossing the Continental Divide the group was found by a group of Shoshones. The Shoshone leader
was Sacagawea s brother Cameahwait, and after 5 years Sacagawea was finally reunited with her
family. If it wasn t for Sacagawea, Lewis and Clark were able to purchase the horses needed for their
westward travel. Sacagawea proved as a valued interpreter and peacemaker in the expedition s
meetings with new tribes, who were ready to defend their land, and during encounters with Shoshone
speaking chiefs. She guided the expedition through her familiar homelands and proved to be
invaluable to the leaders. After the expedition, Sacagawea returned to her Hidatsa Mandan home with
her husband Charbonneau, and their son Baptiste. Six years later she gave birth to her daughter Lisette
on December 22, 1812. Although Sacagawea died at age 25, mainly from childbirth complications at

Summary Of The Flexibility In Duty Hour
This article is about discussing weather or not limiting medical residents hours would be harmful for
patients. Some argue that sleep deprived clinicians threaten patient safety since medical residents were
originally allowed to work shifts of up to 30 hours straight. However, the Accreditation Council for
Graduate Medical Education updated its standards back in 2011, limiting residents in their first years
to work at a maximum of 16 hour shifts or 80 hour workweeks, and others to 24 hour shifts. This
study focuses on a clinical trial on work hours for medical students in residency that argue that there
are conflicts and dangerous for patients and practitioners. The trial was called FIRST, The Flexibility
in Duty Hour Requirements for Surgical Trainees Trial, which was led by Dr. Karl Bilimoria, director
of the surgical outcomes and quality improvement center at Northwestern University s Feinberg
School of Medicine. FIRST was created to compare the current standard hours with more flexible
hours, doctors and medical students had to follow the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical
Education (ACGME) duty hour requirements. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. Jews And Booze By Marni Davis In Marni Davis s book Jews and Booze, she offers readers a well researched study addressing Jewish immigrant acculturation. Data on Jews, booze, and prohibition is familiar to scholars who study the histories of New York City, Chicago, and New Jersey. Much to her credit, Davis also gathers information from southern locales such as Atlanta and California. In Robert Rockaway s book But He Was Good to His Mother, he examined Jewish gangsters in the early twentieth century and came to the conclusion that the reason a large number of them worked in the illegal alcohol business was because of the profit caused by prohibition and the intense thirst society developed for alcohol that came with it. When he studied further he realized that these gangsters running illegal operations often were more caring and human than people believed. Incorporated into this review are studies of the real life activity of these gangsters through information that Rockaway was able to recover. As Jewish immigrants found their place in nineteenth and twentieth century America, alcohol was never far from their lips. True, Jews were known for their abstemious drinking habits, but the production and sale of alcoholic beverages offered economic opportunity in the United States as it had in Europe, where some Jews were vintners, brewers, liquor distributors, and tavern owners (Davis). However, if alcohol selling brought prosperity, it also brought the Jews into the world of mobs and gangsters. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Holistic Rubrics A tool to evaluate a third year nursing student for the management of a postoperative patient using the nursing process Educators are faced with many challenges in accurately assessing and evaluating students, and although these two codes are closely related, their effective completion requires different actions. Assessment is a systematic process of collecting and interpreting information about students achievements, while evaluation refers to a value judgement that attaches meaning to the data obtained through assessment (Mc Donald, 2007). Educators are called upon to assess and evaluate students who they instruct based on the students learning outcomes and course objectives. For this reason, rubrics underpin the coordination of instruction and assessment, and they help students learn (Books, 2013). There are two types of rubrics available for use in examinations, a holistic rubric and an analytic rubric. Holistic rubrics can be defined as single criteria rubrics (one dimensional) used to assess participants overall achievement on an activity or item based on predefined achievement levels. Holistic rubrics may use a percentage or text only scoring method and to assess student s work as a whole. (Brightspace, 2016) Analytic rubric focuses on individual elements of the ideal response and scores each element separately (McDonald, 2007). Analytic rubrics identify and assess components of a finished product. This word stress is thrown around by the media so much it s losing its meaning but have you ever wondered how they define stress? The Merriam Webster dictionary defines stress as a physical, chemical, or emotional factor that causes bodily or mental tension and may be a factor in disease causation. Our text book defines stress as the term used to describe the physical, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral responses to events that are appraised as threatening or challenging. Believe it or not there are such things as good and bad stress. Too much of either can lead to disorders that can control our lives and can help spiral our lives out of control. These disorders can possibly, in a sense, make us do things that we normally wouldn t do. It s almost like an altered uncontrollable state of both mind and body. One of those stress disorders is called acute stress disorder. Acute Stress Disorder, or ASD, is characterized by the development of severe anxiety, dissociative, and other symptoms that occurs within one month after exposure to an extreme traumatic stressor. This disorder was unfortunately the most common suffered by many people after the traumatic events of 9/11. Another stress disorder that is commonly found among returning soldiers from war is called post traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD. Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a disorder that can develop following a traumatic event that threatens your safety or makes you feel helpless. Traumatic events that can lead to PTSD include rape, a natural disaster, kidnapping, assaults, car or plane crash, medical procedures especially in young children, and war. According to The National Institute of Mental Health, women seem to be more susceptible to PTSD and have almost twice the risk of developing PTSD. It s easy to talk about the major life changes and major stressors but the most of our daily stress come from the smallest things. From minor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Edgar Allen Poe s narrative poem The Raven The narrator is in a state of deep depression, guilt that he let his rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore (The Raven) get away from him, the guilt has been eating away at him to the point where he is driven mad. I believe in this poem there was no raven, just a guilty mad man who s imagination overcame him, the guilt and regret of never being able to see his perfect maiden again pushes him closer and closer towards insanity until he snaps. I believe that there was no raven in this story at all, just a man cursing life itself for his hardships. The Persistence of Memory painted in 1931 by Dali, a highly renowned surrealist painter, is among the most interesting works I have ever seen. It is reasonable, I think, to assume that most people could have created a landscape painting with mountains being reflected into a sea, and that may have been Dali s goal when he started to paint The Persistence of Memory. However, there remains no doubt that Dali s subconscious was at work here because no one else could ever imagine the exact image depicting melting time as seen here. The conscious part of the brain is the area that is alive and comprehends what is happening to one and the world around one. The landscape, Catalonia, Spain (Dali s hometown), was the result of Dali s conscious mind because he was living it and taking it in with his own two eyes. Everything stemmed from thoughts of daydreams, bad memories, and other possible goods or evils that dwell in the subconscious mind. Wikipedia explains that Sigmund Freud believed that the unconscious mind was a depository of wishes, desires, socially unacceptable ideas, traumatic memories, and/or painful emotions. Dali s painting appears to be representative of mainly the subconscious mind because many of the elements in the painting express objects or ideas that are highly characteristic of memories, dreams, or even socially unacceptable elements. More importantly, The Museum of Modern Art explains that a year before this painting was made Dali began to undergo his paranoiac critical method which stimulated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Grimm Brothers fairy tales would be considered dark and gruesome by today s standards. Parents would not allow their own children near the stories, which caused society to give the tales a more PG feeling. The tales changed and became what we know them as today. Disney has played a major role in creating the innocent versions that today s early generations have experienced. While they rarely admit it, societies, such as Disney, caused the original works of the Grimm Brothers to be overshadowed by their infantile adaptations. Most of you have probably heard of the Grimm brothers, and if you haven t heard of them, you have most likely seen their work. Disney movies like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Cinderella are child friendly versions of the Grimm brothers original fairy tales. Ironically, the brothers had no intention on becoming story tellers, when first starting their journey. The book The Annotated Brothers Grimm stated, that when trying to study other languages they found it easiest and best to share stories that had been passed down generation to generation. The Obama administration recently ordered all federal agencies to begin making at least two apps as part of its digital government plan (Breeden II, 2012). With this mandate some agencies are already ahead of the power curve having apps hit the market already while still developing new apps, but one of the things that government agencies will have to adjust is the level of their apps as they are considered primitive compared to the private sector apps. The immediate context of these social dialogues creates a clear division between each text, however the intertextual similarities between minor and major characters create an effective parallel to traverse decades, years, months and days. As reality is blurred in psychological time, external time punctuates the novel There! Out it boomed. First a warning, musical, then the hour, irrevocable this reminds the reader that this story is in fact occurring in a single day and every event experienced outside of this timeframe is a figment of a characters memory. Woolf makes these memories the focus of the novel rather than external time to create a mobile reality where she fabricates the sense of movement by traversing time through the consciousness of her characters. These memories therefore are from a specific point of view and therefore exclude some properties of the remembered moment and parts of said reality may simply be dissolved in the air as the memory fades with ongoing time. Daldry approaches Woolf s tunnelling technique with sensitivity and subtlety in order to unify Virginia, Laura and Clarissa. Rescission officially voids a contract. In contract law, rescission has been defined as the unmaking of a contract between parties. Rescission is the unwinding of a transaction. This is done to bring the parties, as far as possible, back to the position in which they were before they entered into a contract. [6] The contract between Debbie and Alan is VOID (SUPRA). As such, the court will most likely rescind the contract and officially make it void. • 20. The Digital World Is Affecting Today s Youth Sandra Boyd analyzes how nearly ubiquitous access to the digital world is affecting today s youth in It s Complicated. She explains how the app generation is struggling to self identify and successfully leverage the Internet to be app enabled. Youth s app dependency is a result of access to digital technology and social media at an early age, and is preventing youth from properly self identifying themselves. This, in turn, is affecting how they build relationships and how they think creatively. The online community our group has decided to look into is the PCMasterRace subreddit. This subreddit is a community of PC gamers sharing information about computer hardware, post creative and visually appealing computer configurations (called builds or rigs ) and post satirical or funny pictures about trending topics. Reddit provides a platform for people with unique special interests (i.e. PC s) to communicate and collaborate; it is a place where relationships have the opportunity to be built and where creative ideas can be expressed openly. Recently, a major topic of this subreddit has been to help console peasants ascend to the ranks of the PC Master Race. Console peasants often deny that PCs outrank consoles in terms of performance and ability when gaming and respond to PCMasterRace commentary by posting nonsense, making claims that playing at suboptimal graphics settings on their consoles make for a better atmosphere and an overall superior gaming experience. ... A Literary Creation of Man 3 A Literary Creation of Man As legend suggests, the Greek God Prometheus gave a man the ability to create a fire so that they could thrive and in doing so, he angered Zeus. Zeus punishes Prometheus endlessly and creates Pandora to unleash upon the perfect world all the griefs and hardships that are known to man today. This full portrayal is in the short story Prometheus and the First people by Olivia E. Coolidge. This essay will examine how the author utilizes literary elements in composing this mythical story about the resiliency of man. Another advantage of an unwritten or un codified constitution is that it is evolutionary because it develops with historical changes. An example of this is when parliament in the UK took total sovereignty away from the monarchy in 1867. Changes to the British constitution reflect a changing balance of power. The constitution is important even though it is not written form because it formed the basis of the separation of power that we now have, for example between the Lords and the Commons. The rate of flowering can be estimated as a function of either quantitative or qualitative response. Phalaenopsis generate two bud primordial at each node and it becomes dormant. Under favorable conditions, the bud emerges into an inflorescence. The signal to trigger the inflorescence is temperature. Many plant species on practicing diurnal fluctuation in temperatures elicited flowering process. In this orchid, In the subtending leaf, a small vegetative bud and a large reproductive bud are present. If favorable conditions return, the reproductive bud grows and will lead to flowering. After the elongation of the reproductive stem, the development of floral buds starts. and only if favorable environmental conditions prevail. Sufficient light is required for immediate towards low temperatures to initiate spiking. The materials and methods required for this study is plant material, plant culture, Temperature treatments. Phalaenopsis clones are transplanted into pots that contain 75% Douglas fir bark, 10% of sphagnum peat and 15% pertile and cultivated in grrenhouse. • 40. Just Grow A Pair Short Story Just do it! Grow a pair! Why are you talking to yourself? Pay attention to him! My head is going 1,000 miles a minute, my palms are as sweaty as if they were attached to an overweight kid running the mile during fat camp, and I m pretty sure I can feel the pools of sweat forming underneath my arms. Each step I take feels like it s heavier. The hallway to the parking garage is becoming longer and longer as we get (what is supposed to be) closer to the door. This cannot be that hard can it? I always see it in those cheesy romantic movies all the damn time. Why the hell am I feeling all these emotions that I never felt before? What the fuck happened to me? It all started at the beginning of the fall semester. I came to the first day of Comic Book Writing fifteen minutes early, as usual, and picked out the seat I ... Once he started college and moved away from his family, his mom started being a total bitch to him and nearly ostracized him from the other family members. She would purposely make family dinners that somehow had some sort of meat product inside of it and would always get into arguments with him (I actually witnessed one argument between the two over the phone). I eventually ended up mirroring the way he dressed. Whenever he would wear oxford shoes, I would wear a pair the next week, if not the next day. He liked mustard colored cardigans? November 2014. 1. Introduction Belize is a private sector led small economy that is highly dependent on external trade and vulnerable to internal and external shocks arising from its macroeconomic and trade policies . Belize trade profile shows that about 61.6 percent of its exports are on agricultural products while imports and exports to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) ratios are 72.4 and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With this, a substantial volume of Belize s exports is traded under preferential agreements and its trade policy is influenced by participation in the Caribbean Community and Community Market (CARICOM) as well as other Preferential Trading Agreements (PTAs) and negotiating groups. Whether or not its participation in these preferential trading groups is beneficial to its current and potential engagements in the world trading system is germane to this study. This analysis is therefore aimed/focused at providing an insight into the Belize current and potential engagements in the world trading system. In order to achieve this, the analysis delves into the bases for trade in Belize (section 2); the effects of her trade policies on potential trade and negotiating position (section 3); the economic/political conditions affecting her trade (section 4) and concludes by summarizing the key findings. 2. Bases for Trade Belize engages in trade with the rest of the world because there exist frontiers constraints on movement of factors, different endowments and/or payments, different tax policies and trade/transport costs (Wooton, 2013). All these, inter alia, culminate in differences between Belize and its trading partners, hence international trade. More specific, is the fact that Belize seeks to generate additional market access to create the requisite demand pull for generating economies of scale, thereby relying heavily ... • 42. Reflection About Intercultural Communication Thanks to the development of the Internet and transportation especially aviation industry, the world has become smaller and smaller. Nowadays people have had more chances to communication and meet each other from all over the world. As a result, Intercultural Communication has been one of the most important subjects at school in general and at my school University of Languages and International Studies in particular. Personally it has been my most favorite subject this semester because of both the useful knowledge of intercultural communication that the course has brought to me and my teacher s effective teaching methods of conveying it through her lectures. After completing the course I feel more confidence when communicating with people from different cultures. Particularly I can apply some helpful information from the course to explain cultural differences in my relationship with an English man and find solutions to tackle the problems occurring as consequences of those differences. • 43. The Case Against High School Sports Funding in America After reading The Case Against High School Sports by Amanda Ripley started to make me think. There were many strong points about how the priorities of the sports are beginning to be more important to students than their education. Another great point was that the financing and budgeting is unfairly distributed throughout school districts and is spent more on athletics and clubs and not enough on classes. And I Believe that schools should put certain restrictions on the spending and promoting or in school sports and clubs because of the major drop in national and world comparisons. Teachers who dubble as a coach often split commitments between being a coaching and teaching such as when schools have to find substitutes for the days ... If you compare American schools to other renowned top schools world wide such as in Europe and Asia you would see a remarkable difference with the amount of time and money spent on sports. Ripley stated that one football player costs about $1,300 a player. Math, by contrast, cost just $618 a student. And the school district could save $150,000 in one year with cutting school sports and extracurriculars (Ripley,3). Our Johnston School District also has a large price as our state s Athletic Director Gary Ross: When you get to the issue of budgets there is really two parts to them. The general budget which is what the school district per say pays towards coaches salaries, transportation, and event workers. Coaches salaries are normally $120,000, transportation would be $50,000, and event workers can be around $5,000 $10,000. Then the other part of the budget is the sports income, which is money from booster clubs, participation from other schools, and admissions, and it comes to roughly $120,000. Which goes out to uniforms, the athletic trainer, equipment and our participation at other school events. (Ross) It should be that if a school is struggling financially to provide for the school district , it should have an immediate plan to cancel athletics to save or help the school make a comeback because ... • 45. Summary Of The Flexibility In Duty Hour This article is about discussing weather or not limiting medical residents hours would be harmful for patients. Some argue that sleep deprived clinicians threaten patient safety since medical residents were originally allowed to work shifts of up to 30 hours straight. However, the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education updated its standards back in 2011, limiting residents in their first years to work at a maximum of 16 hour shifts or 80 hour workweeks, and others to 24 hour shifts. This study focuses on a clinical trial on work hours for medical students in residency that argue that there are conflicts and dangerous for patients and practitioners. The trial was called FIRST, The Flexibility in Duty Hour Requirements for Surgical Trainees Trial, which was led by Dr. Karl Bilimoria, director of the surgical outcomes and quality improvement center at Northwestern University s Feinberg School of Medicine.
