Homeschooling And A Traditional Public Education
Parenting does not come with a guide, but the decisions made by parents are essential to shaping a
child s future. One of the most significant decisions to be made is choosing the child s educational
plans. The only options that are available are homeschooling or a traditional public education. While
there are a few options, the choice has to be assessed properly. The dilemmas placed before parents
are the lack of knowledge for an education taught within a home setting or the lack of a proper
environment within a traditional school setting.
There are many facets of homeschooling that people may not know. In order to understand the concept
of homeschooling, it is important to define the term and point out its origin. Homeschooling is a
nonpublic school directed mainly by the parent of guardian. Formal learning began at home with
parents teaching their children domesticated skills and morals. The home based education system
changed in 1642 when the Massachusetts Bay Colony passed a law requiring children to be taught to
read by parents. As time progressed, laws were made to change the teaching environment. Families
were required to form grammar schools. Public school became mandatory in the 19th century when
individual states started passing compulsory schooling laws. These laws require parents to send their
children to a public or state accredited private or parochial school. The majority of the states required
children to begin school at ages five to seven years old and

General Education And Special Education
Co Teaching Expectations
Division of Labor
General education and special education teacher are require to work together as a team to ensure the
students in the inclusive classroom setting is learning with the accurate accommodation and tools to fit
their needs. The general education and special education teacher work together to create a lesson plan
to which it targets all areas of learning for all students in the inclusive classroom setting. Both teachers
should sit together to discuss their concerns for their students and contact the parents together to allow
the parents to understand it is a team working as a unit.
Space Furniture
As both teachers should have a desk to complete work, the desk should be on opposite ends of the
classroom for instance, one in the back of the classroom and one in the front as each teacher should be
the eyes for each other. The classroom desk should allow room for both teachers to move around
freely along with a table for small group learning and/or one on one help. In certain situation a table
may cause the room to become too small, grouping a group of five student s desks together will allow
the inclusive teachers to conduct small group lesson for the students to complete together, which will
allow the general and special education teacher to work with a group of students who need additional
help.
Classroom Routines Discipline
At the beginning of each marking period, both the general and special education teacher should

Battle Of Dunkirk Research Paper
World War II officially began on September 1, 1939 the invasion of Poland. Adolf Hitler was wanting
to conquer all of Europe and its living space. A military tactic used in World War II was Blitzkrieg a
tactic designed to create disorganization among enemy forces through the use of mobile forces such as
planes, artillery and tanks. Blitzkrieg meaning lightning war was first used in the invasion of Poland
and later on officially established in the Invasion of France, Netherlands, and Belgium. Not only did
the Germans use the tactic of blitzkrieg they also had a powerful army that consisted of four groups
the: Luftwaffe(Air Force) ,Weimar(Regular Nazi Army) , SS (Special Forces), and the SA(Racially
superior soldiers). Hitler almost conquered all of Europe, but there were some mistakes in this war
that costed him the win such as: Dunkirk, The Invasion of Russia and the Allies victories. ... Show

The Battle of Dunkirk was an important battle, it was a battle between the allies and Germany . A
battle of defence and evacuation of the British soldiers. Nazi Germany led the British soldiers to
escape in hopes that they would help comprise peace and join him in the conquering of Europe and its
living space, but that did not happen. The British did not join Hitler and his madness to conquer
Europe. The battle of Kursk which was another mistake based on the fact the Germans lost the ability
to begin with an offensive strategy against the Soviet Union. The battle of Kursk was one of the
largest tank battles in history. June 22, 1941 Adolf Hitler launched Operation Barbarossa sending his

How Did King Louis Xiv Have An Absolute Monarchy
French King Louis XIV became king at the age of four. However, it was not until after the death of
Cardinal Mazarin, that Louis was officially recognized as the King of France in 1643 until 1715. He
referred to himself as the Sun King and is well known for the building of Versailles and being the best
illustration of an absolute monarchy in the seventeenth century. However, historians think that it might
have not been an absolute democracy since France had other influencers with authority. Instead, Louis
achieved an indirect absolute monarchy by controlling the policy making regulations and the people in
his court. France was the dominant power in Europe at the time, and Louis he wanted to showcase it
through his military forces and the Palace of Versailles. He also wanted to unite the Catholics which
lead to conflict with Protestants, and invested a vast amount ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Sun King did not want Protestants to practice their religion in a largely Catholic France. He
believed in the idea of one king, one law, one faith, since he felt that any other minorities can
threatened his political supremacy. He issued the Edict of Fontainebleau and revoked the Edict of
Nantes. The Edict of Nantes was issued by Henry IV and gave some religious freedom to French
Protestants, who were also known as Huguenots. The new edict called for the wreckage of Huguenot
churches and the closure of Protestant schools. About 200,000 Huguenots left France to seek shelter in
other countries. The support for no Protestantism came from the people of France. They rejected the
rights of Protestants, banned them from government meetings, and destroyed Protestant churches.
Which eventually lead Catholicism to regain control in densely Protestant areas. All in all, King Louis
XIV was not supportive of Protestant reform in France because he wanted to keep it a Catholic

How To Write A Paper On Totem Poles
Did you ever wonder what these scary looking figures were that was on totem poles? Totem poles
were initiated from the Northwest Indian tribes. They are built using symbolic objects from Elements
of Nature, Colors, and Geometrical shapes that represent stories, myths, and/or an important event. I
chose seven items that share the same qualities as me. To elaborate, I picked a unicorn, monkey,
elephant, lotus, dolphin, dog and the color blue because they represent my story. The first item I chose
was the unicorn. I chose this because it represents my positivity and creativity. This majestic animal is
unique just like me. Everyone is different in their own ways, just like how unicorns are un similar to
horses.

I chose an elephant because it could possibly represent good luck and health. Furthermore, elephants
symbolize my religious beliefs. Since elephants are a big part of Buddhism, I wanted to imply it on
my totem pole. Ever since I was younger, I would go to a Buddhist monastery to pray and learn more
about my religion. I wanted this to be included on my totem pole because my religion means a lot to
me.
The fourth item is a lotus flower. I chose a lotus flower because it symbolizes my calm and peaceful
attitude. Not only that but it shows everyone s true beauty inside. Meaning outside is beautiful but
once you observe more you can see all the little details that make up this flower. Despite the fact that a
lotus begins on a muddy surface. It grows up to be a beautiful flower. Additionally, Lotus are very
gentle and delicate.
The fifth item on my totem pole is an adorable mammal. It s a dolphin! I chose a dolphin because they
are a lot similar to humans. To me, dolphins represent my joy and happiness every day. To elaborate,
dolphins and I are extremely friendly and cheerful. We both will support our family and friends with
anything.Dolphins and human both care about everyone very much and nothing will stop us from

Virtualization Is The New Piece Of Software
With technology expanding itself into businesses, virtualization is the new piece of software that will
help any IT employee worldwide. Virtualization is the most effective way to reduce IT expenses while
boosting efficiency and agility for not only large enterprises, but for small and midsize businesses as
well. VMware virtualization lets you run multiple operating systems and applications on a single
server. The three types of virtualization are server, client (or desktop), storage virtualization. Server
virtualization is the partitioning of a physical server into smaller virtual servers to help maximize your
server resources. They also host files and applications on a computers network, which is has to be very
powerful. Server ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you are using a host based virtual machine, each user must connect to an individual virtual machine
that is hosted in a data center. When using a shared hosted virtual machine, users must connect to
either a shared desktop or on individual applications that run on a server. Shared hosted is also known
as remote desktop services or terminal services (Rouse, 2015). Storage virtualization is the
amalgamation of multiple network storage devices into what appears to be a single storage unit.
Servers see the virtualization layer as a single storage device, while the individual storage devices see
the virtualization layer as their only server. Doing this makes it easy to group storage systems from
devices from different places go into tiers of storage. Storage virtualization that is host based has
physical drives that are handled by a device driver, while the software above the driver intercepts I/O
requests and looks up metadata and redirects I/O. It can also be a storage device based, which will
have a primary controller that handles pooling and manages metadata, allowing the direct attachment
of other storage controllers. Network based in storage virtualization uses a Fibre Channel network
which connects as a SAN (Kay, 2015). When using virtualization, the actual machine that the
virtualization is being processed on is called the host machine and the guest machine is considered as
the virtual machine. The software applications when being virtualized are

A True War Story Is Never Moral Analysis
Beginning in 1965, the Vietnam War was a nearly decade long conflict in which the United States
attempted to halt the inevitable rise of Communism in Southeast Asia. Ultimately resulting in the
deaths of 60,000 Americans, the Vietnam War was a massive failure in American history ( Vietnam
War Fast Facts ). Domestically, the War sparked controversy and protests across the nation. As chaos
ensued in Vietnam, many Americans questioned the moral values of the United States Government. In
media, such inquiries quickly became a prominent topic, and films such as The Deer Hunter, directed
by Michael Cimino, became major hits. Even years later, the Vietnam War remained a significant
focus for many Americans, sparking a Vietnam war veteran, Tim O Brien, to write his war story novel,
The Things They Carried. In his book, O Brien thoroughly describes the guidelines of a true war story,
with a main point being that, A true war story is never moral (O Brien 76). In his film The Deer
Hunter, Michael Cimino asserts Tim O Brien s guideline that war stories are morally indifferent.
During the movie, Michael s actions in the Vietnamese village and Nick s death represent the lack of
virtue in the war.
Reflecting O Brien s guideline stating that, A true war story is never moral, Cimino ensures that the
protagonist s actions are not always portrayed as heroic (O Brien 76). One of such scenes occurs when
Michael is first depicted in the war. After the destruction of a small Vietnamese

A Memorable Moment In My Life
I remember this tragedy like it was this morning. My aunt was out of town, so I was staying with my
first cousin Andrew. I woke up fairly early for a weekend and had a cup of the best dark roast from
Starbucks in my pink and white polka dot coffee cup, along with 2 tablespoons of rich french vanilla
creamer. With my coffee, I went to go sit outside to listen to the bird s chirp, get a bit of fresh air and
clear my head for the long day ahead of me. In my cousin s backyard, they have a tall fogged glass
patio set, sitting upon the rustic wood patio. Sitting in the backyard made me feel as though it was just
me and nature herself, so put together, beautiful and calm. It was black Friday and my cousin and I
were going to head to my house for our families traditional pierogi making after breakfast. My mother
As well as other family members were already waiting there for our arrival. We got into the car and
rolled down the windows and started to play our favorite music. Once we got into the car we were
sitting there for a moment just on our phones and having a casual conversation. My cousin had
mentioned his friend getting into a car accident the month before, and we were positive that we were
going to be okay because he was a safe driver, and wanted to get both of us there safely. Andrew soon
started to drive on the way to my house, and the gas light turned on. My cousin pulled to the nearest
gas station. As we pulled in I got chills all the way from the bottom of my feet

Why I Have Gradually Learned Overtime Bit
My most wanted place to be calms me from the inside of my soul to the outside of feet. Always giving
me a pretty sight to see, no matter it be day or night because the temperature always feels so right. I
love the way the sand feels between my toes, almost losing control slipping beneath. Hearing the wave
s crash on the shoreline is so soothing to me sounding musically and symphonically. I can look so far
out, it helps me to get all my thoughts out. The water ready to immerse all of me, and I can let it all
go. Let the pain go, and all my anger drives the tide trying to pull me away.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self
control; against such things there is no law (Galatians 5:22 24). I have gradually learned overtime bit
by bit some of these fruitful things by being in my ecstasy. The beach just gives me peace, it just being
thus such a vast and beautiful attraction, awes and amazes me that one could have such a wonderful
leisure. Peace of mind is such a delightful feeling, and is available to each person. Almost there so I do
not stop what I am doing, the beach makes me feel like I need to drop everything bad on the floor. No
shirt, no jeans, just skin the waves do not hold back and I am all in. But it is okay cause all I am in is
just skin, and the water is flocking over me as I float on my back staring into the sky. All I want to see
is further within my skin, and the beach helps me not to keep

Reflection Of Jesus And The Perfect Life In Nursing
As I began to enfold the many great words in this book I began with chapter one. The first key point I
came across was learning how Jesus is our model. The book described how Jesus was not just a spirit
guiding us through our lives all though he could have been. Jesus walked this earth and lived out a
human life. Jesus showed us how to live the perfect life, and I believe this is a major aspect to carry
over to the nursing field. Being a Christian nurse inspires us to be the best version of ourselves. As we
reflect on the way Jesus lived we should do everything possible to live out a life like him. Jesus lived
the perfect life and as Christian nurses we should strive to be like him. The next thing that stood out to
me in chapter one was the closing prayer. It states how Jesus gave up heaven to come down here and
save us humans. God and Jesus really both gave the ultimate sacrifice. They both gave up so much to
help us humans. To relate this to the nursing field is very simple. God and Jesus gave up everything,
so I think it our duty as nurses to help and give back. They sacrificed so much, so being a Christian
nurse entails us to sacrifice, give back, and help others just like God and Jesus did for us. As I ponder
on the questions at the end of chapter I see how much Jesus really did for us. We learned how to live
the perfect life from Jesus. I see how much pain and suffering God and Jesus went through to save us
as humans. These questions make me realize that being a giver

Employee Turnover At My Current Company
Employee Turnover James Thurkettle Management 317 12/3/14 One of the biggest problems at my
current company is that we have a high number of employee turnovers. Some may ask what employee
turnover is? How would you define it? Employee turnover is the ratio of the number of workers that
had to be replaced in a given time period to the average number of workers. In human resources,
turnover or staff turnover is the rate at which an employer loses and gains employees. By using
methods that have proven successful for several different companies like improved screening and
interview processes and recording the cost from before and after implementation of a plan we can
accurately gauge conditions and adapt the plan as necessary to dramatically reduce the effects and
causes of employee turnover. Turnover is measured for individual companies and for their industry as
a whole. If an employer is said to have a high turnover relative to its competitors, it means that
employees of that company have a shorter average time with the company than those of other
companies in the same industry. This can be a scary trend as high turnover may be harmful to a
company s productivity. This is especially harmful if skilled workers are often leaving and the worker
population contains a high percentage of rookie or novice workers. Research and observations show
that an experienced employee often has an insight to the details of the processes that make up each
individual job and that

July 31, 1943
My name is Primo Michele Levi. Todays my birthday. I am 24 years old, born in Turin, Italy. I have
one sibling, Anne Maria Levi. Anne Maria and I have always been very close, I was always
considered small and shy, and I was a frequent target of bullying. I also thought poorly of myself
aswell, I often thought others viewed me as ugly and scrawny. I had also excelled academically,
always having straight A s and was the smartest student in my grade. By early teens I had liked
chemistry a lot. When I was 11 I entered the Massimo d Azeglio Royal Gymnasium. In class I was the
youngest, the shortest, and the smartest. I was also the only Jewish kid. When I was 13 I joined the
Avanguardisti movement. I joined the ski division, and spent every Saturday during the season on the
skiing above Turin. When I was 17, I failed my final exam. It was my first bad grade ever. At the end
of the summer I took the exam again and passed, and in October. I got into the University of Turin to
study chemistry. I spent three months taking classes, and in February, after passing my oral exam, I
was chosen to do a full time chemistry class. In 1941, I graduated. Today, my family and I are fleeing
to northern Italy, where we plan to join an Italian resistance group.

The Cultural Impact Of Technology
The world today is very different from the world our grandparents lived in. There are a lot of
advancements in technology that make things obviously different, but there are also many changes in
our culture and society that has been affected by technological changes that many people fail to
realize. One film that showcases the cultural impact of technology is the movie Hackers, directed by
Lain Softley. The film is centered around the latest technology available (in 1995 when the film was
released) and the growing culture centered around the elite hacker community. The premise of the film
is that a group of hackers are being framed for a virus that was launched to capsize ships if a demand
for five million dollars was not met. The group of hackers work together to prove that they are
innocent by hacking into the database of a major corporation. In that database is the virus that was
created by the company s head of cyber security that was supposed to steal a total of twenty five
million dollars. The ships that were to be destroyed were all linked through satellite connections. Each
ship is automatically guided and managed by a central computer. While it is commonplace for
companies today to use satellite guidance systems and remote access to onboard computers, the movie
does nudge the story along by making the whole system extremely vulnerable. Such things like three
character passwords and single centralized command centers are obvious flaws with the system used

Bill Gates Wanted to Change the World and He Did Essay
Without innovators, without people daring to take risks, without people daring to move the world,
society would never progress. As Steve Jobs once said, I have a great respect for incremental
improvement, and I ve done that sort of thing in my life, but I ve always been attracted to the more
revolutionary changes. I don t know why. Because they re harder. They re much more stressful
emotionally. And you usually go through a period where everybody tells you that you ve completely
failed (brainyquotes.com). Bill Gates, like Steve Jobs, wanted to change the world forever, which he
did. Bill Gates affected American history through his impact on technology while dealing with

the scene with growing employment and quadrupling revenue. Microsoft and Apple worked together
when the computers first started developing, sharing technology and making each others work
compatible with the others. They helped each other grow. Gates came up with a brilliant idea to build

a. Certain balance sheet accounts like accounts receivable and inventories are going to be very
significant for the computer manufacturer, but relatively immaterial for the hotel. The computer

b. The computer company auditor will have significant issues associated with the risk of misstatement

The European Union, A Common Currency, The Brexit, And The...
Introduction
The European Union was formed with many expectations. Despite closeness and similarities, the
various nations of the European continent fought bitter wars for thousands of years within themselves.
After the devastating World War II, finally everyone saw the light and decided to give a chance to a
peaceful coexistence. However, the EU s path has not been smooth. Many critical economic as well as
political problems have emerged throughout the last decade, raising questions about its credibility.
Two primary questions need to be explored here,
1. What are the most serious challenges in front of the EU at present?
2. How are these problems going to affect the credibility of the EU?
In this essay, I argue that the EU has failed, given the controversial issues that arise at present, namely
viability of the Euro as a common currency, the Brexit, and the migrant crisis from the Middle East.
Euro as a Common Currency
The viability of Euro as a common currency here will explicate the financial crisis in the Eurozone
countries to prove that the EU has failed. Before World War II, doing trade across borders is difficult.
Countries need to pay a fee to exchange currencies, before a tariff fee is then executed when trade
between companies of two different countries are involved. This eventually had stifled the economic
growth. After WWII has ended, the situation among the European countries is so dire that they have to
call for a unification process in order to hasten the

Lat-American Theory
Latino/a Critical Theory (LatCrit) born in 1995 as a specification of Critical Race Theory in several
Law Schools in United State. As Valdés (2000) states LatCrit theory has emerged within the legal
academy of the United States as one effort to learn more about how law and policy affect this nation s
rapidly growing and rapidly changing Latina/o communities, and to then explore how law and policy
ought to respond to this knowledge. (p.309). The scholar that study this theory have debated the
relationship of race and ethnicity to the construction of Latina/o places, positions, and prospects in
American law and society (Valdes, 2000, p.307). The aim of LatCrit is to use race as a lens and
language through which to assess the Latino/a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For this, LatCrit is part of a post modern theory (Wiessner, 1999) because the reality is built for what
individuals or social groups make it to be. According to several authors, there are four function of
LatCrit: (1) the production of knowledge; (2) the advancement of social transformation; (3) the
expansion and connection of antisubordination struggles; and (4) the cultivation of community and
coalition, both within and beyond the confines of legal academia in the United States. (Hernandez
Truyol, Harris Valdés, 2006, p.183). One of the main ideas in this diverse manner of function is that
praxis, theory and community are all united to work with several values in the base. These values are
intergroup justice, antisubordination, anti essentialism, multi dimensionality, praxis/solidarity,
community building, critical/self critical, ethical, transnational, and interdisciplinary (Bender Valdés,
2010, p. 182). Consequently, the paradigm behind LatCrit is Critical Theory, because here it is
possible to find an history of emancipation, empowering a group of the society that suffer social
injustice everyday (Guba Lincoln, 2005) disclosing this through the analysis of the reality. In a sense,
LatCrit is disruptive because pretend to reveal how Latinos/as live in USA in a way that is different
from the main paradigm, showing up the discrimination of the system against people that is not white,
but neither black. Therefore, being a theory more than a methodology it is hard to categorize in one of
the options of Brown, Carducci and Kuby (2014). However, the role of the researchers is disruptive,

Discussion On Abortion
US POSITION
The US and UNPA
The U.S continually supports UN programs and there are many national and international debates
about the subject. But the relationship between the U.S. government and UNFPA has followed a path
similar what is known as the gag rule (Guttmacher, (2015); Jones, (2011). The global gag rule (also
known as the Mexico City Policy) is a rule that prevents any organization (including UN agencies)
receiving U.S. international family planning funds from providing counseling or referrals for abortion
or advocating for access to abortion services in their country even with their own money (PIA, (2015);
Guttmacher, (2015); Jones, (2011). Though it has political connotations, I say it is a national policy

Someone might be against abortions on moral grounds but still support the legalization of it, because
criminalizing abortion will bring more hard to the mother (Brannigan Boss (2011). The UN believes
that denying access to family planning will hurt women and create a poorer social outcome for the
families, women, and girls (PIA, 2005). It is better to provide women with the necessary tools to
prevent unwanted pregnancies and abort if necessary in a safe fear free environment. Legal barriers
will lead to denial in access which will lead to unsafe abortions. The United States does not support
coercive abortion or forced sterilization. The U.S. has funded and defunded UNFPA from time to time
depending on how the administration of the day interprets the gag rule. Regardless of the moral status
of the fetus, my moderate view is that abortion might be morally wrong, but making it illegal will
create more harm to society, especially to women. My perspective is therefore a utilitarian moral

A Look Into The Culture Of Yemen
A Look into the Culture of Yemen
Yemen has surprised the world with its unexpected collapse into war. Yemen has a great strategic
value to nations vying for regional super power status, yet remains a cultural mystery to most of the
Western World. The culture of Yemen and its key fundamentals will be addressed.
Culture is extremely important in understanding a certain area or society. Culture is customs or beliefs
of a certain place or society. Five characteristics that define culture are learned, shared, symbolic,
intergraded, and dynamic culture ( Chapter 9: The characteristics of culture, n.d.). Learned culture

The Red Sea is to the west, and the Gulf of Aden is to the south. The physical geography is a mix of
mountainous terrain and desert. Yemen can be broken down into six regions the Tihama, highlands in
the west, central mountains, high plateau in the east, limestone tableland, and the Gulf of Aden coastal
plain. The Tihama is an area on the along the Red Sea, which provides commerce and trade on the
ports of al Mukha and al Hudayda. Fishing and agriculture are very popular in this area. The highlands
in the west get rain round the year to provide water for the agriculture. The central mountain region
where the capital of Sanaa lies has urban area but also areas of plateaus and basins. The plateau region
in the east eventually connects with the Rub al Khal desert with somewhat primitive living styles.
Plateaus and wadis along with seaports such as al Mulkalla and al Shahr make up the limestone
tableland. Finally, the five to ten mile wide stretch that starts from Aden all the way to al Ghayda is
the Gulf of Aden coastal plain region (Advameg, 1985). In 2013, the population was 25.4 million
people (Asia, 2015). Sanaa, Yemen s capitol is also the largest city, having a current population of 1.9
million people (Asia, 2015).

deteriorating or nonexistent. Of the roads they do have, only ten percent of them are paved, making

Abstract
This investigation explores gentrification within the Trinity Spadina Ward of Toronto. The research
question of To what extent is gentrification present in the Liberty Village neighborhood of Toronto?
largely focuses on redevelopment, land use and population demographics. Based on the comparison of
four indicators between Ward 20 and the City of Toronto, it was hypothesised that gentrification is a
prominent agent of change in the Liberty Village neighborhood.

Gentrification has a positive effect on a community in the sense that it ameliorates the local economy.
In lower income neighborhoods, the expansion of businesses and creation of jobs is limited by the
deficiency of monetary flow. However, as wealthier residents relocate to the area and invest money in
the community, businesses develop. Overtime, this trend continues and results in economic
development as well as more jobs, which benefits the community. Secondly, the process of
gentrification typically results in a lower crime rate. This is because gentrification involves the
attainment of vacant properties in order to build new developments. Therefore there will be a decrease
in vacant properties which typically attract crime. Additionally, an increase in population results in an
increase in local government revenue from taxes which can be spent on law

Song Of Roland
The Norton Anthology, a book containing countless stories and tales of heroism, holds a rather
confusing final verse to one of its great stories, the Song of Roland. This final line catches all those
who read it, trying to understand its true meaning. One must understand the final verse to fully
understand the story. The confusion surrounding the concluding line exists due to the ancient and
unclear language Turold wrote the story in. Through the seven translations he also changes the
wording in several diverse ways. Along with the confusing language and wording, scholars have
formed opinions about the meaning of the final line. Of the several possible meanings of the last line
of Song of Roland, each one affects the resolve and meaning of the entire story in different ways
through the confusing language, changes in wording, and various scholars opinions on the text.
Due to the confusing ancient Anglo Norman language, the final line stating Ci falt la geste que
Turoldus declinet has dumbfounded scholars trying to translate it. The meaning of the words geste and
declinet and the syntax of que still stand unresolved. Throughout the entirety of Song of Roland, no

died, or at least his health declined. The third set holds another translation, classifying the story as
history, not just a tale. Finally, the last version ends the most hazily, simply finishing of the poem

Essay on The evolution of Meteor
Meteor in the Irish telecommunications industry
Meteor Mobile was established in 2001, after having been awarded Ireland s third mobile license in
the year 1998 (ComReg, 1998). Since then, the Irish start up has acquired over a million customers
and built over 40 stores nationally (meteor.ie,2013). Over the course of 12 years, Meteor has become
one of the 50 best workplaces in Ireland and obtained 20% of the market share (meteor.ie, 2013) in a
very tough and fast developing industry.
In this essay I will assess the attractiveness of the Irish telecommunications industry before and after
its deregulation in 1998 by analyzing the forces at work within the market. I will also describe Meteor

Furthermore, there was no threat of forward integration by the suppliers. As the customer base was so
small suppliers depended on the wellbeing of the industry to succeed. All of these factors made
supplier power very low making the industry very attractive for firms.
It is also important to address the threat of substitute products available to the market. These are
products which meet the same needs as those sold by the industry. Porter argues that substitute
products will limit the potential of an industry (Porter, 1979) by diminishing its growth. Back in 1998,
there were not many substitute products apart from landline services. The lack of very similar
substitutes in the industry contributed to its attractiveness.
In an industry composed of various players, there is guaranteed competitive rivalry. Competitive
rivalry tends to be higher if there are many current and potential competitors (Porter 1979). In the case
of the mobile industry in 1998, there were only two players, which meant that competition was very
little. Furthermore, the market was very small, another factor limiting competition. Consumer loyalty
and retention were high as people were tied into contracts. This also reduced the competition within
the market. Low competitor rivalry is another attractive factor, as the firms didn t feel threatened by
others also in the industry. In conclusion, from the analysis it is clear that the

The Dangers of Aspartame Essay
The Dangers of Aspartame
The Federal Drug Administration approved aspartame, an artificial sweetener surrounded by
controversy, for widespread consumption in 1983. Its brand name, NutraSweet, is a division of
Monsanto, a major drug company who acquired G.D. Searle, the original drug company affiliated with
aspartame. Aspartame is used in everything from diet food to sugarless gum, but its major use is in
diet drinks. There have been studies done to determine what dosage of aspartame and it s by products,
aspartic acid, methyl alcohol or methanol, and phenylalanine, is safe to consume or if the amount is

According to a study in 2011 by Pennsylvania State University, 7.6 percent of the general population
has problems with sleep paralysis. The trouble is that sleep paralysis can be dismissed as no more than
a vivid nightmare. Studies have proven that sleep paralysis can happen to anyone and indeed will at
some point in their life; however, it is possible that an episode can go unnoticed. Sleep paralysis
occurs at one of two times: Hypnagogic sleep paralysis occurs as one falls asleep. Hypnopompic sleep
paralysis occurs as one awakes from sleep. In both cases, it is believed to be a result of disrupted REM
sleep which routinely induces complete muscle atonia, relaxing and easing the body into a state of
voluntary paralysis. This is to prevent sleepers from acting out their dreams, potentially harming
themselves in the process. REM sleep disruption insists that the sleeper is having troubling
transitioning into various stages of sleep, like a computer failing to process data. Scientists have yet to
uncover any empirical evidence that could explain this faulty transition. The paralysis remains, yet the
mind is aware. This might explain why many who have experienced this phenomenon feel as though
they have woken up in a coffin or grave. Michael Breus, Ph.D., clinical psychologist and fellow at the

Compare And Contrast Gerty In The Lamplighter
True looked at Gerty in perfect wonder and distress. He knew nothing about children, and was
astonished at her simplicity. He could not leave her there, such a cold night; but he hardly knew what
he could do with her if he took her home, for he lived alone, and was poor. But another violent
coughing spell decided him at once to share with her his shelter, fire and food, for one night, at least.
So he took her by the hand, saying Come with me; and Gerty ran along confidently by his side, never
asking whither. Gerty and True s relationship is one unlike any other in the book The Lamplighter.
Gerty went through many torturous foster homes in her life. Her previous foster parents were all
despicable. Eventually, Gerty is brought to home with a woman named Nan Grant. The only good
thing about this home is that every night a man would come around and light the lamps along the
sidewalks. Gerty always looked forward to seeing the lamplighter come by. They first spoke to each
other when Gerty came running back to the house with milk and tripped, resulting in the milk spilling
everywhere. True, the lamplighter, was taken aback by Gerty s appearance but then said, kindly She

Florence Kelley is a social worker and reformer who fights for child labor laws and better working
conditions for women. At the National Assembly Women Suffrage Association in Philadelphia on July
22, 1905, Kelley recites a speech about the issue of child labor laws. She uses rhetorical strategies
such as repetition of the many negative aspects of child labor through specific examples, criticism of
state policies, and emotional appeal. A combination of figures, logic, evidence, and emotional appeal
will help convince her audience that child labor is a problem. Kelley utilizes factual information to

Kelley says, Last year New Jersey took a long backward step. A good law was repealed which had
required women and [children] to stop work at six in the evening and at noon on Friday. Now,
therefore, in New Jersey, boys and girls, after their 14th birthday, enjoy the pitiful privilege of
working all night long. Kelley s interesting use of the phrase pitiful privilege refers to the child labor
laws set by states. These children are allowed to work, to carry the burden of an adult on their
shoulders when they reach a certain age. The word pitiful is feeling sorry for someone, while privilege
refers to a granted right. Put together, these two words create a different meaning, an oxymoron. The
pitiful privilege of these children being allowed to work, but having to work for so long is very
problematic. Her effective use of this oxymoron, is criticizing the states, as these rights they give to
the children is only hurting them, when it should be helping. Kelley heavily refers to states laws to

The Issue Of Independence From Britain
Once the Americans solved the issue of independence from Britain, they were immediately confronted
with another critical issue, what to do with slavery. On one hand, the South zealously supported
slavery and the expansion of it. The North, on the other hand, was very much against the survival and
expansion of slavery. The conflicting ideology created a problem in the new nation, through which
compromises did little to remedy. This gave rise to the development of sectionalism in the states.
Throughout the early development of the U.S., the main political crisis, slavery, along with a few other
minor crises were bandaged with compromises, but it was not until the Compromise of 1877 that the
crises were finally dealt with for good. Political divisions first came about when Secretary of the
Treasury Alexander Hamilton offered a financial plan in 1790 and 1791. Hamilton s immediate goals
were to establish the nation s financial stability, bring to the government s support the country s most
powerful financial interests, and encourage economic development. He had a long term goal of
making the U.S. a commercial and military power. Hamilton sought to achieve his goals by modeling
the U.S. after Great Britain. He also created a five part program. It consisted of creating credit
worthiness, creating national debt, a national bank, a tax on producers of whiskey, and the imposition
of a tariff and government subsidies to encourage the development of factories that could

How Advertising Has Changed Since The World Of Pay Per...
Advertising has changed significantly since the introduction of the Internet. In the past, advertising
mediums such as radio, print, and television ads dominated companies marketing plans. As the
Internet gained prevalence, more and more of companies money has been siphoned into email, social
media, and Pay Per Click advertising. In recent years, this has led to marketers placing more and more
weight on analysis like Click Through Rate, Cost Per Click, and Cost Per Acquisition. All of these
terms exist within the world of Pay Per Click advertising, which has become one of the most
prominent forms of advertising on the internet. Due to society s increased reliance on the Internet, Pay
Per Click advertising will continue to grow for years to come. Pay Per Click advertising, or PPC,
refers to the type of advertising commonly found on Google, Bing, other search engines, and even
within some websites. One example of how PPC advertising works is Google AdWords. This is the
software which allows advertisers to publish their ads on Google, and having a basic understanding of
how it works is key to being able to understand why PPC is as important as it is. To begin with, the
simplest form of PPC are the text ads at the top of a Google search. These are a part of the Google

results that appear without any money being spent). The ads appear at the top of the page, and, in case

My Last Duchess By Robert Browning Essay
My last duchess by Robert Browning Quote Analysis
My Last Duchess by Robert Browning is a mysterious monologue about a duke who is showing a
portrait of his former wife or last duchess to a visitor at his palace. While showing this portrait of his
former wife, the duke begins to demean the duchess character and their life together. Although the
duke is very well spoken and chooses his words carefully as he describes the duchess, he ends up
reveling more about himself than his last duchess. By doing so, he reveals that she had been a lovely,
kindhearted woman, while he himself is cruel, jealous, proud, and arrogant.
The first two lines of the poem introduces us to the main topic of the duke speech and gives the reader
a hint that there s seems to be something wrong That s my last Duchess painted on the wall, Looking
as if she were alive the reader begins to suspect that the duchess is no longer alive. Browning uses
clever language in theses lines of the poem to foreshadow that the duke assassinated the duchess, in
which later on in the poem the reader realizes that he did so. In lines 45, 46, and 47 the following is
written, This grew; I gave commands; then all smiles stopped together. There she stands as if alive The
reader comes to the conclusion that the duke assassinated the duchess, illustrating that the duke is a
cruel man who will give the command to get ride of whatever disturbs him, in this case the duchess.

Pros And Cons Of Violence In Video Games
Ever since the nineteen eighties people, usually politicians and the news media, have been quick to
blame video games for societal woes, saying violence in video games causes violent behavior and
makes people anti social. Some have even argued video games cause racism, sexism, and cause health
problems, but most research that points towards video games being bad are inconsistent and
sometimes contradictory. And yet people still want to restrict and censor video games, even though
they are an art form just like film or paintings or what have you, and because they are an art form they
are a form of media and are protected under the first amendment. Violent video games do not cause
real world violence like any art form they only mirror the violence of the real world, and it is
contradictory to think that they cause actual violence. Video games have even been shown to be
healthy, they relieve stress and increase hand eye coordination, and are a positive, non violent form of
relieving aggression in a way that does not cause physical harm to others.

Animal Mounted Shooting Is A Event
Cowboy mounted Shooting is a timed event where competitors run a designated pattern, while
shooting ten balloon targets with two .45 caliber single action revolver guns, loaded with five rounds
of blank ammunition each. Mounted shooting combines the styles of an old time Wild West show and
skills of barrel racing, pole bending, and reigning all into one event. Any breed of horse or mule can
be used in the event, according to the Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association, some horses take easy
to the event while other horses struggle with the loud environment. The temperament is a huge factor
of how well the animal compete in the show, along with the rider s determination in training the horse.
A horse I believe would be good for mounted shooting would be a small quarter horse with a short
back because quarter horses are known for their laid back and quite domineer. While short back would
be useful with bending around the poles and barrels in a quick manner.
Although, traditional western style is accepted, with long sleeve western style shirt, five pocket blue
jeans, chaps, western boots and cowboy hat. Riders are encouraged to wear a period costume since,
the event pays tribute to the Wild West and the late 1800s. Competitors dressed in old time style
costumes would wear a shirt without a collar, high wasted pants with buttons in place of the zipper,
and an old style cowboy hat. Women that compete in the show have the option to wear a dress or skirt

  • 2. Homeschooling And A Traditional Public Education Parenting does not come with a guide, but the decisions made by parents are essential to shaping a child s future. One of the most significant decisions to be made is choosing the child s educational plans. The only options that are available are homeschooling or a traditional public education. While there are a few options, the choice has to be assessed properly. The dilemmas placed before parents are the lack of knowledge for an education taught within a home setting or the lack of a proper environment within a traditional school setting. There are many facets of homeschooling that people may not know. In order to understand the concept of homeschooling, it is important to define the term and point out its origin. Homeschooling is a nonpublic school directed mainly by the parent of guardian. Formal learning began at home with parents teaching their children domesticated skills and morals. The support for no Protestantism came from the people of France. They rejected the rights of Protestants, banned them from government meetings, and destroyed Protestant churches. Which eventually lead Catholicism to regain control in densely Protestant areas. • 6. How To Write A Paper On Totem Poles Did you ever wonder what these scary looking figures were that was on totem poles? Totem poles were initiated from the Northwest Indian tribes. They are built using symbolic objects from Elements of Nature, Colors, and Geometrical shapes that represent stories, myths, and/or an important event. Virtualization is the most effective way to reduce IT expenses while boosting efficiency and agility for not only large enterprises, but for small and midsize businesses as well. VMware virtualization lets you run multiple operating systems and applications on a single server. The three types of virtualization are server, client (or desktop), storage virtualization. Server virtualization is the partitioning of a physical server into smaller virtual servers to help maximize your server resources. If you are using a host based virtual machine, each user must connect to an individual virtual machine that is hosted in a data center. When using a shared hosted virtual machine, users must connect to either a shared desktop or on individual applications that run on a server. Shared hosted is also known as remote desktop services or terminal services (Rouse, 2015). Storage virtualization is the amalgamation of multiple network storage devices into what appears to be a single storage unit. Servers see the virtualization layer as a single storage device, while the individual storage devices see the virtualization layer as their only server. Doing this makes it easy to group storage systems from devices from different places go into tiers of storage. Storage virtualization that is host based has physical drives that are handled by a device driver, while the software above the driver intercepts I/O requests and looks up metadata and redirects I/O. It can also be a storage device based, which will have a primary controller that handles pooling and manages metadata, allowing the direct attachment of other storage controllers. Network based in storage virtualization uses a Fibre Channel network which connects as a SAN (Kay, 2015). • 8. A True War Story Is Never Moral Analysis Beginning in 1965, the Vietnam War was a nearly decade long conflict in which the United States attempted to halt the inevitable rise of Communism in Southeast Asia. Ultimately resulting in the deaths of 60,000 Americans, the Vietnam War was a massive failure in American history ( Vietnam War Fast Facts ). Domestically, the War sparked controversy and protests across the nation. As chaos ensued in Vietnam, many Americans questioned the moral values of the United States Government. In media, such inquiries quickly became a prominent topic, and films such as The Deer Hunter, directed by Michael Cimino, became major hits. Even years later, the Vietnam War remained a significant focus for many Americans, sparking a Vietnam war veteran, Tim O Brien, to write his war story novel, The Things They Carried. In his book, O Brien thoroughly describes the guidelines of a true war story, with a main point being that, A true war story is never moral (O Brien 76). In his film The Deer Hunter, Michael Cimino asserts Tim O Brien s guideline that war stories are morally indifferent. During the movie, Michael s actions in the Vietnamese village and Nick s death represent the lack of virtue in the war. Reflecting O Brien s guideline stating that, A true war story is never moral, Cimino ensures that the protagonist s actions are not always portrayed as heroic (O Brien 76). One of such scenes occurs when Michael is first depicted in the war. After the destruction of a small Vietnamese ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. A Memorable Moment In My Life I remember this tragedy like it was this morning. My aunt was out of town, so I was staying with my first cousin Andrew. I woke up fairly early for a weekend and had a cup of the best dark roast from Starbucks in my pink and white polka dot coffee cup, along with 2 tablespoons of rich french vanilla creamer. With my coffee, I went to go sit outside to listen to the bird s chirp, get a bit of fresh air and clear my head for the long day ahead of me. In my cousin s backyard, they have a tall fogged glass patio set, sitting upon the rustic wood patio. Sitting in the backyard made me feel as though it was just me and nature herself, so put together, beautiful and calm. It was black Friday and my cousin and I were going to head to my house for our families traditional pierogi making after breakfast. My mother As well as other family members were already waiting there for our arrival. We got into the car and rolled down the windows and started to play our favorite music. Once we got into the car we were sitting there for a moment just on our phones and having a casual conversation. My cousin had mentioned his friend getting into a car accident the month before, and we were positive that we were going to be okay because he was a safe driver, and wanted to get both of us there safely. Andrew soon started to drive on the way to my house, and the gas light turned on. My cousin pulled to the nearest gas station. As we pulled in I got chills all the way from the bottom of my feet ... I can look so far out, it helps me to get all my thoughts out. The water ready to immerse all of me, and I can let it all go. Let the pain go, and all my anger drives the tide trying to pull me away. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control; against such things there is no law (Galatians 5:22 24). I have gradually learned overtime bit by bit some of these fruitful things by being in my ecstasy. • 11. Reflection Of Jesus And The Perfect Life In Nursing As I began to enfold the many great words in this book I began with chapter one. The first key point I came across was learning how Jesus is our model. The book described how Jesus was not just a spirit guiding us through our lives all though he could have been. Jesus walked this earth and lived out a human life. Jesus showed us how to live the perfect life, and I believe this is a major aspect to carry over to the nursing field. Being a Christian nurse inspires us to be the best version of ourselves. As we reflect on the way Jesus lived we should do everything possible to live out a life like him. Jesus lived the perfect life and as Christian nurses we should strive to be like him. The next thing that stood out to me in chapter one was the closing prayer. It states how Jesus gave up heaven to come down here and save us humans. God and Jesus really both gave the ultimate sacrifice. They both gave up so much to help us humans. To relate this to the nursing field is very simple. God and Jesus gave up everything, so I think it our duty as nurses to help and give back. They sacrificed so much, so being a Christian nurse entails us to sacrifice, give back, and help others just like God and Jesus did for us. As I ponder on the questions at the end of chapter I see how much Jesus really did for us. We learned how to live the perfect life from Jesus. I see how much pain and suffering God and Jesus went through to save us as humans. These questions make me realize that being a giver ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Employee Turnover At My Current Company Employee Turnover James Thurkettle Management 317 12/3/14 One of the biggest problems at my current company is that we have a high number of employee turnovers. Some may ask what employee turnover is? How would you define it? Employee turnover is the ratio of the number of workers that had to be replaced in a given time period to the average number of workers. In human resources, turnover or staff turnover is the rate at which an employer loses and gains employees. By using methods that have proven successful for several different companies like improved screening and interview processes and recording the cost from before and after implementation of a plan we can accurately gauge conditions and adapt the plan as necessary to dramatically reduce the effects and causes of employee turnover. Turnover is measured for individual companies and for their industry as a whole. If an employer is said to have a high turnover relative to its competitors, it means that employees of that company have a shorter average time with the company than those of other companies in the same industry. This can be a scary trend as high turnover may be harmful to a company s productivity. This is especially harmful if skilled workers are often leaving and the worker population contains a high percentage of rookie or novice workers. Research and observations show that an experienced employee often has an insight to the details of the processes that make up each individual job and that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are a lot of advancements in technology that make things obviously different, but there are also many changes in our culture and society that has been affected by technological changes that many people fail to realize. One film that showcases the cultural impact of technology is the movie Hackers, directed by Lain Softley. The film is centered around the latest technology available (in 1995 when the film was released) and the growing culture centered around the elite hacker community. The premise of the film is that a group of hackers are being framed for a virus that was launched to capsize ships if a demand for five million dollars was not met. The group of hackers work together to prove that they are innocent by hacking into the database of a major corporation. In that database is the virus that was created by the company s head of cyber security that was supposed to steal a total of twenty five million dollars. The ships that were to be destroyed were all linked through satellite connections. Each ship is automatically guided and managed by a central computer. While it is commonplace for companies today to use satellite guidance systems and remote access to onboard computers, the movie does nudge the story along by making the whole system extremely vulnerable. Despite closeness and similarities, the various nations of the European continent fought bitter wars for thousands of years within themselves. After the devastating World War II, finally everyone saw the light and decided to give a chance to a peaceful coexistence. However, the EU s path has not been smooth. Many critical economic as well as political problems have emerged throughout the last decade, raising questions about its credibility. Two primary questions need to be explored here, 1. What are the most serious challenges in front of the EU at present? 2. How are these problems going to affect the credibility of the EU? In this essay, I argue that the EU has failed, given the controversial issues that arise at present, namely viability of the Euro as a common currency, the Brexit, and the migrant crisis from the Middle East. Euro as a Common Currency The viability of Euro as a common currency here will explicate the financial crisis in the Eurozone countries to prove that the EU has failed. Before World War II, doing trade across borders is difficult. Countries need to pay a fee to exchange currencies, before a tariff fee is then executed when trade between companies of two different countries are involved. This eventually had stifled the economic growth. For this, LatCrit is part of a post modern theory (Wiessner, 1999) because the reality is built for what individuals or social groups make it to be. According to several authors, there are four function of LatCrit: (1) the production of knowledge; (2) the advancement of social transformation; (3) the expansion and connection of antisubordination struggles; and (4) the cultivation of community and coalition, both within and beyond the confines of legal academia in the United States. (Hernandez Truyol, Harris Valdés, 2006, p.183). One of the main ideas in this diverse manner of function is that praxis, theory and community are all united to work with several values in the base. These values are intergroup justice, antisubordination, anti essentialism, multi dimensionality, praxis/solidarity, community building, critical/self critical, ethical, transnational, and interdisciplinary (Bender Valdés, 2010, p. 182). The trouble is that sleep paralysis can be dismissed as no more than a vivid nightmare. Studies have proven that sleep paralysis can happen to anyone and indeed will at some point in their life; however, it is possible that an episode can go unnoticed. Sleep paralysis occurs at one of two times: Hypnagogic sleep paralysis occurs as one falls asleep. Hypnopompic sleep paralysis occurs as one awakes from sleep. In both cases, it is believed to be a result of disrupted REM sleep which routinely induces complete muscle atonia, relaxing and easing the body into a state of voluntary paralysis. This is to prevent sleepers from acting out their dreams, potentially harming themselves in the process. REM sleep disruption insists that the sleeper is having troubling transitioning into various stages of sleep, like a computer failing to process data. Scientists have yet to uncover any empirical evidence that could explain this faulty transition. The paralysis remains, yet the mind is aware. This might explain why many who have experienced this phenomenon feel as though they have woken up in a coffin or grave. Michael Breus, Ph.D., clinical psychologist and fellow at the American Academy of Sleep Medicine helps elaborate: Most patients say the same thing to describe sleep paralysis: that it feels like you woke up dead. • 31. Compare And Contrast Gerty In The Lamplighter True looked at Gerty in perfect wonder and distress. He knew nothing about children, and was astonished at her simplicity. He could not leave her there, such a cold night; but he hardly knew what he could do with her if he took her home, for he lived alone, and was poor. But another violent coughing spell decided him at once to share with her his shelter, fire and food, for one night, at least. So he took her by the hand, saying Come with me; and Gerty ran along confidently by his side, never asking whither. Gerty and True s relationship is one unlike any other in the book The Lamplighter. Gerty went through many torturous foster homes in her life. Her previous foster parents were all despicable. Eventually, Gerty is brought to home with a woman named Nan Grant. The only good thing about this home is that every night a man would come around and light the lamps along the sidewalks. Gerty always looked forward to seeing the lamplighter come by. They first spoke to each other when Gerty came running back to the house with milk and tripped, resulting in the milk spilling everywhere. True, the lamplighter, was taken aback by Gerty s appearance but then said, kindly She won t be hard on such a mite of a thing as you are, will she? Cheer up, my ducky! She uses rhetorical strategies such as repetition of the many negative aspects of child labor through specific examples, criticism of state policies, and emotional appeal. A combination of figures, logic, evidence, and emotional appeal will help convince her audience that child labor is a problem. Kelley utilizes factual information to assert her authority on the subject. Now, therefore, in New Jersey, boys and girls, after their 14th birthday, enjoy the pitiful privilege of working all night long. Kelley s interesting use of the phrase pitiful privilege refers to the child labor laws set by states. These children are allowed to work, to carry the burden of an adult on their shoulders when they reach a certain age. The word pitiful is feeling sorry for someone, while privilege refers to a granted right. Put together, these two words create a different meaning, an oxymoron. The pitiful privilege of these children being allowed to work, but having to work for so long is very problematic. Her effective use of this oxymoron, is criticizing the states, as these rights they give to the children is only hurting them, when it should be helping. • 33. The Issue Of Independence From Britain Once the Americans solved the issue of independence from Britain, they were immediately confronted with another critical issue, what to do with slavery. On one hand, the South zealously supported slavery and the expansion of it. The North, on the other hand, was very much against the survival and expansion of slavery. The conflicting ideology created a problem in the new nation, through which compromises did little to remedy. This gave rise to the development of sectionalism in the states. Throughout the early development of the U.S., the main political crisis, slavery, along with a few other minor crises were bandaged with compromises, but it was not until the Compromise of 1877 that the crises were finally dealt with for good. Political divisions first came about when Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton offered a financial plan in 1790 and 1791. Hamilton s immediate goals were to establish the nation s financial stability, bring to the government s support the country s most powerful financial interests, and encourage economic development. He had a long term goal of making the U.S. a commercial and military power. Hamilton sought to achieve his goals by modeling the U.S. after Great Britain. He also created a five part program. It consisted of creating credit worthiness, creating national debt, a national bank, a tax on producers of whiskey, and the imposition of a tariff and government subsidies to encourage the development of factories that could ... My Last Duchess By Robert Browning Essay My last duchess by Robert Browning Quote Analysis My Last Duchess by Robert Browning is a mysterious monologue about a duke who is showing a portrait of his former wife or last duchess to a visitor at his palace. While showing this portrait of his former wife, the duke begins to demean the duchess character and their life together. Although the duke is very well spoken and chooses his words carefully as he describes the duchess, he ends up reveling more about himself than his last duchess. By doing so, he reveals that she had been a lovely, kindhearted woman, while he himself is cruel, jealous, proud, and arrogant. The first two lines of the poem introduces us to the main topic of the duke speech and gives the reader a hint that there s seems to be something wrong That s my last Duchess painted on the wall, Looking as if she were alive the reader begins to suspect that the duchess is no longer alive. Browning uses clever language in theses lines of the poem to foreshadow that the duke assassinated the duchess, in which later on in the poem the reader realizes that he did so. In lines 45, 46, and 47 the following is written, This grew; I gave commands; then all smiles stopped together. There she stands as if alive The reader comes to the conclusion that the duke assassinated the duchess, illustrating that the duke is a cruel man who will give the command to get ride of whatever disturbs him, in this case the duchess.
