Raymond Carver s Cathedral
A narrator in Cathedral by Raymond Carver is a closed minded man who suffers from prejudice
against blind people. He is detached from himself, as well as from people around him. Among all
themes demonstrated in this story, the most interesting aspect was relationships. In particular, the
author compares the deep connection between two people and martial problems. Carver has made
me to consider mane aspects and values that a family consist of. The narrator is insecure about his
wife s relationship with Robert, and the deep connection between them is a completely
understandable part. He is isolated from his wife, and even her name is not mentioned in the story.
Without support of her husband this woman has developed a strong bond with Robert.

No Discipline by the British Soldiers Created the Boston...
The Boston Massacre
On March 5, 1770, colonists were taunting a British sentry outside the Customs House. This was
common for a day in colonized America. However, this day was more meaningful than any other
before. The British sentry retaliated causing a considerable mob of colonists to get involved. Then
some more British came to aid their comrade. Amid the chaos, the British fired their muskets into
the crowd killing five and injuring three. This would later be referred to as the Boston Massacre. A
lack of discipline by the British Soldiers prompted the Boston Massacre. British presence in
America became increasingly unwelcome during the 1700 s. The regime repeatedly became more
authoritarian and deprived the colonists of their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The guard reciprocated the behavior; an unprofessional and ignorant reaction for a soldier. A
mob of colonists began to come to their fellow American s aid. The other British guards saw this
happening and came to help out their comrade. Captain Thomas Preston was the commanding
officer of the men dispatched to help the guard in front of the house. The crowd was remarkably
rowdy and uncontrollable. No one was sure what to do. The soldiers dispatched to the situation
were unsure of their orders and rules of engagement. All of a sudden, one soldier fires into the
crowd. The rest follow. ( The Boston Massacre ). Samuel Adams cited it as The Boston Massacre
to gain attention. (Danzer 98). There were eight casualties from the Boston Massacre. Crisppus
Attucks, James Caldwell, and Samuel Gray died immediately from the gunshots. Samuel
Maverick and Patrick Carr died shortly after the incident. Christopher Monk was wounded by
the gunfire of British, but died ten years later. Historians disregard Monk as a death of the
Boston Massacre because of this ( Boston Massacre Historical Society ). Much controversy
surrounds the Boston Massacre. No one is sure why or what caused the soldiers to fire into the
crowd. Some people testified that they only saw a mob of people, then the firing of guns. Others
say the British fired without provocation. Multiple testimonies have said that they heard Captain
Thomas Preston give the order to fire. There are some people who said they

5 Themes Of Geography Rio Essay
5 Themes of Geography
By Soren Vogelsang
Location
Rio de Janeiro is a large city located on the coast of southeast Brazil. The exact location of Rio de
Janeiro is 22.9068 S, 43.1729 W. Rio de Janeiro is located about 700 miles southeast of Brasilia, the
capital of Brazil. The seaside city of Rio de Janeiro has an amazing location on the coast of the
Atlantic ocean with lots to do and explore.
Place
Rio de Janeiro is a very interesting place with lots of trees and thick forests including the man
made Tijuca Forest which covers most of Rio. One of Rio s most prized human features is the
massive 98 foot Christ the Redeemer statue atop Mount Corcovado. Copacabana Beach is a
popular beach lined with boardwalks, cafes, and bars there are also many activities including
volleyball, football (soccer), running trails, and weightlifting. Rio de Janeiro offers a tropical
climate near the Tropic of Capricorn and lots of animals including Anteaters, armadillos, sloths, and
monkeys. With Christ the Redeemer, Copacabana beach, and Tijuca... Show more content on

Rio de Janeiro relies greatly on the Amazon river for food, water, and fertile soil to grow crops
for money. The Tijuca Forest is also a positive factor in our environment in that humans have
made a place for wild animals to live, thrive, and grow. Rio also has many bad human
interactions including polluted waterways, super bacteria, poaching, and zika, these are bad
actions by humans that are harming the environment, we can stop these bad interactions with the
environment by having better law enforcement and picking up more trash to make Rio a better
place. Rio has natural interactions too like mudslides and floods, in 2011 a flood attacked Rio
along with mudslides and landslides causing over 1,700 deaths. We have affected Rio and Rio
has affected us but if we help to preserve and keep Rio clean we will have this magnificent city for

My Teaching Experience In Education
Am I a better teacher after working in the classrooms at BSES and KES? Absolutely. Before
student this experience, my teaching strategies were limited to book knowledge and my
experiences of teaching dance and theatre for the past five years. Working within the school setting,
I learned the importance in being flexible. Each time I entered a school, I generally knew what age
student I would be teaching, the progression of skill I planned to teach them, and how much time I
had to complete my lesson plan. What I did not know was how many students I would be
managing, if my students could speak English, what level of physical competency my students
had mastered, or if I would be dealing with any physical or mental impairments. I learned to
think quickly on my feet and to adapt to the class size; for instance, on my last day of teaching, I
had prepared a lesson around using scoops, because I thought my students already knew how to
use them. When I found out they did not know how to use them, I adapted, by changing from the
games I had planned on teaching, to teaching the basics of handling the scoops and practicing over
hand and under hand throws and catching with the scoops. The new skills were easy for some, yet
hard for others; therefore, I adapted exercises to meet the needs of diverse students. For some, I
simplified, and, for others, I made the tasks more difficult. Ultimately, the students enjoyed learning
a new set of skills. Similarly, I learned to be flexible in how I

All My Sons Critical Essay
All my Sons Critical Essay
All my sons written by Arthur Miller is a dramatic play which shows actions and consequences and
morality and studies the theme of idealism verses realism, social responsibility and the American
dream. This play takes place after World War II, in the year 1947. The play shows conflict between
a Father and a son and how quickly a family can fall apart following a serious revelation. Arthur
Miller uses techniques such as characterization, stage directions and a delayed climax to show the
conflict between the different characters throughout the play and to help the audience understand
the main themes indicated throughout the play.

He also doesn t believe life needs to be inspiring. But his son Chris has a contrasting personality.
He is a listener and a loyal man to his family and friends. Chris is very idealistic which one of the
main themes in the play is. He admires his Father and does have a good relationship with him
and one day, would take over the business from him although Chris doesn t particularly want to.
We first see a hint of Joe Keller s personality in the first act when he refuses to read the news
section in the newspaper. We presume he s doing this to avoid all the bad news about the secret
that he is keeping from everyone.
One occurring theme throughout the play would be the American Dream being when one goes
from poor to rich by working hard for it or the Distorted American Dream by doing anything,
primarily bad to become rich and great. We see this mainly in Joe Keller s character, who considers
himself to be a family man and does what is best for his family. Keller sacrifices other parts of
the American Dream for simple economic success. He has given up part of his basic human
decency to have a wealthy and a successful family life. We find out how he did this later on in the
play and why Miller shows his opinions on the stupidity of the American

Summary Of The Book Evicted By Matthew Desmond
SUMMARY:
In Summary New York Times Bestseller book Evicted written by Matthew Desmond tells a story
involving eight families who are trapped in the affordable housing crisis. The book illustrates
true events that take place between 2008 and 2009 in Milwaukee s South Side. Matthew
Desmond s Evicted is unwavering and blunt in portraying poverty in America. It looks at first
hand accounts of real events with real people. The book is narrated in third person, which allows
the characters to tell their own story in their own words. Desmond initially started his research in

people but like the other landlords in the inner city they get some of the largest profits. The
properties are rented out at the same rates as the higher class neighbourhoods, but they don t
have to keep them in good condition, because their tenants are so poor and desperate that they
will take anything. It also helps that they don t reject applications with criminal records which is
most of the black population. Desmond also introduces readers to a number of Sherrena s other
tenants: Lamar, the Vietnam War veteran and father who loves to play cards with the
neighborhood kids; Lamar who lost his leg, not in the war but when he jumped out of a window
while high makes it impossible for him to work so he lives off of his welfare check, which
barely covers the rent. To help Lamar when he falls short, Sherrena often gives him odd jobs like
painting and cleaning to cover the difference; but she doesn t always pay him.
Readers also meet a mother and a grandmother named Doreen Hinkston, she is forced to live
with her four children and three grandchildren in a house across the street form Lamar. Doreen is
described as a mother hen and her children are fun loving people. But because Doreen and her
children face financial hardships, they are depress and listless. Doreen very rarely leaves her house

The Outer Banks Of North Carolina
Out of all the places in the world to visit, one might consider the Outer Banks of North Carolina
with the vast grassy nature preserves to the warm sand between your fingers and toes. A good
place to be with me would be a week at the beach, a place of healing and relaxation. On the beach,
you can live in bliss. There are many beaches all over the world that people enjoy going to for
different reasons; however, the Outer Banks of North Carolina has vibrant beaches where people
can enjoy their vacations at any time of day.
Located about 330 miles south of New York City is the Outer Banks, there is much more to do
than just lay around on one of the many beautiful beaches. The Outer Banks are barrier islands off
the coast of the U.S. state of North Carolina, separating the Atlantic Ocean from the mainland.
Their open sea beaches, state parks and shipwreck diving sites make them a popular holiday
destination. The Outer Banks is a 200 mile long string of narrow peninsulas and barrier islands off
the coast of North Carolina and a small part of Virginia, beginning in the southeastern corner of
Virginia Beach on the east coast of the United States.
Reasons to visit the Outer Banks, in North Carolina would be the gorgeous beach, the wild horses
and the views of the historic lighthouses. In North Carolina, when the fresh breeze in the air hits
you in the early morning, then it s time to start the day. In the morning, the waves are slow and

What Does Betrayal Mean To You Essay
To someone I loved,
There was a point in time when I was hurt. It was emotional so there weren t any physical marks
for evidence. I had been hurt by the words and actions of those close to me. There was a quote I
saw that said, The saddest part about betrayal is that is always comes from the ones you believe
were loyal. That quote lived true for me. Betrayal comes around but only from the ones you thought
were loyal. It s hard for me to trust anyone, but the pain should wear off in the night. By morning, I

Metaphorically speaking, of course. My guard was put down, and I was hit. The cannonball
struck me in the area where many before me had been hurt: my heart. Now I was in disbelief
because I couldn t trust my instincts for an extended period of time. Who was this cannonball?
Well, it was someone who I thought was close to me, someone who I thought wouldn t crush my
heart the way it was shattered. That person was you.
You didn t directly hurt me though. This time it was a matter of games I played in my head. At that
time, I couldn t admit I has fallen in love with you. I was putting an unnecessary weight on my
shoulders. Luckily, that weight didn t kill me. That weight weakened me for sure, but I wasn t
dead yet. Theoretically speaking, I could ve openly admitted to loving you and the weight could ve
been removed.
Instead, I chose to take the more difficult path. That path sent me to sleep every night with a
pounding in my head. Every bang was another denial. I couldn t fall in love. I absolutely couldn t
fall in love. Trying to persuade myself, I continued to say it over and over again. You betrayed me.
Although it was indirect, you still hurt me because I never imagined you for being the cause of the
hammering in my head. You broke my heart without intentionally doing. You broke my heart

One source once stated, Children begin to develop a sense of identity as individuals and as

Parents and grandparents may teach traditions and pass down history because it is what is
important to them. In the short story Everyday Use by Alice Walker, one of the conflicts revolve
around quilts that have been in their family for a while. They had been pieced by Grandma Dee
and the Big Dee and me had hang them on the quilt frames on the porch and quilted them
(Walker 25 26). The quilts are a piece of their past and heritage. In both of them were scraps of
dresses Grandma Dee had worn fifty and more years ago. Bits and pieces of Grandpa Jarrell s
Paisley shirts. And one teeny faded blue piece that was from Great Grandpa Ezra s uniform that
he wore in the Civil War (Walker 26). The quilts make them who they are today by reminding the
family of their roots. In another short story, Two Kinds by Amy Tan, the narrator s mother moved
to America and shaped her daughter s perspective. My mother believed you could be anything you
wanted to be in America (Tan 21). The speaker developed and shared this idea because she got it
from her mother. A person s family teaches the their traditions and customs as they are growing up.

The Distribution of Wealth
Dramatic facts surround the nature of the distribution of wealth becoming more concentrated
during the period between 1983 and 2004. In good parts of the period, labor unions were defeated
and implementation of tax cuts for the rich took place. 42% of the entire financial wealth generated
by the economy of the United Statesduring the 21 year period went to the richest 1%.
The Current Statistical Trends of the Wealth Inequality in the United States Before the onset of
the 2007/2008 global financial crisis, the 10% richest Americans group owned 80% of entire
financial assets in the United States. The top 20% richest Americans possessed 85% of the
nation s wealth meaning the bottom 80% of Americans only owned 15%. At this time, the
richest 1% owned 35% of the total wealth of America. After the great financial recession that
began in the last quarter of 2007, these figures changed dramatically. The portion of American
wealth owned by the 1% richest Americans rose from 35% to 37.2% while that owned by the
20% richest Americans increased from 85% to 87.8%. The global financial crisis led to a drop
of 36% in the middle class wealth but only a decrease of 11% for the top 1% richest people in
the United States. This further widened the gap between the two groups. At the start of the current
decade, about 51% of the American population was in the middle class. This was a 10% drop in
the middle class population from that of the previous 40 years. Compared to a number of developed

Battle Of San Romeo Analysis
Towards the start of the 14th century, a renewed passion for the Greek and Roman classics
emerged, captivating the minds of people and bringing forth a significant intellectual movement
known as Humanism. Humanism drew people towards a more secular view of life, encouraging
them to become more interested in themselves, their own independence, and their own personal
expression, while renewing their admiration for worldly pleasures in the here and now.
Furthermore, Humanismhas been described as a mentality that was caught between medieval
theology and modern day criticism and science, with the Renaissanceman appearing to be caught

Difference Between Tourism And Culture
Tourism and Culture
Tourism is one of the links for an individual to visit the particular country to explore and experience
the cultures different from one s own. Every culture has their own unique culture, by opening doors
for other countries to visit, it allows other people to learn more about the culture and spread the
culture to other people. It also allows the country itself to be aware of other people s cultures and
learn from each other. Allowing globalization and better relationship with other countries. One of
the most common links is the culture between westerners and Asian countries as their cultural
beliefs are different from each other. Asian embraces unity while westerners embrace
individualism. The best time to introduce tourism is before the festival holidays, where people
often wear their traditional clothes and celebrate their festivals according to their traditions. Such
as Chinese celebrate Chinese New Year and give offerings to their gods to request for blessing
and peace for the coming years. This is a perfect opportunity for other tourist to witness this event
to allow maximum exposure experience of the culture. Advertising events through commercials or
magazines are one of the best ways to introduce. In this essay, we will see 2 ... Show more content

1. The values of Inspiratory Capacity (IC), Vital Capacity (VC), Functional Residual Capacity
(FRC), and Total Lung Capacity (TLC) were compared to the values of an Adult Female because
the volunteer in the experiment was female as well. The comparison of values showed that the
volunteer had low values of IC and VC but a much higher value of FRC. Factors contributing to
these differences could be due to the volunteer possibly having a smaller lung capacity and lung
size compared to the average female therefore causing the results, or the volunteer did not expire
all the air possible from the lungs and caused skewed results considering the total lung capacity was

Summary Of Chapter 7 Siddhartha
Chapter 7 Samsara
1. Siddhartha had killed his senses during his samana years which were awakened after meeting
Kamala. His life was always directed by thinking and fasting during samana years and the
ordinary people of the world were alien to him just as he was apart from them. The value of
Siddhartha s Samsara years is that he learns how to build relationships with others.
2. Siddhartha is affected by the life of rich men as he had learnt how to transact business affairs, to
exercise power over people, to amuse himself with women; he had learned to wear fine clothes and
to command servants. Yes, I think that wealth inevitably brings the problems of discontent, of

Your Vice Research Paper
When I first started watching Your Vice Is a Locked Room and Only I Have the Key (epic

starts off pretty damn weird, with a bunch of hippies dancing around, singing and a guy abusing his
wife. All scenes which really don t connect. However, as the movie gets going, the filmstarts to gel
together and by the end, I was hooked big time. I loved how this movie ended, just absolutely
loved it. I, of course, won t spoil it for you, but I will go into details on a few things in my review

Your Vice does do a better job at adapting the story a little more closely, with a few twists and
turns along the way, which I loved. Some of the plot points are a little out there and placed in there
just to confuse you and make you think one thing is happening when actually something else
entirely is taking place. It actually works once the films end credits roll around, so you just got to
stick with the flick to have everything figured out.
I do want to mention how much sexuality is coursing through this movie s veins. There are
copious amounts of nudity, lesbian love scenes and a tiny dash of incest. Edwige Fenech, who
plays Floriana is basically in the movie to seduce every single person and boy, does she do an
amazing job at it. I can t blame anyone for wanting to sleep with her, as she emits raw sexual
energy whenever she is on screen.
I wish I go could into more detail with Your Vice, but mentioning anything specific would ruin the
experience and that would be a damn shame with this movie. Besides a shaky beginning and some
random scenes that make no sense, Your Vice works to tell a fantastic, twisty tale that does justice

The And Newly Emerging Storm Water Treatment Technologies...
In this research report, a technical comparison is made and analysed between the current and newly
emerging storm water treatment technologies. Report indicated the following: (a) soil disturbance
increased the TSS and turbidity in the runoff; (b) correlations were observed between TSS and
particulate runoff concentrations of chromium, copper, and zinc, indicating that solids removal
may reduce total metals concentrations; and (c) The strong necessity to switch for new innovative
techniques of treating storm water. The first concern when investigating innovative treatment
methods is determining the needed level of storm water control. Specific treatment goals usually
specify about 90% reductions in suspended solids concentrations. In most storm waters, this would
require the removal of most particulates greater than about 10 Ојm in diameter, which is about 1%
of the 1 mm size to prevent sewerage deposition problems. Numerous manufacturers have developed
proprietary devices to treat storm water runoff. These devices have been designed to treat one or
more of the common storm water pollutants solids, metals, oil and grease, nutrients and bacteria.
Research has shown that combining new treatment technologies provides the best overall treatment

The scent of lavender had several beneficial properties when performing aromatherapy. When

Quetzalcoatl s Influence On The Aztecs

The Man With Talent Essay Essay
The Man with Talent
So many Coaches have talent and dedication for what they do. I m proud to play for one that has a
spectacular history of coaching. That coach is Dennis Lorio. Graduated from LSU (Louisiana State
University) with an economic degree and played baseball. I love the intensity and the relationship
in football Coach Lorio explaining with a passionate expression. I can see it in his eyes that he is
very dedicated and hardworking coach. As of now he is 62 years old and still willing to coach. It s
not the same without coaching. The joy and the sorrow I feel during the season has been addicted to
me. I ve been in this game almost all my life and that is a very long time.
From the article of Sports Nola, Nick Kreugar wrote about Dennis Lorio:
He was offensive coordinator at East St. John for the past two years, but resigned for family
reasons last October. He is well known for his time at Thibodaux and led them to the inaugural 5A
state championship in 1991. Lorio also spent time as LSU offensive line coach from 1992 94 and
returned to Thibodaux in 2008 leading the Tigers to a 27 12 record with 5A state quarterfinal
playoff runs in 2008 and 2009. He has a career coaching record of 105 70. (Sports Nola par. 2)

This essay is about the Duke Vincentio in Measure for...
The character of the Duke is portrayed by Shakespeare as a very complex, hypocritical and
contradictory character. To many critics, he is conveyed as a Machiavellian Prince, using others
for his own political ends, and to some critics, a God like figure, testing the pathology of power in
Vienna. Despite these two polar opposites the character is nethertheless a character of ambivalence.
Contradiction is one of the main themes of the play, as is appearance versus reality, law versus
grace and justice versus mercy. The Duke never lets go of the puppet strings, pulling events and
manipulating other characters in the play. Vincentio s motives for influencing the events are
controversial; it has been argued that the Duke enjoys watching others... Show more content on

Angelo doesn t want to be married and neither does Lucio. Therefore the Duke uses marriage as a
punishment instead of death. He commands Angelo with the imperative look that you love your
wife and tells the provost to proclaim it? around the city that any woman disvalued by Lucio should
come forward.
In marrying both Lucio and Angelo, he is committing them to a life of misery, far worse than
being executed, and also humiliating and disgracing them. Neither of the marriages are likely to
last long, and justice is only done for Mariana in terms of law, not in terms of love. Mariana is
given what she wants, but the marriage will inevitably fail. Kate Keepdown is also done justice in
terms of law, but may not want to be married, as she will no longer be able to continue being a
prostitute.
Also, this is not really fair for Lucio, no one else had been charged for fornication with a
prostitute, and the only reason Lucio is being judged so severely is because he slandered the Duke.
Lucio called the Duke a very superficial, ignorant, unweighing fellow and also told the Friar that
his [the Duke] use was, to put a ducat in her clack dish... he would be drunk too . This creates
dramatic irony as the Duke is actually the Friar in disguise. A ducat in her clack dish is a
euphemism for being with prostitutes. The Duke s response to this is shown in his monologue in

Group s Decision Making Process
Group Reflection Paper
Group projects challenge students to not only accomplish a more difficult task, but accomplish
it while working in groups. For this particular video project, I learned about my leadership style
and the importance of enthusiasm when working in groups. Later in this paper, I will reflect my
group s decision making process, dynamics, strengths, and flaws. The decision making process
went hand and hand with the dynamic of the group. Decisions were made by receiving input
from others, which sometimes worked better than others. I found myself seeking approval from
my fellow group members before moving forward. Since my group worked together
harmoniously, this was never a problem; however, I suspect some of the harmony came from
people simply wanting to go along to get along. If at any point we disagreed, usually the problem
was we had too many good ideas to choose from, not because someone chose to be stubborn. Even
so, after discussing which idea worked best for our project, we d go with the majority vote.
Everyone remained civil, and expressed appreciation toward all ideas shared. Collaboration
worked in our favor when making decisions. I acted like the spokesperson in my group.
Typically, I would ask the group what our goals were for meetings, when future meetings would
be, and how to proceed after accomplishing small tasks. As I mentioned earlier, we made decisions
as a group, but I found I addressed the problems or conflicts to the group. Keeping my

The Role Of Power For Private Gain As Defined By The...
Background: Corruption is the use of entrusted power for private gain as defined by the United
Nations Development Programme (UNDP 2008). This research studies the effects and
consequences of corruption in the Nigeria health care system. Like other sectors in Nigeria, the
health sector is not immune from corruption and this is because of the high demand for health care
services which has enormously created opportunity for individuals in health care delivery to
manipulate the system to their own advantages at the expense of the general public or consumers.
The gap that this has created has made it difficult for targets and health care priorities to be met due

Health care delivery corruption in Nigeria prevails because there is no compliance to the rule of
law, the administrative system in Nigeria lacks transparency and trust, also the public sector which
could have acted as a check and balance is ruled by ineffective civil service codes and weak
accountability methods (Husmann, K. 2011).
Causes/Manifestations: Nigeria health system information is asymmetrical in nature and is
susceptible to corruption because large numbers of care givers see this as an opportunity to
create systemic hindrances and therefore discourage transparency and accountability. It was even
argued that consumers not only suffer the consequences of the infected system but also help to
encourage the corrupt system, it was reported that some patients believed that one cannot obtain
high quality health care unless one is socially or relatively connected to a health care worker, if
not, one has to pay a bribe as an incentive to receive health care from caregivers that are trained and
paid for the job. This has created a social norm in which bribing is deemed to be legitimate
(Adegboyega et al 2012).
Another cause of this social norm is uncertainty regarding real projection of who will fall ill and to
allocate geographically types of illness associated to a region. This makes it difficult to allocate

Sweatshops are factories that are used around the world that major brand companies use to make
products. These factories have gained media attention and controversy for the long hours and low
pay given to the workers. Many people say to boycott these factories because of the latter reasons,
but consumers shouldn t boycott companies that make sweatshopproducts. The first reason
consumers shouldn t boycott these products would be people actually deliberately take these jobs
because in developing countries most jobs don t pay that much. The second reason consumers
shouldn t boycott sweatshop products would be that it allows a lot of people in the developing

Blame Home Inspector Essay
Points to Consider Before You Blame the Home Inspector
When you are hunting for a home, hiring a home inspector is critical. Home inspections provide
important information for home buyers. However, many property owners are somewhat misguided
in terms of what they should expect from a home inspector. Before you blame your inspector for a
perceived oversight, you may want to explore the topic a bit further.
The Current State of a Property
It is important to remember that when an inspector examines a home, only the current state of the
home can truly be assessed. It is not possible to view a home and suddenly be aware of all of the
problems that may have been addressed in the past. Additionally, even the most astute professional
cannot be expected to predict the issues that could manifest in the future. Unfortunately, numerous
property buyers have unrealistic expectations when using inspectors.
Code Determination
Another fallacy that some homeowners believe is that their inspectors will assess the code
qualifications of their homes. This can lead to confusion, frustration, and blame on the part of a
property owner. If you have recently purchased a home after having it inspected, you should ...

around four main characters: Othello, a Moorish general in the Venetian army; his wife, Desdemona,
his lieutenant Cassio and his trusted ensign, Iago. I found Othello to be a great story, play and

image that I read in the play. In the play, Iago has to be two faced all the time. He shows one side
of him to one person, and another side to another. In the film, Iago works very hard to keep up
his appearance with all the different characters. No character sees more than one side of him,
and his plots are kept to himself. I think the role of Iago was a tough one to play because of the
ability to make people truly believe how convening he was, but Branagh did a great job. I also
noticed that when Othello was speaking, his facial reactions would visibly change when
Othello looked the other way. It was incredible how quickly the change from an evil expression
to a loving and loyal expression was made. In one scene, Iago and Othello are hugging, and Iago

thought the movie brought more of the emotions out in me. I could actually see the facial reactions

Balance In The Oresteia
Through the three plays of The Oresteia, we are exposed to many opposing forces of power.
Elements such as darkness, light, fate, patriarchy, and justice are intertwined to make up
Aeschylus tragic tale, however all of these elements are directed by one central force: balance.
The word balance itself suggests a state of equilibrium or a stable environment. Balance is often
looked at as a scale; if one side of the scale is overpowering the other, then it creates a state of
disorder, irregularity, and even chaos. Aeschylus meddles with the scales of balance but, in the end,
reinforces the equipoise of power. I would argue that, not only does The Oresteiainclude balance as
a critical underlying theme and is strategically used in determining the outcome of the play, but
that the role of Athena is vital in creating this balance. In this play, there are many cases in which
the word balance can be substituted for the word justice. The final play, The Eumenides, is
significantly based on the idea of balance. Aeschylus puts it as justice waits and turns the scales
(line 61), meaning that justice is purposeful, and is one of the components that forces the balance
within the play. By analyzing the reference to the tipping of the scales, we can assume a reversal
of fortune and what is fated to happen. With the trial being the main plotline of the last play, it
reveals the scales tipping towards justice and leaves us with a sense of harmony. The two sides of
justice are seen

Sonnets In Shakespeare s Sonnets
Sonnets are known for its rigid format and being the hoard of poets flowery love confessions and
tormenting heartache. While most poets generally stick to that cliche topic of love and the
traditional English or Petrarchan structures, sonnets are not defined by these archetypal features.
Both Shakespeare s My mistress eyes are... and Collins s Sonnetsatirically defy those typical
sonnets. However both poems differ, as Shakespeare follows the standard English sonnet style and
parodies the classic subject of love to show how ridiculous and idealistic love sonnets can be; while
Collins on the other hand, breaks free from those stern sonnet rules to joke about the strictness of
sonnet structures to define typical sonnet rules.
Shakespeare follows the English style of sonnets, while Collins partially follows the Petrarchan
style. Both sonnets include fourteen lines, a defining feature of the sonnet form. My mistress eyes
are... consists of three quatrains that describes his argument on love cliches, and ends with a
couplet, the turning point of English sonnets. The sonnet consists of ten syllables each line,
adhering to the rhythm of the iambic pentameter rule. Shakespeare s sonnet follows the usual rhyme
scheme of an English sonnet: abab cdcd efef gg. Conversely, Collins attempts to stray from the
general sonnet principles in contrast with Shakespeare. Sonnet loosely follows the Petrarchan style,
as the lines are grouped into one octave, a stanza of eight lines, and one sestet, a stanza of six lines,
in structure. Collins s Sonnet does not have a rhyme scheme, nor does the poem follow iambic
pentameter. His sonnet does, however, present his turn in the beginning of the sestet, a recurrent
feature of a Petrarchan sonnet. Collins begins poking fun at English sonnets in the octave, but then
turns to joke at Petrarchan forms. Both sonnets have a lighthearted, humorous tone, yet the poems
parody the classic styles of sonnets in different ways.
Shakespeare expresses his love for his mistress through metaphors, typical of sonnets about love.
However, those comparisons describe his poor mistress through unpleasant ways, in distinct to
typical love sonnets. Poets usually describe the beauty of their lover through

An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge Summary
Piecing Together the Creation of An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge
Literature is often impacted by the experiences the author has had and the time period in which it
was written. The Civil War era affected works that were created during that time. The story An
Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge by Ambrose Bierce exhibits this influence as it is written with the
aid of the experiences he had during the war when he was enlisted. Although some claim certain
events in Bierce s life never affected him, others suggest that Bierce may have incorporated them
into his writings. The story An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge was greatly influenced by Bierce s

Northern American states were conflicted by Southern American states over the concept of
slavery. The North was industrialized, using machinery to rapidly produce products at a cheaper
price. Factories decreased the need for slavery, as machines could work at a more effective rate.
Thus the northern economy of America was generally based on manufacturing. In the Southern
states plantation farming was still in favor as opposed to large industrialized factories,
influencing the use of slavery. People were needed to work the fields so slavery still remained
very popular in the South, even as the concept of slavery was diminishing in the North. As the
United States was expanding, the North was pushing laws to make slave owning illegal, but the
South argued that such an act was unconstitutional ( Civil War Era ). This disagreement between

Non-Adherence To Organ Transplantation
Background
Organ transplantation is a surgical procedure of replacing a failing or diseased organ with a
healthier donor organ. In 2011, nearly 80% of 4500 Canadians needing an organ transplant are
waiting for a donor. Of which, 35% died while waiting for an organ. In 2014, 2356 organs were
transplanted and over 4500 patients were still waiting for the donor. The statistics prove that organ
transplantation is critical and the transplanted organ must stay healthy for the rest of the recipient s
life. The immune system of the transplant patient can recognize the antigens on the transplant organ
as foreign bodies and attacks. To prevent this reaction, transplant patients are prescribed
immunosuppressive drugs. Organ rejection is crucial because ... Show more content on

Example 2: Nelfinavir PLGA NPs were prepared by nanoprecipitation method. Drug:polymer

were measured. Among the drug:polymer weight ratios prepared, 1:4 ratio was chosen as optimal.
NPs found to exhibit sustained drug release up to 24 h and there was a 4.94 fold increase in
relative bioavailability compared to pure drug (Venkatesh et al. 2015). Some of the key
characteristics of PLGA loaded NPs are as follows. NPs prepared with PLGA are known for high
encapsulation efficiency but drug loading is comparatively low which might be a problem with
certain drugs (Mirakabad et al. 2014). Delivery of a pH sensitive drug might not be feasible as
degradation of PLGA forms acids. In the case of oral PLGA NPs drug absorption takes place via M
cells present on the Peyer s patches and isolated follicles of GALT there by avoiding first pass
metabolism (Jain et al. 2011). The surface charge of PLGA NPs is negative which may reduce the
bioavailability as they repel GI mucosal membrane (Zhang et al.

Mohler s Argument Analysis
While reading Mohler s article, I was intrigued by his view concerning authority. In today s society
the term has become seemingly negative or possibly offensive. This interesting viewpoint caused
me to wonder why the current generations view authority this way. It is possible that it is not
viewed negatively because it is a bad position. Instead, it is possible that the view stems from many
who have abused this position both in secular and religious realms. However, it is most intriguing
to apply this mindset toward preaching.
I agree with Mohler s opinion. It is important that it is never taken lightly and always done
intentionally. The Word of God must be demonstrated as authorityand not merely as a suggestion.

Griswold v. Connecticut
The first Supreme Court case that I listened to was one brought forth in front of the Warren Court
in 1965. The case of Griswold v. Connecticut is a very significant case regarding contraceptive use,
counsel and advice with married couples. The case later played a great reference in the
Constitutional rights for abortion. The Griswold v. Connecticut case went in front of the Supreme
Court in March and was passed a few months later in June by a vote of 7 2 in favor of Griswold.
Griswold was the Executive Director of a Planned Parenthood Clinic in Connecticut. The State of
Connecticut charged her and her Medical Director, Dr. Buxton, for giving advice and medical...

The statutes were being challenged on the due process clause under the Fourteenth Amendment and
the First Amendment regarding the Freedom of Speech. At the time of this case it was illegal to
sale or prescribe contraceptives for the prevention of pregnancy, but not for the prevention of
disease.
At the beginning of the oral argument the appellant s lawyer, Thomas I. Emerson was asked if the
case was an equal opportunity case. He verbally stumbled and was delayed with his response to
the Judges. The Judges asked several times why it was not being argued as an equal opportunity
case due to the distinction that only married women received treatment and counsel from the
Planned Parenthood Clinic. His only response was that was not the issue of this case.
Emerson stated the history of the case in order to paint his picture to the Judges. Mrs. Griswold
did not have a medical license, but was allowed to work under the umbrella of the clinic s
Medical Director, Dr. Buxton. The clinic was only open for ten days when the two appellants were
arrested and charged for the counsel and distribution of contraceptives to married women, at which
time the clinic was forced to close. Three of the married women that received treatment and counsel
provided by the clinic were fined and later testified against

Analysis Of Ihara Saikaku s Life Of A Sensuous Woman, And...
In Ihara Saikaku s story, Life of a Sensuous Woman, and Mary Wollstonecraft s work, Vindication
of the Rights of Woman , the issue of double standards in gender are examined. Both pieces offer
a perspective into the lives of women during their respective times and show how some standards
that are considered favorable for men, are looked down upon for women. In particular, the two
works examine how women were treated differently based on their education, their social status
and even their sexual history. Saikaku looks at these issues in a different lens from Wollstonecraft,
based on his experiences as a man living in Japan in the 17th century. Their experiences shape their
works and show how the issue of double standards of genderspan culture, time and geography.
In Wollstonecraft s work, she addresses the differences between men and women as being
something that should be considered negligible, but instead is used to practically enslave one half
of the population. The work details how women are akin to playthings when they lack an
education, and that for her to truly be herself and practice her own free will, she must be
knowledgeable. However, there are many different kinds of education, Wollstonecraft points out.
Men received a formal education, consisting of a proper teaching of many subjects, while also
aiding the young men in personal growth. Women, on the other hand, received a much less formal
education. In their day to day lives, women observed, they leeched off

The Hockey Sweater Essay
The Quebec Vexation
The French speaking people of Quebec lived under heavy oppression in the 1950s and 60s.
Many francophone people looking for work in Quebec cities were refused because of their French
background. In areas such as Montreal, the francophone people were earning up to 50 percent less
than their English speaking peers. There was a clear distinction between the quality of life for the
English and the quality of life for the French. It was because of this distinction that the people of
Quebec often resented the English and their ways of life. And it is from this resentment, the story
The Hockey Sweater was written. The Hockey Sweater is a story told from the perspective of a
young boy living in a small town in Quebec. He, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Quebecois found that their cultures were too different to be placed on equal footing with the
other provinces. This frustration with the other provinces eventually led to The Quiet Revolution
and an attempt to separate from the rest of Canada. Up until the end of the 1960s, the French
people of Quebec could be seen living as second rate citizens in Canada. It wasn t until 1969, that
the Official Languages Act was passed by Pierre Elliot Trudeau giving both the English and
French languages equal representation in Canadian parliament. Up until then, most documents
written by the Canadian government and its affiliates were solely in English and did not
recognize French as an official language. In The Hockey Sweater, the character of Mr. Eaton can
be equated to the role of the Canadian government. The order forms provided in the Eaton s
catalogue were completely in English even though they were being shipped to a small French
town in Quebec. This could be seen as the English speaking people of Canada imposing their
language and culture upon Quebec in an almost assimilation like manner. The lack of equality
with regards to the French and English language pre 1969 led to many people of Quebec feeling
subservient to the rest of Canada. The language issue played a vital role in the story of The
Hockey Sweater which led to great turmoil just as it did with Quebec s culture during the

Renewable Energy In America
Fuel price seems to be the subject that always makes headlines on a regular basis. The United
States is the biggest consumer of energy in the world. Lucas Davis, a Berkeley Professor
conducted a study in 2013 on global oil consumption and found that the average American
consumes more than 300 gallons of gasolineannually. The amount is at least 200 gallons more than
other developed countries such as Germany, and France. (Davis, 2013) The high consumption
forces Americans to rely on foreign fuel sources since domestic energy is simply not enough to
satisfy the thirst. Rising fuel price coupled with fuel shortage scare are often a common concern for
every American, thus there needs to be an invention to stretch the supply in case of disaster.... Show

Ethanol did not become such a staple addition to gasoline until the 1970s due to fuel shortage
scare. Its use became even more prevalent in the early 2000s with the increase in global warming
awareness. The Renewable Fuels Association reports that the United States alone produced over
15 billion gallons of ethanol, a 14 billion gallons increase from its production in 1999 (Industry
Statistics, 2017). While ethanol is a clean energy when use, however, its production is not quite as
clean clean as it appears to be. Ethanol is considered renewable since the heartland of the United
States grows so much corn annually to supply the plant. The corn growing process is quite
damaging to the environment. Farming equipment runs on diesel fuel, which directly contributes to
the greenhouse gas production. The use of fertilizer and insect repellent chemical is harmful to soil
and atmosphere. The transportation of crops relies heavily on semi tractors that still heavily rely on
fossil fuel, thus exacerbate the problem. Not to mention that ethanol plants require electricity
primarily generated by coal fired power plants since it is much more efficient and a lot cheaper. All
these factors contribute to the global warming problem, the very problem that ethanol is supposed to

Why Do People Travel Essay
First, I just want you to ask yourself a little and simple question. Why do you travel? Have you
answered it? I sincerely want you to answer it before I do so, that will help you understand with
more ease. The first one I thought of was to learn. Many people, in fact, love to travel to get to
know a country s culture, food, language and landmarks. This will help people be more culturally
diverse, open minded and usually more balanced people. The second reason I thought of was to
have an adventure. Naturally, some people are more adventurous than others so they prefer doing
something they have never done before. For instance, people who live near the ocean have the
tendency to visit more mountainous places so they can have new experiences and do more radical
activities. Another obvious reason is to spend some quality timewith your family. Nowadays people
work during most of their days and go back home already tired, meaning they have less time for
their families and people they love than before. Thus, they often go for a journey together during
holidays and sometimes even weekends. The final reason I have got is quite different... Show more

to spend time with people you like and to work. My trip to Granada can apply to all four reasons.
It was a school trip, where I learned and adventured myself whilst I spent time with people I like,
my friends. This trip was a change from what I am used to in every way. Change is a key word
here because that is what we mainly seek through traveling. A change from our routines, to get
away from the weather, work and culture we are used to. By simply changing, I was able to avoid,
not forget, the strains and stresses of my everyday life and, thus, we have more positive feelings.
That is why we travel; we release ourselves from what saddens us and focus on what we are doing

The Pros and Cons of Ethanol Essay
A large part of the alternative fuels boom has been a part of civilization for thousands of years:
ethanol. The same substance that makes alcoholic beverages intoxicating is also a useful fuel.
Ethanol s potential as a motor fuel has been known since the first internal combustion engines
were made; The Ford Model T was able to run on gasoline, ethanol or any mix of the two
(Bettelheim 802). As the use of automobiles grew from the 1900 s to the 1920 s, it was found that
petroleum was a cheaper fuel source than ethanol (Bettelheim 802). Ethanol was mixed with
gasoline to improve the fuel s octane rating until the 1920 s, when oil companies stopped using it
because fear of being labeled as bootleggers. Ethanol had a brief resurgence... Show more content

The 2007 Energy Act also adds a requirement that a portion of the RFS is met with biofuels other
than ethanol from corn starch. The amount mandated for 2006 is four billion gallons of corn
ethanol, and this will gradually expand to thirty six billion gallons in 2022, of which twenty one
billion gallons must be from sources other than corn starch (19). To provide a basis for
comparison, in 2004 about 136 billion gallons of gasoline were consumed in the US and about
two billion gallons of ethanol (Yacobucci 8). Ethanol is mainly consumed in two forms in the
US. Most ethanol sold in the US is in a mix of 10% ethanol and 90% gasoline called E10
(Yacobucci 8). Any car is able to run on this, and it is currently being sold in much of the
country. The ethanol works as an additive to help the gasoline burn more cleanly, improves
performance, and provides energy as a fuel. The other less common form is E85, which contains
85% ethanol and 15% gasoline. Modern cars must be specially designed to run on E85. Many
newer models of cars are designed as such, and these are called flex fuel vehicles. There are two
common methods to make ethanol from corn (Rendleman 6). They mostly differ in the way that
the corn is prepared. The first step is to grind the corn. In wet milling, the starch containing kernels
of corn are separated from the other parts before grinding, since the starch is the only part of the
corn that will convert to ethanol

High School Dropout
On average, 1.2 million students drop out of high school every year, this breaks down to 7,000
students giving up their education everyday. The community should make an effort to helps
students stay in school and promote racial equality. Promoting racial equality will help because
studies show racism leads to an increase in dropouts. Students dropoutfor numerous reasons and the
average high schooldropout ends up less successful than a graduate. There are actions that can be
taken to prevent high school dropouts. The issue of high school dropouts continues to grow as
dropout rates continue to increase.
Some people argue that if a student wants to drop out, it is their personal choice. They choose to
hurt their educational life, therefore society as a whole should not waste their time and energy
attempting to help and prevent dropouts. Although sure enough, the people can not put an
absolute end to high school dropouts but they should help who they can not. Another reason it is
important to help dropouts is because high school dropouts do not only affect themselves, but
they affect the rest of the country as well (Williams 14). A specific region or areas drop out rates
play a role on the area s overall prosperity, for areas with lower dropout rates have less criminal
activity (Oreopoulos). By putting in effort to prevent students from dropping out an individual is
helping his or her neighbours. It is also said that high school dropouts cause a loss of national

America And The American Dream
Land of Opportunity, Home of the Brave, and Land of the Free often come to mind when
envisioning the United States for most individuals around the world. Through the media, America
and the American Dream is depicted as the salvation for poverty, sorrow, and hardship. The
Founding Fathers invented the American Dream, offering life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Unfortunately, an abundance of immigrants were falling short of possessing the American Dream
and slowly began to realize that these alluring portrayals were merely a facade. Wealthy and
influential corporations needed to revitalize the American Dream before it would dissolve amongst
the masses. In order to keep American deception ongoing, a new American Dream was
implemented into society. This time, it was not affecting individuals careers and lifestyles, it was
affecting their identity and their consumerist behavior. The American Dream embodies the
accessibility of opportunities, the longing for social acceptance, and the yearn for economic
acquisition (awk). Consumerismharvests this elusive dream by perpetuating an ideology of an
empty identity through media marketing, corporate imperialism, and the limitless consumption of
brands that construct identity. American colonization sprouts from greed and the desire to possess
a greater need. As a result, this imperialistic mindset has transformed into consumerism through
abrasive expansion of many large corporations. In Bruce Forbes s Mickey Mouse

Job Satisfaction Is Defined As The Positive Feeling Felt...
Job Satisfaction
Job Satisfaction is defined as the positive feeling felt by an individual about a job which results
from and evaluation of the job s characteristics (Robbins Judge, 2013). With an understanding of
job satisfaction we will look at and describe the issues of three individuals and their three different
jobs. Describing their job satisfactions, dislikes, and how all this relates to their performances on
the job.
The three different jobs that are presented for consideration of job satisfaction are an accountant
position where Maria works, a Quality Control Manager for an insurance company, and this is
where Darell works, and finally we have a Retail Store Manager for an outdoor company where
Mike works. All three of these jobs have characteristics that can contribute to increased levels of
job satisfaction. All three of these jobs offer plenty of hours of work. This can lead to job stability
and increase the affective commitment that a person might have toward a job (Milligan, 2014).
Maria s job as an accountant gives her job satisfaction because she has intellectual abilities that
allow her to do mental thinking and reasoning. It could also be presumed that the Quality Control
Manager and the Retail Store Manager have the same intellectual abilities. For the Quality Control
Manager position the opportunity to travel all over the United States could produce job satisfaction.
Finally the position of the retail manager that Mike possesses gives job satisfaction

  • 2. Raymond Carver s Cathedral A narrator in Cathedral by Raymond Carver is a closed minded man who suffers from prejudice against blind people. He is detached from himself, as well as from people around him. Among all themes demonstrated in this story, the most interesting aspect was relationships. In particular, the author compares the deep connection between two people and martial problems. Carver has made me to consider mane aspects and values that a family consist of. The narrator is insecure about his wife s relationship with Robert, and the deep connection between them is a completely understandable part. He is isolated from his wife, and even her name is not mentioned in the story. Without support of her husband this woman has developed a strong bond with Robert. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. No Discipline by the British Soldiers Created the Boston... The Boston Massacre On March 5, 1770, colonists were taunting a British sentry outside the Customs House. This was common for a day in colonized America. However, this day was more meaningful than any other before. The British sentry retaliated causing a considerable mob of colonists to get involved. Then some more British came to aid their comrade. Amid the chaos, the British fired their muskets into the crowd killing five and injuring three. This would later be referred to as the Boston Massacre. A lack of discipline by the British Soldiers prompted the Boston Massacre. British presence in America became increasingly unwelcome during the 1700 s. The regime repeatedly became more authoritarian and deprived the colonists of their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The guard reciprocated the behavior; an unprofessional and ignorant reaction for a soldier. A mob of colonists began to come to their fellow American s aid. The other British guards saw this happening and came to help out their comrade. Captain Thomas Preston was the commanding officer of the men dispatched to help the guard in front of the house. The crowd was remarkably rowdy and uncontrollable. No one was sure what to do. The soldiers dispatched to the situation were unsure of their orders and rules of engagement. All of a sudden, one soldier fires into the crowd. The rest follow. ( The Boston Massacre ). Samuel Adams cited it as The Boston Massacre to gain attention. (Danzer 98). There were eight casualties from the Boston Massacre. Crisppus Attucks, James Caldwell, and Samuel Gray died immediately from the gunshots. Samuel Maverick and Patrick Carr died shortly after the incident. Christopher Monk was wounded by the gunfire of British, but died ten years later. Historians disregard Monk as a death of the Boston Massacre because of this ( Boston Massacre Historical Society ). Much controversy surrounds the Boston Massacre. No one is sure why or what caused the soldiers to fire into the crowd. Some people testified that they only saw a mob of people, then the firing of guns. Others say the British fired without provocation. Multiple testimonies have said that they heard Captain Thomas Preston give the order to fire. There are some people who said they ... • 5. My Teaching Experience In Education Am I a better teacher after working in the classrooms at BSES and KES? Absolutely. Before student this experience, my teaching strategies were limited to book knowledge and my experiences of teaching dance and theatre for the past five years. Working within the school setting, I learned the importance in being flexible. Each time I entered a school, I generally knew what age student I would be teaching, the progression of skill I planned to teach them, and how much time I had to complete my lesson plan. What I did not know was how many students I would be managing, if my students could speak English, what level of physical competency my students had mastered, or if I would be dealing with any physical or mental impairments. I learned to think quickly on my feet and to adapt to the class size; for instance, on my last day of teaching, I had prepared a lesson around using scoops, because I thought my students already knew how to use them. When I found out they did not know how to use them, I adapted, by changing from the games I had planned on teaching, to teaching the basics of handling the scoops and practicing over hand and under hand throws and catching with the scoops. The new skills were easy for some, yet hard for others; therefore, I adapted exercises to meet the needs of diverse students. For some, I simplified, and, for others, I made the tasks more difficult. Ultimately, the students enjoyed learning a new set of skills. Similarly, I learned to be flexible in how I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He admires his Father and does have a good relationship with him and one day, would take over the business from him although Chris doesn t particularly want to. We first see a hint of Joe Keller s personality in the first act when he refuses to read the news section in the newspaper. We presume he s doing this to avoid all the bad news about the secret that he is keeping from everyone. One occurring theme throughout the play would be the American Dream being when one goes from poor to rich by working hard for it or the Distorted American Dream by doing anything, primarily bad to become rich and great. We see this mainly in Joe Keller s character, who considers himself to be a family man and does what is best for his family. Keller sacrifices other parts of the American Dream for simple economic success. He has given up part of his basic human decency to have a wealthy and a successful family life. Who was this cannonball? Well, it was someone who I thought was close to me, someone who I thought wouldn t crush my heart the way it was shattered. That person was you. You didn t directly hurt me though. This time it was a matter of games I played in my head. At that time, I couldn t admit I has fallen in love with you. I was putting an unnecessary weight on my shoulders. Luckily, that weight didn t kill me. That weight weakened me for sure, but I wasn t dead yet. Theoretically speaking, I could ve openly admitted to loving you and the weight could ve been removed. Instead, I chose to take the more difficult path. That path sent me to sleep every night with a pounding in my head. Every bang was another denial. I couldn t fall in love. I absolutely couldn t fall in love. In good parts of the period, labor unions were defeated and implementation of tax cuts for the rich took place. 42% of the entire financial wealth generated by the economy of the United Statesduring the 21 year period went to the richest 1%. The Current Statistical Trends of the Wealth Inequality in the United States Before the onset of the 2007/2008 global financial crisis, the 10% richest Americans group owned 80% of entire financial assets in the United States. The top 20% richest Americans possessed 85% of the nation s wealth meaning the bottom 80% of Americans only owned 15%. At this time, the richest 1% owned 35% of the total wealth of America. After the great financial recession that began in the last quarter of 2007, these figures changed dramatically. The portion of American wealth owned by the 1% richest Americans rose from 35% to 37.2% while that owned by the 20% richest Americans increased from 85% to 87.8%. The global financial crisis led to a drop of 36% in the middle class wealth but only a decrease of 11% for the top 1% richest people in the United States. This further widened the gap between the two groups. At the start of the current decade, about 51% of the American population was in the middle class. Battle Of San Romeo Analysis Towards the start of the 14th century, a renewed passion for the Greek and Roman classics emerged, captivating the minds of people and bringing forth a significant intellectual movement known as Humanism. Humanism drew people towards a more secular view of life, encouraging them to become more interested in themselves, their own independence, and their own personal expression, while renewing their admiration for worldly pleasures in the here and now. Furthermore, Humanismhas been described as a mentality that was caught between medieval theology and modern day criticism and science, with the Renaissanceman appearing to be caught between faith and reason (Kreis). • 13. Difference Between Tourism And Culture Tourism and Culture Tourism is one of the links for an individual to visit the particular country to explore and experience the cultures different from one s own. Every culture has their own unique culture, by opening doors for other countries to visit, it allows other people to learn more about the culture and spread the culture to other people. It also allows the country itself to be aware of other people s cultures and learn from each other. Allowing globalization and better relationship with other countries. One of the most common links is the culture between westerners and Asian countries as their cultural beliefs are different from each other. Asian embraces unity while westerners embrace individualism. The best time to introduce tourism is before the festival holidays, where people often wear their traditional clothes and celebrate their festivals according to their traditions. Such as Chinese celebrate Chinese New Year and give offerings to their gods to request for blessing and peace for the coming years. This is a perfect opportunity for other tourist to witness this event to allow maximum exposure experience of the culture. The values of Inspiratory Capacity (IC), Vital Capacity (VC), Functional Residual Capacity (FRC), and Total Lung Capacity (TLC) were compared to the values of an Adult Female because the volunteer in the experiment was female as well. The comparison of values showed that the volunteer had low values of IC and VC but a much higher value of FRC. Factors contributing to these differences could be due to the volunteer possibly having a smaller lung capacity and lung size compared to the average female therefore causing the results, or the volunteer did not expire all the air possible from the lungs and caused skewed results considering the total lung capacity was very similar to the average female values. It actually works once the films end credits roll around, so you just got to stick with the flick to have everything figured out. I do want to mention how much sexuality is coursing through this movie s veins. There are copious amounts of nudity, lesbian love scenes and a tiny dash of incest. Edwige Fenech, who plays Floriana is basically in the movie to seduce every single person and boy, does she do an amazing job at it. I can t blame anyone for wanting to sleep with her, as she emits raw sexual energy whenever she is on screen. Report indicated the following: (a) soil disturbance increased the TSS and turbidity in the runoff; (b) correlations were observed between TSS and particulate runoff concentrations of chromium, copper, and zinc, indicating that solids removal may reduce total metals concentrations; and (c) The strong necessity to switch for new innovative techniques of treating storm water. The first concern when investigating innovative treatment methods is determining the needed level of storm water control. Specific treatment goals usually specify about 90% reductions in suspended solids concentrations. In most storm waters, this would require the removal of most particulates greater than about 10 Ојm in diameter, which is about 1% of the 1 mm size to prevent sewerage deposition problems. Numerous manufacturers have developed proprietary devices to treat storm water runoff. Decisions were made by receiving input from others, which sometimes worked better than others. I found myself seeking approval from my fellow group members before moving forward. • 31. Blame Home Inspector Essay Points to Consider Before You Blame the Home Inspector When you are hunting for a home, hiring a home inspector is critical. Home inspections provide important information for home buyers. However, many property owners are somewhat misguided in terms of what they should expect from a home inspector. Before you blame your inspector for a perceived oversight, you may want to explore the topic a bit further. The Current State of a Property It is important to remember that when an inspector examines a home, only the current state of the home can truly be assessed. It is not possible to view a home and suddenly be aware of all of the problems that may have been addressed in the past. Additionally, even the most astute professional cannot be expected to predict the issues that could manifest in the future. Unfortunately, numerous property buyers have unrealistic expectations when using inspectors. Code Determination Another fallacy that some homeowners believe is that their inspectors will assess the code qualifications of their homes. This can lead to confusion, frustration, and blame on the part of a property owner. If you have recently purchased a home after having it inspected, you should ... Othello has all of this, but it does also have a very suspenseful and dark side, which kept me interested. Shakespeare s Othello is story that takes place in the 1600 s and is centers around four main characters: Othello, a Moorish general in the Venetian army; his wife, Desdemona, his lieutenant Cassio and his trusted ensign, Iago. I found Othello to be a great story, play and movie because it encompasses all of the things we all experience in life such as: racism, love, jealousy and betrayal. He has a way of making you feel that you are really watching people from that time. I also seen a lot of the passion as Iago in him. When I read the play, I feel Kenneth Branagh nailed Iago s image that I read in the play. In the play, Iago has to be two faced all the time. He shows one side of him to one person, and another side to another. In the film, Iago works very hard to keep up his appearance with all the different characters. No character sees more than one side of him, and his plots are kept to himself. I think the role of Iago was a tough one to play because of the ability to make people truly believe how convening he was, but Branagh did a great job. I also noticed that when Othello was speaking, his facial reactions would visibly change when Othello looked the other way. It was incredible how quickly the change from an evil expression to a loving and loyal expression was made. In one scene, Iago and Othello are hugging, and Iago s face reflects contempt as soon as his face is beside Othello s face. This is another reason why I thought the movie brought more of the emotions out in me. • 33. Balance In The Oresteia Through the three plays of The Oresteia, we are exposed to many opposing forces of power. Elements such as darkness, light, fate, patriarchy, and justice are intertwined to make up Aeschylus tragic tale, however all of these elements are directed by one central force: balance. The word balance itself suggests a state of equilibrium or a stable environment. Balance is often looked at as a scale; if one side of the scale is overpowering the other, then it creates a state of disorder, irregularity, and even chaos. Aeschylus meddles with the scales of balance but, in the end, reinforces the equipoise of power. I would argue that, not only does The Oresteiainclude balance as a critical underlying theme and is strategically used in determining the outcome of the play, but that the role of Athena is vital in creating this balance. In this play, there are many cases in which the word balance can be substituted for the word justice. The final play, The Eumenides, is significantly based on the idea of balance. Aeschylus puts it as justice waits and turns the scales (line 61), meaning that justice is purposeful, and is one of the components that forces the balance within the play. By analyzing the reference to the tipping of the scales, we can assume a reversal of fortune and what is fated to happen. With the trial being the main plotline of the last play, it reveals the scales tipping towards justice and leaves us with a sense of harmony. The two sides of justice are seen ... • 35. Sonnets In Shakespeare s Sonnets Sonnets are known for its rigid format and being the hoard of poets flowery love confessions and tormenting heartache. While most poets generally stick to that cliche topic of love and the traditional English or Petrarchan structures, sonnets are not defined by these archetypal features. Both Shakespeare s My mistress eyes are... and Collins s Sonnetsatirically defy those typical sonnets. However both poems differ, as Shakespeare follows the standard English sonnet style and parodies the classic subject of love to show how ridiculous and idealistic love sonnets can be; while Collins on the other hand, breaks free from those stern sonnet rules to joke about the strictness of sonnet structures to define typical sonnet rules. Shakespeare follows the English style of sonnets, while Collins partially follows the Petrarchan style. Both sonnets include fourteen lines, a defining feature of the sonnet form. My mistress eyes are... consists of three quatrains that describes his argument on love cliches, and ends with a couplet, the turning point of English sonnets. The sonnet consists of ten syllables each line, adhering to the rhythm of the iambic pentameter rule. Shakespeare s sonnet follows the usual rhyme scheme of an English sonnet: abab cdcd efef gg. Conversely, Collins attempts to stray from the general sonnet principles in contrast with Shakespeare. Sonnet loosely follows the Petrarchan style, as the lines are grouped into one octave, a stanza of eight lines, and one sestet, a stanza of six lines, in structure. Collins s Sonnet does not have a rhyme scheme, nor does the poem follow iambic pentameter. His sonnet does, however, present his turn in the beginning of the sestet, a recurrent feature of a Petrarchan sonnet. Collins begins poking fun at English sonnets in the octave, but then turns to joke at Petrarchan forms. Both sonnets have a lighthearted, humorous tone, yet the poems parody the classic styles of sonnets in different ways. Shakespeare expresses his love for his mistress through metaphors, typical of sonnets about love. However, those comparisons describe his poor mistress through unpleasant ways, in distinct to typical love sonnets. Poets usually describe the beauty of their lover through ... Both pieces offer a perspective into the lives of women during their respective times and show how some standards that are considered favorable for men, are looked down upon for women. In particular, the two works examine how women were treated differently based on their education, their social status and even their sexual history. The amount is at least 200 gallons more than other developed countries such as Germany, and France. (Davis, 2013) The high consumption forces Americans to rely on foreign fuel sources since domestic energy is simply not enough to satisfy the thirst. Ethanol is considered renewable since the heartland of the United States grows so much corn annually to supply the plant. The corn growing process is quite damaging to the environment. Farming equipment runs on diesel fuel, which directly contributes to the greenhouse gas production. The use of fertilizer and insect repellent chemical is harmful to soil and atmosphere. The transportation of crops relies heavily on semi tractors that still heavily rely on fossil fuel, thus exacerbate the problem. Many people, in fact, love to travel to get to know a country s culture, food, language and landmarks. This will help people be more culturally diverse, open minded and usually more balanced people. The second reason I thought of was to have an adventure. Naturally, some people are more adventurous than others so they prefer doing something they have never done before. For instance, people who live near the ocean have the tendency to visit more mountainous places so they can have new experiences and do more radical activities. Another obvious reason is to spend some quality timewith your family. To provide a basis for comparison, in 2004 about 136 billion gallons of gasoline were consumed in the US and about two billion gallons of ethanol (Yacobucci 8). Ethanol is mainly consumed in two forms in the US. Most ethanol sold in the US is in a mix of 10% ethanol and 90% gasoline called E10 (Yacobucci 8). Any car is able to run on this, and it is currently being sold in much of the country. The ethanol works as an additive to help the gasoline burn more cleanly, improves performance, and provides energy as a fuel. The other less common form is E85, which contains 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline. Modern cars must be specially designed to run on E85. Many newer models of cars are designed as such, and these are called flex fuel vehicles. There are two common methods to make ethanol from corn (Rendleman 6). They mostly differ in the way that the corn is prepared. The first step is to grind the corn.
