For my neighborhood study of Goose Hollow, I completed a research project to answer my research
question, What is day to day life like in Goose Hollow? . This paper will reveal the story of my data
through showing common themes between my research team s data to highlight noticeable
conclusions drawn from my research methodologies.
In analyzing my data, it is important to note my positionality. I am a nineteen year old female college
student living in a downtown area of a city. I identify as being middle class, Jewish, heterosexual, and
Latina. These key aspects of identity were important to take into consideration while collecting and
analyzing my data because it can affect interpretation. For my research in Goose Hollow specifically,
my social location as a middle class Latina was the most relevant. An awareness of the tensions
inherent in research, and reflection on these tensions is important (McAullffe and Coleman, 2008, pg.
26). Being aware of my social location and following the ethics and protocol necessary in a research
project, allowed me to be reflexive during my study.
When making conclusions about my data to determine the narrative, I looked at how every research
methodology contributed to the themes of my neighborhood. In the very act of constructing data out of
experience, the qualitative researcher singles out some things as worthy of note and relegates others to
the background (Wolcott, 1994, pg. 13). For the purpose of my paper, I chose to focus on two themes
but that does not discredit the rest of my data. The two themes that appeared in all the data shared
between my research team, were the ideas that Goose Hollow serves as an in between place for people
trying to get from point A to point B and the active gentrification present in the neighborhood. To

camp for troubled teenagers and his experience there. Stanley is a teenage boy, hes was not a trouble

Stanley was accused of stealing a pair of cleats. But what really had happened was this boy named

cloning. Critics argue that de extinction will reduce the will of society to protect endangered species,

Reflection For My Personal Assignment
My theme for my second final piece follows on from my last theme of colour. This piece also
expresses personality through the use of colour, however, I moved away from using colour to form the
portraits and decided to make the background of my final piece to focus on colour and pattern. I want
to create a sense of how my personality is like just by the sight of my drawing and background.
Originally, my idea began with the thought of creating two different pieces. The message I wanted to
convey with this was to show the growth of my personality from then till now. The first piece idea
consisted of a portrait drawing of me as a young child while the background the background would be
either patterns or random painting techniques. The pattern determined how my personality was like as
a young child (for example, a structured background with repeated pattern shows a confident and
determined personality while random mark makings reflect a creative or angry personality). I wanted
this drawing to have smooth pencil strokes to create a pure and soft look to represent my young age.
For my second drawing of me in my represent state, I wanted the pencil strokes (used to create the
drawing) more rough such as cross hatching strokes technique. The cross hatches will be a
representation of me being more confident in myself as well as how the idea of who I am has
developed to this age.The background for the first drawing applies to the second one also. During the
process of my research, I decided to focus on creating one final piece. The final piece would be my
