History Of Marketing And The Marketing Strategy
The history of marketing can be traced back to the longest possible time probably further than you
thought. It will not be an exaggeration to say that it is as old as civilization itself. The probability
of success of any business lies in the marketing strategy it adopts. Simply put, if you are not
marketingyour business, you are in for a loss. While this concept remained unchanged, the ways of
marketing have changed several folds over the last few centuries.
1450 1700 Printed Advertisements Appears
The concept of marketing started many moons back, as far back as 1450! The first printed
advertising started with the invention of moveable type , which made mass printing possible for the
first time.

Fruits and vegetables were sold in the city square in the carts and wagons and their proprietors used
street callers (town criers) to announce their whereabouts for the convenience of the customers.
In the 18th century weekly advertisements began to be featured in newspapers in England. These
early print advertisements were mainly used to promote books, newspapers and research papers,
which became increasingly affordable with advances in the printing press; and medicines, which
were increasingly in demand as disease ravaged Europe.
1730 s Magazines Used as a Marketing Tool
One of the earliest examples of magazine is Erbauliche Monaths Unterredungen, a literary and
philosophy magazine, which was first published in 1663 in Germany. The Gentleman s Magazine
which was first published in 1731 in London, is considered as the first general interest magazine.
Edward Cave, who edited The Gentleman s Magazine under the pen name Sylvanus Urban , was
the first one to use the term magazine, which was derived from the Arabic makhazin (or,
storehouses). One of the oldest consumer magazines still in print is The Scots Magazine, which
was first published in 1739. But soon the concept of magazine as marketing tools lost its

The Idea For Bloom s Taxonomy
The idea for Bloom s Taxonomy was born in 1948 during an informal meeting at the American
Psychological Association Convention in Boston, by Benjamin S Bloom and a committee of
over 30 leading educators. (Bloom, Engelhart, Furst, Hill Krathwol, 1956 p. 4) Although the
taxonomy is general referred to as Bloom s Taxonomy, the work is considered a group product
that came form many revisions. (Bloom et al., 1956 p.9) The original work of Bloom s Taxonomy
(OW) came in the form of handbook, titled the Taxonomy of Educational Objectives: The
Classification of Educational Goals. The Taxonomy of Educational Objectives consisted of the
cognitive, affective and psychomotor domain. (Bloom et al., 1956 p. 7) The cognitive domain
focused on sex level... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Bloom et al., 1956 p. 5) However, the committee agreed that since educational objectives can be
view in behavior form and behavior of individuals can be observed and measured, a classification
could be applied. (Bloom et al., 1956 p. 7) To fully understand the OW, it is important to define
and clarify the term taxonomy as it is used in the handbook. The term taxonomy refers to the
classification systems that have made the Taxonomy of Educational Objectives so popular in the
world of education today. (Seaman, 2011 p. 30) The classification system was intended to
measure the degree to which student learned and intend educational behavior. (Bloom et al., 1956
p. 12) The committee likened its taxonomy system, to the classification of book in a library.
(Bloom et al., 1956 p. 9) The OW classifications are; 1) Knowledge 2) Comprehension 3)
Application 4) Analysis 5) Synthesis and 6) Evaluation. (Bloom et al., 1956 p. 18) These six
classifications comprise a tiered learning system that teachers used to push students through when
implementing an instructional model based on the Taxonomy of Educational Objectives in the OW.
Each classification level presented a higher amount of rigor, which required students to think more
critically. (McKay, 1956) The OW of Bloom s taxonomy suggested that critical thinking and higher
order skills are essential to student development. Essentially, the OW was designed to provide
teachers with a

Essay on Romance Movies and Real Life Relationships
Today, romance is one of the most popular genres to watch on television. Unlike most, romance is
a genre where the plot revolves around the love between two main characters as they experience
the highs and lows of love. Common themes that revolve around romantic movies are kissing, love
at first sight, tragic love, destructive love, and sentimental love (Taylor). These themes appear in
many historical films and the pattern still continues in modern films as well. Watching romantic
movies has a giant negative influence on the viewer s analysis of what love and relationships
should really be like. These films give the wrong impression of reality when it comes to dating,
marriage, having children, and even how to manage a relationship in... Show more content on

The article Romantic Comedies Affect Beliefs About Relationships , written by Arlyn Riskind,
suggests to readers that romantic films are a major source for developing unrealistic expectations
about love and relationships. A survey of 335 undergraduate students in the Midwest found a
significant relationship between reporting watching romantic films often and belief in the ideals
love conquers all, one and only love (soul mate) and love at first sight (Riskind). These findings
compliment the expectation that watching romantic movies is a major source leading to the
unrealistic expectations among viewers. In addition, romantic comedies also give the wrong
impression on relationships. If viewers are getting the wrong idea about love itself, then that leads
them into expecting more out of relationships as well. Almost every romantic movie is generally
targeted toward women and has the same basic format: Boy meets girl, mutual feelings develop,
conflicts arise and are overcome. Then, the story concludes with a happy ending as the two
characters live happily ever after together (Hefner). The article Contradictory Messages: A Content
Analysis of Hollywood Produced Romantic Comedy Feature Films , written by Kimberly Johnson
and Bjarne Holmes, explains a study that they had conducted together. Their study analyzed the

Standardization Of Entry Into Nursing Practice
This paper explores five journal articles gathered from The Future of Nursing: Leading Change,
Advancing Health, The Journal of Nursing Education, Journal of Professional Nursing, Nurse
Education Today, and The Online Journal of Issues in Nursing regarding the standardization of
entry into nursing practice. The greatest challenge in the nursing profession today continues to be
the lack of cohesion and agreement on how to proceed in the future of nursing. This paper will

All states hold different standards in regards to entry into nursing practice. Begging the question,
are nurses adequately prepared for the healthcare field and what does this mean for the future of the
nursing profession? The unified standard of entry into nursing practice is a must for the growth of
the nursing profession. This paper will review the ANA s 1965 position on entry into the nursing
practice, the current discussions on entry and advancements in the nursing profession, and the
current challenges in nursing education. American Nurses Associations 1965 position In 1963, the
U.S. Surgeon General s Consultant Group on Nursing identified a nationwide nursing shortage.
This led to the Comprehensive Nurse Training Act of 1964 that created nurse education and training
programs and also supplied grant funds for student loans, nursing school, and education grants
(Smith, 2009). A year later the Comprehensive Nurse Training Act led to the American Nurses
Association Committee on Education to look at nursing education, practice, scope, and
responsibilities. While looking into nursing education, concerns were raised about hospital based
diploma programs and the increasing complexity of healthcare. As a result, the American Nurses
Association s (ANA) released their 1965 position paper on entry into nursing practice. In their 1965

Facts About Being Divergent
The greatest power that anyone can have in this fantasy land is being divergent. Being divergent
makes Tris Prior one lucky girl. She has the power to be stronger and more capable of fighting
and protecting herself than everyone else that is not divergent. This universe includes five
factions that people are put into based on their aptitude tests with people that are divergent being
outliers. If someone is classified under two or more factions then they are divergent. After finding
out that she is divergent, Tris continues to think of her family and starts to believe that she was
born in the wrong faction. A faction is a group of people that are classified as having the same type

Few people are ever classed as divergent and it is considered to be dangerous to tell anyone about
being divergent. Divergent is seen as dangerous because if the wrong people hear about it then
they might attempt to take them out. Being divergent makes them a target because they are seen
as stronger than everyone else. They do not fit into one group, they fit into multiple groups. Being
divergent makes the person a target of anyone that finds them a threat, especially people that are
seeking power. The target forces most divergent people to be quiet about the fact that they re
divergent and they usually just claim the faction that they associate themselves with. In doing so,
they are usually able to not send any red flags and make people think that they re dangerous.
Anyone that tries to control the masses will have the biggest problem being the people that are

Why I Want To Be A Pediatrician
My current career aspirations are I would love to ultimately have a career as a pediatrician. The
reason why I would choose to have a career as a pediatrician is because this particular profession
combines some of my favorite things; helping others, working with children, and it s within the
science/medical field so I believe that this will be a wonderful fit for me. My passion for the
sciences grew while I was attending middle school and I still have a strong passion to this day.
Throughout my education career so far, I have participated with many organization within and
without school that include, Interact, Norton Shores Teen Advisory Board, United Way Youth
board, Choir Executive Board, Student Government, and couple more. One of the things that this
organizations have in common is that they are all groups do things that help benefit certain
people. While I participated with these organizations I also volunteered my time, held a part time
job, and went to school as well. If I did not care about and believe what I was doing, then I would
not have joined all these different organizations. One of the benefits of joining a variety of
organizations is that you get a sense of fulfillment knowing that you helped many people out of the
kindness of your heart.
As of now, for me specifically becoming a pediatrician will take a minimum of eleven years
because I will have to do about four years of college to receive a Bachelor s degree plus four years
of medical school to get a DO

Essay on virus
Virus Overview
The virus was first thought about in 1883 when A. Mayer was seeking to find the cause of the
tobacco mosaic disease. Though he was unable to see them with the microscopy of his day, he
postulated that a small agent caused the disease. D. Ivanowsky, later tried tests as well and also
concluded that it was a disease caused by something smaller than they could see. The virus was first
found and discovered in 1935 by Wendell Stanly. He was able to crystallize the virus, now known
as the tobacco mosaic virus.
The smallest viruses are only 20 nm in diameter, smaller even than a ribosome in a cell. Though not

Once control of the cell is achieved, the genes tell the cell to start producing more viral parts and
assemble them. Eventually, so many new viruses are produced, the cell swells and eventually
bursts, spewing hundreds or even thousands of new viruses.
The lysogenic cycle, is nearly the same as the lytic cycle, though a bit more controlled and hidden.
The gene code splices into the cells code and lies dormant, waiting for the time to then begin
producing itself. This way, the cell does not die after infection until the genes take over and begin
the lytic cycle.
Many variations on the viral infect scheme are among animal viruses. There are two variations,
viruses with envelopes and viruses with RNA genomes, though some have both of these features.

Aboriginal Residential Building
Architects these days choose to design buildings inspired by nature and do it in such a way that
they add in green walls or perhaps structures similar to that of a tree whereas Aboriginal
architecture is as one with nature. It is as raw and untouched as it gets. The modern world wants
to get in touch with nature but they re losing the true essence to the meaning of nature. With the
modernization of Australia, cross cultural designs can be seen in a few buildings such as the
Marika Alderton House by Glenn Murcutt. Many ethnocentric views came with the final
completion of this house. Some people call this timber and metal structure the future prototype for
Aboriginal housing but the Aborigine client herself denied that fact. Traditional Aboriginal
housing is made up of lightweight materials such as straw and such and this is because it s much
easier to move and travel around since they are nomadic. With heavyweight and non moveable
structures, Aboriginal people lose a part of their culture. Furthermore, if a family or tribe member
were to pass away, residents would have to evacuate and move to a sorry camp, leaving that
particular house abandoned for months or maybe even years. This is just one of the many obstacles
to overcome when designing a residential space for Aborigines.... Show more content on

Descriptive Essay On Olive Garden
Olive Garden is a family friendly restaurant that specializes in Italian American dishes, and is well
known for their soup, salad, and breadsticks. My family and I ate dinner at Olive Garden in
Lafayette, Indiana. The criteria used to rate our experience was the flavor, appearance, and
healthfulness of the food, the prompt and efficiency of the service, the price of the meal, and the
lighting and decor of the atmosphere. When it comes to the best service, food, price, and
atmosphere Olive Garden excels and continues to please their customers. The atmosphere of any
restaurant is a very important in making a first impression on their customers. When a customer
decides to try a new restaurant, if there is a bad atmosphere they may not want to return to the
restaurant. The Italian theme of Olive Garden is expressed throughout the outside decor of the
building. The outside is decorated with vines which are very reminiscent of Italian style buildings
with a beautiful entryway. The entrance of the restaurant was nicely decorated. Since it is around
Christmas they had a beautiful Christmas tree up, as well as garland and red bows. The lighting of
the restaurant was neither to dark or to bright. There was plenty of light to be able to see the menu,
and the light created a relaxed atmosphere throughout the restaurant.

An Enquiry Concerning The Principles Of Morals Essay
What is a moral? This is a question that has plagued philosophers for many years. Is it possible
to have a set of universal morals? There are many questions that surround the mystery of morals.
They seem to drive our every action. We base our decisions on what is right and what is wrong.
But what is it that actually determines what is right and what is wrong? Is it our sense of reason?
Is it our sense of sentiment? This is a question that David Humespent much of his life pondering.
What exactly is it that drivesour actions? Yes, morals drive them, but what determines what our
morals are? What is it that ultimately drives our actions; our feelings or our minds?

a truth. To make an analogy to mathematics, truth is a function of reason, whereas taste is a
function of sentiment. Sentiment is a function of the individual whereas reason is a function of the
universe.
The universe as a whole must follow reason, but the catch is that each individual s universe is
slightly different in that each individual perceives his or her universe differently. quot; What each
man feels within himself is the standard of sentiment. quot; (p.14) That is to say each person s
individual universe has truths. These truths are based on reason. These truths/reasons are what help
to determine the person s sentiment. However, it should be noted that because the reasons are
NOT necessarily the person s sentiments, they do not motivate actions. One other reason why
reason does not impel action is because reason is based on truths. Truths are never changing
whereas sentiments are dynamic and are in a constant change of flux. At one moment, the criminal
could feel sympathy for his victims and decide to spare a life, and the very next, the same criminal
could become enraged at the pimple on a hostage s forehead and shoot him.
Of course these are extreme cases, but the point is clear. Reason would dictate that only the first
action would be moral. If reason drove actions, then moral behavior would prevail and there would
be no immoral actions and hence there would be no crimes.

Critical Thinking In Nursing
Critical thinking in nursing is an essential component of professional accountability and quality
nursing care (Masters, 2017, p. 217). Nurses apply critical thinking by using their intellectual
reasoning to prevent unsafe practice. It allow nurses to study and interpret data appropriately to
make a judgement about the patient s condition or the achievement of a particular outcome. It is
important that nurses use critical thinking to coordinate patient care by developing and applying
strong clinical skills for a safe, organized environment. I use critical thinking to reflect on
implications and consequences of circumstances that may arise during a problem or to understand a

Review Of The Bacchae, The Aeneid, And Book 15 Of...
Within the societies of ancient Greece and Rome, there was a plethora of regimes, Caesars, and
empires at the helm of everyday life. The political sphere encountered in the daily routines of
ancient Greeks and Romans gave influence to the multitude of literary works produced in these
societies. The works of Euripides, Virgil, and Ovid gave a vehicle for these writers to infuse
commentary about the politics of the day. Politics is how groups of people organize making
decisions that affect the individuals contained within said groups. The Bacchae, the Aeneid, and
Book 15 of Metamorphoses all contain commentary concerning politics within their content. In
Euripides the Bacchae, the city of Thebes is shown to have a system of political inheritance as
Pentheus is given control over the city by his grandfather Cadmus, the founder of the city. The
god Dionysus is also a grandson of Cadmus, yet is not chosen to be the heir to Thebes, which
creates a rivalry between Dionysus and Pentheus. Pentheus does not allow Dionysus into the city of
Thebes or give recognition to Dionysus at all. Dionysus and Pentheus both wish to establish their
own political rule over the city of Thebes. Pentheus attempts to rule Thebes in an Apollonian
fashion. The women brought to Thebes by Dionysus are put under arrest at the order of Pentheus,
due to the drunken partying they were having due to Dionysus powers. The women s party went
against the social order enforced by the city of Thebes, and Dionysus

Taco Bell was successful in running a media campaign that effectively dealt with the crisis

Masticating juicer doesn t use blades and doesn t need high speed to extract juice from the fruits
and vegetables. Masticating juicers are also more versatile than centrifugal juicers because, in
addition to extracting juices, these juicers also homogenize foods to make baby foods, pates,
sauces, nut butters, banana ice creams and fruit sorbets. Masticating juicers are better at
preserving nutrients as they turn slowly and squash the juice out of your fresh produce, this is
what we recommend as it s better for you, but bear in mind the juice will be live ie somewhat
bitty, so your kids may not dig it. Masticating juicers work at lower speeds and are therefore
more adept at juicing a wider range of fruit and vegetables than centrifugal juicers. Masticating
juicers work well for all fruits and vegetables, including wheatgrass and leafy greens. Masticating
juicers are less common, tend to be more expensive, better made and last a lot longer.

Noah Compare And Contrast Essay
In this essay I will compare and contrast the movie Noah and the bible references of Noah in
Genesis 5 10. Sometimes when you read a book and then watch a movie about it, it s completely
different. But in the movie Noah and in the bible it basically follows his life the same, there aren t
really any differences. In the movie it describes about his life and his three sons Shem, Ham, and
Japheth. And in the bible it describes about his life and three sons.
Most importantly, in the movie Noah as young boy he witnesses his father Lamech get killed by
Tubal Cain. And years later as a young man Noah is living with his wife Naameh, and three sons
Shem, Ham, and Japheth. After witnessing a flower grow from the concrete and being haunted
by dreams of a flood, Noah takes time to visit his grandfather Methuselah. After meeting some
people that had recently died they find one survivor, so Noah and his wife decided to adopt her
a young girl named lla. Then Noah and his family are chased by Tubal Cain and his men seek
refuge with the fallen angels known as The Watchers . Methuselah gives Noah a seed from Eden

But in the bible it doesn t really go into detail about what happened with him before the great
flood . And his wife isn t really addresses her by her name Naameh. In the bible it continuously
says his wife rather than Naameh. In the bible it also explains how old Noah s grandfather
Methuselah was when he died which he was 969 years old when he died. And it also says that
Noah was 500 years old when he produced his three sons. In the bible in chapter 7 it explains how
god told Noah that he would cause it to rain for 40 days and 40 nights. It also says that Noah was
600 years old when he followed gods command and the flood waters began and he took his wife
and sons and his sons wives and went into the ark. Because of the flood

A Community Mental Health Team While Working With A Client...
Introduction
This literature review and research proposal was motivated following a practice placement with a
Community Mental Health Team while working with a client with Generalised Anxiety Disorder
(GAD). GAD is a long term condition that causes someone to feel anxious about a wide range of
situations and issues, rather than one specific event. GAD is a common mental health condition
affecting 1 in every 25 people in the United Kingdom, its prevalence is slightly more among
women than men and individuals between the ages of 35 and 55 (NHSChoices, 2014). People
with GAD feel anxious most days and often struggle to remember the last time they felt relaxed
(NHSChoices, 2014). Feeling anxious is a normal response to stressful experiences, however when
anxiety is prolonged, inappropriate, and/or overwhelming to the point that it impacts on
functioning, it becomes a pathological disorder (Davis, 2011). The anxiety, worry, or physical
symptoms cause significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas
of functioning (APA, 2000). Studies have shown that GAD is more impairing than other anxiety
disorders (Hoffmann et al., 2009); and people afflicted with GAD have reported significantly less
satisfaction with their quality of life in particular in the domains of self esteem, goals and values,
money, work, play, learning, creativity, friends and family (Henning et al., 2007). Thus GAD has a
disabling impact on an individual s occupation performance

Music, Religion, and wildlife in the Life of Pi
Yann Martel s The Life of Pi is a novel set in the realm of magical realism, published in
September 2001. The film was produced by Ang Lee and tells the story of a boy of Indian
descent named Pi Patel, who is the son of a Zookeeper and loses his family when the Japanese
ship carrying the zoo animals and his family to North America sinks to the bottom of the pacific
ocean in a tragic accident. Stranded on a lifeboat with a zebra, orangutan, and a tiger, Pi does the
unthinkable to survive. The Life of Pie incorporates much of India s culture, including music,
religion and wildlife.
The music in the story is very true of Indian culture often incorporating traditional music and
making reference to Indian gods such as Krishna and Appa. Krishna is a popular Hindu deity
known to many as the hero of all gods. The song Meeting Krishna is played when Pi s family is in

Poverty Is Not A Country Exclusive Issue
Poverty, what is it? Poverty cannot be defined by just one definition. Poverty is a serious
worldwide issue that is affecting all of our lives in the world. In Fact,Did you know nearly half
of the world s population, more than three billion people, live on less than two dollars and fifty
cents a day. Just think, If you were given that same budget could you survive? Would you be able
to live the same lifestyle that you do? The answer is most likely no and this is a mind blowing
statistic. Statics like these are real eye openers, because they make you think and appreciate just

Then these people more often will get sick and eventually die. Another huge issue of poverty is
lack of education. Without a proper education, the poor will stay in poverty . This happens
because without a proper education most employers will ignore the application to the
job, because of the lack of knowledge that you may have. More commonly, people with a higher
education receive more job opportunities. A 2003 study sponsored by the National Center for
Children in Poverty found that in families whose income falls below 200 percent of the Federal
Poverty Line children score far below average on reading, math and general knowledge tests. A
lack of education perpetuates poverty and breaking this cycle is key to overcoming persistent
poverty in the world. That being said, in order for us to eliminate poverty we need to get our
students into better education system and take action for our students to learn so the cycle can end.
Last but most definitely not least, issue that causes poverty is divorce. Single Parents who have
to raise children on their own have a harder time and less resources than a couple who is still
married. Typically divorcing or separating mothers are 2.83 times more likely to be in poverty
than those who remain married. This being said the parent that usually ends up with custody of the
child see a huge drop in their income, which is usually around 52% drop. Consequently , divorce
can easily lead to poverty

The World Is Too Much With Us By William Wordsworth Analysis
It was no secret that William Wordsworth was a nature lover. His love for nature was clearly seen
in many of his brilliant writings in poetry. Many of his poems were inspired by nature itself and
being out in nature allowed him to produce legendary poems that still today, capture the minds of
readers. As technologyadvances, we as humans are becoming lost in the cyber world and this has
caused many of us to lose touch with nature. It s sad to say that, because of the increasing amount
of technology in the world now a day we would rather spend our free time on our phones or
catching up on the latest tv shows than taking a relaxing walk in the park while embracing the
natural wonders that surround us. Through the poems The World Is Too Much with Us and The
Tables Turned written by one of most the genuine nature writer himself William Wordsworth
, he
expresses how mankind has become distant with nature and the values of spending time with
nature. Looking at Wordsworth poem The World Is Too Much with Us , it mainly tells us that
humans have become detached from nature. The poem opens up with The World Is Too Much with
Us (1) it conveys to us that people have developed the need for material things rather than
connecting with the natural world. Material things don t just magically appear when you ask for it
and because of the high demand for material things in our society, people tend to focus on getting
and spending (2) money to get the things that they want.

The Ethics Of The English Marine Insurance System
1.Introduction
While in recent years, more and more self help motivational books or websites may be
encouraging an All or Nothing attitude towards life in general, one would indisputably agree that
when an assured is taking up a policy, in this context, a Marine Policy, one is trying to protect
against risks of the unknown, and definitely not signing up for a All or Nothing lottery game.
However, two judgments in the English Courts for rules on proximate causation, particularly cases
with a combination of perils to be considered, seemed to suggest the notion of Do you feel lucky
today? thus raising doubts on the justice of the rules on proximate causation in the English marine
insurance system.
Hence, this paper aims to discuss in greater depth the reasoning and outcome of the two
judgments i.e. the judgment of the Court of Appeal in The Miss Jay Jay [1987] 1 Lloyd s Rep
32, and of the Supreme Court judgment in The Cendor MOPU [2011] 1 Lloyd s Rep. 560, to see
if they are an arguably sufficient justification for the view that the English marine insurance system
rules on proximate causation should be repealed and replaced by a system similar to that used in
the Nordic Marine Insurance Plan.
2.Proximate Causation
2.1Predominant or Efficient Cause
The concept of proximate causation has a critical role in Marine Insurance Law. A connection
between the covered perils and the loss is required to determine causation and therefore liability.
In Section 55(1) of Marine

The Legality Of Planned Parenthood
Abortion is a controversial topic in the United States, causing a split debate on the morality of
allowing women to continue aborting babies up until 22 weeks of gestation and the argument that
abortion should not be allowed on any circumstances excluding rape, incest or the health of the
mother. These situations are complex and many women have strong opinions and they use the
terms Prolife or Prochoice to explain their position on the matter. Planned Parenthood is the primary
location where women can carry out the termination of their pregnancy. Abortionis always a
political issue during election time so the legality of Planned Parenthood is constantly being
inspected.
Margaret Sanger started the birth control movement in the early 1910 s and advocated for the
right of contraception during sex. After her founding of Parenthood in 1916, It led to major
modifications in the laws governing birth control and sex education in the United States. Planned
Parenthood originally went by the name Birth Control Clinical Research Bureau but later formed
with the American Birth Control League (ABCL) which eventually evolved itself to become a
center advocating for women s health with a primary focus on providing abortions for women (
History of Planned Parenthood ). Previously, this right was illegal for women, so they were forced
to bear children for their husband, whom had a strong control over the woman. Sanger became
passionate on this subject because she herself was a part of an

Disadvantages Of Solar Power
Solar Power was it a blessing in disguise or will it end up being a desolation for the entire
civilisation?
Whenever a new advancement is introduced, without a doubt, an impact is being made on the
society, although it really makes our lives a whole more better and easy but one cannot really
ignore that there are a number of ways in which it could negatively impacts our society. As a matter
of fact, we experience this effect in our daily lives. It has an effect on the growth of the economy,
our culture and our living standards. It is however important to consider that the benefits are an

Although solar energy is provided for an environmental friendly option however there are studies
that reveal that it has health effect on humans as they produce toxins furthermore it has
implications on our ecosystems and the provision of goods, for example crops, and services, such
as soil carbon storage. As with any type of power plant, large solar power plants can affect the
environment where they are located. Clearing land for construction and the placement of the
power plant may have long term impacts on plant and animal life by reducing habitat areas for
native plants and animals. Power plants may require water for cleaning solar collectors or
concentrators and may require water for cooling turbine generators. Using ground water or surface
water in some waterless locations with major solar potential may affect the ecosystem. In addition,
birds and insects can be killed if they fly into a concentrated beam of sunlight created by a solar
power tower. Another disadvantage is solar panels dependence on the weather. The more direct
sunlight a solar panel receives the more power it can generate. When the weather becomes cloudy,

Changing Role Of Women During World War II
Changing Role of Women in World War II
When Britain declared war against Germany in 1939, the Australian Prime Minister, Robert
Menzies, proclaimed that Australia was also at war. The declaration of war saw Australians
respond to another world conflict. On this occasion, Australia itself would be under the threat of
attack. World War II would not only require young men to travel overseas and fight but it also
significantly impacted the lives of Australian women. The contribution Australian women made
towards the war effort and their roles on the Homefront and overseas was a vital part of Australian
History. Australian women had a range of duties and responsibilities they were encouraged to
perform. Since most men had to go overseas to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, through this experience, women bought long term changes and they had the chance to
experience independence which allowed them to discover life long skills. This was one of their
many achievements which eventually changed the modern society. As seen in Appendix 1, the
AWLA received the newly created Civilian Service Medal 1939 1945 due to their support of the
war effort. This undoubtedly indicates that these women were the start of an alteration in Australia
for the long term, due to their struggle and achievement.
Women in World War II started replacing men in traditional roles, which proved to society that
women were capable of work reserved for men. Due to labour shortages and the need for men to
fight overseas, the government was forced to allow women to take a more active role. Women
had a broad range of duties and responsibilities, most women were trained in many of the home
front tasks, subsequently, that more service men could be freed to join the overseas forces, this
created new employment opportunities for women (Carrodus et al, 2012, p. 113). Tens of
thousands of women joined the Women s Air Force, Naval and Army Services during World War
II. (Big Black Dog Communications Pty Ltd, et al, 2009). As seen Appendix 2, women in the
services were significant as they were beginning to perform all types of work, from intelligence
officers to drivers, typists and cooks, to wireless telegraphists and aircraft ground staff. To go from

The Challenge Between Civilization and Savagery in Lord...
In the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, symbolism and allegories were used to show
how the children who are stranded on an island have a huge struggle with civilization and savagery.
Ralph, Piggy, Jack, and Simon are the ones in the novel that struggle with this the most.
Golding wrote this story because he was horrified of Stalinism in Russia. His experience in World
War II effected his view on humanity and evils that are capable of occurring. Ralph, Piggy, and
Simon are manifested with the civilizing instinct , while Jack, Roger, and the other hunters have the
savage instinct. Golding also dealt with human nature. Jean Jacques Rousseau believed that man is

Through out the book, Ralph struggles with his civilization and savagery. An example is when
he joins Jack and his tribe of what they thought was the Beast . Over a period of time, Ralph
beings to lose the way that he thinks. You can see signs of this when he has a hard time
developing an agenda for his meetings with the boys. He also beings to lose his morals and self
control. Ralph becomes savage after everyone has joined Jacks new tribe. He has always been
savage because everyone has savagery in them. He truly shows his savage side when he murdered
Simon. It was a night on the beach while everyone is around a fire. The boys start to chant for the
beast to come out. Everyone is in the moment and something from the woods comes out onto the
beach. A thing was crawling out of the forest (Golding152). They start attacking what they think is
the beast . Once they stop Ralph then realizes that they have killed Simon. The next morning, Ralph
is the only person to acknowledge that they murdered someone the night before. This is the only
time that Ralph becomes savage. He knows what he has just done was an awful thing, but at the
same time it gave him an adrenaline rush. He was excited about what he did. In the end, Ralph
gained an understanding of mans human nature character, something that he cant acquire.
Under the authority of Ralph, second in line was a kid named Piggy. Piggy is a symbol of science,
intellectuality, and the rational world.

How Does Old Major Use Repetition In Animal Farm
The usage of repetition effectively drums a message into the animals subconsciousness which
brainwashes the animals into accepting it as the truth regardlessly. This technique first appears in
Old Major s speech to the animals in Chapter 1 where he introduces and repeatedly establishes the
idea that Man is the only real enemy [they] have and that by removing humans, the root cause of
hunger and overwork would become abolished from the animalslives (Orwell 7). Old Major
highlights and reinforces these points purposely to convince the animals of their subjugation and
thus gain support for his idea of rebellion, similar to Lenin inspiring the Bolsheviks to rebel against
the tsar. Although Major appears to offer free choices to his audience... Show more content on

Moreover, while the repetition initially appears to help the animals clarify the principle of
Animalism they support in their minds, it later becomes a meaningless sound that serves no other
purpose than to drown out dissenting opinion against the pigs. Following Snowball s removal,
Napoleon assumes total control over Animal Farm and forces all the animals, except the dogs and
pigs, to work on the farm under the illusion that they work for themselves. Shortly after the Battle
of the Windmill, a miniature World War 2, in which farmer Frederick and his men advance and
blow up the animals windmill, Napoleon commanded that once a week there should be held
something called a Spontaneous Demonstration with the purpose of [celebrating] the struggles and
triumphs of the animals (115). Ironically enough, the event does not happen spontaneously it
happens on a regular basis. Napoleon organizes these demonstrations to continually convince the
animals that their lives have improved and distract them from the cold and hunger. Consequently,
the animals feel as if the ritual reminds them that have control over themselves although the
controlled nature of the event proves untrue. Some animals, especially the sheep, even buy into this
false message of the wonderful life at Animal

The Nsa Should Create A Privilege Management Program
The IT department should create a privilege management program in active directory that ensures
personnel only have access to material to resources and information they require. These access
controls should also be deployed when there s a suspicion or termination of an employee. In the
case of the two interns, the network administrator should create login hours and system specific
login s tp prevent any leak in information during the after hours. The recent issues at the National
SecurityAgency (NSA) displayed what can happen with an unaudited IT department, and according
to the Register:
The NSA policy prevents a typical worker from doing things like copying files to USB thumb

by virtue of being classified as systems administrator. With that privilege, Snowden would have
been able to move files around at will, sources claim (Tim Worstall, 2013). This catastrphe could
have been prevented, if the NSA had a robust access control in place to detour Snowden from
causing significant damage. Some network security concerns that should be addressed is the
physical component while damage can be inflicted on the network from remote terminal, an
attacker with physical access is a much greater concern. The Global Accounting network system
should be placed in a secure room where only essential personnel have access. Network devices

Iron Deficiency And Its Effects
Researches done in the past have showed that iron deficiency can cause physiologic, morphologic,
and biochemical changes in the orangs affected by it before there is a change in hematocrit (Beard
JL, 2001).
Iron is an essential micronutrient that is needed by the body because it is required for several
neurological metabolic processes such as: myelination, cytokinesis, electron transport, antioxidant
enzyme activity, and biogenic metabolism (Hyman, 2012).
Iron also plays an important role in the developing central nervous system of an infant due to the
fact that iron participates in a wide variety of cellular function and is essential for normal neural
development and physiology (Hyman, 2012). Thus, iron deficiency during an infant s neurological
development is a critical point because it can significantly impact a variety of behavioral and
cognitive function.
The part of the brain that is affected by iron depletion is the deep cerebral nuclei, substantia nigra,
and basal ganglia (Hyman, 2012). These three parts of the brain are the ones that have the highest
concentration of iron in an adult s brain and they are involved in the coordination and motor
control of the body (Lozoff B, 2011). An iron deficient adult also shows a decrease in dopamine
neurotransmission, which relates to the motor control (Lozoff B, 2011). In addition, dopamine also
plays a role in the prefrontal striatal system, which is involved in selective memory, spatial, and

The Importance Of Art In Renaissance Art
As the skills of artists progressed during the Renaissance, so did the applications of their work.
Artists began combining media to create wholistic themes within a space to evoke specific
meanings to those who visited these spaces. This integration of architecture and other artistic
media took many different forms all in an effort to capture the the array skills possessed by artist
as well as the reputation and story behind those who commissioned the spaces. The Camera Picta
which translates to painted room in the Palazzo Ducale by Andrea Mantegna is one example of
these wholistic spaces. The space was commissioned by Mantua s ruling family the Gonzagas,
specifically Ludovico Gonzaga. The dynasty had been a stable one since the 14th century and the
family wanted to showcase their powerful reign to those who visited their palace. They asked
their court artist Mantegna to completely cover the walls of the entertainment room with portraits
of the family. Ludivico is shown with his wife and family members seated around him in
perspective painting that gives an illusion depth of an extension of the space. This was done
through the use of fictive architectural features of vaulting, curtains, and columns. The ceiling is

the values that we embrace. These values are originated from our upbringing, friends, family,

The success of Aston Blair s other films often depended upon the timing and popularity of major
new releases by its rivals, making accurate forecasting difficult. Moreover, as the firm has tried
to increase sales growth, it has introduced more completely new titles and relied less on sequels
to past hits. The increasing emphasis on new titles has further complicated forecasting efforts.
The combination of declining demand and Aston s Blair s overly optimistic sales forecasts for
the first two quarters of 2004 had resulted in excessive inventories and sizable losses. Aston Blair
s current problems stood in dramatic contrast with the company s recent record of outstanding
growth and profitability. Aston s great grandfather founded the company in 1910 as a producer of
children s books, and as the company evolved into multimedia, it had always enjoyed a reputation
for being a premiere supplier. During Aston s 10 year stewardship as chief executive officer, the
firm had quadrupled in size and had become the most profitable firm in the industry. Aston
attributed this recent success to the company s aggressive marketing efforts and to its ability to
identify potential multimedia users and to work with them in developing products tailored to their
requirements. Under Aston s and Pack s direction, the company was the first firm in the industry to
develop a marketing organization where market

Attaining Virtue in The Republic of Plato
In the Republic of Plato, the philosopher Socrates lays out his notion of the good, and draws the
conclusion that virtue must be attained before one can be good. For Socrates there are two kinds
of virtue; collective and individual. Collective virtue is virtue as whole, or the virtues of the city.
Individual virtuepertains to the individual himself, and concerns the acts that the individual does,
and concerns the individual s soul. For Socrates, the relationship between individual and collective
virtue is that they are the same, as the virtues of the collective parallel those of the Individual. This
conclusion can be reached as both the city and the soul deal with the four main virtues of wisdom,
courage, moderation, and justice.
To be begin with, an individual cannot be good until they have attained the virtue of wisdom,
and the same can be said for the city. For the individual, the person must not only be wise
himself, but his soul must have wisdom. The only way to achieve this according to Socrates, is
through for philosophy. In this way it is the same for the city, for in the city, wisdom lies with the
guardians as they are the philosophers. The guardians are put in charge of the city because of their
knowledge of how the city should be run. Because of this, the Guardians wisdom becomes the City
s. (Book IV)
The second virtue that must be attained is courage. For the Individual, courage must be in the soul
to resist temptations, and to be ready to fight. The same is for

Part 1.a Summary of Workplace (~ 1 ВЅ to 2 pages)
In All the Livelong Day by Barbara Garson, she writes about many workplaces and how they run.
In one chapter, Tuna Fish, she interviews a variety of workers who do individual, sequential tasks
on an assembly line for Bumble Bee. The workers do not like working there, however, it is the
best job in their town. Recently, there was one character that stood out to me in the chapter. Nan
Cappy is a skinner at the Bumble Bee tuna fish processing factory, skinners prepare the fish for
processing. She lived outside of the town, married, and had four kids. She was originally from
Detroit and moved to Astoria, Oregon with her husband for his work and enjoyed living in the
Northeast. Working for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nan describes it by saying You re not even as good as a machine because they wouldn t leave a
broken machine just sitting on a bench in the locker room (Garson 44). The workers realize this
when they find out that the union is hiring casual workers who work during the summers and get
the same pay and benefits as the full time workers. This upsets the regular year round workers
because they find it unfair that they are getting shorter shifts all summer. The workers decide to
go on strike for six weeks, however, the union isn t affected by this because their contract expires
before the season. The full time workers end up winning the union comes back with probationary
workers. They get thirty cents an hour less until four hundred and eighty hours (Garson 46). Nan
doesn t believe they won, she believes the union used them because probationary workers are just
a different name for casual workers. Most of her coworkers also reached the same conclusion but
made excuses as to why.
b. Application of organization behavior concept
Organizational Commitment (about ВЅ to 1 page)
Organizational commitment is defined as An employee who identifies with a particular
organization and its goals and wishes to stay a member (Robbins Judge 38). Nan Capp has worked

Examples Of Euphemism In The Giver
Lois Lowry s book, The Giver, illustrates a futuristic society in which a strict law is enforced and
no citizen thinks of going against that law. There are no deviations from what is considered the
normal. A large contribution to the creation of their perfect society is keeping the public unaware
of things happening around them. Lowry helps create this perfect world by creating euphemisms in
their everyday speech where the main purpose is keeping the public from completely
understanding the whole truth. Not only did the euphemisms play a large part in the book, but
also, the author s own personal experiences and events that occurred around the same time as the
writing of the book helped to shape the book into what it is now. In 1994,... Show more content on

Lowry continues by explaining that by ignoring the girl it almost made her invisible; like she was
not there at all. That instilled a sense of comfort or safeness (Telgen 169). By shutting out the
different in her college dormitory all of the other girls felt a sense of comfort or safeness. This
feeling they created is very similar to the feeling Jonas community creates by controlling the
characteristics of their community and making sure that everything is the same and there are no
outliers. Other memories that Lowry used to create The Giver that were not mentioned in her
Newbery Acceptance speech were revealed in a book she wrote in 1998 called Looking Back: A
Book of Memories. In her book she was able to correlate the quote,
Lily, please hold still, Mother said again. Lily, standing in front of her, fidgeted impatiently. I can
tie them myself, she complained. I always have. I know that, Mother replied, straightening the
hair ribbons on the little girl s braids. But I also know that they constantly come loose and more
often than not, they re dangling down your back by afternoon. Today, at least, we want them to be
neatly tied and to stay neatly tied (Lowry 40). to growing up in 1911, when it was a time of ribbons

Essay on The QuinceaГ±era
All birthdays are special. Birthdays celebrate life and the passing of time. In a young Mexican
girl life, there is no birthday more important then her quinceaГ±era. The quinceaГ±era is a
celebration of a girl s journey into womanhood. The story of my fifteenth birthday is contributed
for a better understanding of how special it is to celebrate a girls transformation into a lady, and
how it differs from any other birthdayshe celebrates. A quinceaГ±era receives a gorgeous gift
from a family member on her fifteenth birthday, something that she will carry with her forever. In
this cultural celebration for our family, it is very important for the father to give his daughter a
special jewelry that resembles his love for her on her... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is commonly given to the quinceaГ±era in front of her main friends and family, so it would
heighten the importance of getting the gift. My father made sure that my grandparents attended,
because he knew important they are to me. My quinceaГ±era is the only birthday in which my
grandparents were in attendance. They are very old and may not be able to see them for another
birthday of mine. The trip is long and tedious, which is difficult on a weakened body, so having
them there at my quince was the greatest memento. All the people who attend to the quince are
not likely to attend again to another birthday, which is why they specify this celebration into the
most significant moment in a young Mexican girl life. Most people, especially girls shop for an
outstanding birthday outfit to wear. No other wardrobe can relate to what you wear for your
quinceaГ±era. It is the only birthday where a Mexican girl could actually feel like a princess. She
wears a beautiful crown covered in rhinestones that essentials her up do with a gorgeous scepter
that contributes to the tiara. Her dress is what makes her the starlight of the night. It is big and
puffy as a Cinderella dress embracing her figure. There is not another birthday that it is usual for a
girl to wear what a quinceanera wears, and that is what makes the night distinctive from any another
birthday.
During a normal birthday celebration you would

It will not be an exaggeration to say that it is as old as civilization itself. The probability of success of any business lies in the marketing strategy it adopts. Simply put, if you are not marketingyour business, you are in for a loss. While this concept remained unchanged, the ways of marketing have changed several folds over the last few centuries. 1450 1700 Printed Advertisements Appears The concept of marketing started many moons back, as far back as 1450! The Idea For Bloom s Taxonomy The idea for Bloom s Taxonomy was born in 1948 during an informal meeting at the American Psychological Association Convention in Boston, by Benjamin S Bloom and a committee of over 30 leading educators. (Bloom, Engelhart, Furst, Hill Krathwol, 1956 p. 4) Although the taxonomy is general referred to as Bloom s Taxonomy, the work is considered a group product that came form many revisions. (Bloom et al., 1956 p.9) The original work of Bloom s Taxonomy (OW) came in the form of handbook, titled the Taxonomy of Educational Objectives: The Classification of Educational Goals. (Bloom et al., 1956 p. 5) However, the committee agreed that since educational objectives can be view in behavior form and behavior of individuals can be observed and measured, a classification could be applied. (Bloom et al., 1956 p. 7) To fully understand the OW, it is important to define and clarify the term taxonomy as it is used in the handbook. The term taxonomy refers to the classification systems that have made the Taxonomy of Educational Objectives so popular in the world of education today. (Seaman, 2011 p. 30) The classification system was intended to measure the degree to which student learned and intend educational behavior. (Bloom et al., 1956 p. 12) The committee likened its taxonomy system, to the classification of book in a library. (Bloom et al., 1956 p. 18) These six classifications comprise a tiered learning system that teachers used to push students through when implementing an instructional model based on the Taxonomy of Educational Objectives in the OW. Each classification level presented a higher amount of rigor, which required students to think more critically. (McKay, 1956) The OW of Bloom s taxonomy suggested that critical thinking and higher order skills are essential to student development. Essentially, the OW was designed to provide teachers with a ... Unlike most, romance is a genre where the plot revolves around the love between two main characters as they experience the highs and lows of love. Common themes that revolve around romantic movies are kissing, love at first sight, tragic love, destructive love, and sentimental love (Taylor). These themes appear in many historical films and the pattern still continues in modern films as well. Watching romantic movies has a giant negative influence on the viewer s analysis of what love and relationships should really be like. The article Romantic Comedies Affect Beliefs About Relationships , written by Arlyn Riskind, suggests to readers that romantic films are a major source for developing unrealistic expectations about love and relationships. A survey of 335 undergraduate students in the Midwest found a significant relationship between reporting watching romantic films often and belief in the ideals love conquers all, one and only love (soul mate) and love at first sight (Riskind). These findings compliment the expectation that watching romantic movies is a major source leading to the unrealistic expectations among viewers. In addition, romantic comedies also give the wrong impression on relationships. If viewers are getting the wrong idea about love itself, then that leads them into expecting more out of relationships as well. Almost every romantic movie is generally targeted toward women and has the same basic format: Boy meets girl, mutual feelings develop, conflicts arise and are overcome. Then, the story concludes with a happy ending as the two characters live happily ever after together (Hefner). Begging the question, are nurses adequately prepared for the healthcare field and what does this mean for the future of the nursing profession? The unified standard of entry into nursing practice is a must for the growth of the nursing profession. This paper will review the ANA s 1965 position on entry into the nursing practice, the current discussions on entry and advancements in the nursing profession, and the current challenges in nursing education. American Nurses Associations 1965 position In 1963, the U.S. Surgeon General s Consultant Group on Nursing identified a nationwide nursing shortage. This led to the Comprehensive Nurse Training Act of 1964 that created nurse education and training programs and also supplied grant funds for student loans, nursing school, and education grants (Smith, 2009). A year later the Comprehensive Nurse Training Act led to the American Nurses Association Committee on Education to look at nursing education, practice, scope, and responsibilities. One other reason why reason does not impel action is because reason is based on truths. Truths are never changing whereas sentiments are dynamic and are in a constant change of flux. Introduction This literature review and research proposal was motivated following a practice placement with a Community Mental Health Team while working with a client with Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD). GAD is a long term condition that causes someone to feel anxious about a wide range of situations and issues, rather than one specific event. GAD is a common mental health condition affecting 1 in every 25 people in the United Kingdom, its prevalence is slightly more among women than men and individuals between the ages of 35 and 55 (NHSChoices, 2014). People with GAD feel anxious most days and often struggle to remember the last time they felt relaxed (NHSChoices, 2014). Feeling anxious is a normal response to stressful experiences, however when anxiety is prolonged, inappropriate, and/or overwhelming to the point that it impacts on functioning, it becomes a pathological disorder (Davis, 2011). The anxiety, worry, or physical symptoms cause significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning (APA, 2000). Studies have shown that GAD is more impairing than other anxiety disorders (Hoffmann et al., 2009); and people afflicted with GAD have reported significantly less satisfaction with their quality of life in particular in the domains of self esteem, goals and values, money, work, play, learning, creativity, friends and family (Henning et al., 2007). The Ethics Of The English Marine Insurance System 1.Introduction While in recent years, more and more self help motivational books or websites may be encouraging an All or Nothing attitude towards life in general, one would indisputably agree that when an assured is taking up a policy, in this context, a Marine Policy, one is trying to protect against risks of the unknown, and definitely not signing up for a All or Nothing lottery game. However, two judgments in the English Courts for rules on proximate causation, particularly cases with a combination of perils to be considered, seemed to suggest the notion of Do you feel lucky today? thus raising doubts on the justice of the rules on proximate causation in the English marine insurance system. Hence, this paper aims to discuss in greater depth the reasoning and outcome of the two judgments i.e. the judgment of the Court of Appeal in The Miss Jay Jay [1987] 1 Lloyd s Rep 32, and of the Supreme Court judgment in The Cendor MOPU [2011] 1 Lloyd s Rep. 560, to see if they are an arguably sufficient justification for the view that the English marine insurance system rules on proximate causation should be repealed and replaced by a system similar to that used in the Nordic Marine Insurance Plan. 2.Proximate Causation 2.1Predominant or Efficient Cause The concept of proximate causation has a critical role in Marine Insurance Law. The Legality Of Planned Parenthood Abortion is a controversial topic in the United States, causing a split debate on the morality of allowing women to continue aborting babies up until 22 weeks of gestation and the argument that abortion should not be allowed on any circumstances excluding rape, incest or the health of the mother. These situations are complex and many women have strong opinions and they use the terms Prolife or Prochoice to explain their position on the matter. Planned Parenthood is the primary location where women can carry out the termination of their pregnancy. Abortionis always a political issue during election time so the legality of Planned Parenthood is constantly being inspected. Margaret Sanger started the birth control movement in the early 1910 s and advocated for the right of contraception during sex. After her founding of Parenthood in 1916, It led to major modifications in the laws governing birth control and sex education in the United States. Planned Parenthood originally went by the name Birth Control Clinical Research Bureau but later formed with the American Birth Control League (ABCL) which eventually evolved itself to become a center advocating for women s health with a primary focus on providing abortions for women ( History of Planned Parenthood ). Previously, this right was illegal for women, so they were forced to bear children for their husband, whom had a strong control over the woman. Changing Role Of Women During World War II Changing Role of Women in World War II When Britain declared war against Germany in 1939, the Australian Prime Minister, Robert Menzies, proclaimed that Australia was also at war. • 35. Iron Deficiency And Its Effects Researches done in the past have showed that iron deficiency can cause physiologic, morphologic, and biochemical changes in the orangs affected by it before there is a change in hematocrit (Beard JL, 2001). Iron is an essential micronutrient that is needed by the body because it is required for several neurological metabolic processes such as: myelination, cytokinesis, electron transport, antioxidant enzyme activity, and biogenic metabolism (Hyman, 2012). Iron also plays an important role in the developing central nervous system of an infant due to the fact that iron participates in a wide variety of cellular function and is essential for normal neural development and physiology (Hyman, 2012). Thus, iron deficiency during an infant s neurological development is a critical point because it can significantly impact a variety of behavioral and cognitive function. The part of the brain that is affected by iron depletion is the deep cerebral nuclei, substantia nigra, and basal ganglia (Hyman, 2012). These three parts of the brain are the ones that have the highest concentration of iron in an adult s brain and they are involved in the coordination and motor control of the body (Lozoff B, 2011). An iron deficient adult also shows a decrease in dopamine neurotransmission, which relates to the motor control (Lozoff B, 2011). Attaining Virtue in The Republic of Plato In the Republic of Plato, the philosopher Socrates lays out his notion of the good, and draws the conclusion that virtue must be attained before one can be good. For Socrates there are two kinds of virtue; collective and individual. Collective virtue is virtue as whole, or the virtues of the city. Individual virtuepertains to the individual himself, and concerns the acts that the individual does, and concerns the individual s soul. For Socrates, the relationship between individual and collective virtue is that they are the same, as the virtues of the collective parallel those of the Individual. This conclusion can be reached as both the city and the soul deal with the four main virtues of wisdom, courage, moderation, and justice. To be begin with, an individual cannot be good until they have attained the virtue of wisdom, and the same can be said for the city. For the individual, the person must not only be wise himself, but his soul must have wisdom. The only way to achieve this according to Socrates, is through for philosophy. In this way it is the same for the city, for in the city, wisdom lies with the guardians as they are the philosophers. The guardians are put in charge of the city because of their knowledge of how the city should be run. Because of this, the Guardians wisdom becomes the City s.
