Painted Veil Thesis
The tides of selfish desires are waning, never lasting for the wrong run. However, if they grow, and
progress into some grander want. Such a truth is evident in many relationships, whether they be
friendship or romance. In the movie The Painted Veil, this take on connections of people is further
explored in an intelligent way, although not in a satisfying way. By exploring the themes of this
movie, we can see how this bit of wisdom is not only explored, but demonstrated in a way that allows
us as the audience to see it in action. In The Painted Veil, one finds two young adults seeking
happiness in pursuing cravings centered on their selfish desires. The protagonist Kitty, for example,
was only concerned with living her life pursuing the London

Sur Surgeons Research Paper
Surgeons mostly work in a private practice or a public hospital. These medical professionals spend
time many settings: consulting rooms, operating theatres, wards and special units (e.g. emergency).
Surgeons are required to travel between offices and hospitals in order to address their patient s
concerns. Surgeons must work in sterile environments when performing surgeries as it benefits both
the patient(s) and the perioperative team, in terms of hygiene and personal health. Surgeons have a
number of risks and dangers; this contributes to why they receive such a high pay. These risk and
danger factors include: Commonly working with sharp instruments and dangerous equipment during
procedures incorrect use may result in serious injuries

The Modernist Attributes of C.L.R. James’s Minty Alley...
The Modernist Attributes of C.L.R. James s Minty Alley
Born in Trinidad and later expatriating himself first to London and then the United States, C.L.R.
James was a key figure of the West Indian literary scene during the 1930s. Today he is primarily
associated with his nonliterary writings in sociology and politics, and his fiction seems to have
dropped from critical attention. Part of this shortsightedness stems from the fact that little of his fiction
is readily available to a reading public in this country. Although a selection of his shorter work is now
available in The C.L.R. James Reader (1992), the only extant edition of James novel Minty Alley
(1936) is published by the small London press New Beacon Books. Because of its ... Show more

In part, my desired shift of critical focus is a response against the predominant tendency in Anglo
American literary studies of underestimating the formal experimentation of early twentieth century
Caribbean writing. Critics tend to construct narratives in which British, American, and continental
European writers set the standard for and carry out the work of producing modernist experimentation.
Those few critics who have turned their attention to James fiction continue to follow suit of this
general critical trend. Paget Henry and Paul Buhle have remarked that this author s value lies in his
status as an anti colonial writer, an identity that they believe to be affirmed by Minty Alley because of
the careful artistic representation [that it] gives to the lives of working class Trinidadians and its
affirmation of the creative self projections that such individuals established in relation to their world
(122). James did envision his novel as a populist one, affirming his own mothers s adage that [t]o
write forblack people in the Caribbean was a distinction (James interviewedin Henry and Buhle 57).
But does its accessibility to a contemporary audience preclude the incorporation of experimental
elements? Aldon Lynn Nielsen, a prominent promoter of James s workin this country, perpetuates the

Standardization Of Entry Into Nursing Practice
This paper explores five journal articles gathered from The Future of Nursing: Leading Change,
Advancing Health, The Journal of Nursing Education, Journal of Professional Nursing, Nurse
Education Today, and The Online Journal of Issues in Nursing regarding the standardization of entry
into nursing practice. The greatest challenge in the nursing profession today continues to be the lack of
cohesion and agreement on how to proceed in the future of nursing. This paper will discuss the
American Nurses Association s (ANA) 1965 position on entry into the nursing practice, the current
discussions on entry and advancements in the nursing profession, and the current challenges in nursing
education. In order to gain cohesion and unity within the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All states hold different standards in regards to entry into nursing practice. Begging the question, are
nurses adequately prepared for the healthcare field and what does this mean for the future of the
nursing profession? The unified standard of entry into nursing practice is a must for the growth of the
nursing profession. This paper will review the ANA s 1965 position on entry into the nursing practice,
the current discussions on entry and advancements in the nursing profession, and the current
challenges in nursing education. American Nurses Associations 1965 position In 1963, the U.S.
Surgeon General s Consultant Group on Nursing identified a nationwide nursing shortage. This led to
the Comprehensive Nurse Training Act of 1964 that created nurse education and training programs
and also supplied grant funds for student loans, nursing school, and education grants (Smith, 2009). A
year later the Comprehensive Nurse Training Act led to the American Nurses Association Committee
on Education to look at nursing education, practice, scope, and responsibilities. While looking into
nursing education, concerns were raised about hospital based diploma programs and the increasing
complexity of healthcare. As a result, the American Nurses Association s (ANA) released their 1965
position paper on entry into nursing practice. In their 1965 position paper the ANA recommended

Hypnagogic Jerks
Alter sleep position: Some people may have success in altering their sleep position from supine (on
the back) to sleeping on the side or stomach. Sleeping on the back has been associated with a variety
of odd sleep experiences and phenomena. It should be theorized that altering your sleep position may
decrease likelihood of hypnagogic jerks.
Bed firmness: It should be considered that a more firm or less firm bed may influence brain activity
prior to falling asleep. Those on a less firm bed may receive less muscular stimulation and thus feel as
if they are falling or floating, which causes a jerk. Similarly those with extremely firm sleeping
surfaces may end up with overstimulated musculature, leading to nerve misfirings and provoking a
reflexive startle twitch.

Regardless of whether the stimulant is a pharmaceutical drug or legal drug like caffeine, these agents
may increase likelihood of hypnagogic jerks. If you want to decrease the jerks, you may want to
reduce, eliminate or consume stimulants only within specific windows of time (e.g. the early
morning).
Pharmaceutical drugs or supplements: In some cases, taking a pharmaceutical drug to help with sleep
quality may simultaneously reduce or eliminate hypnagogic jerks from your life. In other cases, taking
the right supplements may result in a similar effect. If you need medication for your sleep or a
supplement (e.g. melatonin), you may find that they decrease the jerking.
Regimented sleep schedule: By sticking with a regimented or strict sleep schedule, your circadian
rhythm should adapt. Those with variable sleep schedules may have a circadian rhythm that isn t
aligned with their sleep schedule, thus resulting in all types of physiological chaos. Decreasing this
physiological chaos with a good sleep schedule may also reduce the

Rhetorical Techniques In Fight Club
Lit Analysis Paper In Chuck Palahniuk s novel Fight Club the main character is in fact never named
throughout the book. He s never called by his name or even speaks of it. We re forced to view in the
3rd person, the events and life of this character and the battle he endeavors with insomnia and the
suspicions friends that he meets. Tyler Durden comes along when the narrator is in need of a friend
and turns out being a terrible influence, but is his closest friend. It was his idea to start the fight club to
let out frustrations and anger of everyday guys that want to walk into their boss s office and upper cut
them. Palahniuk s usage of imagery, diction, and foreshadowing shows the physical, and
psychological, battle that the narrator is enduring. The title of the novel suggest that the entirety of the

Its the bridge that connects one idea to another. All night long I was dreaming I was humping Marla
Singer. (56). This is the first noticeable piece of foreshadowing in the novel when you re left confused,
why was it written in the first place. The narrator claims to have a strong dislike for Marla, that is
reaffirmed in later pages of the book. It was written to show the split of the narrator s psyche. How the
narrator is slowly deteriorating mentally from holding in two personalities and the other one being
strongly destructive. The erosion to his mental stability is also evident with the little tangents that the
narrator takes that often show how out of touch he is. The imagery to foreshadowing connection is not
uncommon in Fight Club, is a strategy that is comfortable for Palahniuk to use to get his point across;
only after you cross a very winding road to eventually get to his point of intent. The intent is so
noticeable when you realize it. You feel stupid you didn t see it before, was just so well

The Problem Of Differential Equations
Predicting the future is a big topic that many people have attempted and failed. Many people try to
predict things such as the end of the world, the next stock market crash, and the weather. Many people
are also scared of the future and wonder what it will hold, such as the prophet Jonah. When the Lord
told Jonah to go to Nineveh, he was terrified of the future and fled from the Lord. God later showed
Jonah that he is the only one in control and Jonah couldn t run from God. Christians believe that there
is only one person that is in control of the future and can predict it, and that would be God. While they
know this to be certain, mathematicians believe that by using math, specifically differential equations,
they can predict how things such as population, the stock market, and the weather can be somewhat
accurately predicted. In order to decide whether differential equations can predict future events, it is
important to know exactly what a differential equation is. A differential equation is an equation
involving derivatives of a function or functions.. The functions usually represent some quantities, and
the derivatives represent their rates of change. The differential equation that results from the two
relates the derivative and the function to be used as a productive equation. The rate of change
according to time can be a pivotal part in trying to predict some aspects of the future. When
mathematicians think of using differential equations to predict

Portfolio Project
We changed our strategy after the first interim report. We realized that it is hard to use bottom up
approach to invest by looking into a particular stock to invest. Right now, we are trying to use top
down approach to invest in our portfolio. Top down approach is a method of analysis that involves
looking at the big picture first, and then analyzing the details of sector or industry then towards the
company or stocks. By first analyzing the overall picture, such as a macroeconomic trend, we can start
narrowing potential companies to invest.

goods and service stocks and energy stocks just as ours does. I think one of the reason our portfolio
hasn t performed well enough is because our portfolio has a potential correlations and hasn t been
diversified enough.
The stocks we picked are all that we know about, which we think has the potential to grow in the
future. We had Nokia, Apple, Google, At amp;T, Cisco, Intel for Tech stock, and we had RDS, ETP,
Duke, for energy, and Wells Fargo amp;co and Coca Cola for consumer goods and services. There are
some particular stocks that we d like to talk about: I, Lijing Lu, actually believe that Nokia is going to

The Ideal Household By Xenophon
The purpose of The Ideal Household as told by Xenophon, a student of Socrates, was to show the
reader how an elite Athenian lady lived as well as to show what an ideal marriage looked like.
Xenophon wanted to convey to the readers what he thought an ideal marriage looked like and also
what he generally thought most marriages in Athens were. The overall message of this source is not
explicit in nature, but does offer a subtle yet firm message on how women in Athens were expected to
behave. Wives of elite men were often expected to fully run the household while dedicating their lives
to their husbands and family. The work the women put into their family and households was a full
time job that was usually never noticed or acknowledged outside of the household. Xenophon
conveyed his message of what he thought an ideal marriage and household was by asking an Athenian
gentleman questions about his marriage and life. The man offered insight into his and his wife s life
and he spoke about how he lived a relaxed life while his wife attended to most if not all the household
duties. Xenophon seemed worried about what this man actually did with his life and the man replied
that he does not spend my days indoors, if for no other reason than because my wife can manage all
our domestic affairs without my aid. . ( ) The man made it very clear that he has in a way trained his
wife to run their household while he does whatever he pleases. Xenophon was very interested by this
and wondered

Should School Start Later Persuasive Essay
What time do you get up to get ready for school? Do you wake up at the last minute and have to rush?
Some people may say that school starts too early, and in all reality it does. Students minds are never
fully awake at eight a.m.. They may not give themselves enough time to eat breakfast. May not be
getting enough sleep. Maybe they don t have a ride. Are the teachers even ready? If school started an
hour later would there be as many tardies? Pushing the start time back an hour may be beneficial for
students and teachers. Some kids are not able to drive themselves to school. Whether it be they are out
of gas, no car, or not even eligible to drive. If they were to wake up late, and miss the bus, or other
transportation, it may take them a while to get to school. Whether they have to walk or whether they
have to find someone else to take them. Either way they will most likely be late, and miss class time.
If school were pushed back an hour it would give them enough time to make it to class on time. No
excuses. You may think that if they do it with this time, that they will do it if changed too. In all reality
they can wake up at the same time and not be rushed to get to school. Also have time to eat breakfast,
and maybe find another ride. Say that they were to wake up at seven fifty. That would give them
enough time to shower if needed, eat, play on their phone, and get to school. Allowing them to be on
time to their first hour class, and be able to chat with friends before

They have a thick layer of blubber which helps them maintain their body heat and protects them from
predators such as killer whales and large sharks. They have sensitive, smooth skin that flakes off and

Despite the fact that they live underwater and can hold their breath for up to 7 minutes, dolphins must
come to the surface to breathe air. A muscular flap covers their blowhole while underwater and opens
to exhale once they reach the surface. Dolphins can exhale air at 160 km/hr (100 mph). When they
inhale, they can exchange up to 80% of the contents of their lungs. Humans, by comparison, only
exchange 17% of the air in their lungs when they breathe.
Dolphins aren t involuntary breathers like humans. They must consciously swim to the surface to take
a breath. This means they can never fully sleep. One side of their brain must always be active so that
they remember to breathe. Although they have little to no sense of smell, bottlenose dolphins have

Effects Of Gambling On The United States
Gambling in the United States has been fought over for years. The outcomes of gambling have been
good, however they have also been bad as well. Between land ownership over where gambling can
occur and the outlaw of gambling itself, it has not been an easy topic of discussion. Within these
disputes, most of them include conflicts amongst Native Americans and our federal government. In an
article from the California Research Bureau stated by Roger Danstan, Indian tribes have used their
position as sovereign entities to develop a number of gaming establishments. However, The growth of

Among the restrictions of gambling, it can be clearly pointed out that there are some exceptions to

This allows gambling, however it could only be on land that belongs to the Native Americans. Aside
from the current conflicts with gambling, there are revenues generated from it that contribute to our
government. In the same article written by Roger Danstan, he goes on to clarify that, Illegal gaming is
popular, though its popularity and prevalence are difficult to measure. An estimated $32 billion was
wagered illegally in 1986, resulting in gross revenues of approximately $5.6 billion, ( Introduction of
Gambling ). Illegal gambling tends to be the most popular of gambling because it mostly generates the
highest revenues. It seems to offer a completely different way for the government and our nation to
receive some sort of a steady income. There are many other forms of gambling in the United States
other than just typical card games, the sub categories of gambling that aren t quite as popular as forms
such as lotteries and casino gaming, include pari mutuel wagering and charitable gambling. Defined

The Philosophy Of Mind And The Body
Philosophy of mind had come across when philosophers had an idea of the concepts regarding the
human mind and its mysteries. This branch of psychology had intended to elaborate and study the
nature and aspects of the human mind, also how these concepts such as mental events, mental
functions and consciousness would connect to each other, through the human brain and body.
Philosophy of mind became one of the central areas of philosophy as the skills and abilities of
metalizing are used to treat individuals as the bearers of unobservable psychological states and
processes, and in order to anticipate and explain the individual s behavior in terms of states.
Dualism, a philosophy most defended by Rene Descartes, Believed that there are two concepts to
philosophy, regarding the mind and the body. Dualism, is possibly the oldest and the most intuitive of
the philosophies of mind, however within the modern psychology, this philosophy is a minority view
among psychologists. This theory states that the mental cannot exist outside of the body, and the body
is unable to think. It refers to reality as two distinct kind of things Mental and material things. Dualists
often believe in different concepts regarding how these would relate to each other. Dualists fall into a
variety of camps depending on how they would believe the mind and the body is related.
Interactionists see that the mental events have effects or can cause the physical effects. Epiphenomena
believe in a compromise

the value in having an understanding of developmentally appropriate practices and how can help
teachers guide young children?
Mistaken Behaviors
Mistaking behavior is a comprehensive guidance that professional teachers are developing to assist
children through difficult situations. This guidance approach recognizes that children are in a process
of development where they are learning skills to live in a democratic life, during this process children
has many mistakes that are reflected at their behavior. The importance of this this concept is that
teachers can understand that children can make mistakes, and they can learn from them. Instead,

Maybe they feel hungry, sick or tired. They have lack knowledge or experience. They feel stressed
(something wrong or new is happening at house).
Misbehavior
This discipline concept suggests that the children are doing intentional mistakes and teachers must
discipline and punish to the child. At this wrong guidance teachers label children who misbehave
calling names such as naughty bad mean rowdy , and also punish the child. Teachers who do this
practice think that when the child get shame they will be behave good. These negative labels can
affect with bad consequences to their behavior. The child will believe that they are the wrong label
given.
As Ginott wrote in Teacher and Child (1972), Firmness without harshness is essential in guidance. The
adult who intervenes in the face of mistaken behavior often must be firm, but must be firm and
friendly not firm and harsh . The goal is to help children learn positive social skills from their
mistakes; punish discipline cannot achieve this.

My hunger grew intensely as I did not pack any food for what I thought was a short journey regretting
my action I continued on.
Beatrice and I stopped by a creek for a short rest; we lay together under a tree and l looked up
somehow mesmerized by the dark clouds, lost in my own thoughts I fell into a deep slumber. Unaware
of the time I woke up dumbstruck as heavy rain shoots down from the sky and gustily wind pushing
hard against my face with the sound of thunder crackling all around me. Beatrice and I struggling to
get up we hurried to our carriage and quickly took refuge, with our clothes wet and damp we waited
for the unforgiving rain to end. With much luck the horrific storm lasted for only a couple more
minutes which was a huge relief but had made us fallen behind schedule. We step out of the carriage
soaking wet as we hurried to change and quickly continued with no time to spare.
Hungry we were Beatrice and I decided that we should stop by an inn hoping to find some food
though we have been riding for so long that we don t know for sure if we were travelling in the right
direction relying on my experience we went on. Beatrice than asked me sweetie are you sure this is the
right way we been travelling for so long, the feast starts tomorrow evening and we need to be there by
tonight , I replied I m pretty sure this is the way don t give your hopes up we ll make it there in time . I

The Side Effects Of Food Additives On Frozen Food
Case 1 When good results are bad results Professor Ballistico is developing a research that is looking
for the side effects of food additives in frozen food; the project itself is producing good publications.

stakeholders about the problem, so he can avoid the problem in the future and all of them together take

There is an issue with the Roxy Palace Casino and their affiliate program that has caused the casino to
be blacklisted or considered rogue . This issue has been a concern since the middle of April 2013, in
which the affiliate program has been closing accounts of their affiliate partners. Claiming lack of
promotion as the reason behind the account closures, the Roxy Affiliates management responded that
the shut out affiliates were no longer feasible and not effective bringing in new players. As a result
Roxy Palace has been placed on the Blacklisted and Rogue casinos resource, because their claims
were unfounded and untrue. Many of the casino webmasters who have had their accounts closed had

Racial Discrimination Past, Present, And Future
Racial Discrimination Past, Present, and Future
Civil rights activist Al Sharpton said, We have come a long way from the days of slavery, but in 2014,
discrimination and inequality still saturate our society in modern ways . This quote rings true where
equality in the workplace is concerned. In Toni Cade Bambara s short story The Lesson , we see what
social discrimination looks like through the eyes of children who are observing a wealthier part of
town. In their eyes, they see and injustice and question why it is not being altered into something
centered more on equality and equal opportunity. Toni Cade Bambara s story The Lesson is written to
make a point about racial discrimination in the workplace and social inequality.
In Bambara s short story, we are told the tale of several kids who are being taken for a day out by Miss
Moore, a woman in their neighborhood. Along the way, she gives them lessons about how to handle
money and to pay fairly. She also teaches them that just by saving, they can eventually get what they
want. While she talks away, the kids observe their surroundings. They feel out of place in the wealthy
neighborhood that Miss Moore has brought them to in the story. Something that helped show there
was judgment and a feeling of uneasiness, was when one of the children stated, But what I got to be
shamed about? Got as much right to go in as anybody (Bambara). This was said when they were
walking into the toy store. The children could sense hate or

Mark Keppel Key Club Is Flourishing
As of today, which community considered flourishing and what is presented in showing the
flourishing? Before we get to choose which community affected, we as readers have to define
flourishing. In Phelps definition of flourishing he quotes that, human flourishing requires challenges,
struggles, and success that goes beyond the material of prosperity. (Friedman quoted in Liberty of
Economics and Liberty) Phelps describes flourishing as prosperity in two components. Phelps first
component is growth in wages and productivity. Phelps second component is flourishing. Phelps
defines the term of flourishing in his words as prosperity, innovation, creativity because the essence of
flourishing , human beings are desired in expressing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another example that Mark Keppel Key Club did participated in gift wrapping presents before the
Christmas holiday to families that could not afford it. Phelps states community in the past decades has
not flourished is not true because all ideas created by human beings are filled with creativity and
innovation. In Franklin D. Roosevelt inaugural address, he stated that, Happiness lies not in the mere
possession of money, but lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort. (Roosevelt
quoted in Friedman 1) Roosevelt says that the importance of work is joy and moral stimulation should
not be forgotten in the replacement of money profits. Even though our government went through these
challenges, struggles and success, Mark Keppel Key Club still managed to improve and find other
solutions in achieving the goal to keep on the right path. Motivation plays a role in flourishing of any
community because without flourishing people would not put that much effort in achieving what they
want. A community with motivation can benefit the club as well as yourself because it will encourage
others to try new things. Motivation helps Mark Keppel Key Club by encouraging others to make a
change in showing those who are suffering that you care. Motivation is important to Mark Keppel Key
Club because it makes the club stronger, including showing them how strong they are and encourage

Planned Parenthood By Margaret Sanger
The first birth control clinic in the United States opened on October 16, 1916 by Margaret Sanger. Her
nonprofit organization is now known as Planned Parenthood. Sanger was not only an advocate for
women s reproductive rights, but also a vocal eugenic enthusiast. Her motives behind starting the
organization were to educate women about the reproductive process allowing them to choose when
and whether to bear children. Although Sanger supported the eugenics movement and sterilization, we
cannot forget about all of the men and women her organization helped and continues to help to this
day.
Growing up Sanger s father was an unstable man who was incapable of providing adequately for his
large family. Although a skilled craftsman, he was unable to properly care for his family because he
preferred drinking over earning a steady wage, while his 11 children suffered bitterly from privation.
Once Sanger grew older she fled her unhappy home in search for a better life. She attended college
and found it was not for her and later met her husband who she had 3 children with. Sanger detested
domestic life and neglected her children to the point that neighbors had to step in and care for them (
Margaret Sanger ). It is safe to say Sanger did not have it easy growing up. Living such a rough
childhood can be partial to blame for her eugenic views.
Sanger s upbringing may be the underlying cause for her support in the eugenic movement. She may
have felt her inability to care for her own

Descriptive Essay About Winter
While all the season have their ups and downs, each season gives off its own tone to me. Let s start off
with my least favorite season: winter. The cold temperature of winter always reminds me of when I
got hit in the head with a golf club. It was a warm summer day in mid August. The smell of pollen and
honey floated through the air; the smell was so thick, I could taste it. The bright sun blared down on
me, and I could feel the intense heat radiating from it. The sound of birds chirping up in the thick
green tree, and a light breeze blowing was all I could hear. Everything was peaceful until out of
nowhere, one of my friends screams, Look out! just in time for me to turn around and see a golf club
come barreling towards my face. I had no time to move, because within an instant, I was on the
ground holding my forehead. This experience reminds me of winter because the transition from fall to
winter comes faster than a speeding bullet train. The cold especially reminds me of this, because
whenever I step outside from the warm comforts of my home; I always feel a blast of frigid cold air on
my face. The only good part about winter would be the joy of Christmas, days out of school from
snow, and getting to spend time with my family.
Spring on the other hand, is a lot warmer and more hopeful than winter. To me, spring is like when I
would wake up on Christmas as a young child. The sunlight beamed through a crack in my curtains,
waking me up. The sweet scent of cinnamon and

Planning Your Kid s Party
Planning your kid s birthday party can be a lot of fun. Kids birthday games form a major part of this
planning. They not only make a party memorable, but also serve as ice breakers for those shy kids
who might not know the others in the room. Here s a list of some fun party games which are sure to
make your kid s party a success. And what s more, they re quite economical too!
1. Pass the hurdle
You ll be amazed to find out that kids love to compete with each other. One of the best ways to add
some zing to your child s birthday party is to organise your own Common Wealth Games! Place some
hurdles across the room or the garden. Hula hoops, small stools, cushions, etc can be a part of the
hurdles. The kid who crosses the hurdles and reaches the finish line first is the winner. Award him a
gold medal (a chocolate disc wrapped in gold foil). You can similarly award the silver and bronze
winner too.
Tip: Make sure the hurdles are of the right size and height for the age group of your guests. Avoid
using objects for hurdles that have sharp edges. 2. Bite em off
Get fruity with your next game. Buy small apples or pear with stems basically enough fruit so that
each child has one. Before the party begins, tie a string to all the fruits. Now string them up to objects
so that the fruit dangles. Every child has to stand under the fruit and try to take a bite out of it without
using his or her hand. It may seem like an easy game, but soon the kids will realise that it s a task to

The Energy Of Fossil Fuels
The capability to yoke energy sources and put them toward dynamic use has engaged a vital role in
economic development globally. The industrial revolution in Europe was motivated in share by the
usage of coal to power steam engines for water and rail transportation, to simplify iron casting, and to
power looms and other industrial gear (Michael Roberts, 67). Prolonged use of effortlessly available
oil aided to fuel nonstop expansion in the twentieth century. Agricultural assembly was converted by
the use of motor powered farm gear and petroleum based fertilizers and pesticides. Trucks, airplanes
and cars powered by oil products transformed the transportation of goods and people. Electricity,
mainly powered by coal and to a smaller degree oil and natural gas, funded to the additional
automation of engineering and made possible the expansion of abundant electricity powered
technologies (Michael Roberts, 75).
Although fossil fuels have aided incentive economic development, the fast consumption of fossil fuels
has also added to environmental damage, and could end up with higher prices in the future. The
drilling, mining and transportation of fossil fuels can lead to the elimination of mountaintops, the
pollution of ground water with methane, and oil spills that plunder beaches and oceans. The burning
of fossil fuels can release chemicals that add to acid rain, smog and mercury contamination. These
instantaneous environmental costs also go along with two prominent worries about

The Servant Labor System In Colonial America
During the seventeenth century, the colonists confronted poverty epidemic by creating the servant
labor system in which indentured servants and slaves provided labor work that directly and positively
affected the colonial economy. Although servants and slaves were the main source in keeping the
economic system of colonial America steady, they had such low social standings that Colonies and
masters had become accustomed to abusing and mistreating them. In addition, in 1669, a law had been
passed that enabled masters, free white men, to legally hunt and murder slaves if a rebellion were to
occur ( Virginia Servant and Slave Laws, in Handout Set, p. 3). This law, along with many more in
Virginia Servant and Slave Laws, allowed masters to remain dominant over servants and slaves which
historically is the root for the racial ideology of white supremacy and created countless racial equality
rebellions and movements. During this time, slaves were put up to be auctioned and once they were
sold, they lived the rest of their lives providing labor for their masters. Due to such entitlement,
masters would take advantage of it along with the laws being passed to profit off their servants and
slaves. According to a particular law that had in been passed in 1662, it states ...Be it therefore enacted
and declared... that all children borne in this country shalbe held bond [slave] or free only according to
the condition of the mother ( Virginia Servant and Slave Laws, in Handout Set, p.

The five main characters involved in Paper Towns. They are Quentin Jacobsen, Margo Spiegelman,
Ben Starling, Radar Lincoln, and Lacey Pemberton. All five characters connect back to the main
theme of the story, which is that people change over time and they chase after what they want in life,
no matter what they leave behind. Quentin is symbolized as a paperboy because he is one of the
people who has a monotonous life and is an ordinary person. In the book, Margo tells Quentin, All the

In the book, Radar says to Quentin, I search for her name everyday; I ve got a bot that will alert me if
she ever logs on to Omnictionary with that username. I track IP addresses of people who search for the

Quentin during his road trip to Agloe. In the book, Lacey describes Margo, I honestly never thought of

The Use Of Intrauterine Devices ( Iud )
The use of intrauterine devices (IUD) by women is commonplace. Worldwide, IUDs are the most used
method of contraception, used by almost one fourth of all female contraceptive users. The typical
indication for IUDs is as a method of long acting reversible contraception. Intrauterine devices are
effective, safe, easy to insert and relatively inexpensive (Dean Goldberg, 2016). Therefore, in treating
women of childbearing years, the Nurse Practitioner will educate this patient population about the
risks and benefits of the IUD, as well as the risks and expected side effects. The NP can provide a
group of questions to the patient and mate to determine the appropriate choice of contraception. (See
table 1).
Prior to the consideration of the insertion of an IUD, the patient must have a negative pregnancy test,
and no active cervical, vaginal or bladder infections. The patient cannot have an untreated abnormal
PAP smear, active liver disease, breast cancer or an compromised immune system. Intrauterine devices
(IUD) are constructed from plastic in the United States (US). Worldwide, however, steel is also used.
Currently, the categories of IUDs in the US are: copper releasing, progesterone releasing or inert.
Except for the unmedicated type, the IUDs release either copper or progesterone in order to potentiate
the effectiveness of the intrauterine device. There are four types of IUDs available in the United
States. The copper IUD is named ParaGuard and is approved by the FDA for

Beautiful, isn t it? Now what if someone told you that the tranquil grass park that you are gazing at is,
in reality, a cemetery? That is exactly how the New York Marble Cemetery is. Located behind the
Bowery Hotel, this cemetery, which was founded in the year 1830, does not contain tombstones.
Instead, the dead are buried in underground marble vaults here, which are marked by plaques. This is
why most people, who admire the beauty of this place, are ignorant of its other secret. The place is
usually closed for visitors, except for a few hours on the fourth Sundays in the months of April
October.

Essay about Funeral
Funeral Personal Narrative I gaze around. I see one family, brought together, to mourn for one of our

change the wretchedness I feel. We leave, what seems to me, not a holy church, but more of a devil s
palace. But the worst is yet to come. Still shedding tears I climb into the hearse, my eyes fixed upon

Our car reduces speed and the driver climbs out. I think to myself, This is no gate . A gate would be an

hopes and dreams are crushed into minute pieces of terror and misery, as the hearse driver opens the
door. Resistance is pointless. We are already here. A foot away from the gates of fire. I push open the
gate upon its rusty hinges. Though, I know, cemeteries are supposed to be depressing and solemn
places, this is out of the ordinary. I am welcomed by an old, decrepit yet elegant chapel, that has been

remains of a derelict altar. I continue on, picking up my drained feet off the grassy surface from under
them. They are comforted by the pleasantness of a spongy carpet of autumn leaves. A mosaic of
infinite colors. A mild breeze slithers past my face and cools me throughout as we enter a kingdom of
beauty. My eyes ascend up into the branches of an oak that has past its prime, but nothing can steal the

This short paper will evaluate whether or not a priori knowledge is possible. The questions regarding
the objections to the possibility of a priori knowledge are discussed, as are the possible resolutions to
such objections with a focus on Hilary Putnam s theory of contextual apriority. The nature of apriority
in mathematics will also be examined and its possible absolute a priori status. A short deliberation
regarding whether or not apriority obtains will conclude this paper, but before these are discussed the
meaning of a priori knowledge must be considered.
The Token Forms of Apriority A priori knowledge is generally understood as knowledge that is
independent of our experience with it. Unlike a posteriori knowledge that requires experience to

2. Language The Tower of Babel is symbolic of the fundamental differences between humans and
gods. Humans are not meant to be completely self sufficient as God is, they should look upon God for
guidance in their life. This message was ignored in the construction of the tower in which the two
main motivations were to gain fame and to build a city to preserve unity (Interpreter s Concise
Commentary, 17). Humans should never have the arrogance to try to become gods on earth through
fame. Further, one should only preserve unity if that is God s plan.
Even this looming, powerful structure pales in comparison to the greatness that God can accomplish,
i.e. Humans can never reach the awesomeness and power of God.

4. Intended Audience The intended audience for this pericope is clearly Jews during the Babylonian
exile of 587 B.C. 538 B.C. This is seen in the setting of the story, the apocalyptic genre of the excerpt,
and the detailed explanation of the building of the tower. This story is set in the land of Shinar
(Genesis 11:2). Shinar is described as meaning Babylonia, the ancient state resting in the Tigris
Euphrates river basin. Further, within the state of Babylonia, was the northern city of Babylon. The
setting of Babylon for this ancient tradition indicates a 6th century, exiled Jewish audience as it
establishes a basis for an apocalyptic message about their exile. The detailed description of the brick
making process and bitumen (Genesis 11:3) also indicates a Jewish audience. A Jewish audience
would have been familiar with sun dried bricks, with no archeological evidence of kiln fired bricks at
this time in Palestine (Walton, 163). Mesopotamia however used expensive bitumen almost
exclusively with kiln fired bricks (Walton, 163). Further these expensive building materials would
have only been used for places, temples and other official buildings within a city (Walton, 163). The
authors need to describe this practice indicates an audience new to this land and practice. Further, it s

Reflection Pool Theme
For both The Reflecting Pool and Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives , there is a focus on
spirituality as a common theme. Bill Viola creates many videos which include a lot of illusions in
them. For this particular one on The Reflecting Pool, the angle of the camera stays the same the entire
time and only the subjects move around. In this video art there isn t a dialogue but we can mostly hear
sounds of running water. For Apichatpong Weerasethakul s film, a dialogue is included, however we
can very clearly also hear sounds of flora and fauna throughout the film.
Viola s video manipulates the perception of the viewers. There is a freeze frame of a man doing a

We can also see Bill Viola making use of nature in The Reflecting Pool, be it sounds or visuals.
I also feel like the mood of both the film and the video art are quite similar. They both show a sense of
calmness and tranquility. Some symbols that add to that mood would be the use of nature in the film
and video. Water and plants seem to feel very serene. Especially in the film on Uncle Boonmee, even
though death and ghosts appear in the film, it does not feel very scary or make us feel anxious in any
way. I think the use of nature in the film helps to set the preferred mood.
Apart from the stories, we can also discuss the technical portion of both the film and video.
Comparing the length of both movies, we can obviously see that the film was much longer than the
video art. However, we can tell that they go at the same pace as they are both generally quite slow
moving. For the colors used I felt that Uncle Boonmee used more natural colors and lighting and it felt
slightly dull. However for The Reflecting Pool I think it felt slightly brighter, even though it was

Sense Of Belonging Essay
Sense of belonging and interpersonal connectivity is widely researched topics in psychology, but
researches have disagreed on the significance of sense of belonging (Ma, 2003). Likewise, sense of
belonging has been defined in various ways. According to Vallerand, sense of belonging has to do
with the feeling of connectivity with others in the same environment, often involves the identification
of one s self with a particular group. When a sense of belonging is well established among students,
they feel accepted, loved and respected, which influence their self image and beliefs (Booker, 2004;
Goodenow, 1993). Baumeister and Leary (1995) acknowledged that sense of belonging has two

The feeling of belonging might have a direct impact on students motivation and academic
achievement (Goodenow, 1993a). For example, when a sense of belonging is achievable within the
student s social interactions, there is a belief and determination which drives them to seek to prove
their worth both outside and within the academic setting (Goodenow, 1993a). Several studies revealed
that there is a significant relationship between sense of belonging and students academic performance
(Booker, 2006; Akar vural et al., 2013). Students academic effort and school success are affected not
only by individual differences in skill or ability but are also influenced by social relationships at
school. Goodenow investigated the relationship between the sense of belonging among students and
their expectations, harbored values, motivation level, and achievement in several studies. The
researcher also examined the relationship between sense of school membership, expectancy of
success, value, and effort . Findings in both studies showed that there was a strong correlation between

Online Class Vs. Traditional Classes
Many more people would enjoy school if it was convenient to their time. A great solution to this
problem is online classes. Some wonder if online classes are just as educational as traditional classes,
and if the discussions are as easy to understand without the face to face interaction with the instructor.
In this paper I will be discussing how online classes can be just as educational and are more
convenient to those who have busy schedules. The points of comparison are assignments, testing and
materials, convenience and interaction/discussions. First, the assignments for both classes both require
resource materials like text books. For traditional class students the assignments are homework , but
online students do all of their work at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Traditional classes offer a more face to face social interaction and allow students to meet fellow
classmates easier than those who are taking online classes. The discussion for online classes is based
on comments and emails sent between each other. Those in online classes are barely able to talk to
professors due to slow feedback and they are not able to communicate easily with classmate unless
they reach out through chat rooms or emails. This is difficult because students are unaware of others
schedules and it is harder to reach out because they may be busy at the times you are not. An
advantage of online classes is you are able to learn from professors around the world which allows
you to broaden your perspective and learn from different viewpoints. Overall, the only major
difference between online and traditional classes is the interaction. Traditional classes give more
interaction between your teacher and classmates, compared to online classes. Online classes can be
harder depending on what kind of learner you are, due to the lack of face to face interaction between
the student and professor. Online classes are more convenient to your time and they are just as
educational. Both kinds of classes have tests and assignments just in a different learning

Foreign Affairs And Foreign Trade
MEMORANDUM
To: Honorable Maxine McClean, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade
From: Monica Perez
Date: November 14, 2015
RE: Engaging in trilateral cooperation: Mitigating the Chinese threat to U.S. hegemony in Latin
America
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
Barbados is a net importing developing country (NIDC) with food imports significantly exceeding
food exports. As in most Caribbean islands, domestic agricultural output and food processing is
limited. Barbados relies on imports of practically the full range of food products to meet the needs of
its population. In fact, Barbados imports 70% of its food, over a third of which comes from the United
States. As a result, food security in terms of food self sufficiency and self reliance is severely lacking.
Moreover, the expanding tourism sector further fuels the demand for U.S. food products. U.S. exports
to Barbados of snacks, dairy products, processed fruits vegetables, fruit vegetable juices, and seafood
products have all registered increases since 2010. Fresh, chilled and frozen red meat products are also
an important product category which increased by 150% since 2010. These food imports, particularly
those of processed foods, are often associated with increasing weight and higher rates of chronic non
communicable diseases (obesity, diabetes, hypertension, stroke, heart disease, and cancer). Within the
Barbadian population, the increased consumption of animal fats, sugar products and salt from
processed foods has led

Similarities Between Hills And Dale
Tata:
In an organization, the flow of information in different direction creates the communication network.
Network could be of many different types but broadly it could be of two types internal communication
network and external communication network. Internal communication network is consisted of all
kinds of communication within the organization. All the internal stakeholders of the company conduct
their communication through this network. External communication network, on the other hand, is the
network for the outside stakeholders of the company. Outside stakeholder could be the society,
government, educational institutions etc. An organization always try to regulate the network strictly
and mange it accordingly to ensure the proper flow of information. Internal communication:

First of all, the nature of these two organizations is totally different. Therefore, the products and
services offered by these companies are different. Hence, the organogram and organizational structure
of these companies are not the same. For example, TCS conducts supply chain management services
which need a long chain of management. But in case of Hills and Dales, the nature of the service
requires short chain of management eg childcare, residence service etc. Hence, for Hills and Dales,
internal communication network is shorter vertically than that of TCS.
Another difference in internal communication system is that, there is less peer interaction for Hills and
Dales. For example, an employee who is working for Hills and Dales in a childcare center will not be
communicated with other employees of other centers such as residential centers. But in case of TCS,
there is a higher chance of peer interaction as employees of different departments work together in
near proximity. Therefore, in case of TCS, the horizontal communication network is relatively

Context Of Public Administration
Public administration and its role within the context of U.S. democracy and politics is complicated due
to the division amongst Americans and power held by political parties. The main objective of public
administration is to serve the people and protect individual freedoms from big government. However,
American citizens make it difficult to fulfill this objective by voicing their opinions on how they want
to be served and how the government should be run. The division amongst Americans has been an
integrated part of our government since its inception.
In the late 18th century, the Founding Fathers were divided over their opinions of what the size and
how much power the national government should have. The Constitution was formed over disputes
and disagreements which is evident in the publication of the Federalist Papers. The Federalist Papers
exposed the heavily debated battle for the approval of the Constitution. (Box, 2014) The battle to get
the Constitution ratified was almost lost due to different opinions on how the government should be
run. The ratification of the Constitution is an integrated part of our government s history that shows
the complexity and complication of public administration.
Kraft Furlong (2018) speak of Americans being ideologically conservative but liberal in practice to
government service. (p. 40). Americans are conflicted about what type of government they want. They
want to maintain their individual liberties and minimize the power of the

Manic Depression Research Paper
Manic Depression, or more commonly known as Bipolar disorder, is a disorder that causes the patient
affected to cycle through periods of depression and mania (NIMH n.d.). There are three general types
of Bipolar Disorder and then a fourth category for those who do not fall within any of the previous
categories. Bipolar I Disorder is defined by manic episodes that last at least 7 days and then a
depressive episode lasting at least two weeks. Symptoms may be severe enough to seek immediate
medical care. Bipolar II Disorder is defined by recurring depressive, and hypomanic episodes, but not
to the extent of Bipolar I. Cyclothymic Disorder is defined by numerous periods of hypomania and
depression that lasts longer than two years in adults, (for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Typical treatments for bipolar disorder include: psychotherapy, mood stabilizers, antipsychotics, and
some Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (NIMH n.d.). In some cases, doctors will prescribe a
medication to combat the depression, a medication to combat the mania, and then medication to
combat any side effects caused by the other medications. Patients who exhibit a higher rate of
serotonin 5 HT binding prior to starting medication had a higher chance of recurring episodes, even
while taking medication, than did those who had a lower rate of serotonin 5 HT binding prior to
medication (Parsey 2013). Lithium was a drug that works within the nervous system to strengthen the
neural connections between cells to increase cell signaling therefore limiting the frequency and
intensity of manic depressive episodes. Lithium was anticipated to have success rates as high as 70%
80% but studies now indicate that Lithium really has a success rate of approximately 40% and comes
with a plethora of side effects (Surgeon General Report for Mental Health). Modafinil is an alpha
adrenergic agonist and directly stimulated the receptors within the brain. The reuptake of
noradrenaline by the noradrenergic is decreased and increase excitatory glutamatergic transmission is
increased. This reduces local GABAergic transmission, thereby

involve looking at different inventory models in order to allow this specialist the ability to produce
outside high demand windows of opportunity. Initially this company began using the MRP system
which enevitably helped to reduce the company s inventory and at the same time improved their on
time delivery numbers. Currently the process has allowed the Space Age company to maintain a cost

Such a truth is evident in many relationships, whether they be friendship or romance. In the movie The Painted Veil, this take on connections of people is further explored in an intelligent way, although not in a satisfying way. By exploring the themes of this movie, we can see how this bit of wisdom is not only explored, but demonstrated in a way that allows us as the audience to see it in action. James s Minty Alley Born in Trinidad and later expatriating himself first to London and then the United States, C.L.R. James was a key figure of the West Indian literary scene during the 1930s. Today he is primarily associated with his nonliterary writings in sociology and politics, and his fiction seems to have dropped from critical attention. Part of this shortsightedness stems from the fact that little of his fiction is readily available to a reading public in this country. Although a selection of his shorter work is now available in The C.L.R. James Reader (1992), the only extant edition of James novel Minty Alley (1936) is published by the small London press New Beacon Books. Because of its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In part, my desired shift of critical focus is a response against the predominant tendency in Anglo American literary studies of underestimating the formal experimentation of early twentieth century Caribbean writing. Critics tend to construct narratives in which British, American, and continental European writers set the standard for and carry out the work of producing modernist experimentation. Those few critics who have turned their attention to James fiction continue to follow suit of this general critical trend. Paget Henry and Paul Buhle have remarked that this author s value lies in his status as an anti colonial writer, an identity that they believe to be affirmed by Minty Alley because of the careful artistic representation [that it] gives to the lives of working class Trinidadians and its affirmation of the creative self projections that such individuals established in relation to their world (122). James did envision his novel as a populist one, affirming his own mothers s adage that [t]o write forblack people in the Caribbean was a distinction (James interviewedin Henry and Buhle 57). But does its accessibility to a contemporary audience preclude the incorporation of experimental elements? The greatest challenge in the nursing profession today continues to be the lack of cohesion and agreement on how to proceed in the future of nursing. Begging the question, are nurses adequately prepared for the healthcare field and what does this mean for the future of the nursing profession? The unified standard of entry into nursing practice is a must for the growth of the nursing profession. This paper will review the ANA s 1965 position on entry into the nursing practice, the current discussions on entry and advancements in the nursing profession, and the current challenges in nursing education. American Nurses Associations 1965 position In 1963, the U.S. Surgeon General s Consultant Group on Nursing identified a nationwide nursing shortage. This led to the Comprehensive Nurse Training Act of 1964 that created nurse education and training programs and also supplied grant funds for student loans, nursing school, and education grants (Smith, 2009). A year later the Comprehensive Nurse Training Act led to the American Nurses Association Committee on Education to look at nursing education, practice, scope, and responsibilities. While looking into nursing education, concerns were raised about hospital based diploma programs and the increasing complexity of healthcare. As a result, the American Nurses Association s (ANA) released their 1965 position paper on entry into nursing practice. In their 1965 position paper the ANA recommended three things they ... Sleeping on the back has been associated with a variety of odd sleep experiences and phenomena. It should be theorized that altering your sleep position may decrease likelihood of hypnagogic jerks. Bed firmness: It should be considered that a more firm or less firm bed may influence brain activity prior to falling asleep. Those on a less firm bed may receive less muscular stimulation and thus feel as if they are falling or floating, which causes a jerk. • 8. The Problem Of Differential Equations Predicting the future is a big topic that many people have attempted and failed. Many people try to predict things such as the end of the world, the next stock market crash, and the weather. Many people are also scared of the future and wonder what it will hold, such as the prophet Jonah. When the Lord told Jonah to go to Nineveh, he was terrified of the future and fled from the Lord. God later showed Jonah that he is the only one in control and Jonah couldn t run from God. Christians believe that there is only one person that is in control of the future and can predict it, and that would be God. While they know this to be certain, mathematicians believe that by using math, specifically differential equations, they can predict how things such as population, the stock market, and the weather can be somewhat accurately predicted. In order to decide whether differential equations can predict future events, it is important to know exactly what a differential equation is. A differential equation is an equation involving derivatives of a function or functions.. The functions usually represent some quantities, and the derivatives represent their rates of change. The differential equation that results from the two relates the derivative and the function to be used as a productive equation. The rate of change according to time can be a pivotal part in trying to predict some aspects of the future. When mathematicians think of using differential equations to predict ... • 11. The Ideal Household By Xenophon The purpose of The Ideal Household as told by Xenophon, a student of Socrates, was to show the reader how an elite Athenian lady lived as well as to show what an ideal marriage looked like. Xenophon wanted to convey to the readers what he thought an ideal marriage looked like and also what he generally thought most marriages in Athens were. The overall message of this source is not explicit in nature, but does offer a subtle yet firm message on how women in Athens were expected to behave. Wives of elite men were often expected to fully run the household while dedicating their lives to their husbands and family. The work the women put into their family and households was a full time job that was usually never noticed or acknowledged outside of the household. Xenophon conveyed his message of what he thought an ideal marriage and household was by asking an Athenian gentleman questions about his marriage and life. The man offered insight into his and his wife s life and he spoke about how he lived a relaxed life while his wife attended to most if not all the household duties. Xenophon seemed worried about what this man actually did with his life and the man replied that he does not spend my days indoors, if for no other reason than because my wife can manage all our domestic affairs without my aid. . ( ) The man made it very clear that he has in a way trained his wife to run their household while he does whatever he pleases. Xenophon was very interested by this and wondered ... Some people may say that school starts too early, and in all reality it does. Students minds are never fully awake at eight a.m.. They may not give themselves enough time to eat breakfast. May not be getting enough sleep. Maybe they don t have a ride. Are the teachers even ready? If school started an hour later would there be as many tardies? Pushing the start time back an hour may be beneficial for students and teachers. Some kids are not able to drive themselves to school. Whether it be they are out of gas, no car, or not even eligible to drive. If they were to wake up late, and miss the bus, or other transportation, it may take them a while to get to school. Whether they have to walk or whether they have to find someone else to take them. Either way they will most likely be late, and miss class time. If school were pushed back an hour it would give them enough time to make it to class on time. No excuses. You may think that if they do it with this time, that they will do it if changed too. In all reality they can wake up at the same time and not be rushed to get to school. Also have time to eat breakfast, and maybe find another ride. Say that they were to wake up at seven fifty. This branch of psychology had intended to elaborate and study the nature and aspects of the human mind, also how these concepts such as mental events, mental functions and consciousness would connect to each other, through the human brain and body. Philosophy of mind became one of the central areas of philosophy as the skills and abilities of metalizing are used to treat individuals as the bearers of unobservable psychological states and processes, and in order to anticipate and explain the individual s behavior in terms of states. Dualists often believe in different concepts regarding how these would relate to each other. Her motives behind starting the organization were to educate women about the reproductive process allowing them to choose when and whether to bear children. Although Sanger supported the eugenics movement and sterilization, we cannot forget about all of the men and women her organization helped and continues to help to this day. Although a skilled craftsman, he was unable to properly care for his family because he preferred drinking over earning a steady wage, while his 11 children suffered bitterly from privation. Once Sanger grew older she fled her unhappy home in search for a better life. She attended college and found it was not for her and later met her husband who she had 3 children with. Sanger detested domestic life and neglected her children to the point that neighbors had to step in and care for them ( Margaret Sanger ). It is safe to say Sanger did not have it easy growing up. The cold temperature of winter always reminds me of when I got hit in the head with a golf club. It was a warm summer day in mid August. The smell of pollen and honey floated through the air; the smell was so thick, I could taste it. The bright sun blared down on me, and I could feel the intense heat radiating from it. The sound of birds chirping up in the thick green tree, and a light breeze blowing was all I could hear. Everything was peaceful until out of nowhere, one of my friends screams, Look out! just in time for me to turn around and see a golf club come barreling towards my face. I had no time to move, because within an instant, I was on the ground holding my forehead. This experience reminds me of winter because the transition from fall to winter comes faster than a speeding bullet train. The cold especially reminds me of this, because whenever I step outside from the warm comforts of my home; I always feel a blast of frigid cold air on my face. The only good part about winter would be the joy of Christmas, days out of school from snow, and getting to spend time with my family. Spring on the other hand, is a lot warmer and more hopeful than winter. To me, spring is like when I would wake up on Christmas as a young child. The sunlight beamed through a crack in my curtains, waking me up. The sweet scent of cinnamon and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Award him a gold medal (a chocolate disc wrapped in gold foil). You can similarly award the silver and bronze winner too. Tip: Make sure the hurdles are of the right size and height for the age group of your guests. Avoid using objects for hurdles that have sharp edges. 2. Bite em off Get fruity with your next game. Buy small apples or pear with stems basically enough fruit so that each child has one. Before the party begins, tie a string to all the fruits. Now string them up to objects so that the fruit dangles. Every child has to stand under the fruit and try to take a bite out of it without using his or her hand. • 31. The Energy Of Fossil Fuels The capability to yoke energy sources and put them toward dynamic use has engaged a vital role in economic development globally. The industrial revolution in Europe was motivated in share by the usage of coal to power steam engines for water and rail transportation, to simplify iron casting, and to power looms and other industrial gear (Michael Roberts, 67). Prolonged use of effortlessly available oil aided to fuel nonstop expansion in the twentieth century. • 32. The Servant Labor System In Colonial America During the seventeenth century, the colonists confronted poverty epidemic by creating the servant labor system in which indentured servants and slaves provided labor work that directly and positively affected the colonial economy. Although servants and slaves were the main source in keeping the economic system of colonial America steady, they had such low social standings that Colonies and masters had become accustomed to abusing and mistreating them. In addition, in 1669, a law had been passed that enabled masters, free white men, to legally hunt and murder slaves if a rebellion were to occur ( Virginia Servant and Slave Laws, in Handout Set, p. 3). This law, along with many more in Virginia Servant and Slave Laws, allowed masters to remain dominant over servants and slaves which historically is the root for the racial ideology of white supremacy and created countless racial equality rebellions and movements. During this time, slaves were put up to be auctioned and once they were sold, they lived the rest of their lives providing labor for their masters. Due to such entitlement, masters would take advantage of it along with the laws being passed to profit off their servants and slaves. According to a particular law that had in been passed in 1662, it states ...Be it therefore enacted and declared... that all children borne in this country shalbe held bond [slave] or free only according to the condition of the mother ( Virginia Servant and Slave Laws, in Handout Set, p. ... Worldwide, IUDs are the most used method of contraception, used by almost one fourth of all female contraceptive users. The typical indication for IUDs is as a method of long acting reversible contraception. Intrauterine devices are effective, safe, easy to insert and relatively inexpensive (Dean Goldberg, 2016). Therefore, in treating women of childbearing years, the Nurse Practitioner will educate this patient population about the risks and benefits of the IUD, as well as the risks and expected side effects. The NP can provide a group of questions to the patient and mate to determine the appropriate choice of contraception. (See table 1). Prior to the consideration of the insertion of an IUD, the patient must have a negative pregnancy test, and no active cervical, vaginal or bladder infections. The patient cannot have an untreated abnormal PAP smear, active liver disease, breast cancer or an compromised immune system. Intrauterine devices (IUD) are constructed from plastic in the United States (US). Worldwide, however, steel is also used. Currently, the categories of IUDs in the US are: copper releasing, progesterone releasing or inert. Except for the unmedicated type, the IUDs release either copper or progesterone in order to potentiate the effectiveness of the intrauterine device. Humans are not meant to be completely self sufficient as God is, they should look upon God for guidance in their life. This message was ignored in the construction of the tower in which the two main motivations were to gain fame and to build a city to preserve unity (Interpreter s Concise Commentary, 17). Humans should never have the arrogance to try to become gods on earth through fame. Further, one should only preserve unity if that is God s plan. This is seen in the setting of the story, the apocalyptic genre of the excerpt, and the detailed explanation of the building of the tower. This story is set in the land of Shinar (Genesis 11:2). Shinar is described as meaning Babylonia, the ancient state resting in the Tigris Euphrates river basin. Further, within the state of Babylonia, was the northern city of Babylon. The setting of Babylon for this ancient tradition indicates a 6th century, exiled Jewish audience as it establishes a basis for an apocalyptic message about their exile. The detailed description of the brick making process and bitumen (Genesis 11:3) also indicates a Jewish audience. A Jewish audience would have been familiar with sun dried bricks, with no archeological evidence of kiln fired bricks at this time in Palestine (Walton, 163). Mesopotamia however used expensive bitumen almost exclusively with kiln fired bricks (Walton, 163). Further these expensive building materials would have only been used for places, temples and other official buildings within a city (Walton, 163). According to Vallerand, sense of belonging has to do with the feeling of connectivity with others in the same environment, often involves the identification of one s self with a particular group. When a sense of belonging is well established among students, they feel accepted, loved and respected, which influence their self image and beliefs (Booker, 2004; Goodenow, 1993). The discussion for online classes is based on comments and emails sent between each other. This is difficult because students are unaware of others schedules and it is harder to reach out because they may be busy at the times you are not. An advantage of online classes is you are able to learn from professors around the world which allows you to broaden your perspective and learn from different viewpoints. Overall, the only major difference between online and traditional classes is the interaction. Foreign Affairs And Foreign Trade MEMORANDUM To: Honorable Maxine McClean, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade From: Monica Perez Date: November 14, 2015 RE: Engaging in trilateral cooperation: Mitigating the Chinese threat to U.S. hegemony in Latin America STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Barbados is a net importing developing country (NIDC) with food imports significantly exceeding food exports. As in most Caribbean islands, domestic agricultural output and food processing is limited. Barbados relies on imports of practically the full range of food products to meet the needs of its population. In fact, Barbados imports 70% of its food, over a third of which comes from the United States. As a result, food security in terms of food self sufficiency and self reliance is severely lacking. Moreover, the expanding tourism sector further fuels the demand for U.S. food products. U.S. exports to Barbados of snacks, dairy products, processed fruits vegetables, fruit vegetable juices, and seafood products have all registered increases since 2010. Fresh, chilled and frozen red meat products are also an important product category which increased by 150% since 2010. These food imports, particularly those of processed foods, are often associated with increasing weight and higher rates of chronic non communicable diseases (obesity, diabetes, hypertension, stroke, heart disease, and cancer).
