`` 6 Harsh Truths That Will Make You A Better Person `` By...
6 Harsh Truths That Will Make You A Better Person is a listicle written by David Wong, the chief
editor of the website cracked.com . In this article, Wong takes an atypical side to the tradition self help
style of writing. He approaches the genre with an aggressive, volatile, angry tone to motivate those
who find themselves unmotivated. Wong divides his audience into two distinct groups. He uses a
scene from the famous 1992 movie Glengarry Glen Ross to his aid. This particular scene is the Alec
Baldwin, If you want to work here, CLOSE! speech that received massive critical praise. Wong uses
this scene to parallel the audience to those who worked under Alec Baldwin. Wong directly then
divides the audience into those who get things done in the face of adversity, and those who fail to even
step up to challenge. After making this distinction, Wong then targets those who fail to step up to the
challenge, and proceeds to portray his ideas on how to improve one s dire situation. However, what
Wong doesn t fully understand is that through this article, he truly alienates the group that he is trying
to assist in the first place. Wong s use of vulgar language, from the very first line to the concluding
paragraph, makes an informal attempt to grab an audience s attention. This caustic style of informality
effectively makes the audience cringe and not responsive to the article s message. Wong also uses
different forms of media, ranging from pictures and videos to help assist his

law of torts
THE LAW OF TORTS INTRODUCTION The word tort is of French origin and is equivalent of the
English word wrong, and the Roman law term delict. It is derived from the Latin word tortum, which
means twisted or crooked. It implies conduct that is twisted or crooked. It is commonly used to mean a
breach of duty amounting to a civil wrong. Definition: a tort is defined as a civil wrong for which the
remedy is a common law action for unliquidated damages and which is not exclusively the breach of a
contract or the breach of a trust or other merely equitable obligation. A tort arises due to a person s
duty to others in generally which is created by one law or the other. A person who commits a tort is
known as a tortfeaser, or a wrongdoer. Where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1. Voluntary and involuntary acts: acts and omissions may be voluntary or involuntary. An involuntary
act does not give rise to liability in tort. 2. Mental elements: Plaintiff may be required to show some
fault on the part of the defendant. Fault here means failure to live up to some ideal standard of conduct
set by law. To determine fault, the following may be proved: a) Malice: In the popular sense, malice
means ill will or spite. In Law, it means i) intentional doing of a wrongful act and, ii) improper motive.
b) Intention: i.e. where a person does a wrongful act knowing the possible consequences likely to
arise, he is said to have intended that act, and is therefore at fault. c) Recklessness: i.e. where a person
does an act without caring what its consequences might be, he is at fault. d) Negligence: i.e. where the
circumstances are such that a person ought to have foreseen consequences of his act and avoided it
altogether, he would be at fault if he bothers not. e) Motive: Motive is the ulterior objective or purpose
of doing an act and differs from intention. 3. Malfeasance, misfeasance and non feasance:
Malfeasance‟ refers to the commission of a wrongful act which is actionable per se and do not require
proof of intention or motive. „Misfeasance‟ is applicable to improper performance of some lawful act,
for example, where there is negligence.

On Why Are More American Teenagers Than Ever Suffering...

Reflection Paper #2 The New York Times article revealed that there s an increasing number of
teenagers suffering from severe anxiety as a result of several factors. Some of these factors include the
increasing standards to succeed in this society as well as the advancement of technologies in the past
decade. After reading Why Are More American Teenagers Than Ever Suffering From Severe Anxiety?
by the New York Times regarding the increasing prevalence of severe anxiety among teenagers, I
begin to question what have changed so much to cause this epidemic as most teenagers, especially
high school and college students, have experienced anxiety or depression to some degree at some
point in their lives. Anxiety is something that most people have on a daily basis and in a small amount,
it s a signal that encouraged people to take action and resolve the conflict that has been bothering
them. But now, many teenagers are diagnosed with severe anxiety disorder and I believed the reason
for this is the increasing standards that teenagers have to face. For example, the growing requirements
for getting admitted into a competitive college is a major stressor for most high school students. In
addition to academic, these students need to distinguish themselves from their peers by being involved
in extracurricular activities or volunteer if they want any chance to get into a competitive college.
Because of this, I think many students forced themselves to be perfect in every

In the modern day global economy characterized by free trade, the government has limited power
when it comes to influencing how consumers view an industry or even discriminate against certain
products (Findlay Warren, 2013). Nonetheless, the purpose of this paper is to explore if it s ethical for
the public, or rather the consumers to view all industries differently. Also, as an advocate for the
consumers, I will provide arguments concerning the reasons as to why I do not believe that some
industries are unfairly targeted, such as in the case with the fast food industry. The paper will also

In the corporate setting, capitalism plays an important role in the sense that it helps ensure that the
decisions made by leaders, such as the CEOs, take into consideration the company s or stockholders
interest in gaining profit (Peñaloza Barnhart, 2011). This implies that it compels business leaders to
make decisions that minimize loses while increasing the profitability of the firm. In most occasions,
this is accomplished through the application of the utilitarian and Kantian approach to decision
making. However, it s important to note that the central implication of public capitalism is that of
helping foster corporate decision making based on the broader effort to promote the public good
(Peñaloza Barnhart, 2011).
Discuss if you believe it is possible for a company to cater to both its best interest and that of the
consumer conjointly or if one always has to prevail. Justify your response. In the modern world of
business, it s possible for a business to cater for both its best interest and that of the consumer
conjointly. The best interests of most companies, for example those in the fast food industry, include
maximizing profitability by increasing sales (Forschler, 2013). However, it s possible for them to cater
for the best interest of the consumers, such as increasing consumer satisfaction, only if they utilize

BACKGROUND: HOBART CORPORATION Hobart Corporation was headquartered in Troy, Ohio
and was preparing to embrace the Internet world and be a part of the Internet Revolution in 1996.
Internet was privileged by the blending of technology and software and used in turn to promote
marketing and various transactions. It looked like the gateway to reduced cost and increased revenue.
Internet has created dilemma for Hobart: Hobart Corporation was not completely sure if the
establishment of internet would actually be profitable for them or not. There were questions regarding

As the population increases everywhere around the world and people are getting accustomed to home
meal replacement product, demand is rising everywhere. Social and economic factors also shape the
demand, and gave rise to mergers and acquisitions, broader product line and increased capital
investment. Manufacturers, who can supply high quality product with wide range of interdependent
equipment pieces, have an advantage over competitors. Industry analysis shows that in 1999, the total
value of shipped food product machinery was $2.968 billion a 3% increase from 1998. Strong
economy, increased income, new construction and remodeling of food provider level led to a forecast
of food product shipment increase by 1% above U.S domestic economic growth. Important aspects of
the food equipment industry: Apart from the mergers and acquisitions taking place, the industry
outlook was drastically changing because of development in the areas of food safety, material prices,
general economic trend, skilled labor, technology and e commerce. Number of consumers who were
concerned about food safety was increasing. Material cost is an important factor in every industry.
Even in this industry, around 30% of the final cost is tied up in steel, which causes fluctuation in the
product price. This in turn determines the industry profitability and growth. On one hand, the industry

Kneeling In The NFL Fans
Kneeling during the national anthem has gotten bigger than I would ever thought it could be. It was
49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick who started the trend last year to protest police brutality. He first
took a knee during the national anthem people thought he was the most disrespectful person ever.
Some fans boo d him when he came into stadiums, some even burned his jersey. I find it hard to
believe that people support the movement when other teams started to do it but just last year they
hated Colin for doing it. In week 4 of the NFL 2017 18 season teams around the league decided to all
link arms and kneel. It is crazy because teams never kneeled as a whole until President Trump s
incendiary comments. I wonder if he would have never came at the NFL players would this deal have
gotten this big. Fans had many different reactions to what they have been doing. Some fans were with
the movement and understood why the players were kneeling, but some fans didn t care why they
were kneeling. They thought it was the most disrespectful thing to do. They thought it was showing
that the players did not care that we have troops over seas fighting to keep america free, so kneeling
was a sign of disrespect to everyone fighting for us. A few war veterans that attended the games that
players took a knee at took it as a punch in the face. Felt as what they did really didn t mean anything
to those players and felt really disappointed, but it was never aimed at the veterans it was all towards

Cost Benefit Analysis ( Cba )
1. Introduction
In the recent years, Cost benefit Analysis (CBA) has been connected to different ranges of strategies
and tasks. Indeed, with research of CBA was conducted into two wide areas of work. One area which
undertaken to defined the technical economic reasons for supporting CBA and then again there are
studies which completes empirical evaluations over the performance of test of CBA.
For every business and IT that has developed projects, they have to make good decision on whether
the projects will have costs and benefits and to determine it is important to supplement such as cost
effectiveness analysis with CBA tool to help with strategy deciding. Pearce et al (2006), CBA is a

According to Bhatt et al, (2010 in Dehning 2002, Davis Stratopoulos, 2003) mentions that analysts in
the IT field contend that a model may not be specifically pertinent to IT expenses which can be mean
that the reappearance from IT costs is difficult to measure which makes it more hard to figure it out
ROI or comparable models for IT expenses.
2. Cost Benefit Analysis
Cost benefit analysis has been around for many years while serving a great purpose to any business or
IT due its wide range of innovative strategies. According to Levin and McEwan (2001, p.14) Cost
benefit analysis is a tool that evaluates to the assessment of choices as indicated by their costs and
benefits when each is measured in economic terms. However Prest and Turvey defined cost benefit
analysis as a practical way of assessing the desirability of projects, where it is important to take a long
view (in sense of looking at repercussions in the further, as well as the nearer, future) and a wide view
(in the sense of allowing for side effects of many kinds of many persons, industries, regions, etc.) i.e it
implies the enumerations and evaluation of all the relevant costs and benefits .
The aim of CBA is to put a monetary values on the benefit anticipated from the project and difference

For instance, among the two hours of observation, the lemurs were huddling together without any
grooming or other socializing behaviors. This might be attributed to the colder temperature in
Madison than that in their native habitation, Madagascar, even with the help of the temperature
controlling system in the zoo (though whether this is true or not would need more data collection to
testify). The well known sunbathing behavior of ring tailed lemurs was also absent during my
observation, and this might be due to their lack of access to sunlight in such an environment.
Moreover, there are still many uncertain factors that were not included in the results such as the age of
the primates, which might have attributed to long amount of time the primates spent resting. Further
data would be needed to get a better understand of the differences in behavior between the captive ring
tailed lemurs and their wild

Un Peacekeeping In Rwanda Research Paper
A persuasive thesis on the UN peacekeeping mission to Rwanda:
The danger and threats of being a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, is difficult to understand
without having experienced them. An example of these challenges was the situation Canadians serving
the UN faced during the United Nations Assistance Mission for Rwanda (UNAMIR). At times, over
400 Canadian soldiers would face some of the worst violence that could be imagined while taking part
in international peace efforts to try and bring the African nation together.
For centuries, two African tribes have made up the majority of the country s population: the Hutus and
the Tutsis. The Tutsis dominated Rwanda s economy and politics for centuries. In 1960, the Hutu
majority forced the Tutsis to flee the country. Rwanda achieved independence in 1961, the Tutsis that
had fled the country formed rebel groups and repeatedly tried to regain control of Rwanda. This led to
decades of violence and stress. In the early 1990s, this stress flared dramatically. Violence grew
throughout the country and the situation became a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

which Canada played a leading role. At different times, two Canadians would serve as the Commander

UN mission in place, the situation in the country turned into horror in April 1994. The Hutus began to
execute over hundreds of thousands of Tutsis. The UN soldiers did what they could during the
widespread of killing and chaos, but they were too few in number. And they could not prevent the
horrific violence. The Canadian and many other UN forces remained in the country for a time to try to

Northgate Marching Band
In high school I was a part of the Northgate Marching Band Drumline. I auditioned my freshman year
and was put on top bass. At the time the line was dominated by girls, so I felt very comfortable and
made a lot of friends. During the winter season I auditioned for snare. In drumline, the snare drum is
the most exposed drum, therefore it is reserved for the more advanced players. I was told to go home
and work on some things, and so I did. I practiced for a few hours and the next day after practice I was
told I was on snare. I marched snare from then on, freshman year all the way through my senior year.
Although this was a main goal of mine, it was not my only goal in the drumline. In marching band we
had roles called Section Leaders. A section ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My sophomore year I tried out just to go through the process and be prepared, but my junior year I
tried out for real. I was trying out as a minority. I was the youngest junior on the line, now the only
girl on the line, and I had been on snare the least amount of everyone else on snare. After a week had
gone by, we had our band banquet. During the banquet they would announce all of the new section
leaders. They took us into the hall and I was told I was the new section leader for the drumline. This
role is held very high in the Northgate Marching Band, because if you hold this position, you are a
leader of the band. Now that I had the title I needed to accomplish one more thing. In drumline we
have a center snare. The center snare is the most advanced player on the line, they count off all the
exercises and they are the person you listen to when playing. Our audition process was intense,
because again I was the one with the least experience on snare. I absorbed every piece of criticism I
received and I applied every fix to better myself as a

Bromopropane And Potassium Hydroxide Lab Report
The purposes of this experiment were to model a bimolecular nucleophilic substitution reaction
between potassium hydroxide (KOH) with 1 bromopropane and determine whether it follows a second
order rate law mechanism. A rate constant of 0.0684 M 1 min 1 was obtained for this reaction at
45.1°C, which was determined through equilibrating the reaction and performing titrations of 0.390 M
KOH with 0.1000 M hydrochloric acid (HCl). The activation energy calculated from class data was
50.188 kJ/mol, which deviated largely from the literature range value of 72.80 83.76 kJ/mol. It was
concluded that the reaction was consistent with the predicted SN2 mechanism, based on the regression
of a trendline.
Many reactions that exist in nature involve a double displacement between ions and reactants with
solvents. A bimolecular nucleophilic substitution, or SN2 reaction, involves a nucleophilic attack on a
substrate and the departure of a leaving group. A nucleophile is a compound or ion that donates
electrons to promote bond formation (Caldwell, 1984). In order for a leaving group in a compound to
leave, it must possess the characteristics of a weak base and be able to occupy electrons. Several
factors affect the rate and favorability of such reaction, such as (Bateman, 1940). In addition, the
substrate that is attacked by the nucleophile is commonly an unhindered primary substrate to allow the
reaction to occur quicker. An SN2 reaction follows the second order rate law. In this

Dairy Calves
Scours in newborn calves that causes diarrhea is an infection cause by several types of bacteria, and
viruses that is easily spread through fecal matter, or may be in the environment. Due to weak immune
system of newborns they re more likely to catch a disease because they have not built up an immunity
to their environment yet. For newborns this disease can be fatal if severe enough, and left untreated;
however, there are preventive measures. Ways of preventing scours in dairy calves include: separate
enclosures, commercial colostrum, and cleaning/environmental strategies. The main prevention
against scours in calves are individual calf pens in a calf room in a separate part of the barn. Calves

We can, however, control the environment in which the calf is born and raised early in life. The
newborn calf needs a dry, clean place if we expect it to survive free of scours (Stoltenow, Charles, and
Vincent, Lani). The less pathogens the calves are exposed to in the beginning of their life the less
chance of them catching a disease. Therefore, having gradual exposure allows the calf s body to adapt
to its environment without shocking its system and causing it to be overloaded. This way cows can
become incorporated into the main herd of milking cows at an appropriate age for being bred to start
the milk cycle. Scours in dairy calves is preventable some methods include: Separate calf pens,
commercially bagged colostrum, and cleaning/environmental methods. Using these methods of
building a calf s immunity through a controlled environment with gradual exposure to the
environment around them. Therefore, preventing disease, allowing the calves to be safely raised to
become part of the milking herd in the main barn. For a farmer preventative measures are much less
costly then treatment of scours in their dairy calf

First, let me offer my sincere condolences on the death of Rehteah Parsons, and commend you for

Rehteah and the humiliation she experienced after them only increase the gravity of the situation at

Bullying and sexual assault are unfortunately all too common amongst students at this age. The desire
to fit in with one s peers often leads to these behaviors being imitated and repeated instead of

only one part of the equation of equal importance is an environment where self control is given its best

to engage in antisocial and impulsive behaviors. Furthermore, we know that glucose is required by the
brain to carry out its functions, including inhibiting one s own actions. At least one study has shown
that participants who are given a glucose rich shake before playing a purposefully frustrating game are
significantly better at regulating their emotions than participants who were given a placebo. Another
study showed that people who ate breakfast reported more positive moods overall compared to people
who skipped it. These studies are representative of the body of literature as a whole, and given this, I
would highly recommend you consider implementing a program that ensures students are receiving
adequate levels of glucose from day to day. I predict that not only would this reduce the amount of
harmful and antisocial behaviors students might exhibit towards each other and authority figures, but

Kenner Vs Sinclair
In America, from the early 1900 s to the present, meatpacking industries have changed in large
increments, however, their intentions of providing copious amounts of meat for a cheap price have
lived on. As muckrakers, Upton Sinclair, author of The Jungle, and Robert Kenner, director of the film
Food, Inc., have targeted the American meat packaging plants. They accomplish this by meeting the
common goal of creating awareness for the people of the U.S. about what the citizens are actually
consuming. Despite the parallel goal they share and multiple similarities as to how they both expose

Sinclair and Kenner live, and due to their differentiating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, my opinions about the meat I eat from the processing plants have not changed in the long

containing little too no preservatives. Despite the fact that after reading and watching the works of
America s muckrakers I know that eating meat without chemicals in it is highly unlikely, yet I still
have not changed what meat I eat and where I consume that meat. The novel entitled, The Jungle, by
Upton Sinclair, and the film Food, Inc., by Robert Kenner, target the corrupt and unfair meat
packaging plants of America to create awareness around the country as to what the conditions in the
factories are like, and to give insight about the quality of the meat. The two muckraker s worked hard
in their respective time to deliver the best information to the people in the way that they consider to be
the most effective. America has seen extensive amounts of change and reform to its meat packing
facilities from 1906, the year that Upton Sinclair published his novel, to the present. In contrary, the
same disturbing intention of the meat factories to provide quantity over quality have found a way to

In recent years, rising drug prices in the United States raises have impacted patient access to
medications, including potentially life saving medications. It has become extremely difficult for
patient to receive medications. The blame is being shifted from insurers, drug manufactures, and the
government. Insurers are protesting that specialty drug costs are forcing them to jack up premiums.
State Medicaid directors say spiking pharmacy costs are coercing them to make unfortunate coverage

She said that Mount Sinai was continuing to use the drug, but each use now required a special review.
Unfortunately, the patients that needed this drug suffered from the malpractice of the drug company,
which consequently led to public outrage. Another example of company malpractice was of Mylan
raising the price of the EpiPen. Mylan Pharmaceuticals increased the price of the EpiPen from $100 in
2009 to $608 in 2016. The EpiPen is a life saving drug that many young children use in times of dire
need so the $500 price increase felt morally unethical to consumers. Consumers interpreted the
increase as a manufacturer profiteering off a person s life or death needs. Mylan then justified the
prince increase because they said they had competition from Sanofi but Sanofi dropped out of the
market not soon after and the price still increased from Mylan. In conclusion, drug manufacturers
definitely hold on to some blame of the recent prescription drug price spike. Arguably, the government
and insurance companies have the ability to work with companies to streamline certain processes and
decrease costs and prices. Medicare Part D is large enough and with enough money coming in that
they can bargain and negotiate drug prices with manufacturers. This solution would decrease the
average costs of most prescriptions for senior citizens and the disabled and would say the Medicare

Puerto Rico-American Culture Essay
Puerto Rico is a commonwealth island that it is under the United States government. However, this
island counts with their own culture and history. In the website Countries and their Cultures I found an
article called Puerto Rican American by Derek Green. I chose this article because I found it very
interesting. The article states that Puerto Rico is located in the Caribbean Sea and was discovered by
Christopher Columbus 1493 and between 1460 152 Juan Ponce de Leon was the first colonial
governor. In 1898 Spain ceded the island to the United States because of the Spanish American War.
In 1925 the United Sates government declared all Puerto Rican as a citizen of the United States.
According to the article, Puerto Rico is unique in their traditions, customs, and belief. Mr. Derek says
that many Puerto Rican customs and superstitions blend the Catholic religious traditions of Spaniards
and the pagan religious beliefs of the West African slaves who were brought to the island beginning in
the sixteenth century. Though most Puerto Ricans are strict Roman Catholics, local customs have
given a Caribbean flavored to some standard Catholic ceremonies. Among these are weddings,
baptisms, and funerals. Like other Caribbean islanders and Latin Americans, Puerto Ricans
traditionally believe in spiritism, the notion that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Puerto Rican culture is often confused with other Latin American cultures, especially that of Mexican

An Efficient Churn Mining Using Particle
AN EFFICIENT CHURN MINING USING PARTICLE
SWARM BASED BOOSTED TREE
Sarbinder Pal Singh, Kiranbir Kaur, Sandeep Sharma Department of computer engineering and
technology Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Punjab, India.
ABSTRACT
Churn Prediction has been major research problem with the growth of market development as
customers asset more valuable persons for growth of company. The occurrence of churn customers is
one of the crucial problems for the growth of a company, as it acquires higher costs. The task of churn
prediction is to identify the customers who are pretending to shift from one company to another. As in
the competitive environment, it becomes necessary to focus on retaining churn customers as well as
attracting new customers. Various algorithms of Data Mining have been used for making distinguish
between customers into loyal and churn, so that appropriate steps can be taken into consideration in
order to retain the churn customers to the company as customers are more valuable to the survival and
development of the company. The proposed Hybrid approach is an integration of two techniques
named J48 and LogitBoost that have feature of PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization), provides better
and accurate results in the prediction of churn customers. PSO is used to search the best solution with
two best values named pbst and gbst by using iteration with initial velocity and positions. The
experiment results reveal good distinction of churn and loyal customers from the

The Replication Of DNA In Escherichia Coli
Introduction
Today s issue of Biology: Meselson and Stahl (Vol 4, 1958) includes a groundbreaking development
into further understanding of DNA Replication. On pages 671 682 is an article titled The Replication
of DNA in Escherichia Coli . Meselson and Stahl conducted an experiment to understand how DNA
self replicates by the use of Bacterial transformation to clone parental DNA.
In the article, Meselson and Stahl investigate the distribution between the parental and daughter DNA
molecules. This is achieved by the use of Radio Isotopic labelling. Uniform Isotopic N15 was grown
in E.coli consisting of N14 medium to observe the distribution of N15 DNA macromolecules. Within
the article, the authors also discuss the problems they faced during the investigation and how
significant Watsons and Cricks Double helix suggests how DNA self replicates.
What is DNA?
The discovery of the structure of DNA has always been associated with Watson and Crick. Their
double helix structure, which they developed in 1983, has been used as a model to understand how
DNA self replicates (Karp, 2009). The structure of DNA is made up of covalent bonds between 4
unique nucleotide bases. These bases bind together via complementary base pairing, therefore
allowing Adenine to only bind with Thymine, and Cytosine with Guanine (Penn State, Ebery College
of Science, 2016). The use of covalent bonds makes the structure strongly bound like a zipper.
However, just like a zipper, it can easily open up

Reflection Paper On Strategic Management
This reflection paper will cover the lessons that I have learned from the cases and readings. Most
importantly it will expand on classroom discussions with Professor Dew and my peers; it is here
where I believe that I found the most valuable education. I will conclude with how this course has
influenced my way of thinking and how I will plan to apply these acquired Strategic Management
lessons in my future assignments and military billets. Thru the course I have learned that Strategic
Management builds on many processes and that various companies and organizations with diverse
backgrounds can teach us valuable lessons. To be on the lookout for what can be considered a
beneficial development in an organization or perhaps what can be a bad plan plausibly implemented at
the wrong time. As military members we are educated to think very linearly about strategy. For many
years we have been trained to have a strategic thought process based on the use of a methodology that
espouses three major steps: Ends (Objectives), Ways (Strategic Concepts), and Means (Resources).
(Barber 1997) However I have learned that goals and objectives of an organization are in continuous
change and they suffer from a lack of adaptation, our problems evolve and we fail to perceive the
subtle and not so subtle changes as well as not adjusting accordingly to the drift in direction (inertia).
That is why I think that a course such as this one is very valuable and offers many trends that are

Health Of Achieving Health And Wellness
Achieving health and wellness is a highly individualized, dynamic process that is characterized by six
interrelated dimensions: physical, social, intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and environmental health.
The focus of this paper is my physical health as it relates to wellness.
Furthermore, the objective of focusing on my physical health is to identify current health behaviors
and factors that may be impacting and prohibiting me from achieving optimal physical health. Using
the Transtheoretical Model for Stages of Change1 as a guide, I will identify a specific health behavior
I am seeking to improve, and outline an action plan to achieve and maintain good physical health.
In assessing my health behaviors, I have identified three specific behaviors that have negatively
impacted my physical health: lack of physical activity, poor nutrition and inadequate sleep. The factors
that I attribute to these current heath behaviors are: a lack of social support and guidance, the
nutritional value of foods consumed (as related to the culture in which I was raised), and time
management.
I attribute my lack of physical activity to an absence of social support and guidance in my life. For
example, my mother suffers with cardiovascular disease (CVD), yet rarely engages in physical
activity. Five years ago, my mother had a heart attack, and underwent an angioplasty2 in order to
receive a stent3. In accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC) (2015), the American

Pros of using violent imagery and language
It brings out the real meaning of the message he intends to pass across to the employees of Nokia
company. For example, when he says that the platform is burning while referring to Nokia, this simply
notifies the employees that unless they take the necessary actions to prevent Nokia from collapsing,
the company may not stand. There are many mistakes committed in the company which must be
arrested to prevent further damage.
The violent imagery awakens everyone to think outside the box immediately.
Cons of using violent imagery and language
The violent imagery may cause panic among the workers. Some of the employees can give up on the
company since it is already burning. The resulting demotivation can lead to further detrimental effects
than intended corrective steps.
Personally, I feel motivated when violent imagery and language is used in the memo. This approach is
unlikely to backfire because the facts are speaking loudly. First, the once leading Nokia company has
lost most of its customer base. Additionally, the management has been reluctant to provide direction in
the company. Additionally, the employees can also testify that Nokia has become inferior compared to
other competing brands on the market. Some of the employees in Nokia company may be using the
competitors brands at the time the memo was written. Therefore, the memo pointed out what was
obvious in the minds

Hedy Lamarr Essay
Hedy Lamarr was born Hedwig Eva Maria Kiesler, November 9, 1914, Vienna, Austria. She was born
to Gertrud (Lichtwitz), from Budapest, and Emil Kiesler, a banker from Lviv. Lamarr had three kids in
her lifetime; Anthony Loder, Denise Loder, and James Lamarr Markey.
Lamarr had an interest for films and acting from a young age. She was privately tutored from age 4.
By the time she was 10 years old she was a proficient pianist and dancer. She could also speak four
languages. She enrolled in Max Reinhardt s Berlin based dramatic school, at age 16. After three years
of acting her career was halted by her 1933 marriage to Fritz Mandl. Mandl prohibited her from doing
any stage or screen appearances, he also tried to destroy all prints of Ecstasy. After leaving Madl, she
went to Hollywood in 1937.
Her first English language film was Algiers. (1938) After being confined to mainly decorative roles,
she set up her own production company in 1946 hoping to secure more substantial roles. After three
years she went back to her previous ways. Landing a part in her most known film Samson and Delilah.

How Did Maya Deren Influence The Modern World
An opinion of Modernism: Maya Deren s influential path to the birth of true expressionistic film and it
s effect on the modern world. Maya Deren s films Meshes of the Afternoon, and A Study in
Choreography for the Camera have inspired filmmakers for more than fifty years, and have helped
create an independent cinema for modern times. Throughout my essay I will annalise two films and
then discuss Maya Deren s effect on the modern world. In 1942 Maya Deren and a man named
Alexander Hammid created Meshes of the Afternoon. Shot on a 16MM camera, Meshes of the
Afternoon would be The first narrative film in the history of the American avant garde (Geller, T.

talked about today and discussed in film history classes as one of the most influential films, in history
during a very masculinist avant garde art world. (Geller, T. 2006) Maya Deren talked ... Show more

question these things because those were the questions she was probably asking herself when she

The Film Frankie Alice Starring Halle Berry
Intro The film Frankie Alice starring Halle Berry is based on a true story of a woman who is living
with a dissociative identity disorder. Set a number of years back (likely the 1970s or 1980s), this film
provides the audience with a close up look at what it might be like to live with a mental health
disorder. While watching the film, I put a great deal of effort into understanding the symptoms and
episodes of the disorder, as the main character experienced them. Through my findings, I have a
greater understanding and appreciation not only of dissociative identity disorder but also of mental
health in general.
Mental Status exam diagnosis I would like to address each of the identities that appear in the film so
that I can go into more details about their traits as the paper progresses. The main character or identity
is Frankie who is an African American female in her early thirties who works as an exotic dancer. One
of the other personalities that she exhibits is a woman by the name of Alice, who is southern racist.
The final identity that appears much less often is a young child who the psychiatrist comes to call
Genius, as her very high IQ would suggest. The psychiatrist, Dr. Oswald performed somewhat of a
mental status examination when the main character Frankie came into the psychiatric center. At their
initial meeting, Dr. Oz asked Frankie questions that touched on the very basic elements of her life such
as questions about her work and her family. In this way,

American family that was very involved with the politics of Massachusetts. Raised with a silver spoon
in his mouth, Kennedy was the son of Joseph P. Kennedy, an American ambassador to Britain during

United States were revitalized by Kennedy s goal, giving the U.S. a refreshing sense of motivation and
unity to land a man on the moon before the decade was over. Later on in his presidency, the U.S. had
also gone through the Cuban Missile Crisis. Many thought an all out war was imminent, but Kennedy
prevented any sequential conflicts: ...in October 1962, Kennedy imposed a quarantine on all offensive
weapons bound for Cuba. While the world trembled on the brink of nuclear war, the Russians backed
down and agreed to take the missiles away. The American response to the Cuban crisis evidently
persuaded Moscow of the futility of nuclear blackmail (Beschloss). Kennedy reasoned with Russia
and Cuba during times of distress and anxiety, making conservative choices as to not provoke nuclear
war. Learning from his mistakes made in the Bay of Pigs invasion, Kennedy did not wish to engage in
war with military powerhouses Cuba and Russia. As a Senator,

It is a formless music, but because the performers are quite literally composing in the moment, there
were three noticeable sections in the piece. The first part was developing an idea, slowly getting used
to each other s sounds, sometimes gentle and sometime aggressive. Beginning of the improvisation the
drumbeat is simple but rather random. There is no set pattern that I could find, but the tom tom pattern
was rather similar so I think that was the main motif. The bass clarinet also started an idea, a 6 note
pattern downward without any tonal center. He slowly develops this idea by playing a similar patters,
or sequence, to concrete the idea for the audience but slightly mutating the motif little by little each
time he plays it. He never plays the same way again. As the bass clarinet gets more active by
increasing the amount of notes played and the intensity of the tone, the drum slowly matches the bass
clarinet in aggressiveness. The drum plays very sudden loud snare drum occasionally, creating tension
in the music with already atonal bass clarinet. Then the drummer starts to put a cymbal and a pad on
two different drums to create a very dull thick sound. The bass clarinet and the drum both
simultaneously becomes very aggressive, loud, and complex at this point. Bass clarinet sounds very
similar to a saxophone at this point. The drummer still

What Creates An Idea Group, And Group Levels And Virtues
Opinion? Or Fact?
(What is justice, what creates an idea group, and group levels and virtues)
There are many good reasons why, as citizens and as scientists, we should be concerned with studying
the ways in which human beings form their opinions and the role that social conditions play. (Elliot
Aronson, Page 17) It s human nature to instantly form an opinion of someone or something. There s
really no way around it. When someone forms an opinion, they think of their opinion as true, or fact.
But can an opinion be fact unless it s proved? That s a legit question for Republic. Throughout the
entire book of Republic, Socrates argues for many different objectives. It can be assumed that his
opinions were never, and were always, stated. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are trained specifically for that job and they are trained very well so they can perfectly perform
their operation to make the group run very smoothly. An example of this is leaders and followers. A
leader must be taught to lead and they must be able to lead well. People must be taught to be followers
and to not try to take the position of a leader. Without followers, there are no leaders. If people can be
taught to follow efficiently and the leaders are taught to lead efficiently, there will be harmony. Don t
forget, harmony is a key component of an ideal group along with unity and balance. Unity needs to be
present as well to form an ideal group and stems from each person within the group doing is or her
job. Each of these constituents are achievable and will form an ideal group if and only if there has
been a quality education given to each person. A person s education started way before they were even
born. Each choice that was made by their ancestors helped to form them into the person that they were
or are. A person s education didn t start when they entered kindergarten or even preschool. It started
long before that. The clarification of the concept of lifelong education (Dave, R.H.) The clarification
is that a lifelong education doesn t start or stop with school. It s a must more vast time period than
that. Education is random or intentional which also plays a crucial role in the making of an idea group.
Of a person s education is intentional, then

How Technology Has Changed The Development Of Today s...
Modern technology has shaped the way in which society is evolving. The rising popularity of cell
phones containing cameras has led to a shift in culture and a new found passion for amateur
filmmaking among society. Several cultural factors, globally and locally, have contributed to the
success of mobile devices and amateur film. Technology is not just shaping culture; modern film and
internet culture is shaping the development of today s society.
Globally, the self concept of many cell phone and social media users is being manipulated. Cell phone
use for photography and videography has led to an increase in the popularity of social media usage.
Social media usage branching from camera phone universality has become a significant factor in the
purpose behind amateur filmmaking. There are several reasons behind sharing a homemade video
online. Amateur filmmakers may post out of spite but many share their videos to the public merely
based on the concept of views. Paumgarten states a perfect instrument for the look at me age. Its
charm lies perhaps in its sublimated conveyance of self, its sneaky tolerable narcissism. (333) This
quote exhibits an example of how technology used for amateur filmmaking is a resource in the
projection of self during an age where we strive to be acknowledged. This claim assists in highlighting
the idea presented that modern technology is affecting the sense of self of one who searches for
validation while also creating a form of narcissism, both

  • 2. `` 6 Harsh Truths That Will Make You A Better Person `` By... 6 Harsh Truths That Will Make You A Better Person is a listicle written by David Wong, the chief editor of the website cracked.com . In this article, Wong takes an atypical side to the tradition self help style of writing. He approaches the genre with an aggressive, volatile, angry tone to motivate those who find themselves unmotivated. Wong divides his audience into two distinct groups. He uses a scene from the famous 1992 movie Glengarry Glen Ross to his aid. This particular scene is the Alec Baldwin, If you want to work here, CLOSE! speech that received massive critical praise. Wong uses this scene to parallel the audience to those who worked under Alec Baldwin. Wong directly then divides the audience into those who get things done in the face of adversity, and those who fail to even step up to challenge. After making this distinction, Wong then targets those who fail to step up to the challenge, and proceeds to portray his ideas on how to improve one s dire situation. However, what Wong doesn t fully understand is that through this article, he truly alienates the group that he is trying to assist in the first place. Wong s use of vulgar language, from the very first line to the concluding paragraph, makes an informal attempt to grab an audience s attention. This caustic style of informality effectively makes the audience cringe and not responsive to the article s message. Wong also uses different forms of media, ranging from pictures and videos to help assist his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. law of torts THE LAW OF TORTS INTRODUCTION The word tort is of French origin and is equivalent of the English word wrong, and the Roman law term delict. • 4. On Why Are More American Teenagers Than Ever Suffering... Quan Thi Reflection Paper #2 The New York Times article revealed that there s an increasing number of teenagers suffering from severe anxiety as a result of several factors. Some of these factors include the increasing standards to succeed in this society as well as the advancement of technologies in the past decade. After reading Why Are More American Teenagers Than Ever Suffering From Severe Anxiety? by the New York Times regarding the increasing prevalence of severe anxiety among teenagers, I begin to question what have changed so much to cause this epidemic as most teenagers, especially high school and college students, have experienced anxiety or depression to some degree at some point in their lives. Anxiety is something that most people have on a daily basis and in a small amount, it s a signal that encouraged people to take action and resolve the conflict that has been bothering them. But now, many teenagers are diagnosed with severe anxiety disorder and I believed the reason for this is the increasing standards that teenagers have to face. For example, the growing requirements for getting admitted into a competitive college is a major stressor for most high school students. In addition to academic, these students need to distinguish themselves from their peers by being involved in extracurricular activities or volunteer if they want any chance to get into a competitive college. Because of this, I think many students forced themselves to be perfect in every ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Assignment 1 Not All Companies Are Viewed as Equal 1 1 Essay Not All Companies Are Viewed as Equal Name Professor Course Date In the modern day global economy characterized by free trade, the government has limited power when it comes to influencing how consumers view an industry or even discriminate against certain products (Findlay Warren, 2013). Nonetheless, the purpose of this paper is to explore if it s ethical for the public, or rather the consumers to view all industries differently. Also, as an advocate for the consumers, I will provide arguments concerning the reasons as to why I do not believe that some industries are unfairly targeted, such as in the case with the fast food industry. The paper will also reconnoiter the ins and outs of why consumers should partake in choosing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the corporate setting, capitalism plays an important role in the sense that it helps ensure that the decisions made by leaders, such as the CEOs, take into consideration the company s or stockholders interest in gaining profit (Peñaloza Barnhart, 2011). This implies that it compels business leaders to make decisions that minimize loses while increasing the profitability of the firm. In most occasions, this is accomplished through the application of the utilitarian and Kantian approach to decision making. However, it s important to note that the central implication of public capitalism is that of helping foster corporate decision making based on the broader effort to promote the public good (Peñaloza Barnhart, 2011). Discuss if you believe it is possible for a company to cater to both its best interest and that of the consumer conjointly or if one always has to prevail. Justify your response. In the modern world of business, it s possible for a business to cater for both its best interest and that of the consumer conjointly. The best interests of most companies, for example those in the fast food industry, include maximizing profitability by increasing sales (Forschler, 2013). However, it s possible for them to cater for the best interest of the consumers, such as increasing consumer satisfaction, only if they utilize state of the art ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Social and economic factors also shape the demand, and gave rise to mergers and acquisitions, broader product line and increased capital investment. Manufacturers, who can supply high quality product with wide range of interdependent equipment pieces, have an advantage over competitors. Industry analysis shows that in 1999, the total value of shipped food product machinery was $2.968 billion a 3% increase from 1998. Strong economy, increased income, new construction and remodeling of food provider level led to a forecast of food product shipment increase by 1% above U.S domestic economic growth. Important aspects of the food equipment industry: Apart from the mergers and acquisitions taking place, the industry outlook was drastically changing because of development in the areas of food safety, material prices, general economic trend, skilled labor, technology and e commerce. Number of consumers who were concerned about food safety was increasing. Material cost is an important factor in every industry. • 7. Kneeling In The NFL Fans Kneeling during the national anthem has gotten bigger than I would ever thought it could be. It was 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick who started the trend last year to protest police brutality. He first took a knee during the national anthem people thought he was the most disrespectful person ever. Some fans boo d him when he came into stadiums, some even burned his jersey. I find it hard to believe that people support the movement when other teams started to do it but just last year they hated Colin for doing it. In week 4 of the NFL 2017 18 season teams around the league decided to all link arms and kneel. It is crazy because teams never kneeled as a whole until President Trump s incendiary comments. I wonder if he would have never came at the NFL players would this deal have gotten this big. Fans had many different reactions to what they have been doing. Some fans were with the movement and understood why the players were kneeling, but some fans didn t care why they were kneeling. They thought it was the most disrespectful thing to do. They thought it was showing that the players did not care that we have troops over seas fighting to keep america free, so kneeling was a sign of disrespect to everyone fighting for us. A few war veterans that attended the games that players took a knee at took it as a punch in the face. Felt as what they did really didn t mean anything to those players and felt really disappointed, but it was never aimed at the veterans it was all towards ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Levin and McEwan (2001, p.14) Cost benefit analysis is a tool that evaluates to the assessment of choices as indicated by their costs and benefits when each is measured in economic terms. However Prest and Turvey defined cost benefit analysis as a practical way of assessing the desirability of projects, where it is important to take a long view (in sense of looking at repercussions in the further, as well as the nearer, future) and a wide view (in the sense of allowing for side effects of many kinds of many persons, industries, regions, etc.) i.e it implies the enumerations and evaluation of all the relevant costs and benefits . This might be attributed to the colder temperature in Madison than that in their native habitation, Madagascar, even with the help of the temperature controlling system in the zoo (though whether this is true or not would need more data collection to testify). The well known sunbathing behavior of ring tailed lemurs was also absent during my observation, and this might be due to their lack of access to sunlight in such an environment. Moreover, there are still many uncertain factors that were not included in the results such as the age of the primates, which might have attributed to long amount of time the primates spent resting. Un Peacekeeping In Rwanda Research Paper A persuasive thesis on the UN peacekeeping mission to Rwanda: The danger and threats of being a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, is difficult to understand without having experienced them. An example of these challenges was the situation Canadians serving the UN faced during the United Nations Assistance Mission for Rwanda (UNAMIR). At times, over 400 Canadian soldiers would face some of the worst violence that could be imagined while taking part in international peace efforts to try and bring the African nation together. For centuries, two African tribes have made up the majority of the country s population: the Hutus and the Tutsis. The Tutsis dominated Rwanda s economy and politics for centuries. In 1960, the Hutu majority forced the Tutsis to flee the country. Rwanda achieved independence in 1961, the Tutsis that had fled the country formed rebel groups and repeatedly tried to regain control of Rwanda. This led to decades of violence and stress. Even with the UN mission in place, the situation in the country turned into horror in April 1994. The Hutus began to execute over hundreds of thousands of Tutsis. The UN soldiers did what they could during the widespread of killing and chaos, but they were too few in number. And they could not prevent the horrific violence. At the time the line was dominated by girls, so I felt very comfortable and made a lot of friends. During the winter season I auditioned for snare. In drumline, the snare drum is the most exposed drum, therefore it is reserved for the more advanced players. I was told to go home and work on some things, and so I did. I practiced for a few hours and the next day after practice I was told I was on snare. I marched snare from then on, freshman year all the way through my senior year. My sophomore year I tried out just to go through the process and be prepared, but my junior year I tried out for real. I was trying out as a minority. During the banquet they would announce all of the new section leaders. They took us into the hall and I was told I was the new section leader for the drumline. This role is held very high in the Northgate Marching Band, because if you hold this position, you are a leader of the band. Now that I had the title I needed to accomplish one more thing. In drumline we have a center snare. The center snare is the most advanced player on the line, they count off all the exercises and they are the person you listen to when playing. Our audition process was intense, because again I was the one with the least experience on snare. I absorbed every piece of criticism I received and I applied every fix to better myself as a ... Bromopropane And Potassium Hydroxide Lab Report The purposes of this experiment were to model a bimolecular nucleophilic substitution reaction between potassium hydroxide (KOH) with 1 bromopropane and determine whether it follows a second order rate law mechanism. A rate constant of 0.0684 M 1 min 1 was obtained for this reaction at 45.1°C, which was determined through equilibrating the reaction and performing titrations of 0.390 M KOH with 0.1000 M hydrochloric acid (HCl). The activation energy calculated from class data was 50.188 kJ/mol, which deviated largely from the literature range value of 72.80 83.76 kJ/mol. It was concluded that the reaction was consistent with the predicted SN2 mechanism, based on the regression of a trendline. Many reactions that exist in nature involve a double displacement between ions and reactants with solvents. A bimolecular nucleophilic substitution, or SN2 reaction, involves a nucleophilic attack on a substrate and the departure of a leaving group. A nucleophile is a compound or ion that donates electrons to promote bond formation (Caldwell, 1984). In order for a leaving group in a compound to leave, it must possess the characteristics of a weak base and be able to occupy electrons. Several factors affect the rate and favorability of such reaction, such as (Bateman, 1940). In addition, the substrate that is attacked by the nucleophile is commonly an unhindered primary substrate to allow the reaction to occur quicker. An SN2 reaction follows the second order rate law. The heinous nature of the crimes against Rehteah and the humiliation she experienced after them only increase the gravity of the situation at hand. Bullying and sexual assault are unfortunately all too common amongst students at this age. The desire to fit in with one s peers often leads to these behaviors being imitated and repeated instead of challenged, a concept referred to in the psychological literature as normative influence. Research has shown low self control to be closely associated with one s willingness to engage in antisocial and impulsive behaviors. At least one study has shown that participants who are given a glucose rich shake before playing a purposefully frustrating game are significantly better at regulating their emotions than participants who were given a placebo. ABSTRACT Churn Prediction has been major research problem with the growth of market development as customers asset more valuable persons for growth of company. The occurrence of churn customers is one of the crucial problems for the growth of a company, as it acquires higher costs. The task of churn prediction is to identify the customers who are pretending to shift from one company to another. As in the competitive environment, it becomes necessary to focus on retaining churn customers as well as attracting new customers. Various algorithms of Data Mining have been used for making distinguish between customers into loyal and churn, so that appropriate steps can be taken into consideration in order to retain the churn customers to the company as customers are more valuable to the survival and development of the company. The proposed Hybrid approach is an integration of two techniques named J48 and LogitBoost that have feature of PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization), provides better and accurate results in the prediction of churn customers. On pages 671 682 is an article titled The Replication of DNA in Escherichia Coli . Meselson and Stahl conducted an experiment to understand how DNA self replicates by the use of Bacterial transformation to clone parental DNA. In the article, Meselson and Stahl investigate the distribution between the parental and daughter DNA molecules. This is achieved by the use of Radio Isotopic labelling. Uniform Isotopic N15 was grown in E.coli consisting of N14 medium to observe the distribution of N15 DNA macromolecules. Within the article, the authors also discuss the problems they faced during the investigation and how significant Watsons and Cricks Double helix suggests how DNA self replicates. What is DNA? The discovery of the structure of DNA has always been associated with Watson and Crick. Their double helix structure, which they developed in 1983, has been used as a model to understand how DNA self replicates (Karp, 2009). The structure of DNA is made up of covalent bonds between 4 unique nucleotide bases. These bases bind together via complementary base pairing, therefore allowing Adenine to only bind with Thymine, and Cytosine with Guanine (Penn State, Ebery College of Science, 2016). The use of covalent bonds makes the structure strongly bound like a zipper. However, just like a zipper, it can easily open up ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
