Stereotyping In The Workplace
Today one thing that stereotyping is a big problem in, is the workforce. Stereotyping plays a big role
in gun owners and how gun owners act around and to others. Black people and white people always
get compared in some form or fashion and always have. Many sports teams are accused of
stereotyping other teams, players, and sports officials. Stereotyping is one way that many Americans
judge people. The problem with stereotypes in sports is that they often advance to common
stereotypes in the society today. Most employers are not concerned with how their employees are with
their natural born abilities. Stereotypes of African Americans them being authentic and due to
segregation now does not help any for the blacks today therefore, blacks are stereotyped more as thugs
than they are as successful like most white men and women. However, the stereotypes of white
Americans being hard working, disciplined and smart are helpful to them in finding employment.
Former NFL player Steve McNair played for a small Black college only because every big university s
colleges recruited him to play defensive back instead of quarterback, that was his natural ... Show

Picture this, A black male is walking down the street on the sidewalk with holes in his shirt, a gold
chain around his neck, and his pants sagging below his boxers. This same man is carrying a pistol on
his hip and is holding his pants up. Automatically people think he is a criminal. Many moms with
children in their car lock the doors because to them he looks like a threat. Little did they know he has
never harmed anyone or anything and would not, he is just carrying a pistol for self defense and he has
a consoled weapon permit. So many people stereotype everyone around then that today our society is
scared of one another and cannot seem to work together. One of the most insulting stereotypes is that
we own guns because we are making up for sexual inadequacies.

“While Shareholders and Managers Will Have Different...
Managers are hired to act on behalf of the shareholders of a firm. However, this is not always the case
as both parties have different objectives. The difference in interests between shareholders and
managers derives from the separation of ownership and control in a corporation (Berk and DeMarzo,
2011: 921). Whereas shareholders are interested in maximising their own wealth, managers may have
more personal interests which differ to that of the shareholders. Downs and Monsen (no date, cited in
Chin, Cooley and Monsen, 1968:435) suggest that managers self interest lies in maximising their life
time income and that such self interest will be congruent with profit maximisation for the firm only in
special cases . This conflict between both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although it may be a simple solution, there are costs involved. Berk and DeMarzo (2011:922) state
that as no one shareholder has an incentive to bear these costs, as the benefits are then divided
between all shareholders, they instead elect a board of directors to monitor the managers on their
behalf. The directors duties include hiring the executive team, approving major investments and
acquisitions, and dismissing executives if necessary (Berk and DeMarzo, 2011: 922). The level of
monitoring required differs across firms and is based on the magnitude of the incentive gap between
principal and agent (Beatty and Zajac, 1994, cited in Westphal and Zajac, 1994:125). However, the
main factor affecting the level of monitoring provided is the cost, otherwise all rational firms would
monitor maximally, irrespective of the strength of incentive compensation contracts or other factors
(Westphal and Zajac, 1994:125). Although the board of directors are hired to keep a close eye on top
management, the agency problem may still exist. This will occur when the director s duties in
monitoring have been compromised as they have connections with management. A way of
overcoming this problem is to hire directors who are independent to the company, as they are deemed
to be better monitors of managerial effort. As Mehran (1995:166) states, outside directors are more
independent of top management and thus better represent the interests of shareholders than do inside

Ownership of Digital Downloads
Ownership of Digital Downloads
Digital downloads are intellectual Properties of the innovators and the actual owners of the ideas
uploaded online. Ownership of digital content is exclusively reserved for the copyright owners who
have spent many years and others decades trying to come up with an idea. Downloading of digital
content online does not make that user the owner, and as such, there are no rights that have been
transferred to the user except those of using the content. For instance, a user is allowed to listen and
enjoy the downloaded music, watch the movies and read the books found online but it ends at that.
They cannot hold any ownership rights other than those of using it.
Technology has evolved with high speed and it attracts many people especially the youths who prefer
to use online downloads as opposed to tangible sources. As result, people who have produced their
content such as books, music and film are attracted to upload their content online for people to buy it
and then download it. Sales are better online than on the stores as it is convenient, faster and
accessible. The internet provides an easy method of sale but the prices are much lower than those of
purchasing a tangible content such as a book, a CD or a tape. Books, CDs and tapes carry ownership
rights and can be considered the buyers property as opposed to the online copy which ownership does
not leave the copyrighter. In this case, you cannot be said to own something you cannot show or hold.

Literary Devices In Norton Juster s The Phantom Tollbooth
Norton Juster s book, The Phantom Tollbooth successfully used different types of literary devices to
introduce the main theme of the novel which was the importance of education. Juster told the story of
a boy named Milo who was described as, ...a boy... who didn t know what to do with himself not just
sometimes, but always (1961, p. 9). Milo was very indecisive and overall, he leads a pretty boring and
uneventful life. However, all of that changed when he came home from school one day and noticed a
mysterious tollbooth in his bedroom. The tollbooth made him start to realize the value of education
and the importance of enjoying what was going on in his day to day life. The literary devices Juster
chose to use in his writing increased the quality of his work and they also helped allow him to engage
his readers in what they were reading more. Juster uses a wide variety of different types of literary
devices throughout the entire story but three of the most common are irony, puns, and allegory. One of
the most ironic moments in the book is when Milo, Tock, and Humbug enter the Valley of Sound on
their way to Digitopolis. From the time they entered the valley it is obvious that something was
missing. Juster wrote, at first it was difficult to tell just what had changed it all looked the same and it
all smelled the same but for some reason, nothing sounded the same (1961, p. 144). By making the
Valley of Sound of all places completely silent in the book, readers become more

High School Student Analysis
Being a high school student has never been easy. There are expectations to receive exceptional grades,
be involved in many activities, and keep a part time job. Surviving in high school requires many skills
and qualities to make your time easier. Work ethic, perseverance, patience, and responsibility, are
characteristics I feel I possess as a high school student and future college student. Grades in high
school hold exceptional value. Scholarship committees and colleges search for students who have a
high grade point average. I am proud to say that I have kept my GPA above average, which for
females is 3.10 (Average High School). Not only have my grades been kept at an exceptional level in
my high school classes, but my college classes also. Throughout my high school education, I have

Reality As The Product Of Human Consciousness
PART THREE REALITY
REALITY AS THE PRODUCT OF HUMAN CONSCIOUSNESS
Since the Scientific Revolution, humanity has adhered to a supposedly reasonable rationalist
philosophy characterized by a preference for reasoning over experience which inevitably arises in
impersonal fields such as the sciences. Although science avoids preternatural speculation on principle,
quantum theory s implications alter the fundamental way in which we understand what is at a quantum
level, and such a revelation transcends any reifications participated by preceding generations.
Fortunately, English philosopher Owen Barfield s Saving the Appearances transcends temporal reality,
bridging 1965 and 2015, while his book serves as a template through which we begin to ... Show more

Within a given reality, aspects indeed exist independent of human consciousness, but principal
causality belongs to consciousness. In short, society experiences phenomena and, seeking to
understand the world, its members then create representations, which define former unnamed
phenomena. By participating previous generations representations, society becomes temporally
distanced from its representations arbitrary nature, and succeeding generations participate those
representations. For this reason, alpha thinking s generational prominence will result in intermittent
generations deciding that reality exists external to them. At that point, they forget that human
consciousness produces existing representations, which echo society s collective memory.
Compounded with previous generations reifications, participating current representations lays idolatry
s foundation for subsequent generations. In this way, our idolatries and representations ascribe
historicity to a given reality, which lends a false credibility to that reality. As an example, those who
live in comfortably defined realities easily become complacent and display remarkable passivity to
reality s potential implications, thus ensuring pre existing paradigmatic reifications will continue to
thrive as present idolatries. Such inactivity in a complacent static society acts to preserve, but subtly

Persuasive Speech On Apprenticeships Pros And Cons
Hello from western North Dakota. I hope this un seasonably warm fall has found everyone in good
spirits, and that we don t wind up paying for it down the road. I haven t seen any frost teeth out there
yet, so I consider that a good sign!
I hope everyone has been paying attention to the recent boost in emphasis on education in North
Dakota, because in it may exist the ability to help foster interest in our apprenticeships, and ultimately
an increased interest in hiring our employers. Both of those, certainly are big positives. Fueled by a
large, bipartisan Congressional effort, the US Department of Labor awarded a $200,000
apprenticeship grant to North Dakota Job Service in early June. Following that award over the
summer, the North Dakota Department of Commerce hosted a series of apprenticeship accelerator
meetings around the state, in an effort to increase the amount of registered apprenticeships. In
cooperation with the Dept. of Labor, representatives of the ND Department of Commerce and ND Job
Service distributed specific instructions and maintain an open link on their websites, in an effort to
help private employers develop their own apprenticeship programs. While it would certainly be a good
thing if the general public became aware, and hopefully accepting, of the benefits that apprenticeships
can provide, this recent fanfare may only serve to obscure the differences between registered and joint
programs. I believe that we may be able to capitalize on

Gentrification Advantages And Disadvantages
was a limitation in place. The development of the new housing complexes brought about the
investment in amenities. These, however, were pricey and most of the locals were not able to afford.
Gentrification has its benefits to the families that are categorized as low income earners. First, through
the development of infrastructure and opening up of newer shops and outlets, jobs are created. This
thus reduces unemployment and also makes these families improve on their livelihood through income
earned from the jobs they do in these new outlets. Secondly, with gentrification, better amenities are
provided. Schools and also health services are improved. Such improvements are beneficial to the
families as they can get better access to improved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fees skyrocket and most of these families cannot afford it. They thus end up having children with
low levels of education. Also, due to the cultural diversity, the minority poorer people are often
criminalized thus making life harder for them (Fainstein, 2014) Gentrification improves the social
factors that determine health. Since there was the creation of newer hospitals and facilities, the
communities in Williamsburg benefited from better healthcare. On top of that improved security and
better housing structures made health better in Williamsburg. Since levels of education are also
increased by gentrification, health got a major boost. These show that health, in general, was improved
by gentrification. However, access for the more impoverished families was still an issue due to the
high charges. When the values of property rise, the original residents are affected both positively and
negatively. However, they are affected more negatively as they are forced to vacate their homes as
they can no longer afford the rent. This leads to displacement of more impoverished families. On top
of that, they are forced to spend a lot on rent alone in case they stay. This might affect their finances,
and they could end up bankrupt. Their health may deteriorate too because of depression as well as
higher charges in the hospital. However, they may get advantages such as improved housing
conditions and better security and environment.

Council House Research Paper
Council House 2 (CH₂)
Council House 2 is the City of Melbourne s 10 storey office building that was completed in 2006. It
has approximately 540 staff who are housed there with retail on the ground floor and underground
parking. Its ground floor area is 12,536m² which consists of:
1995m² GFA basement areas
500m² net letable area (NLA) ground floor retail
9373m² total NLA
1064m² GFA typical floor
It was designed as a world leading Six Star office building which incorporated sustainable features
such as the innovative cooling storage system in the basement to vertical gardens and wind turbines on
the roof. The sustainable features are incorporated throughout all 10 floors of the building.

This again helps it gain its Six Star Green rating. Figure 1 shows how the final design of CH₂ is by far
better than the existing building, and the improvement it s made from a 4.5 star building.
HEATING COOLING
CH₂ heating and cooling system is designed to have a temperature of 21 23°C. It works with a
combination of ceiling panels and chilled beams which can be found above the windows. These beams
create cool air at around 18°C. Heat is absorbed in the concrete ceilings and through the natural
ventilation of the building will be removed. As approximately 70% of the ceiling is curved in shape,
there is expected to be a 14% decrease in cooling energy usage by the natural ventilation process.
Figure 1 show s how the cooling of the offices is expected to work.
The heating requirements of CH ₂ are expected to be minimal as there will be enough heat generated
by lighting, equipment and the occupants of the building. The heat generated is anticipated to maintain
the preferred thermal comfort level. Some traditional heating may be needed during winter, which will
be generated through a gas heating system of from heat created by gas fired mirco turbine. Figure 2

Reflection On The Lense Of Faith
We are told to follow the things that set our souls on fire. pressured to find something that brings us
more joy than anything else. We are barred at a young age with the responsibility of finding our
calling before we even know what it is. As a 15 year old girl, I didn t know where to find this fire or
even where to find my calling in the world. I was convinced one didn t exist, I was convinced that it
was me against the world. It was me against the 7 billion screaming people trying to find their footing,
and I felt like I didn t have a voice loud enough or feet big enough to ever do this. I felt like the world
was suffocating me and there was never going to be a chance for another breath of air. All I could
understand from the world, was we live, we suffer, we grow old and we die.
Through the lens of conformity, one blinded by worldly desires, it is incredible how much we cannot
see, and surprising how much we can see. But when we open our hearts and put on a lens of faith we
can slowly begin to see what has been in front of us all along. For me, this was a world full of light,
peace, and pure joy.
I first put on a lense of faith on May 14, 2016, my 16th birthday, when I first read the Book of
Mormon and went to church. I was later baptized and confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter Day Saints on February 19, 2017.
I was born on Mother s Day of 2000. My parents would tell you that I was a force of nature, one they
often feared to recon with.

Bioethics And Medical Ethics
1. ETHICS
The research work is on ethics and morality. These are often used interchangeably. Moral is from
Latin word moralis which means manners or customs. Looking at it critically ethics does not teach
how to live moral life, it merely help to clarify what is right or wrong which assists in achieving one s
goal. While moral is about purpose, intention, motive and choice which are either right or wrong in
the light of manners and customs. Morality is applied to acts and behavior while ethics is applied to
the person.
2. BIOETHICS
The research work is on bioethics and medical ethics. Bioethics is an area of philosophy that focuses
on ethical issues that comes from biomedical scientific technologies and a subfield of ethics. Bioethics
is not for philosophers alone but it is multidisciplinary in nature which makes the field very exciting
and important. Bioethicists learn from doctors and other scientist working in research and clinic are of
biomedicine. The heterogeneous nature of the contributions to this concept enriches it as a discipline
thereby improving its relevance and value. Bioethics is continually being improved by clinical, legal
and philosophy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, there are clear distinctions between both. Not only doctors can do medical ethics, but other
health and social care professionals, lawyers, policy makers and philosophers are involved, but it is
mostly particular to doctors and patient alike. Medical ethics focuses on medical treatment of humans
in particular, but bioethics is more on the theoretical ethical issues and concepts that surrounds all
biomedical technologies like, xenotransplantation, stem cell therapy, cloning, and the use of animal
research. Medical ethics covers practical application in clinical settings as well as work on its history,

The Concept Of Smart Grids Design
In order to identify one major issue in smart grids design, we propose a thought experiment: what if
we could built a smart power supply system from scratch? Would we rely on existing concepts, or we
would adopt a radically different approach? Imagine this new, technologically advanced, country
called Newlandia. Newlandia may or may not be particularly rich with energy generating natural
resources and has never had a power supply system. However, Newlandia enjoys major benefits: it is
free from political hurdles, existing infrastructure from other producers, and technological and
financial limitations, giving the designers unlimited choices and a single objective in mind: design a
reliable power system. Since the authors of this assignment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

At first glance this makes much more sense in remote areas where grid connections are impractical or
economically infeasible to built. However this approach is even more promising in urban areas. In
Newlandia, electric cars are the new normal, which will not be an outlandish stretch of the
imagination in the real world in 20 30 years. Each day, car owners would come home from work, turn
on the lights, put the kettle on, turn the oven on to make dinner and of course, plug in their car. This
will dramatically increase peak power demand, which is practically impossible to supply by using
nuclear or coal plants for example, or alternatively, many more plants would have to be built. In such
scenario, probably the classical, centralised power supply system is not the optimal option. But if we
were to chose the distributed approach, what would be the main obstacle when it comes to realising
this vision? The answer, we believe, lies in energy storage. Energy storage is the only link in the chain
that has the potential to partially or even completely eliminate the challenges of power grid design.
These include, but are not limited to, distributed deployment of renewable energy, energy
intermittency, transmission congestion, frequency/voltage regulation, growth of loads on feeders,
power quality

Dbq Queen Elizabeth 1
Queen Elizabeth s reign lasted from 1558 1603 during the Protestant Reformation, the Counter
Reformation, and the Renaissance (when it was brought to England). She achieved major successes
and established a stabilized nation during her reign. When she assumes the throne, after the death of
her half sister, Queen Mary I, she faced many challenges, such as the bankruptcy of England,
European powers that were trying to reestablish Catholicism, such as Spain and France, and negative
criticism denouncing her as a ruler and as the head of the Church of England. It was against church
teaching and Bible teachings, for any woman to rule over a country. Elizabeth I inherited the
responsibility of governing the kingdom of England despite criticism. In ... Show more content on

In her speech to Parliament in 1559, she claims that she has already been married to England
(Document 7). This means that she will take care of England like a dutiful wife would care for her
husband. However, because it was published after her death, the purpose of this document was to
explain the legacy of Queen Elizabeth, and how great of a ruler she was despite being a woman.
Another response to views on women in leadership was the execution of her cousin Mary, Queen of
Scots, due to the threat Elizabeth felt from Mary in an attempt of assassination. This shows how
Elizabeth is able to make the most difficult decisions, which is a skill required to have when ruling
over a nation. One must also note that women were viewed as weak emotional human beings. But
Elizabeth showed that she was not weak by executing her family member and thus, shows her sense of
duty to her kingdom. Another example of a positive response was at the start of her reign, when
England was on the verge of bankruptcy, due to the financial destruction caused by the previous Tudor
reigns. Nonetheless, she managed to make England debt free, proving that she had the capability of
dealing with difficult monetary tasks and therefore, responded to the opinions of women not being
able to rule successfully. Finally, before the invasion of the

Metaatropic Dwarfism Essay
Metatropic dwarfism
Metatropic dysplasia, also known as metatropic dwarfism is a very rare disease in humans that is often
deadly and identifiable after birth or into the infant stages of a baby. It has been discussed that MTD is
in part caused by mutations in the TRVP4 gene. This is located at 12q24.1 which is the long (q) arm of
chromosome 12 at position 24.1, base pairs 109,784,087 to 109,833,407. There have been
approximately 81 cases reported so far with odds of 1/1,000,000. A few cases have been severe to the
point of endangering the mother s life. This type of dwarfism affects the human skeleton in such a way
that affects normal growth. Body proportions are abnormal, and a child will have unusual features
such as shorter limbs, a narrow chest, and bones that have not developed correctly. Several facial
deformities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Metatropic dysplasia is inherited and can be passed down, meaning that is its autosomal dominant. It
is also possible that there will be reoccurrences between siblings, though it is variable over time.
Testing of the TRPV4 gene is available through CTGT and other corporations that specialize in
genetic sequencing. Prenatal ultrasound scans will show narrow spinal canals and shortening of long
bones and the supporting structure. Treatment of metatropic dysplasia after birth is possible but its
effectiveness varies from each case and it is often an aggressive and labor intensive path to follow.
Doctors main goals for patients with MTD are to establish satisfactory respiratory and pulmonary
functions as well as reducing the amount of skeletal deformity. This may require several surgeries that
have their own risks and outpatient treatment plan. If doctors can keep patients with MTD alive for
longer periods of time, they will be able to determine which methods of treatment are the most
effective. Since this is a genetic mutation, each case will require their oun unique set of tests, since
there may be more than one contributing

How Exercise Affects How The Heart Beats
Four interval times (PR, RT, TP and RR) measured in seconds were recorded both with the subject at
rest and after the subject had exercised. The PR and RT intervals remained virtually unchanged with
the PR intervals remaining the same both before and after exercise with an interval time of 0.15
seconds, and the RT interval increase by 0.01 seconds from 0.37 at rest to 0.38 seconds after exercise.
More substantial changes were noted in TP and RR intervals. The TP interval decreasing from 0.32
seconds at rest to just 0.08 seconds after exercise, a decrease of 0.24 seconds (just 25% of the resting
0.32 seconds). The RR interval decreased from 0.84 seconds at rest to 0.61 seconds seconds after

from the ecg recording. I was confused about how to perform the procedure so I thought I needed to
hit the start button four times which just resulted in a very strange ECG. I later realized however in
order to record the results I had to let it run for a few seconds and then measure the ECG with the
black lines and then press the journal icon to record these results.
1. Are any of the time intervals approximately constant?
There were two intervals remained constant between at rest and after exercise, the PR interval and the
RT interval (there was a clinically insignificant 0.01 second increase in the RT interval after exercise,
however I suspect this was likely due to measurement error error rather than an actual increase).
2. With the exception of the R R interval, which time interval shows the greatest difference between
resting and post exercise? Explain this observation.
Two intervals did show a significant shorting post exercise. Besides the RR interval, the other
recorded interval which contained a marked shortening after exercise was the TP interval. To
understand why the TP interval is shortened when the heart rate increases and lengthened when the
heart rate slows, one must first understand what the TP interval is. The TP interval, which is the the
interval between the end of the

Television In the Lives of Children Essay
Television In The Lives Of Children
Consistently, everywhere, in this century there seems to be some form of a TV screen. These screens
appear in restaurants, schools, at work, at home, and quite possibly more. What is forgotten in society
is how that screen may affect the lives of the children in this modern world. When children are
constantly watching a television screen there may be consequences to their health and education. Most
parents do not have the ability to control what is shown on TV. Many programs disagreeably display
marathons after school and during holidays. Supposedly, adult shows are only showed late at night,
but with movies becoming more and more explicit, even bed time can t stop the most determined

Violence on the television can also be affecting children s health. Injuries are the leading cause of
death in children, and watching unsafe behavior on TV may increase children s risk taking behavior.
(Boyse Online). So, when watching Americas Funniest Home Videos make sure to monitor every
minor in the house (that may be their next idea of a fun game).
Violence on television can also be damaging to a child s reaction to the world Kids who view violent
acts are more likely to show aggressive behavior but also fear that the world is scary and that
something bad will happen to them. (Gavin Online). When young children see these explicit scenes of
violence on screen at that age, most cannot tell the difference from reality so, in the child s mind these
bad thing could befall them. Violence occurs so much on shows and movies, some violent acts that
happen in life are unnoticed The average American child will witness 200,000 violent acts on
television by age 18. Kids may become desensitized to violence and more aggressive. (Gavin Online).
It s important to teach the kids between right and wrong, but this becomes difficult when children are
constantly surrounded by television, Even though kids are taught by their parents that it s not right to
hit, television says it s OK to bite, hit, or kick if you re the good guy. This can lead to confusion when
kids try to understand the difference

the overall mistreatment of the people in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro. Brazil was not ready to say the

for both the Olympics and World Cup. They had to build stadiums fastly and they had to deal with the

a worldwide major sporting event. The best two examples to compare to Brazil are Sochi in 2014 and
Beijing in 2008. Sochi 2014 was not as bad as Brazil, but the preparations were morally questionable
when it came to some strategies. The Russian Government, however, was preparing for seven years
for the olympics in sochi, Brazil has been for only four years. Brazil is not ready to say the least, but
even with so much time some things happened that still were not so humane. Overall, Sochi was much
more of a success when it came to preparing for the olympics. In Sochi, there were wild dogs
everywhere in the streets. This fiasco with clearing the streets of dogs

The Effects Of Police Use Of Force
Police use of force in America has been and still is a major area of concern to the American public.
The media seemingly never runs out of stories and cases to push into the mainstream for the public to
watch and develop more concern for this area of law enforcement. Furthermore, there is a portion of
the population who believe that the use of force by law enforcement is disproportionately used on
minorities more specifically the African American community (Kolhatkar, 2017). However, is this use
of force epidemic a reality in both of these cases? Another use of force issue is the use of lethal force
by law enforcement officers. Again the argument seen in the media and social media is often that there
is a large portion of lethal force that is used on minorities as compared to Caucasian individuals
(Lowery, 2016). Additionally, that the use of lethal force should be avoided and in other cases being
used in excess (The Guardian, 2017). Current research in the field of police use of force and police use
of lethal force in relationship towards race is going to be reviewed in order to show a broader picture
that is more representative of the real issues.
The Numbers The numbers in police use of force vary depending on what measures are used. Was the
force reasonable or unreasonable or was force used improperly is just a few. Strictly looking at the
frequency of the use of force in encounters would lead one to believe there is no such epidemic as
media outlets would lead people

The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger
The Catcher in the Rye is a popular novel written by J.D. Salinger. Published in 1951, the book was
originally written for adults, but it is now remembered and adored by people from all parts of the
world and people from all walks of life especially by teenagers a likely effect that was only inevitable
considering the center stage of the narrator the great crumby flake Holden Caulfield, to use his style of
speaking, who accurately portrayed teenage angst and loneliness in a style that many youngsters could
and do relate to.1 The book is about his quest to find himself after being threatened with expulsion at

But it isn t easy to determine the length of this double standard because of the scarcity of good, honest
conversations and discussions about and with other men and boys throughout the book. Caulfield s
trials and tribulations have a heavy emphasis on women and girls, so that is why much of the info on
this lens naturally lens towards discussions on feminine social standards from his perspective. There
are many women and girls that Holden Caulfield talks about, talks to, and thinks about throughout the
novel. For further analysis on his relationships with them, they can be divided into three categories:
figures of authority, lovers, and family. Caulfield s own mother would have been the character of
choice for the first category, but since there is a scarce amount of conversation with her we ll have to
default to the next most talkative female authority figure: the mother of a fellow classmate named
Ernest Morrow. He met the woman on a commuter rail heading to New York from Caulfield s school
dorm in Pencey Prep in Agerstown, Pennsylvania. She initiated a conversation with him after she
noticed a school sticker on one of his suitcases. They mostly discussed about the school and about
Ernest Morrow s personality and behavior, and of course the usual motherly inquiry of whether or not
they were friends. Although Caulfield ended up giving his name as a non existent Rudolf Schmidt, the

Introduction
This paper seeks to discuss the leadership styles of two Lieutenant Colonels (Lt.Col.) in the Israeli
during a mass evacuation from the Gaza strip. The circumstances of the evacuation are that the Israeli
government decided that all settlements in the area surrounding the Gaza Strip would be abandoned,
against the wishes of the settlers some of whom had been living there for over twenty years. In
addition to the leadership styles topics of discussion will include three examples of leadership actions

instructed his team leaders to identify those least suitable for the mission, second he asked all of the
feeder units for highly qualified troops which was met with resistance and lastly he went to his
superior and advised him that Without the personal involvement and commitment to the mission on
the part of the commanders of the dispatching units, we have no chance of succeeding. (Laufer) The
pros of each example are that Lt. Col. Yaron made critical decisions that ultimately led to the
successful evacuation of the Gaza Strip. Whenever he was meet with resistance he handled the matter
diplomatically by first trying to allow the resistors to adjust their attitudes via face to face
communication and finally by getting higher ups support. The cons of each example are if he had of

Ky-Nos Castle Analysis
The Hauntings of Craig Y Nos Castle in Wales
By Claire Barrand
Craig Y Nos Castle which in Welsh, means Rock of the Night, Maintains a reputation as the Most
Haunted Castle in Wales, having been visited by Most Haunted, alongside numerous other TV shows
which have also filmed at the castle. My sister Linzi and I have investigated this location together
twice and have not been disappointed, in fact, we would have to say this location is in our top three for
paranormal activity!
The Early Years
The history itself is epic enough to inspire a Hollywood feature film. The story begins in 1840 when
the neo gothic castle, set beside the River Tawe on the edge of the breathtaking Brecon Beacons, was
built by an ambitious Captain Rice Davies. Using local limestone to form the impressive structure he
got carried away with turrets and pyramids and ran out of money being unable to complete the north
wing before moving in in 1843 to begin his life as a country gentleman.
Davies became a county magistrate and a High Sheriff of Brecknock. However, rumours of a curse on
the family spread as misfortune fell upon the family when his younger son died of cholera in 1851,
and he lost both his wife and his daughter to illness before he died in 1862.
Two years later, his Davies son died in a hunting accident on the Isle of Wight. Sarah, the eldest
daughter, and her husband Captain Allaway lived at the castle after his death, until disaster struck once
more and the Captain also died a few years later. His widow relocated to Tenby, and the property sold
in 1875 76, purchased by the Morgan family of Abercrave for £6000.
The Adelina Patti Years
In 1878, the castle and its setting attracted the attentions of the leading opera star of that day Italian
Adelina Patti, who announced that she had found the home of her dreams and an offer of £3500
accepted for the castle and surrounding parkland.
A demanding soprano with a colourful private life, she was said to have had numerous affairs
including one with the tenor Mario. The prima donna was the at the peak of her spectacular career and
desired to spend the rest of her life at Craig y nos. She built an incredible private theatre which held

The Feudal System Of The Middle Ages Of England
The Feudal System in the Middle Ages of England was not the best system of government to go by for
everyone since it gave most of its power to the King, and made it impossible for the lower class to
improve themselves economically. People of higher rank expected the lower ranks of society to pledge
their loyalty to them and in turn, protected them. There came a time where everybody became tired of
never progressing, and people started to do something about it. The end to Feudalism did not just
happen overnight, it took many years, a deadly disease and many angry peasants for the social class to
rise. First the nobles got the King to sign the Magna Carta, which limited the King s power, years later
a deadly disease caused the population of England to decrease by 1/3, and finally, The Peasants Revolt
which changed England forever. Feudalism first began after a collapse of the Roman Empire, and
barbarian tribes invading England. The social structure that became the Feudalism, consisted of the
clergy, knights and peasants. The clergy were the religious people that dedicated themselves to the
salvation of humanity. Kings, high nobles, and low nobles who were soldiers and meant to defend
others. The peasants were the people who grew crops and tended animals. Some rented their land and
the serfs worked for knights and were legally tied to that land. Everyone had obligations to someone.
This was the way the feudal system worked. As time went by though, people realized they

The humming was increasing in intensity when the first tentative wave of the fog arrived at our camp
like I imagined the Angel of Death appeared as it rolled through Egypt. Actually, it looked exactly like
what the special effects department dreamed up in the movie The Ten Commandments, a malicious
flowing black fog looking for a victim. The tip of the first wave descended on us and all the mystery
of the morning was explained in one horrifying second. Yikes! It was the Angel of Death s cousin, a
world class hatch of mosquitoes and they were hungry! Billions of the little blood suckers and they
were all headed our way! We leaped up and broke camp in record time. All thoughts of a leisurely
departure were swept away by the swirling, humming black monster rolling down on us. We hastily
crammed in the rest of our stuff, cinched up the ropes, tied them off, lifted the litter and ran! Mosquito
repellant was something else I forgot. Steve and I ran drunkenly with the litter over the uneven ground
trying to outrun the bloodsucking horde. We pushed, shoved and cursed it over the tree trunks and
rocks that blocked our way and arrived at the upper trailhead, spent. We set the hated thing down and

American settlers in Salem, Massachusetts were plagued with what they claimed were acts of the

witches was the village pastor s slave Tituba Indian. Tituba was especially vulnerable to accusations to

his girls actions were not of physical nor mental disease and of spiritual doings, an aunt of one of the
afflicted girls used Tituba to experiment using a urine cake (eventually this aunt would be scorned for

was Tituba s doing and made several accusations of her acts of witchcraft, Tituba rejected all

Analysis Of Rajeev Ravisankar s Sweatshop Oppression
In his opinion essay, Sweatshop Oppression, published in the student newspaper, The Lantern, at Ohio
State University, writer Rajeev Ravisankar uses his article as a platform to raise awareness about the
deplorable conditions in sweatshops. Ravisankar awakens his readers from their slumber and brings to
light the fact that they are partly responsible for the problem. His first goal in the essay is to designate
college students as conscious consumers who look to purchase goods at the lowest prices. Then he
makes the connection between this type of low cost consumerism and the high human cost that
workers are forced to pay in sweatshops. His second goal is to place the real burden of responsibility
directly with the companies that perpetuate this system of exploitation. Finally, he proposes what can
be done about it. By establishing a relationship that includes himself in the audience, working to
assign responsibility to the reader, and keeping them emotionally invested, Ravisankar makes a
powerful argument that eventually prompts his student reader to take responsibility for their actions
and make a change. For Ravisankar s argument to be effective, he makes a connection with the
readers. He accomplishes this by including himself in the audience and, also, by earning their trust.
This style of writing uses us and we in the dialog which establishes himself as being part of the
conversation. To make the trust connection with his readers, he first clarifies how their low cost
consumerism is partly responsible for the problem, but he does so in an empathetic way. He sees their
position as, being the poor college students that we all are, which is an understandable way of
including himself while consciously giving the students a personal stake in the argument and
assigning them responsibility. In this way, the writer immediately connects with his audience and
draws them in by being sympathetic to their needs. After he gains their trust, he works toward gaining
sympathy for the worker who are forced to pay the price for the students irresponsible but
unintentional choices. During this discussion of the problem, Ravisankar writes as if he is assuming
that the students are unaware of how much their

who was doing research on the adverse affects of Prozac. He was taking Prozac for Chronic Fatigue
Syndrome and had been using it for a year; I quite liked the unsought for increase in confidence,
sociability, etc. However, after he stopped taking it he began to experience what he called a whole host
of mental problems that I d never experienced before. He described a lack of emotional response that
soon became a full blown depersonalization disorder, which was accompanied by episodes of
derealization, extreme experiences of mental impairment, and loss of short term memory. He went to
seven of Los Angeles s top psychiatrists, each one telling him the same thing. They claimed that it

began to experience nauseatingly violent dreams with a constant state of unremitting
depersonalization . . .to the point where I could barely function. It got so bad that he began to consider

In a last resort, the writer decided to visit Dr. Murray Susser, one of the foremost authorities on the

the psychiatrists who had told him that it had nothing to do with Prozac, Dr. Susser said B**L S**T!

The Albanians were the majority and the Serbians being the minority. In this situation, the Serbians
oppressed the Albanians. In retaliation, the Albanians formed a terrorist group known as the Kosovo
Liberation Army (KLA) which was a terrorist group that fought for the rights of the Albanians. The
various actions taken by the KLA caused NATO involvement. Their involvement required a series of
air raids and bombings to flush the Serbian people out of Kosovo. However, the story gets much
deeper than that. As we delve deeper in to the situation, it becomes evident that negotiations were
close to being met; however, they failed due to NATO military annex (Gibbs). Once the negotiation
agreements failed, the US sided with the Albanians and proceeded to attack the Serbians. In their
attack, the US used it superior technology (planes) to gain an advantage over the Serbs. Rather than
constantly sending men in to harm s way, the US released a series of air raids to flush out the Serbians.
Now, from reading this one may think that the US fully achieved its goal by flushing out the Serbians
which they did, but there is more as well. According to Dr. Grant Hammond, the US can say that they
met their goal by purging Kosovo of the Serbians; however, can t say [they] won because [they] did
not accomplish the established goals. As stated by President Bill Clinton, these [goals] were to

Grandma Kuhn Definition Of A Mentor
Definition of mentor; An experienced and trusted advisor. We as catholics have some of the strongest
faith in our Lord, but who do we have as mentors? We all have different people we see as mentors.
Whether in sports, education, life, and in this case faith. For my faith mentor I look up to my grandma

contrary to what many people think, cannibalism is very much alive and still being practiced within

When the common person thinks of cannibalism a disturbed serial killer who cuts his victims into

rising yearly, the number of uninsured Americans projects to continue to climb. While new

likely outweigh the savings. As the cost of healthcare rises, many employers will be forced to

B. Individual Coverage/Shared Responsibility Payment Mandate
The Individual Care Mandate of the PPACA requires individuals to maintain a minimum amount of
essential health insurance coverage. For each month that an individual goes without the required
coverage, the individual will, when filing taxes, be required to pay to the IRS a tax designed to cover
their share of the insurance and healthcare marketplace. This concept is known as the Shared

penalties, the IRS is prohibited from using many of its normal enforcement tools, such as criminal

The IC SRP will reduce the cost shifting problem by driving healthy individuals, who would otherwise
not purchase insurance, into the marketplace. This ensures that insurance companies will remain

the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire that followed. To explain the complexities of the Roman
Republic, the Empire, and their political complexities can be a daunting task. For nearly ten centuries
Rome would rule most of the known world before the fall of the Western Empire (Byzantine) in 476
C.E. Before that fall occurred, a fundamental change would take place that would transform the
original Republic into the Roman Empire. Many factors would be directly and indirectly responsible
for this transition. These would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By that time, the Republic had extended its control throughout the Mediterranean Sea and as far as
Britain. That control would operate under an informal unwritten constitution, and establish the use of
Latin as its official language, while codifying rights, responsibilities, and status under a written law.
Beginning with the Law of the Twelve Tables, Roman jurisprudence would develop over the next one
thousand years into a legal system that would eventually become the early basis for law in continental
Europe. Even English and North American common law owes more than a passing debt to the
Romans. Case law and precedents find their roots in a Latin legal term, stare decisis, meaning to stand
by things decided . The development of a written law was seen as a method of eliminating
indiscriminant application of the law by magistrates and officials upon the lower plebeian class.
The Assemblies
The establishment of a written law set the foundation for a republican government whereby
responsibilities and duties would be divided among various representative assemblies. Their members
would in turn cast votes concerning the action to be taken in
regard to the issues placed before them. Membership in these early assemblies would be limited by
such things as class, income, family ties, and affiliations. The assemblies had various and specific
functions within the Roman republican

Daddy By Sylvia Plath Figurative Language
The poem, Daddy , by Sylvia Plath, made the reader feel the hatred and bitterness the speaker felt
towards her father. This poem could also be used to let the speaker find peace and finally let go of all
the emotional torment her father may have caused her before his death. Throughout the poem, she
used a complex combination of imagery and figurative language to describe how she felt towards her
father when she realized who he really was a brute man with no heart. Plath uses imagery throughout
this poem to convey the severity of the wrongdoings she had experienced in her life. For example, in
line 56, she says, Bit my pretty red heart in two, which appeals to the sense of sight. This part is found
as she is describing the picture that

Theories Of Biological Determinism
The first theories to explain criminality said that society could tell that certain people were criminals
because of how they looked. There are quite a few theories that talk about determining criminals by
how they look. One example is biological determinism. Biological determinism said that criminals
were born and that criminologists could determine the crime that these criminals would commit based
off of their body type. For example, phrenology studied the bumps on people s heads. Franz Joseph
Gall theorized that certain areas of the brain controlled certain behaviors and traits (Grau). The areas
that were larger were considered to be more important so these areas could be felt by phrenologists to
find the dominant traits of the brain. There was also the somatotype school that said body build and
behavior were related. There are three body types that were brought to the United States by William
Sheldon. These types were endomorph, mesomorph, and ectomorph. Endomorphs committed fraud,
mesomorphs committed violent offenses, and ectomorphs were thieves and swindlers. ... Show more

Charles Goring found that most criminals were abnormally low in intelligence and believed that this
was hereditary. Henry Goddard also believed that there was a connection between criminals and their
intelligence level. Goddard conducted tests at the Vineland Training School for Feebleminded Boys
and Girls in New Jersey and found that the cutoff for normal intelligence was the mental age of 13
(Grau). An example of a hereditary theory is the XYY syndrome. This is when males were an extra Y
chromosome. During a study researchers found that inmates with the extra Y chromosome were taller,
more aggressive, and more violent (Adler 83). This theory has since been disproved because not all
criminals had this

Relationship marketing as a marketing technique is where a business focuses on the long term value of
customers. Tesco club cards are used to gain loyalty from their customers as the company gives them

This loyalty offer helps the company keep a customer for life.

  • 2. Stereotyping In The Workplace Today one thing that stereotyping is a big problem in, is the workforce. Stereotyping plays a big role in gun owners and how gun owners act around and to others. Black people and white people always get compared in some form or fashion and always have. Many sports teams are accused of stereotyping other teams, players, and sports officials. Stereotyping is one way that many Americans judge people. The problem with stereotypes in sports is that they often advance to common stereotypes in the society today. Most employers are not concerned with how their employees are with their natural born abilities. Stereotypes of African Americans them being authentic and due to segregation now does not help any for the blacks today therefore, blacks are stereotyped more as thugs than they are as successful like most white men and women. However, the stereotypes of white Americans being hard working, disciplined and smart are helpful to them in finding employment. Former NFL player Steve McNair played for a small Black college only because every big university s colleges recruited him to play defensive back instead of quarterback, that was his natural ... Many moms with children in their car lock the doors because to them he looks like a threat. Little did they know he has never harmed anyone or anything and would not, he is just carrying a pistol for self defense and he has a consoled weapon permit. So many people stereotype everyone around then that today our society is scared of one another and cannot seem to work together. • 3. “While Shareholders and Managers Will Have Different... Managers are hired to act on behalf of the shareholders of a firm. However, this is not always the case as both parties have different objectives. The difference in interests between shareholders and managers derives from the separation of ownership and control in a corporation (Berk and DeMarzo, 2011: 921). Whereas shareholders are interested in maximising their own wealth, managers may have more personal interests which differ to that of the shareholders. Downs and Monsen (no date, cited in Chin, Cooley and Monsen, 1968:435) suggest that managers self interest lies in maximising their life time income and that such self interest will be congruent with profit maximisation for the firm only in special cases . This conflict between both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although it may be a simple solution, there are costs involved. Berk and DeMarzo (2011:922) state that as no one shareholder has an incentive to bear these costs, as the benefits are then divided between all shareholders, they instead elect a board of directors to monitor the managers on their behalf. The directors duties include hiring the executive team, approving major investments and acquisitions, and dismissing executives if necessary (Berk and DeMarzo, 2011: 922). The level of monitoring required differs across firms and is based on the magnitude of the incentive gap between principal and agent (Beatty and Zajac, 1994, cited in Westphal and Zajac, 1994:125). However, the main factor affecting the level of monitoring provided is the cost, otherwise all rational firms would monitor maximally, irrespective of the strength of incentive compensation contracts or other factors (Westphal and Zajac, 1994:125). Although the board of directors are hired to keep a close eye on top management, the agency problem may still exist. This will occur when the director s duties in monitoring have been compromised as they have connections with management. A way of overcoming this problem is to hire directors who are independent to the company, as they are deemed to be better monitors of managerial effort. As Mehran (1995:166) states, outside directors are more independent of top management and thus better represent the interests of shareholders than do inside ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Ownership of Digital Downloads Ownership of Digital Downloads Digital downloads are intellectual Properties of the innovators and the actual owners of the ideas uploaded online. Ownership of digital content is exclusively reserved for the copyright owners who have spent many years and others decades trying to come up with an idea. Downloading of digital content online does not make that user the owner, and as such, there are no rights that have been transferred to the user except those of using the content. For instance, a user is allowed to listen and enjoy the downloaded music, watch the movies and read the books found online but it ends at that. They cannot hold any ownership rights other than those of using it. Technology has evolved with high speed and it attracts many people especially the youths who prefer to use online downloads as opposed to tangible sources. As result, people who have produced their content such as books, music and film are attracted to upload their content online for people to buy it and then download it. Sales are better online than on the stores as it is convenient, faster and accessible. The internet provides an easy method of sale but the prices are much lower than those of purchasing a tangible content such as a book, a CD or a tape. Books, CDs and tapes carry ownership rights and can be considered the buyers property as opposed to the online copy which ownership does not leave the copyrighter. In this case, you cannot be said to own something you cannot show or hold. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Literary Devices In Norton Juster s The Phantom Tollbooth Norton Juster s book, The Phantom Tollbooth successfully used different types of literary devices to introduce the main theme of the novel which was the importance of education. Juster told the story of a boy named Milo who was described as, ...a boy... who didn t know what to do with himself not just sometimes, but always (1961, p. 9). Milo was very indecisive and overall, he leads a pretty boring and uneventful life. However, all of that changed when he came home from school one day and noticed a mysterious tollbooth in his bedroom. The tollbooth made him start to realize the value of education and the importance of enjoying what was going on in his day to day life. The literary devices Juster chose to use in his writing increased the quality of his work and they also helped allow him to engage his readers in what they were reading more. Juster uses a wide variety of different types of literary devices throughout the entire story but three of the most common are irony, puns, and allegory. One of the most ironic moments in the book is when Milo, Tock, and Humbug enter the Valley of Sound on their way to Digitopolis. From the time they entered the valley it is obvious that something was missing. Juster wrote, at first it was difficult to tell just what had changed it all looked the same and it all smelled the same but for some reason, nothing sounded the same (1961, p. 144). By making the Valley of Sound of all places completely silent in the book, readers become more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Reality As The Product Of Human Consciousness PART THREE REALITY REALITY AS THE PRODUCT OF HUMAN CONSCIOUSNESS Since the Scientific Revolution, humanity has adhered to a supposedly reasonable rationalist philosophy characterized by a preference for reasoning over experience which inevitably arises in impersonal fields such as the sciences. Although science avoids preternatural speculation on principle, quantum theory s implications alter the fundamental way in which we understand what is at a quantum level, and such a revelation transcends any reifications participated by preceding generations. Fortunately, English philosopher Owen Barfield s Saving the Appearances transcends temporal reality, bridging 1965 and 2015, while his book serves as a template through which we begin to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Within a given reality, aspects indeed exist independent of human consciousness, but principal causality belongs to consciousness. In short, society experiences phenomena and, seeking to understand the world, its members then create representations, which define former unnamed phenomena. By participating previous generations representations, society becomes temporally distanced from its representations arbitrary nature, and succeeding generations participate those representations. For this reason, alpha thinking s generational prominence will result in intermittent generations deciding that reality exists external to them. At that point, they forget that human consciousness produces existing representations, which echo society s collective memory. Compounded with previous generations reifications, participating current representations lays idolatry s foundation for subsequent generations. In this way, our idolatries and representations ascribe historicity to a given reality, which lends a false credibility to that reality. As an example, those who live in comfortably defined realities easily become complacent and display remarkable passivity to reality s potential implications, thus ensuring pre existing paradigmatic reifications will continue to thrive as present idolatries. • 8. Persuasive Speech On Apprenticeships Pros And Cons Hello from western North Dakota. I hope this un seasonably warm fall has found everyone in good spirits, and that we don t wind up paying for it down the road. I haven t seen any frost teeth out there yet, so I consider that a good sign! I hope everyone has been paying attention to the recent boost in emphasis on education in North Dakota, because in it may exist the ability to help foster interest in our apprenticeships, and ultimately an increased interest in hiring our employers. Both of those, certainly are big positives. Fueled by a large, bipartisan Congressional effort, the US Department of Labor awarded a $200,000 apprenticeship grant to North Dakota Job Service in early June. Following that award over the summer, the North Dakota Department of Commerce hosted a series of apprenticeship accelerator meetings around the state, in an effort to increase the amount of registered apprenticeships. In cooperation with the Dept. of Labor, representatives of the ND Department of Commerce and ND Job Service distributed specific instructions and maintain an open link on their websites, in an effort to help private employers develop their own apprenticeship programs. While it would certainly be a good thing if the general public became aware, and hopefully accepting, of the benefits that apprenticeships can provide, this recent fanfare may only serve to obscure the differences between registered and joint programs. These, however, were pricey and most of the locals were not able to afford. Gentrification has its benefits to the families that are categorized as low income earners. First, through the development of infrastructure and opening up of newer shops and outlets, jobs are created. This thus reduces unemployment and also makes these families improve on their livelihood through income earned from the jobs they do in these new outlets. They thus end up having children with low levels of education. Also, due to the cultural diversity, the minority poorer people are often criminalized thus making life harder for them (Fainstein, 2014) Gentrification improves the social factors that determine health. Since there was the creation of newer hospitals and facilities, the communities in Williamsburg benefited from better healthcare. On top of that improved security and better housing structures made health better in Williamsburg. Since levels of education are also increased by gentrification, health got a major boost. These show that health, in general, was improved by gentrification. However, access for the more impoverished families was still an issue due to the high charges. When the values of property rise, the original residents are affected both positively and negatively. However, they are affected more negatively as they are forced to vacate their homes as they can no longer afford the rent. This leads to displacement of more impoverished families. On top of that, they are forced to spend a lot on rent alone in case they stay. This might affect their finances, and they could end up bankrupt. Their health may deteriorate too because of depression as well as higher charges in the hospital. As a 15 year old girl, I didn t know where to find this fire or even where to find my calling in the world. I was convinced one didn t exist, I was convinced that it was me against the world. It was me against the 7 billion screaming people trying to find their footing, and I felt like I didn t have a voice loud enough or feet big enough to ever do this. • 13. Bioethics And Medical Ethics 1. ETHICS The research work is on ethics and morality. These are often used interchangeably. Moral is from Latin word moralis which means manners or customs. Looking at it critically ethics does not teach how to live moral life, it merely help to clarify what is right or wrong which assists in achieving one s goal. While moral is about purpose, intention, motive and choice which are either right or wrong in the light of manners and customs. Morality is applied to acts and behavior while ethics is applied to the person. 2. BIOETHICS The research work is on bioethics and medical ethics. Bioethics is an area of philosophy that focuses on ethical issues that comes from biomedical scientific technologies and a subfield of ethics. Bioethics is not for philosophers alone but it is multidisciplinary in nature which makes the field very exciting and important. • 14. The Concept Of Smart Grids Design In order to identify one major issue in smart grids design, we propose a thought experiment: what if we could built a smart power supply system from scratch? Would we rely on existing concepts, or we would adopt a radically different approach? Imagine this new, technologically advanced, country called Newlandia. Newlandia may or may not be particularly rich with energy generating natural resources and has never had a power supply system. However, Newlandia enjoys major benefits: it is free from political hurdles, existing infrastructure from other producers, and technological and financial limitations, giving the designers unlimited choices and a single objective in mind: design a reliable power system. Since the authors of this assignment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At first glance this makes much more sense in remote areas where grid connections are impractical or economically infeasible to built. However this approach is even more promising in urban areas. In Newlandia, electric cars are the new normal, which will not be an outlandish stretch of the imagination in the real world in 20 30 years. Each day, car owners would come home from work, turn on the lights, put the kettle on, turn the oven on to make dinner and of course, plug in their car. This will dramatically increase peak power demand, which is practically impossible to supply by using nuclear or coal plants for example, or alternatively, many more plants would have to be built. In such scenario, probably the classical, centralised power supply system is not the optimal option. But if we were to chose the distributed approach, what would be the main obstacle when it comes to realising this vision? The answer, we believe, lies in energy storage. Energy storage is the only link in the chain that has the potential to partially or even completely eliminate the challenges of power grid design. These include, but are not limited to, distributed deployment of renewable energy, energy intermittency, transmission congestion, frequency/voltage regulation, growth of loads on feeders, power quality ... She achieved major successes and established a stabilized nation during her reign. When she assumes the throne, after the death of her half sister, Queen Mary I, she faced many challenges, such as the bankruptcy of England, European powers that were trying to reestablish Catholicism, such as Spain and France, and negative criticism denouncing her as a ruler and as the head of the Church of England. Another response to views on women in leadership was the execution of her cousin Mary, Queen of Scots, due to the threat Elizabeth felt from Mary in an attempt of assassination. This shows how Elizabeth is able to make the most difficult decisions, which is a skill required to have when ruling over a nation. One must also note that women were viewed as weak emotional human beings. But Elizabeth showed that she was not weak by executing her family member and thus, shows her sense of duty to her kingdom. Another example of a positive response was at the start of her reign, when England was on the verge of bankruptcy, due to the financial destruction caused by the previous Tudor reigns. Again the argument seen in the media and social media is often that there is a large portion of lethal force that is used on minorities as compared to Caucasian individuals (Lowery, 2016). Additionally, that the use of lethal force should be avoided and in other cases being used in excess (The Guardian, 2017). Current research in the field of police use of force and police use of lethal force in relationship towards race is going to be reviewed in order to show a broader picture that is more representative of the real issues. The Numbers The numbers in police use of force vary depending on what measures are used. Was the force reasonable or unreasonable or was force used improperly is just a few. Caulfield s own mother would have been the character of choice for the first category, but since there is a scarce amount of conversation with her we ll have to default to the next most talkative female authority figure: the mother of a fellow classmate named Ernest Morrow. My sister Linzi and I have investigated this location together twice and have not been disappointed, in fact, we would have to say this location is in our top three for paranormal activity! The Early Years The history itself is epic enough to inspire a Hollywood feature film. The story begins in 1840 when the neo gothic castle, set beside the River Tawe on the edge of the breathtaking Brecon Beacons, was built by an ambitious Captain Rice Davies. Using local limestone to form the impressive structure he got carried away with turrets and pyramids and ran out of money being unable to complete the north wing before moving in in 1843 to begin his life as a country gentleman. Davies became a county magistrate and a High Sheriff of Brecknock. However, rumours of a curse on the family spread as misfortune fell upon the family when his younger son died of cholera in 1851, and he lost both his wife and his daughter to illness before he died in 1862. Two years later, his Davies son died in a hunting accident on the Isle of Wight. Sarah, the eldest daughter, and her husband Captain Allaway lived at the castle after his death, until disaster struck once more and the Captain also died a few years later. His widow relocated to Tenby, and the property sold in 1875 76, purchased by the Morgan family of Abercrave for £6000. The Feudal System Of The Middle Ages Of England The Feudal System in the Middle Ages of England was not the best system of government to go by for everyone since it gave most of its power to the King, and made it impossible for the lower class to improve themselves economically. People of higher rank expected the lower ranks of society to pledge their loyalty to them and in turn, protected them. There came a time where everybody became tired of never progressing, and people started to do something about it. The end to Feudalism did not just happen overnight, it took many years, a deadly disease and many angry peasants for the social class to rise. First the nobles got the King to sign the Magna Carta, which limited the King s power, years later a deadly disease caused the population of England to decrease by 1/3, and finally, The Peasants Revolt which changed England forever. Feudalism first began after a collapse of the Roman Empire, and barbarian tribes invading England. The social structure that became the Feudalism, consisted of the clergy, knights and peasants. The clergy were the religious people that dedicated themselves to the salvation of humanity. Kings, high nobles, and low nobles who were soldiers and meant to defend others. The peasants were the people who grew crops and tended animals. Some rented their land and the serfs worked for knights and were legally tied to that land. Everyone had obligations to someone. • 30. Analysis Of Rajeev Ravisankar s Sweatshop Oppression In his opinion essay, Sweatshop Oppression, published in the student newspaper, The Lantern, at Ohio State University, writer Rajeev Ravisankar uses his article as a platform to raise awareness about the deplorable conditions in sweatshops. Ravisankar awakens his readers from their slumber and brings to light the fact that they are partly responsible for the problem. His first goal in the essay is to designate college students as conscious consumers who look to purchase goods at the lowest prices. Then he makes the connection between this type of low cost consumerism and the high human cost that workers are forced to pay in sweatshops. His second goal is to place the real burden of responsibility directly with the companies that perpetuate this system of exploitation. Finally, he proposes what can be done about it. By establishing a relationship that includes himself in the audience, working to assign responsibility to the reader, and keeping them emotionally invested, Ravisankar makes a powerful argument that eventually prompts his student reader to take responsibility for their actions and make a change. For Ravisankar s argument to be effective, he makes a connection with the readers. He accomplishes this by including himself in the audience and, also, by earning their trust. This style of writing uses us and we in the dialog which establishes himself as being part of the conversation. To make the trust connection with his readers, he first clarifies how their low cost consumerism is partly responsible for the problem, but he does so in an empathetic way. He sees their position as, being the poor college students that we all are, which is an understandable way of including himself while consciously giving the students a personal stake in the argument and assigning them responsibility. In this way, the writer immediately connects with his audience and draws them in by being sympathetic to their needs. After he gains their trust, he works toward gaining sympathy for the worker who are forced to pay the price for the students irresponsible but unintentional choices. During this discussion of the problem, Ravisankar writes as if he is assuming that the students are unaware of how much their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
