Transjustic And Cultural Reflection Of A Personal Experience
There are a few memorable experiences that assisted me in learning to work with diverse clients and
caregivers with linguistic and cultural differences from my own. The first one being a client age 82
with a diagnosis of moderate severe global aphasia and severe verbal and oral apraxia. After a
transient ischemic attack (TIA) evolved into a left middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCA), her speech
output largely involved stereotypical ma utterances. This client has always arrived to her speech and
language sessions with a smile and in a timely manner. More often than not, we would start by some
small talk that involved some yes or no questions for her to answer and it was amazing what she can
convey with just her varying intonations of ma s and animated facial expressions. I found it
challenging to understand what she wanted to share in the beginning since I did not phrase my
questions or comments in a way that warranted clear answers nor did I use her low tech AAC book to
supplement the conversations but after learning to shape my own words and getting acquainted to her
AAC book, her responses became clearer to me. I had the pleasure with working with an amazing
individual with Locked in Syndrome who was 42 years old. Although limited physically, she floored
me with her motivation and humor during each session. This client and my supervisor taught me the
importance of using materials that related to their culture to spark interest but also to balance those
materials

Social Injustice In If You Come Softly, By Jacqueline Woodson
Different is Unique
Social injustice affects many people around the world. Race, religion, class, gender, and sexual
orientation are all apart of social injustice, outside characteristics are the first thing one is judged
upon. Today in society people get judged and dehumanized everyday, because they are looked at first
by their outside characteristics. In the realistic fiction books If You Come Softly by Jacqueline
Woodson, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne, and Miracle s boys also by Jacqueline
Woodson the authors demonstrate that social injustice can occur when individuals are viewed by only
their outward characteristics and beliefs.

Also people were treated in a way based off of their economic class. Bruno a young boy lived with his
family and they were wealthy. They had many people that worked for them, who were in a lower
class. [...] his mother has always told him that he was to treat Maria, respectfully and not just imitate
the way father spoke to her. You get your hands off my things (Boyne 1). In addition, Mariah is in a
lower class socially and economically, his father treated her like she was less than and had some type
of sickness. Bruno and his family had recently moved to Berlin for his father s job. His father was
apart of the Nazi soldiers and high up in the Nazi government. The Jewish people were captured and
put into concentration camps, were tortured, and dehumanized. No, not them, said Bruno. The people I
see from my window. In the huts, in the distance. They re all dressed the same. Ah those people, said
Father, nodding his head and smiling slightly. Those people . . . well, they re not people at all, Bruno
(Boyne 53). That all happened because of their religious beliefs. The Jewish community was turned
into less than they were. Also they were made into prisoners and people did not want to be seen with
them. Do you know this boy? repeated Kolter in a louder voice. Have you been talking to the
prisoners? (Boyne 172).

How Did Richard Nixon Checkers Speech
On September 23, 1952, the Republican Vice Presidential candidate, Richard Nixon gave a speech
famously known as the Checkers or the Fund speech. The speech addressed the controversy of a slush
fund of $18,000 dollars that had been donated from his political supporters for his personal use. The
accusation of the slush fund caused doubt about Nixon s position on the Republican ticket. In
response, Nixon broadcasted a thirty minute speech that included Nixon defending his innocence,
attacking those who supported the accusations, and urged the American people to believe in his
innocence so he could remain on the Republican ballot. The main claim in Nixon s Checkers speech
was that he was innocent from accepting funding for his personal ... Show more content on

a government payroll and or using his career as a lawyer, but rather accept the aid which people in his

after he was elected, and were pleased to do so. The next source of proof of his clean funding was a
legal audit, and a legal opinion by Gibson, Dunn, and Crutcher. All three men who wrote the legal
opinion were well respected lawyers whose opinions and claims were very valued and creditable with
the American public. The writing was based on pertinent laws, and statutes, together with the audit
report prepared by the certified public accountants. After showing the proof for the controversial
account of funds Nixon then addresses the question of How do we know that you did not feather your

owned. He makes this financial history document public, so anyone who questions Vice President

John Adams Essays
As the second president of the United States and the first vice president, John Adams had experienced
various kinds of lives of different social positions. Adams, in his early years, tried diverse professions
like writer, lawyer, public speaker, and congressman. Later, he became one of the leaders of several
political fields, such as the American Revolution and foreign relationships, whose contributions had
influenced the United States Constitution. People and nations are forged in the fires of adversity, said
by him, John Adams was more admirable to be a political philosopher than a politician. ( John Adams

(Shaw 25) It was a marriage of the mind and of the heart, which left a remarkable and shining
example for the following. In 1776, Adams devoted himself completely into the issues about
American independence. A resolution, namely the Declaration of Independence, claimed that actions
should be taken to make sure that every citizen of the United States should live in the happiness and
safety , was passed by Congress. Adams, as the writer of the introduction of the Declaration as well as
one of the editors of the draft, spelled out the principle of independence. While because of his belief
that the cause of independence was more important than some phenomena at that time, he did not
protest when Congress cut the denouncement of slavery from the Declaration, although he was a
lifelong opponent of it. Even though he was considered to have made little contributions to the details
of the Declaration of Independence, according to Thomas Jefferson, he served as the pillar of its
support on the floor Congress. (John Adams) A year later, Adams was elected by Congress to be a
diplomat to France, and three months later, he left America and set off for Europe. During his one and
half year stay in France, Adams kept sending numerous long letters to his friends and family, which
described his emotional feelings as well as the European affairs that he was dealing with. Meanwhile,
he observed the French court and national life, and found dramatic

Religion In The Sassanid Empire
Introduction Religion played an important role in Sassanid Empire, although the relationship between
Sasanian kings and religious practice was complex and inconsistent. It is not easy to uncover the
actual role of religion in the political culture in the Sassanid Empire. For instance, it is unclear
whether it was theology that drove political culture or politics influenced development of theology in
order to suit in the interests of rulers. In the light of evidence available in modern times, this paper
seeks to investigate the nature of the role of Zoroastrianism and the Zoroastrian priesthood in Sasanian
political culture.

My Story About My Trainer Essay
Just take a few deep breaths and relax , says my trainer as I feel beads of sweat running down my
forehead. My whole body is numb and my mind is racing while I try and recall everything I had
learned. I look into the crowd and just see darkness. I can hear people chanting my name. The lights
are all shining on me. I look across the ring and see my opponent. He stares me down but the look on
his face does not phase me. I turn around as my trainer gives me the last piece of advice. Then the bell
rings. I take a few steps forward and immediately run into what feels like a brick wall. My opponent
hits me straight in the face with a punch. How did I get here?
I fell in love with boxing the moment I stepped into the gym about two years ago. The first thing I saw
were two guys sparing and all of the sudden one of them took a punch to the face and fell to the
ground. The loud boom of his body hitting the canvas was like nothing I had ever seen before. I could
not wait to get in the ring. I started boxing lessons because I wanted to learn some type of self defense
and it was the most convenient. When I stepped into the ring for the first time and started doing drills I
found out I was pretty good. I was shocked because I had never done anything like this before, but it
felt great to be naturally talented at something. I did not want my talent to go to waste so I stuck with.
I eventually fell so in love with it that I gave up basketball, which was a sport I had

Steps to Preparation for Failure Mode and Effects Analysis
Pre Steps for preparing for FMEA.
Step 1: Select a process to evaluate with FMEA.
This is where a process to be evaluated with FMEA is carefully selected. When selecting a process,
special attention should be paid to the complexity of the process selected. A process that is not so large
and complex is preferred to a large and complex process. For example, select prevention of pressure
sore instead of pressure sore as a process to evaluate with FMEA. This is because evaluating pressure
will involve causes, prevention, treatment and risks factors.
Step 2: Recruit a multidisciplinary team.
The team should include everyone that is involved in the process. All team members do not
necessarily have to follow the process through the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Failure mode is anything that could possibly go wrong, whether minor, major, and rare problems.
After identifying failure modes, the team will also identify possible causes for each failure mode
listed.
Step 5: For each failure mode, have the team assign a numeric value for likelihood of each occurrence,
likelihood of detection, and severity.
In this step, the team assigns numeric value known as the Risk Priority Number (RPN). The purpose
of assigning RPN is to help the team identify areas that are most likely to have problem so that special
attention could be given to such areas and improvement made proactively.
After successfully going through the 5th step, the team will carry out the 3 steps of FMEA which are
the likelihood of occurrence, likelihood of detection, severity, and assign score as appropriate. 3.
Occurrence: This is when the team consensually answered the question of, how likely is it that this
failure will occur? The ability to answer this question will help the team to determine what score to
assign to the step in question. The score will determine the level of priority to be given to that
particular step. Score is assigned between one and 10. One means very unlikely to occur while 10
mean very likely to occur
Detection: The team seeks to answer the question of If this failure mode occurs, how likely is it that it
will be detected is? The team has to determine if

Rise Of Competitive Authoritarianism
The Rise of Competitive Authoritarianism: Main Features and Limits Steven Levitsky and Lucan Way
fashionably unveil the major features of this new political regime. As clearly explained by the authors,
Competitive Authoritarianism is a hybrid regime combining elements of Liberal Democracy and
Authoritarian rule, and, for this reason, many political philosophers like Fukuyama look upon it as a
transitional diminished democracy (Levitsky). However, political philosophers like Gat and Levitsky,
supported by other scholars including Roger Owen, argue that Competitive Authoritarian regimes are
promptly consolidating their political power in those country areas where Liberal Democracy is
weakening like in Ukraine and Turkey, or it failed in some African countries and the Middle East. In
sight of this speculative research, Competitive Authoritarianism is the current challenge to Liberal
Democracy, therefore it minimizes the chance of being considered a transitional political regime.
Although Fukuyama asserted that Competitive Authoritarian regimes naturally become either fully
democratic or completely authoritarian, Levitsky dares to say that making the ... Show more content

Introduction There is a huge debate on legislation for commercial sex workers; the ways in which
other forms of law and practice contribute to shaping the working environments of sex workers in
different places is less understood. The consequences of the lack of detection of the sex worker as a
person before the law in this country are barely discussed. Due to the absence of recognized legal
status always restricted to sex workers to get a birth certificate, identity card voter card which is also
violation of human rights, or other means that societies create a different mindset to recognize
individual legal personality, which make it possible to act that profession of sex work is against the
norms and values of the society and make claims in society. It can found easily that the sex worker is
deprived of the profit of citizenship even though they are born the country in which they work. We
draw particular attention to the failure, in many places, to identify sex workers as persons in the front
of law. In the absence of legal rights sex workers are enforceable to claims against office holders,
employers, and basic service providers on brothels that, as a consequence, are not held accountable to
sex workers. Regulation of commercial sex The basic mechanism for controlling sex work is criminal
law, which can make all or some activities

British Broadcasting Research Paper
The British Broadcasting Corporation is synonymous with British culture and is one of the most
beloved broadcasting corporations in the world today. Founded in 1922 by Scottish engineer John
Reith, the BBC s philosophy has remained the same throughout almost a century. John Reith was the
BBC s general manager when it was created in 1922 and its director general in 1927 when it became a
public corporation ( John Reith. ). Reith felt as he had a duty to improve England. He believed that
broadcasting should be held to the highest standards and guided by responsibility. He wished for the
BBC to represent the very best of human knowledge, effort and accomplishment (Great Thinkers:

The BBC took a number of steps to comfort the public. During the war, the BBC s hours increased
exponentially along with staff numbers. By 1946, the BBC staff had more than doubled (Cain 42 43).
In mid 1940, the BBC s news readers started identifying themselves so listeners could be certain they
were hearing BBC news. Yorkshireman Wilfred Pickles became a legendary reporter with his
distinctive northern accent ( 1940s. ) Not even the headquarters of the BBC was spared during the
vicious war. On October 15th, 1941, a German bomb hit the Broadcasting House. Seven people died
in the blast. Bruce Belfage, who was reading the nine o clock news at the time, continued as if nothing

asked to write Vs everywhere they could to represent victory for Allied forces. Unfortunately,
Germany used the V for Victory against Britain to represent an ancient German war cry, Viktoria . The

A heavy charged particle traversing matter loses energy mainly through the ionization and excitation

As protons move through liquid water, they ionize or excite atoms or molecules of the matter (water)
and deposit a dose or energy along their path. If a charged particle has a greater energy and moving
faster, it has a lower tendency to lose energy along its path in per unit path length.5 Similarly, at
higher energy, protons move relatively faster and thus ionize and excite fewer molecules, therefore, its
stopping power is lower.5 However, as their energy decrease, protons transfer more energy to the
medium and the stopping power would be higher as shown in Figure 1. Consequently, the stopping
power or LET depends on its energy.5 The energy loss increases towards the end of the range, reaches
a maximum, which is called the Bragg peak, and abruptly drop to zero before the protons stop. The
Bragg peak occurs because the interaction cross section of the medium increases as the proton s
energy decreases.1,

In the documentary, A Pleasure Unwoven, Dr. McCauley explains that until over a hundred years ago
doctors would usually try and treat the symptoms of a disease with poor outcomes and that most
diabetics died in early childhood (2009). It was not until the famous work of Louis Pasteur and Robert

By using this model we can see that if the organ was the pancreas, the defect Islet cell death (no

symptoms would get you nowhere. If, however, doctors were to treat the defect (no insulin) by using

Impact On The British Invasion
The British Invasion took place during the mid 1960 s. British musicians began to look toward their
American counterparts for inspiration, copying their styles and advertising to fans in the United States.
By this point, British youth had been interested in American rock and roll since the 1950 s, captivated
by its pronounced beats and suggestive lyrics (Robbins). However, Britain did not have the same
musical background as the United States. In the States, rock and roll emerged from a coalescence of
Country and Western, Rhythm and Blues, and Pop music (Stuessy). Because of this, rock from the
United States had deep roots, while rock from Britain before the mid 1960 s lacked depth and was
simply an imitation. Eventually, rock began to take off in Britain from two main locations: Liverpool
and London. This music became insanely popular in both Britain and the United States (Robbins).
When studying the British Invasion, it is important to analyze the musical differences between
Liverpool and London, as well as look at why this music became so popular in the United States.
Due to Britain s obsession with rock and roll, skiffle became popular once again. Skiffle is a type of
music originating from jug bands and requires minimal instruments. Many skiffle bands used a guitar,
banjo, and rudimentary instruments such as a kazoo (Williams). The ever popular Beatles got their
start as a skiffle band titled The Quarrymen in the town of Liverpool, England. The Quarrymen was

Unethical Advertising
Advertising to children should not be considered unethical or be deemed related to childhood obesity
as there are many factors that play into obesity that are being denied or overlooked if the blame is put
on advertising. Often, advertising is merely used as the scapegoat. Further, the primary intent of
advertising food is to increase brand awareness; not to increase consumption. As defined by the
Merriam Webster Dictionary, advertising is the action of calling something to the attention of the
public, its purpose is not to force individuals to perform an action, rather just make their
product/service more known ( Advertising ). According to Kant s Duty Based Ethics, since the intent
of advertising is not to increase obesity in the consumers , it cannot be deemed unethical. Overall,
research shows that most children under the age of 6 cannot distinguish between programming and
advertising; therefore, this further attests to advertising not being harmful to kids and their health. In
general, excess weight gain in young people is similar to those in adults, including factors such as a
person s behavior and genetics. Therefore, there should not be a focus on advertising to kids alone; if
there needs to be more regulations with advertising in terms of advertising to kids, then regulations
should be made in advertising to adults as well.
Obesity is considered a disease that is derived from having too much body fat. The extra weight can
be from bone, muscle, fat, and/or body water (Obesity: Medline). In any case, the disease is present
when the weight of the person is greater than what s considered healthy for his or her height. Although
advertising food to kids may contribute to the rate of obesity in America, it is proven that it is not the
only factor and certainly is not the most prominent. There are a number of other factors that can
contribute to obesity in an individual.
Obesity is a condition that some individuals may not have any control over as it may be caused by
their genetic makeup. A countless number of studies have established that the different forms of
obesity tend to be generated within a family. According to the Center of Research at the University of
Laval, the risk of obesity is 2 to 8 times

Microcapsules Essay
Layer by Layer Approach for Making Microcapsules
Muhammad Faiz Omar (201308264)
4th December 2014
Abstract
The fabrication of hollow multilayer microcapsules in the beginning is initiated by layer by layer
(LbL) self assembly technique of oppositely charged polyelectrolyte on colloidal template followed by
core decomposition. The main concept of microencapsulation is to protect the contents of fabricated
microcapsules from the harmful environment in which it is surrounded. In this literature review, I shall
outline the technique of microcapsules encapsulation employing LbL approach, lists of
polyelectrolytes and templates and application of microcapsules.
Introduction
Over the past decades, nanometre sized or known as microcapsules have been benefited the approach

Macbeth In Animal Farm And George Orwell s Animal Farm
How can tyranny be prevented? The founding fathers, according to Federalist Paper 51, specifically
designed a system in which tyranny would be prevented. They believe in a government where
ambition would check ambition. If one s ambitions are not checked, however, it gives a lot of power to
one person which can lead to tyranny. Napoleon, in George Orwell s Animal Farm, is an abide
example of an ambitious leader who abuses his power. When Old Major dies, Snowball and Napoleon
both wanted to take his place as leader. Napoleon, in order to secure his seat as ruler, has his opponent
Snowball exiled. A tyrant will stop at nothing to promote his ambitions, even if that means
compromising his ethics. In Shakespeare s Macbeth, it is evident that Macbeth s ambition of being
king overrides his morality. However, some scholars are under the impression that Macbeth has no
moral compass. Macbeth is amoral and, therefore, there is nothing to override. Howard Felperin, a Ph.
D. from Harvard University and renowned author, argues, in his article A Painted Devil: Macbeth
from William Shakespeare: The Tragedies, that Macbeth was not a good person, rather he was a very
corrupt person. Someone who is not basically good cannot have any sense of morality, and is only
motivated by his pride and ambition (158). Throughout history, there has been authoritative figures
who have had no sense of morality. Adolf Hitler, for one, is someone who does not have a moral
compass. He is responsible for

Hamburger Hill Essay
Many people can attest to the fact that the war in Vietnam was very unpopular and unsupported. One
could say that it was the most unsupported war in this country s history. One of the many battles that
occurred during the war was the Battle of Hamburger Hill. Although it was a very short battle, some
would say that this battle was very unnecessary and a waste of manpower. Hamburger Hill, also
known as hill 937, was a ten day battle fought in the A Shau Valley from May 10 20 1969. Hamburger
Hill was given its name by the soldiers who fought in that battle because of how gruesome and bloody
it was, it reminded them of a meat grinder. Also, this battle closely resembeled a battle during the

Lt. Colonel Honeycutt, commander of 3/187, ordered two of his companies to the north and northwest
ridges of the hill. Bravo company started pushing up the hill while meeting large amounts of North
Vietnamese soldiers. Because of the resistance, they called in close air support to aid in moving up the
hill. Miscommunication caused the air support to confuse the landing zone for an NVA camp resulting
in them opening fire and killing two and injuring thirty five of their own. Unfortunately, this was the
first but not the last friendly fire incident during this battle. The thick vegetation caused for so much
miscommunication and inability to properly identify targets. Honeycutt continued to launch assaults
against the NVA. Theses assaults would face heavy resistance with many casualties. Lt. Colonel
Conmey, commander of the 1st Battalion 506th Infantry regiment shifted his assaults to the southern
base of the hill. American pushes were caused to fall short due to the thick vegetation, this also
effected the capabilities of the American s heavy weapons. Those hindrances gave huge advantages to
the NVA. Because of all the vegetation, they called in approximately 270 Air Strikes in a ten day
period. These strikes dropped 890 tons of explosives and 115 tons of napalm. These air strikes and
napalm eliminated many of the NVA bunkers and trenching system (Hickman,

As pointed out by Sodersten and Reed(1994), this is a theory of long term general equilibrium in
which two factors of production labour and capital are both mobile between sectors. Hereafter, further
theory came which described the new growth theory . It originated from the mechanism through
which exports affect economic growth. For instance, Grossman and Helpman (1990) proposed a two
country growth model with endogenous technological progress. In their model, exports help to
promote technology and knowledge diffusion and thus in recent period, the extensive literature
concerning the relationship between trade and growth is also the consequence of the many changes
that have taken place in the fields of development economics and international trade policy. An
example of these changes is the tremendous modification from inward oriented policies to export
promotion strategy. By the early 1980s export led orientation and export promotion had already
secured a wide consensus among researchers and policy makers, to such an extent that they had
become conventional wisdom among most economists in the developing world (Tyler, 1981; Balassa,
1985). This strategy is still advocated by some international organizations, the international bank
community and multilateral lenders such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund
(IMF), and among the mainstream policy makers.

Roe V. Wade And Its Impact On American Society

Roe v. Wade and Its Impact on American Society Few Supreme Court decisions have stirred up as
much controversy, vitriolic debate, and even violence as the one delivered in Roe v. Wade in 1973.
Four decades later, it remains a touchstone for the culture wars in the United States and a pivot upon
which much of American politics turns. In fact, the authors of Roe v. Wade: The Abortion Rights
Controversy in American History state that even today, the case (and its companion cases) remains the
most divisive and controversial judicial decision of the twentieth century (3). Although it is a
landmark case in itself, its continuing influence on American law and politics proves that its legacy
lives on far beyond its formal resolution in a court of law. Essentially, the most important points are
that the cause of the case s complexity and drama is the legal relationship between men and women
that the ruling mirrored and compounded, the way the medical profession was impacted, and the
political significance that the issue still holds presently. One cannot understand what Roe v. Wade
meant to women or to men without understanding how abortion became illegal, and that story begins
in the nineteenth century. In 1821, Connecticut became the first state to explicitly criminalize abortion.
The primary purpose of this law was to spell out the conditions under which the state could prosecute
an abortionist for an abortion. The

The Behavioral Theory Of Depression
Depression is a mood disorder which is categorised by low mood and a wide range of other
symptoms, which will inevitably differ depending on the individual. This mental health illness can
either progress at a fast rate or steadily. Many scientific and medicinal professionals view depression
as a defence mechanism that the body implements in order to escape from stress. Seligman (1973)
discussed depression in terms of it being like a common cold of psychiatry, due to how frequently it is
diagnosed. The behaviourist approach accentuates the significance of the environment in regards to
determining an individual s behaviour. To behaviourist theorists, our behaviour does not relate with
our internal unconscious struggles or suppressions. However, psychologists in this field use ideologies
of the learning theory to explain human behaviour. According to the behavioural theory, dysfunctional
behaviour such as depression is learned and so because of this, psychologists propose that it can also
be unlearned. This perspective focuses on behaviour which is observable and the circumstances in
which a particular individual has learnt that behaviour. As a result, depression is therefore seen by
behaviourist theorists as a result of an individual s contact with their environment.
Classical conditioning would suggest that depression is cultured through the connotation of certain
stimuli s with undesirable emotional states. Operant conditioning believes that depression is instigated

The Debate Over Race And Intelligence
The debate over race and intelligence had been fueled in 1994 when Charles A. Murray and Richard
Hernstein published a book called, The Bell Curve. The Bell Curve was an analysis on the curve
between race and intelligence. Due to the book being published, scientists began working on multiple
tests to try to understand the correlation that was indicated in this book. This is such an emotional
topic to argue about because society could stereotype themselves based on a definitive answer about
race and intelligence. A white child could earn a 90 on a test, above the score that of a black child has
earned, but then an Asian child could outdo both of them. That is where the correlation can present
itself. Due to that example, race and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His findings have concluded that environmental factors explains 58 percent of IQ variations around
the world. If IQ tests were able to compare different backgrounds of different races, it would be more
apparent. An American clinical psychologist Terrie Moffitt, said that negative environments (low
social status or ineffective parenting) could affect a child s intelligence even more (Parker/Morton 1).
There is a way to make a child smarter and that starts from an upbringing environment that is positive
(Hurley). While bringing in the genetics of an individual based on their skin color, there are also
different environmental factors that can contribute to the correlation between race and intelligence.
The American Psychological Association studies have shown that environmental factors can
contribute to an individual s intelligence factor. Different revolution factors, natural selection factors,
and environmental differences have an impact (Saletan 4). For example, a black kid living in a run
down neighborhood may do worse than a white kid living in a rich neighborhood. Due to this, most
children feed off of their peers, either at school or even at home. People in disadvantaged groups
generally score lower on IQ tests than those who are not disadvantaged (Jackson 1). Different races

Finally, the auditors will benefit from additional revenue which can be used to subsidise the audit firm
s investments in knowledge and systems, and streamline the audit.
The main disadvantages of audit firms providing services to their audit clients relate to potential
adverse effects on the auditor s independence. The auditor could be unwilling to provide services
which would reduce their audit fees or cause the client to seek another auditor. The auditor could be
unwilling to criticise something to the client which was provided by their consulting division. The
auditor could be blind to potential adverse impacts on the client s accounting systems from products
and services provided by their consulting division. Even if the consulting provided unquestionable
benefits to the client, the relationship between the audit firm and the client could become too cosy ,
and discourage the client from considering other auditors. Finally, the auditor could be reluctant to
qualify the audit report for fear of losing lucrative fees from consulting services. If this occurs, the
audit is less valuable because the auditor is less independent.
4. An assurance engagement involves evaluation or measurement of subject matter against criteria.

nothing could stand in my way. That absolute freedom of will is what attracts me, what drives me to

But I would not be free from conscience. Would conscience allow me to execute these selfish
pleasures? These unthinkable deeds? I take back what I said, for conscience of mind is the highest
power. It masters all, and all minds suffer great pain at the caprice of this thing. And if I were to have
all these powers, yet have nothing at the same time no purpose, no love, what good would these
powers do me?

as to demonstrate to Israeli policy makers that the annexation of Judea and Samaria would destroy the

Compatibility of Free Will in The Tenseless Theory of Time...
, The debate between free will and fatalism has existed since the conceptualization of time. On one
hand, in everyday life, time flows in a uniform fashion. People experience time in which there is a
past, present, and a future. Yet, physicists and philosophers see time as something completely
different. In fact, they see time as an illusion. Called the tenseless theory of time, time does not flow
but this theory views time as a fourth dimension where all past, present, and future events are equal
(Callender Edney, 2004). Essentially, this theory proposes that there is no passage of time and no
becoming of future events. As a result, one can view this theory as a block universe in which every

Thus, if fatalism is about the penultimate outcome, then free will is the process about decision making
that leads up to the final outcome. Not only does free will exist, it can also be viewed as compatible
with the tenseless theory of time as well. Firstly, fatalism alludes to the idea that what happened was
always going to happen. Fatalism is the view in which it implies there are no alternate possibilities.
The tenseless theory of time is committed to this belief. Yet, this assumption is still ambiguous. The
brain and especially the mind is complex. Experiments done in the field of neuroscience have tried to
resolve this particular question. Can it be shown that what will happen has already been pre
determined in the mind? One experiment, conducted by Benjamin Libet (1983), tried to answer this
question. In the experiment, he would ask each participant to sit at a desk in front of a timer. He would
put electrodes onto the scalp and ask the participant to carry out a motor activity, such as a flick of the
wrist. He would also ask the participant to note the position of the timer when the participant felt that
they were urged to do the activity. Libet found there was a 200 millisecond delay, on average, between

Britain went clear back to the 1860 s. As Britain kept getting out bested by Germany an American
trust builder named Junius Pierpont Morgan saw a chance to make money or a monopoly. Morgan
realized the rivalry and had already monopolized U.S railroads, and wanted to to take control over the
North Atlantic Shipping Lines. Morgan s first move in 1898 was when he bought the more ran down
Inman Line. The owner of the White Star Line, Thomas Ismay, foresaw a big rate war on the North
Atlantic and resisted Morgan until his death in 1899. After Ismay s death Morgan jumped at the
opportunity to get more control by purchasing a controlling interest from the German lines, Hamburg
Amerika and Norddeutscher Lloyd. Just a year later Morgan gained control of the Leyland Line, the
Dominion Line, and the Red Star Line. His next targets were the White Star Line, and the Cunard. For
competition Morgan cut fares until his lines were a third class passage to America for as little as two
euros, ($2.38). J. Bruce Ismay, the son of Thomas Ismay, resisted Morgan like his father.

The Autonomic Nervous System
Sleep is necessary for basic health and survival. It plays a large role in an individual s mental,
emotional, and physiological welfare and functioning. After years of sleep research focusing on sleep
wake cycles, evidence points to the conclusion that sleep deprivation has detrimental consequences,
not only on rodents, but humans as well (Cheng et al., 2015). In the past century, the average amount
of time that adults sleep has decreased significantly. Consequently, sleep problems have become an
epidemic, taking their toll on the health of adult populations in numerous ways. The National Sleep
Foundation (NSF) conducted a Gallup Poll in March 2002 in which American lifestyles, sleep habits,
and sleep problems were surveyed. The results ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Monitoring HRV can provide information about the function of the autonomic nervous system. HRV
is a non invasive index of the neural control of the heart (Acharya, Sing, Ping Chua, 2004). Although
it is difficult to establish a particular standard normal heart rate for a given individual, most
individuals have a typical range from 60 to 100 beats per minute (Fox et al., 2007). However, the
interval between each heartbeat constantly varies. High frequency variability in RR reflects
parasympathetic activation, while a slower variability in RR reflects a combination of both
parasympathetic and sympathetic modulation along with non autonomic factors. When interpreting
HRV data, there are several components in the power spectrum that can have fluctuating ranges. A
power spectrum is a plot of the portion of a signal s power or energy per unit time, falling within given
frequency bands. The three major bands of the power spectrum in HRV are high frequency (HF), low
frequency (LF), and very low frequency (VLF). A HF peak typically ranges between 0.15 Hz to 0.4
Hz, while a LF peak ranges from 0.06 to 0.15 Hz. A VLF peak is below .05 Hz (Kamath Fallen, 1993).
The LF is associated with blood pressure control and reflects sympathetic activity. The HF is
correlated with respiratory sinus arrhythmia and reflects parasympathetic activity

Abortion Vs Late Term Abortion
In today s society, there are many topics that cause a lot of uproar and controversy. Certain topics like
politics, homosexuality, and climate change are just a few topics that are debated on a daily bases. One
other topic that has been debated on for centuries is abortion. Abortion is the ending of pregnancy
before birth; this results in the death of a fetus or an embryo. Abortion happens in different countries
around the world, but it is commonly known in the United States. The United States is one of only
seven countries in the world where abortion is legal in some states. Many people know about abortion
and what it is, but what some people do not know is that there are several different types of it. Just a
few types of abortion are early abortion, late term abortion, and partial birth abortion. There is early
abortion, which is when the pregnancy is terminated before the fetus is available, and then there is late
term abortion, which is when an abortion is performed after the second trimester. The most crucial
type of abortion, partial birth abortion, is a form of late term abortion that ends a pregnancy in which
the fetus is removed intact and results in death. Although some people believe abortion is not the best
decision to make and that it should be illegal, early abortion is a little better than late term abortion.
All in all, late term abortion should be banned because it is similar to killing a fully developed child.
As previously stated, late term abortion is

Moral Decision Making In The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe
The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe Essay
We all make choices; sometimes those choices have negative consequences.
By Ehi Oyugbo
Humans are capable of making their own decisions which can often have positive or negative
consequences on both themselves and others. Every day we face decisions about what to eat, what to
wear and how to use our time.
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S Lewis tells a story of forgiveness, bravery, self sacrifice
and betrayal while introducing Christian values and lessons on moral conduct. Although Lewis claims
that links to the Christian faith are purely coincidental, the story contains elements of Christian
allegory and many parallels between the scriptures and the life of the Pevensie children. This essay
will analyse both Aslan and Edmund Pevensie s choices throughout the movie and their influencing
factors in order to gain insight into moral decision making.
Set in the1940 s during World War II, The Lion, the Witch and the follows the four English siblings:
Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy Pevensie who are evacuated to the country house of an old Professor
for their safety during the London air raids. There, they find an old cupboard which has the ability to
transport them between the real world and Narnia.
Edmund is the 3rd oldest of the Pevensie children, at the age of 10. Due to his experiences at school
he became a bully, being the conceited, spiteful traitor of the family. One of the many parallels present
in the movie is

The Between China And China
The theme of duality appears again in the Court of Final Appeal in Central. Opened in 1912 as the site
of the Supreme Court, the two story granite neoclassical styled building is supported by ionic columns
and features a statue of Themis, the Greek Goddess of Justice, who is blindfolded and holds a scale.
According to Simon Ng, an assistant professor at the University of Hong Kong, the blindfolded
Themis standing right above the royal coat of arms is a visual reiteration of the centuries old ideal of
rule of law that even the sovereign must be subject to the law and reason. Because of newly instituted
western education, Hong Kong became susceptible to the ideas of fairness and impartiality in the
justice system, which along with its capitalist economy, further differentiated itself from China. This
concept of one country, two systems is an important element of Hong Kong governance, and by
extension, its people. This represents a time when Hong Kong is slowly pulling its influence away
from China.
Due to its insulation from China that ran a communist government, Hong Kong was able to flourish as
an international financial center under a free market economy. Thus, it was natural for multinational
companies to build their headquarters in Central, Hong Kong s main business district. However, the
lack of space in Central compelled companies to build towering skyscrapers in the late 20th century.
The result was a diverse skyline that to this day, showcases some of the best in

Essay About My First Motorcycle
My name is Justin Stapp and I would like to tell you about all of the challenges I faced when buying
my first motorcycle. I have wanted to buy a motorcycle since I received my learners permit to drive a
car. I went through many steps and it took a pretty long time to get this goal accomplished. Lots of
hard work and time was put into my venture.
The first step that I took in my challenge was to research and find out what kind of bike that I wanted
to ride. I didn t want a bike that was too small and that I would want to upgrade quickly and have to
spend even more money, so I found a medium sized bike to start out on. I decided to look for a 600cc
bike, thinking that this would suit my needs until I am ready to upgrade to a bigger size motor. I am
not a small person in size but I am new to riding and need to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I worked nights and weekends for minimum wage, which took a long time to save up money. I couldn
t buy a bike with the first few paychecks that I received because I had to buy car insurance for the car
my parents bought me. After I paid all of those bills, I was able to start saving for the bike. After the
summer ended, I quit working at Dairy Queen and began my Junior year in High School in my
hometown. Over the course of that school year, I had worked for a construction company that made
staircases for new homes. I saved part of each paycheck and was able to build my motorcycle fund up
to $2000.00. I planned on finding a bike for around $1500.00.
After searching CraigsList day and night for many months, I found the bike I was looking for. I spoke
with the seller many times and we talked about his experience with this particular motorcycle. It had
been his first bike and he had worked on it until it was built how he wanted it. He worked on it and
painted it himself. He painted it a mystic metallic blue and purple. We settled on a day and time to
meet up to check it

The Masters Of Social Work Program
Going into the Masters of Social Work program, I thought I had an idea of what I was going to do and
how to do it. Now that I am almost finished with my Spring semester, I was completely wrong.
Reflecting back from when I first started this program, I have changed a lot in many aspects of myself.
My professional self is has changed the most. Working with various different clients, backgrounds,
situations, mental and physical health issues, socioeconomic status, sexual orientations, ages, and
races have gave me great experiences that will carry on in my social work skill set. Doing my
internship, and now current job, in child protective services and my current internship at Davis Child
Shelter, were some of the best experiences a person can ask for wanting to be a professional social
worker. During my time in the master s program, there was been a couple of experiences in particular
that has carried along with me. While in child protective services, witnessing New Port, an area in
Danville, WV that is very poverty stickered, and seeing how people lived in extreme poverty,
substance abuse, high crime rates, and overall general violence that would occur there. Infrastructure
was horrible, the trailer homes the people living in were old, run down, and dirty, and the roads, if that
is what one would call that, were broken, asphalt split in half, potholes large as cars, and many parts of
the area were dirty roads. If one did not know the area, they would have not even

He constructed 272 buildings on his property for local residents. Ford also helped save and reconstruct
the historical Fort McAllister to preserve it for later generations. Henry Ford is familiarly recognized
for creating the Ford automobiles. He formed the Edison Botanic Society along with Thomas Edison
and Harvey Firestone to conduct lab experiments to transform agricultural products into materials that
can be productively used in the auto industry. He renovated former rice fields into fields for iceberg
lettuce and grew 365 varieties of soybean technically, a soybean variety for everyday of the year! He
tested the crops properties in hopes that rubber can be extracted from them. Henry Ford truly turned
the desperate neighborhood into a flourishing town. The city of Ways Station was later renamed to
Richmond Hill after the Fords estate.
Henry Ford was such a significant figure of Richmond Hill that he has been honored with a full size
natural color statue that is now located in the lobby of the Richmond Hill City Hall. The statue of
Henry Ford was unveiled by Mayor Richard R. Davis and Professor John Jensen in 1999. Today,
many historical structures in Richmond Hill are somehow tied in with Henry Ford. Examples of these
points of interests are the Ford Courthouse, Ford Community House, Ford Plantation, and the Ford
Kindergarten Building, which is the location for the Richmond Hill Historical Museum. Richmond

In reality, the company did not receive a single payment from Pescott, as they have made the
transaction in the books by cancelling a part of the company s debt to Pescott. Next are the Options
proceedings. This proceeding relates more to the transactions made by the directors for their own
benefits as well for the ones associated to them. The specific parties in this proceedings are;
Environinvest Ltd, James Patrick Downey the liquidator of the company, and S.T.Y. (Afforestation)
Pty Ltd as the plaintiffs. Roger Neil Pescott, Caroline Pescott, Euan Pescott, Blackburne Pty Ltd,
Brabourne Pty Ltd, Mt Ross Pastoral Pty Ltd, Eurambeen Pty Ltd, Maridale (Victoria) Pty Ltd, Carnac

claims in this proceeding is the BEP Blue Gum Project which was formerly owned by Euan Pescott,
brother to Roger Pescott. In 1999, Euan Pescott and BEP Management Pty Ltd entered into an
agreement that requires BEP to establish and manage a eucalyptus plantation on the land provided by

Use Of Hypnosis And Medical Practice
The Use of Hypnosis in Medical Practice
A literature review
Ashley Gowty 10207287
For centuries hypnosis was far from being part of the scientific world. But in the last couple of
decades its reputation has moved from that of cult practise to a highly recognised psychological
practice. Recently there has been an emerging trend using hypnosis in a physiological manner; this
review will look at how hypnosis is currently being used in the medical field. Looking at what exactly
hypnosis is and its therapeutic uses, it s use as a treatment for pain relief and reflecting on how
hypnotizable the general population is.
The literature reviewed is generally definitive in the nature of hypnosis. Bryant and Mabbutt (2006, p.
12) describe it as ... a state of mind connected to deep relaxation, narrowed focus, and increased
suggestibility. They also suggest that Hypnosis is an intermediate state between sleep and
wakefulness. Bryant and Mabbutt s description is echoed by Cyna, McAuliffe, Andrew who apply the
use of hypnosis to the clinical setting (hypnotherapy) and suggest that it is used to to achieve specific
therapeutic goals such as the alleviation of pain or anxiety. (Cyna, McAuliffe, Andrew, 2004). Staff at
The Mayo Clinic extend upon the defination of hypnosis by stating that Hypnosis is intended to help
you gain more control over undesired behaviours or emotions or to help you cope better with a wide
range of medical conditions. (Staff, 2009). They continue by

William Shakespeare s Hamlet And Macbeth
The use of supernatural has always been a popular yet successful choice of film makers and writers. In
Shakespeare s Hamlet and Macbeth, the ghost imitates the feelings of the protagonists for the audience
as well. Shakespeare s tragedies include supernatural in order to catch interest of a reader which
consists heroes with desires of the supernatural ending up in a tragedy. Through their use of ghost and
the supernatural, we can see the similarities and differences of the plays that will help effectively for a
wider understanding of the plays and its themes. Shakespeare starts Macbeth with a supernatural scene
with 3 witches as the evil. Hamlet on the other hand, starts with a similar style of use by including
ghost of Hamlet s father in its story. However, in both plays, differentiating between good and evil of
the supernatural was not sure of the protagonists. Moreover, the supernatural lead the heroes into
pitfall of characters in both. The use of leading the protagonists to a bad outcome is both present in
these plays. In Macbeth, he won t feel the urge to murder the king if the three witches didn t make him
to such evil deeds, causing him to not change his ways such as killing everyone in his path. Hamlet on
the other hand leads the same structure, where seeing the ghost of his father leads to a tragic fight in
the end, losing his live. If only he hadn t known that the throne was obtained through murder, things
would have been in a different way, losing the

  • 2. Transjustic And Cultural Reflection Of A Personal Experience There are a few memorable experiences that assisted me in learning to work with diverse clients and caregivers with linguistic and cultural differences from my own. The first one being a client age 82 with a diagnosis of moderate severe global aphasia and severe verbal and oral apraxia. After a transient ischemic attack (TIA) evolved into a left middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCA), her speech output largely involved stereotypical ma utterances. More often than not, we would start by some small talk that involved some yes or no questions for her to answer and it was amazing what she can convey with just her varying intonations of ma s and animated facial expressions. I found it challenging to understand what she wanted to share in the beginning since I did not phrase my questions or comments in a way that warranted clear answers nor did I use her low tech AAC book to supplement the conversations but after learning to shape my own words and getting acquainted to her AAC book, her responses became clearer to me. Race, religion, class, gender, and sexual orientation are all apart of social injustice, outside characteristics are the first thing one is judged upon. Today in society people get judged and dehumanized everyday, because they are looked at first by their outside characteristics. In the realistic fiction books If You Come Softly by Jacqueline Woodson, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne, and Miracle s boys also by Jacqueline Woodson the authors demonstrate that social injustice can occur when individuals are viewed by only their outward characteristics and beliefs. The accusation of the slush fund caused doubt about Nixon s position on the Republican ticket. In response, Nixon broadcasted a thirty minute speech that included Nixon defending his innocence, attacking those who supported the accusations, and urged the American people to believe in his innocence so he could remain on the Republican ballot. Adams, as the writer of the introduction of the Declaration as well as one of the editors of the draft, spelled out the principle of independence. While because of his belief that the cause of independence was more important than some phenomena at that time, he did not protest when Congress cut the denouncement of slavery from the Declaration, although he was a lifelong opponent of it. As clearly explained by the authors, Competitive Authoritarianism is a hybrid regime combining elements of Liberal Democracy and Authoritarian rule, and, for this reason, many political philosophers like Fukuyama look upon it as a transitional diminished democracy (Levitsky). However, political philosophers like Gat and Levitsky, supported by other scholars including Roger Owen, argue that Competitive Authoritarian regimes are promptly consolidating their political power in those country areas where Liberal Democracy is weakening like in Ukraine and Turkey, or it failed in some African countries and the Middle East. Consequently, the stopping power or LET depends on its energy.5 The energy loss increases towards the end of the range, reaches a maximum, which is called the Bragg peak, and abruptly drop to zero before the protons stop. • 17. Impact On The British Invasion The British Invasion took place during the mid 1960 s. British musicians began to look toward their American counterparts for inspiration, copying their styles and advertising to fans in the United States. By this point, British youth had been interested in American rock and roll since the 1950 s, captivated by its pronounced beats and suggestive lyrics (Robbins). However, Britain did not have the same musical background as the United States. In the States, rock and roll emerged from a coalescence of Country and Western, Rhythm and Blues, and Pop music (Stuessy). Because of this, rock from the United States had deep roots, while rock from Britain before the mid 1960 s lacked depth and was simply an imitation. Eventually, rock began to take off in Britain from two main locations: Liverpool and London. This music became insanely popular in both Britain and the United States (Robbins). When studying the British Invasion, it is important to analyze the musical differences between Liverpool and London, as well as look at why this music became so popular in the United States. Due to Britain s obsession with rock and roll, skiffle became popular once again. Skiffle is a type of music originating from jug bands and requires minimal instruments. • 18. Unethical Advertising Advertising to children should not be considered unethical or be deemed related to childhood obesity as there are many factors that play into obesity that are being denied or overlooked if the blame is put on advertising. Often, advertising is merely used as the scapegoat. Further, the primary intent of advertising food is to increase brand awareness; not to increase consumption. As defined by the Merriam Webster Dictionary, advertising is the action of calling something to the attention of the public, its purpose is not to force individuals to perform an action, rather just make their product/service more known ( Advertising ). According to Kant s Duty Based Ethics, since the intent of advertising is not to increase obesity in the consumers , it cannot be deemed unethical. Overall, research shows that most children under the age of 6 cannot distinguish between programming and advertising; therefore, this further attests to advertising not being harmful to kids and their health. In general, excess weight gain in young people is similar to those in adults, including factors such as a person s behavior and genetics. Therefore, there should not be a focus on advertising to kids alone; if there needs to be more regulations with advertising in terms of advertising to kids, then regulations should be made in advertising to adults as well. Obesity is considered a disease that is derived from having too much body fat. The extra weight can be from bone, muscle, fat, and/or body water (Obesity: Medline). In any case, the disease is present when the weight of the person is greater than what s considered healthy for his or her height. Although advertising food to kids may contribute to the rate of obesity in America, it is proven that it is not the only factor and certainly is not the most prominent. There are a number of other factors that can contribute to obesity in an individual. Obesity is a condition that some individuals may not have any control over as it may be caused by their genetic makeup. The main concept of microencapsulation is to protect the contents of fabricated microcapsules from the harmful environment in which it is surrounded. In this literature review, I shall outline the technique of microcapsules encapsulation employing LbL approach, lists of polyelectrolytes and templates and application of microcapsules. Introduction Over the past decades, nanometre sized or known as microcapsules have been benefited the approach of Layer by Layer(LbL) technique due to the ability of tailoring their properties(e.g., size , shape, colloidal stability, surface functionality, composition) that are biocompatible and biodegradable.1 3,10They are broadly used in many applications including food technologies, cosmetics, textiles industry and pharmaceuticals. The LBL assembly of multilayers are fundamentally built up by the alternating deposition of oppositely charged polyelectrolytes onto a sacrificial template such that the charge oscillates between positive and negative with each layer.1,4 The establishment of nanocoatings using LbL assembly method distinguishes itself in its intelligibility compared to the more conventional method. • 20. Macbeth In Animal Farm And George Orwell s Animal Farm How can tyranny be prevented? The founding fathers, according to Federalist Paper 51, specifically designed a system in which tyranny would be prevented. They believe in a government where ambition would check ambition. If one s ambitions are not checked, however, it gives a lot of power to one person which can lead to tyranny. Napoleon, in George Orwell s Animal Farm, is an abide example of an ambitious leader who abuses his power. When Old Major dies, Snowball and Napoleon both wanted to take his place as leader. Napoleon, in order to secure his seat as ruler, has his opponent Snowball exiled. A tyrant will stop at nothing to promote his ambitions, even if that means compromising his ethics. In Shakespeare s Macbeth, it is evident that Macbeth s ambition of being king overrides his morality. However, some scholars are under the impression that Macbeth has no moral compass. Macbeth is amoral and, therefore, there is nothing to override. Howard Felperin, a Ph. D. from Harvard University and renowned author, argues, in his article A Painted Devil: Macbeth from William Shakespeare: The Tragedies, that Macbeth was not a good person, rather he was a very corrupt person. Someone who is not basically good cannot have any sense of morality, and is only motivated by his pride and ambition (158). Colonel Conmey, commander of the 1st Battalion 506th Infantry regiment shifted his assaults to the southern base of the hill. American pushes were caused to fall short due to the thick vegetation, this also effected the capabilities of the American s heavy weapons. Those hindrances gave huge advantages to the NVA. Because of all the vegetation, they called in approximately 270 Air Strikes in a ten day period. These strikes dropped 890 tons of explosives and 115 tons of napalm. Hereafter, further theory came which described the new growth theory . It originated from the mechanism through which exports affect economic growth. For instance, Grossman and Helpman (1990) proposed a two country growth model with endogenous technological progress. In their model, exports help to promote technology and knowledge diffusion and thus in recent period, the extensive literature concerning the relationship between trade and growth is also the consequence of the many changes that have taken place in the fields of development economics and international trade policy. An example of these changes is the tremendous modification from inward oriented policies to export promotion strategy. By the early 1980s export led orientation and export promotion had already secured a wide consensus among researchers and policy makers, to such an extent that they had become conventional wisdom among most economists in the developing world (Tyler, 1981; Balassa, 1985). Wade and Its Impact on American Society Few Supreme Court decisions have stirred up as much controversy, vitriolic debate, and even violence as the one delivered in Roe v. Wade in 1973. Four decades later, it remains a touchstone for the culture wars in the United States and a pivot upon which much of American politics turns. In fact, the authors of Roe v. Although it is a landmark case in itself, its continuing influence on American law and politics proves that its legacy lives on far beyond its formal resolution in a court of law. Essentially, the most important points are that the cause of the case s complexity and drama is the legal relationship between men and women that the ruling mirrored and compounded, the way the medical profession was impacted, and the political significance that the issue still holds presently. One cannot understand what Roe v. Wade meant to women or to men without understanding how abortion became illegal, and that story begins in the nineteenth century. In 1821, Connecticut became the first state to explicitly criminalize abortion. The primary purpose of this law was to spell out the conditions under which the state could prosecute an abortionist for an abortion. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. The Behavioral Theory Of Depression Depression is a mood disorder which is categorised by low mood and a wide range of other symptoms, which will inevitably differ depending on the individual. This mental health illness can either progress at a fast rate or steadily. Many scientific and medicinal professionals view depression as a defence mechanism that the body implements in order to escape from stress. Seligman (1973) discussed depression in terms of it being like a common cold of psychiatry, due to how frequently it is diagnosed. The behaviourist approach accentuates the significance of the environment in regards to determining an individual s behaviour. To behaviourist theorists, our behaviour does not relate with our internal unconscious struggles or suppressions. However, psychologists in this field use ideologies of the learning theory to explain human behaviour. According to the behavioural theory, dysfunctional behaviour such as depression is learned and so because of this, psychologists propose that it can also be unlearned. This perspective focuses on behaviour which is observable and the circumstances in which a particular individual has learnt that behaviour. As a result, depression is therefore seen by behaviourist theorists as a result of an individual s contact with their environment. Classical conditioning would suggest that depression is cultured through the connotation of certain stimuli s with undesirable emotional states. The Bell Curve was an analysis on the curve between race and intelligence. This is such an emotional topic to argue about because society could stereotype themselves based on a definitive answer about race and intelligence. There is a way to make a child smarter and that starts from an upbringing environment that is positive (Hurley). The American Psychological Association studies have shown that environmental factors can contribute to an individual s intelligence factor. On one hand, in everyday life, time flows in a uniform fashion. People experience time in which there is a past, present, and a future. Yet, physicists and philosophers see time as something completely different. In fact, they see time as an illusion. Called the tenseless theory of time, time does not flow but this theory views time as a fourth dimension where all past, present, and future events are equal (Callender Edney, 2004). Fatalism is the view in which it implies there are no alternate possibilities. The tenseless theory of time is committed to this belief. Yet, this assumption is still ambiguous. Certain topics like politics, homosexuality, and climate change are just a few topics that are debated on a daily bases. One other topic that has been debated on for centuries is abortion. Abortion is the ending of pregnancy before birth; this results in the death of a fetus or an embryo. Abortion happens in different countries around the world, but it is commonly known in the United States. The United States is one of only seven countries in the world where abortion is legal in some states. Many people know about abortion and what it is, but what some people do not know is that there are several different types of it. Just a few types of abortion are early abortion, late term abortion, and partial birth abortion. There is early abortion, which is when the pregnancy is terminated before the fetus is available, and then there is late term abortion, which is when an abortion is performed after the second trimester. The most crucial type of abortion, partial birth abortion, is a form of late term abortion that ends a pregnancy in which the fetus is removed intact and results in death. Although some people believe abortion is not the best decision to make and that it should be illegal, early abortion is a little better than late term abortion. All in all, late term abortion should be banned because it is similar to killing a fully developed child. As previously stated, late term abortion is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Moral Decision Making In The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe Essay We all make choices; sometimes those choices have negative consequences. By Ehi Oyugbo Humans are capable of making their own decisions which can often have positive or negative consequences on both themselves and others. Every day we face decisions about what to eat, what to wear and how to use our time. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S Lewis tells a story of forgiveness, bravery, self sacrifice and betrayal while introducing Christian values and lessons on moral conduct. Although Lewis claims that links to the Christian faith are purely coincidental, the story contains elements of Christian allegory and many parallels between the scriptures and the life of the Pevensie children. This essay will analyse both Aslan and Edmund Pevensie s choices throughout the movie and their influencing factors in order to gain insight into moral decision making. Set in the1940 s during World War II, The Lion, the Witch and the follows the four English siblings: Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy Pevensie who are evacuated to the country house of an old Professor for their safety during the London air raids. • 44. The Between China And China The theme of duality appears again in the Court of Final Appeal in Central. Opened in 1912 as the site of the Supreme Court, the two story granite neoclassical styled building is supported by ionic columns and features a statue of Themis, the Greek Goddess of Justice, who is blindfolded and holds a scale. According to Simon Ng, an assistant professor at the University of Hong Kong, the blindfolded Themis standing right above the royal coat of arms is a visual reiteration of the centuries old ideal of rule of law that even the sovereign must be subject to the law and reason. Because of newly instituted western education, Hong Kong became susceptible to the ideas of fairness and impartiality in the justice system, which along with its capitalist economy, further differentiated itself from China. This concept of one country, two systems is an important element of Hong Kong governance, and by extension, its people. This represents a time when Hong Kong is slowly pulling its influence away from China. Due to its insulation from China that ran a communist government, Hong Kong was able to flourish as an international financial center under a free market economy. Thus, it was natural for multinational companies to build their headquarters in Central, Hong Kong s main business district. However, the lack of space in Central compelled companies to build towering skyscrapers in the late 20th century. The result was a diverse skyline that to this day, showcases some of the best in ... I planned on finding a bike for around $1500.00. After searching CraigsList day and night for many months, I found the bike I was looking for. • 50. William Shakespeare s Hamlet And Macbeth The use of supernatural has always been a popular yet successful choice of film makers and writers. In Shakespeare s Hamlet and Macbeth, the ghost imitates the feelings of the protagonists for the audience as well. Shakespeare s tragedies include supernatural in order to catch interest of a reader which consists heroes with desires of the supernatural ending up in a tragedy. Through their use of ghost and the supernatural, we can see the similarities and differences of the plays that will help effectively for a wider understanding of the plays and its themes. Shakespeare starts Macbeth with a supernatural scene with 3 witches as the evil. Hamlet on the other hand, starts with a similar style of use by including ghost of Hamlet s father in its story. However, in both plays, differentiating between good and evil of the supernatural was not sure of the protagonists. Moreover, the supernatural lead the heroes into pitfall of characters in both. The use of leading the protagonists to a bad outcome is both present in these plays. In Macbeth, he won t feel the urge to murder the king if the three witches didn t make him to such evil deeds, causing him to not change his ways such as killing everyone in his path. Hamlet on the other hand leads the same structure, where seeing the ghost of his father leads to a tragic fight in the end, losing his live.
