Tom Clancy s The Hunt For Red October Essay
Silent War Machine Since the beginning of man, people have been fighting for what they want. Tom
Clancy shows that through his main character, Marko Ramius, who was doing everything he could to

Marko Ramius, the sub s captain kills their political officer after they open their orders, which
basically have them conducting routine maneuvers, but he kills him and burns their orders and
replaces the orders. He then tells the crew that they are going to test their new engine by positioning
themselves by New York and run missile drills. Ryan is then called by his boss to attend a briefing that
deals with Red October. At this briefing, they discover that Ramius sent a letter to a high ranking
Soviet official, who after reading the letter went to meet with the Soviet Premier and it was shortly
after that meeting that the Soviet navy was deployed to find Red October and sink it. Everyone
assumes that Ramius has turned rogue but Ryan who once did research on Ramius assumes that he
might be trying to defect. While everyone dismisses him, the National Security Adviser tells Ryan to
go out there and find out for sure if he is right because once Ramius is in position to fire his missiles
they have take him out. Ryan reluctantly goes and not used to fieldwork, has a hard time coping with
the sea. At the same time someone in the Red October crew knows that Ramius has deviated from his
assignment and is doing what he can to stop him. Many people have said great things about Clancy s

Beta Rebellion Essay
4chan.org is a community filled with every type of individual one could imagine, all hidden behind
computer screens under anonymity. A person can say or do almost anything in one post, and then be a
completely different person in the next. Obviously this would attract many deviant minded individuals
who could express themselves without regret. Although 4chan is widely diverse, the majority of the
social movements are aided by the random subcategory of the site, also known as /b/. /b/ s makeup is
almost entirely teenage to middle aged Caucasian males who reside near the lower end of the
economic spectrum. There are millions of people involved in this community, yet only some are brave
enough to physically involve themselves in the social movement known as the Beta Rebellion, or the
Beta Uprising. The entire intent of the Beta Rebellion is to rebel against the social norms associated
with attractiveness, wealth, education etc. Turner and Killian would be very interested in the acts of

Value of Flexible Management
Introduction
Prior to researching this topic, my impression of management was limited. My concept was meshed
within the framework of business and economics. Therefore, my definition of this construct was in
error. For rectification, and foundational reference, management is the process of directing resources
towards the accomplishment of a specific goal. This definition, one that I have derived from the
compilation of many, incorporates two key variables. The first operative word in this definition is
resources. Resources can mean anything from money, employees, athletes, students, or just about any
organized effort, group or cohort. The other functional variable in this definition is goal. The goal or
aim of the organized effort can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also know as directive management, managers tell their subordinates what to do, how to do it and
when to have it completed by (Coye Belohlav, 1995, p 16). They assign roles and responsibilities, set
standards, and define expectations. Within this style of management communication is one way, and
go from management to resources. For example, when the manager speaks the employee listens and
reacts.
As defined above, the purpose of management is to direct resources toward a goal. In autocratic
management, the manager sets all goals with specific deadlines to track progress. The autocratic
manager is the principal of the decision making process. When a problem arise the resources report to
the manager and the manager evaluates the options and makes the decision as to the direction and
action that should be taken (Coye Belohlav, 1995). In terms of management feedback, the autocratic
style of management calls for detailed instructions of changes that need to be made to the final
product. Any rewards and recognition bestowed by autocratic managers are dictated by how well
people follow directions.
A perfect illustration of a working application of the autocratic style of management can be seen
though the management employed in United States Military. Within the military the ranking system
sets a scene for the role of the manager. In accordance with a strict chain of commands, members with
a higher rank

matter (Resource, n.d.). Traditional marketing is closed off from consumer engagement. Consumers
are tired of being told what to, how to act, and what to try. And if the consumers don t like it brands
control their voices as well as mute the opinions. Old marketing techniques owned all the control from

Chevy in turn let it all happen while sitting back and watching what consumers of all types had to say.
It like in PR and Advertising the media strongly controls everything.
Negative Aspects: The idea was not completely thought through on how to enter into open branding
waters and stay afloat. In the Chevy ads consumers were slamming the company with what others
already talk about bad gas mileage, oversized bulky SUV, and lack of eye catching interior. Chevy s
intent was not for full out crazy entries to spread unto social media and become a full out circus but
for loyal brand and evangelistic Tahoe owners to engage. To engage in media is not something that
happens overnight it has to be thought out. At first it doesn t take off try again... Being open is a
process and the future of marketing.
c. Given the negative postings, what action would you have recommended for Chevrolet and why?
My recommendation would be to keep going, once you are in the race you can t stop running. Chevy
had already opened the gate to engaging with their consumers and could not turn back now. If they
had went on the site and took down those displeasing ads it would have looked like they were trying to

Nuclear Atomic Facilities And International Security
INTRODUCTION
Since 2002, when the international community discovered the undeclared nuclear facilities and the
magnitude of the Islamic Republic of Iran s nuclear programme, several international players and
Western countries have focused their efforts on hindering its nuclear agenda. Although the Iranian
government has always stressed its civilian objectives, the programme has been considered an
important challenge to the non proliferation regime and international security.
Accordingly, there has been an extensive debate among scholars and policymakers about the
consequences of a nuclear Iran, ranging from claims that it will destabilise the region to a more
optimistic view that it will ensure a nuclear balance. This essay will argue ... Show more content on

In order to address the impact of a nuclear armed Iran in the ME, this essay will be divided into three
sections. Firstly, the genesis of the nuclear programme and its main drivers will be analysed. The
second section will examine the strategies applied by the international community to counter Iranian
nuclear ambitions. Finally, it will discuss the possible consequences of a nuclear Iran, specifically, the
theoretical debate, the lack of incentives for a nuclear domino, with special reference to Israel and
others key countries and, lastly, the factors which could lead to a deepening of the current regional
instability.
IRAN S NUCLEAR AMBITIONS
The origins of the Iranian nuclear programme are found in the Shah regime, and can be dated back to
1957 when the government signed a nuclear cooperation agreement initially with the United States
(USA), and subsequently with Germany and France. Henceforth, the regime was able to develop a
structure to support a programme, which produced knowledge and trained human capital. The arrival
of the revolution halted Tehran s nuclear aspirations for two key reasons: the suspension of nuclear
assistance from the West, and an alleged contradiction of the policy with the new regime. Later,
however, the eight year war against Iraq, acted as a strong motivator for the regime to resume the
programme. As Kayhan Barzegar stress, Iran s

denied ever taking it which didn t help things at all for him because I found my diary sitting on his

The Second Impression Is The Last Impression
Everyone know very well about this statement, First Impression is the Last Impression but the
meaning is that, When one Person takes maximum 3 5 seconds research to form judgement or visual
perception about other person. Everyone forms judgement in a flash, from the person sitting next to us
at Functions, in a park, at dinners or parties anywhere. It is a Human nature and no one cannot refuse
it.
So it is very important to present our best because first Impression is no doubt the Last and you never
have a second Chance to make a second Impression but remember the first Impression is not the Last
chance to make a good Impression.
This however, should not be as everyone, I believe should be given a second chance but we generally
go by the first Impression. Much care is given to what is worn on the first visit. Suppose if girls start
wearing neck ties and boys show up with their eyebrows or eyelashes and ears pierced. Would it give
a good Impression? The answer is No as they are expected to be dressed modestly as dress is primarily
the first indication of what a person really us. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is commonly said, Don t be too minded or else your brain will fall out.
The Question is why First Impression is more important?
The answer is very easy; as you know that on your First day of a university, what you are going to
wear as it will dictate what type of friends you are going to make. Your First Impression may attracts
some persons towards you and make many stay away from you.
Another example is once the foundation has been made, it becomes very difficult to change it. Thus,
the first impression is extremely important because it creates the granite foundation for the way in
which people perceive

Blind Tradition Every society in the modern world has some form of tradition that has been passed
down from generation to generation, and no matter what the custom is, people will continue to follow
it due to the human nature to resist change. Even if there is an urge for change, it will likely be
suppressed and seen as an act of rebellion as most people follow tradition simply because that s just
how it is , and never seem to question why. Suzanne Collin s novel The Hunger Games and Shirley
Jackson s short story The Lottery best illustrate this point by showing how a violent annual tradition
affects a society and its innocent people. The Hunger Games has such uncanny similarities to The
Lottery that it almost seems as if Collins used Jackson s story as a source of inspiration for her novel.
Both The Hunger Games and The Lottery are extremely similar thematically in the sense that
sheepishly following tradition can often be detrimental to society because it can lead to adverse
consequences such as death, ignorance, and a society with no desire to change. Although both works
are very much identical, the primary distinguishing characteristics are the setting and tone. The
Lottery takes place in a small village with about three hundred inhabitants, while The Hunger Games
involves a much larger post apocalyptic world consisting of thirteen districts known as Panem. In The
Lottery , the introduction presents itself

The Simpsons Worst Running Tv Series Of All Time
One of the longest running TV series of all time is the Simpsons. The Simpsons is an animated sitcom
that uses satire to depict the average American family. The Simpson Family consists of Homer

just about everything possibly imaginable. Springfield however has a very large problem, they pollute
like no other place in the United States. It was not until Lisa Simpson proved to the town how polluted
the local lake was that change was instituted. After Lisa saves the lake the city institutes wide spread
trash and recycling procedures. However Homer doesn t want to wait in one of the lines and instead
dumps his trash in the lake. This is the straw that broke the camel s back because after this the lake
became toxic. At this point the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) steps in and with the
authorization of the President. Springfield becomes encapsulated in a large dome. At this point it
becomes a life or death situation. The Simpsons then manage to escape and go on a wild journey. Only
to eventually get caught. Once the Simpsons are returned to the dome, a massive bomb is placed in an
effort to prevent Springfield from further pollution. (The Simpsons Movie). The looming threat that in

The Causes Of Organized Crime In Italy In The 18th Century
Crime figures show that Italy is ranked the 4th highest total crimes amongst the EU states in 2002.
Their total is 2.2 million crimes behind the UK(6.52 Million), Germany(6.51 Million) and France(3.8
Million). This means globally they have the highest percentage of crimes, which is 24.5% of its
population. (Italy Crime Stats) In the 18th century, organized crime in Italy and its criminal
organizations have infiltrated the social and economic life of many regions particularly in Southern
Italy. Sicilain Mafia is suposedly the most notorious. They say that this would later expand into some
foreign countries including the United States.
There are five mafia like organizations that are known to Italy and they are: Cosa Nostra of Sicily,
Ndrangheta Of Calabri, These two are considered to be the biggest cocaine mugglers in Europe, and
Camorra of Naples, are the oldest of five, having started development between 1500 and 1800. When
the 20th century came about there were two new organizations that came about, Stidda and Sacra
Corona Unita of Apulia.(Organized)
With all of the above being said there should be some type of way that we can make sure that the
cocain is not being sumggled into these places. Man y crimes in the US are the same as Italy, the way
they are handled are very different. The FBI refers to the gangs listed above as Italian Organized

My Cultural Aspects Of My Culture In Cape Verdean
A culture is a set of characteristics of a particular group of people. It emcopasses language, social
aspect, such as relegion, cuisine, social habits,, music, and arts. I considered my culture to be Cape
Verdean. I was born and raised in Cape Verde until I was fourteen. My country was colonized by the
Portuguese, so there are a lot common culture aspects between Cape Verde and Portugal . One of the
results of colonization was implementation of catholicism as a primary religion in my country. It was
not until recent years that other forms of religious started to emerge in Cape Verde. However, for some
people who strong practice catholicism there is a strong push back against those who aren t from the
same religion. This has raised a lot religion conflict not only with foreign people who come to Cape

who have a different belief.
Into what region or geographical section or world were you born? What messages have you received
about people from this region or geographical area?
Cape Verde is located right in center of the Atlantic Ocean, 500 km off the Western Coast of Africa. In
recent years, more people have started to questioning the location of Cape Verde because unlike other

Social Class And Its Relevance
There has been an ongoing debate about social class and its relevance in contemporary society. Marx s
social class theory was relating to man and his access to the means of production. He stated there are
two classes the bourgeoisie, those who own the means of the production and the proletariat who only
possess their labour power to sell ( Ollman, 1976). Pakulski and Waters argued that social is dead, due
to changes in economic and social structures along with adaptions in social identity and belonging
(1996). Although there has been changes and transformations to social class over time, for example
Bourdieu s three forms of capital. He states there is economic capital, cultural capital and finally
social capital (1986). Bourdieu built ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(CSO, 2012: 11, Figure 1d). This text will look at opportunity in Ireland in relation to social class
(Village, 2014). Both education and the health system will be analysed for processes of inequalities
between social classes in Ireland.
The text will also look at how Ireland s liberal policies have a great effect on social disparities within
society. The policies implemented by Irish governments encourage market participation, and have
seen many institutions becoming privatised. Liberal states have also shown to have the lowest public
expenditure according to Navarro and Shi (2001). This leads to inequality between social classes
which will be elaborated on later in the text. Ireland has great income inequality, leading to a high
contrast in relation to opportunity, meaning it s a good example for showing social class as a structure
of inequality. Bourdieu also stated that cultural capital leads to inequalities in society. He argued that
some forms of cultural capital are respected more than others. The concept of cultural capital can
create class identity because individuals share similar backgrounds, tastes, accents etc. This creates
group identities. It is because some forms of cultural capital are valued more than others that
disparities arise. This is a case of how social class has changed in society but still survives (Social
Theory Rewired, 2011).
Now let s look towards the education system. In Ireland all

The Efficacy of Patient-Controlled Analgesia
The practice of patient controlled analgesia (PCA) has been around for approximately four decades
now. During this time there have been improvements to the technology and the understanding of how
to use this form of patient pain control; however, there continues to be concern related to the safety
and efficacy of PCA. As this analysis proceeds it will briefly explain what PCA is and how it is used,
then delve into the benefits and the safety issues surrounding PCA use as it pertains to the patient and
the nurse. Some of the benefits of PCA include improved pain management, improved use of nursing

Only patient activation of their infusion pump allows for this fundamental safeguard to come into
play. Later in this paper we will discuss the safety issues related to the activation of a PCA infusion
pump by someone other than the patient, a practice called PCA by proxy. Although there appears to be
significant benefits to the use of PCA infusion pumps, there are significant safety issues arising from
the use of PCA infusion pumps that can cause severe harm and potentially even death. Some of these
safety issues include infusion pump programming errors, basal infusion of opioids, and PCA by proxy.
A leading type of error identified in doing harm to PCA patients is the improper dosage or quantity of
analgesic medication (Hicks et al, 2008). This sort of error took place on a patient returning to a
hospital for postoperative pain management following a recent surgical procedure. The nurse was

How Estuaries Are Diverse And Rich Environments Essay
Estuaries are incredibly diverse and rich environments. An estuary allows for diverse populations of
fishes and other invertebrates because of the varying salinities and rich food sources (Keefer, Caudill,
Peery, Moser, 2013). If an estuary is long enough there is a gradient as the fresh and salt water begin
to mix ( At the river s end, 2005). This gradient provides protection for some species and breeding
grounds for other species. The unique habitat is makes a great nursery for juvenile fishes (Fulford et
al., 2014). Anadromous fishes spawn in freshwater and migrate to saltwater until they are sexually
mature when they return to freshwater habitats to reproduce (Feyrer et al., 2015). The opposite is said
for catadromous fishes which spawn in saltwater and migrate to freshwater until they are sexually
mature when they return to saltwater to reproduce (Walsh, Gray, West, Williams, 2011).
Salt marshes have high primary productivity (O Connor, Violin, Anton, Ladwig, Piehler, 2011). Much
like estuaries, salt marshes have a variety of different salinities. The environment of a salt marsh is
dependent on the tides and the weather. The upper marsh has lower salinity due to low tidal inflow,
whereas the lower marsh salinity is maintained by daily tidal inflow. However, variables such as heavy
rain can affect both the upper and lower tidal zones. Salt marshes can also experience dry seasons
where the water experiences evaporation which increases the salinity of

Which of these is more correct?
A great deal of people consider Mormonism to be a cult. They think that they have strange customs,

but does that really make it a cult? To quote the textbook: A cult represents a distinct break from other

Regional Differences Between New England And The...
Despite the population of settlers in New England and the Chesapeake region being mostly English
emigrants, the regions evolved very differently. The difference in development between New England
and the Chesapeake region occurred as a result of the differences in economies, religious views, and
senses of unity. One cause for the differences between the regions was the differences in economies.
In New England, the land of the settlements was divided more fairly, with everyone getting a fitting
size of land and a share of the planting grounds and meadows (Doc D). Prices of goods also tended to
be more fair in New England. There, tradesmen and laborers were expected to price products
reasonably in order to avoid making their neighbors poor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The New England settlers believed that it was important to have unity among themselves and work
together and help each other to survive and establish a life in the settlements (Doc A). Tradesmen were
expected not to impoverish each other due to overpriced products. The more fair split of property and
agricultural land was also a display of the sense of economic unity in New England (Doc D). The
importance of fair pricing and distribution of property to New England settlers showed their sense of
unity through the economy as they believed that economic unity was necessary to the success of the
settlements. The New England settlers also valued religious unity as well. The structure of the towns
around churches contributed to the theocracy of the settlements, uniting those with the the same
Puritan views. Alternatively, the Chesapeake region lacked the same economic unity. With the drastic
differences between the upper and lower classes, the lower class was overcharged for any products,

Essay Slaves will be Slaves
Petronius Arbiter, in Trimalchio s Dinner Party, the third chapter of his book Satyricon, mocks the
nature of slaves. He was a top official in Rome, namely the quot;Judge of Taste quot; in Nero s court
(129). Regardless of the responsibilities he had, he was an aristocrat. The history of Rome was written
from an aristocratic perspective because they were the ones who had the money, ambition and free
time to document history. Petronius believed that slaves are low class, and that a slave that has been
set free, id est a freedmen, is still a slave at heart, ergo worthless. Not with all the money in the world
could he develop the taste of the upper class. In ancient and modern times alike, money cannot buy a
good personality or social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is a social outcast in Roman culture because he was sodomized, however he rationalizes that
quot;it s okay if your master makes you do it quot; (146). He uses language that a blacksmith might
use (23). His wife was a prostitute before he bought her freedom. For the cultured Roman, it would be
repulsive to even take bread from her hand, let alone marry her (26).
Some very sublime, perhaps debatable evidence of the thesis is presented by Petronius using a
metaphor to express his view that a slave will always be a slave. If a slave is freed, he s still the same
person, a low life. Petronius writes a scene where a boar wearing the hat of a freedman is brought into
the dining room. It was supposed to be the dinner for the previous night but they quot;set him free
quot; (29). However, a free boar is still a boar, and now he is dinner. The hat changes nothing.
Petronius asserts his personal belief that slaves will be slaves no matter what changes on the outside,
they will always be slaves on the inside.
From the viewpoint of the aristocracy, merchants were generally considered to be of a very low class.
Trimalchio, which ironically means quot;prince quot; in Hebrew (18), gained his freedom because he
was an accountant and the sexual servant to both the master and the mistress of the household. He
inherited money and freedom when his master died. He amassed great wealth by using that money in

Problems Associated With Road Traffic Injuries
1.2. Problem Statement
In Makueni County a considerable burden of diseases is caused by injuries and other life threatening
emergencies. Over two hundred patients with road traffic injuries are received in the health facilities
for definitive treatment in a year as per the occurrence register at the County Ambulance Call Centre.
The accidents are mainly along the major roads such as Nairobi Mombasa highway, Makindu Wote
road and Wote Machakos roads. Although the patients who need emergency care are often handled by
the bystanders who come to their aid, some of the victims die on the scene of the accident while others
on transit to health facilities. Sometimes, the patients transferred to the health facilities cannot be
managed satisfactorily and about a quarter of them require secondary urgent transfer to other health
facilities either due lack of facilities or expertise. This often leads to a tremendous loss of time, waste
of resources, lack of effectiveness; hence aggravating the injuries sustained resulting to complications
or even death. The crash related complications often result to long hospital delays and hence exert
pressure on hospital facilities.
The research is therefore aimed at determining the status of pre hospital emergency care for persons
experiencing road traffic injuries and will in turn help to improve the quality of emergency medical
services, save life, avert disability and other complications resulting from these emergencies.

Unconditional Faith In Night By Elie Wiesel
Elie Wiesel published Night in 1955. This book is his testimony to the awful situations he and millions
of others had to encounter. Eliezer is a devout Jew at a young age. His conviction is flipped upside
down when the Nazis enter his life, and he believes God walked out. He does not understand God s
calmness during this tragedy. He demands answers but is met with silence. In Night, Wiesel uses
Eliezer to depict how his unconditional faith is shaken down to nonexistence during the Holocaust.
Before Eliezer s living nightmare reigns down, he is dedicated to his religion. At twelve years old, he
spends his time strengthening his beliefs: By day I studied Talmud and by night I would run to the
synagogue to weep over the destruction of the Temple ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Seeing his fellow Jews executed makes Eliezer feel his God died with them: Never shall I forget those
moments that murdered my God and my soul and turned my dreams to ashes (Wiesel 34). Eliezer s
own personal hell is eliminating all of what he stood for. While other prisoners talk about God, Eliezer
turns his cheek: As for me, I had ceased to pray... I was not denying His existence, but I doubted his
absolute justice (Wiesel 45). He does not question God s entity, but he does His morals. He thinks why
pray when no one is listening. During one of the hangings, another prisoner inquires about God s
presence. Eliezer thinks to himself, Where He is? This is where hanging here from this gallows
(Wiesel 65). He refers to God being murdered again hanging there with the innocent. In Frunza s
article, she illustrates, Is it not about God s silence and like Wiesel s other works, it is not about God s
total absence or death. It is about humanity ... committing against one another, about the Jew and
Israel s suffering (100). Eliezer needs to target his anger toward the ones carrying out the inhuman
acts. God will sometimes answer prayers in ways that are not seen. He will not always respond to one
s terms but to His own. That does not mean He is not there. God needs to know one has complete trust
in Him, and Eliezer fails in that test. During the Rosh Hashanah service, he still questions why he
should worship:

Summary Of Betty Friedan s The Feminine Mystique
The 1960s were a time of change for many Americans, whether it be dealing with the women s
liberation movement, civil rights, or the anti war movement. During this period, many issues that had
laid beneath the surface were brought out, it was a time for change. The second wave of feminism was
established in the sixties, beginning when many women addressed the topics that angered them in the
world, specifically pertaining to their own rights. The sixties brought up many feelings, feelings that
had been buried or held back for some time, Betty Friedan has been one of those many people to
address her feelings and put it out in the world. Friedan wrote a book named The Feminine Mystique,
which has become an international bestseller and has sold over one million copies since its release in
1963(citation, from opening of book). Her book focused on the societal expectations that kept women
in the home for many years. Friedan captured the anger and frustration many women felt, and offered
ways for women to recapture their lives back. Betty Friedan s book, The Feminine Mystique, launched
a conversation about women s roles in society, which started the second wave of feminism where
society began to see women as self reliant, and capable to do the tasks men had been doing as long as
time.
Friedan s article The Problem that Has No Name grabbed the attention of any women who would
listen, she called attention to the standards that were supposed to make women feel content and

The Negative Effects of Persistent Organic Pollutants
As newly synthesized chemicals are constantly being created, whether for pharmaceutical purposes,
agricultural growth or just for the use of commercial products, their adverse effects on the
environment, especially in remote places, are often overlooked. Such has been seen with the
production of persistent organic pollutants in the mid 1900s, a series of chemicals that were
commonly manufactured for the intended uses in agriculture, yet have been found to negatively affect
many other sectors in both nature and human health (EPA, 2009). Due to the grasshopping effect, the
past production of persistent organic pollutants in North America, Europe and Asia have contributed to
adverse health effects and biomagnification present in the Arctic regions today.
Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) are chemical substances that resist degradation and continue to
persist in the environment. Such chemicals pose a threat to humans, biodiversity and the environment
due to their ability to bio accumulate in organisms as well as biologically magnify through levels of
the food chain (UNIDO, n.d.). POPs are also classified as long range transport pollutants as they are
able to travel far distances from the source of contamination by natural means such as water, wind and
atmospheric cycles. For this reason, such pollutants are being found in the Arctic, despite these
regions not being the source of producing such chemical contaminants (Ma, et al, 2011). As listed by
the Stockholm Convention,

1986 by the Atheneum publishing house in New York City. It hit shelves June 1 and contains 128
pages. The book gives full detail on its subject, and was truly engaging, always making me want more.
Of course, it had its flaws, but was still an excellent read. I have always been intrigued in Russia and
its roots, and now this book gave me a lot of insight on Old Russia as what it used to be, the formation

Andrei eventually got out of being a serf, gained a high education, and went to university to become a
lawyer. What made this unusual is his background, he was a serf, but now a highly intelligent person,
not slave. Shortly after, there was an altercation between him and a professor, where the professor
misunderstood Andrei and forcefully took him out of his class. This caused an outrage, because of the
teacher s origin. They did not speak fluent Russian, and the students found this altercation to be
absurd. This caused many things to happen at the school, and Andrei to be expelled where he then
went to work on a farm. His story stops here, while Sonia s begins. Sonia did not want to become

on page 7, it says you can counteract the mistakes a tired person makes, if you take short naps.
Astronauts in space average 2 hours less sleep than usual as stated on page 6. This makes them
grumpy and have trouble concentrating. However, a nap could help them make fewer mistakes and
boost their mental performance. So you should try to get the right amount for your age group, or else
you will suffer these negative effects. Luckily, napping can help you regain lost sleep, help you focus,
and counteract the effects of loss of sleep. On page 6, it tells you that scientific studies prove the
benefits of naps. In fact, nappers may even have better long term health compared to people who don t
nap as stated on page 8. On nights when you don t get enough sleep, napping can help. Napping for as
little as 24 minutes improves your mental performance. Therefore, napping can help you if you don t

help lessen these effects. So for everyone, there is a right amount of sleep, but if that isn t met napping
can help reduce the bad effects that lack of sleep caused. Seems like Adamoond should have taken a

African American Family In The 1970 s
Once again, in the 1970s, changes in the structure and dynamics of the American family are present in
the popular 1970s TV show The Brady Bunch . Perhaps the biggest change that is present is the
structure of the family portrayed. The Brady s, the TV shows main subject, would be considered a
blended family. Mike Brady, the father in the show, has three sons from a previous relationship; he
marries Carol, who has three daughters from a previous relationship, there marriage brings both

The family that is depicted in this TV show is the Huxtable family, this is a African American family
with a nuclear family structure, as it contains a married couple living with their five children. This is
the first TV show that we watched that s main subject is an African American family. In the previous
TV shows viewed there was a lack of any type of African American population in them. Based on the
careers of the parents, one being a doctor and the other being a lawyer, I can assume that this is an
upper middle class family. For the first time, in this show we see the children being a bit rebellious,
and less submissive to the authority of their parents. It appears that both parents share equal authority,
and an argument can be made that the mother is more authoritative then the father in this show, as the
father seems to take more of a relaxed comical approach to confrontations with his children. This
show does correlate with the real culture of the decade, as for the first time African American s are
able to hold high level jobs such as the ones that both parents in this show have. However, this show
may possess a false narrative, as through studying this period in time there is still obvious racial
barriers that are being put against the African American race. The Cosby Show provides the first look
of a African American family and also portrays some things that are happening for the first time in U.S

Plasmid Transformation Of E. Coli
Plasmid transformation of E. coli using pVIB
Savannah Jacobs
April 4th, 2016
BIO 335 Spring 2016
Dr. Koester Abstract Since bacteria are haploid, asexually reproducing organisms it is important for
these organisms to be able to accept genetic variability into their genome. A process called
transformation, which involves absorbing small segments of DNA from deceased organisms in the
natural world, does this. Transformation can also be mimicked in the laboratory using plasmid.
Plasmids are small segments of DNA that occur in bacteria that allow us to regulate if transformation
was successful. We attempted transformation of E. coli cells using plasmid called pVIB, which allows
for luminescence and resistance to the antibiotic ampicillin, from Vibrio fischeri, however, we did not
achieve a successful transformation.
Introduction
Some organisms, such as bacteria, have the ability to transform into a new form by picking up small
segments of DNA from other organisms. This process is known as transformation and happens quite
often in nature. Quite often organisms die and release their DNA into aqueous environments. The
DNA is broken down but it is a while before it is fully destroyed allowing for bacteria cells and other
organisms to transform their own DNA using the broken down segments from the deceased organism
(Dodd). Transformation is an extremely important step in increasing genetic variation in organisms
that reproduce asexually, allowing for them to make both

How to Insulate Shipping Container Home The reason to insulate shipping container home Shipping
container home is a new emerging industry for those looking for something new, sleek, modern,
affordable structure but strong and quick deployed. However, as shipping container home is quite new,
few concerns remain to be responded in order to gain people s trust in its reliability. One of the main
concerns is the insulation. The shipping container is actually built for cargo shipping, it is weather

External insulation helps you to not reduce your internal space. It prevents hot or cold weather to
reach the steel surface thus maintaining the internal space relatively conditioned. It also keeps the
water away from the steel and prevents corrosion and helps prolong its life. Internal insulation is more
preferred as it hides the corrugated steel walls from inside and you would not feel you re inside a
shipping container at all. However, internal insulation has similar impact in keeping the building
conditioned but the external surface remains vulnerable to water and moisture which lead to corrosion
in the welding parts, though the containers are initially specially epoxy paint treated in order to resist
humidity in ports and though ocean conditions. However, there are a third option; combination of
internal and external. Besides you use internal insulation, we highly recommend those living in hot or
rainy climate areas to have a second roof and wall sidings in order to make the external more aesthetic
but foremost, it helps you greatly to save the container shell from direct sunshine in hot climate and
corrosion and likely leakage in rainy conditions. What type of insulation should be used? There are
various types of insulation products. Most of our customers choose to go with Fiberglass material
insulation which is the same type of insulation you find in many conventional homes. As shown in the

Personal Jurisdiction Of The State Of Florida
The appropriate court for this lawsuit depends upon several factors. Three important considerations
are personal jurisdiction, subject matter jurisdiction, and minimum contracts. Personal jurisdiction
pertains to the laws and facts involved in the lawsuit. Donald Margolin is suing a corporation, Novelty
Now. Corporations are subject to in personam jurisdiction in three locations: the state of their
incorporation, the location of their main offices, and the geographic areas in which they conduct

Because the defendant, Novelty Now, has taken necessary action to exercise jurisdiction, it would be
unreasonable and a violation of due process. However the state courts could, by asserting a long arm
jurisdiction, have personal jurisdiction in New York. Since Chris, Matt, and Ian did not reside or do
business in New York, Novelty Now is not incorporated in New York, and Funny Face is not
manufactured in New York, they could argue that the State of New York does not have jurisdiction.
However, the court could argue that because Funny Face is advertised by radio, Facebook, newspapers
and internet that they had in fact done business in New York. This is an example of minimum contacts
and would provide New York with authority over the parties and this case.
Alternative dispute resolution (ADR) may be an option to resolve this dispute. ADR is a method in
which options other than litigation are used to resolve a dispute instead of going to trial. The two most
popular methods used are arbitration and mediation. Typically most corporations prefer ADR as

An Extension Of The Proposed Sand And Activated Charcoal...
Introduction
This report is an extension of the proposed sand and activated charcoal water filtration system for
Engineers without Borders to adapt in Mayukwayukwa. The household based, point of use system, is
advantageous for its usability, cost efficiency, and lack of ongoing energy requirements however
specific measures relating to economic, social and environmental sustainability have been identified to
increase beneficial outcomes. Similarly, measures have been examined to adapt to the growing
concern of climate change, and ensure long term suitability.
Sustainability measures
When considering the project as a whole, each aspect has been selected in light of its appropriateness
in Mayukwayukwa. Although plastic is not environmentally sustainable, its advantages; economic
feasibility, easy transportation, and a lifespan of over 50 years outweigh this (EPA, 2007). Similarly to
plastic, although PVC is unsustainable, it is most cost efficient. Charcoal is to be collected directly
from the wood based fires citizens use for cooking, thereby recycling a waste product. Although
emissions from burning wood are not ecologically ideal, cooking practices are unlikely to change in
the short term considering limited alternatives, and thus charcoal is considered as economically and
socially efficient. Sand and gravel are also locally sourced, at limited cost. Excluding the plastic, all
items are carbon neutral and sustainable. Aforementioned design features have also been

structure in both domestic and international market. However, in 1987, under new circumstances, such
as the change Yen prices, and the pressure of integration of information technologies that need
international transfers, sharing, and synergies, MEI s faced declines in sales and profits because its
structure was exposed some weakness. To overcome these problems, MEI should choose Worldwide

Therefore, Matsushita created a small business environment in which all MEI s divisions could
maintain its growth and flexibility. The core of Matsushita s divisional structure was One product One
Division system in which each product line was managed by a separate autonomous division that was
expected to operate as if it were an independent corporation. Corporate management provided division
with initial fund, and the corporate treasury operated essentially like a commercial bank. Divisions
deposit their excess funds and received normal market interest. Request for additional corporate funds
to meet expansion plans were submitted as loan applications to the central finance department. This
organizational system generate a high level of internal competition among divisions, and helped drive
new product development that managers saw as their best way to maintain long term growth and
profitability. The need to fund new product development also drove managers to maximize
performance of existing products.
MEI managed the international business by categorizing its overseas branches and plants into three
groups: The A group, the wholly owned single product global sourcing plants that reported primarily
to the relevant product divisions of MEI and were tightly controlled by them; the B group was the
multi product sales and manufacturing subsidiaries that reported to corporate overseas management

MOVABLE SOLAR POWER PLANT CUM SOLAR PUMP
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The invention relates to the solar power plant. More, particularly, this invention relates to a movable
solar power plant cum solar pump wherein the solar panels can be carried to one place to another and
can produce simultaneously solar electricity for solar pump as well as electricity for various electrical
equipment/apparatus.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
As fossil fuels put the planet in peril, hopes for future prosperity in the developing world now rest on
bold initiatives of use of renewable source of energy. Solar technology is evolving, costs are coming
down and grid connectivity is improving. The dream of universal access to clean energy is becoming
more real. This will be the foundation of the new economy of the new century. Solar energy is radiant
light and heat from the Sun harnessed using a range of ever evolving technologies such as solar
heating, photovoltaic, solar thermal energy, solar architecture and artificial photosynthesis. Solar panel
refers to a panel designed to absorb the sun s rays as a source of energy for generating electricity or
heating. A solar powered pump is a pump running on electricity generated by photovoltaic panels or

The Importance Of Building A Monument
Although building a statue or memorial seems simple you think of something you want to build or
memorialize, you choose a location, you design it, and then of course, you build it. However, the
actual process proves to be more controversial and painstaking. The difficulties when it comes to
building a statue or monument should arise prior to building the actual monument. The most critical
stages of development are throughout the design and planning process. This is due to the many factors
that have to go into consideration when designing a monument the overall purpose of the monument,
the design of the monument, and choosing the right location and position of the monument all while
considering ways to strengthen the aura and draw in more visitors. The main purpose of a monument
is by far the factor that should receive the utmost consideration and development. This is because the
other stages of development and design revolve around the purpose of the monument. Before you can
decide what a monument will look like, you must know what you want to accomplish with the
monument along with the feelings you wish to inspire in visitors. For example, if you wanted to
portray a soldier s courage and strength through a statue, you may not want to build a 5 foot tall,
flimsy aluminum statue of a smiling soldier with open arms, ready to embrace a hug. The significance
of a monumental purpose was highlighted in Christine Musser s Preserving Memory: National
Holocaust Memorial Museum

Similarities Between As I Lay Dying And For Whom The Bell...
In their very nature, we can see that these two novels vary greatly in purpose, structure, and the way
that they convey their messages. Although this is true, they make up for this when we examine the
motives of the authors and certain ways that the authors convey messages. Ernest Hemingway and
William Faulkner grew up and developed their opinions in far different ways. Hemingway was heavily
affected by his experiences in World War I and the Spanish Civil War. These events greatly influenced
Hemingway s ideas about war in For Whom the Bell Tolls (5). Conversely, Faulkner grew up in the
deep south of Mississippi, and his life in the south heavily influenced his writing of As I Lay Dying
(4). The two authors and their stories may vary, but these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the most central character relationships in both surrounds hostility between characters that
should otherwise be friends. In As I Lay Dying, this situation is shown through the relationship
between Jewel and Darl, and also through the relationship between Anse and Addie. In For Whom the
Bell Tolls, we see a similar relationship between Pablo and Robert Jordan. The hostility that these
character have for one another is rooted in a lack of trust. Addie is hostile to Anse because she
believes that Anse manipulated her into having children, without truly loving her. Darl is hostile to
Jewel because Jewel was Addie s favorite child, and Darl believes that Jewel was unfairly given love
(so he chooses not to trust Jewel). Robert Jordan lacks trust for Pablo because he believes that Pablo
will betray the him and the Republic. This hostility between characters is also similar in the fact the
we do not always know the reasoning or the outcome of hostility. For the entire first half of the novel,
we do not know why Addie acted the way that she did, and for the same reason, why Darl treated
Jewel the way that he did. We will never know how much Robert Jordan s hostility for Pablo affected
the story. Perhaps Robert Jordan would have gone on to live a happy life had he not disrupted the flow
of the group. The similar way in which hostility between characters is depicted shows a great
similarity between the novels, but we can also see a great contrast in the way love is shown. The love
that Maria and Robert Jordan have in For Whom the Bell Tolls is depicted as very free and open,
while Addie refuses to love anyone but Jewel in her family, because she was betrayed and Anse only
said, and did not show, that he loved her. This contrast might be shown as a difference, but the
opposite appears to be true. The love that Maria and Robert have is really

India Essay
If on Earth be an Eden of bliss, it is this, it is this, none but this !
That says a very well known Persian verse, written on one of the walls of the Public Auditorium of Lal
Quila (Red Fort), in Old Delhi.
They say India changes your state of mind and soul. India has this impact through its inhabitants,
music, traditional dances and its marvelous monuments. Nobody can resist a warming welcoming and
`spicy country which smoothly seduces you.
Our plane resound of applauses the very minute we landed in New Delhi; the Indians started preparing
for getting off the plane, fixing up their turbans and combing their moustaches. At the arrival gate, the

In two days we made the city tour: Red Fort (Lal Quila), built by the Mogul emperor Shah Jahan in
1648, it is the well known Agra Fort replicate and sheltered once the Legendary Peacock Thrown and
the Koh I Nor diamond, taken as war capture in 1739, by the Persians. Presently the diamond is set in
the Royal British Crown. We passed by India Gate, an arch of 42 meters high dedicated to the Indian
soldiers killed in the First World War whose names are unscripted all over the monument. Connaught
Place is the commercial center of the capital, with shops, restaurants, stalls and cinemas; Humayun s
Tomb, the one who won the town s independence from the Afghans invaders in 1555, lies in the
middle of a beautiful garden; the red sand stone monument is considered to be a prototype for the Taj
Mahal. On Kalkaji hill there s the modern temple Bahai Lotus, imitating the form of a lotus. Built in
white marble and finished in 1986 it is a pilgrimage destination for the Bahai faith.
Qutab Minar is a Muslim monument built from the remains of some ancient Hindu Temples; the Iron
Pillar from the interior yard, probably risen as a tribute to one of the local gods Vishnu, has been very
well kept along the years. It has been manufactured during the Gupta Empire, 1800 years ago and
shows no trace of rust so far; it is almost pure iron and has been extracted using a method that Europe
discovered many years later. The legend says all the wishes can come true for the one who

The Between Germany And The European Union
Germany is located in Central Europe, Northern Hemisphere. Germany s population (82 million
people), is the largest population in the European Union, although the population has declined in the
past decade by 2 million people.
On the German flag, the colours red, black and yellow all represent something. The first stripe, (black)
is meant to represent determination. The second stripe (red) represents many concepts such as
hardiness, bravery, strength and valour. The last horizontal stripe (gold/yellow) it represents
Generosity.
Political History of Germany
In 1848, Germany was divided into 39 separate states that had experienced a number of revolutions in
many parts of the country. The revolutionaries tried to force their rulers to allow greater political
freedom and tried to unify the separate states into one country. By 1849 the revolutionaries had been
ceased across Germany and kings and princes regained their power. Liberal nationalists all over
Germany now saw the chance to create a new united Germany. These liberal national Politicians met
in Frankfurt at the new preliminary parliament (vorparliment) to make arrangements for setting up the
new constitutional law. Due to this, the economy had experienced significant changes in the1850s and
1860s. Before World War 1 had begun there where a lot of defence alliances existed between the
between major European counties. This meant that if one of the European countries declared war on
another then the other countries

Somalia And Its Effects On Somalia
I don t recognize my people anymore. I feel Somalia is lost. There is no Somalia. It is just a name
(Abdi, 2016) . Over the past 20 years Somalia as a country has been in turmoil and constant fighting.
Today s Somalia is still a harsh environment and the people are unforgiving as they too are trying to
survive this oasis of violence. Considering Somalia in the news now we see after years of fighting and
trying to support this country with food, water, and security it has progressed but not quickly. It has
been a battle for any support to the country essentially taking two steps forward and one step back. In
2012 a new internationally backed government was installed: Somalia has shown progression but is
still being hindered by an Al Qaeda aligned group, Al Shabaab. Because of this newly backed
government Somalia had their first elected president since 1967. Due to Hassan Sheikh Mohamud
winning the popular vote we can see the country is setting stones to become politically stable. Hassan
Sheikh Mohamud had made plans but shelved next Presidential election due to lack of security in and
infrastructure (Somalia Country profile, 2016). I asses that he could potentially with these new powers
behind him change the way the country is headed for the better. Without more support from the
internationally backed government the president will only be able to do so much for his people and the
country. With Somalia beginning to produce off shore oil and gas on 21 October 2014 they have

Sex After Menopause And Its Effects On Young Adults And Men
The ten commercial I viewed ranged in advertisements. They targeted older people, young adults and
men. Several of the consumers geared their products for anti aging products. There were several that
were geared toward anti aging; these commercials where Osphena, Ensure, K Y ultra gel, Viagra for
women, and proactive. There were two that were geared toward men; Viagra, and old spice hair
product for men. Tommiecopper was another commercial. It was geared to those who are physically
active and may need a knee support due to pain. Lastly, there were two commercials that geared to
men and women who are older. These commercial were on funeral advertising and mortgage reversals.
Ospemifene is an oral medication indicated for the treatment of dyspareunia. This is encountered by
some women, more often in those who are post menopausal. It is supposed to help with sex after
menopause. Ensure was expressing the many ways it can help with Nutrition, Lifestyle change, and
Fitness. It promotes positive, healthy choices in older women so that it can help you improve your
health and maybe even discover your best self. KY ultra gel is for dryness for women. Vaginal dryness
occurs most often during perimenopause and menopause. Your body produces reduced amounts of
estrogen during menopause, which accounts for the majority of vaginal dryness encountered by
women. Viagra for women is for post menopausal or post hysterectomy women who complain of
female sexual arousal disorder. The women in

Robinson Voyage Thesis
For the last two weeks in class we have touched upon the topic of colonizing.we come to this topic
point by reading four different text to the virginian voyage , robinson crusoe , the white man,s burden ,
and the sacred mission of civilization . So far we have been asked to pick one of the following text of
class to concentrate on and to answer three questions that was given to us. In which i pick to the
virginian voyage by michael drayton to focus on. The questions given was 1.) how do colonizers see
themselves? , 2.) how do the colonizer see their mission in colonizing the new world? , 3.) how do
colonizers think that the colonized see them? . So i belive that this poem is most fitted to answer those
questions. The first question ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To answer this the author told readers that the colonizers believes that the land would be perfect , so
they are going to claim it. For example in the fourth stanza it states to get the peale and gold ro in
other words its saying they want to win the prizes/resources of the new land. And the next part after
this it says where nature hath in store fowle, venison, and fish and the fruitfull st soyle... Three
harvests more all greater than you wish which is saying that they belive that there s going to be more
food and good weather for harvest. Another example to show that the colonizer believed it was going
to be a perfect land was in stanza nine it s where as the lushious smell of that delicious land , above
the seas that flowers, the cleere wind throwes, your hearts to swell approaching the deare stand. to sum
that up he believes that the land will have nice weather and beautiful land fulled with flower. And with
all of this they belive once they get there its all theirs, which leads us to the third question. Third
question that was given to us was how do the colonizers think that the colonized see them? . I claimed
that the colonized are not there but the people from their old country are. I claim this because they
think no one is there at all. For example whose reading shall inflame men to seeks fame this is

Neat People Vs Sloppy People Analysis
One may say that a neat person cleans every second of the day while a sloppy person doesn t clean up
after themselves but in the article we will differentiate between the two. In the essay Neat People vs.
Sloppy People, by Dave Barry he has his own opinion on the two. In the essay he says Neat people are
lazier and meaner than sloppy people , I agree with that because I am a very neat person but I am not
lazy. I like my room to be cleaned a certain way and the bathroom, cleaned the certain way because if
it isn t cleaned the way I clean it will make me feel like it wasn t cleaned to its full potential. If I had a
long day from school and work I might brush off cleaning for that day but that doesn t mean I am
lazier than anyone else. If I don t have time to clean my room and the bathroom I might get upset
because it throws off my whole schedule and cleaning routine but I am ... Show more content on

Their sloppiness is merely the unfortunate consequence of their extreme moral rectitude. Sloppy
people carry in their mind s eye a heavenly vision, a precise plan, that is so stupendous, so perfect, it
can t be achieved in this world or the next. This opinion I might has to disagree because their is
different definitions for the word sloppy. The definition I know for sloppy is a person who is careless
and unsystematic; excessively casual. When I hear those words you think of someone who is messy
and is careless or even carefree about the world around them and how they present themselves. I
understand what the author thinks about sloppy people but the opinion that he is saying I don t think
that is the correct term to use for his opinion I believe the term that he sound of used was open minded
thinkers because they have a lot of thoughts and creativity but that the same time their ideas and their
thoughts are so scattered around in others point of views it might look sloppy, unorganized or even

Religion And Hypocrisy In The Decameron
Boccaccio, through the stories in The Decameron, often makes fun of the Italy s false perfection and
immortality. Through each story he picks a specific aspect of the Italian imperfect to poke fun at and
highlight the ridiculousness or hypocrisy of. One topic he often highlights is religion and how
arbitrary it was at this time in Italy, especially during the time of the black plague. Two of these stories
that discuss religion are the First Day First story and the Third Day First Story. These two stories
focus on religion and the falsely perfect smoke screen that hides the naivety and hypocrisy in their
holiest of places and people. The story of Ser Cepparello is the first of the two stories in The
Decameron that humorously makes fun of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the story of Ser Cepparello, the sinner was a citizen and the man of the church was the naive fool
while in the story of Masetto, the sinners were the Nuns while the person who was acting naive to an
extent was the citizen. Though in both stories there was a sinner and someone else, the other person
was not completely innocent. The priest Ser Cepparello spoke to was insane for believing that any
man at the time almost never sinned and was, as much a virgin today as when [he] came forth from
[his] mama s body (Boccaccio 23). Masetto, on the other hand knew exactly what he was doing when
he went to the convent to garden, but at the same time, the nuns could have chosen not to break their
vow and to stay pure and married to God instead of giving in and having unsolicited (to them at least)
sex with him. The naivety and lying both displayed by the clergy and congregation shows just how out
of practice and uninformed the Catholics were at this time in

  • 5. Value of Flexible Management Introduction Prior to researching this topic, my impression of management was limited. My concept was meshed within the framework of business and economics. Therefore, my definition of this construct was in error. For rectification, and foundational reference, management is the process of directing resources towards the accomplishment of a specific goal. This definition, one that I have derived from the compilation of many, incorporates two key variables. The first operative word in this definition is resources. Resources can mean anything from money, employees, athletes, students, or just about any organized effort, group or cohort. The other functional variable in this definition is goal. Also know as directive management, managers tell their subordinates what to do, how to do it and when to have it completed by (Coye Belohlav, 1995, p 16). They assign roles and responsibilities, set standards, and define expectations. Within this style of management communication is one way, and go from management to resources. For example, when the manager speaks the employee listens and reacts. As defined above, the purpose of management is to direct resources toward a goal. In autocratic management, the manager sets all goals with specific deadlines to track progress. The autocratic manager is the principal of the decision making process. When a problem arise the resources report to the manager and the manager evaluates the options and makes the decision as to the direction and action that should be taken (Coye Belohlav, 1995). In terms of management feedback, the autocratic style of management calls for detailed instructions of changes that need to be made to the final product. Any rewards and recognition bestowed by autocratic managers are dictated by how well people follow directions. A perfect illustration of a working application of the autocratic style of management can be seen though the management employed in United States Military. IRAN S NUCLEAR AMBITIONS The origins of the Iranian nuclear programme are found in the Shah regime, and can be dated back to 1957 when the government signed a nuclear cooperation agreement initially with the United States (USA), and subsequently with Germany and France. Henceforth, the regime was able to develop a structure to support a programme, which produced knowledge and trained human capital. The arrival of the revolution halted Tehran s nuclear aspirations for two key reasons: the suspension of nuclear assistance from the West, and an alleged contradiction of the policy with the new regime. Later, however, the eight year war against Iraq, acted as a strong motivator for the regime to resume the programme. As Kayhan Barzegar stress, Iran s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Analysis Of The Book The Lottery Austin Walker Erickson English 12 20 November 2014 Blind Tradition Every society in the modern world has some form of tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation, and no matter what the custom is, people will continue to follow it due to the human nature to resist change. Even if there is an urge for change, it will likely be suppressed and seen as an act of rebellion as most people follow tradition simply because that s just how it is , and never seem to question why. Suzanne Collin s novel The Hunger Games and Shirley Jackson s short story The Lottery best illustrate this point by showing how a violent annual tradition affects a society and its innocent people. The Hunger Games has such uncanny similarities to The Lottery that it almost seems as if Collins used Jackson s story as a source of inspiration for her novel. Both The Hunger Games and The Lottery are extremely similar thematically in the sense that sheepishly following tradition can often be detrimental to society because it can lead to adverse consequences such as death, ignorance, and a society with no desire to change. Although both works are very much identical, the primary distinguishing characteristics are the setting and tone. The Lottery takes place in a small village with about three hundred inhabitants, while The Hunger Games involves a much larger post apocalyptic world consisting of thirteen districts known as Panem. Pakulski and Waters argued that social is dead, due to changes in economic and social structures along with adaptions in social identity and belonging (1996). This text will look at opportunity in Ireland in relation to social class (Village, 2014). Both education and the health system will be analysed for processes of inequalities between social classes in Ireland. The text will also look at how Ireland s liberal policies have a great effect on social disparities within society. The policies implemented by Irish governments encourage market participation, and have seen many institutions becoming privatised. Liberal states have also shown to have the lowest public expenditure according to Navarro and Shi (2001). This leads to inequality between social classes which will be elaborated on later in the text. Ireland has great income inequality, leading to a high contrast in relation to opportunity, meaning it s a good example for showing social class as a structure of inequality. Bourdieu also stated that cultural capital leads to inequalities in society. He argued that some forms of cultural capital are respected more than others. The concept of cultural capital can create class identity because individuals share similar backgrounds, tastes, accents etc. This creates group identities. It is because some forms of cultural capital are valued more than others that disparities arise. This is a case of how social class has changed in society but still survives (Social Theory Rewired, 2011). Now let s look towards the education system. In Ireland all ... • 17. How Estuaries Are Diverse And Rich Environments Essay Estuaries are incredibly diverse and rich environments. An estuary allows for diverse populations of fishes and other invertebrates because of the varying salinities and rich food sources (Keefer, Caudill, Peery, Moser, 2013). If an estuary is long enough there is a gradient as the fresh and salt water begin to mix ( At the river s end, 2005). This gradient provides protection for some species and breeding grounds for other species. The unique habitat is makes a great nursery for juvenile fishes (Fulford et al., 2014). Anadromous fishes spawn in freshwater and migrate to saltwater until they are sexually mature when they return to freshwater habitats to reproduce (Feyrer et al., 2015). The opposite is said for catadromous fishes which spawn in saltwater and migrate to freshwater until they are sexually mature when they return to saltwater to reproduce (Walsh, Gray, West, Williams, 2011). Salt marshes have high primary productivity (O Connor, Violin, Anton, Ladwig, Piehler, 2011). Much like estuaries, salt marshes have a variety of different salinities. The environment of a salt marsh is dependent on the tides and the weather. The upper marsh has lower salinity due to low tidal inflow, whereas the lower marsh salinity is maintained by daily tidal inflow. However, variables such as heavy rain can affect both the upper and lower tidal zones. Salt marshes can also experience dry seasons where the water experiences evaporation which increases the salinity of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Despite the population of settlers in New England and the Chesapeake region being mostly English emigrants, the regions evolved very differently. The difference in development between New England and the Chesapeake region occurred as a result of the differences in economies, religious views, and senses of unity. One cause for the differences between the regions was the differences in economies. In New England, the land of the settlements was divided more fairly, with everyone getting a fitting size of land and a share of the planting grounds and meadows (Doc D). The importance of fair pricing and distribution of property to New England settlers showed their sense of unity through the economy as they believed that economic unity was necessary to the success of the settlements. The New England settlers also valued religious unity as well. The structure of the towns around churches contributed to the theocracy of the settlements, uniting those with the the same Puritan views. He uses language that a blacksmith might use (23). His wife was a prostitute before he bought her freedom. For the cultured Roman, it would be repulsive to even take bread from her hand, let alone marry her (26). Some very sublime, perhaps debatable evidence of the thesis is presented by Petronius using a metaphor to express his view that a slave will always be a slave. If a slave is freed, he s still the same person, a low life. Petronius writes a scene where a boar wearing the hat of a freedman is brought into the dining room. It was supposed to be the dinner for the previous night but they quot;set him free quot; (29). However, a free boar is still a boar, and now he is dinner. The hat changes nothing. Petronius asserts his personal belief that slaves will be slaves no matter what changes on the outside, they will always be slaves on the inside. From the viewpoint of the aristocracy, merchants were generally considered to be of a very low class. • 24. Problems Associated With Road Traffic Injuries 1.2. Problem Statement In Makueni County a considerable burden of diseases is caused by injuries and other life threatening emergencies. Over two hundred patients with road traffic injuries are received in the health facilities for definitive treatment in a year as per the occurrence register at the County Ambulance Call Centre. The accidents are mainly along the major roads such as Nairobi Mombasa highway, Makindu Wote road and Wote Machakos roads. Although the patients who need emergency care are often handled by the bystanders who come to their aid, some of the victims die on the scene of the accident while others on transit to health facilities. Sometimes, the patients transferred to the health facilities cannot be managed satisfactorily and about a quarter of them require secondary urgent transfer to other health facilities either due lack of facilities or expertise. This often leads to a tremendous loss of time, waste of resources, lack of effectiveness; hence aggravating the injuries sustained resulting to complications or even death. The crash related complications often result to long hospital delays and hence exert pressure on hospital facilities. The research is therefore aimed at determining the status of pre hospital emergency care for persons experiencing road traffic injuries and will in turn help to improve the quality of emergency medical services, save life, avert disability and other complications resulting from these emergencies. 1.3. • 25. Unconditional Faith In Night By Elie Wiesel Elie Wiesel published Night in 1955. This book is his testimony to the awful situations he and millions of others had to encounter. Eliezer is a devout Jew at a young age. His conviction is flipped upside down when the Nazis enter his life, and he believes God walked out. He does not understand God s calmness during this tragedy. He demands answers but is met with silence. In Night, Wiesel uses Eliezer to depict how his unconditional faith is shaken down to nonexistence during the Holocaust. Before Eliezer s living nightmare reigns down, he is dedicated to his religion. At twelve years old, he spends his time strengthening his beliefs: By day I studied Talmud and by night I would run to the synagogue to weep over the destruction of the Temple ... Seeing his fellow Jews executed makes Eliezer feel his God died with them: Never shall I forget those moments that murdered my God and my soul and turned my dreams to ashes (Wiesel 34). Eliezer s own personal hell is eliminating all of what he stood for. While other prisoners talk about God, Eliezer turns his cheek: As for me, I had ceased to pray... I was not denying His existence, but I doubted his absolute justice (Wiesel 45). He does not question God s entity, but he does His morals. He thinks why pray when no one is listening. During one of the hangings, another prisoner inquires about God s presence. Eliezer thinks to himself, Where He is? This is where hanging here from this gallows (Wiesel 65). He refers to God being murdered again hanging there with the innocent. In Frunza s article, she illustrates, Is it not about God s silence and like Wiesel s other works, it is not about God s total absence or death. It is about humanity ... committing against one another, about the Jew and Israel s suffering (100). Eliezer needs to target his anger toward the ones carrying out the inhuman acts. God will sometimes answer prayers in ways that are not seen. He will not always respond to one s terms but to His own. That does not mean He is not there. During this period, many issues that had laid beneath the surface were brought out, it was a time for change. The second wave of feminism was established in the sixties, beginning when many women addressed the topics that angered them in the world, specifically pertaining to their own rights. The sixties brought up many feelings, feelings that had been buried or held back for some time, Betty Friedan has been one of those many people to address her feelings and put it out in the world. Friedan wrote a book named The Feminine Mystique, which has become an international bestseller and has sold over one million copies since its release in 1963(citation, from opening of book). Her book focused on the societal expectations that kept women in the home for many years. Friedan captured the anger and frustration many women felt, and offered ways for women to recapture their lives back. Betty Friedan s book, The Feminine Mystique, launched a conversation about women s roles in society, which started the second wave of feminism where society began to see women as self reliant, and capable to do the tasks men had been doing as long as time. • 28. The Negative Effects of Persistent Organic Pollutants As newly synthesized chemicals are constantly being created, whether for pharmaceutical purposes, agricultural growth or just for the use of commercial products, their adverse effects on the environment, especially in remote places, are often overlooked. Such has been seen with the production of persistent organic pollutants in the mid 1900s, a series of chemicals that were commonly manufactured for the intended uses in agriculture, yet have been found to negatively affect many other sectors in both nature and human health (EPA, 2009). Due to the grasshopping effect, the past production of persistent organic pollutants in North America, Europe and Asia have contributed to adverse health effects and biomagnification present in the Arctic regions today. Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) are chemical substances that resist degradation and continue to persist in the environment. Such chemicals pose a threat to humans, biodiversity and the environment due to their ability to bio accumulate in organisms as well as biologically magnify through levels of the food chain (UNIDO, n.d.). POPs are also classified as long range transport pollutants as they are able to travel far distances from the source of contamination by natural means such as water, wind and atmospheric cycles. For this reason, such pollutants are being found in the Arctic, despite these regions not being the source of producing such chemical contaminants (Ma, et al, 2011). Based on the careers of the parents, one being a doctor and the other being a lawyer, I can assume that this is an upper middle class family. For the first time, in this show we see the children being a bit rebellious, and less submissive to the authority of their parents. It appears that both parents share equal authority, and an argument can be made that the mother is more authoritative then the father in this show, as the father seems to take more of a relaxed comical approach to confrontations with his children. This show does correlate with the real culture of the decade, as for the first time African American s are able to hold high level jobs such as the ones that both parents in this show have. • 37. Plasmid Transformation Of E. Coli Plasmid transformation of E. coli using pVIB Savannah Jacobs April 4th, 2016 BIO 335 Spring 2016 Dr. Koester Abstract Since bacteria are haploid, asexually reproducing organisms it is important for these organisms to be able to accept genetic variability into their genome. A process called transformation, which involves absorbing small segments of DNA from deceased organisms in the natural world, does this. Transformation can also be mimicked in the laboratory using plasmid. Plasmids are small segments of DNA that occur in bacteria that allow us to regulate if transformation was successful. We attempted transformation of E. coli cells using plasmid called pVIB, which allows for luminescence and resistance to the antibiotic ampicillin, from Vibrio fischeri, however, we did not achieve a successful transformation. Introduction Some organisms, such as bacteria, have the ability to transform into a new form by picking up small segments of DNA from other organisms. This process is known as transformation and happens quite often in nature. Quite often organisms die and release their DNA into aqueous environments. The DNA is broken down but it is a while before it is fully destroyed allowing for bacteria cells and other organisms to transform their own DNA using the broken down segments from the deceased organism (Dodd). Transformation is an extremely important step in increasing genetic variation in organisms that reproduce asexually, allowing for them to make both ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, internal insulation has similar impact in keeping the building conditioned but the external surface remains vulnerable to water and moisture which lead to corrosion in the welding parts, though the containers are initially specially epoxy paint treated in order to resist humidity in ports and though ocean conditions. Introduction This report is an extension of the proposed sand and activated charcoal water filtration system for Engineers without Borders to adapt in Mayukwayukwa. The household based, point of use system, is advantageous for its usability, cost efficiency, and lack of ongoing energy requirements however specific measures relating to economic, social and environmental sustainability have been identified to increase beneficial outcomes. Similarly, measures have been examined to adapt to the growing concern of climate change, and ensure long term suitability. Sustainability measures When considering the project as a whole, each aspect has been selected in light of its appropriateness in Mayukwayukwa. Although plastic is not environmentally sustainable, its advantages; economic feasibility, easy transportation, and a lifespan of over 50 years outweigh this (EPA, 2007). Similarly to plastic, although PVC is unsustainable, it is most cost efficient. Charcoal is to be collected directly from the wood based fires citizens use for cooking, thereby recycling a waste product. Although emissions from burning wood are not ecologically ideal, cooking practices are unlikely to change in the short term considering limited alternatives, and thus charcoal is considered as economically and socially efficient. • 44. The Importance Of Building A Monument Although building a statue or memorial seems simple you think of something you want to build or memorialize, you choose a location, you design it, and then of course, you build it. However, the actual process proves to be more controversial and painstaking. The difficulties when it comes to building a statue or monument should arise prior to building the actual monument. The most critical stages of development are throughout the design and planning process. This is due to the many factors that have to go into consideration when designing a monument the overall purpose of the monument, the design of the monument, and choosing the right location and position of the monument all while considering ways to strengthen the aura and draw in more visitors. The main purpose of a monument is by far the factor that should receive the utmost consideration and development. This is because the other stages of development and design revolve around the purpose of the monument. Before you can decide what a monument will look like, you must know what you want to accomplish with the monument along with the feelings you wish to inspire in visitors. For example, if you wanted to portray a soldier s courage and strength through a statue, you may not want to build a 5 foot tall, flimsy aluminum statue of a smiling soldier with open arms, ready to embrace a hug. The significance of a monumental purpose was highlighted in Christine Musser s Preserving Memory: National Holocaust Memorial Museum ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Similarities Between As I Lay Dying And For Whom The Bell... In their very nature, we can see that these two novels vary greatly in purpose, structure, and the way that they convey their messages. Although this is true, they make up for this when we examine the motives of the authors and certain ways that the authors convey messages. Ernest Hemingway and William Faulkner grew up and developed their opinions in far different ways. Hemingway was heavily affected by his experiences in World War I and the Spanish Civil War. These events greatly influenced Hemingway s ideas about war in For Whom the Bell Tolls (5). Conversely, Faulkner grew up in the deep south of Mississippi, and his life in the south heavily influenced his writing of As I Lay Dying (4). The two authors and their stories may vary, but these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the most central character relationships in both surrounds hostility between characters that should otherwise be friends. In As I Lay Dying, this situation is shown through the relationship between Jewel and Darl, and also through the relationship between Anse and Addie. In For Whom the Bell Tolls, we see a similar relationship between Pablo and Robert Jordan. The hostility that these character have for one another is rooted in a lack of trust. Addie is hostile to Anse because she believes that Anse manipulated her into having children, without truly loving her. Darl is hostile to Jewel because Jewel was Addie s favorite child, and Darl believes that Jewel was unfairly given love (so he chooses not to trust Jewel). Robert Jordan lacks trust for Pablo because he believes that Pablo will betray the him and the Republic. This hostility between characters is also similar in the fact the we do not always know the reasoning or the outcome of hostility. For the entire first half of the novel, we do not know why Addie acted the way that she did, and for the same reason, why Darl treated Jewel the way that he did. We will never know how much Robert Jordan s hostility for Pablo affected the story. Perhaps Robert Jordan would have gone on to live a happy life had he not disrupted the flow of the group. The similar way in which hostility between characters is depicted shows a great similarity between the novels, but we can also see a great contrast in the way love is shown. The love that Maria and Robert Jordan have in For Whom the Bell Tolls is depicted as very free and open, while Addie refuses to love anyone but Jewel in her family, because she was betrayed and Anse only said, and did not show, that he loved her. This contrast might be shown as a difference, but the opposite appears to be true. The love that Maria and Robert have is really ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

That says a very well known Persian verse, written on one of the walls of the Public Auditorium of Lal Quila (Red Fort), in Old Delhi. They say India changes your state of mind and soul. India has this impact through its inhabitants, music, traditional dances and its marvelous monuments. Nobody can resist a warming welcoming and `spicy country which smoothly seduces you. Germany s population (82 million people), is the largest population in the European Union, although the population has declined in the past decade by 2 million people. On the German flag, the colours red, black and yellow all represent something. The first stripe, (black) is meant to represent determination. The second stripe (red) represents many concepts such as hardiness, bravery, strength and valour. The last horizontal stripe (gold/yellow) it represents Generosity. Political History of Germany In 1848, Germany was divided into 39 separate states that had experienced a number of revolutions in many parts of the country. The revolutionaries tried to force their rulers to allow greater political freedom and tried to unify the separate states into one country. By 1849 the revolutionaries had been ceased across Germany and kings and princes regained their power. Liberal nationalists all over Germany now saw the chance to create a new united Germany. These liberal national Politicians met in Frankfurt at the new preliminary parliament (vorparliment) to make arrangements for setting up the new constitutional law. Due to this, the economy had experienced significant changes in the1850s and 1860s. • 48. Somalia And Its Effects On Somalia I don t recognize my people anymore. I feel Somalia is lost. There is no Somalia. It is just a name (Abdi, 2016) . Over the past 20 years Somalia as a country has been in turmoil and constant fighting. Today s Somalia is still a harsh environment and the people are unforgiving as they too are trying to survive this oasis of violence. Considering Somalia in the news now we see after years of fighting and trying to support this country with food, water, and security it has progressed but not quickly. It has been a battle for any support to the country essentially taking two steps forward and one step back. In 2012 a new internationally backed government was installed: Somalia has shown progression but is still being hindered by an Al Qaeda aligned group, Al Shabaab. Because of this newly backed government Somalia had their first elected president since 1967. Due to Hassan Sheikh Mohamud winning the popular vote we can see the country is setting stones to become politically stable. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud had made plans but shelved next Presidential election due to lack of security in and infrastructure (Somalia Country profile, 2016). I asses that he could potentially with these new powers behind him change the way the country is headed for the better. Without more support from the internationally backed government the president will only be able to do so much for his people and the country. There were two that were geared toward men; Viagra, and old spice hair product for men. Tommiecopper was another commercial. It was geared to those who are physically active and may need a knee support due to pain. Lastly, there were two commercials that geared to men and women who are older. These commercial were on funeral advertising and mortgage reversals. Ospemifene is an oral medication indicated for the treatment of dyspareunia. This is encountered by some women, more often in those who are post menopausal. It is supposed to help with sex after menopause. Ensure was expressing the many ways it can help with Nutrition, Lifestyle change, and Fitness. It promotes positive, healthy choices in older women so that it can help you improve your health and maybe even discover your best self. KY ultra gel is for dryness for women. Vaginal dryness occurs most often during perimenopause and menopause. • 50. Robinson Voyage Thesis For the last two weeks in class we have touched upon the topic of colonizing.we come to this topic point by reading four different text to the virginian voyage , robinson crusoe , the white man,s burden , and the sacred mission of civilization . So far we have been asked to pick one of the following text of class to concentrate on and to answer three questions that was given to us. In which i pick to the virginian voyage by michael drayton to focus on. The questions given was 1.) how do colonizers see themselves? , 2.) how do the colonizer see their mission in colonizing the new world? , 3.) how do colonizers think that the colonized see them? . So i belive that this poem is most fitted to answer those questions. The first question ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To answer this the author told readers that the colonizers believes that the land would be perfect , so they are going to claim it. For example in the fourth stanza it states to get the peale and gold ro in other words its saying they want to win the prizes/resources of the new land. And the next part after this it says where nature hath in store fowle, venison, and fish and the fruitfull st soyle... Three harvests more all greater than you wish which is saying that they belive that there s going to be more food and good weather for harvest. Another example to show that the colonizer believed it was going to be a perfect land was in stanza nine it s where as the lushious smell of that delicious land , above the seas that flowers, the cleere wind throwes, your hearts to swell approaching the deare stand. to sum that up he believes that the land will have nice weather and beautiful land fulled with flower. And with all of this they belive once they get there its all theirs, which leads us to the third question. Third question that was given to us was how do the colonizers think that the colonized see them? . I claimed that the colonized are not there but the people from their old country are. I claim this because they think no one is there at all. For example whose reading shall inflame men to seeks fame this is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Neat People Vs Sloppy People Analysis One may say that a neat person cleans every second of the day while a sloppy person doesn t clean up after themselves but in the article we will differentiate between the two. In the essay Neat People vs. Sloppy People, by Dave Barry he has his own opinion on the two. In the essay he says Neat people are lazier and meaner than sloppy people , I agree with that because I am a very neat person but I am not lazy. I like my room to be cleaned a certain way and the bathroom, cleaned the certain way because if it isn t cleaned the way I clean it will make me feel like it wasn t cleaned to its full potential. If I had a long day from school and work I might brush off cleaning for that day but that doesn t mean I am lazier than anyone else. If I don t have time to clean my room and the bathroom I might get upset because it throws off my whole schedule and cleaning routine but I am ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their sloppiness is merely the unfortunate consequence of their extreme moral rectitude. Sloppy people carry in their mind s eye a heavenly vision, a precise plan, that is so stupendous, so perfect, it can t be achieved in this world or the next. This opinion I might has to disagree because their is different definitions for the word sloppy. The definition I know for sloppy is a person who is careless and unsystematic; excessively casual. When I hear those words you think of someone who is messy and is careless or even carefree about the world around them and how they present themselves. I understand what the author thinks about sloppy people but the opinion that he is saying I don t think that is the correct term to use for his opinion I believe the term that he sound of used was open minded thinkers because they have a lot of thoughts and creativity but that the same time their ideas and their thoughts are so scattered around in others point of views it might look sloppy, unorganized or even ... Through each story he picks a specific aspect of the Italian imperfect to poke fun at and highlight the ridiculousness or hypocrisy of. One topic he often highlights is religion and how arbitrary it was at this time in Italy, especially during the time of the black plague. Two of these stories that discuss religion are the First Day First story and the Third Day First Story. In the story of Ser Cepparello, the sinner was a citizen and the man of the church was the naive fool while in the story of Masetto, the sinners were the Nuns while the person who was acting naive to an extent was the citizen. The priest Ser Cepparello spoke to was insane for believing that any man at the time almost never sinned and was, as much a virgin today as when [he] came forth from [his] mama s body (Boccaccio 23). Masetto, on the other hand knew exactly what he was doing when he went to the convent to garden, but at the same time, the nuns could have chosen not to break their vow and to stay pure and married to God instead of giving in and having unsolicited (to them at least) sex with him.
