HIV Epidemic Terrence Higgins Trust
National strategies
Terrence Higgins Trust
At the beginning of the HIV epidemic the Terrence Higgins trust was formed in the 1980 s. It is a
national charity, however it began as a small charity. The Terrence Higgins trust provides a range of
different services for those who suffer from HIV, it is the leading HIV and sexual health charity within
the UK. In order to help prevent the disease the Terrence Higgins trust work to make it more known to
people nationally, this is important as it will help change the stigma involving HIV, many other disease
also have national charities who help to provide awareness about them.
This strategy is successful because it helps those who are suffering from HIV avoid being
discriminated against which will make them feel more comfortable with getting treatment and seeking
out advice on how to cope with their disease. It also educates people about HIV which will also help
prevent the disease. Lastly it raises awareness for the disease and makes people more aware of how it
can be contracted and avoids stereotyping.

Vegetarianism In Tibetan Buddhism
Tibetan Buddhism, a Mahayana sect, is a unique exception in strictly following the vegetarian diet, as
Tibetan Buddhism encourages vegetarianism despite most communities being located on the Qing hai
Tibetan Plateau (Rinpoche) The Qing hai plateau is most likely the largest and highest area ever to
exist on Earth, with an average elevation of 16,400 feet (Foggin). This has led to few constructions of
transportation services, virtually causing the region to be excluded from vegetation trade.
Furthermore, lack of oxygen due to high elevation and severe permafrost demolish the prospect of any
suitable condition coming about for growing numerous crops. To cope with these circumstances,
Tibetan Buddhists strive on a vegetable and grain diet, consuming a restricted amount of meat if
natural conditions limit their main food sources (Rinpoche). In this way, they clearly demonstrate their
compassion towards animal life by holding a strong resolve to consume only non beings and to eat
meat only if of utmost necessity, regardless of limited vegetation supply. On the bases of ahimsa and
compassion, Tibetan Buddhism perpetuates the moral responsibility and spiritual respect humans
should hold towards nonhumans.
Contrary to the disheartening truth that animal agriculture and animal slaughter are inescapably
intertwined, the vegetarian diet is not a required regimen in all Buddhist schools of thought. Buddha
Gautama characterized Buddhism as a free religion, aware that forbidding meat

Is Macbeth Relevant Today
Society defines a hero as a valiant figure whom many admire due to their relatable, yet seemingly just
actions. William Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Macbeth, tells the story of Macbeth, a lord who
showed his bravery in battle and whom many look up to as a role model. However, it is through his
ambition and need for power that his morals are put into question, and result in his downfall. Although
tragic, Macbeths rise and fall is similar to many influential people of modern society. One notable
example is actor and comedian Bill Cosby. A man many grew up with, and felt was not only a father
on screen, but in the hearts of many. Recently, Cosby has become the face of yet another scandal. By
his actions becoming public, Cosby is now seeing his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In William Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Macbeth, Macbeth s need for power is reflected by his
actions when he realizes King Duncan stands in his way of the throne. It is then, that Macbeth sets
forth to murder the King out of his own selfish will. Macbeth seems hesitant to go through with his
intensions at first, though ultimately the bell invites [him]... for it is a knell that summons [Duncan] to
heaven, or to hell (II, i, 62 64). Furthermore, Bill Cosby s actions also reflect his wants and needs. In
the article Bill Cosby raped me. Why did it take 30 years for people to believe my story? Barbara
Bowman expresses Cosby s need of self power. In the article Bowman makes a valid point that the
entertainment world is rife with famous men who use their power to victimize ... young women who
look up to them (Bowman). Being that many admired Cosby by watching him on TV, he used his
power for his own self centered satisfaction. Since Cosby knew he could lure women due to his fame,
he set forth to sexually assault those who had admired him. Both Cosby and Macbeth s decisions
reflect their ultimate needs. In both cases they made unethical decisions that changed the way people

Terri Schiavo´s Life Story
In the early months of 2005, Terri Schiavo s life story, involving her persistent vegetative state (PVS)
captured the worldwide spotlight and brought up controversial issues surrounding guardian care of the
patient, as well as the overall decisions made by Congress. The government involvement in her case
impeded any decisions the family and spouse could properly address for the well being of Schiavo
(Montero 166). The governmental court system in Terri Schiavo s case behaved immorally in regard to
the eventual removal of her feeding tube. In 1990, Schiavo suddenly collapsed in her house at the age
of 26. Oxygen was depleted to her brain for several minutes as she lay unconscious on the ground.
The cause of her collapse sent both her doctors and nurses into disarray because there was not a
specific pinpoint reason for her collapse. Her husband, Michael Schiavo, suspected the collapse was
due to a cardiac arrest from a potassium imbalance due to her suspected bulimia. Her parents, Bob and
Mary Schindler, believed her fall was rendered by strangulation from Michael Schiavo, which caused
the depletion of oxygen to her brain. Once admitted into the hospital, further examinations concurred
that she did not suffer any heart or strangulation injuries. Once in the hospital, doctors and nurses
examined Terri and concluded she was in a coma, which then would evolve into a vegetative state
(Montero 167). Patients will normally enter into a coma, which resembles a sleep state of

Bronislaw Malinowski Research Paper
There have been many scholars that have had different views on rituals and why people partake in
them. One of the most renowned English Functionalist had the idea of rituals being performed because
of a psychological reason. Bronislaw Malinowski proposed that humans participated in rituals
whenever they were in danger. He suggested that rituals were performed as a mean to help people deal
with anxiety. Bronislaw Malinowski was lead to believe that uneducated cultures did not understand
how to cope with everyday problems so they performed rituals instead. In the reading, Bronislaw
Malinowski uses The Trobriand Islanders as an example of his theory. The islanders would take long
journeys for trading purposes. The islanders would sail on dangers seas with wooden canoes. To make

He saw rituals as a way for people of a society to preserve their unity with one another. Emile
Durkheim s theory was that while people were partaking in rituals they would put aside their self
centered tendencies and become a part of their society. He believed that rituals would bring such a
powerful bond between the participants. The rituals needed to continue to be performed to keep the
bond alive. Emile Durkheim inspired A.R Radcliffe Brown who agreed with his theories. There are
three different categories that Anthropologist place people who perform rituals in. These categories
are, Category A which is Shamans; Category B which is Priest; and Category C which is Prophets.
The phrase shaman comes from the language of a Siberian group. The translation of it is one who is
excited or moved. The most well known culture that has shamans in them are the Native American
Indians. Native American tribes are not the only cultures that have them. In South American shamans
are common. The most common place to find shamans are in

Thread And Balance By Timothy Tapestry
Thread and Balance
In a small town many years ago, the Tapestry family walked to work enjoying the simple pleasures
that the morning offered. Timothy Tapestry was a tall man with blond hair and a subdued face. He had
lived in this town his whole life, and just like any other morning, he gazed happily at the hills in the
distance. Ever since he was young, Timothy had marveled at how the sun lit up those hills in the
morning, and since he was a creature of habit, he did the same today.
Past his thoughts, and in a world of her own, Adeline Tapestry walked with her husband to work. She
too enjoyed the morning, but for reasons other than its routine. Adeline had an easy smile, and

Even as they said yes, a cloud of doubt covered their hearts, because they knew full well that three
days was not enough time to make these items. However, they had already agreed to the task. So they
took the slip of paper containing the king and queen s measurements.
With these deadlines in mind, the king began. We bid you farewell. He then raised his hand to wave
goodbye, and the royal parade began to leave. A mixture of joy and anxiety rushed through Timothy
and Adeline as the king and queen left. For although the Tapestrys were well known for their quality
products, it always took them a while to actually fabricate their orders. They would have to work
quickly, and precisely to overcome their time constraints.
Once the crowd had finally dispersed, the Tapestrys let themselves into their shop. It was a homey
place that told comforting stories through its exposed beams, and crackling fireplace. Immediately
they began to pull out different fabrics, and patterns trying to decide what would best suit King
Leonardo, and his wife Queen Alisha. Ideas were shared and compromises made, so that in the end it
was decided that Timothy would make the king s coat, while Adeline would make the queen s. While

Market Pricing Essay
Executive Summary
Price is said to be the biggest factor in the marketing mix. If the price is not right, then the product will
not sell. Consumers feel that they have to get something back, such as an intrinsic value from the
products. Pricing is affixed with many different variables such as the flexibility of price, geographic
term, discounts and price levels over the product cycle. A marketing manager must also consider what
type of pricing objective to use. For this paper, I have made myself the new marketing manager of
Foster Farms Poultry Products.

This increase is from the kickoff to barbecue season landing us all the way into the holiday season. I
also see an increase in sales for the company. People want to eat healthier and chicken by far is the
healthiest meat of them all.
Our prices also remain constant because of our delivery system. We do not hire outside contractors
and deploy the very best chain management system available. Transportation is critical for this
company. This is because not only are the products perishable, but we feel the need to get the products
to stores faster so they themselves can make profit.
Since our product turnover ratio is high, we make money in the long run. We can sell our chicken at
fifty cents per pound and still turn profit in the long run. This is done because we produce in such
surpluses. This is because of our locality, the fact that we practically do everything from hatching the
chickens to creating our own feed. Granted we are not a national company, but from an investor s
point of view, Foster Farms is said to be a good investment.
Closing
In closing, the sky is the limit for Foster Farms. We have to keep marketing and advertising our
products throughout the state. Since its initiation, Foster Farms has become a family household name
and we need to maintain that name. People love our chicken because they are pure to honest goodness,
(http://fosterfarms.com/). We also strive at Foster Farms to always adhere to

Cyber Warfare Between The United States And Russia
Drawing from authors like Jason Andress who is an academic teacher and a professional security
expert, the book Cyber Warfare states that The U.S. military does not have a definition for cyber
warfare today (53). While this work was published in 2014, it is still a fair assessment into today.
According to the CCDCOE, again on their webpage Cyber Definitions, cyber warfare as agreed
between The United States and Russia is defined as cyber attacks that are authorized by state actors
against cyber infrastructure in conjunction with government campaign. The two nations also define
cyber attacks in the same agreement to mean an offensive use of a cyber weapon intended to hard
designated target. Finally, the two nations define cyber ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beyond the problem of defining what cyberwarfare is, for all parties involved, comes the problems of
attributing if an attack was state sponsored or not. Crimes performed by non state actors certainly
require a response that is different than those which other nations were complicit in carrying out. This
means cyber space attacks, which are the basis of cyberwarfare, do not make it easy to determine who
the perpetrators of such attacks are. Even in cases where the trail of breadcrumbs leads right back to
the perpetrators, there are real challenges in many forms to be dealt with. Challenges like legally
charging, apprehending, and holding accountable those involved in a practical manner. Challenges like
determining rather it was an action under official orders or rogue attacks. Certainly the anonymity
cyberspace provides for actors adds a difficult level to deal with when facing the challenges of
keeping us well prepared against the threat. How do you stop getting hit in any conflict if you are
unsure of who is hitting you? Until the United States as a whole is more capable of nailing down the
ability to track such information with the ability to prove such findings, there is little to deter those
hostile to the United States from making those challenges hard to be well prepared for.
Another factor worth discussing is the concept of being cyber

The Stock Market Crash Of 1929, By Brenda Lange
On October 29, 1929, America experienced the most calamitous stock market crash in its history.
Although some tried to prevent the crash from getting worse, the fear and panic that so many
Americans felt, caused them to make a horrible situation even worse. The 1929 stock market crash
affected America in several ways, causing America to go from a time of prosperity, to a time of strife,
leading Americans to lose billions of dollars and also leading to an increase in homelessness and
unemployment rates, leaving America devastated.
Before the market crash, many people were happy and optimistic about the future. Brenda Lange,
author of The Stock Market Crash of 1929, wrote that the time before the crash was a time of
optimism and hope, and the future looked promising. (Lange 12), referring to how people had nothing
to worry about. With a majority of people believing that nothing bad would happen, the small signs of
the future crash went unnoticed, leading to a mass panic when the market first went down, which was
a partial cause of the October 29th crash. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Antisemitism In Poland
The country of Poland in central Europe has a long history with the Jewish people. Jewish history in
Poland dates all of the way back to the tenth century when Jewish immigrants first arrived. They
immigrated from countries such as Germany, Romania, and the Byzantine Empire. Many of the
Jewish immigrants were tradesmen, merchants, and small business owners. They also introduced their
own language called Yiddish to Poland. Many Jews came to Poland in the Middle Ages to escape
persecution during the crusades (Crowe 69). Jews came to Poland because they were more accepted in
Poland than anywhere else. According to Crowe, in 1264 Prince Boleslaw the Pius issued the Statute
of Kalisz (69). This statute put the Jews under the Prince s protection ... Show more content on

Piłsudsk was not anti semitic. In fact he had no anti jewish tendencies and refrained from using
antisemitism as an instrument for furthering political and socioeconomic policies (Gutman 1154).
Piłsudski tried to change attitudes towards the Jews and improve their condition. However, not a
whole lot of progress was made because the Great Depression hit Poland in the 1930 s and the
situation for Jews started to go downhill again because of it. As Crowe states, the depression and the
weakening of Poland s democratic institutions hurt the Jews economic status and political influence
(165). Many Pole s wanted Jewish people out of the government. The events of the depression as well
as Józef Piłsudski s death in 1935 gave these people the chance they wanted to get rid of Jews. After
Piłsudski died it made way for his successors to adopt a new political movement in which they
tightened relations with Nazi Germany and adopted a clear anti Jewish policy (Gutman 1154). they did
this because they wanted Poland to be strong a cohesive. From their perspective, in order for the
government to be strong and cohesive it means that they need to get all Jews out of the government
and certain professions. One way they tried to rid Jews of the country is by establishing an anti Jewish
boycott of all Jewish businesses. However, some people thought that this was not severe enough so
they took to more violent ways of extracting the Jewish population. They would have anti Jewish riots
and they would remove Jews from their jobs to try to get them to emigrate out of Poland. The
government also placed numerus clausus restrictions on University students (165) so the enrollment of
Jews in universities dropped from 20.4% in 1928 1929 to 9.9% in 1937 1938 (Crowe 165). The
students that did still attend universities had to sit in special designated seats and were

The Enron Corporation Scandal
IDENTIFY THE ACCOUNTING PRACTICES THAT WERE ASSOCIATED WITH THE
ACCOUNTING SCANDAL.
The Enron Corporation failures made world headlines for many reasons ranging from greed from its
executives, the alleged malpractice and criminal behaviours, and its quick and disastrous collapse. The
most critical factor in Enron s melt down was the use of creative and manipulative accounting
practices to distort reported profitability and indebtedness that befell the corporation (A. Holt and T.
Eccles, 2002) The accounting practices involved in this case are the revenue recognition criteria
adopted by Enron Corporation, Market to Market strategies, the use of Special Purpose Entities,
booking to cost as assets and the corporate governance practices.
Revenue Recognition Mark to market and Merchant Model Revenue is the gross inflow of economic
benefits (cash, receivables, other assets) arising from the ordinary operating activities of an entity
(such as sales of goods, sales of services, interest, royalties, and dividends). [IAS 18.7]. Revenue

of revenue in the income statement when it is probable that any future economic benefit associated
with the item of revenue will flow to the entity, and the amount of revenue can be measured with
reliability.
Enron used revenues as its primary financial objective, performance driver and a measure of success.

How Water Shapes Michigan

geographically and how much water has shaped the state is shocking. Water has shaped the land of
Michigan through erosion, deposition, and transportation. Examples of these include rivers, glaciers,
and human influences.
The water cycle is essential to the water systems surrounding Michigan. Shown on the picture, the
water cycle has several steps, but the main processes are evaporation, condensation, and precipitation.

Rhetorical Analysis Of Blood, Toil, Tears, And Sweat
On May 13th, 1940, newly elected Prime Minister Winston Churchill delivered a historic speech titled
Blood, Toil, Tears, and Sweat . He discusses the necessity of an empowered Great Britain in the
shadow of World War II; as well as his confidence within the strength of the British people. This
speech s lasting impact was reinforced by it s usage of the three appeals: ethos, logos, and pathos.
These appeals address the ethical, logical, and emotional ideas and undertones within a piece.
Churchill s iconic speech truly encapsulates these three appeals within every word.
Ethos is considered to be the ethical aspect of a piece. In other words: is the information and speaker
reputable and trustworthy? This appeal is clearly demonstrated within Blood, Toil, Tears, and Sweat .
For example, Churchill states
In this crisis I hope I may be pardoned if I do not address the House at any length today. I hope that

He demonstrates a sense of respect for those listening to his word and those who he works with, which

line Let that be realized; no survival for the British Empire, no survival for all that the British Empire
has stood for (Churchill). Churchill frankly states that without action, the British Empire and its values
will crumble in the face of Nazi Germany. This clear and conscience delivery of Britain s fate is

Aviation And Transportation Security Administration (TSA)
There hardly comes a time when Congress and Senate can unanimously agree to a bill to pass.
Congress created the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the Senate voted unanimously
to federalize airport security. Furthermore, this immediate action of unanimous votes was due to the
terrorist attacks of 9/11. Additionally, this quickly led to the Aviation and Transportation Act. This act
was immediately placed, and led to the establishment of the TSA as an Agency by George W. Bush in
the fight against terrorist attacks on the U.S. On November 2001, the new agency known as TSA was

then this should be implemented. Inconveniencing others is not an excuse if their safety is the reason
the agency was created to start with. Ben Gurion International Airport does require more overall

INTRODUCTION
A vitamin so named in 1913 by political biochemist C. Funk is defined to be any of a number if
unrelated, complex organic substances found variously in most foods, or sometimes synthesized in the
body, and essential, in small amounts for the regulation of the metabolism and normal growth and
functioning of the body. (Webster s New World College Dictionary, 4th Edition) We often obtain the
substantial amount of Vitamin C through our diets since the body is unstable to synthesize and
actually produce Vitamin C on its own. Vitamin C also known as Ascorbic acid is a colorless,
crystalline, water soluble vitamin, found in many foods especially citrus fruits, vegetables, and rose
hips; its required for proper nutrition and metabolism, and a deficiency produces scurvy. (Webster s
New World College Dictionary, 4th Edition) If an individual does not have a sufficient amount of
Vitamin C in their bloodstream it often leads to a slow recovery for a simple cold, and for the
formation of proteins (collagen) which then creates skin, cartilage, tendons, ligaments and blood
vessels. You need vitamin C for the growth and repair of tissues, healing of wounds, and for repairing
and maintaining bones and teeth. (http://umm.edu/health/medical/altmed/supplement/vitamin c

How Did Diana Contribute To The Ancient World
One way Diana contributed to the Ancient world was through women. Diana was the Goddess of
babies and their mothers, and she was invoked by them. Women would pray to her for a child, and
then, once pregnant, they would they pray for an easy delivery. This form of worship is attested in
finds of votives statuettes in her sanctuary in the nemus of Aricinum as well as in Ancient sources
(crystalinks). Diana became the goddess of babies and their mothers by devoting herself never to
marry.
Another way Diana contributed to the Ancient world was by devoting herself to never marry. She was
not the only virgin goddess though. Athena and Hestia are some others. Diana was worshipped in her
temple in Ephesus, and you can even see some of her worship in

Stylistics By Robert Frost
STYLISTIC ANALYSIS IN POEM ENTITLED
STOPPING BY WOODS ON A SNOWY EVENING
BY ROBERT
I. Introduction
The word stylistics is derived from style. Stylistics is a branch of Linguistics which deals
with different styles. It refers to the study of appropriate use of words or language in a sentence
or writing. Widdowson (1975, p 3) defines stylistics as the study of literary discourse from a
linguistic orientation‖. He added by saying that stylistics is the link between literary criticism and
linguistics. And has (as yet at least) no independent branch of its own. He also says that stylistics
involves both literary criticism and linguistics, as its morphological construction suggests: the
style is relating it to the former or shape and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The writer #39;s style

Robert Frost in his poem is being observed in this study.
Materials and Methods
I.1 Materials
The material was taken in Robert Frost s poem entitled Stopping by Woods on a Snowy
Evening . Robert Frost (1874 1964) Robert Frost, an American poet, was born in San Francisco,
California. He is a well known modern poet. He is generally regarded as a poet, teacher, and a
man of wisdom. He had a profound knowledge of literature, history, science and philosophy.
Frost is a philosophical poet from the start.
His aim was not writing poems for charming rustic but philosophical anxiety, stoical sadness
which were obvious in his later work. Philosophical poetry deals with questions about life, death
and man #39;s destiny in the universe. Frost also raises such questions though his answers are vague
and often equivocal (Khan, Raffique and Saddique, 2014). quot;Stopping by Woods on a Snowy

A New Methodology For Monitoring Using Smartphones Essay
Recent studies have attempted to automate monitoring progress of construction projects. Typical
practice for progress tracking mostly depends on supervisors daily or weekly reports, which requires
Intensive manual data collection. This paper presents a new methodology for monitoring using
smartphones. This is done by proposing newly developed applications called BIM Track and BIM
Phase using Building Information Modelling. Building Information Models usage rapidly enlarged in
the past years. BIM track is an android application that the end user can use to update the activities
progress from a remote location. This data is used to update the project s 5D model enhanced with
different cost parameters such as earned value and planned value. BIM Phase application is a mobile
Augmented Reality (AR) application that is utilized during construction phase through implementing
a 4D model integrated with an augmented 5D video. This video presents the 5D model updated from
the BIM Track . A case study is presented to demonstrate the uses of the proposed application to track
construction projects. Introduction Nowadays, Mobile hand held devices are being used massively in
different applications. Portability and accessibility granted the mobile hand held devices such as
smartphones and computer tablets a great advantage that attempt recent studies to automate the
process of construction site monitoring. Developing a BIM model for a project contributes to projects

Love As A Love Poem
It is a love poem that is written in an unusual form of dialogue. This dialogue between the lovers adds
personality to the poem. The lovers however know one another and have a shared history. As he still
attempts to amaze the woman even after she has criticized him. It is vague whether the poet is openly
communicating with her or is it only a conversation that is occurring in his mind. However, I will
assume that it is a conversation that is a reality and that the poet is communicating directly with the
woman as the poem indicates in the first stanza She says : (Line2) and She insists (Line4) also
mentioned in the final stanza She says (Line8). Therefore, this suggests that they are communicating
with each other. As the poet writes this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This suggests that the poet is writing from his heart and feelings which characterizes the poem as
sincere and genuine. The poet attempts to redeem himself after the woman has criticized him in the
first stanza. However, he would have desired to remain with the technique of a metaphoric dialogue.
The poet however uses a different representation in this stanza as the woman would prefer a more
literal dialogue of his love as she insists Then you d better think twice (Line4). The woman is aware
that the poet is capable of better quality writing. This indicates that they have a shared history. It
suggests that the woman motivates the poet to write better (Line 4) and also she acts as inspiration for
the poet. The first and second stanzas complement each other. The fact that the poet uses a different
dialogue technique in the second stanza reveals his love for this woman. The poet is willing to
terminate his own writing technique for her So I write (Line5). He would adjust the dialogue of the
poem if it were to make the woman delighted and captivated. This is the reason it is a love poem,
despite it being written in an unconventional dialogue. The poet would express his love through his
poem in order to impress the

Psycho Parlour Scene
Parlour Scene Analysis In the 1960 horror Psycho , a lot is revealed to the audience about the
characters in the parlour scene. It is a crucial scene in the film due to the fact it is where the audience
starts to see Norman s true intentions. Normally, the baddie is portrayed as harsh and unlikeable,
however Norman comes across as friendly and an overall likeable person. However, during this scene
we start to see a different side to Norman that suggests he may have ulterior motives. In this scene, the
lighting is very telling about the characters. The only light source in the scene comes from a lamp
which Marion sits next to and, as seen in the screenshot above, illuminates her face. This use of
lighting suggests how Marion is overall ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When we see Norman at this point, the large birds of prey on the wall seem to loom over him, and we
are given the impression that his mother too looms over and shadows him and that he feels threatened
by her. The audience does start to sympathise with Norman at this point, but, because of the shadow
that is across his face, the possibility that he is a dark and sinister character stays there and we still feel
threatened by him. Also, at this stage in Norman and Marion s conversation, the shot of Norman goes
from a medium close up to a close up, as seen below. This has been done so that the audience can
closely see Norman s emotions and the way he feels about his mother s situation. The way the shot is
closer when it cuts back to Norman gives the scene an urgent feeling and combined with Norman s
passionate dialogue, it gives an intense sense to this part of the scene. This has been done to fully
illustrate exactly how intense and forceful Norman can be and so the audience feels uneasy about what

King Triton s Costume
My first rendering is of King Triton. This rendering was inspired by my strong and caring father.
Tritons character is a strong and protective father of many girls. His wife taken from him and all he
has left of his late wife is the youngest child and the mane harrowen. This costume was drawn with
two royal blue and gold sashes crossing in the middle of his chest. The center to the cross rests his
Triton crest in the middle representing the soul of the kingdom and his family. Accompanying the
royal blue and gold sashes is the skirt that has a sash at the top and drapes down. This exposes the
eyes to the background. The skirt that he wears has a downward shark tooth design, in a ... Show more

Strategic Customer Management And Solutions
For strategic customer management and solutions selling, a firm s entire core processes need to be
aligned and working collaboratively to create and deliver value to both the customer and the firm as a
whole.
Within Avaya marketing and sales are very separate functions with each focused on their own tasks
and objectives. This is evident from the funnels which are completely separate and identify no overlap
between the functions. It appears that each team has developed processes in isolation, meaning that
there is no alignment or collaboration between the groups.
One of the key hurdles standing in the way of effective demand generation is the leads generation
process. The case study highlights that the prospects from the marketing team were viewed in terms of
a set of criteria, however this criteria appears to be set by the marketing team and varied greatly across
different markets. This is in contract to the leads generated by the sales team who spent a lot of time
upfront assessing the attractiveness of an opportunity by really understanding the prospect company,
their interest level and how Avaya could provide a solution. This gap between the lead qualification
process results in the sales team spending considerable time requalifying any leads from the marketing
team to understand what the customers problem is and what an Avaya solution would look like (this is
not an efficient use of their time). In order to make strategic choices about your customers, all relevant

A Child s Purity: Further from Death, but Closer to Heaven.
Throughout the recorded history of the Christian religion, countless writings, both canonical and non
canonical, have been discovered and translated. As is the issue with most religious texts, scholars
fiercely engage each other s interpretations and opinions regarding these texts. The Gospel of Thomas
is no different. Considered Gnostic by some and canon by others, the Gospel of Thomas is a collection
of sayings that were spoken by the living Jesus, and recorded by Didymos Judas Thomas. Throughout
the length of the text, there are a number of common themes; the most notable being the idea that the
people look to Jesus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Satiating the lust of the flesh is frowned heavily upon in most religions. Because Adam and Eve gave
into this temptation, all humans are born with some semblance of the original sin. However, the blank
slate nature of a child is as close to perfect as one can hope to be. Many of Jesus s sayings in the
Gospel of Thomas suggest that children, babies in particular, have everything they need to be almost
perfect; for they are born with that of the light of the Father, and therefore hold some divinity (Litwa,
2015). Jesus tells his disciples that circumcision is not useful, for if it was, the Father would have
made babies circumcised. Jesus says congratulations to the poor and the meek, for the Heaven s
Kingdom shall belong to them. A child a baby is nothing if it is not poor and meek. A child has done
nothing, earned nothing, and truly cannot be anything other than poor, and meek. It is with age, and
sin, that a child loses their sight of the path to Heaven. At several points in the text, Jesus talks about
the intrinsic war between father and son, and the necessary hatred for one s parents. It is entirely
possible that Jesus could be describing the struggle that a good child faces in attempting to separate
themselves from their parents, who have become old and deep in sin. Jesus speaks of an anecdote
about a slave being unable to sever two masters, for he would be

Identifying The Patterns Of Social Acceptance
In the context of parties of people, I was particularly interested in finding the patterns of social
acceptance, and the ways that people incorporate themselves into groups. An example of such
acceptance can be the pattern of individuals who completely ignore groups around them by staring at
their phone; compared to those who strike conversations with people they haven t met before.
Addressed, also, are ways that people use more passive technique to identify themselves and how this
resembles their social circle. Note taking was taken in two spots with the overall time of note taking to
roughly 1 hour. The first area was the quad. This area was where the majority of notes were written. I
selected this area in particular because of the traffic during lunch hours. In order to get a good viewing
angle of the quad, I sat under in the southwest corner of the quad and began taking notes. The other
part of my notes were written in a more progressive manner. I specifically took notes of group patterns
during lecture, and regularly would ask questions focused on such. Finding a correlation between the
different questions asked, and a behavioral response is how I drew my conclusions. I am always
fascinated between how people socialize. This topic is close to my heart because I was an extreme
introvert before my final years of high school. Not being able to just start a simple conversation
because of social anxiety is one of the worst feelings anybody can have, and it takes a lot

Respiratory Syncytial Virus Essay
Back in 1960s, there was an outbreak of coryza, also known as rhinitis, a contagious inflammatory
disease involving the upper respiratory tract. In 1965, Dr. J.A. Morris and his colleagues were able to
recover and isolate the pathogen that caused this outbreak from a captive chimpanzee. (Lambert,
2014) Through their research and study, they found out that Respiratory syncytial virus was causing
the infection. Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a specific type of virus that is able to cause both
upper and lower respiratory tract infections. It is an enveloped RNA virus that can infect people of all
ages but has severe impact on children under the age of two. Respiratory syncytial virus is a typical
childhood disease. Out of the human population, infants are the most susceptible. Within the infant
population, there are four main groups that are affected: premature infants, infants with lung disease,
infants who have a weak immune system, and infants who suffer from a heart disease (Medline Plus,

RSV is a highly contagious disease. Exposure and infection of respiratory syncytial virus can easily

People can become infected with RSV through either direct or indirect contact. Direct contact can
occur through physical contact with people who are infected or fine aerosol droplets from one who

to an intermediate conveyor such as an inanimate object, and then to another host. According to the

soft surfaces such as tissues and hands. This is how respiratory syncytial virus can be transmitted from

A Brief Note On Websites That Gives Unbiased, Quality...
How to Spot Websites that Gives Unbiased, Quality Information
According to Daily Changes, 100,000 web pages are registered every single day. Of the 100,000 that
were created today, how many of them can one expect to be accurate and informative? When truly
performing scholarly research, how is one expected to be able to distinguish the good from the bad
and the bad from the ugly? An effective information source will have proper depth, an appropriate
domain name, and citations for sources.
Every website has a purpose. When researching, the primary goal is to gain information and be
informed, so the purpose of the chosen website should align with that. An immediate overlook of the
website will tell users whether or not there s enough information. Just like any good essay, the
material covered should be what the viewer is looking for. Truly, the only way to be sure a website has
proper depth is through thorough exploration. Next, websites can quickly and simply be identified by
their domain name. A quick glance at the website s URL can give a brief indication of the website s
overall theme. Any internet savvy individual would be able to decipher that a website entitled
Facebook.com won t be able to furnish information about subatomic particles. Furthermore, the end of
a website domain can say a lot about it. The ending, .com is for commercial sites and can host pretty
much anything. However, the endings .edu, for education; .gov, for government; and .org, for

The Concepts Of Activity- Based Costing
ABSTRACT This paper will discuss and analyze the concepts of Activity Based Costing (ABC) in the
manufacturing industry. Specifically, the document will focus on General Motors (GM), and the
innovation of one of their manufacturing facilities who used ABC to predict energy usage in the
manufacturing of automobiles. The study yielded a successful ABC predictive energy model which
provided a structure for competitive advantage for the corporation.
INTRODUCTION
General Motors (GM) is one of the most renowned automakers in the world. GM is well known for
their streamlined assembly processes which saves money and time in the production of cars. A study
was conducted at one of GM s vehicle assembly plants as part of a research project to examine how
the ABC model provides value. GM specifically focused on its potential to determine expected energy
use in a plant for varying production schedules in order to evaluate Demand and Response offers.
According to the case study written by Jurek, Bras, Guldberg, D Arcy, Oh, and Biller, energy costs
were steadily rising and were predicted to continue this trend going into the future. At the same time,
utility companies were beginning to implement Smart Grid technologies to increase the efficiency of
energy distribution. One resulting program to emerge from these new technologies was Demand and
Response contracting. (Jurek, Bras, Guldberg, D Arcy, Oh, Biller 2000). This program allowed

basketball tournament where sororities and fraternities come out to compete against one another. In
the spring we held Anchor Splash which is a synchronized swimming event with many different relay

Lochlan was diagnosed with CRB1 and how he will eventually loose his eyesight completely. This
story touched a lot of students, faculty, and families that attended our philanthropy. We made Lochlan

has mainly concentrated in urban areas. Meanwhile more than 70% of the population live in the rural
areas, this is a major challenge for businesses in raising the proportion of rural milk drinking. Due to
the nature of the dairy sector, all consumers considered that its useful value is nutritional for them and
their loved ones. Consumers are always thinking in one direction that the higher the price is, the
higher the quality is. While the Vietnam fresh milk market has been dominated by the large firms,
Vinamilk will not succeed if they position a similar product. Therefore, with a different positioning, by
focusing on creating an alternative product for fresh dairy products, they will create a strong position
in the consumers mind. Based on the survey, we found that, apart from cow s milk, many customers,
especially those of women and older people, like soy milk because it does not contain much fat and
effects which is good for their health. Therefore, Vinamilk should take interest in this issue to create a

Internet and the influence it has brought to our life. The way the author quoted the researchers
sentences and theories helped us to feel more willing to continue reading this book.
We used to read books to absorb new information or just kill time. It was a traditional way for us to
obtain knowledge and ideas of people around the world. Sometimes we spend several hours or even
days reading an interesting book just because we were attracted by some new thoughts. However, the
occurrence of computer and the internet has changed this. We have lost our patience and interest in
reading long articles and books. Instead, we prefer searching keywords online to get what we want by
skipping all the way. This change has drawn huge influence on the development of the new
generations. As the author has pointed out in the book, it was more difficult to assign the students to
read a whole book nowadays. Also, since we do not need to actually write anything for most of time
all we do is typing, on the cell phone, on the computer, on the typewriter, and ect we forget words
spelling from time to time because we haven t written them for a log time. The effects of technology

The Illuminati and the New World Order Conspiracy Essay
The Illuminati is a secret society that was established in the late 18th century. Not long after it was
created, it was supposedly abolished completely. However, many people believe that the Illuminati
still exists today. While the Illuminati is an exceedingly broad topic with many conspiracies involved,
the supposed actions of the modern day Illuminati and the New World Order conspiracy theory are the
main topics.
Whether someone believes the Illuminati exists today or not does not change the fact that the
Illuminati did, in fact, exist in the late 18th century. The Illuminati, a secret society, was founded in
1776 by Adam Weishaupt ( The Illuminati par. 1). Adam Weishaupt was a former Jesuit [type of

3). Despite the fact that historians think it was abolished completely, they cannot be entirely sure.
Quite a few people believe that, contrary to what historians say, the Illuminati still exists today in a
stronger form. According to the Illuminati, the Napoleonic Wars were caused by the Illuminati even
though, by this time in history, they were supposedly non existent ( History of the Illuminati par. 3).
Other areas that people say the Illuminati affects or controls today might include: music, world
banking, economy, the United Nations, and even the United States itself. The Illuminati tactic is to
divide and conquer by supplying arms and money to both sides and instigating people to fight and kill
each other in order to be able to achieve their objectives ( The Illuminati Cult par. 3). According to this
source, the Illuminati gives reason to attack another country or group by causing some sort of
catastrophic event and then giving each side what they need to just fight against themselves. ...the
Illuminati worked out a blueprint for three world wars throughout the 20th century that would lead to
a one world government by the end of the 20th century ( History of the Illuminati par. 5). This source
then continues to say that the third world war will be against the Jews and Muslims and will drain the
international community to

Berlese Funnel Lab Report
Abstract
In our Berlese Funnel lab we sampled two different types of forest, deciduous and coniferous, both on
our school campus. We set up multiple funnels in our classrooms with heat directly above them. After
collecting leaf litter from our designated forest we placed them in a funnels above beakers of alcohol.
We let them sit for two nights in a row and while in class checked for different organisms under
microscopes. We calculated the different amount of species and how many there were of each.
Introduction:
Antonio Berlese was an Italian entomologist. He worked on pest insects (arthropods), usually those of
fruit trees. Arthropods are the most successful animals on the planet. They make up over three fourths

Wcg s Unconscionability
WCG s attempted disclaimer of warranties was unconscionable and therefore invalid and
unenforceable against the Imrys. The doctrine of unconscionability has both a procedural and
substantive element and applies to all contracts including disclaimer provisions. A M Produce Co. v.
FMC Corp., 135 Cal. App. 3d 473, 484 86 (1982). Unconscionable warranty disclaimers may be
unenforceable despite technical compliance with Cal. Com. Code § 2316. Id. at 484.
WGC s warranty disclaimer was procedurally unconscionable. The procedural element focuses on
oppression, which arises from an inequality of bargaining power resulting in no real negotiation and

the disclaimer was also found substantively unconscionable. The court held that assuming a buyer of a
standardized mass produced product from an industry seller would make that purchase without any
enforceable performance standards is patently unreasonable. Id. at 491. The court further found that
the use of a disclaimer to prevent a buyer from reasonably relying on the performance representations
of a product further calls into question the commercial reasonableness of the agreement. Id. The one
sided result in A M Produce Co. would have been the businessman being forced to pay for machinery
that never worked. When taken in consideration with the procedural unconscionability of the
agreement, the unreasonable reallocation of risk resulting in the one sided outcome was found to
outweigh any justification the manufacturer could have given, and was therefore substantively
unconscionable. Id. at

Parent Training
Parent Training Vs. Parent Education: Which Encourages Confidence and Engagement?
In 2012 one in sixty eight children were diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) according to
the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (2016). One of the symptoms associated with
autism is aggressive behavior presented outwardly toward others or as self injurious behavior.
Disruptive behaviors are often seen in the way of kicking, biting, hitting, and throwing objects, which
can result in injury to the child, parent, and increase parental stress level which can cause increased
behavior problems. In a study of 1380 children with ASD, performed by Kanne Mazurek (2010), the
researchers found 56% of the children engaged in aggressive behaviors ... Show more content on

(2014). Although the study was small and consisted of only 8 male children and 11 parents, all
children exhibit aggressive or challenging behaviors as described by the parents (Preece, 2014). This
study showed a significant improvement in confidence after training which increased over time
(Preece, 2014). Further, it showed a decrease in physical interventions performed within the home
(Preece, 2014). The parents reported that they were better able to understand how their own actions
impacted the behaviors in the children and the addition of the physical intervention component gave
them the confidence to intervene appropriately if necessary (Preece, 2014). This study was very small
and leaves room for a larger scale study to be performed. Further, all participants were male, came
from the same school, and were the same age. In the proposed study aspects of PBS will be
incorporated on a larger scale with a more diverse population in order to determine the effectiveness
of the training on a wider

Digital Technology Fundamentally Changed The Nature Of...

Title: Have developments in digital technology fundamentally changed the nature of diplomacy or are
they simply new means to pursuing the same ends?
Word count:
Intro:
This uncertainty reflects a growing awareness that a transformational international system still
dominated by sovereign states is having to respond to change at several interrelated levels. Whilst
complex policy agendas still demand a central, if changing, role for the state, many of the norms, rules
and roles associated with diplomacy as it has developed over the last few centuries are no longer fit
for purpose. Clearly, fundamental questions regarding the purposes of diplomacy, who is or should be
involved in it and what forms and practices it should assume to deal with new policy challenges need
to be urgently addressed. This applies to international organizations as well as the institutions of
national diplomacy and offers a fundamentally different perspective from that based on the familiar
claim that diplomacy is irrelevant to contemporary global needs. Rather, diplomacy has a central role
but needs to adapt to the demands of a rapidly changing environment. Against this background, a
central assumption of this report is that diplomacy as a set of processes continues to be of central
importance to the global policy milieu and that these processes need to be constantly re evaluated.

Commodification Of College Sports Essay
Colleges in the United States previously focused solely on education, while emphasizing their
character and minds. They focused on the student as an athlete making that their main focus and
concern. Together, the idea of athletics and academics complemented each other. While the focus
remained on the student, the individual was able to learn valuable skills that would assist them in the
real world. Since then, the focus of college education has changed to concentrating on the idea of
entertainment. A well rounded student athlete is no longer expected since they are sacrificed for the
sake of the audience s enjoyment. Today, athletic programs exist as entities, pretending to act in the
best interest of the institution. Carson and Rinehart argue that the disappearance of the college student
athlete has occurred for numerous reasons. Primarily, colleges began to encompass the idea of
athletics and their benefits directly towards the institution. This means that the focus is now aimed
towards the financial enterprise of athletics directly through ticket sales, broadcasting, merchandising
and much more. College ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
College athletics no longer serve as an extracurricular activity got students, but rather as a product. In
addition to this, the commodification of college sports has also led to the exploitation of student
athletes. Since academic ideals have fallen, the exploitation of African American athletes have
reinforced this. They now dominate on college teams, but treating someone different to benefit from
their work is shocking. Due to the desperate need for success in athletics, colleges have put their moral
compasses aside to recruit African American athletes who will benefit the team, regardless of the cost.
They receive privileged treatment in the recruitment process, which has essentially disregarded any of

Marxist View Of What Law Is The Foundation Of Society And Law
1. Marxists argue that control of the means of production is the foundation of society and law is a
reflection of that dynamic. Do you agree? Discuss.
Law is only a superstructure; in reality it only translates the interests of those who hold the reins of
command in any given society; it is an instrument in the service of those who exercise their
dictatorship in this society because they have the instruments of production within their control.
For Marx there were two distinct classes in society, the ruling class, the owners of the means of
production, the Bourgeoisie and the ruled class, the Proletariat . The quote, with which I begin this
essay, clearly explains the Marxist view of what law is in a given society. For Marxists ... Show more

Those in power within the law making bodies are quite clearly what Marx would consider bourgeois:
they are highly paid, highly educated individuals who have a means of controlling how (and indeed
what) laws are put in to place. Arguably it is unavoidable, to find ourselves in a situation, in which, we
have a select group in society in positions of power, who can implement and change legislation. Most
would argue that these people have been democratically elected, and chosen by democratic means.
Marxists believe that the bourgeoisie have the control of law making bodies and thus make laws
which are favourable towards their social class whilst penalising the proletariat. We can see this
expressed in the Communist Manifesto
Your very ideas are but the outgrowth of the conditions of your bourgeois production and bourgeois
property, just as your jurisprudence is but the will of your class made in to a law for all .
This statement highlights the Marxist belief that control of the means of creation of law, allows for the
creation of laws which could be seen as coercive and controlling. An example of these, unjust laws,
within our society which coincide with this Marxist view could be the under occupancy charge, more
commonly known as the bedroom tax. Under this legislation we see a reduction in housing benefits for
people who have

Competitive Strategy And Total Quality Management Case Study
2.1 Introduction
This section examines the theoretical foundations of the study, review of empirical literature, the
conceptual framework and research hypotheses.
2.2 Theoretical Foundations of the study
This section provides a brief review of the literature and theoretical background on the two main
constructs underlying the models tested in this study: Competitive Strategy, Total Quality
Management.
2.2.1 Competitive Strategy
According to Porter (1985), strategies allow organizations to gain competitive advantage from three
different bases: cost leadership, differentiation, and focus and calls these bases the generic strategies.
2.2.1.1 Cost Leadership
In cost leadership, a firm sets out to become the lowest cost producer in its industry. The low cost
producer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dean and Bowen (1994) argue that TQM is more concerned with implementation than with intent and
hence the need to explore to which particular generic strategy TQM can be associated with.
Hence, hypotheses 1 is proposed as below:
Hypotheses 1: There is a positive and significant relationship between competitive strategy and TQM
practices.
2.4 Competitive Strategy and Organization Performance
The link between competitive strategy and organizational performance is a classical theme in strategic
management literature, with the main thesis being that organization strategy determines organizational
structure, which in turn influences organization performance (Prajogo Sohal, 2003). Miller (1988)
suggests that organizations adopting competitive strategies for example differentiation place emphasis
on new product development, research and development and technologies. These firms achieve
significant performance in terms of quality and innovation performance.
Hence, hypotheses 2 is proposed as

  • 3. Vegetarianism In Tibetan Buddhism Tibetan Buddhism, a Mahayana sect, is a unique exception in strictly following the vegetarian diet, as Tibetan Buddhism encourages vegetarianism despite most communities being located on the Qing hai Tibetan Plateau (Rinpoche) The Qing hai plateau is most likely the largest and highest area ever to exist on Earth, with an average elevation of 16,400 feet (Foggin). This has led to few constructions of transportation services, virtually causing the region to be excluded from vegetation trade. Furthermore, lack of oxygen due to high elevation and severe permafrost demolish the prospect of any suitable condition coming about for growing numerous crops. To cope with these circumstances, Tibetan Buddhists strive on a vegetable and grain diet, consuming a restricted amount of meat if natural conditions limit their main food sources (Rinpoche). In this way, they clearly demonstrate their compassion towards animal life by holding a strong resolve to consume only non beings and to eat meat only if of utmost necessity, regardless of limited vegetation supply. On the bases of ahimsa and compassion, Tibetan Buddhism perpetuates the moral responsibility and spiritual respect humans should hold towards nonhumans. Contrary to the disheartening truth that animal agriculture and animal slaughter are inescapably intertwined, the vegetarian diet is not a required regimen in all Buddhist schools of thought. Buddha Gautama characterized Buddhism as a free religion, aware that forbidding meat ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Is Macbeth Relevant Today Society defines a hero as a valiant figure whom many admire due to their relatable, yet seemingly just actions. William Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Macbeth, tells the story of Macbeth, a lord who showed his bravery in battle and whom many look up to as a role model. However, it is through his ambition and need for power that his morals are put into question, and result in his downfall. Although tragic, Macbeths rise and fall is similar to many influential people of modern society. One notable example is actor and comedian Bill Cosby. A man many grew up with, and felt was not only a father on screen, but in the hearts of many. Recently, Cosby has become the face of yet another scandal. By his actions becoming public, Cosby is now seeing his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In William Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Macbeth, Macbeth s need for power is reflected by his actions when he realizes King Duncan stands in his way of the throne. It is then, that Macbeth sets forth to murder the King out of his own selfish will. Macbeth seems hesitant to go through with his intensions at first, though ultimately the bell invites [him]... for it is a knell that summons [Duncan] to heaven, or to hell (II, i, 62 64). Furthermore, Bill Cosby s actions also reflect his wants and needs. In the article Bill Cosby raped me. Why did it take 30 years for people to believe my story? Barbara Bowman expresses Cosby s need of self power. In the article Bowman makes a valid point that the entertainment world is rife with famous men who use their power to victimize ... young women who look up to them (Bowman). Being that many admired Cosby by watching him on TV, he used his power for his own self centered satisfaction. Since Cosby knew he could lure women due to his fame, he set forth to sexually assault those who had admired him. Both Cosby and Macbeth s decisions reflect their ultimate needs. In both cases they made unethical decisions that changed the way people viewed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Terri Schiavo´s Life Story In the early months of 2005, Terri Schiavo s life story, involving her persistent vegetative state (PVS) captured the worldwide spotlight and brought up controversial issues surrounding guardian care of the patient, as well as the overall decisions made by Congress. The government involvement in her case impeded any decisions the family and spouse could properly address for the well being of Schiavo (Montero 166). The governmental court system in Terri Schiavo s case behaved immorally in regard to the eventual removal of her feeding tube. In 1990, Schiavo suddenly collapsed in her house at the age of 26. Oxygen was depleted to her brain for several minutes as she lay unconscious on the ground. The cause of her collapse sent both her doctors and nurses into disarray because there was not a specific pinpoint reason for her collapse. Her husband, Michael Schiavo, suspected the collapse was due to a cardiac arrest from a potassium imbalance due to her suspected bulimia. Her parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, believed her fall was rendered by strangulation from Michael Schiavo, which caused the depletion of oxygen to her brain. Once admitted into the hospital, further examinations concurred that she did not suffer any heart or strangulation injuries. Once in the hospital, doctors and nurses examined Terri and concluded she was in a coma, which then would evolve into a vegetative state (Montero 167). Patients will normally enter into a coma, which resembles a sleep state of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Bronislaw Malinowski Research Paper There have been many scholars that have had different views on rituals and why people partake in them. One of the most renowned English Functionalist had the idea of rituals being performed because of a psychological reason. Bronislaw Malinowski proposed that humans participated in rituals whenever they were in danger. He suggested that rituals were performed as a mean to help people deal with anxiety. Bronislaw Malinowski was lead to believe that uneducated cultures did not understand how to cope with everyday problems so they performed rituals instead. In the reading, Bronislaw Malinowski uses The Trobriand Islanders as an example of his theory. The islanders would take long journeys for trading purposes. He saw rituals as a way for people of a society to preserve their unity with one another. Emile Durkheim s theory was that while people were partaking in rituals they would put aside their self centered tendencies and become a part of their society. He believed that rituals would bring such a powerful bond between the participants. The rituals needed to continue to be performed to keep the bond alive. Emile Durkheim inspired A.R Radcliffe Brown who agreed with his theories. There are three different categories that Anthropologist place people who perform rituals in. These categories are, Category A which is Shamans; Category B which is Priest; and Category C which is Prophets. The phrase shaman comes from the language of a Siberian group. The translation of it is one who is excited or moved. The most well known culture that has shamans in them are the Native American Indians. • 7. Thread And Balance By Timothy Tapestry Thread and Balance In a small town many years ago, the Tapestry family walked to work enjoying the simple pleasures that the morning offered. Timothy Tapestry was a tall man with blond hair and a subdued face. He had lived in this town his whole life, and just like any other morning, he gazed happily at the hills in the distance. Ever since he was young, Timothy had marveled at how the sun lit up those hills in the morning, and since he was a creature of habit, he did the same today. Past his thoughts, and in a world of her own, Adeline Tapestry walked with her husband to work. She too enjoyed the morning, but for reasons other than its routine. He then raised his hand to wave goodbye, and the royal parade began to leave. A mixture of joy and anxiety rushed through Timothy and Adeline as the king and queen left. For although the Tapestrys were well known for their quality products, it always took them a while to actually fabricate their orders. They would have to work quickly, and precisely to overcome their time constraints. Once the crowd had finally dispersed, the Tapestrys let themselves into their shop. It was a homey place that told comforting stories through its exposed beams, and crackling fireplace. Immediately they began to pull out different fabrics, and patterns trying to decide what would best suit King Leonardo, and his wife Queen Alisha. Consumers feel that they have to get something back, such as an intrinsic value from the products. Pricing is affixed with many different variables such as the flexibility of price, geographic term, discounts and price levels over the product cycle. A marketing manager must also consider what type of pricing objective to use. For this paper, I have made myself the new marketing manager of Foster Farms Poultry Products. We do not hire outside contractors and deploy the very best chain management system available. Transportation is critical for this company. This is because not only are the products perishable, but we feel the need to get the products to stores faster so they themselves can make profit. Since our product turnover ratio is high, we make money in the long run. We can sell our chicken at fifty cents per pound and still turn profit in the long run. Cyber Warfare Between The United States And Russia Drawing from authors like Jason Andress who is an academic teacher and a professional security expert, the book Cyber Warfare states that The U.S. military does not have a definition for cyber warfare today (53). While this work was published in 2014, it is still a fair assessment into today. According to the CCDCOE, again on their webpage Cyber Definitions, cyber warfare as agreed between The United States and Russia is defined as cyber attacks that are authorized by state actors against cyber infrastructure in conjunction with government campaign. The two nations also define cyber attacks in the same agreement to mean an offensive use of a cyber weapon intended to hard designated target. Finally, the two nations define cyber ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Beyond the problem of defining what cyberwarfare is, for all parties involved, comes the problems of attributing if an attack was state sponsored or not. Crimes performed by non state actors certainly require a response that is different than those which other nations were complicit in carrying out. This means cyber space attacks, which are the basis of cyberwarfare, do not make it easy to determine who the perpetrators of such attacks are. Even in cases where the trail of breadcrumbs leads right back to the perpetrators, there are real challenges in many forms to be dealt with. Challenges like legally charging, apprehending, and holding accountable those involved in a practical manner. Challenges like determining rather it was an action under official orders or rogue attacks. Certainly the anonymity cyberspace provides for actors adds a difficult level to deal with when facing the challenges of keeping us well prepared against the threat. How do you stop getting hit in any conflict if you are unsure of who is hitting you? Until the United States as a whole is more capable of nailing down the ability to track such information with the ability to prove such findings, there is little to deter those hostile to the United States from making those challenges hard to be well prepared for. • 12. The Stock Market Crash Of 1929, By Brenda Lange On October 29, 1929, America experienced the most calamitous stock market crash in its history. Although some tried to prevent the crash from getting worse, the fear and panic that so many Americans felt, caused them to make a horrible situation even worse. The 1929 stock market crash affected America in several ways, causing America to go from a time of prosperity, to a time of strife, leading Americans to lose billions of dollars and also leading to an increase in homelessness and unemployment rates, leaving America devastated. Before the market crash, many people were happy and optimistic about the future. Brenda Lange, author of The Stock Market Crash of 1929, wrote that the time before the crash was a time of optimism and hope, and the future looked promising. (Lange 12), referring to how people had nothing to worry about. With a majority of people believing that nothing bad would happen, the small signs of the future crash went unnoticed, leading to a mass panic when the market first went down, which was a partial cause of the October 29th crash. ... • 13. Antisemitism In Poland The country of Poland in central Europe has a long history with the Jewish people. Jewish history in Poland dates all of the way back to the tenth century when Jewish immigrants first arrived. They immigrated from countries such as Germany, Romania, and the Byzantine Empire. Many of the Jewish immigrants were tradesmen, merchants, and small business owners. They also introduced their own language called Yiddish to Poland. Many Jews came to Poland in the Middle Ages to escape persecution during the crusades (Crowe 69). Jews came to Poland because they were more accepted in Poland than anywhere else. According to Crowe, in 1264 Prince Boleslaw the Pius issued the Statute of Kalisz (69). This statute put the Jews under the Prince s protection ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Piłsudsk was not anti semitic. In fact he had no anti jewish tendencies and refrained from using antisemitism as an instrument for furthering political and socioeconomic policies (Gutman 1154). Piłsudski tried to change attitudes towards the Jews and improve their condition. However, not a whole lot of progress was made because the Great Depression hit Poland in the 1930 s and the situation for Jews started to go downhill again because of it. As Crowe states, the depression and the weakening of Poland s democratic institutions hurt the Jews economic status and political influence (165). Many Pole s wanted Jewish people out of the government. The events of the depression as well as Józef Piłsudski s death in 1935 gave these people the chance they wanted to get rid of Jews. After Piłsudski died it made way for his successors to adopt a new political movement in which they tightened relations with Nazi Germany and adopted a clear anti Jewish policy (Gutman 1154). they did this because they wanted Poland to be strong a cohesive. From their perspective, in order for the government to be strong and cohesive it means that they need to get all Jews out of the government and certain professions. One way they tried to rid Jews of the country is by establishing an anti Jewish boycott of all Jewish businesses. However, some people thought that this was not severe enough so they took to more violent ways of extracting the Jewish population. They would have anti Jewish riots and they would remove Jews from their jobs to try to get them to emigrate out of Poland. The government also placed numerus clausus restrictions on University students (165) so the enrollment of Jews in universities dropped from 20.4% in 1928 1929 to 9.9% in 1937 1938 (Crowe 165). • 14. The Enron Corporation Scandal IDENTIFY THE ACCOUNTING PRACTICES THAT WERE ASSOCIATED WITH THE ACCOUNTING SCANDAL. The Enron Corporation failures made world headlines for many reasons ranging from greed from its executives, the alleged malpractice and criminal behaviours, and its quick and disastrous collapse. The most critical factor in Enron s melt down was the use of creative and manipulative accounting practices to distort reported profitability and indebtedness that befell the corporation (A. Holt and T. Eccles, 2002) The accounting practices involved in this case are the revenue recognition criteria adopted by Enron Corporation, Market to Market strategies, the use of Special Purpose Entities, booking to cost as assets and the corporate governance practices. He discusses the necessity of an empowered Great Britain in the shadow of World War II; as well as his confidence within the strength of the British people. This speech s lasting impact was reinforced by it s usage of the three appeals: ethos, logos, and pathos. These appeals address the ethical, logical, and emotional ideas and undertones within a piece. Churchill s iconic speech truly encapsulates these three appeals within every word. Ethos is considered to be the ethical aspect of a piece. In other words: is the information and speaker reputable and trustworthy? Funk is defined to be any of a number if unrelated, complex organic substances found variously in most foods, or sometimes synthesized in the body, and essential, in small amounts for the regulation of the metabolism and normal growth and functioning of the body. (Webster s New World College Dictionary, 4th Edition) We often obtain the substantial amount of Vitamin C through our diets since the body is unstable to synthesize and actually produce Vitamin C on its own. Vitamin C also known as Ascorbic acid is a colorless, crystalline, water soluble vitamin, found in many foods especially citrus fruits, vegetables, and rose hips; its required for proper nutrition and metabolism, and a deficiency produces scurvy. (Webster s New World College Dictionary, 4th Edition) If an individual does not have a sufficient amount of Vitamin C in their bloodstream it often leads to a slow recovery for a simple cold, and for the formation of proteins (collagen) which then creates skin, cartilage, tendons, ligaments and blood vessels. This is evident from the funnels which are completely separate and identify no overlap between the functions. Satiating the lust of the flesh is frowned heavily upon in most religions. Because Adam and Eve gave into this temptation, all humans are born with some semblance of the original sin. However, the blank slate nature of a child is as close to perfect as one can hope to be. Many of Jesus s sayings in the Gospel of Thomas suggest that children, babies in particular, have everything they need to be almost perfect; for they are born with that of the light of the Father, and therefore hold some divinity (Litwa, 2015). Jesus tells his disciples that circumcision is not useful, for if it was, the Father would have made babies circumcised. Jesus says congratulations to the poor and the meek, for the Heaven s Kingdom shall belong to them. A child a baby is nothing if it is not poor and meek. A child has done nothing, earned nothing, and truly cannot be anything other than poor, and meek. It is with age, and sin, that a child loses their sight of the path to Heaven. At several points in the text, Jesus talks about the intrinsic war between father and son, and the necessary hatred for one s parents. Who Is To Blame For The Tragedy Of The Titanic The Tragedy of the Titanic By Karson Lani On that night April 14: 11:40 p.m. The lookouts spot an iceberg with their bare eyes straight ahead and they veered to the left to hope to miss the iceberg. Little did the passengers know that they hit the iceberg but up front there was a loud SKREECH! • 40. Graduation Speech On Joining Greek Life Background Statement Never in a million years did I plan on joining Greek life in college. When I got to school I quickly decided that I wanted to be more involved and help make a difference in people s lives. I decided to rush a sorority which happened to be Delta Gamma. Delta Gamma has provided me with so many wonderful opportunities to make a difference. When the Whited family reached out to our chapter here at IUP I knew this would be something I would remember doing for years to come. The Whited family came to one of our chapter meetings and we got to meet little Lochlan who touched all of our hearts. Having philanthropy events has always been one of my favorite things about Greek life. Whether it is attending other sorority or fraternities events or being apart of our own. Delta Gamma holds two main events for Service for Sight each year. In the fall we have Anchor Slam which is a three on three basketball tournament where sororities and fraternities come out to compete against one another. In the spring we held Anchor Splash which is a synchronized swimming event with many different relay races. This year we had the Whited family come and speak on their behalf. They explained how Lochlan was diagnosed with CRB1 and how he will eventually loose his eyesight completely. This story touched a lot of students, faculty, and families that attended our philanthropy. We made Lochlan our featured anchor man and tried to raise as much money as possible for the family. This event was very successful and we raised over 1,800 dollars to give to the family. Each year Delta Gamma has a founder s day. Founder s day was held this year at the Rustic Lodge in Indiana PA. We celebrated our 35 years on IUP s campus as Delta Gamma s. Many old alumnae came and celebrated with us at a formal dinner. This year we invited the Whited family to come and talk about the struggles their family has been experiencing with their son Lochlan. Benefits Of An Alternative Product For Fresh Dairy Products income of urban residents is 5 7 times higher than those in the rural areas, therefore, purchasing power has mainly concentrated in urban areas. Meanwhile more than 70% of the population live in the rural areas, this is a major challenge for businesses in raising the proportion of rural milk drinking. Due to the nature of the dairy sector, all consumers considered that its useful value is nutritional for them and their loved ones. Consumers are always thinking in one direction that the higher the price is, the higher the quality is. While the Vietnam fresh milk market has been dominated by the large firms, Vinamilk will not succeed if they position a similar product. Therefore, with a different positioning, by focusing on creating an alternative product for fresh dairy products, they will create a strong position in the consumers mind. Based on the survey, we found that, apart from cow s milk, many customers, especially those of women and older people, like soy milk because it does not contain much fat and effects which is good for their health. Therefore, Vinamilk should take interest in this issue to create a new product, such as soy milk to satisfy those customers. Normally, when the topic of a book is about technology or internet , it is difficult for the book to be written in a fun way because let s face it; this topic itself is a little tedious. However, this book showed us a brand new way of talking about Internet and the influence it has brought to our life. The way the author quoted the researchers sentences and theories helped us to feel more willing to continue reading this book. We used to read books to absorb new information or just kill time. It was a traditional way for us to obtain knowledge and ideas of people around the world. Sometimes we spend several hours or even days reading an interesting book just because we were attracted by some new thoughts. However, the occurrence of computer and the internet has changed this. We have lost our patience and interest in reading long articles and books. Instead, we prefer searching keywords online to get what we want by skipping all the way. This change has drawn huge influence on the development of the new generations. As the author has pointed out in the book, it was more difficult to assign the students to read a whole book nowadays. Further, it showed a decrease in physical interventions performed within the home (Preece, 2014). • 48. Digital Technology Fundamentally Changed The Nature Of... Name: Jennifer Diane Ulloa SOAS ID: 643951 Course: Global Diplomatic Studies and Practice Tutor: Goitom Gebreluel Title: Have developments in digital technology fundamentally changed the nature of diplomacy or are they simply new means to pursuing the same ends? Word count: Intro: This uncertainty reflects a growing awareness that a transformational international system still dominated by sovereign states is having to respond to change at several interrelated levels. Whilst complex policy agendas still demand a central, if changing, role for the state, many of the norms, rules and roles associated with diplomacy as it has developed over the last few centuries are no longer fit for purpose. Clearly, fundamental questions regarding the purposes of diplomacy, who is or should be involved in it and what forms and practices it should assume to deal with new policy challenges need to be urgently addressed. This applies to international organizations as well as the institutions of national diplomacy and offers a fundamentally different perspective from that based on the familiar claim that diplomacy is irrelevant to contemporary global needs. Rather, diplomacy has a central role but needs to adapt to the demands of a rapidly changing environment. Against this background, a central assumption of this report is that diplomacy as a set of processes continues to be of central importance to the global policy milieu and that these processes need to be constantly re evaluated. ... • 49. Commodification Of College Sports Essay Colleges in the United States previously focused solely on education, while emphasizing their character and minds. They focused on the student as an athlete making that their main focus and concern. Together, the idea of athletics and academics complemented each other. While the focus remained on the student, the individual was able to learn valuable skills that would assist them in the real world. Since then, the focus of college education has changed to concentrating on the idea of entertainment. A well rounded student athlete is no longer expected since they are sacrificed for the sake of the audience s enjoyment. Today, athletic programs exist as entities, pretending to act in the best interest of the institution. Carson and Rinehart argue that the disappearance of the college student athlete has occurred for numerous reasons. Primarily, colleges began to encompass the idea of athletics and their benefits directly towards the institution. This means that the focus is now aimed towards the financial enterprise of athletics directly through ticket sales, broadcasting, merchandising and much more. College ... • 50. Marxist View Of What Law Is The Foundation Of Society And Law 1. Marxists argue that control of the means of production is the foundation of society and law is a reflection of that dynamic. Do you agree? Discuss. Law is only a superstructure; in reality it only translates the interests of those who hold the reins of command in any given society; it is an instrument in the service of those who exercise their dictatorship in this society because they have the instruments of production within their control. For Marx there were two distinct classes in society, the ruling class, the owners of the means of production, the Bourgeoisie and the ruled class, the Proletariat . The quote, with which I begin this essay, clearly explains the Marxist view of what law is in a given society. For Marxists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Those in power within the law making bodies are quite clearly what Marx would consider bourgeois: they are highly paid, highly educated individuals who have a means of controlling how (and indeed what) laws are put in to place. Arguably it is unavoidable, to find ourselves in a situation, in which, we have a select group in society in positions of power, who can implement and change legislation. Most would argue that these people have been democratically elected, and chosen by democratic means. Marxists believe that the bourgeoisie have the control of law making bodies and thus make laws which are favourable towards their social class whilst penalising the proletariat. We can see this expressed in the Communist Manifesto Your very ideas are but the outgrowth of the conditions of your bourgeois production and bourgeois property, just as your jurisprudence is but the will of your class made in to a law for all . This statement highlights the Marxist belief that control of the means of creation of law, allows for the creation of laws which could be seen as coercive and controlling. An example of these, unjust laws, within our society which coincide with this Marxist view could be the under occupancy charge, more commonly known as the bedroom tax.
