In the movie Forrest Gump, director describes the historical development of America after the World
War II by showing the life of Forrest Gump. The movie's soundtrack is used based on the lead of

was written by Winston Groom. As a recipient of numerous awards, this movie's scores have been
considered as one of the winning ticket as the scores set the moods and tonalities in this narrative
film. The music connects itself with the historical timeline based on all adventures of Forrest Gump
experiences. Tom Hanks stars in the film and the music supervisor is Joel Sill (Scarlett, 2017).
In fact, the movie officially uses over thirty–one songs on its soundtrack. Most of the songs in this
movie are from American bands, therefore the content is with American style obviously. The plots of
the movie and songs played in the movie are blended ideally, which makes they all satisfy the

For myself, music inspires me, while some cannot stand to listen. You have used it as a hobby while
others use it as an escape. Music has played multiple roles in my life. It has become something that I
cannot live without. Music has been a hobby, an escape, but most importantly it has been a
connector for my grandpa and I. My grandpa listened to music every chance he had. It was a part of
his daily routine. His favorite artists were Johnny Cash, Boxcar Willie, and (my personal favorite)
Patsy Cline. He shared his favorite songs with me, some of those songs becoming my favorites as
well. Most of these songs are by Patsy Cline. You mentioned that you did not know who she was,
but by the end of this letter I hope you will want to take the time to listen to her music. Patsy Cline's
music has a very country and western vibe to it. Most of her songs are about love or the heartbreak
from love. Patsy Cline became a connector for my grandpa and I, even after he passed away in
2010. Whenever I listen to her, I feel as if he is still right next to me listening too. One of her songs
brings back memories of my grandpa driving me to school every morning. He would play I Fall to
Pieces every morning right as I would get into his car. I remember him raising up the volume loud,
but at just the right volume to where he could still hear me sing. Some days he would even play the
song twice because he wanted to hear me sing it again. My grandpa noticed that I had a talent for
singing. He encouraged me to sing more and he became my biggest supporter. I even told him I
wanted to be just like Patsy Cline and have songs of my own blasting through people's radios. He
reminded me every day that I could achieve great things with hard work and dedication. His

would you feel if every time someone was talking to you they called you stupid, I wouldn't like it.
Forrest Gump grew up his whole life getting bullied and picked on from kids and adults alike. That
didn't stop him from being who he was or what he wanted to do. Forrest was a troubled boy with
little intelligence, but a big heart. His mama knew this best of all. She always helped Forrest

What makes Jenny such a fascinating character is not only what she has dealt with at such a young
age but also the impact she has had on Forrest. He has been the only constant person in her life that

Valory and venturesomeness in the spirit of brotherhood
The visual and the realistic arts in Spielberg's best ever
The critics all over the world with their holistic approach endeavor to find the pros and cons of a 3
hour classic masterpiece directed and created by the gods of the theatrical arts. The modern world
tends to be sufficed by the major events and their results in History but no one understands that texts

Spielberg's realism acts here as an evidence to the genuine war situation as history cannot be trusted
through words but can only be trusted and felt through visuals. The plot of the movie is first set in a
boat as forty men reach a shore and are exterminated in a matter of seconds which shows the intent
to create a psychological effect on the minds of their audiences. Other monumental scenes are when
Private Caparzo takes charge of a German girl from a German family in order to protect her. Scenes
like these are illustrated to depict the intervensionalist side of US for a paternalistic cause similar to
their control of Philippines. Spielberg's idea of risking lives of eight men for one man has
overturned the idea of social Darwinism. As social Darwinism promotes the idea of "survival of the
fittest" that same idea is applied here as, Private Ryan's survival in the war should be dependent on
his fitness but instead the fitness of eight men are put on the line for his survival.
However, putting our superficial analytical approach beside and using our holistic approach, its
quite evident that Spielberg tries to make this war look like all American as he ignored the
contributions of other nations in the D Day landing on the Omaha beach specifically. On the other

Many people in this world have power and influence. Yet, there are few who have the traits needed
to be an incredible leader. These people who are positive leaders tend to leave strong impressions in
our minds for years or maybe even a lifetime. In choosing a movie with a character that portrayed a
strong sense of power and influence, and possessed the traits of a good leader, I remembered a
character that left an admirable impression in my mind. Saving Private Ryan is a perfect example of

Examples of coercive power would be dismissal, docking of pay, reprimands, and unpleasant work
assignments. Sometimes these types of punishments are stated in organizations main beliefs.
Captain Miller used this type of power whenever one of his troop members behaved improperly. For
example, in the movie when he heard one of his men say something he didn't approve of, he
reprimanded him. This also was vested in his title. Legitimate power is the third type of power. This
is also known as authority. This is when a subordinate believes the leader's power over him or her is
legitimate. Captain Miller definitely had this power because of his title. This type of power relates to
reward and coercive power. Since he is a Captain his gives him the legitimacy to reward and punish
his subordinates. At one point in the movie, Captain Miller instructed his army to plan an attack on
the enemy. This is a command that puts all of their lives at risk. Because that command came from a
Captain and not just another soldier, those who followed his orders most likely did so because of his
title. Expert power is the belief that some other individual has expertise in a given area and he or she
should defer to the experts judgement. This experience is what made the other soldiers look up to

Forrest Gump Historical Perspectives
Forrest Gump is a film based on a 1986 novel of the same name by Winston Groom and produced
by Robert Zemeckis. The film portrays several decades in the life of Forrest Gump, a slow–witted,
naïve but goodhearted man from Greenbow, Alabama. Gump witnesses these events and in some
cases influences these events to happen (Wikipedia 1). In the midst of the film Jenny Curan, her
childhood friend and lover, appears throughout the film also taking part in some of these events.
Forrest Gump revises popular memories of the 1960's and 1970's through its representations of
history (Wang 92). Gump takes place in many comical but important historical events along with
Jenny, such as, the Hippie Movement, the Vietnam War, and the Ping Pong Diplomacy. To begin
with, the Hippie Movement occurred during the mid 1960's. The Hippie Culture emerged mainly
among the youth population and their number one belief was their anti–sentiments towards the
Vietnam War. Hippies were known for the type of music they listened to, their way of dressing, their
openness to sexual revolution and for the use of marijuana, LSD and "shrooms". ... Show more

the U.S Army team and is then sent to play against the Chinese. Zemeckis demonstrates a clear
parallel to the term Ping Pong Diplomacy. This term comes from when the Chinese invited the
American ping pong team to play in Japan, for the World Table Tennis Championship in Beijing
(Berkowitz 40). The U.S gave its approval, since the President did want to improve relations with
Communist China (Berkowitz 40). Soon enough it was agreed that the American table tennis team
would also be used for foreign affairs. Many people do not know that the Ping Pong Diplomacy was

What is going on in the world today? Are there any similarities with how the world was run 65 years
ago? The 2002 HBO miniseries Band of Brothers was created and produced by a crew with
numerous amounts of well known Hollywood names. Two men with some of the biggest names in
Hollywood that backed this miniseries with their talent were Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. The
miniseries was released in 2002, only a year after the events of September 11th. The show was aired
on HBO during prime time hours, aimed at Americans who may not have had a strong sense of this

September 11th 2001, an act of terror that screamed a cry throughout the world, and will forever be
in the hearts of many. Hundreds of firemen and police officers gave their lives without thinking of
there own. They could think only of the others who were in danger. The brotherhood came after the
disaster. Millions of Americans came together to show there support for others who had been
directly affected. The attacks of 9/11 forever affected Americans in the fact that they were forever
united with a bond stronger than anything a terrorist could break. Band of Brothers shows that when
put to the test, the bonds Americans create amongst themselves is greater than any evil that is put in

when referring to the solidarity of his company "He's behind enemy lines, on D–Day.... Does he
holler help? No... he hollers 'I'm sorry lieutenant, I'm sorry, I goofed' My God it's beautiful when
you think of a guy who's that dedicated to his company, his buddies, that he apologizes for getting
