This document outlines a student's final major project (FMP) idea to create advertisements for an imaginary photography business. The student chose this project to develop their photography and image editing skills. It is important to the student to complete multiple high quality products on schedule and potentially use the finished work to promote their skills. The student cites photographer Chris John Millington's landscape and daily life photos as an influence, and plans to create a blog or portfolio. The goal is for viewers to be persuaded by the student's skills in photography and software and recommend or hire them. The student will learn new production techniques from online tutorials to create a mature yet fun magazine-style product in an informative style different from their photography business advertisements. Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

1. Tell me in no more than20 words, what is your
FMP idea?
Advertisementsfor an imaginary photography
businessgivingdetails and an idea of the work I
produce.
Why have youdecided to makeit? I havedecided togo for thisproject because I can
take it any direction thatI wish andend up with
plenty of different typesof advertisementsand
productseach showingoff skills I havelearnt such
as image manipulationandcreating professional
lookingpieces of work.
What aboutyourproject makesit importantto
you?
This project is importanttome because I want to
proveto everyoneand myself thatI can follow a
schedule to create multiple productsto a good
standardwithoutfalling behindand losingquality.
I would alsolike to potentially use the finished
work to advertiseand showoff my skills in both
photography andediting.
Outline someof the initial influences onyour
idea/work and somepotential research targets
(remember, research isn’t justa paperbased
activity)
My main influence wouldbe a
photographer/modelI havebeen following for a
few years now called ChrisJohnMillington. He
travels a lot andkeeps a portfolio of his art on an
Instagramfeed and his ownblog. I admire the
landscapeand daily life shotshe uploadsthe most
as they give the audience a viewpointinto a part
of the world they could otherwise never really go
see or maybeeven be informed of. I feel thata
blog of my own or a portfolioshowingoff the
photography skillsofmyself would be some good
contentto go with the self-advertisement project
I am currently planning.
What effect do youwant to haveon your
audience when they see yourproject?
I want the audience to be able to look at the
multiple medias I have producedand clearly see
thatI have a goodskillset in both photography
andwith software such asPhotoshopand
InDesign. My audience shouldultimately be
persuadedby my work andskills in photography
so muchso thatthey wouldrecommend me or
use me in their ownprojects.
Describe the tone/mood/styleofyourproject
[which productiontechniques/characteristicsare
youemploying?]
I want my magazine producttobe a matureyet
still funproductwhich is informative tothe
correct audience. I will be learning different, new
productiontechniquesfrom YouTubetutorials
andonline guides to help me create this product
to a higher standard. I will also be learning the
subject of the productas well as to help me
create the copy later onin the project. This will be
a different style andmoodcompared tothe rest
of my productsI plan to makeas it is meantto be
a different brandto my photography business.
2. This initial document provides you with an opportunity to reflect on, review and summarise
your progress and achievements through the first 7 units of the qualification and what you
plan to create in your final project. Think about what you know now, and what it means to
you, compared with what you knew and could do before you started the course, and how
this has influenced your choice of pathway and your FMP.
Why have youdecided to makeyour project in
this style?
I havedecided tocreate my project in this style
because I feel it wouldinterest me morethan
other projects andwould keep me motivated
throughouteachstage of production. I also feel it
is an easy way toclearly show my development
andskillsets to my audience.
