2. Robert Capa
Robert Capa was an American war photographer born to Jewish parents in Budapest 1913. Robert studied political
science in Berlin but was unfortunately driven away from the country due to the looming threat of the Nazi regime. He
in fact hated war but wanted to show the world how harrowing and brutal it can be by capturing the moments in war.
He gained his fame from a widely known spread of twenty six photographs taken during the Spanish Civil War. Capa’s
photos of the war were heavily featured in media around the world, more specifically a photo of a loyalist soldier falling
after taking a bullet wound. This photo earned Robert his fame and reputation while also becoming a symbol of the
haunting effects of war. Later on in 1946, Robert was sworn in as a United States citizen and joined a couple other
photographers by the names of Henri Cartier-Bresson and David Seymour. Together, they formed the first ever
cooperative agency of free-lance photographers.
Most of Capa’s work was done guiding younger, less experienced photographers and selling their work from this
moment until 1954 during which he volunteered to photograph the French Indochina war and was unfortunately killed
after stepping on a landmine.

The first quote, to me, highlights Capa’s passion and drive for his photography projects. Obviously, a date with said
woman would have been impossible to turn down and therefore he feels the same temptation with his photography
outings. The second quote further proves his hatred for war as it details how he feels about being unable to help any
soldiers wounded or dying from battle. It also outlines the risk he put his-self through by mere choice – this clearly tells
us that Robert was a very brave man. The last quote, much like the first, outlines Robert’s passion for his dangerous
photography and getting the message out to the world that war is a hell on Earth. It also tells us as the audience how
free he may have felt, traveling around the world to see so many events and meet so many different people.

4. Mario Testino
Mario Testino is a fashion photographer born in Lima, Peru in 1954. He moved to London in 1976 where he became an
apprentice at the studios of Paul Nugent and John Vickers. Mario was majorly inspired by the way photography masters
documented the society in their time. He stated that he tried to emulate the English (more notably the Mitford sisters,
Stephen Tennant and Cecil Beaton) in his work and soon enough got a commission to photograph a girl’s haircut for
British Vogue. Mario also tried to recreate his youth in pictures and eventually saw his work evolving.
Mario’s photo’s aim is usually to show the human side to objects and people captured in a moment – often featuring
extremely ‘alive’ subjects with an openness and intimacy with them. Mario’s career managed to up itself even more
when he was personally chosen by Princess Diana of Wales to conduct a photoshoot for Vanity Fair in 1997. Thanks to
this, more royals from across Europe heard about his skills and came to him for photoshoots.
Testino’s work is available to view in museums around Europe and America alike – not just photography but also
painting and sculptures.
Not only has Mario worked with fasion photography and art, but he has also captured the spirit and life of urban areas,
cities in the nihgttime and even private soirees. He was dubbed the "John Singer Sargentof our times" by one Terrence
Pepper who was working as a photography curator at the National Portrait Gallery in London. Mario has photographed
many royals too, including The Prince of Wales, The Dutchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry and the Kind and Queen of
the Netherlands.

6. Daniel Ernst
Daniel is a 29 year old freelance photographer from Frankfurt, Germany who works as a photo-creator
& story teller, projecting what he sees to us through photos. His passion is heavily based upon his love
for nature, the outdoors, lifestyle and adventure. Daniel's favourite places to go are the colder regions
of the north or the mountains, where he documents his daily life. He is completely self taught in his
profession and has been in the business for 5 years and edits his images in software to get the best out
of them.
Daniel regularly uses Instagram to share his experiences and photos with all of his fans. He currently has
around 602k followers, safely placing him into the category of "social media influencer". He began his
serious career in photography in 2014 while in New Zealand, he tells interviewers that he gained his
extra motivation and need for more knowledge in photography from the nature and landscapes around
him. His camera choice is not important to him as he believes anything is good enough, it's all in the
circumstances of the shot. Most of his work is made up of clients wanting special commissions and
requests for influencer work on his Instagram page.
To grow to where he is today, Daniel has used his Instagram and events that he has shot for to advertise
his work to the public and potential clients. Not only are his photos of landscapes and nature for
aesthetic reasons, but they are also there to raise awareness of the situation of the environment on
Earth. A lot of his other work is simply ever changing due to him needing to adopt and react to the
market, especially in the fast industry of social media.
