This document provides an introduction to computers including:
1. It defines a computer as an electronic device that takes in input from the user, processes the data, and provides output.
2. It outlines the basic parts and flow of a computer including input, processing, output, and storage.
3. It describes common input devices like keyboards, mice, and scanners and output devices like monitors, printers, and speakers.
4. It gives examples of how computers are used in different applications such as schools, offices, railways, hospitals, banks, and laboratories.

8. HOW DO COMPUTERS WORK?
• Input--This is when information is entered into a
computer. Some common input devices include
the keyboard, mouse and scanner.
• Output--This is the information that comes out of
a computer after it has been processed. The
information comes out on output devices such as a
printer or computer monitor.
• Processing--This is when the information is
handled by the computer’s brain, known as the
CPU (Central Processing Unit).
9. PARTS OF COMPUTER SYSTEM
Hardware
The hardware is the part of the computer
you can touch and see.
Mechanical devices in the computer
Software
Software is a part of the computer you
cannot touch.
Software consist of computer programs and
procedures that perform some tasks on your
1B-9 computer.
10. INPUT DEVICES
• The Mouse is the small
hand held device that
attaches to the
computer. It may have
two or three buttons. The
mouse is used to move
the cursor on the screen.
• The Keyboard is what
you type on, similar to a
typewriter.
11. INPUT DEVICES
• The Scanner similar to a
color photocopier is a
device that captures
pictures or documents,
so that they can be seen
or used on the computer.
• Joystick allows an
individual to easily move
an object in a game such
as navigating a plane in a
flight simulator

12. INPUT DEVICES
• A Camera connected to a
computer that allows anyone
connected to the Internet to
view either a still pictures or
motion video of a user or
other object.
• Microphone is a hardware
peripheral that allows
computer users to input
audio into their computers.

13. OUTPUT DEVICES
• The Monitor is the
display screen,
similar to a television
screen.
• Speakers output
data in audio format,
including music,
movie audio and
text-to-speech
output

14. OUTPUT DEVICES
• The Printer is a device
that puts what you have
. created on to paper.
• Projector is an output
device that can take the
display of a computer
screen and project a large
version of it onto a flat
surface. Projectors

19. I FIRDOUS YASMEEN thereby declare that as a part of
my B.Ed(course 2011-2012) the computer project is
successfully completed on the topic ”INTRODUCTION
TO COMPUTER”.
•With this project I have learnt how multimedia is useful
in imparting knowledge to students.
• Multimedia is useful to learn, to think effectively and
decision making...All this effort has been put by my
lecturer Ms Abida mam she has supported and guided in
making my project effectively.
