How To Describe A Jazz Concert
I attended the University of Indianapolis Jazz Ensemble on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. The
concert was located in the Ruth Lilly Performance Hall at 7:30p.m. The band played a total of
eight different songs, varying in the types of jazz. I perceived the overall mood of the whole
concert as energizing, powerful, and uplifting. I was also able to apply much of the knowledge that
I learned in class to the event. To begin with, the concertstarted out with a piece from Count Basie
called Hay Burner. This piece was done by a big band, a band with many instruments and
musicians, and that is exactly how it was performed by the University of Indianapolis Jazz

There are now approximately 170 various denominations that identify as Pentecostal. The
Charismatic movement, or neo Pentecostalism, was born in 1960 when Episcopal priest Dennis
Bennett, during the Passion Sunday service, both spoke in tongues and announced that he had
received baptism in the Holy Spirit. Although this event is associated with the official beginning of
the Charismatic movement, it must be noted that many other Pentecostals and even mainline
Christians are considered essential to the birth and spread of the movement. They include such
names as David du Plessis, Smith Wigglesworth, Agnes Sanford, Kenneth McAll, Presbyterian
pastor James Brown, and Lutheran minister Harald Bredesen. Those who embrace the beliefs and
practices of the Charismatic movement do not generally align themselves with any particular
mainline Christian denomination. However, Charismatics are found today in all the major
Christian denominations, especially in the Pentecostal, Lutheran, Episcopalian, and Catholic
Churches. The term Charisma means gift, so therefore Charismatics denote those that demonstrate
one or many of the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit.
B. The Beliefs of the Pentecostal and Charismatic Movements
Pentecostals and Charismatics have similarities in their theological and ecclesiological beliefs. Both

our collaboration with others that we free ourselves from the slavery of self absorption (para 30).

I believe that the routine was not well put together. A necessary component in the piece was an
overly cocky, in your face attitude. The piece was set to Whuteva by Remy Ma, which reflects
this attitude. The dancers however, did not deliver. They weren t exuding the confidence that
the piece demanded from them and because of this, the music overshadowed the performers. I
also disliked this piece because of the costumes. Keeping in mind that this piece was supposed to
have a loud, aggressive vibe to it, the costumes did not really portray that for me. Instead, they
were sloppy and distracting. They also got in the way of some of the steps, such as when the
dancers had to put their arms up in the air; their hoodies were flying all over the place. At some

IntroThe film Frankie Alice starring Halle Berry is based on a true story of a woman who is
living with a dissociative identity disorder. Set a number of years back (likely the 1970s or
1980s), this film provides the audience with a close up look at what it might be like to live with a
mental health disorder. While watching the film, I put a great deal of effort into understanding the
symptoms and episodes of the disorder, as the main character experienced them. Through my
findings, I have a greater understanding and appreciation not only of dissociative identity disorder
but also of mental health in general.
Mental Status exam diagnosis I would like to address each of the identities that appear in the
film so that I can go into more details about their traits as the paper progresses. The main
character or identity is Frankie who is an African American female in her early thirties who works
as an exotic dancer. One of the other personalities that she exhibits is a woman by the name of
Alice, who is southern racist. The final identity that appears much less often is a young child who
the psychiatrist comes to call Genius, as her very high IQ would suggest. The psychiatrist, Dr.
Oswald performed somewhat of a mental status examination when the main character Frankie came
into the psychiatric center. At their initial meeting, Dr. Oz asked Frankie questions that touched on
