The New Form Of The Electric Industry
Abstract The Norwegian parliament decided to restructure the electric power market following United
Kingdom s adoption of The Energy Act in 1990 to promote market competition and improve
efficiency. Nord Pool was founded in 1993 as a pool for electric power exchange and became the
world s first integrated exchange platform to trade electric power contracts. This paper presents a
summary of the several milestones in the development of the Nordic power market into its present
form. The financial derivative market, the day ahead market, the intraday market and the major market
participants in Nord Pool have been elaborated along with the mechanism used by Nord Pool to
determine the spot price through market auctions. Also issues on limitations in available transmission
capacity and congestion management in the form of price areas and buybacks have been discussed.
Index Terms deregulation, transmission system operator, congestion management, available
transmission capacity, day ahead market, price areas, buy back bids.
I. Introduction
THE early form of the electric industry, evolved around 1880 A.D. when electric lighting system
became prevalent. At this time, there was a significant competition between electric utilities for
customers. However, since the early 1900 s a general consensus developed that it is cheaper and
economical to produce power at large scale, and hence the electric power industry changed to a natural
monopoly structure. With a monopoly market

Applying Alfred Adler s Personality Theory to George W...
When choosing a famous person on which to do my research proposal on I decided on one of my
favorite presidents in my time. George W. Bush seemed to be the most real president we have had in
office since the 90 s. Next, I chose Adler s theory to apply to Bush do to the fact that is the theorist
that most closely applied to Bush s life. Let s start with some back ground about George W. Bush and
then apply Adler s theory. George W Bush was born on July 6, 1946. He was born in New Haven
Connecticut where his father was attending Yale University. George s father had served in World War
II as a Navy pilot ; he was using his GI bill like many other veterans to get back into the flow of
civilian life. (Wade, 1999) After his father ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

became the 43rd president of the United States on January 20, 2001. (Wade, 1999)
Now on to how Alder applies to George W Bush s life. First let s start with the where bush stands in
his family constellation. He is the first born of six children. (Wade, 1999) According to Adler
prediction the first child is the problem child. First born children are achievement orientated and feel
entitled to rank. Since they were born first they always prefer to be on top. (Frager Fadiman,
2013)According to research done parents are more anxious with their first born and therefore push
them harder then any of their other children. Research also shows that many first born s are type A
personalities. (Frager Fadiman, 2013) He tried hard all his life to stay on top in his parents eyes.
George has always been an achiever. When he was young he attended Camp Longhorn in the Texas
Hill Country. (Wade, 1999) Even at Camp he received the highest honor by receiving the Campfire
Lighter Award. You can only receive it once and you receive it by being an outstanding camper.
(Wade, 1999)Since his was young George has followed in his father s footsteps. He chose the same
prep school his father, Phillips Academy in Massachusetts. Both him and his father attended Yale
University. (Wade, 1999) He later attended Harvard to get his masters

Harpers Ferry Essay
The historical battle of Harpers Ferry was a pivotal point during the Civil War. While the battle was a
clear victory on the Confederate front, Union forces could have changed the outcome with little
efforts. This paper analyzes the battle with the intent of identifying how the application, utilization, or
availability of intelligence assets could have resulted in an alternate outcome. With the proper use of
All Source Intelligence analysis on the Union front, the Battle of Harpers Ferry would have played out
completely different. While the results of this battle may not have changed the outcome of the Civil
War, it would have affected the timeline of follow on battles. The structure of this paper is simple, we
cover the basics of the battle and follow up with relevant facts on how proper use of terrain analysis
and troop capabilities affects the outcome of the battle.
During September 9th of 1862 Confederate forces led by Gen. Thomas J. Stonewall Jackson
commanded three divisions with the goal of seizing Harpers Ferry. At the time Harpers Ferry was a
Union occupied town bordering Maryland and Virginia. For the Union front this was a main arsenal
holding area that provided support to other forces. For the Confederates, they saw it as a major supply
line allowing logistics to travel down south or north through the use of rail road systems. COL Dixon
Miles, the Union commander at Harpers Ferry, received intelligence about the movement of enemy
forces towards his location.

Essay on Gettysburg
Gettysburg was the turning point in the American Civil War. Back in the day s before animation. More
importantly Gettysburg was the climatic clash between the two major American cultures of their time:
the North and the South. A climax of a conflict between two cultures with such vastly different ideals
that they could not coexist in one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
When looking at the causes of the Civil War, and eventually the Battle of Gettysburg, one must
understand the differences between these two cultures. The Confederacy had an agricultural economy
producing tobacco, corn, and cotton, with many huge plantations owned by a few very rich white men.
These owners lived off of the labor of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Abraham Lincoln, the commander and chief of the Union forces, along with many other Northerners
believed that Slavery was not only fundamentally wrong, but it was a great humiliation to America.
One can see that with these differences a conflict would be inevitable, but not many had predicted that
a full blown war would break out. One did and after three bloody and costly years for both sides we
come to the date of July 1, 1863.
The stage was set for an immense struggle at Gettysburg after the May 1863 Battle of Chancellors
Ville, when General Robert E. Lee made the historic decision to divide his already out manned and
outgunned Army of Northern Virginia. This apparent violation of basic strategic principles was
undertook at great risk, and only for the reason that a great payoff was possible. By creating 3 corps
from his 75,000 men, Lee made it possible to accomplish more tasks in the same amount of time. The
three commanders were, in theory, to be supported by the strategic reconnasaince of Jeb Stuart s
cavalry a role in which he failed dismally (and fatally) in the days and weeks leading up to
Gettysburg. Lee decided to take the offensive by invading Pennsylvania via Maryland in an attempt to
end the war quickly by threatening the Northern capitol and waging total war on the Northern citizens.
Unfortunately for Lee, Stuart s joyriding (Jeb delighted in riding complete circles around the Northern
armies and hence all of the public recognition and

Bayou Descriptive Writing
Burning Man on the Bayou The pungent saltiness of the bayou is like the nostalgic smell of gasoline,
repulsive and nauseating but irresistible. Looking in one direction I could swear that I was in the
midwest. Cow pasture is stretched out for miles. Taking in the landscape completely, however, is like
looking at my childhood bedroom that I shared with my sister. Although this is one place, there are
two worlds here, separated into two perfectly portioned pieces. This land is a shared space between
deep swamps and flat plains, with a near perfect line drawn down the center separating the two. The
cows and alligators own this land for most of the year. The only time they are taken away from their
home is for a week in the spring. The fertile land is transformed into T Bois Blues Festival, an event

Howard Roark And Egoism
Thematical diversity of the Howard Roark s architectural style expresses his world view. Self
sufficiency of man s spirit (608), genius and independency of one s self are ideals forming the basis
for his views. Such views have always been strived after by each person because they are admirable
and right. But on no account, on average, can they be associated with egoism. So why does Howard
Roark call them egoism? Egoism as an ethical category has an extensive contextual interpretation.
Definition of the term provides a fertile ground for a distortion of its meaning. The custodian of the
masses moral health engrains false rendering reshaping convictions of the majority. Results are visible

The trusted medium, Roark, has natural rights to praise his idea, as he is one of the men who took first
steps down new roads armed with nothing but their own vision (679). The essence of Roark s views is
independence of man s ego and mind free from the conformity. It is the key not only to mental
harmony but also to further development of society, as the moving force is the creative faculty which
is not selfless... self motivated, self generated (680). While the main criterion of egoism is personal
worth, mental capabilities, society will be sorted out from imitators who copied imitations (46). The
idea will be followed by the brainpower in varying degrees. Results will vary from the appearance of
the beginnings of the self respect to the forming of self sufficient man s spirit. While it will be turned
into reality in the absolute form among the creative minority , far calmer forms will appear among the
mediocre people. Definitely, qualitative changes are on the way. Due to the individualists who fight

As evidenced by the figures mentioned earlier, enjoying television shows were largely a communal
affair between the 60s and 80s. As it progressed from being an activity enjoyed as a community (in
community centres) to being an activity enjoyed with one s family (at home), we see a shift in viewing
habits, as television watching gradually became a more personal activity, as the average amount of
people which the average person viewed television with became smaller.
The number of channels available for viewing also increased, thus granting greater autonomy to
television viewers. In 1963, there were 2 channels Channel 5 and Channel 8, which broadcasted
programmes in English and Chinese respectively. By 1985, there were four channels; Prime 12 and
Premiere 12 were added, designed to offer public service and minority language programming. Thus
there was a significant increase in the variety of choices which television viewers had at their disposal.
With greater choice in selecting what they wanted to watch, the masses definitely became less united
in the programmes they watched, as there were now specific channels to cater to a variety of needs,
thus contributing to the gradual shift from collectivism to individualism in Singapore society.

Typical Selling Approach And Societal Marketing
TYPICAL SELLING APPROACH AND SOCIETAL MARKETING
INTRODUCTION:
Marketing is usually understood as a bridge between the companies (offering products and services)
and ultimate customer or consumers. Through marketing sales of goods and services take place
between customer and a company in exchange of money. Companies generally use typical or
traditional selling approach for their offerings. Traditionally company gather knowledge of and target
the needs and wants of a particular group of people and then market their products and services to that
targeted group and then through their sales professional sell their goods and services to the people of
targeted group (William, 2011). This is the general practice of all most all the companies and it is
referred to as typical selling.
Typical selling approaches has become absolute now as world is changing at a very fast pace. The
globalization has created a very strong competitive environment. Therefore now companies have
started thinking differently in order to cope up with the competition in the market and corporate
sectors. Companies have started switching to societal marketing approach from typical selling
approach. This helps them to gain not only competitive edge over the other companies offerings but
also provide maximum customer satisfaction and contribution towards the well being of a society.
SOCIETAL MARKETING APPROACH:
The societal marketing approach entails the concept that a business should make the decision about

The Effect Of Patient Education On Adolescents With Patients

What is the effect of patient education on adolescents with cardiac disease transitioning to adult care?
Adolescents with heart disease have many health issues with a lifelong need for cardiology follow
ups. The transition that young adults go through when changing into adult care is not easy or simple
for the nurses and the patients as well as their families. Many adolescents don t know about their own
cardiac history whether it is their diagnoses, catheterization procedures, surgery or their medications.
Caring for adult patients can be difficult for pediatric nurses. As adult patients age in the pediatric
setting, the risk for complications increases exponentially which can complicate their care. Even
though these patients are adults and in the pediatric setting, nurses can be there to provide them with
the training that can help increase the patient s independence when they move on to adult cardiac care
(Anton, 2016, p.e1).

A food stylist prepares the frozen beef patties for the camera. The filming crew first spends two hours
setting up lights that will flatter the burger. The stylist begins burning flame broiling stripes into the
hamburger patties by using a special branding iron. The stylist then paints the stripes with a dark steak
sauce. Next, the stylist sprinkles salt on the burger so that when it passes over the flames, natural
juices will rise to the meat s surface.(Par.2)
Once branded, retouched, and juiced, the director films the burgers from different angles as they move
along a conveyor belt broiler. When the meat is broiled, blood rises to the surface in small pools. The
stylist dabs at the bubbling blood with a Q tip so that is doesn t look undesirable to TV viewers.

Before the patty passes over the flame a second time, the stylist maneuvers a small electric heater

Julius Rosenberg Research Paper
As a child, I remember my relatives offering me a piece of gum and ending up finding out that it was a
shocking toy! Surprisingly, Ouch!, I said. Comparing that shock to an electric chair, could you
imagine the pain? In 1953, Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, who shared the same admiration for the
Communist party, were both executed with an electric chair. Due to their involvement with the Soviet
Union and transferring information from their connections during World War II, they were caught and
executed. One hundred years ago, Julius Rosenberg was born in New York City. His parents
immigrated from Russia. He was so fascinated by politics that he joined the Young Communist
League as a teenager. When he attended college, he studied electrical engineering and soon after
became an engineer for the United States Army. Three years before Julius was born, Ethel was born on

milgrams study into obedience
Describe and discuss two factors that Milgram found effect obedience? Refer to empirical evidence in
your answer Milgram s original study into obedience came under to a lot of scrutiny because of both
mythological and ethical problems. This meant that the validity of Milgram s study was put into
question. Following the study were further investigations to see what might change and explain the
results that Milgram found, both by Milgram himself and other psychologists. Variations to his study
throw up interesting theories to the situational and dispositional factors that might affect levels of
obedience. One variation of Milgram s study investigated the role that buffers may have on the level

The ecological validity in this experiment is greater than that in Milgram s variation; this means that it
can be generalised to everyday situations and can explain why people s obedience may increase if the
level if perceived authority and status increases and when the opposite effect occurs. To conclude,
situational factors as seen above have been found to affect the level of obedience that somebody
shows. However, there are important dispositional factors that need to be taken into consideration.
People with a authoritarian personality may have a disposition to have a higher level of obedience.
Milgram found that the among the people who gave the highest shocks did indeed have a authoritarian
personality and blamed the leaner for the obedience. Crutchfield lead findings into conformity (1955);
he found that conformers tend to have a high authoritarian views and were generally submissive.
Obedience involves complex social roles this explains the link between personality, conformity and
obedience. Privately a participant may not want to administer the shock, but publically when told to
do so is submissive and

Math Of Cheerleading Essay

The physical nature of the sport cheerleading, demands a grasp on the knowledge of how both the
forces that are exerted and those one experiences will affect one s performance in a stunt or trick.
Physics and mathematics can be found everywhere in cheerleading: 8 counts direct a dancing routine,
weight distribution determines a three level pyramid. The highly organized nature of cheerleading,
with all of its formations and different groupings of, in Columbia River s case, members based on

second, and s0 is the initial height or 4 feet. Thus we have: h(t)= 16t^2+30t+4 as a model for the
height.
Note that we disregard complicating factors such as air resistance, spin, because the uncertainty and
unpredictability of these factors leads to a much more complicated equation than needed.
(a) Will the flyer reach 20 feet?
Let h(t)=20 and solve:
20= 16t^2+30t+4
16t^2+30t 16=0
Using the quadratic formula, x=( b±√(b^2 4ac))/2a , we can solve for t: x=( 30±√(〖30〗^2 4( 16)(
16)))/(2( 16)) The discriminant, x= b±√(b^2 4ac) , is 124 so there are no real solutions. The flyer will
never reach 20 feet with the given initial velocity.

Natural Disasters Caused By Earthquakes
Natural disaster such as earthquakes can often come and go in unexpected time. Earthquakes can be
dangerous depends on how hard the magnitude of the earthquake hits. The problem is earthquakes can
damages and kills many people and there s no way out of it but human can learn how to protect
themselves from it. For example, human can move to other places, countries that have a lower chance
of earthquake or stay away from buildings and houses when earthquakes happen. Earthquakes is
caused by the movement of tectonic plates under the Earth s crust when they are pushed against each
other. Earthquake is directly danger to everyone because the shakes can causes building to collapse
and kill people. Building can be damage by shaking it a little. The cause of earthquakes have to deal
with the geological fault, landslides, nuclear testing and volcanic activity. When a rock that is
underground, breaks along a fault, an earthquake will happen. As the two parts of a rock rub against
each other roughly, it is pushing against one another which causes pressure to build up. Sometime the
earth has foreshocks which scientists can t tell until the earthquakes get bigger and stronger because it
varies from small earthquakes to big one. Mainshocks can continue for weeks, months, or even years
after the mainshock. The earth has four major layers like inner core, outer core, mantle and crust.

There are many reasons why Claudette Colvin has been pretty much unknown. She hardly ever told
her story when she moved to New York City. In her new community, hardly anyone was talking about

When asked why she is little known and why everyone thinks only of Rosa Parks, Colvin says the

Argumentative Essay On Invasive Species
Humans are faced with the issues caused by invasive species and must make a decision. What should
we do? Should we step in and rid the ecosystems of these harmful species? Or should we let nature
solve its own problem? I believe humans must take action in stopping these invasive plants from
destroying ecosystems, attracting more invasive animals, and harming the native wildlife. By taking
action, people will eliminate the problem in a shorter, more effective manor. One article states, Since
people can now travel around the world much more easily than they ever could before, it has become
easier to introduce invasive species by accident, (Alien Attack, paragraph 5). This demonstrates how
quickly species can spread with the help of humans. People need to eliminate these species faster in
order to save ecosystems. Overall, humans need to remove all invasive species before they take over
the ecosystems of the world. Humans must also take action because the invasive species may attract
more alien animals. The article entitled Pesky Pets states, Now, with no natural predators, goldfish are
rapidly populating in the Vasse River. They are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An article states, If they do manage to survive in the wild, domesticated animals take resources from
native species, (Pesky Pets, paragraph 4). This exemplifies the damage that invasive species cause to
native plants and animals. An invasive plant could poison native animals, which would unbalance the
ecosystem. Some may believe that if humans step in they will cause even more unbalance. However,
this is not a credible statement because those people are not taking account of the amount of
disturbance that will occur if we don t do anything. The amount of damage will be miniscule to the
amount of damage that would be upon the ecosystem if nothing is done. Therefore, humans must take
action before any harm falls upon the native plants and

The Cigar By J. L Freeman Analysis
In a parallel universe where the consequences for not being a Christian in America is much more
apparent than our own: Religion, for thousands of years, has dulled man kind s senses to see the lovely
light of logic. It has, in point of fact, been the pinnacle of many wars, and caused many a bloodshed; it
has seized our minds and, as a master puppeteer, pulled the strings of fate. Yet the question remains,
and a grand question it is: in America, which subjects and/or events should the influence of religion
cease its reign? The opaque answer, still wet with Heraclitus like metaphysics, had never been so clear
as J.L. Freeman stood before a jury and said thus unto it: and if this be the case, then all Seraphs be
damned to Hell! Yet, to be clear, this story does in fact have an origin, hidden, of course, by the
primitive man with his puzzling, primitive philosophy!
A single score and three years ago, at the age of fifty one, J.L. Freeman began his day. Perhaps he
smoked a cigar, downed espresso, continued his writing while looking at the natural, hostile world for
inspiration. And as he inhaled the cigar, smoke bonding to his throat, tongue and mind, he sat upon
that wonderful and expensive black leather seat of comfort (Yes! Perfection!). Then, as sudden as the

Persuasive Essay On Russia s Independence
Kosovar Independence Forty five percent of Kosovo s population is in poverty, according to the World
Fact Bank. Kosovo is a self declared independent country in the South Balkans in Europe, it wants
independence, but Serbia believes that it is an autonomous province of Serbia. It declared
independence in 2008 and there are a lot of reasons why, but there are also some reasons why it should
be part of Serbia. Kosovo should be independent because Serbians have committed genocide against
ethnic Kosovar Albanians, other countries have broke free from Serbia, thus Kosovo should be able to

And the UN is just that, an organization of nations. In the UN, there is a security council made up of 5

independence, and the US, UK, and France say yes to the issue. China and Russia believe that Kosovo
should become independent. One reason is that Serbia has been protected by Russia since WWI when
it helped it gain independence. Russia and China are allies, so China agrees with Russia on the issue.
On the other side, the US, UK, and France are all in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO),

Nicolas Steno s Success
One particular scientist who changed the world as people knew it, or as people had known it was
Nicolas Steno. This is true because most of his work and studies centered upon the past. He is most
remembered for his work in the study of organisms. Steno studied geology and anatomy,
revolutionizing the way people knew the world and themselves in their own time. A Danish scientist,
born in 1638, he converted to Catholicism in 1667 and later became a priest. He was simply fascinated
with the world that God had created and wanted to explore it at its core. In fact, he kept a close
relationship with God and was later appointed by Pope Innocent XI as both Vicar Apostolic of Nordic
Missions and Bishop of Titopolis.A man of both faith and science, Steno ... Show more content on

He truly embodies the latin phrase Fides et Ratio. This saying emphasizes the importance of both faith
and reason and their importance in the Catholic worldview. Steno really does prove that faith and
reason do not compete with each other for both attention and allegiance. Rather, proper faith and
proper reason are, in fact, truly complementary. Nicolas Steno embodies this teaching because
throughout the time that he was making all of these revolutionary contributions to science, becoming
the founder of geology, he was before everything else in in his life, above all, a true man of faith and a
man of God. Saint Nicolas Steno will forever have a lasting impact on the Catholic Church and the
broad field of geology. The contributions this man made to both science and to God are really
immeasurable. Science, at his core, really means knowledge, this knowledge comes from none other
than God, the Creator. People today need to realize this just as Nicolas Steno did. Steno fully accepted
and even embraced the fact that everything that he was studying had come from God. This even
encouraged his pursuit of furthering himself in the Catholic Church. Steno was a true saint, and calls
on those following him to be the same, using both faith and

Religion In Elizabeth Gaskell s Mary Barton
Religion plays a huge role throughout Elizabeth Gaskell s Mary Barton. The significance of religion is
experienced in all the characters and its consequence especially on John Barton, after he murders
Harry Carson, is immense and consequential. During the first half of the novel, John Barton is the
noble hero fighting for the working class, despite going through numerous sufferings throughout his
life. However, by the end of the novel he is no longer a noble hero but rather a deplorable person that
has fallen from grace. This paper will examine the effects of religion in the downfall of John Barton
and visualize the possible outcome if those effects were absent, or at the very least, minimal. John
Barton, the father of Mary Barton, is one of the key characters in the novel. It is important to note that
when Elizabeth Gaskell was writing this novel, she envisioned him as the main character. In her letter
to Mrs. W. R. Greg early in 1849, she wrote, John Barton was the original title of the book. Round the
character of John Barton all the others formed themselves; he was my hero, the person with whom all

The Rise Of Hezbollah
Origin and Rise in Influence The origins of Hezbollah can be traced from the residual effects of
oppression the Shiite community faced by Christians and Sunni elites (Masters and Laub, 2014).
However, the tipping point came after the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982, that same year
Hezbollah was formed with the help of Iran; ideologies stemming from the ones displayed during the
Iranian Revolution (Masters and Laub, 2014). Hezbollah gained legitimacy when they repelled the
French and American peacekeepers from Lebanon then ultimately caused by the withdrawal of Israeli

The civil war was the catalyst that nurtured Hezbollah enough so that their influence would transform
form just a thorn on the Lebanese government side to a political party having their own seat at the

however, from political infiltration, guerilla force capability, a media empire to global organized crime
syndicates (Wiegand, 2009). Boasting some of the most well trained operatives in their military

Nation created a distinction between their political and military factions, which allowed them to avoid
the United Nation s terrorist list and similarly, the British government only blacklisted their military

s ambition to see their Islamic Republic come to fruition; actions whether violent or politically are the

know about successful organisational change under complex conditions? Fullan exemplifies
organisational behaviours in which implementation has been successful and where attempts have

Essay On Staying In Oakland
Staying in Oakland will be the best solution financially. Oakland has a booming economy that
continues to grow at a rapid pace. Many new companies setting up headquarters in Oakland, such as
Uber, are making the prices of living in Oakland rise higher and higher because many rich tech people
are moving in rapidly. As a result, Oakland is becoming a much nicer place than it once was. By
staying put, the Raiders would benefit from more expensive tickets due to Oakland becoming a

Unwind Essay

Theme: How a leader can influence others?
Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to do
it. Dwight D. Eisenhower. In a place, where Unwinding is permitted for saving lives and possible,
people must take a stand against this rebellion. The novel, Unwind by Neal Shusterman s, showed
commitment and leadership roles throughout the novel. This type of leadership and commitment came
from Connor, Roland, and the Admiral. They showed leadership roles in their own different ways
throughout the book. This novel says that a leader can influence others by motivation and inspiration,
persuasion, and strongly believing in a vision.

The best leadership moment was in part seven, when Risa and Connor return to the Graveyard to run
it. The Admiral is too weak, having refused to take a new heart from an Unwind, and Connor stepped
in. Connor delivers a powerful speech that sets course for becoming the best leader in this novel.
Overall, Connor influenced others in a positive way and can be described as a great positive leader in
this book, Unwind.
A leader can also influence others in a negative way by using the technique, persuasion. This leader
who influenced others in a negative way was Roland. Shusterman gave Roland to have great
persuasion; and, Roland persuaded anyone who was in his way to step aside as he persevered to
become the biggest and greatest leader of all. For example he made up lies about the Admiral saying
that the Admiral used Unwinds just so he could get certain parts. He killed Emby so he could have his
hair. Also the Admiral s teeth and the scars on his face were from unwinding. Roland is not a killer,
but a fighter. He is said to be strong, brave and a good leader. He s manipulative and uses people for
his own personal gain. He is also intimidating and has a tendency to lose his temper quickly. For
example in part 2, Connor and Risa met Hayden, Mai, and Roland all in the safe house. Roland was
controlled everything, telling everyone what to do and when to eat. Roland hated Connor from the

Spatial Rhythm and Poetic Invention in William Carlos...
William Carlos Williams was fascinated by the ways in which living organisms and inert matter
occupy space how they move in it, or cannot move, are cramped or allowed to roam freely and how
the space inside organisms and matter is charted, perceived, and manipulated. Williams s
preoccupation with actual space in the material world is paralleled by his formal experimentations
with the placement of words on the page. Without invention nothing is well spaced (P 50), Williams
writes at the beginning of Sunday in the Park, raising the question, what does well spaced mean for
Williams? How can the world and how can poetry be well spaced? The aim of this paper is to look at
the relationship between Williams s use of what I will call ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the opening lines of Sunday in the Park, Dr. P. s walk through the park becomes a metaphor not
only for sexual intercourse but for poetic production:

(to me) at rest, which I approach concretely The scene s the Park upon the rock, female to the city
upon whose body Paterson instructs his thoughts
The link between walking, coitus, and creativity is part of a larger framework in Sunday in which
biological processes and various kinds of movement through space what I am calling spatial rhythms
are used to explore the nature of poetry.
One only has to look at the configuration of words on the page to know that for Williams well spaced
involves not regularity but constant change and surprise. Williams s manipulation of space, both on
the page and in the Park, is, in this section of Paterson, the main tool used to create the structure that
M. L. Rosenthal and Sally Gall have described as characteristic of the modern poetic sequence, a
structure that is not predominantly narrative or dramatic, but lyrical, a progression of specific qualities
and intensities. [1] This rhythm corresponds to a cyclicity of mood that can be described as manic
depresive or, to use Rosenthal s and Gall s term, cyclothymic.[2] Corresponding to this constantly
changing tone is a space that is

Shakespeare s Use Of Imagery In Sonnet 116, By William...
Imagery is used in almost all literary works. Authors use imagery to keep readers or listeners
interested in the story. This is a very common way of writing and is found a lot in poetry. It is an easy
way to have the reader feel more involved in the story. Imagery is used through similes and metaphors
in the works of Shakespeare, Shakespeare, and Spenser.
A lot of William Shakespeare s imagery was used to describe love and how the affected the different
relationships. In Sonnet 106, Then in blazon of sweet beauty s best of hand, of foot, of lip, of brow, I
see their antique pen would have express d even such a beauty as you master now. (Shakespeare 275).
In this quote, Shakespeare goes into detail about how this one particular girl has an unique beauty. Ha
also explains how he has never seen such a beauty like hers. Shakespeare also says in Sonnet 116, Let
me not to the marriage of true minds admit impediments. Love is not love which alters when it
alteration finds, bends with the remover to remove. (Shakespeare 276). The first sentence of the quote
is basically explaining that not all marriages of relationships come easy, they all have obstacles. The
second of the quote is explaining that love doesn t changed when something in the relationship
changes, it will stay the say no matter what. Shakespeare is known for imagery in terms of explaining
love and relationships, it is very well represented in a lot of his sonnets.
Edmund Spenser is also known for using imagery to

A Colored Man Drinking From A Water Fountain
Imagine living in a world where the color of your skin mattered. The photograph I chose to analyze is
one that struck me hard due to the harsh reality of our country s past. This popular photograph often
seen in textbooks is a result of segregation in American history. Captivating is one word I would use to
describe the photo of a colored man drinking from a water fountain. The photograph is in black and
white and helps magnify the importance this photo has today. We can look at this photograph from our
past and for many years to come, try to answer the many questions of why segregation existed. The
gross injustice in treating others of different races poorly will forever haunt American history and
leave white Americans feeling humiliated.
This time in our history is incredibly important to understand. For a great amount of our nation s
history, our people have not lived as equals. It was a foundation in our creation that enslavement and a
hierarchy would be created. Because of our ancestors, white was deemed as the supreme race and all
other races would be subordinate. It started with the enslavement and removal of the Native
Americans who lived in this country long before the English, French and Spanish arrived. Then,
following the example set forth by the Spanish in Latin America, the English began importing African
slaves. The goal in this being for them to do the manual labor that was so important for the
development of the United States. However, with

Arguments Against Government Censorship
Government censorship is a huge issue, particularly when it comes to media messages. There is a fine
line that must be walked when deciding what should be censored. However, it boils down, in my
opinion, to one major consideration; is what is being made public going to harm or endanger anyone?
If the answer to that is no then I don t think that the government should censor it. However, I do think
that we have seen examples, recently right here in Tuscaloosa where some kind of government
censorship should have been exercised.
January 10th, the morning after the National Championship a man jumped out of some bushes and
held a gun to a bank tellers head and then proceeded to take the employees inside hostage. The media

In 1644 John Milton published a prose titled Areopagitica which opposed censorship. While he was
not fighting for freedom of press he was fighting more for the freedom of the printing press. At the
time anything written had to be approved by Parliament before it could be published, he was against
that censorship and stated that not knowing was more dangerous than knowing. Milton s work which
pre dated the issue of the freedom of the press quite a bit laid the groundwork for opposing censorship.
I believe he had a point, when you allow too much censorship you essentially put all the power in one
group of people s hands, the ones deciding what to censor. On the other hand, when you ban
censorship then a system of checks and balances exists. For example, the new President, Donald
Trump has been discussing censoring specific federal agency websites, specifically the EPA s website
on climate change. That sort of censorship is bad. But because of where we live and the fact that we
are unaccustomed to censorship everyone began calling him out on it and, for now at least, the website

History of Quidditch
The sport quidditch was first played in 2005 at Middlebury College by Harry Potter fan, freshman
Xander Manshel. Xander had been looking for something he could start that showed his appreciation
for his love of sports and his love of J.K. Rowling s best selling book series, Harry Potter.
Once Xander got a team together it s popularity started to grow around campus and six more teams
were formed. In 2006 quidditch players told their friends about the newest sport and quidditch s
popularity grows to more campuses. In 2007 the first quidditch world cup is held between Middlebury
and Vassar community colleges. Quidditch becomes one of the most popular clubs on campuses.
Quidditch continues to grow in popularity up until 2010 when the USQ (United States Quidditch) is
established as the first nonprofit quidditch organization.

has a long history of it s own. In 1664, the Dutch surrendered their power to the British. King Charles

Nationalism And Sectionalism In The 1800s
In the early 1800s, the North began to industrialize and the South relied more heavily on growing
cotton. At the same time, a rising sense of nationalism pulled people from different regions together.
Nationalism is a feeling of pride, loyalty, and protectiveness toward your country. Sectionalism was
when people had a feeling of pride in a small region or part of a nation. The War of 1812 sent a wave
of nationalist feeling through the United States. Representative Henry Clay, from Kentucky, was a
strong nationalist. After the war, President James Madison supported Clay s plan to strengthen the
country and unify its different regions. Nationalism and Sectionalism were present during the early
1800s. The people who carried out Nationalism had pride in their whole nation and the people who
carried out Sectionalism had pride in part of a nation but, not the nation as a whole. Nationalists based
their actions off trying to benefit the whole nation, the idea of nationalism was created to increase
revenue in America. Sectionalism became a problem because Americans either saw themselves as
southerners or northerners and the country became very divided. Sectionalism was one of the major
reasons that the civil war began because of the divide between the south and the north. Sectional
sentiments challenged nationalism, but the latter remained strong among the American people.
Nationalism also prevailed due to the ideologies and actions of the country s leaders in the executive

The Gnostic Gospels By Elaine Pagels
The role of women in human affairs, religious beliefs, and social practices are highly concerned by
scholars when women involved religious life. God the Father/God the Mother , third chapter in the
book The Gnostic Gospels by Elaine Pagels, examines major distinctions between Orthodox
Christianity and Gnostic community in the concerns of the roles and characterizations of women by
relating scriptural views and texts. While sharing a common topic of women s role in religious life,
Images of Women in Early Buddhism and Christian Gnosticism is an article in the book Buddhist
Christian Studies by Karen Christina Lang that discusses the major images and examines four
categories of women whose participated in the religious activities of both Buddhist and Gnostics
communities. In God the Father/God the Mother , Pagels compares the views of women between
Orthodox communities and Gnostic sources. The Orthodox Christianity continuous the convention of
Trinitarian terms from Jewish description of God that God is considered as masculine and never

Research Paper On St. Aquinas
This semester has felt as being in a roller coaster, despite of some of the theories having similarities,
one cannot said that one theory is the same to another. For the reason, I personality felt as every time
that there was a new theory introduced, I tried to see how it applied to my life. As the different
theories were presented in our Ethical Theory class, the theory that stood out and reignited the most is
St. Thomas Aquinas of the personalist /natural law ethics. St. Thomas Aquinas natural laws theory
developed from a non Christian that was Aristotle. Despite many of many Catholic theologian did not
agree with St. Thomas Aquinas due to his agreement with Aristotle, but St. Aquinas would become
one of the most influential theologian in Christianity history. His theory on natural law started to first
defining law in general. For example, the key aspect of his definition is that, law is something
pertaining to reason. (Aquinas, p.3) This was a key point that was a development from what St.
Aquinas had understood from Aristotle that not mattering what the issues were there had to be law that
had to refer to reason, as characteristic human function. Also, there are some essential to a law that St.
Aquinas recognized which are an ordinance of reason, directed to the common good, made by one
who has care of the community, and promulgated. Furthermore, the characteristic human function,
Aquinas begins to develop a more concrete theory of his own in regard to laws that is,

Abstinence Or Protection
Should We Teach Abstinence or Protection? We ve all heard the saying the best protection from
sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancies is abstinence. But should abstinence be the only source
of protection that students in today s American society should be learning? Reproduction is embedded
in our genes; it is one of the four most important traits being a living organism. Is it in their favor to let
teens and young adults have their first time more confusing and irresponsible when it comes to
intercourse? So many questions pop up when you think about which method would be superior. There
are many measures that can be taken to prevent AIDs and pregnancies. STDs, STIs, and young
pregnancies are becoming more prevalent in todays younger ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The main topics you hear these days when it comes to sex are about how someone has a strong pullout
game or about a pregnancy. It is a falsehood throughout our generation that pulling out during sex and
not ejaculating into a woman s vagina will prevent pregnancies. These are not the things that our
younger generation should grow up with, they are having unprotected sex because they were never
taught the consequences of being unprotected. As ads get sexier and celebrities get sluttier, the word
sex is getting to become more tempting. The article The Mass Media Educate Youth About Sex by
Jane Brown and Sarah Keller states, Typically, those who own and create communications media have
been more concerned with attracting audiences and selling products than they have been promoting
healthy sexuality. Our generation has become embedded with erotic thoughts and actions. Anna
Quindlen mentioned, When I was in high school, at the tail end of the sixties, there was a
straightforward line on sex among my friends. Boys could have it; girls couldn t. A girl who was not a
virgin pretended she was. It was almost unthinkable to talk about sex in earlier generations, or even
mention other aspects of sex instead of the typical man women intercourse. In the article dating back
to the year 2000 by Jane Brown and Sarah Keller they acknowledge, Sexually transmitted diseases

  • 2. The New Form Of The Electric Industry Abstract The Norwegian parliament decided to restructure the electric power market following United Kingdom s adoption of The Energy Act in 1990 to promote market competition and improve efficiency. Nord Pool was founded in 1993 as a pool for electric power exchange and became the world s first integrated exchange platform to trade electric power contracts. This paper presents a summary of the several milestones in the development of the Nordic power market into its present form. The financial derivative market, the day ahead market, the intraday market and the major market participants in Nord Pool have been elaborated along with the mechanism used by Nord Pool to determine the spot price through market auctions. Also issues on limitations in available transmission capacity and congestion management in the form of price areas and buybacks have been discussed. Index Terms deregulation, transmission system operator, congestion management, available transmission capacity, day ahead market, price areas, buy back bids. I. Introduction THE early form of the electric industry, evolved around 1880 A.D. when electric lighting system became prevalent. At this time, there was a significant competition between electric utilities for customers. However, since the early 1900 s a general consensus developed that it is cheaper and economical to produce power at large scale, and hence the electric power industry changed to a natural monopoly structure. Bush seemed to be the most real president we have had in office since the 90 s. Next, I chose Adler s theory to apply to Bush do to the fact that is the theorist that most closely applied to Bush s life. Let s start with some back ground about George W. Bush and then apply Adler s theory. George W Bush was born on July 6, 1946. He was born in New Haven Connecticut where his father was attending Yale University. George s father had served in World War II as a Navy pilot ; he was using his GI bill like many other veterans to get back into the flow of civilian life. (Wade, 1999) After his father ... First let s start with the where bush stands in his family constellation. He is the first born of six children. (Wade, 1999) According to Adler prediction the first child is the problem child. First born children are achievement orientated and feel entitled to rank. Since they were born first they always prefer to be on top. (Frager Fadiman, 2013)According to research done parents are more anxious with their first born and therefore push them harder then any of their other children. Research also shows that many first born s are type A personalities. (Frager Fadiman, 2013) He tried hard all his life to stay on top in his parents eyes. George has always been an achiever. When he was young he attended Camp Longhorn in the Texas Hill Country. (Wade, 1999) Even at Camp he received the highest honor by receiving the Campfire Lighter Award. You can only receive it once and you receive it by being an outstanding camper. (Wade, 1999)Since his was young George has followed in his father s footsteps. While the battle was a clear victory on the Confederate front, Union forces could have changed the outcome with little efforts. This paper analyzes the battle with the intent of identifying how the application, utilization, or availability of intelligence assets could have resulted in an alternate outcome. With the proper use of All Source Intelligence analysis on the Union front, the Battle of Harpers Ferry would have played out completely different. While the results of this battle may not have changed the outcome of the Civil War, it would have affected the timeline of follow on battles. The structure of this paper is simple, we cover the basics of the battle and follow up with relevant facts on how proper use of terrain analysis and troop capabilities affects the outcome of the battle. During September 9th of 1862 Confederate forces led by Gen. Thomas J. Stonewall Jackson commanded three divisions with the goal of seizing Harpers Ferry. At the time Harpers Ferry was a Union occupied town bordering Maryland and Virginia. For the Union front this was a main arsenal holding area that provided support to other forces. More importantly Gettysburg was the climatic clash between the two major American cultures of their time: the North and the South. A climax of a conflict between two cultures with such vastly different ideals that they could not coexist in one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. When looking at the causes of the Civil War, and eventually the Battle of Gettysburg, one must understand the differences between these two cultures. Abraham Lincoln, the commander and chief of the Union forces, along with many other Northerners believed that Slavery was not only fundamentally wrong, but it was a great humiliation to America. One can see that with these differences a conflict would be inevitable, but not many had predicted that a full blown war would break out. One did and after three bloody and costly years for both sides we come to the date of July 1, 1863. The stage was set for an immense struggle at Gettysburg after the May 1863 Battle of Chancellors Ville, when General Robert E. Lee made the historic decision to divide his already out manned and outgunned Army of Northern Virginia. This apparent violation of basic strategic principles was undertook at great risk, and only for the reason that a great payoff was possible. By creating 3 corps from his 75,000 men, Lee made it possible to accomplish more tasks in the same amount of time. The three commanders were, in theory, to be supported by the strategic reconnasaince of Jeb Stuart s cavalry a role in which he failed dismally (and fatally) in the days and weeks leading up to Gettysburg. Lee decided to take the offensive by invading Pennsylvania via Maryland in an attempt to end the war quickly by threatening the Northern capitol and waging total war on the Northern citizens. Looking in one direction I could swear that I was in the midwest. Cow pasture is stretched out for miles. As evidenced by the figures mentioned earlier, enjoying television shows were largely a communal affair between the 60s and 80s. As it progressed from being an activity enjoyed as a community (in community centres) to being an activity enjoyed with one s family (at home), we see a shift in viewing habits, as television watching gradually became a more personal activity, as the average amount of people which the average person viewed television with became smaller. The number of channels available for viewing also increased, thus granting greater autonomy to television viewers. In 1963, there were 2 channels Channel 5 and Channel 8, which broadcasted programmes in English and Chinese respectively. By 1985, there were four channels; Prime 12 and Premiere 12 were added, designed to offer public service and minority language programming. Thus there was a significant increase in the variety of choices which television viewers had at their disposal. With greater choice in selecting what they wanted to watch, the masses definitely became less united in the programmes they watched, as there were now specific channels to cater to a variety of needs, thus contributing to the gradual shift from collectivism to individualism in Singapore society. N306: Theory, Reasoning, and Research in Nursing Shenandoah University: Eleanor Wade Custer School of Nursing Dr. Lorena Jung, PhD, RN Rachel Feltcorn What is the effect of patient education on adolescents with cardiac disease transitioning to adult care? Adolescents with heart disease have many health issues with a lifelong need for cardiology follow ups. The transition that young adults go through when changing into adult care is not easy or simple for the nurses and the patients as well as their families. Many adolescents don t know about their own cardiac history whether it is their diagnoses, catheterization procedures, surgery or their medications. Caring for adult patients can be difficult for pediatric nurses. As adult patients age in the pediatric setting, the risk for complications increases exponentially which can complicate their care. Even though these patients are adults and in the pediatric setting, nurses can be there to provide them with the training that can help increase the patient s independence when they move on to adult cardiac care (Anton, 2016, p.e1). By taking action, people will eliminate the problem in a shorter, more effective manor. One article states, Since people can now travel around the world much more easily than they ever could before, it has become easier to introduce invasive species by accident, (Alien Attack, paragraph 5). In the opening lines of Sunday in the Park, Dr. P. s walk through the park becomes a metaphor not only for sexual intercourse but for poetic production: Outside outside myself there is a world, he rumbled, subject to my incursions lt;BLOCKQUOTE lt; A (to me) at rest, which I approach concretely The scene s the Park upon the rock, female to the city upon whose body Paterson instructs his thoughts The link between walking, coitus, and creativity is part of a larger framework in Sunday in which biological processes and various kinds of movement through space what I am calling spatial rhythms are used to explore the nature of poetry. One only has to look at the configuration of words on the page to know that for Williams well spaced involves not regularity but constant change and surprise. Williams s manipulation of space, both on the page and in the Park, is, in this section of Paterson, the main tool used to create the structure that M. L. Rosenthal and Sally Gall have described as characteristic of the modern poetic sequence, a structure that is not predominantly narrative or dramatic, but lyrical, a progression of specific qualities and intensities. [1] This rhythm corresponds to a cyclicity of mood that can be described as manic depresive or, to use Rosenthal s and Gall s term, cyclothymic.[2] Corresponding to this constantly changing tone is a space that is ... • 32. Shakespeare s Use Of Imagery In Sonnet 116, By William... Imagery is used in almost all literary works. Authors use imagery to keep readers or listeners interested in the story. This is a very common way of writing and is found a lot in poetry. It is an easy way to have the reader feel more involved in the story. Imagery is used through similes and metaphors in the works of Shakespeare, Shakespeare, and Spenser. A lot of William Shakespeare s imagery was used to describe love and how the affected the different relationships. In Sonnet 106, Then in blazon of sweet beauty s best of hand, of foot, of lip, of brow, I see their antique pen would have express d even such a beauty as you master now. (Shakespeare 275). In this quote, Shakespeare goes into detail about how this one particular girl has an unique beauty. Ha also explains how he has never seen such a beauty like hers. Shakespeare also says in Sonnet 116, Let me not to the marriage of true minds admit impediments. Love is not love which alters when it alteration finds, bends with the remover to remove. (Shakespeare 276). The first sentence of the quote is basically explaining that not all marriages of relationships come easy, they all have obstacles. The second of the quote is explaining that love doesn t changed when something in the relationship changes, it will stay the say no matter what. Shakespeare is known for imagery in terms of explaining love and relationships, it is very well represented in a lot of his sonnets. Edmund Spenser is also known for using imagery to ... • 33. A Colored Man Drinking From A Water Fountain Imagine living in a world where the color of your skin mattered. The photograph I chose to analyze is one that struck me hard due to the harsh reality of our country s past. This popular photograph often seen in textbooks is a result of segregation in American history. Captivating is one word I would use to describe the photo of a colored man drinking from a water fountain. The photograph is in black and white and helps magnify the importance this photo has today. We can look at this photograph from our past and for many years to come, try to answer the many questions of why segregation existed. The gross injustice in treating others of different races poorly will forever haunt American history and leave white Americans feeling humiliated. This time in our history is incredibly important to understand. For a great amount of our nation s history, our people have not lived as equals. It was a foundation in our creation that enslavement and a hierarchy would be created. Because of our ancestors, white was deemed as the supreme race and all other races would be subordinate. It started with the enslavement and removal of the Native Americans who lived in this country long before the English, French and Spanish arrived. Then, following the example set forth by the Spanish in Latin America, the English began importing African slaves. The goal in this being for them to do the manual labor that was so important for the development of the United States. However, with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Arguments Against Government Censorship Government censorship is a huge issue, particularly when it comes to media messages. There is a fine line that must be walked when deciding what should be censored. However, it boils down, in my opinion, to one major consideration; is what is being made public going to harm or endanger anyone? If the answer to that is no then I don t think that the government should censor it. However, I do think that we have seen examples, recently right here in Tuscaloosa where some kind of government censorship should have been exercised. January 10th, the morning after the National Championship a man jumped out of some bushes and held a gun to a bank tellers head and then proceeded to take the employees inside hostage. The media kept live coverage going, spilling their guesses about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1644 John Milton published a prose titled Areopagitica which opposed censorship. While he was not fighting for freedom of press he was fighting more for the freedom of the printing press. At the time anything written had to be approved by Parliament before it could be published, he was against that censorship and stated that not knowing was more dangerous than knowing. Milton s work which pre dated the issue of the freedom of the press quite a bit laid the groundwork for opposing censorship. I believe he had a point, when you allow too much censorship you essentially put all the power in one group of people s hands, the ones deciding what to censor. On the other hand, when you ban censorship then a system of checks and balances exists. For example, the new President, Donald Trump has been discussing censoring specific federal agency websites, specifically the EPA s website on climate change. That sort of censorship is bad. But because of where we live and the fact that we are unaccustomed to censorship everyone began calling him out on it and, for now at least, the website is staying ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At the same time, a rising sense of nationalism pulled people from different regions together. Nationalism is a feeling of pride, loyalty, and protectiveness toward your country. Sectionalism was when people had a feeling of pride in a small region or part of a nation. The War of 1812 sent a wave of nationalist feeling through the United States. Representative Henry Clay, from Kentucky, was a strong nationalist. After the war, President James Madison supported Clay s plan to strengthen the country and unify its different regions. Nationalism and Sectionalism were present during the early 1800s. The people who carried out Nationalism had pride in their whole nation and the people who carried out Sectionalism had pride in part of a nation but, not the nation as a whole. Nationalists based their actions off trying to benefit the whole nation, the idea of nationalism was created to increase revenue in America. Sectionalism became a problem because Americans either saw themselves as southerners or northerners and the country became very divided. Sectionalism was one of the major reasons that the civil war began because of the divide between the south and the north. The Kentucky Derby Is Decadent And Deprave Analysis When New Orleans rhythm and blues musician James Booker recorded his hit single Gonzo in 1960, he most likely had no idea that the title of his single would be used, almost a decade after its release, to refer to the unabashedly radical style of journalism that Hunter S. God the Father/God the Mother , third chapter in the book The Gnostic Gospels by Elaine Pagels, examines major distinctions between Orthodox Christianity and Gnostic community in the concerns of the roles and characterizations of women by relating scriptural views and texts. While sharing a common topic of women s role in religious life, Images of Women in Early Buddhism and Christian Gnosticism is an article in the book Buddhist Christian Studies by Karen Christina Lang that discusses the major images and examines four categories of women whose participated in the religious activities of both Buddhist and Gnostics communities. For the reason, I personality felt as every time that there was a new theory introduced, I tried to see how it applied to my life. As the different theories were presented in our Ethical Theory class, the theory that stood out and reignited the most is St. Thomas Aquinas of the personalist /natural law ethics. St. Thomas Aquinas natural laws theory developed from a non Christian that was Aristotle. Despite many of many Catholic theologian did not agree with St. Thomas Aquinas due to his agreement with Aristotle, but St. Aquinas would become one of the most influential theologian in Christianity history. His theory on natural law started to first defining law in general. For example, the key aspect of his definition is that, law is something pertaining to reason. (Aquinas, p.3) This was a key point that was a development from what St. Aquinas had understood from Aristotle that not mattering what the issues were there had to be law that had to refer to reason, as characteristic human function. Also, there are some essential to a law that St. Aquinas recognized which are an ordinance of reason, directed to the common good, made by one who has care of the community, and promulgated.
