Skull Fracture Research Paper
Skull Fracture, Pediatric
A skull fracture is a break or crack in one of the bones that make up the skull. Skull fractures range in
severity. They are usually more serious if:
They happen with an injury to the brain, spine, nerves, or blood vessels.
The fractured bone has moved out of place. Bones that have moved can push into the brain or nearby
bones.
The fractured bone is at the back or bottom (base) of the skull.
Most children with a skull fracture make a full recovery.
CAUSES
This condition is usually caused by a forceful injury to the head. This can happen from:
A fall.
A hard, direct hit (blow) to the head.
A car crash.
RISK FACTORS The following factors may make your child more likely to fracture ... Show more

Confusion.
Weakness or numbness in one side or one area of the body.
DIAGNOSIS
This condition is diagnosed with a physical exam and imaging tests, such as:
X rays.
CT scan.
MRI.
TREATMENT
Most skull fractures heal without treatment in 1 6 months. Others require surgery to correct the
position of any bones that have moved. Surgery may also be required to correct injuries to other areas
of the head or spine. Medicine may be given for symptoms like headaches or nausea.
HOME CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Give or make sure that your child takes over the counter or prescription medicines only as told by
your child s health care provider.
Watch your child closely while he or she heals. Watch for any new symptoms or changes in your child

I Had Been Out Of The Hospital For Two Weeks Essay
I had been out of the hospital for two weeks. I was staying on track with my medicine, with the help of
my husband Bryon. I have been dealing with depression for a while now and I eventually ended up
being emitted to the hospital. I decided to take time off work for a while until I got back in the swing
of things. Me and my husband Bryon decided that was the best thing to do. Every day Bryon would
make sure I took my medicine in the morning before he went to work and every evening when he got
back. That s what my psychiatrist recommended we do. I had been suicidal, and they wanted to make
sure didn t try anything to take my life. Bryon removed all of the sharp objects from the house, like
knives and scissors. I didn t feel like all of that was necessary, but I could see why he did that with the
state of mind I was in before I was emitted to the hospital. Battling with severe depression took a toll
on me. There was no definite cause for my depression either. It s like no matter how good things were
going in my life, there would always be a little bit of sadness that lingered. I was feeling confident that
I was going to really get better and more stable. It is just so hard sometimes to find the medicine that
worked. It is like trial and error. My medicine would have to be adjusted to get me feeling the best I
could, but I was hoping that this was a real fix. I mean I knew that I would not always be happy
because in life we all go through ups and downs, but I just wanted to

Ridgway Argumentative Essay
It takes a lot to rip apart a town. It takes a lot to ravage a community, particularly one as tightly knit as
Ridgway, Pennsylvania. Nestled snugly at the southeastern edge of Allegheny National Forest,
Ridgway s population has dipped to just below four thousand in recent years, though in its 191 years
of settlement, it s never once been called home by more than roughly six thousand people at once. Its
proximity to the forest attracts huntsmen and hikers alike, but unless one were actively looking for the
town the square mileage of which comes in at just over two and a half miles, total it would be
remarkably easy for Ridgway to not make a blip on someone s radar at all. It s small, out of the way,
and most of all, quiet a recipe for insignificance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This time, the victim was a man in his early twenties, and he was discovered, wrapped haphazardly in
a plastic tarp identical to the one the first body had been found in, in the bushes outside of the one
high school in the county. At first, the county police were skeptical that the murders had been
committed by the same people, due to the fact that the victims were of different genders and had been
disposed of in entirely different locations, but they were eventually forced to admit that all signs
pointed to their sleepy little Pennsylvanian town having a potential serial killer on their hands. When
the story broke in the local newspaper, the killer had received an official pseudonym: the Ridgway
Ripper. Later, when the man responsible for bringing so much tragedy to such a small town was
apprehended and a face and a name were given to this pseudonym, the majority of the town continued
to call him the Ripper. No one would dare say it out loud, but everyone knew that it was because it
was simply easier that way. It was easier to pretend that something else, something inhuman, could be

Human Exploitation Of Host Immune Responses By Parasites...
Abstract
The broadly defined parasites have evolved a survival mechanism, which is evading the host s
immunity and obtaining multiple methods for successfully eluding the host immunity. The tactics used
in this mechanism is complex promoting persistence and completion of the life cycle. This research
investigates the interaction between host immunity and parasite. Paul Ehrlich, a German physician and
scientist, about 100 years ago commenced the concept of immune evasion (Damian, 1997). The
concept of exploitation of host immune responses by parasites has been reinforced by new data on its
first known examples, especially the immune dependence of schistosoma egg excretion. The infection
caused by the parasite leads to a variety of outcomes that is the removal of parasite or the death of the
host. DAMIAN, R.T. (1997) Parasite immune evasion and exploitation: reflections and projections ,
Parasitology, 115(7), pp. 169 175.
Introduction
Most studies have shown that most species are of parasitic form interacting with the host s immune
system. Subsequently, the host arranges their immune system to avoid infections by the protozoa.
However, the host s immune system is not always maximally efficient. The fact that the parasite
interacts with the host s immune system illustrates that they have evolved to reach such a successful
counteraction against the host s immunity. This research aims to shed light on the mechanism of
parasitic evasion, which leads to parasitic

Portrayal Of Women In Dracula
Bram Stoker s Dracula has been adapted into film version i.e Francis Coppola s Dracula in 1992
which is claim as the faithful adaptation to its literary source. This film contains several scenes
straight from novel; however in representing the main female character is differ. The portrayal of
women in Dracula s novel and Coppola has received a lot critical attention especially the main female
character (Mina Murray). Thus, this ppresent research tries to reveal crucial differences in the
portrayal of Mina Murray. Feminist Literary Criticism Theory is the basis analysis to provide the
general view points of women in novel and film. Besides, the Binary Opposition is applied to clearly
showw the differences between reprentation of Mina. The result shows that Mina s characters is very
contradictory character. She regarded as traditional and modern, powerful and powerless, passive and
active, among other characteristics.

the role of women they occupied in society. In Victorian era, women depicted as dutiful wife,

Examples Of Logical Opposition
V. Logical Opposition (Square of Opposition) Opposition is the relation existing between propositions
having the same subject and predicate but different quality or quantity or both. There are four types of
opposition: contradiction, contrariety, sub contrariety, and sub alternation. While quality and quantity
are absolute properties of proposition, logical opposition is considered as a relative property of
proposition because opposition happens only when we relate two propositions with the same subject
and predicate. Types of Opposition A. Contradiction Contradiction is the opposition existing between

Symptoms Of Microcephaly Associated With Zika Cases Essay
Abstract
The Zika outbreak of 2015 shined new light on a once underestimated and lesser known tropical
disease. With the immense effect on pregnant mothers, it quickly became an issue of global concern.
This review will address the concern of the specific symptom of microcephaly associated with Zika
cases in pregnant mothers. Additionally the pathology of Zika transmission as well as possible
treatments will be discussed, as they are all important issues to investigate given the relevance of Zika
in global public health. This outbreak was one met with confusion and a mass of misinformation, so
this review seeks to clarify many of the principles that were misrepresented to the public, and for the
research direct ideal focus for future studies.
The Zika Virus: A Review
Zika virus was first discovered in the Zika Forest of Uganda. It originated a virus of primates that was
later found to infect humans. The virus is characterized by its single stranded RNA
structure(Arnaoutakis Padhya, 2016). Due to a lack of attentions, the virus went relatively unstudied
until it started to affect the global community through one of the largest epidemics on record.
Since the first reported case of Zika virus in the 1950s, the virus has affected millions of people. There
have been 2 documented outbre (Ochler, et. al, 2016)aks of the virus one in France in 2013 and the
second in South and Central America in 2015. The most recent outbreak alone contributed to 1.3

Catastrophism
for uniformitarianism can be seen in rocks, sediment, and even in fossil records (Baker, 1998). The
earth has different layers, and different things are buried within those layers. People who adhere to the
old earth secular view believe that different layers of rock and sediment were formed over many years.
Since some areas of the earth have many different layers, it makes sense that it would have taken a
long time to form. Other evidence exists with fossils (Baker, 1998). There are many different species
of animal that currently live on earth. However, fossils show evidence of other species that are not
currently alive. In addition, fossils are buried in patterns that correspond to different time periods
(Baker, 1998). They hypothesize that species change over time through the process of evolution.
Different fossil records provide evidence for the theory of biological evolution (Baker, 1998).
Although ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rather than assuming that physical laws always operated as they currently do, some people think that
the earth operated differently in the past. More specifically, they think that there were frequent major
catastrophes, and that those instances are what caused fossils and rocks to form in the way they did
(McClure, 2009, p. 191). Since such catastrophes happened relatively fast, it has led some people to
conclude that the earth is not as old as scientists think it is (McClure, 2009). Catastrophism also offers
an explanation for fossil records. Different species may be in different geological strata as a result of
major floods (McClure, 2009). Rather than being in a specific layer of rock as a result of living during
a time period, some people think that fossils are in certain layers of rock as a result of major floods.
Water levels rise and fall during floods, which is what some people have offered as an explanation for
why there are different layers of rock and different fossils that correspond to

Lord Of The Flies Character Analysis Essay
Everyone, at least as a child, has had a fear of some sort of beast or monster. People usually like to
refer to animals as beasts because they aren t human and the animals are not able to think for
themselves. In fact this is the opposite because humans are actually beasts because they are actually
able to think for themselves and have do things according to what they are thinking. In Lord of the
Flies there are many different topics and themes that are gone over but one of the main themes is that
people can go insane and become savages under certain circumstances. A lot of characters in the book

decided on how they should handle the monster. A while after Jack left there was an awkward silence
and then, ...Simon stood up and took the conch from Piggy, who was so astonished that he remained
on his feet... (pg. 146). No one else decided to say anything so Simon took it upon himself to say
something that might make a difference. Simon is very quiet and prefers to keep to himself but he
decided that saying nothing wouldn t make change anything. This relates to people because a lot of
people in high school would prefer not to talk in front of class because they are in fear of looking
foolish in class. The same things happens to Simon because after everyone rejects Simon s idea he
then, ...retired and sat as far away from the others as possible (pg. 147). As soon as his idea is rejected
he starts to coward back and he realizes that he embarrassed himself in front of everyone. A lot of
Highschool kids can relate to this feeling because after a presentation usually kids try to make
themselves the least noticeable so that no one has a chance to humiliate them. Some people have

Getting to Know Hiromi Uehara
She often wears a strange, (but seems to be her personal characteristic), hairstyle to get on stage. She
always has a cheeky smile, swinging her body freely while her fingers dance on the piano. She is
intelligent and mischievous with endless musical whimsy. She is the pianist, the composer that brings
all the surprise to us, along with her fiery rhythm and creative keyboard sound. Her name is Hiromi
Uehara.
She is born in Shizuoka, Japan, started learning by the age of six. In addition to classical techniques,
she also started to learn jazz techniques and participated in improvisation trainings. At the age of 12,
she started to perform on stage and by the age of 17, she met Chick Corea and got invited to play with
him in the next day concert.
In Hiromi s career, Hiromi has a lot of inspiration from all jazz musicians, such as Chick Corea and
Oscar Peterson. Here is a recording of Hiromi Uehara and Chick Corea duet on Hiromi s piece Old
Castle, by the river, in the middle of a forest (2007). In comparison of these two great jazz musicians,
Corea insists on his lyrical jazz style while Hiromi is punchier and more rhythmic. (Chick Hiromi,
2008). This combination allows Hiromi and Corea to present their strengths, surprise audiences with
their delicate musical ideas.
Here is another recording of Hiromi performing I got rhythm ; she dedicated this work to Oscar
Peterson. Just like her words in an interview with Anil Prasad in 2008 I really have to respect the song

Alexander Hamilton: Hero of America
Bang! Alexander Hamilton s dead! Hamilton s dead! Aaron Burr shot him! But why...
Alexander Hamilton was the Secretary of the Treasury from 1789 to 1795. People know him because
his portrait is on the ten dollar bill. Some people even know that he was shot by Aaron Burr. Even so,
most people do not know much else about him and do not think his life was very interesting. Recently,
a Broadway play about Hamilton came out. It stars Lin Manuel Miranda and has been a tremendous
success. It has caused people to learn about the struggles in Hamilton s life, how he was a hero, and
what stands he took. Alexander Hamilton had a tough childhood, stood against Britain, and then as

How do the Poets Explore the Theme of Death in Educating...
Tone is very important in poetry as it plays a role in the way the characters within the poem are
portrayed, the way we perceive the writers intentions and it sets the mood when reading the poem.
This can clearly be seen with mother in a refugee camp as the poem overall has a very hopeless and
harsh tone and this can be seen when the narrator of the poem say, She soon would have to forget in
the context that the death of the child is inevitable and they are hopeless as they cannot defy destiny.
This is also harsh as the poet does not cover up death with euphemisms but is very straight forward
saying that there is no other choice other than to forget. When it comes to describing the mother it
becomes a very gentle and caring tone and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The pleading tone can be seen in the poem when Dylan Thomas says, Curse, bless, me now with your
fierce tears, I pray. This comes as plea to his dad to fight death and not give in and this also
emphasizes Dylan Thomas s desperation for his father to wake up and not give in. On the other hand
with Remember the tone develops as you go through the poem and it goes from a commanding tone to
one that is accepting towards the end and this can be seen when Christina Rossetti says, Better by far
you should forget and smile than that you should remember and be sad. This shows us that the
character actually cares about the feelings of the person that loves her as she would rather that they
forget and be happy than for them to remember and be sad. This development of tone comes as a
natural due to the fact that the nature of the poem is a sonnet. Sonnets tend to convey a problem in the
first octave and find the solution to that problem in the last sestet and this can clearly be seen in
remember as she is telling them to remember but then she realizes that she cannot hold on to them
forever and actually sets them free. As for E for L the poem on a whole is provocative and angry and
this can be seen with multiple and ruthless acts of murder that he commits with no mercy at all. These
include I squash flies against the window and I pour the gold fish down the bog these acts of murder
emphasize how dangerous, psychotic and deluded this person really is. They also highlight

Four Groups of Malnutrition
According to Jelliffe (1996), Malnutrition is globally defined and distinguished into four subgroups:
Undernutrition: the pathological state resulting from insufficient nutrition intake over a period of time;
Overnutrition: the pathological state caused by excess nutrition intake over an extended period of
time; Specific deficiency: the pathological state resulting from a relative or absolute lack of an
individual nutrient; Imbalance: the pathological state resulting from a disproportion among nutrients
in relation to requirement. (p. 8) Tappenden et al. (2013) stated that regardless of body mass index,
hospitalized patients typically suffer from undernutrition due to a variety of reasons. These include,
but are not limited to: NPO diet order for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, inadequate oral food
and beverage intake due to illness induced poor appetite, meal disturbances, inadequate assistance at
mealtimes, reduced ability to chew or swallow, unnecessary hold of enteral feeds due to residuals or
drug administration, as well as gastrointestinal symptoms often caused by medications (Tappenden et
al., 2013). Interrupting feeds due to drug administration contributes significantly to malnutrition in
hospitalized patients, as holding feeds can be cumulative and prolonged, therefore patients often do
not receive nor maintain their recommended goal rate, subsequently compromising their nutritional
status (Williams, Leslie, Leen, Mills Dobb, 2013). Patients may also

The Unknown History
The genre of historical fiction is loved by many authors as it allows them to use the past as an
inspiration while writing a fictional story that will captivate the readers. In the novel In the Skin of a
Lion by Michael Ondaatje, the rich history is explored throughout the novel with the theme of the
unfair treatment of immigrants, the construction of both the Bloor Street Viaduct and the Queen Street
Waterworks and the character of Rowland Harris. By looking at the historical facts in the novel, we
can see why it s considered a historical fiction novel, which most readers fail to recognize; this is

In the novel, Ondaatje names him Rowland Harris and he s a secondary character in the story.
However, that being said, Rowland Harris is portrayed as a visionary, a dreamer and an achiever. The
author does a great job of bringing this character in the story all while maintaining some great
accomplishments in his life. Roland Harris envisioned a lot of aspects that Toronto now has. During
Harris and Patrick s conversation at The Queen Street Waterworks, Harris says It turned out I was
dreaming about projects for the city that had been rejected over the years. Wonderful things that were
said to be too vulgar or expensive, too this too that. (Ondaatje 237) Roland Harris was a great architect
for the city of Toronto, he was a visionary and wanted to make the city of Toronto grow. This is
directly linked to Toronto s history and Ondaatje uses that secondary character who the readers don t
see a lot throughout the book to talk about someone who dreamed big for Toronto. Harris even says to
Patrick I mean the Bloor Street Viaduct and this building here are just a hint of what could have been

The College Republicans Of Liberty University
Final Critique
The client that my group chose to work with was the College Republicans of Liberty University. Since
this semester was during presidential election cycle, the client was happy to have our assistance with
helping promote the club. During this semester, many challenges occurred that both the club and our
group faced; however, we were able to accomplish the goals that the client wanted to accomplish from
our project.
Goal and Organization at Initial Development of Project
At the beginning of the semester, our group spoke with the client to develop several goals that they
wanted our group to achieve throughout this semester. After speaking to the Vice Chairman John
Wood (2016), one of the main tasks that he wanted our group to assist the club with accomplishing
was to use the election to boost engagement within the club for both club meeting attendance and also
visibility on social media. Since the media was covering he election for a large part of the day, Wood
discussed the idea that since the media is covering the election for a large part of the day, politics is on

Persuasive Essay About Electric Cars
Is it possible to visualize not having to stop to refuel cars with gas? Is preserving the environment for
future generations important? Is safety a factor when choosing a car? It is the year 2017 yet, abundant
products like gas powered cars are generating toxic pollutants that are detrimental to our habitat. Not
to mention, the tremendous price tag and safety, uncertainties we experience pertaining to these types
of vehicles. To illustrate this dilemma, approximately each home in the United States occupies one car
fueled by gas. Flying cars like in the cartoon show The Jetsons do not exist; nonetheless, there is a
superior solution. People should switch to Electric transportation because they provide ample benefits
to our society such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Considering electric autos use electricity for power, it is eco friendly. Specifically, it is energy efficient
and operates with fewer natural resources. The fact that these vehicles do not use gas fuel means that
there is no pollution emitted like climate harmful greenhouse gasses or nitrogen oxide. Electric cars
use a lithium battery to operate, thus preserving hundreds of dollars every year. By way of example, I
know that from my own personal experience that I am tired of spending mass amounts of money on
gas. In addition, these categories of batteries are rechargeable and can regenerate conveniently at
home or at a local charging station. As a result, the batteries alone allow spending less money and
using fewer resources.
In particular, electric automotive designers gravitate towards fixating on green materials. In fact, the
interiors frequently integrate recycled materials such as second hand home appliances, used car parts,
and plastic. BMW; for instance, manufactured an ecological brand with their i3 model. As a matter of
fact, they recycle old lithium batteries to recharge at home. Seeing that electric autos use electricity
instead of gas fuels helps to protect the atmosphere. For those reasons, there is obviously less excuses
on the continuation of harming our environment.
Electric cars possess less moving parts; for this reason, they have fewer maintenance requirements and
expenses. Without a doubt;

MAT222 Week 3 Paper
Radical Formulas
MAT 222 Intermediate Algebra

Radical Formulas
This week we learned about Radical Formulas and how this can be applied in our everyday lives.
Radicals seem very complicated at first, but because we have learned so much already, it is just taking
what we already know and apply it to the problem that we have been assigned. I have been asked to
work a problem 103 and 104 on pages 605 and 606 of our math book Elementary and Intermediate
Algebra. We are going to break out each step to show how we came to our answer. By breaking out
our problems, we will have a better understanding of the solving radical formulas.
We will start working problem 103 on page ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For a boat with a displacement of d pounds and a sail area of A square feet S is determined by the
function S = 16Ad 2/3. a) Find S to the nearest tenth for the Tartan 4100, which has a sail area of 810
square feet and a displacement of 23,245 pounds. b) Write d in terms of A and S .
Step one
Starting with our formula.
Step two
Here we have plugged in the values into our formula. When solving we do order of operations first
and we will solve exponents first.
Step three
Complete the multiplication
Step four
This is our solution
Now we will solve the second part of the problem.
Step one
Step two
We will divide by 16A
Step three
Step four
Raise all the parts to the 3/2 power.
Step five
The (16A)3/2 has became the reciprocal to the 3/2 power
Step six
Here is the solution for d.
To conclude we showed how use the Radical Formulas in each problem that we were working. We
broke out each step so that we would have a better time understanding how one would answer this
question. We have shown our work in hopes that other will be able to follow these same steps to find
their solutions. We now have a better understanding of the Radical Formulas.

Wolfpacket Job Application Essay
I would like to be Editor in Chief because frankly, I ve been wanting this since freshman year. Over
the past three years, I have become really passionate about the Wolfpacket. I aim to increase my
commitment to the paper, and by working in this higher position I would put even more time and
energy towards the paper.
I think I am the most qualified for the position because I am a good leader. I work well with others,
have a good relationship with the editors and writers on staff, and do not shy away from making
important decisions, such as whether to run a controversial article or not. I am an efficient worker; I
always have my pages done before Late Night because I try use my time in class wisely. Finally, I am
creative. This past year, I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would be a big leap from how we have done things in the past, but I believe it is a necessary step.
When we come out only once a month, most of the ideas that were relevant at the time of story ideas
are stale and old news by the date of distribution. By coming out more often, we would be able to
avoid this problem. For this idea to work, we would shorten the length of each individual Wolfpacket
issue to 6 pages instead of 12 (i.e. A E being one page instead of two.) We then divide editors into
teams and then alternate section responsibilities every issue, like a block schedule of sorts. To
illustrate what I m saying, let s apply this bimonthly publication practice to the Opinions section. In
this example, I would create the Opinions page for the first publication of the month, and Ohana
would create it for the second. Editors and reporters would both have the same amount of work per
month as we do with the current press schedule as there would be the same total pages made and
articles written. By dividing up monthly 12 page issues into bimonthly 6 page ones, the Wolfpacket
would be able to address more pressing and current issues within a reasonable time frame without
demanding much extra work from the

Ludwig Van Beethoven And The Classical Era
Ludwig van Beethoven was a German composer and a predominant musical figure that created the
bridge from the classical era to the Romantic era. At a young age, Beethoven became interested in
music, which gave his father, Johann van Beethoven, the idea of making him the next child prodigy
like Mozart. Beethoven was brutally pushed to achieve the goal/dream of his father. However, at the
age of 13 he had to take on the responsibility of providing for the family since his father was no longer
able to. With his newly given responsibility, he requested a job at the courthouse where he was assign
as an assistant court organist earning an annual pay of 150 florins. Beethoven played both the piano
and the organ and was very skilled at it, so in 1787, the court decided to send him to study with
Mozart in Vienna. Beethoven later rose to fame with his musical pieces, but then became deaf in his
early 20s, which made him aggravated. Not only was he angry that one of his most valuable
possession was gone, but also of his harsh childhood. Beethoven died on March 27, 1827, in Vienna.
Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany December 16, 1770. He had four siblings originally, but
unfortunately, his brother before him died just six days after birth. His other brother Anton Karl was
born in April 1774, his second brother Nikolaus Johann was born in October 1776, and his only sister
Maria Margaretha Josepha was born in1786. However, out of all his siblings, Beethoven had the most

What Are The Rewards In Walden Economy
In Walden Economy , Thoreau states that For a long time I was a reporter to a journal, of no very wide
circulation, whose editor has never yet seen fit to print the bulk of my contributions, and, as is too
common with writers, I got only my labor for my pains. However, in this case, my pains were their
own reward. This pain is written to be a reward for Thoreau. The reward that is received is the reward
of hard work and learning. Even though Thoreau had a very low job in the journalism industry, and
made many works for the business, many never saw the light of day. What is understood though, is
that he was not very angry or disappointed with the results, but instead found a sort of happiness or
reward . Through understanding, Thoreau ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This not only applies to his field of work but also applies to his life. Thoreau not only learned to write
better, but it also helps in forming habits that last a lifetime. The reward is much deeper than writing.
A life lesson only learned through failure is earned. The lesson is that through failure, you find
success. Many of history s greats have all learned the lesson and never stopped after their first failure,
but instead learned and continued to work hard to achieve their goals. This lesson of pain being a
reward is shown throughout my life. Through high school, grades never came easy, studying hard and
through plenty of gruesome hours was necessary for success. I struggled in applying myself to study
every night and took a more relaxed and fun approach to the high school life. This turned into failure
quickly and through the failure, I was forced to form study habits and get rid of many distractions.
This failure was required in understanding how to become successful through my academic career, as
well as life. This lesson is applied to me waking up every morning with a positive attitude and work

Assess The Difference Between Sympathy And Empathy
Sympathy and empathy means when individuals try to let people know that they understand their
struggles (Edwards, 2014). Sympathizing and empathizing means, individuals wish to comfort others
in times of struggle. On the other hand, it is imperative to know that there are main differences
between sympathy and empathy (Edwards, 2014). They are quite similar, but that does not mean they
are the same. If we sympathize or empathize with anyone, we often make our efforts in showing how
we relate to their personalities. Having a profound understanding of personality will assist create a
personal determinant when we try to distinguish between empathy and sympathy. For example, an
individual who known as an unsocial is going to encounter many challenges in distinguishing between
the two than someone who known as an open minded person (Edwards, 2014). To differentiate

Respiratory Pathophysiology
e purpose of the respiratory system is to bring the air we breathe into close contact with the blood in
order for the absorption of oxygen and expulsion of carbon dioxide. The respiratory system consists of
a pair lungs which are connected to the mouth via the trachea and bronchi. The ribs and intercostal
muscles are part of the respiratory system. This is because they not only protect the lungs, trachea and
bronchi but also move and assist with breathing.
The trachea, otherwise known as the windpipe filters the air that is inhaled. It branches into the
bronchi, which are two tubes that carry air into each lung. The bronchi are lined with cilia, tiny hairs
which move back and forth which carry mucus up and out as a defence mechanism against pathogens.
The bronchial tubes lead ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Air flows due to the pressure differences between the atmosphere and the gases inside the lungs.
Pulmonary ventilation is otherwise known as breathing, and as my athlete performs he does breathe,
making this process quite important both during exercise and during relaxation.
Shifts in the oxygen dissociation curve is caused by the changes in the levels of carbon dioxide in
blood. These shifts enhance the release of oxygen in tissue and the uptake of oxygen in the lungs
dependant on the conditions its under. Oxygen is carried in both the haemoglobin in the red blood
cells and the plasma in the blood. Each haemoglobin molecule has a limited capacity for holding
oxygen molecules. As the blood plasma pH elevates past 7.6 causes the saturation curve to shift 15%
to the left of the normal. As the blood plasma decreases and becomes more acidic, hydrogen ions
increasingly bind to haemoglobin amino acids which decreases the degree in which the oxygen may
combine with the haemoglobin. This is called the Bohr effect. This is a reversible situation as the
plasma pH may

Economic Inequality In Business
Inequality in businesses has been a rising problem that has affected our nations society for decades.
Economic inequalities are often referred to as an individuals certain position connected to the persons
income, and wealth. Inequality is how individuals are treated differently and in the business sense this
means by obtaining a job, different income scale and even overall economic level itself. So many
years have passed since slavery, woman rights, and stock market crashes that one might think times
and equality have been squashed. Yet, times have not changed and the problem is still monstrous.
Racial inequality is a continuous problem that has plagued businesses since slavery. Gender inequality
has been ongoing due to societies views on woman roles. Social class differences of high class reaping
all the benefits has always existed since even the 1920s. But the ethnic background, or the gender of
an individual can also relate to the economic inequalities and position held within a company. We have
this inequality threatening different races, genders, and social classes of the business industries.
Inequality in business should be greatly taken into account due to the jeopardization of race, gender,
and social class. Business inequality is threatening the increase of race controversies around the world.
As Al Sharpton often says, we have come a long way from the days of slavery, but in 2014,
discrimination and inequality still saturate our society in modern ways. Its existence is undeniable
(Sharpton 1). Sharpton is an American civil rights activist who attended Brooklyn College. If we look
at just the business spectrum, we see that inequality exists between race; in particular among the
blacks and whites. This is apparent in businesses across the world the discrepancy between the top
business executive of blacks and whites is staggering and so is the disparity between yearly wages and
promotions. According to the 2013 survey of Consumer Finances, business ownership is associated
with a $252,100 increase in wealth for whites, but a $84,523 increase in wealth for African Americans
(Herring 4). Cedric Herring is a professor of sociology at the university of Maryland. He has been a

Charter Schools Essay
Charter Schools: The Future of Education? For decades the American education system provided
parents with three choices: public, homeschool or private school. If they chose public then their
child(ren) would be assigned to a school past on where they lived. However , in the early 1990s a
handful of states created independent public charter schools, providing opportunities for teachers and
others to develop innovative schooling options (Palmer, Louann 2007). Not only did the creation of
charter schools provide opportunities for the teachers, but gave parents a fourth option in educating
their child(ren). Some veiw charter schools as a welcome addition to the public school sector, others

By having caps in place states are limiting the amount of competition for public schools. While caps
are one obstacle that charter school advocates will have to overcome there is an equally pressing
obstacle. Unequal financing is another obstacle. A Fordham Institute study found that on average
charters receive $1,800 less per student than traditional public schools, despite serving more
disadvantaged students (Smarick, Andy 2008). If charter schools are to flourish they will need to fight
for more state funding. After all charter schools are public schools (Center for Education Reform), and
as a public school should be awarded the same funding as regular public schools. Like district public
schools, they are funded according to enrollment (also called average daily attendance, or ADA), and
receive funding from the district and the state according to the number of students attending (Center
for Education Reform). However, as Andy Smarick stated they do not receive the same amount per
student as district public schools. Charter Schools like all education laws start at the state level.
According to Louann Palmer, the public has little understanding of the states systems for deciding
who gets, keeps, and loses the right to run a charter school (2007). Those who are responsible for
these decisions are called charter school authorizers (or sponsers in some states) (Palmer, Louann
2007). An authorizer can be an individual, a non profit organization or even a

Aviation In World War 1
Aviation in World War One The first widespread use of aerial warfare. Military aviation began in the
1860 s, during the American Civil War, when both sides used balloons to observe each other
(Winchester 2007). On December 17, 1903, the American brothers Wright took the first successful
flight in history. The idea of flying was thought impossible to many but it had always been a dream of
mankind. A dream had become reality. World War One (1914 1918) was the first conflict where
aircraft was involved on a large scale, playing a significant role. Fighter aircrafts would scout the
enemy s territory to discover weak points and exposed flanks in the enemy s lines. Bombing by the
first planes was extremely primitive, as the pilots would aim the missile and then drop it by hand.
Although these airplanes were helpful in receiving information about the enemy, the production of
airplanes was expensive and time consuming. The risk pilots took in flying the simple aircrafts in
World War One was immense. An average British pilot had a life expectancy of about seventy hours
when flying along the Western front , and the aircrafts were often too small to include a parachute.
The first successful air combats took place within weeks of the outbreak of the Great War. The Royal
Flying Corps (RFC, formed in 1912) met the German Air Service and forced them down (Winchester
2007). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Causes And Effects Of Stress
Stress
Stress is a mental or emotional tension. It is a normal, everyday, part of life. Stress can be bad, but it
can also lead to a useful purpose. It can be anywhere from short term to long term stress and
symptoms can be anywhere from sweating to depression. Stress can be caused by many different
things and can have many different symptoms; therefore each cause and each symptom can vary from
person to person.
Stress is the body s reaction to any change that requires an adjustment or response (webmd.boots).
The body reacts to these changes with physical, cognitive, behavioral, and emotional responses.
Physical responses are like insomnia, difficulty swallowing, clenched jaw, sweaty palms, or stumbling
your words (The Impact of Stress). Cognitive signs are mental slowness, worrying, inability to focus,
or difficulty concentrating (Stress Symptoms). Behavioral responses are when you feel overworked,
irritation, or no sense of humor. Emotional signs are sense of loneliness, poor work relations, or
avoiding social contact (The Impact of Stress).
Everybody has different stress triggers. 40% of US workers admit to experiencing office stress (causes
of stress). It can be caused by an unhappy job, work overload, working long hours, poor management,
dangerous conditions, discrimination, or being insecure about your chance of be promoted. Home life
also causes a lot of stress. This can be death of a loved one, divorce, marriage, moving, illness or
injury, taking care of an elderly family member, or a traumatic event. Stress can also be caused from
the inside, like fear, uncertainty, worrying, and change (causes of stress). Your stress level will differ
based on your personality. It will also differ on how you personally respond to situations. Your body
can show stress in multiple ways. Muscles can tighten, your energy levels can drop, or your blood
pressure can rise (Heid). Due to stress, you can break out, your hair can fall out, your stomach can
ache, your ears can ring, and your nails can look funky. Stress could also cause scrapes and cuts to not
heal. This is because stress can draw water away from your skin s outer layers which affects your skin
s ability to regenerate and repair itself

  • 4. I Had Been Out Of The Hospital For Two Weeks Essay I had been out of the hospital for two weeks. I was staying on track with my medicine, with the help of my husband Bryon. I have been dealing with depression for a while now and I eventually ended up being emitted to the hospital. I decided to take time off work for a while until I got back in the swing of things. Me and my husband Bryon decided that was the best thing to do. Every day Bryon would make sure I took my medicine in the morning before he went to work and every evening when he got back. That s what my psychiatrist recommended we do. I had been suicidal, and they wanted to make sure didn t try anything to take my life. Bryon removed all of the sharp objects from the house, like knives and scissors. I didn t feel like all of that was necessary, but I could see why he did that with the state of mind I was in before I was emitted to the hospital. Battling with severe depression took a toll on me. There was no definite cause for my depression either. It s like no matter how good things were going in my life, there would always be a little bit of sadness that lingered. I was feeling confident that I was going to really get better and more stable. It is just so hard sometimes to find the medicine that worked. It is like trial and error. My medicine would have to be adjusted to get me feeling the best I could, but I was hoping that this was a real fix. I mean I knew that I would not always be happy because in life we all go through ups and downs, but I just wanted to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Ridgway Argumentative Essay It takes a lot to rip apart a town. It takes a lot to ravage a community, particularly one as tightly knit as Ridgway, Pennsylvania. Nestled snugly at the southeastern edge of Allegheny National Forest, Ridgway s population has dipped to just below four thousand in recent years, though in its 191 years of settlement, it s never once been called home by more than roughly six thousand people at once. Its proximity to the forest attracts huntsmen and hikers alike, but unless one were actively looking for the town the square mileage of which comes in at just over two and a half miles, total it would be remarkably easy for Ridgway to not make a blip on someone s radar at all. It s small, out of the way, and most of all, quiet a recipe for insignificance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This time, the victim was a man in his early twenties, and he was discovered, wrapped haphazardly in a plastic tarp identical to the one the first body had been found in, in the bushes outside of the one high school in the county. At first, the county police were skeptical that the murders had been committed by the same people, due to the fact that the victims were of different genders and had been disposed of in entirely different locations, but they were eventually forced to admit that all signs pointed to their sleepy little Pennsylvanian town having a potential serial killer on their hands. When the story broke in the local newspaper, the killer had received an official pseudonym: the Ridgway Ripper. Later, when the man responsible for bringing so much tragedy to such a small town was apprehended and a face and a name were given to this pseudonym, the majority of the town continued to call him the Ripper. No one would dare say it out loud, but everyone knew that it was because it was simply easier that way. It was easier to pretend that something else, something inhuman, could be the source of so much ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Human Exploitation Of Host Immune Responses By Parasites... Abstract The broadly defined parasites have evolved a survival mechanism, which is evading the host s immunity and obtaining multiple methods for successfully eluding the host immunity. The tactics used in this mechanism is complex promoting persistence and completion of the life cycle. This research investigates the interaction between host immunity and parasite. Paul Ehrlich, a German physician and scientist, about 100 years ago commenced the concept of immune evasion (Damian, 1997). The concept of exploitation of host immune responses by parasites has been reinforced by new data on its first known examples, especially the immune dependence of schistosoma egg excretion. The infection caused by the parasite leads to a variety of outcomes that is the removal of parasite or the death of the host. DAMIAN, R.T. (1997) Parasite immune evasion and exploitation: reflections and projections , Parasitology, 115(7), pp. 169 175. Introduction Most studies have shown that most species are of parasitic form interacting with the host s immune system. Subsequently, the host arranges their immune system to avoid infections by the protozoa. However, the host s immune system is not always maximally efficient. The fact that the parasite interacts with the host s immune system illustrates that they have evolved to reach such a successful counteraction against the host s immunity. This research aims to shed light on the mechanism of parasitic evasion, which leads to parasitic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are four types of opposition: contradiction, contrariety, sub contrariety, and sub alternation. • 9. Symptoms Of Microcephaly Associated With Zika Cases Essay Abstract The Zika outbreak of 2015 shined new light on a once underestimated and lesser known tropical disease. With the immense effect on pregnant mothers, it quickly became an issue of global concern. This review will address the concern of the specific symptom of microcephaly associated with Zika cases in pregnant mothers. Additionally the pathology of Zika transmission as well as possible treatments will be discussed, as they are all important issues to investigate given the relevance of Zika in global public health. This outbreak was one met with confusion and a mass of misinformation, so this review seeks to clarify many of the principles that were misrepresented to the public, and for the research direct ideal focus for future studies. The Zika Virus: A Review Zika virus was first discovered in the Zika Forest of Uganda. It originated a virus of primates that was later found to infect humans. The virus is characterized by its single stranded RNA structure(Arnaoutakis Padhya, 2016). Due to a lack of attentions, the virus went relatively unstudied until it started to affect the global community through one of the largest epidemics on record. Since the first reported case of Zika virus in the 1950s, the virus has affected millions of people. There have been 2 documented outbre (Ochler, et. al, 2016)aks of the virus one in France in 2013 and the second in South and Central America in 2015. • 10. Catastrophism for uniformitarianism can be seen in rocks, sediment, and even in fossil records (Baker, 1998). The earth has different layers, and different things are buried within those layers. People who adhere to the old earth secular view believe that different layers of rock and sediment were formed over many years. Since some areas of the earth have many different layers, it makes sense that it would have taken a long time to form. Other evidence exists with fossils (Baker, 1998). There are many different species of animal that currently live on earth. However, fossils show evidence of other species that are not currently alive. In addition, fossils are buried in patterns that correspond to different time periods (Baker, 1998). They hypothesize that species change over time through the process of evolution. Different fossil records provide evidence for the theory of biological evolution (Baker, 1998). Although ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rather than assuming that physical laws always operated as they currently do, some people think that the earth operated differently in the past. More specifically, they think that there were frequent major catastrophes, and that those instances are what caused fossils and rocks to form in the way they did (McClure, 2009, p. 191). Since such catastrophes happened relatively fast, it has led some people to conclude that the earth is not as old as scientists think it is (McClure, 2009). Catastrophism also offers an explanation for fossil records. Different species may be in different geological strata as a result of major floods (McClure, 2009). Rather than being in a specific layer of rock as a result of living during a time period, some people think that fossils are in certain layers of rock as a result of major floods. Water levels rise and fall during floods, which is what some people have offered as an explanation for why there are different layers of rock and different fossils that correspond to ... In Lord of the Flies there are many different topics and themes that are gone over but one of the main themes is that people can go insane and become savages under certain circumstances. This relates to people because a lot of people in high school would prefer not to talk in front of class because they are in fear of looking foolish in class. The same things happens to Simon because after everyone rejects Simon s idea he then, ...retired and sat as far away from the others as possible (pg. 147). In Hiromi s career, Hiromi has a lot of inspiration from all jazz musicians, such as Chick Corea and Oscar Peterson. Here is a recording of Hiromi Uehara and Chick Corea duet on Hiromi s piece Old Castle, by the river, in the middle of a forest (2007). In comparison of these two great jazz musicians, Corea insists on his lyrical jazz style while Hiromi is punchier and more rhythmic. (Chick Hiromi, 2008). This combination allows Hiromi and Corea to present their strengths, surprise audiences with their delicate musical ideas. Tone is very important in poetry as it plays a role in the way the characters within the poem are portrayed, the way we perceive the writers intentions and it sets the mood when reading the poem. This can clearly be seen with mother in a refugee camp as the poem overall has a very hopeless and harsh tone and this can be seen when the narrator of the poem say, She soon would have to forget in the context that the death of the child is inevitable and they are hopeless as they cannot defy destiny. This is also harsh as the poet does not cover up death with euphemisms but is very straight forward saying that there is no other choice other than to forget. The pleading tone can be seen in the poem when Dylan Thomas says, Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray. This comes as plea to his dad to fight death and not give in and this also emphasizes Dylan Thomas s desperation for his father to wake up and not give in. On the other hand with Remember the tone develops as you go through the poem and it goes from a commanding tone to one that is accepting towards the end and this can be seen when Christina Rossetti says, Better by far you should forget and smile than that you should remember and be sad. This shows us that the character actually cares about the feelings of the person that loves her as she would rather that they forget and be happy than for them to remember and be sad. This development of tone comes as a natural due to the fact that the nature of the poem is a sonnet. Sonnets tend to convey a problem in the first octave and find the solution to that problem in the last sestet and this can clearly be seen in remember as she is telling them to remember but then she realizes that she cannot hold on to them forever and actually sets them free. As for E for L the poem on a whole is provocative and angry and this can be seen with multiple and ruthless acts of murder that he commits with no mercy at all. (p. 8) Tappenden et al. (2013) stated that regardless of body mass index, hospitalized patients typically suffer from undernutrition due to a variety of reasons. Interrupting feeds due to drug administration contributes significantly to malnutrition in hospitalized patients, as holding feeds can be cumulative and prolonged, therefore patients often do not receive nor maintain their recommended goal rate, subsequently compromising their nutritional status (Williams, Leslie, Leen, Mills Dobb, 2013). The respiratory system consists of a pair lungs which are connected to the mouth via the trachea and bronchi. The ribs and intercostal muscles are part of the respiratory system. This is because they not only protect the lungs, trachea and bronchi but also move and assist with breathing. The trachea, otherwise known as the windpipe filters the air that is inhaled. • 30. Economic Inequality In Business Inequality in businesses has been a rising problem that has affected our nations society for decades. Economic inequalities are often referred to as an individuals certain position connected to the persons income, and wealth. Inequality is how individuals are treated differently and in the business sense this means by obtaining a job, different income scale and even overall economic level itself. So many years have passed since slavery, woman rights, and stock market crashes that one might think times and equality have been squashed. Yet, times have not changed and the problem is still monstrous. Racial inequality is a continuous problem that has plagued businesses since slavery. Gender inequality has been ongoing due to societies views on woman roles. Social class differences of high class reaping all the benefits has always existed since even the 1920s. But the ethnic background, or the gender of an individual can also relate to the economic inequalities and position held within a company. We have this inequality threatening different races, genders, and social classes of the business industries. Inequality in business should be greatly taken into account due to the jeopardization of race, gender, and social class. Business inequality is threatening the increase of race controversies around the world. As Al Sharpton often says, we have come a long way from the days of slavery, but in 2014, discrimination and inequality still saturate our society in modern ways. Its existence is undeniable (Sharpton 1). Sharpton is an American civil rights activist who attended Brooklyn College. If we look at just the business spectrum, we see that inequality exists between race; in particular among the blacks and whites. • 35. Persuasive Essay Seatbelt I have been on several car accidents that could have taken my life away if I had not put that seatbelt on. Seatbelts should be on every vehicle to provide protections to its drivers and its passengers. Car manufacturers should enforce the use of a seatbelt. How does a seatbelt provide protection? A seatbelt can be specifically helpful on a high speed crash. Seatbelts should be worn at all times. A manufacturer should enforce it to start a car engine. All drivers would be required to wear a seatbelt and if they do not then the car will not be able to start. It would require a really good system so people cannot easily hack it or remove it. There would also no longer be a fine for not wearing a seatbelt and people would like that. Seatbelts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Faith, Jessica, and I stood up from the hard black unappealing plastic bleachers to go outside. As I opened the door, the wind whipped around my bare skin and leaves whirled along the ground. It is freezing; I m going back inside. I retorted. We were walking along the narrow hallway going back to the gym when we met Carlie. She gave us no room to walk by her so I retreated to the wall that way we wouldn t collide with each other. I turned around and saw Carlie bump into Faith. Move outta my way. Faith automatically said No. Well, did you see anyone pick up my purse? Karlie asked accusingly. I haven t seen anyone. Faith and Jessica said. • 37. Charter Schools Essay Charter Schools: The Future of Education? For decades the American education system provided parents with three choices: public, homeschool or private school. If they chose public then their child(ren) would be assigned to a school past on where they lived. However , in the early 1990s a handful of states created independent public charter schools, providing opportunities for teachers and others to develop innovative schooling options (Palmer, Louann 2007). Not only did the creation of charter schools provide opportunities for the teachers, but gave parents a fourth option in educating their child(ren). Some veiw charter schools as a welcome addition to the public school sector, others doubt the benefit of these schools. There ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By having caps in place states are limiting the amount of competition for public schools. While caps are one obstacle that charter school advocates will have to overcome there is an equally pressing obstacle. Unequal financing is another obstacle. A Fordham Institute study found that on average charters receive $1,800 less per student than traditional public schools, despite serving more disadvantaged students (Smarick, Andy 2008). If charter schools are to flourish they will need to fight for more state funding. After all charter schools are public schools (Center for Education Reform), and as a public school should be awarded the same funding as regular public schools. Like district public schools, they are funded according to enrollment (also called average daily attendance, or ADA), and receive funding from the district and the state according to the number of students attending (Center for Education Reform). However, as Andy Smarick stated they do not receive the same amount per student as district public schools. Charter Schools like all education laws start at the state level. According to Louann Palmer, the public has little understanding of the states systems for deciding who gets, keeps, and loses the right to run a charter school (2007). Those who are responsible for these decisions are called charter school authorizers (or sponsers in some states) (Palmer, Louann 2007). An authorizer can be an individual, a non profit organization or even a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Aviation In World War 1 Aviation in World War One The first widespread use of aerial warfare. Military aviation began in the 1860 s, during the American Civil War, when both sides used balloons to observe each other (Winchester 2007). On December 17, 1903, the American brothers Wright took the first successful flight in history. The idea of flying was thought impossible to many but it had always been a dream of mankind. A dream had become reality. World War One (1914 1918) was the first conflict where aircraft was involved on a large scale, playing a significant role. Fighter aircrafts would scout the enemy s territory to discover weak points and exposed flanks in the enemy s lines. Bombing by the first planes was extremely primitive, as the pilots would aim the missile and then drop it by hand. Although these airplanes were helpful in receiving information about the enemy, the production of airplanes was expensive and time consuming. The risk pilots took in flying the simple aircrafts in World War One was immense. An average British pilot had a life expectancy of about seventy hours when flying along the Western front , and the aircrafts were often too small to include a parachute. The first successful air combats took place within weeks of the outbreak of the Great War. The Royal Flying Corps (RFC, formed in 1912) met the German Air Service and forced them down (Winchester 2007). ...
