The E Coli Is A Gram Negative, Rod Shaped Bacterium
The E coli is a gram negative, rod shaped bacterium. It can grow under aerobic (extra intestinal) or
anaerobic conditions (intestine) and is the predominant facultive organism in human s GI tract. It
belongs to the bacterial family of Enterobacteriaceae. It is an important member of the intestinal
human s micro flora. It usually adheres to the mucus overlying the large intestine. Nowadays,
pathogenic E coli are classified based on their unique virulence factors. Pathogenic strains of the
bacterium cause three different diseases: (8)
Urinary tract infections
Neonatal meningitis
Intestinal diseases
Each of the diseases depends on different expression of virulence factors such as adhesins, invasins,
chemotaxis, toxins and the ability of the E coli to defend its host. (8)
Uropathogenic E coli colonize from perineal region and ascend to the bladder. The virulence factor
expressed is P fimbria. The strains also express other virulence factors such as siderophores that play a
role in obtainment of iron for the bacteria. They also express haemolysins. A haemolysin lyse the
lymphocytes and β haemolysin inhibits the phagocytosis of neutrophils. Another virulence factor is the
resistance to the complement dependent bactericidal effect. The presence of K antigens promotes
bacterial virulence by decreasing the ability of antibodies or complement to bind to the bacterial cell
surface and cause the loss of phagocyte s ability to recognize and destroy them. (8)

Dihybrid Cross Lab Report
Discussion (1226 words)
From dihybrid test crosses, map distances of 0.69 m.u. between purple and apterous, 5.71 m.u.
between black and purple, and 7.56 m.u. between black and apterous genes were determined. The
calculated map distances of 0.69 and 5.71 between more closely linked genes are consistent with
published distances of 0.7 and 6 map units respectively. Inconsistencies between published data and
calculated map distances in regards to larger map distances, such as between black and apterous
genes, are due to the nature of dihybrid test crosses. The greater distance between black and apterous
genes increases the likelihood of multiple crossovers. Double crossovers are unaccounted for in
dihybrid crosses, thus resulting in RF and map ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, more accurate RF and map distances are generated from trihybrid crosses. Moreover, double
recombinants are useful in determining gene order in trihybrid crosses. The simultaneous derivation of
map distances and gene order from a single cross signify the efficiency of trihybrid crosses.
Limitations of this method of gene mapping decrease accuracy of data (Hartwell et al. 2004). The map
generated from dihybrid crosses does not directly translate to the physical location of genes on a
chromosome. While gene order is maintained, map distances may not correlate with distances on
chromosomes. This is because DNA between genes does not always correspond with map units, and
due to multiple crossovers which are unaccounted for in trihybrid crosses. This increases inaccuracy
of data, especially between more separated genes. Further, the 50% RF limit leads to less detailed
measurements of distances on chromosomes. As recombination does not occur more than 50% of the
time, genes further apart on chromosomes cannot be accurately mapped. However, a more accurate
map can be established through adding smaller distances.
Emerging techniques facilitate genetic mapping in humans (Altshuler et al. 2008). Genome wide
association studies through mapping single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are useful in identifying
loci associated with disease susceptibility. SNPs are common genetic variations which

The Evolution Of Youth Sports
Youth sports have taken on a whole different identity, thus changing the sporting experience for youth
athletes. Today this is what we have, Children are playing fewer sports, and the less talented are left
behind in recreational leagues with poor coaching, uneven play and the message that they aren t good
enough (Rosenwald). Youth sports used to be much more relaxed and focused on creating an
environment for kids to develop socially more than athletically. Yes, skills were still taught during
practice, but not with such an intensity that exists today. Today, some youth teams take training and
winning very seriously. It has become customary for kids to play on elite teams from a very young
age. This creates a gap between the more talented

Driving On The Road Rage
Drivers come in many different types, and each has their own characteristics. When you are driving,
you can encounter a lot of different types of drivers. The four most known ones are the aggressive
driver, the speeder, the kind driver, and the multitasker. All four of these characteristics are very
different so you will be able to tell which drivers fall in which categories. Every driver has a
destination they are trying to reach and these four characteristics of drivers have a different way of
reaching that destination. When you are driving on the roads, you will likely encounter an aggressive
driver. They usually make themselves noticeable by cutting people off and yelling at other drivers.
They seem to always be in a rush to get to their destination so they will do what they need to do to get
there. Other aggressive drivers can be the type to yell and curse at other drivers because of frustration
which is known as road rage. Someone that has road rage typically will get upset over something that
is not a big deal and yell at other drivers. These type of drivers are the ones people try to avoid so they
do not get involved in a confrontation so they just ignore them. No matter where you are driving, there
are drivers that speed all around you. Some people will go twenty miles an hour over the speed limit
just because they want to get to their destination faster. They will cut people off just to be able to
maintain a high speed. There are many risks when someone is

A Comparison Between William Wordsworth s Upon Westminster...
A Comparison Between William Wordsworth s Upon Westminster Bridge and William Blake s
London
The English Romantic period spanned between 1789 and 1824. This period was not so called until the
mid 19th century when readers began to see six different poets as part of the same movement. These
poets were William Blake, William Wordsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Lord Byron, Percy Shelly
and John Keats.
Some aspects of Romantic poetry were; there was an increasing interest in nature; there was an
increased interest in landscape and scenery; human moods were connected to the moods of nature.
Although the six poets cohered to create the English Romantic movement they were all extremely

In Upon Westminster Bridge, Wordsworth uses the format of a Petrarchan sonnet whereas in London,
William Blake uses the format of long hymnal measure.
It is clear that this poem is a sonnet because it has fourteen lines and ten syllables in each line. In
Upon Westminster Bridge the rhyme scheme is abbaabba cdcdcd and is split up into an octave and
then a sestet and this means that is a Petrarchan sonnet. If you take a closer look at the poem you will
notice that the octave and the sestet are simply two whole sentences. This helps to maintain the
flowing rhythm of the poem and better defines the difference between the octave and sestet. In this
form the subject is projected and developed in the octave and then the sestet must release the tension
which has been built up. The point at which I think the tension is released is in the final two lines.
Dear God! The very houses seem asleep;
And all that mighty heart is lying still!
Wordsworth added this final couplet in order to get the epigrammatic effect which is characteristic of
the Shakespearean sonnet which is a sonnet that contains three quatrains and a couplet.
In London, long hymnal measure is used. It has a rhyme scheme of abab which helps to maintain a
steady rhythm and pace throughout the poem.
Upon Westminster Bridge tries to give an image of the scene whereas

Change Of The Century By Ornette Coleman Analysis
In the scope of the jazz community, Ornette Coleman is one of the most prominent representatives of
free jazz. Coleman is known for his free jazz compositions as well as his saxophone performances.
Throughout his piece, Change of the Century , one can hear the saxophonist and trumpeter playing
trills and scale patterns. The sounds are abrupt and are played on random beats of the measure. To give
some historical context, when Coleman s album, Change of the Century, was released in 1960, Martin
Luther King Jr. and other activists were staging sit ins in Southern restaurants. With the political
climate of the 1960s in perspective, to the educated listener, the bursts of sound in Change of the
Century now seem indignant. It is not hard to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the instruments of free jazz are the same, the standard jazz composition patterns are not.
According to German musicologist Ekkehard Jost, the only rule of free jazz is the negation of
traditional norms (Jost 9). While other styles like bebop or swing have set measures or keys, free jazz
does not have the same constraints. There are no fixed rhythms, melodies, and harmonies; if Coleman
started a song in the key of Bb, there was no say in what key he would end with. Coleman s free jazz
songs also have another recurring component: harmolodics. In an interview with Wire magazine,
Coleman defines harmolodics as an element where all ideas all relationships and harmony are equally
in unison ( Interview with Ornette Coleman ). Upon reading this vague definition, the real meaning of
harmolodics escapes both myself and many other jazz scholars. Nevertheless, these improvised
sections between instruments are present in many of Coleman s songs. The term free jazz was first
coined from Coleman s album titled Free Jazz: A Collective Improvisation. The album starts off with
all of the woodwinds and brass and continues with improvised solos from the clarinet, trumpet,
saxophone, bass, and drums. Coleman uses the twelve bar blues form and experiments with harmonic
improvisation between the musicians. Reviews for Coleman s album were conflicting; Pete Welding,
record producer, gave the recordings five stars, citing it is by all odds

Abraham Promises
The Bible teaches that God s longing to redeem the world has always been His desire, but sinful man
has refused God s grace. The appeal to man to turn from his selfish ways dates back to the Old
Testament and is clearly displayed in the actions God puts into place with Abraham and the formation
of the nation of Israel. These activities are evident in Abraham and the nation of Israel through
promises made, examples to show His glory, and Israel s comparison to the Church today.
Promises Made
In Genesis, God promised blessings to Abraham that would carry to his descendants (Gen. 12:2 3
[NASB]).1 Through these blessings, one man and his family would benefit the whole world and begin
a process of ingathering from the darkness and disintegration ... Show more content on

As part of those activities, the Scripture clearly indicates His desire to declare Himself to all nations,
tongues, and tribes. Walter Kaiser explains that the Old Testament unfolds a plan (Gen. 12:3), a
purpose (Ps. 67:1 7) and the need for participation (Exod. 19:4 6) by the nation of Israel.11 There are
three significant areas that serve as evidence of God s intentions. They are the use of the Israelites to
reach the world as a proclamation, Abraham s specific calling to become a priestly nation, and the
nation as an example.
God s plan and work are directed to the entire of humanity with His desire to save all of mankind.12
However, man s struggle against God is apparent in events such as the attempt to reach heaven at
Babel (Gen. 11:1 9) and the universal condemnation of wickedness, which caused the great flood
(Gen. 6:5).13 Israel was designed to be a solid foundation for other nations to turn to. Verkuyl states
that even the nations who oppose God will one day celebrate in restored fellowship.14 Israel will
become the permanent presence of God s people acting and relating with the world. God s word even
makes provision to those who choose to join the nation and accepts them as one born into the
community (Exod. 12:48 49).15 While they were never to become part of the world, Isreal was to live
in the world and be set aside for the purposes of

A Experiment Of Mendelian Genetics
Brassica Rapa
Experiment of Mendelian Genetics
Genetics 304
Dr. Assefa
Dec 08, 2010
Introduction
Gregor Johann Mendel, the father of genetics, was born in 1822. He was a priest and scientist who
became famous for his work and studies on the inheritance patterns using pea plants. Gregor Mendel
used pea plants known as Pisumsativum in his research where he developed two fundamental laws of
genetics known today as the Law of segregation , and the Law of independent assortment (Hartl,
1992). The Law of segregation states that when an individual produces a gamete, the copies of a given
gene separate in which each gamete receives only one copy of that gene. The phenotypic ratio in the

One of the most important Brassica rapa features is that many generations can be grown in a short
period of time for experimental analysis and comparison(Tsunoda, 1980).Brassica rapaplants are
involved in many research works recently in which they are crossed with other crops to modify their
genetic fitness(Tompkins, 1990). The Chi Square ( ) test was used in this experiment to determine
whether the statistical data supports or rejects the hypothesis.
Materials and Methods The experiment was successfully accomplished in classroom where the
Brassica Rapa were grown under suitable conditions. The experiment began by developing a watering
system to the plants using the idea of capillary action. The watering system was made up of a plastic
reservoir filled with a certain amount of water and a water mat placed on the top of the plastic
reservoir. This design was helpful in making sure that the plants are receiving water constantly. Also,
one piece of copper sulfate was addedinto the reservoir to avoid any algal growth. Two Styrofoam
quads with four cells each were used for planting the seeds of Brassica Rapa. The cells were numbered
from one to eight and a wick was placed in each cell in a way that allowed water access from the
water mat through the capillary action. Each cell was then half way filled with soil and two fertilizers
were placed in

Catch And Release Is Inhumane
Catch and Release of Fish: Inhumane or Humane to Trout Populations A debate that has recently been
brought more into focus in the public eye is that of whether catch and release is humane or inhumane
to trout populations. Recent hype on conservation of our natural and surrounding environment has
increasingly gained popularity through conservation efforts. It is through conservation efforts that the
question of, catch and release has gained more attention as a means to determine if a law that was put
into effect to protect and insure the healthy population of trout, may be contributed to a possible
decrease in trout populations. This leads one to examine the opinions and studies of trout populations
within our area.

However, there is a growing number of fish harvested for domestic consumption (Cooke, 2007). With
the motivations of fishing differing, the management of trout are considered when thinking of the
quality of life. Considering the fish size, the number of fish caught and the number of attempts; strikes
as well as the fishing environment can enable the fish population and the sport of angling a happy
balance. Thus, the estimates of mortality from catch and release are now tied into fishery management.
Scientist are discovering that other environmental factors are posing more of a danger to fish than
fisherman. For example, the movement of a male fish to a nest can result in nest abandonment which
can result in the loss of reproduction for individual fish. With the management of catch and release,
nest abandonment is less likely to

Speech On Healthy Food
Ever since I was a kid, healthy food has been a hot topic. My mom had the food pyramid on our fridge
and I remember staring at the thing wondering if I had gotten the right amount of each food group in. I
remember that food pyramid being such a magical tool for healthy eating. That was before the
Internet. Now we have a ton of information at our fingertips about how to eat, what to eat, and when
to eat. Everyone has a different idea on what healthy food is, but if we are honest with ourselves, we
pretty much know the basics of eating healthy. Following are some quotes on healthy food that may

means they are fresh and are not covered in preservatives to make them last longer than they should.
For instance, if your farmer s market has a fruit stand, and apples are there, buy them! Apples you buy

While this was largely due to the similarity on their views regarding Russia and China, the two also

Bush. Despite Carter s fall out with his predecessor, Clinton effectively employed Carter. Their
relationship had an unchallenging beginning due in large part to the similarity in their upbringings and
political affiliations. Despite temporary fallouts, the two collaborate on major foreign policy conflicts

Bush was revived when he found his place in politics. Unlike his more methodical father, W. Bush
was instinctive; moreover, he appealed to the very Evangelical voters which his father had found
elusive to obtain. This was largely because W. Bush separated himself from his father during his

focusing on tougher educational standards (Duffy and Gibbs ?) than his seemingly bipartisan father.
Yet, as they were father and son, H.W. Bush never publicly critiqued W. Bush s foreign policy
decisions, despite many of W. Bush s decisions being incongruous with H.W. Bush s foreign policy
stances (for example, the War in Iraq). Unlike former presidential relationships which often centered
on political alliances, H.W. Bush, Clinton, and W. Bush bonded over non partisan interests natural

Correlation Between Efficacy And Efficacy Of Vascular...
Recently, several studies reported that SP TFESI is a safer alternative to the conventional SA
approach, because of the risk of vascular complications [20]. This study aimed to investigate the
contrast spreading pattern and its correlation with efficacy for SP TFESI. Contrast was examined for
the spread to both the ventral and dorsal epidural spaces, and in cephalic and caudal directions.
Clinical efficacy was significantly correlated with the cephalic spreading pattern. These results
indicate that the spreading of injectate could be one of the factors determining the clinical efficacy in
SP TFESI. Several previous studies reported conflicting results for differences in clinical efficacy
between SA and SP TFESI. [5,15]. Desai et al. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Vassiliev et al. reported preferential spread of contrast onto the medially located nerve roots
(lower level of nerve root) [17,23]. Furman et al. observed an equivalent extent of spread in both the
directions in the presence of 1 mL of contrast [19]. In this study, the contrast medium spread to a
similar degree on our grading system in both the cephalic and caudal directions.
The vertical contrast spread pattern analysis showed a significant correlation between the cephalad
spreading and clinical efficacy in the ventral expansion group. As mentioned above, Desai et al.
confirmed that the more level of vertebra covered by the contrast would lead to a better clinical effect
[15]. More amount of medication passed into the epidural space would eventually lead to increased
flow of medication into the adjacent nerve roots as well as the nerve root of target level. In
concordance to this, we assume that the positive correlation between the vertical contrast extent and
therapeutic effect is a reasonable phenomenon.
In this study, since most patients who underwent L4 5 TFESI were thought to have L5 radiculopathy,
the therapeutic effects might not be the direct results of TFESI on the L4 nerve root. In these cases,
more medial spread of medication might lead to more successful reduction of the L5 root symptoms,
because the L5 root is located medial to the L4 root at L4 5 level. According to Vassiliev s study [17],

Finding The Concentration Of Hard Water Ions
Finding the Concentration of Hard Water Ions in a Water Sample Using Complexometric Titration
By: Alya Barq
CHM 2046L
22 April 2016
Abstract:
Hard water is defined as water with an excess content of ions such as Mg2+ and Ca2+. Hard water
causes a variety of problems, among them being that hard water ions can block pipes and decrease
water flow, can cause scaly deposits to form where there is water contact, and cause an increase in
utility bills due to amassed scales in water heaters. In this experiment, a sample of tap water was
tested in order to determine the concentration of Mg2+, and then this value was compared to a limit
set by the World Health Organization. In order to carry out this task, a complexometric titration was
performed in which EDTA was used as the titrant, and a solution containing the tap water sample,
buffer, indicator, and a solution of MgCl2, was the analyte. It was found that the magnesium ion
concentration in the tap water sample was close to 0 M, and this led to the belief that there was a flaw
in experimental design. Nonetheless, the evaluation of hard water ion concentration in drinking water
and tap water is very important and according to the WHO, it should always be below 500 mg/litre.
Introduction:
Water is given the name hard water when it contains significant concentrations of ions such as Mg2+
and Ca2+. In many places around the United States, significant concentrations of CaCO3 and MgCO3
dissolve into rainwater

Explain The Realism Of The Gulf War
Abstract
The Gulf War was a brief affair between Kuwait and Iraq in 1990 and 1991 when Iraq invaded
Kuwait, yet many additional state and non state parties involved. Realism is a theory attempting to
explain international relationships, which says that states struggle to hold power and will inevitably be

many believe that it is no longer applicable post Cold War.
This paper has three parts. First, it will provide a brief explanation of the Gulf War. Second, it will
explain realism including the view of realism s relevance post Cold War. Finally, it will discuss the
realist interpretation of the actions of three large actors involved in the war: Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and
the United States. This paper will critically discuss the Gulf War and investigate the dynamics and
motivations of the three main actors involved from a realist perspective. This paper will prove that
although realism is no longer overt, hidden intentions and behaviors line up to agree with a realist
methodology in international relations.
Realism is one theory that has been used to explain international relationships. However, many say
that it is less relevant post Cold War due to changes in politics and interactions between states. The ...

Maus Spiegelman Quotes
Experiences hold power to shape people mentally, emotionally, and physically, which then leads them
to find coping mechanisms, whether consciously or subconsciously. Anja Spiegelman sought release
from her tormented memories of the Holocaust through suicide, which left Vladeck to bare the
memories himself. His coping mechanisms include drawing for his son s graphic novel and sharing his
experiences. Art Spiegelman, the son of Holocaust survivors, sought peace with survivor s guilt
through art. He constructed Prisoner on the Hell Planet and then the graphic novel Maus as a method
to understand the divide between his parents and him, as well as to piece together his family history.
Spiegelman utilizes personal photos, a former comic, and a quote to add a visual representation of
emotions to what appears at first glance a cartoon story. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On page 104, one person exclaimed, Now you cry! Better you cried when your mother was still alive!
Spiegelman responded in the comic with, I felt nauseous.... The guilt was overwhelming! By
acknowledging the blame, Spiegelman liberates himself from the inner demons that plague him
regarding his mother s suicide. Finally, the last page of the comic in panel two depicts a combined
image of Anja s suicide, a pile of Jew s bodies, a child in a concentration camp uniform, Spiegelman
with his head in his hand, and a knife cutting the wrist of Anja s arm. The words Menopausal
Depression, Hitler did it, Mommy, and Bitch light the image with jarring expressions, while at the top
of the panel Spiegelman states, ...But for the most part, I was left alone with my thoughts (105).
Spiegelman employs the imagery and words to prove that he was left to bear the thoughts regarding
the Holocaust and Anja s death alone. To process his thoughts, the Prisoner on the Hell Planet comic

Mapping the Man behind the Qing period Garden The symposium, Artful Retreat: Garden Culture of
the Qing Dynasty , jointly organized by the Peabody Essex Museum and Harvard University and held
on 12 13 November 2010, reveals Qianlong s emotional relationships to the Qing gardens. Gathering
scholars from Australia, China, Europe, and the United States, it provides an exceptional opportunity
for ten scholars, such as Hui Zou (Professor of Architecture at the University of Florida) and Mark
Elliott (Professor of Chinese and Inner Asian History in the Department of East Asian Languages and
Civilizations at Harvard University), to share their perspectives on the artistic, political, historical, and
economic aspects of the Qing period garden culture. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Berliner s article, however, is less compelling than these. In order to explain the blend of the artifact
and the natural settings in the Liubei Ting (流杯亭), she gives an example of a Qianlong period vase
with different designs and glazes, asserting that Qianlong liked contrast and preferred to amalgamate
different design elements together. The evidence, yet, is not solid enough to support this argument.
First, the lecturer does not show her evidence objectively, because she only talks about the feature of a
specific vase, rather than a general type. The type of vase that shows sharp contrast between glaze
colors is the wucai (五彩) ware, developing from the sancai (三彩) technique in the Tang dynasty.
Apart from the mixed color vases, there were a lot of other categories of vases in the Qianlong period.
One dominant type is the blue and white ware. Porcelains with famille rose overglaze enamel
decoration were also popular. This kind has the harmonious combination of colors of green, yellow,
black, and rose with blurry edges between colors. Also, these types of porcelain often have auspicious
themes. For instance, the Blue and White Vase of Soft Paste Porcelain with a Lion and an Eagle (Fig.
2) depicts a theme of longevity and happiness. Presenting unity in both the subject matters and the
glaze colors, these vases do not suggest contrast. Instead of rushing into the conclusion that most
Qianlong period vases show contrasts in design, the speaker should have taken other types of vases
into account. Therefore, it cannot persuasively support the argument against the emperor s propensity
for implementing different elements in design. Neither could it justify Qianlong s conscious choice of
integrating the abstract manmade water channel into the realistic natural landscape

himself and his family owned and controlled the two companies who went insolvent. Hobart alleged
that Mr Nagger was either a de facto or shadow director and had breached the duties he owed towards
the company.
The judge in this case, recognised that there is a distinction in the tests between shadow and the facto

what Mr Naggar instructed them on what to do rather then exercising their own powers. Mr Naggar
however denied any involvement with the day to day management of Hobart or that he never gave any
directions to the directors on what to do at the Board meetings
Re Hydrodam explains that a de facto director is a person who assumes to act as a director. To
establish that a person was a de facto director you must prove that he undertook functions in relation
to the company that only a director could discharge. It is not sufficient to show that he was concerned
in the management of the company s affairs.
Mr Naggar in contrast to the facts of this case never claimed to be a director of the company or acted
as one.
Some of the claims brought forward by Hobart in relation to Mr Naggar being a de facto director are
linked to the fact that he was sent daily Open Position Reports that sets out their lists of every client
and market position of the company. Hobart insisted that the fact that he was receiving the OPRs
proved that he was a director rather than a client or shareholder.
Nevertheless even though Mr Naggar insisted on receiving the OPRs it was merely because is

prices fell 10 15 percent over this time period. There were different tactics these premium denim
designers including 7 for mankind, True Religion, Diesel, Joe Jeans and Levi Strauss tried to attempt
to maintain their positions. Some did this by lowering the price of jeans, creating lower priced jeans

Diesel s revenue not only came from making jeans it also came from producing products like wine,
cars, fragrances, sun glasses, shoes, and watches.
Does True Religion enjoy a competitive advantage in the segment? If so, is its advantage sustainable?
I would say that True Religion enjoy a competitive advantage in the segment because this was a
company that had been through a slowdown in sales then rose then fell again. Within the times of
falling revenue the company still managed to develop strategies so that it wouldn t end up like other
companies such as rock amp; republic that filed for bankruptcy. Even when this brand first started out
it had a competitive advantage over 7 for all mankind that only offered 2 basic styles of jeans, True
Religion offered 5 styles. Then overtime True Religion became one of the highest priced on the
market with an average selling point of $196 for woman s jeans and $192 for men s jeans in 2009 .
This gives give the True Religion brand jeans the sustainability that it needs to stay ahead. Another
advantage it had over its competitors is the use of off price retailers such as Nordstrom rack and its
outlet stores which lead to slow moving and obsolete inventory . True Religion s was able to sustain
exclusive third party distributors to gain access to upscale retailers in foreign markets. They did this
by selling their products to

The Social Problem Of Family Violence And Abuse
The social problem I decided to discuss is the subject of family violence and abuse, which includes
spouses and children. Now, as Ember and Ember explain in the text, in order to deal with violence
within families, we must first decide on what should be classified as abuse and what is not (Ember
Ember, pg. 230). The word abuse can have various definitions across cultures, as not everyone thinks
of it in the same way. To some, hitting a child is a perfectly acceptable form of punishment and of wife
beating can be seen in a male dominating household as a necessary act to keep a spouse in check. I
personally believe that abuse can be defined as the repeatedly cruel or violent treatment of someone,
mainly intended to do harm against that person. I believe that in order to combat this problem, there is
a few main actions that can be done that can at least reduce the amount of family violence we see
throughout cultures. For one, people need to acknowledge that family violence, both domestic
violence and child abuse is real and exists throughout countless societies and communities. The
second is to realize that family violence is not a necessary behavior and can actually have long lasting
and damaging effects on the people we love the most. The third action is to educate people in
alternative ways they can deal with their family members without having to resort to violence.
The first most important step in solving any problem is to actually express that there is a problem in

instructed the supervisors to inspect press tooling just before the start of each production batch to
ensure that there are no surface faults, so I think it is unlikely that the dents and blemishes are caused
in production. I must make a point of checking that this is happening. Anyway, our final inspection
sampling has been changed to give an acceptable quality level (AQL) of 2 per cent whereas until
recently it was only 5 per cent. We have had to increase the number of final inspectors by four at a
cost of £15 000 each per annum, but all the management team agrees that with quality products we
must be confident of the final quality before packing. We trained some of our best assemblers in SPC

most quality problems here must be caused by occasional operator carelessness.

The Differences Which the Regions of New England and...
Although the New England and Chesapeake regions of the United States were both settled by the
English in the 1600s, they developed into two very different communities based mainly on their
geographical location and religious devotion. Unlike their European rivals, the English founded
colonies in North America.
Settlers in the Chesapeake region used force to take possession of Indian lands. The Chesapeake
region of the colonies included Virginia, Maryland, the New Jerseys and Pennsylvania. In 1607,
Jamestown (the first English colony in the New World) was founded by a group of settlers along the

owners relied on them to become their own indentured servants.
New England was north of the Chesapeake, and included Massachusetts Bay Colony, Plymouth,
Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New Haven (which soon became part of Connecticut). The New
Englanders were largely Puritan Separatists, who sought religious freedom. They came in large
groups, or families, bringing with them their children and servants because they wanted to
permanently settle in America without returning to England. When the Church of England separated
from Catholicism under Henry VIII, Protestantism flourished in England. Some Protestants, however,
wanted complete separation from Catholicism and looked to Calvinism. These Separatists, along with
the Catholics who had not joined the Church of England, came to New England in hopes of finding
this religious freedom where they would be free to have their own beliefs. The farms that they had
been left with were much smaller and less productive. The farmers were in need of more land, and
they had to fight with Indians over land rights. This had led to Bacon s Rebellion of 1676. Although
the rebellion was not successful, it was one of the major economic and political developments in the
American colonies. New England settlers reproduced much of England s economy, with only minor
variations. They did not invest

Developmental Stages And Theories Of Development
Developmental Stages and Theories
There are many areas in which an individual must develop to reach a mature level of adulthood.
Several theories and ideas have been created in an attempt to describe the process that in which the
individual passes to reach the desired levels of maturity. A few of those theories will be addressed in
better understanding the development of Precious on a psychological and social plane. It can be
assumed from observing Precious that she has been biologically developing normal as she is
experiencing growth and hormonal changes and dealing with acne and obesity.
Psychological
Erik Erikson, in seeking to understand and describe human development, developed a theory in the
early 1900s. His theory progressed to assume that humans must deal with or cope with the conflicts of
a certain stage of life before they can move on to a higher level of development (Ashford et al, 2013).
He organized eight different stages of psychosocial development from infancy to old age. Each of the
eight stages represents an internal conflict that will greatly define who and individual becomes and the
choices they will make later in life based on their experiences within each stage. During the adolescent
years, the conflict of interest in Erikson s psychosocial theory deals with identity and identity
confusion (Ashford et al, 2013). These years are crucial in developing a youth s self esteem. Young
people are highly self conscious. Their perceptions of self

Credit Risk
The issues identification the type of risk involved both financial institution that related to the credit
risk that is credit is the risk of losses owing to the fact that counterparties may be unwilling or unable
to fulfil their contractual obligations. Its effect is measured by the cost of replacing cash flows if the
other party defaults. This loss encompasses the exposure ,or amount at risk, and the recovery rate,
which is the proportion paid back to the lender, usually measured in terms of cents on the dollar .
Losses owing to credit risk, however , can occur before the actual default. More generally , credit risk
should be defined as the potential loss in mark to market value that may be incurred owing to the
occurrence of a credit event. A credit event occurs when there is a charge in the counterparty s ability
to perform its obligations. Thus changes in market s perception of default also can be viewed as credit

sovereign risk. This occurs, for instance, when countries impose foreign exchange controls that make
it impossible for counterparties to honour their obligations. Beside that, credit risk of financial loss

by interviewing employees about their views and perceptions of causes and effects of job stress and
what areas that calls for improvement. To get a broader picture of the employee perceptions, an
employee survey was sent out to a larger group of employees working in the Gothenburg area. It is
clear that construction personnel suffer from a high level of occupational stress. A difference was

This leaves the company, along with other construction companies in the industry, dependent on
unskilled labour, which in turn brings its own risks. It may increase mistakes and safety risks through
miscommunication and lack of knowledge of how certain tasks should be performed accurately.
However, this is in issue to the whole industry, as it is a scarcity of personnel. It is clear that
construction projects depend on the employees knowledge and skills in planning and executing the
work, but as mentioned, it is increasingly difficult to find those people. Moreover, this makes it
increasingly important to sufficiently train newly hired employees, as they are a necessity in current
projects. It was notified that newly hired personnel may not receive adequate training at all times, as
experienced individuals do not always feel they have time to take care of them properly. This in turn,
could be seen as very harmful to the business, as it may take longer time for them to learn, but the

An Ongoing Adolescence
Translated to its literal meaning pulling in or withdrawal (Grisafe 2012), hikikomori is a Japanese
phenomenon that has been a prominent social issue for years. First coming to light in1998, Japanese
physiatrist, Tamaki Saito introduced the mental health issue in his book Hikikomori: An ongoing
adolescence (Senju 2013). Today, the issue is increasingly worrying for not only Japan, but other
international countries as young to middle aged men and women continue to drive towards the trend
of complete reclusive behavior and acute social withdrawal. As of today, over one million people in
Japan are hikikomori.

Due to their parent s high expectations to succeed in school, many victims may choose to isolate
themselves as failure in school and a lack of social support can keep the hikikomori locked away for
years. In Japan there is extreme pressure to get into a good university and get a well paid job. For
some, failing to do so results in people shutting themselves in.
A large aspect of Japan s enormous pressure on students comes from the entrance exams that students
are required to take to get into specific junior high schools, high schools and universities. Failure to
gain entry is a leading factor in becoming a hikikomori. The work required to do well in the
infamously difficult entrance exams consists of extended hours of study and cramming schools,
otherwise known as gakushū juku(学習塾)or juku (塾) for short (Suzuki 2013). These fast paced, late
night schools leave students with minimal hours of sleep and social time and extended period of study
and cramming. Approximately 60% of all Japanese high school students attend juku (Cram Schools
n.d.). Gogatsu byō (May Disease, 五月病) is another school related motive of the hikikomori. It is
when one doesn t know how to cope with a change in their school or work environment, which results
in overwhelming stress. It is closely related with depression.

Rueter (1995) provides a detailed look into the world of politics during the civil rights era. Rueter
asserts that prior to the civil rights era, the Republican Party was not as effective in gaining rights for
minorities compared to proposals made by the Democratic Party in the 1960s. He states that it was
clear to minorities that the Democratic Party was more supportive of civil rights versus Republicans
due to their lack of voting support of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
Because of this, Republicans were seen as being against minorities due to their lack of cooperation
with the Democratic Party to end segregation and with President Johnson to allow equal voting rights
(240 1). The Civil Rights Act of 1964 barred unequal application of voter registration requirements,
outlawed discrimination in public accommodations engaged in interstate commerce, encouraged the

had started to extend its aid into Latin America and Asia. Eleanor Roosevelt, the U.S. delegate to the
UN argued that UNICEF was a temporary group to help children after war and not that it s over the

delegate to the UN, Ahmed Shah Bokhari, argued against Roosevelt in saying that the images of
European children after the war are the realities of children living in other regions every day. In 1950,
it was agreed that UNICEF s charter would be renewed for another 3 years, and then in 1953,
Roosevelt argued to make the organization permanent. It then decided to drop the words international

its full acronym as UNICEF.
In the 1950s, UNICEF spiraled into a set of mass campaigns of epidemic diseases such as

  • 2. The E Coli Is A Gram Negative, Rod Shaped Bacterium The E coli is a gram negative, rod shaped bacterium. It can grow under aerobic (extra intestinal) or anaerobic conditions (intestine) and is the predominant facultive organism in human s GI tract. It belongs to the bacterial family of Enterobacteriaceae. It is an important member of the intestinal human s micro flora. It usually adheres to the mucus overlying the large intestine. Nowadays, pathogenic E coli are classified based on their unique virulence factors. Pathogenic strains of the bacterium cause three different diseases: (8) Urinary tract infections Neonatal meningitis Intestinal diseases Each of the diseases depends on different expression of virulence factors such as adhesins, invasins, chemotaxis, toxins and the ability of the E coli to defend its host. (8) Uropathogenic E coli colonize from perineal region and ascend to the bladder. The virulence factor expressed is P fimbria. The strains also express other virulence factors such as siderophores that play a role in obtainment of iron for the bacteria. They also express haemolysins. A haemolysin lyse the lymphocytes and β haemolysin inhibits the phagocytosis of neutrophils. Another virulence factor is the resistance to the complement dependent bactericidal effect. The presence of K antigens promotes bacterial virulence by decreasing the ability of antibodies or complement to bind to the bacterial cell surface and cause the loss of phagocyte s ability to recognize and destroy them. • 3. Dihybrid Cross Lab Report Discussion (1226 words) From dihybrid test crosses, map distances of 0.69 m.u. between purple and apterous, 5.71 m.u. between black and purple, and 7.56 m.u. between black and apterous genes were determined. The calculated map distances of 0.69 and 5.71 between more closely linked genes are consistent with published distances of 0.7 and 6 map units respectively. Inconsistencies between published data and calculated map distances in regards to larger map distances, such as between black and apterous genes, are due to the nature of dihybrid test crosses. The greater distance between black and apterous genes increases the likelihood of multiple crossovers. Double crossovers are unaccounted for in dihybrid crosses, thus resulting in RF and map ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, more accurate RF and map distances are generated from trihybrid crosses. Moreover, double recombinants are useful in determining gene order in trihybrid crosses. The simultaneous derivation of map distances and gene order from a single cross signify the efficiency of trihybrid crosses. Limitations of this method of gene mapping decrease accuracy of data (Hartwell et al. 2004). The map generated from dihybrid crosses does not directly translate to the physical location of genes on a chromosome. While gene order is maintained, map distances may not correlate with distances on chromosomes. This is because DNA between genes does not always correspond with map units, and due to multiple crossovers which are unaccounted for in trihybrid crosses. This increases inaccuracy of data, especially between more separated genes. Further, the 50% RF limit leads to less detailed measurements of distances on chromosomes. As recombination does not occur more than 50% of the time, genes further apart on chromosomes cannot be accurately mapped. However, a more accurate map can be established through adding smaller distances. Emerging techniques facilitate genetic mapping in humans (Altshuler et al. 2008). Genome wide association studies through mapping single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are useful in identifying loci associated with disease susceptibility. SNPs are common genetic variations which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Evolution Of Youth Sports Youth sports have taken on a whole different identity, thus changing the sporting experience for youth athletes. Today this is what we have, Children are playing fewer sports, and the less talented are left behind in recreational leagues with poor coaching, uneven play and the message that they aren t good enough (Rosenwald). Youth sports used to be much more relaxed and focused on creating an environment for kids to develop socially more than athletically. Yes, skills were still taught during practice, but not with such an intensity that exists today. Today, some youth teams take training and winning very seriously. It has become customary for kids to play on elite teams from a very young age. This creates a gap between the more talented ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Driving On The Road Rage Drivers come in many different types, and each has their own characteristics. When you are driving, you can encounter a lot of different types of drivers. The four most known ones are the aggressive driver, the speeder, the kind driver, and the multitasker. All four of these characteristics are very different so you will be able to tell which drivers fall in which categories. Every driver has a destination they are trying to reach and these four characteristics of drivers have a different way of reaching that destination. When you are driving on the roads, you will likely encounter an aggressive driver. They usually make themselves noticeable by cutting people off and yelling at other drivers. They seem to always be in a rush to get to their destination so they will do what they need to do to get there. Other aggressive drivers can be the type to yell and curse at other drivers because of frustration which is known as road rage. Someone that has road rage typically will get upset over something that is not a big deal and yell at other drivers. These type of drivers are the ones people try to avoid so they do not get involved in a confrontation so they just ignore them. No matter where you are driving, there are drivers that speed all around you. Some people will go twenty miles an hour over the speed limit just because they want to get to their destination faster. They will cut people off just to be able to maintain a high speed. There are many risks when someone is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Comparison Between William Wordsworth s Upon Westminster Bridge and William Blake s London The English Romantic period spanned between 1789 and 1824. This period was not so called until the mid 19th century when readers began to see six different poets as part of the same movement. These poets were William Blake, William Wordsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Lord Byron, Percy Shelly and John Keats. Some aspects of Romantic poetry were; there was an increasing interest in nature; there was an increased interest in landscape and scenery; human moods were connected to the moods of nature. In Upon Westminster Bridge, Wordsworth uses the format of a Petrarchan sonnet whereas in London, William Blake uses the format of long hymnal measure. It is clear that this poem is a sonnet because it has fourteen lines and ten syllables in each line. In Upon Westminster Bridge the rhyme scheme is abbaabba cdcdcd and is split up into an octave and then a sestet and this means that is a Petrarchan sonnet. If you take a closer look at the poem you will notice that the octave and the sestet are simply two whole sentences. This helps to maintain the flowing rhythm of the poem and better defines the difference between the octave and sestet. In this form the subject is projected and developed in the octave and then the sestet must release the tension which has been built up. The point at which I think the tension is released is in the final two lines. Dear God! The very houses seem asleep; And all that mighty heart is lying still! Wordsworth added this final couplet in order to get the epigrammatic effect which is characteristic of the Shakespearean sonnet which is a sonnet that contains three quatrains and a couplet. In London, long hymnal measure is used. It has a rhyme scheme of abab which helps to maintain a steady rhythm and pace throughout the poem. • 8. Change Of The Century By Ornette Coleman Analysis In the scope of the jazz community, Ornette Coleman is one of the most prominent representatives of free jazz. Coleman is known for his free jazz compositions as well as his saxophone performances. Throughout his piece, Change of the Century , one can hear the saxophonist and trumpeter playing trills and scale patterns. The sounds are abrupt and are played on random beats of the measure. To give some historical context, when Coleman s album, Change of the Century, was released in 1960, Martin Luther King Jr. and other activists were staging sit ins in Southern restaurants. With the political climate of the 1960s in perspective, to the educated listener, the bursts of sound in Change of the Century now seem indignant. It is not hard to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the instruments of free jazz are the same, the standard jazz composition patterns are not. According to German musicologist Ekkehard Jost, the only rule of free jazz is the negation of traditional norms (Jost 9). While other styles like bebop or swing have set measures or keys, free jazz does not have the same constraints. There are no fixed rhythms, melodies, and harmonies; if Coleman started a song in the key of Bb, there was no say in what key he would end with. Coleman s free jazz songs also have another recurring component: harmolodics. In an interview with Wire magazine, Coleman defines harmolodics as an element where all ideas all relationships and harmony are equally in unison ( Interview with Ornette Coleman ). Upon reading this vague definition, the real meaning of harmolodics escapes both myself and many other jazz scholars. Nevertheless, these improvised sections between instruments are present in many of Coleman s songs. The term free jazz was first coined from Coleman s album titled Free Jazz: A Collective Improvisation. The album starts off with all of the woodwinds and brass and continues with improvised solos from the clarinet, trumpet, saxophone, bass, and drums. Coleman uses the twelve bar blues form and experiments with harmonic improvisation between the musicians. Reviews for Coleman s album were conflicting; Pete Welding, record producer, gave the recordings five stars, citing it is by all odds ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Abraham Promises The Bible teaches that God s longing to redeem the world has always been His desire, but sinful man has refused God s grace. The appeal to man to turn from his selfish ways dates back to the Old Testament and is clearly displayed in the actions God puts into place with Abraham and the formation of the nation of Israel. These activities are evident in Abraham and the nation of Israel through promises made, examples to show His glory, and Israel s comparison to the Church today. Promises Made In Genesis, God promised blessings to Abraham that would carry to his descendants (Gen. 12:2 3 [NASB]).1 Through these blessings, one man and his family would benefit the whole world and begin a process of ingathering from the darkness and disintegration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As part of those activities, the Scripture clearly indicates His desire to declare Himself to all nations, tongues, and tribes. Walter Kaiser explains that the Old Testament unfolds a plan (Gen. 12:3), a purpose (Ps. 67:1 7) and the need for participation (Exod. 19:4 6) by the nation of Israel.11 There are three significant areas that serve as evidence of God s intentions. They are the use of the Israelites to reach the world as a proclamation, Abraham s specific calling to become a priestly nation, and the nation as an example. God s plan and work are directed to the entire of humanity with His desire to save all of mankind.12 However, man s struggle against God is apparent in events such as the attempt to reach heaven at Babel (Gen. 11:1 9) and the universal condemnation of wickedness, which caused the great flood (Gen. 6:5).13 Israel was designed to be a solid foundation for other nations to turn to. Verkuyl states that even the nations who oppose God will one day celebrate in restored fellowship.14 Israel will become the permanent presence of God s people acting and relating with the world. God s word even makes provision to those who choose to join the nation and accepts them as one born into the community (Exod. 12:48 49).15 While they were never to become part of the world, Isreal was to live in the world and be set aside for the purposes of ... A Experiment Of Mendelian Genetics Brassica Rapa Experiment of Mendelian Genetics Genetics 304 Dr. Assefa Dec 08, 2010 Introduction Gregor Johann Mendel, the father of genetics, was born in 1822. He was a priest and scientist who became famous for his work and studies on the inheritance patterns using pea plants. Gregor Mendel used pea plants known as Pisumsativum in his research where he developed two fundamental laws of genetics known today as the Law of segregation , and the Law of independent assortment (Hartl, 1992). The Law of segregation states that when an individual produces a gamete, the copies of a given gene separate in which each gamete receives only one copy of that gene. The Chi Square ( ) test was used in this experiment to determine whether the statistical data supports or rejects the hypothesis. Materials and Methods The experiment was successfully accomplished in classroom where the Brassica Rapa were grown under suitable conditions. The experiment began by developing a watering system to the plants using the idea of capillary action. The watering system was made up of a plastic reservoir filled with a certain amount of water and a water mat placed on the top of the plastic reservoir. This design was helpful in making sure that the plants are receiving water constantly. Also, one piece of copper sulfate was addedinto the reservoir to avoid any algal growth. Two Styrofoam quads with four cells each were used for planting the seeds of Brassica Rapa. The cells were numbered from one to eight and a wick was placed in each cell in a way that allowed water access from the water mat through the capillary action. Each cell was then half way filled with soil and two fertilizers were placed in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Catch And Release Is Inhumane Catch and Release of Fish: Inhumane or Humane to Trout Populations A debate that has recently been brought more into focus in the public eye is that of whether catch and release is humane or inhumane to trout populations. Recent hype on conservation of our natural and surrounding environment has increasingly gained popularity through conservation efforts. It is through conservation efforts that the question of, catch and release has gained more attention as a means to determine if a law that was put into effect to protect and insure the healthy population of trout, may be contributed to a possible decrease in trout populations. This leads one to examine the opinions and studies of trout populations within our area. One reason catch ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, the estimates of mortality from catch and release are now tied into fishery management. Scientist are discovering that other environmental factors are posing more of a danger to fish than fisherman. She loves to write but her husband will not allow to do the things she loves. The character feels very depressed, lonely, and trapped. Similarly to the Story of an Hour, the woman is depressed and felt captivated by her husband also. She is so unbearably happy when she thinks her husband died, because she can sense freedom beginning. Although, her husband is not dead and returns to the house, this is so incredibly shocking and heartbreaking the wife dies. Female authors tend towards more selfless and passionate stories. The Story of an Hour and The Yellow Wallpaper are examples of selfless and passionate stories. They both are selfless by not having freedom and feeling controlled by their husbands. • 13. Speech On Healthy Food Ever since I was a kid, healthy food has been a hot topic. My mom had the food pyramid on our fridge and I remember staring at the thing wondering if I had gotten the right amount of each food group in. I remember that food pyramid being such a magical tool for healthy eating. That was before the Internet. Now we have a ton of information at our fingertips about how to eat, what to eat, and when to eat. Everyone has a different idea on what healthy food is, but if we are honest with ourselves, we pretty much know the basics of eating healthy. Following are some quotes on healthy food that may remind you what healthy food is really all about and inspire you to eat more of it. [poll id= 7 ] 1. Healthy Food Is Accessible For Many Of Us Support a strong and healthy food system by supporting our local farmers! Danielle Nierenberg Most of us have a farmer s market close enough to us that we can make it there. It s important to go to these markets or buy from our local farmers. Why? Well, for one, they sell all those healthy foods that we should be eating. And those foods are in season, which means they are fresh and are not covered in preservatives to make them last longer than they should. For instance, if your farmer s market has a fruit stand, and apples are there, buy them! Apples you buy in the supermarket travel long distances and are treated with chemicals and wax so that they will last up to a year. Why eat apples with chemicals when you can buy apples that were ... • 17. Correlation Between Efficacy And Efficacy Of Vascular... Recently, several studies reported that SP TFESI is a safer alternative to the conventional SA approach, because of the risk of vascular complications [20]. This study aimed to investigate the contrast spreading pattern and its correlation with efficacy for SP TFESI. Contrast was examined for the spread to both the ventral and dorsal epidural spaces, and in cephalic and caudal directions. Clinical efficacy was significantly correlated with the cephalic spreading pattern. These results indicate that the spreading of injectate could be one of the factors determining the clinical efficacy in SP TFESI. Several previous studies reported conflicting results for differences in clinical efficacy between SA and SP TFESI. [5,15]. Desai et al. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Vassiliev et al. reported preferential spread of contrast onto the medially located nerve roots (lower level of nerve root) [17,23]. Furman et al. observed an equivalent extent of spread in both the directions in the presence of 1 mL of contrast [19]. In this study, the contrast medium spread to a similar degree on our grading system in both the cephalic and caudal directions. The vertical contrast spread pattern analysis showed a significant correlation between the cephalad spreading and clinical efficacy in the ventral expansion group. As mentioned above, Desai et al. confirmed that the more level of vertebra covered by the contrast would lead to a better clinical effect [15]. More amount of medication passed into the epidural space would eventually lead to increased flow of medication into the adjacent nerve roots as well as the nerve root of target level. In concordance to this, we assume that the positive correlation between the vertical contrast extent and therapeutic effect is a reasonable phenomenon. In this study, since most patients who underwent L4 5 TFESI were thought to have L5 radiculopathy, the therapeutic effects might not be the direct results of TFESI on the L4 nerve root. In these cases, more medial spread of medication might lead to more successful reduction of the L5 root symptoms, because the L5 root is located medial to the L4 root at L4 5 level. Finding The Concentration Of Hard Water Ions Finding the Concentration of Hard Water Ions in a Water Sample Using Complexometric Titration By: Alya Barq CHM 2046L 22 April 2016 Abstract: Hard water is defined as water with an excess content of ions such as Mg2+ and Ca2+. Hard water causes a variety of problems, among them being that hard water ions can block pipes and decrease water flow, can cause scaly deposits to form where there is water contact, and cause an increase in utility bills due to amassed scales in water heaters. In this experiment, a sample of tap water was tested in order to determine the concentration of Mg2+, and then this value was compared to a limit set by the World Health Organization. In order to carry out this task, a complexometric titration was performed in which EDTA was used as the titrant, and a solution containing the tap water sample, buffer, indicator, and a solution of MgCl2, was the analyte. It was found that the magnesium ion concentration in the tap water sample was close to 0 M, and this led to the belief that there was a flaw in experimental design. Nonetheless, the evaluation of hard water ion concentration in drinking water and tap water is very important and according to the WHO, it should always be below 500 mg/litre. Realism is a theory attempting to explain international relationships, which says that states struggle to hold power and will inevitably be in conflict with each other because of this. Although realism was a core theory before the Cold War, many believe that it is no longer applicable post Cold War. This paper has three parts. First, it will provide a brief explanation of the Gulf War. Second, it will explain realism including the view of realism s relevance post Cold War. Finally, it will discuss the realist interpretation of the actions of three large actors involved in the war: Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and the United States. This paper will critically discuss the Gulf War and investigate the dynamics and motivations of the three main actors involved from a realist perspective. This paper will prove that although realism is no longer overt, hidden intentions and behaviors line up to agree with a realist methodology in international relations. In order to explain the blend of the artifact and the natural settings in the Liubei Ting (流杯亭), she gives an example of a Qianlong period vase with different designs and glazes, asserting that Qianlong liked contrast and preferred to amalgamate different design elements together. The evidence, yet, is not solid enough to support this argument. First, the lecturer does not show her evidence objectively, because she only talks about the feature of a specific vase, rather than a general type. The type of vase that shows sharp contrast between glaze colors is the wucai (五彩) ware, developing from the sancai (三彩) technique in the Tang dynasty. Apart from the mixed color vases, there were a lot of other categories of vases in the Qianlong period. One dominant type is the blue and white ware. Porcelains with famille rose overglaze enamel decoration were also popular. This kind has the harmonious combination of colors of green, yellow, black, and rose with blurry edges between colors. Also, these types of porcelain often have auspicious themes. For instance, the Blue and White Vase of Soft Paste Porcelain with a Lion and an Eagle (Fig. 2) depicts a theme of longevity and happiness. Presenting unity in both the subject matters and the glaze colors, these vases do not suggest contrast. Instead of rushing into the conclusion that most Qianlong period vases show contrasts in design, the speaker should have taken other types of vases into account. Therefore, it cannot persuasively support the argument against the emperor s propensity for implementing different elements in design. Neither could it justify Qianlong s conscious choice of integrating the abstract manmade water channel into the realistic natural landscape ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Now, as Ember and Ember explain in the text, in order to deal with violence within families, we must first decide on what should be classified as abuse and what is not (Ember Ember, pg. 230). The word abuse can have various definitions across cultures, as not everyone thinks of it in the same way. To some, hitting a child is a perfectly acceptable form of punishment and of wife beating can be seen in a male dominating household as a necessary act to keep a spouse in check. I personally believe that abuse can be defined as the repeatedly cruel or violent treatment of someone, mainly intended to do harm against that person. I believe that in order to combat this problem, there is a few main actions that can be done that can at least reduce the amount of family violence we see throughout cultures. For one, people need to acknowledge that family violence, both domestic violence and child abuse is real and exists throughout countless societies and communities. The second is to realize that family violence is not a necessary behavior and can actually have long lasting and damaging effects on the people we love the most. The third action is to educate people in alternative ways they can deal with their family members without having to resort to violence. Several theories and ideas have been created in an attempt to describe the process that in which the individual passes to reach the desired levels of maturity. It can be assumed from observing Precious that she has been biologically developing normal as she is experiencing growth and hormonal changes and dealing with acne and obesity. His theory progressed to assume that humans must deal with or cope with the conflicts of a certain stage of life before they can move on to a higher level of development (Ashford et al, 2013). He organized eight different stages of psychosocial development from infancy to old age. Each of the eight stages represents an internal conflict that will greatly define who and individual becomes and the choices they will make later in life based on their experiences within each stage.
