5. Tips to get noticed
Don’t post about sweepstakes or give-aways without
any context. Write a few lines about yourself, why
you’re doing the contest, etc.

6. Tips to get noticed
Don’t use the same content over and over. Be careful
with reusing the same phrases or even complete
paragraphs, for instance the part where you describe
your product.

7. Tips to get noticed
Post new links. Facebook loves fresh content more
than reposting or sharing existing content. And it likes
content from high-volume (thus trustworthy) sites
more than relatively smaller sites. These links will
show up if enough people like them of course.

8. Tips to get noticed
Be intentional about getting likes, comments, and shares
without asking for them. Words like ‘like this post, ‘please
share’ etc. may get you blocked from news feeds. At the
same time, posts that get lots of interaction in a short time,
will start showing up in more and more news feeds. That’s
why timing matters so much, as does posting stuff that
people will like or comment on without being asked.

10. Tips to get noticed
Good to know:
despite their
popularity, Facebook
doesn’t like memes all
that much.

11. Tips to get noticed
If you post more than once on a day, or even more
than once every few days, Facebook may ‘bundle’ your
posts and show a ‘Read all’ link (for Pages at least).
That’s usually not something people notice, so it will
lower your visibility. Ergo: don’t post too much.

12. Tips to get noticed
Post directly on Facebook. Posts
coming in through other channels
(including social media services
where you can update all social
media at once) will rank lower. An
exception is Instagram, since
Facebook owns it.

feeds/?utm_campaign=coschedule&utm_source=facebook_page&utm_medium=ChurchMag&utm_content=Getting Facebook Post Into News Feeds
13. Tips to get noticed
Uploading videos directly onto Facebook is more
effective than merely posting links to videos. If people
can watch it without leaving Facebook, it’s more likely
to show up in their timeline.
Blom, R. (2015, January 12). Getting Facebook Post Into News Feeds. Retrieved February 9, 2015, from http://churchm.ag/facebook-posts-news-
feeds/?utm_campaign=coschedule&utm_source=facebook_page&utm_medium=ChurchMag&utm_content=Getting Facebook Post Into News Feeds
14. Tips to get noticed
Don’t use link shorteners but make sure to post the
full link. Because they redirect people to the definitive
link, Facebook thinks people don’t like the link and
won’t show it again.

15. Tips to get noticed
Consistently post high quality content. If you
have a few posts that don’t do well, this may
result in lower visibility.

16. Paid Reach – aka “Boosting”
Mixed reviews in the trade magazines about using
Boosting your posts as a method to get people to see
your information
17. Paid Reach – aka “Boosting”
When you click Boost Post, you have the option to
choose either pushing the post to “People who like
your page and their friends” or “People you choose
through targeting.” You’ll also be able to set your
budget and whether it is a per click or over life time.
18. Paid Reach – aka “Promoting”
Basically the same thing as Boosting but you
have more control over the targeting features of
the engagement.

Editor's Notes
This class assumes that you are already on facebook and/or are starting to take the plunge. Not going to dwell on why but rather what you do once you get there.
Survey link was distributed to consumers primarily by facebook and email marketing
Find out where your customers are – don’t put a huge chunk of your time into any social media without checking to see if 1 – your customers are there or 2 – your POTENTIAL customers are there – How are you going to attract potential customers to your business?
Post at the right time. Chances of someone seeing your post increase if you post it during your peak viewing hours. Look at your “Insights” and “Posts” tabs to see your peak times. Stats for Cross My Heart show that we are most viewed between 9 am and 9 pm with the highest peak at 5 pm.
Facebook has recently changed it’s algorithm – it views repeat content as “SPAM” and may or may not deliver to a person’s time line.
This is a great place to post links to your blog or website content. Don’t just post the link to the content, however. Post some descriptive information about what is in the link. Avoid the trend to “Needlework shop goes to Nashville and you won’t believe what she does there”
Great content will be reposted. Try sending out tips, articles about people doing great stuff with their needlework, etc.
You could try referencing a trending topic, as Facebook likes this. But—and this is an important but—make sure it fits your ‘brand’. There’s no use in jumping on a hype just for the sake of it. You can see what’s trending in the right sidebar of the Facebook site by the way (desktop version). Try tagging other pages in your text. Facebook favors pages with complete profiles that get a lot of interaction and it downright loves pages with more ‘authority’ (meaning high volume of followers and interaction).
I haven’t noticed this as much – but may start happening – the algorithm didn’t change until a few weeks ago so it may take some time for it to aggregate
This is really a bummer. Especially if you have your Twitter and Facebook feeds linked, use my favorite Hootsuite or any other service that makes life easier. Facebook loves facebook and wants you using it instead of another company
Again, bummer if you have a youtube page and want to upload once and done, but again, facebook loves facebook so you have to play by their rules or make and informed decision about breaking those rules. Facebook video uploads are limited to 1GB or 20 minutes whichever is smallest.
BUT – also be real – you need to be you. Not all of your posts are going to be 5 star. Don’t Fret.
Promoting a sale? Use an ad. Boost posts that you thing your customers would have a great interest in – like a new technique or finishing thing that you think is cool. Great way to use this is to get people to sign up for stuff.
Promoting a sale? Use an ad. Boost posts that you thing your customers would have a great interest in – like a new technique or finishing thing that you think is cool.
Promoting a post is a bridge between an ad and boosting. It takes a posts content and turns it into an ad.
People expect to be asked to pay money for something when they click on an ad. Think about how you read facebook – do you get annoyed when you see those “recommended for you” ads in the middle of your time line? Those are the boosted and promoted posts! Ads are identified as ads and are run along the right hands side of the time line. When they do appear in the time line, they are identified as ads. You have all sorts of targeting and budget options for this as well. ROI – make sure that you have some level of tracking on these ads – otherwise you won’t have a clue as to if it worked or not. Consider some sort of give away for having customer respond to the ad – i.e. give them a code to read back to you, drawing etc.
The ads creator will help you with targeting in that it will ask you what your goal of the ad is – is it increased awareness, buy something, get people to go to your site, etc. After creating your ad, there is a page, like your insights page, where it will direct you to that will show how your ad is doing in terms of reach, clicks, etc.
You can import your email list into your facebook pages account and match up people who are on your email list that are also on facebook but perhaps haven’t found you on facebook yet. When you target your audience, your ads/boosts/etc will also go to those people. You can find this under “Build Audience” (top right of your page content) “Use Ads Manager” (on the drop down box) and “Custom Audience” (in the left hand column)
Located in your header image – this is a really cool new feature – can do a shop now, contact us, all sorts of things. FREE!
