1. Go to the Facebook
Ad Account
2. Click the green
“Create an Ad”
button in the top
right corner

3. Select the
appropriate category
from the results
menu.
▫ For example, if
you’re trying to
drive people to a
website you’d
choose “Clicks to
Website.”

information on the
page:
▫ URL
▫ Image(s)
TIP: It’s usually a good
idea to keep
campaigns 18+

5. Upload images
▫ If you upload multiple
images, the system
will create multiple
ads.
▫ Only upload images if
you want the same ad
copy to appear with
different images!
▫ If you want different
ad copies to appear
with different images,
upload one per ad!

6. If your organization has
a Facebook page and
you want to enable ads
that will appear in user
News Feeds, select the
appropriate page from
the drop down menu.

7. Enter your keywords
in the “Interests”
box.
▫ Keep in mind that
these are based on
existing user
interests/pages!

• Selecting Key words & phrases
▫ Many of the terms you’d like to include may not be
available.
▫ If you’re having trouble getting the words you want
to appear, experiment with related terms and
themes.
▫ Think about phrases or people related to your issue!
▫ What would you look for if you were searching for
the issue?

8. Under “Campaign and
Budget” assign your ad
group a name and budget
▫ Most Beekeeper
campaigns operate with a
fixed lifetime budget
▫ Select “ Lifetime Budget”
▫ Make sure that this
budget takes into account
Beekeeper’s 15 percent
commission!
▫ Check with a partner if
you have questions about
this!

9. Set a start and
end date for the
campaign

10. Under “Bidding and
Pricing:”
▫ Select “Bid for Clicks” if
the goal is to drive people
to a page or website.
▫ Select “Bid for
Impressions” if the goal is
to show ads to as many
people as possible
• Most Beekeeper
campaigns are click
campaigns (also known
as cost-per-click (CPC)).

11. For CPC campaigns, select
“Manually set your
maximum bid for clicks”
▫ Enter a bid price for clicks
▫ Suggested big prices are
displayed on the right side
under the “Audience
Definition” box, which is
visible if you scroll up the
page
▫ It’s usually good to bid at or
above the suggested max
bid price when first
starting, and adjust as the
campaign continues

12. Click “Review Order”
13. You’ll be taken back to the
full list of campaign/ads
▫ Re-title your ad(s) by
hovering your cursor over
the existing ad name and
clicking on the pencil that
appears on the right side.
▫ Give your ads logical,
uniform names so that
your campaign stays
organized.

14. Once created, ads can take up to several days
to receive approval from Facebook.
▫ Approval is indicated by a green arrow in the
“Status” column

15. Send the client a brief message when ads are in
place and/or live
The ad is up
and running!
Monitoring Your Ad
• Ads often need to be adjusted most at the start
of a campaign
▫ Watch them closely for the first few days
▫ Depending on the client, you may need to obtain
permission before changing settings

• Send the client a brief initial report with
preliminary performance information after 24
hours
• Send a more comprehensive report after a week
Monitoring Your Ad
• Establish a reporting schedule with the client
▫ Depending on the client and campaign length, this
can be daily, weekly, and/or monthly

Facebook ads setting up your ad campaign - beekeeper u

  • 2. Setting Up Your Ad 1. Go to the Facebook Ad Account 2. Click the green “Create an Ad” button in the top right corner

  • 4. Setting Up Your Ad 3. Select the appropriate category from the results menu. ▫ For example, if you’re trying to drive people to a website you’d choose “Clicks to Website.”

  • 6. Setting Up Your Ad 4. Fill out the information on the page: ▫ URL ▫ Image(s) TIP: It’s usually a good idea to keep campaigns 18+

  • 8. Setting Up Your Ads 5. Upload images ▫ If you upload multiple images, the system will create multiple ads. ▫ Only upload images if you want the same ad copy to appear with different images! ▫ If you want different ad copies to appear with different images, upload one per ad!

  • 10. Setting Up Your Ad 6. If your organization has a Facebook page and you want to enable ads that will appear in user News Feeds, select the appropriate page from the drop down menu. YOU WILL NEED TO BE PAGE ADMIN TO DO THIS!

  • 12. Setting Up Your Ad 7. Enter your keywords in the “Interests” box. ▫ Keep in mind that these are based on existing user interests/pages!

Setting Up Your Ad • Selecting Key words & phrases ▫ Many of the terms you’d like to include may not be available. ▫ If you’re having trouble getting the words you want to appear, experiment with related terms and themes. ▫ Think about phrases or people related to your issue! ▫ What would you look for if you were searching for the issue? Experiment with terms! Pick a theme! What is the buzz on this issue?!

Under “Campaign and Budget” assign your ad group a name and budget ▫ Most Beekeeper campaigns operate with a fixed lifetime budget ▫ Select “ Lifetime Budget” ▫ Make sure that this budget takes into account Beekeeper’s 15 percent commission! ▫ Check with a partner if you have questions about this!

Under “Bidding and Pricing:” ▫ Select “Bid for Clicks” if the goal is to drive people to a page or website. ▫ Select “Bid for Impressions” if the goal is to show ads to as many people as possible • Most Beekeeper campaigns are click campaigns (also known as cost-per-click (CPC)).

For CPC campaigns, select “Manually set your maximum bid for clicks” ▫ Enter a bid price for clicks ▫ Suggested big prices are displayed on the right side under the “Audience Definition” box, which is visible if you scroll up the page ▫ It’s usually good to bid at or above the suggested max bid price when first starting, and adjust as the campaign continues

You’ll be taken back to the full list of campaign/ads ▫ Re-title your ad(s) by hovering your cursor over the existing ad name and clicking on the pencil that appears on the right side. ▫ Give your ads logical, uniform names so that your campaign stays organized.

  • 26. Setting Up Your Ad 14. Once created, ads can take up to several days to receive approval from Facebook. ▫ Approval is indicated by a green arrow in the “Status” column
  • 27. Setting Up Your Ad 15. Send the client a brief message when ads are in place and/or live The ad is up and running!
  • 28. Monitoring Your Ad • Ads often need to be adjusted most at the start of a campaign ▫ Watch them closely for the first few days ▫ Depending on the client, you may need to obtain permission before changing settings
  • 29. Monitoring Your Ad • Send the client a brief initial report with preliminary performance information after 24 hours • Send a more comprehensive report after a week
  • 30. Monitoring Your Ad • Establish a reporting schedule with the client ▫ Depending on the client and campaign length, this can be daily, weekly, and/or monthly
