This document describes the seven basic types of folds that occur in fabric: 1. Pipe fold - A tubular fold that occurs from one point of suspension. 2. Zigzag fold - Folds that are interlocked in a repetitive pattern, like a bent pipe fold. 3. Spiral fold - Folds that wrap around a cylindrical shape like an arm or torso. 4. Drop fold - Folds that twist and turn as they fall from points of suspension. 5. Half-lock fold - Occurs when fabric changes direction, appearing to "stop" the fabric. 6. Diaper fold - Forms from two points of support, sweeping between them on a flat surface.
