to a poem and explain why it could stand on its own as a poem is Let Her Go by Passenger. I
chose this song because throughout the song the lyrics consist of many poetic devices. In the song,
there is use of figurative language along with an oxymoron, alliterationand assonance, and end
rhymes. The song, Let Her Go, could stand on its own as poem and make sense. There is an
oxymoron and many uses of figurative language in the song Let Her Go. Passenger uses an
oxymoron throughout the song in the chorus again, which also includes the title of the song.

Genetic interference of Caenorhabditis Elegans within the process of Chemotaxis Abstract For
the majority of animals on earth, responding to chemical stimuli could mean the difference
between life and death. Taste is an example of sensing chemical stimuli however, this response is
not entirely dependent on genes, as tasting something will not necessarily trigger a gene to
activate. Within a simpler organism however, such as Caenorhabditis Elegans, there is a
complex behavior that is mediated by three sensory neurons and transduce chemical stimuli to
move muscles that move an animal forward(attraction) or backwards(repulsion). By placing
these organisms on several plates which will inhibit genetic expression, and then testing
chemotaxis at a later point, it is possible to determine which genes are responsible for
chemotaxis. The global sample averages of the chemotaxis indexes of CEH 36 and CEH 27 are
somewhat inconclusive, with a mean of 0.5815 for CEH 36 and 0.6981 for CEH 27. Overall, the
results for CEH 27 are likely to show that there is a lack of genetic interference with chemotaxis

Concert Observation
I enjoyed a Dame Myra Hess Concert at the Chicago Cultural Center, held in the Preston Bradley
Hall. It featured Brannon Cho and Victor Asuncion as the performers on November 16th in the
afternoon. It showed a variety of compositions that kept me mesmerized throughout the show. The
instruments they played were the cello and the piano. I chose this concertbecause it was convenient,
location wise and it fitted well into my schedule. The only other concert I can relate it to was at
church, it was a visit by a choir from Moody Church.

The Treaty of Fort Laramie of April 29, 1868 described the boundaries of the reservation which

JUDGEMENT FRAMEWORK
Poverty is a complex issue that has always been around, but has been a growing concern over
time. Holding a debate on the issue of poverty, is one that can easily go awry due to it s
complexity and emotional aspects. In order to evaluate the debate, both teams need to fully
understand the proposal and clearly articulate their stance.
The debate teams need to be able to clearly explain their position, refute the opponent s argument,
provide solutions, provide a stimulating counter examination, and effectively answer questions
from the judges. Other logistical aspects of the debate that will be judged on is the ability to
efficiently use time and allocate it between team members, as well as refraining from interrupting
other debates and keeping an appropriate volume and demeanor.
There are various general questions that will be utilized in my evaluation of the debate. Did the
teams address what poverty is, how people become poor and remain poor, explain why it s the
individual or society s fault, why we haven t been able to dramatically keep poverty low, why
current efforts are not working, and what new solutions should be utilized?

The Canadian Justice System And Capital Punishment
On December 11th, 1962 an important event occurred, an event that would change the
Canadian justice system in its views on capital punishment. Two men, Arthur Lucas, and Ronald
Turpin was to be executed in Canada for committing crimes. Both had been accused of committing
murder, Lucas for killing an officer while fleeing a robbery and Turpin for murdering an
undercover narcotics officer. Both were hanged back to back at midnight and buried side by side
with no marking on their graves. Lucas and Turpin were the last to be executed under capital
punishment and since then Canada has stopped this practice. Capital punishment has become the
subject of debate in Canada of whether it should be reintroduced. But the question is, does Canada
really need to re introduce capital punishment? Canada as a country is doing perfectly fine with its
justice system and the need for capital punishment seems unnecessary.
Capital punishment is expensive to maintain and raises the question of human rights and morals as
well as to injustice to those who are innocent who might be wrongfully executed.
