Sample Mba Admission Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Sample MBA Admission Essay" is no easy feat. It demands a
comprehensive understanding of oneself, a profound knowledge of the specific MBA program,
and an ability to articulate personal and professional goals with clarity and conviction. The
challenge lies not just in narrating past experiences or achievements but in seamlessly weaving
them into a coherent narrative that convincingly demonstrates why the chosen MBA program is
the next logical step in the candidate's career.
The difficulty intensifies as one needs to strike a delicate balance between showcasing one's
unique qualities and adhering to the expected norms of an MBA admission essay. This entails a
meticulous process of introspection, research, and strategic storytelling. Each word carries
weight, and every sentence must contribute to building a compelling case for admission.
Moreover, the essay must exude authenticity to resonate with the admissions committee. It's not
merely about presenting an impressive façade but about revealing the genuine motivations and
aspirations that drive the applicant. This requires a deep dive into personal and professional
experiences, extracting meaningful lessons, and presenting them in a way that aligns seamlessly
with the values of the MBA program.
The challenge also lies in avoiding clichГ©s and generic statements that could dilute the
uniqueness of the essay. Crafting an essay that stands out in a sea of applications requires a keen
awareness of one's own narrative and a thoughtful approach to presenting it.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Sample MBA Admission Essay" demands a combination of
self-awareness, research, storytelling skills, and an understanding of the specific program's

Romeo And Juliet And Tybalt s Death
If you stabbed someone in the chest and the person dies doesn t that mean you
killed said person. One Hundred percent of deaths caused by a other person is
called murder. Romeo is the cause of Tybalt s death because Romeo stabbed him,
Romeo did not walk away, and Romeo acted out of pure anger and revenge. One
example that Romeo is the cause of Tybalts death because he stabbed him. Tybalt
straight took a blade to the chest from Romeo. After the death of MercutioRomeo got
into a fight with Tybalt and ended up stabbing him. They was first fighting with
swords but then they both ended up losing them in the fight so they started using
their hands. Tybalt was on the floor while Romeo got up and found a sword and

Sample Emails
Writing emails to employees Dear colleagues, It has recently been brought to my
attention that more and more of us come to use the work email address to send
personal messages to email addresses outside the company. I would now like to
take some time to address this issue, which seems to be generating a negative
impact on the productivity of the firm, and therefore the wellbeing of all of us,
who depended on the company to do well. The IT department continually monitors
the usage of the internet and emails within the firm and has found that an average
office worker in the firm sends at least two or three message from their work
address to addresses other than those which are related to the firm (excluding
customers, business partners and so on). We would like to remind you that the
company does not disclose your personal information, but has the right to read the
information send from the company emails. In other words, the usage of the work
email for personal purposes does not stimulate the privacy of the personal issues.
Then, at a strict corporate level, the usage of the work email for personal purposes
has also been assessed by the members in the Human Resource Department. They
found that the attention span of people engaging in personal activity during work
hours is decreased. In other words, the usage of the work email to send personal
messages during work hours negatively impacts the focus and performance of the
employees. In order to protect both

There are a lot of tricks to maneuver when playing this game. Sometimes if a player
has a losing hand, he or she can still win by bluffing the other player. Bluffing is a
bet made by a player in an attempt to try and make other players fold their cards.
Bluffing can be a risky move because you are betting with no hand, and if a player
has good cards and call your bet, you might lose. Therefore, doing a bluff bet is all
about the right timing. An added skill needed to bluff is being able to read players
body movements and their betting patterns. These are important skills to have in
order to know if the other player has a strong or weak
Analysis Of The Novel Adirondack Sundown

24 October 2017 Adirondack Sundown Essay
Assignment
The Adirondack Park is a significant location in the novel Adirondack Sundown.
Graham Scott and Sarah Waters were picnicking one day at Rockwood State Forest
when Graham suddenly had to go back to work, Sarah stayed behind to take pictures
of the scenery and then, she was abducted. Many places in the Adirondacks are very
significant to the story. Some places in the Adirondack Parkthat are in the novel are
Kane Mountain, Rockwood State Forest and Old Forge.
South of the Adirondack Park is where Kane Mountain is located. Kane Mountain
was formed by glaciers during the ice age. The mountain is between several lakes,
including Pine Lake and Canada Lake. The hike to the top of Kane Mountain is
moderate in difficulty. There are many trails that exist. The most commonly used trail
is the East trail departing from Green Lake Road.
Kane Mountain plays a significant role in the novel because a character named Kane
Johnson, who abducted Sarah, and his sister Caroga lived here. The Kane Mountain
Observation Station played a huge role in the novel also.
The Kane Mountain Fire Observation Station is a historic location on Kane
Mountain at Caroga Lake in Fulton County, New York. The station includes a 60
foot tall, steel frame lookout tower erected in 1925, an observer s cabin built about
1960, and foot trail. The tower and trail are contributing resources. The tower is a
prefabricated structure built by the Aermotor Corporation and provided a front line
of defense in preserving the Adirondack Forest Preserve from the hazards of forest
fires. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.
The 858 acre Rockwood State Forest is located in Fulton County just south of the
Adirondack Blue Line between NY 29, NY 10A and NY 10. There are nearly five
miles of old roads that are used for cross country skiing in the winter as well as
hiking the rest of the year. The main feature of this state forest is the scenic
Rockwood Lake, located off the North Loop Road Trail. The state land is used for
water quality protection, recreation, wildlife habitat and timber production. Some
characteristics of Rockwood would include, Hiking,
Queen Elizabeth And Mary Relationship
Queen Mary I, the monarch of England and Ireland since 1553, dies and is succeeded
by her 25 year old half sister, Elizabeth.
The two half sisters, both daughters of King Henry VIII, had a stormy relationship
during Mary s five year reign. Mary, who was brought up as a Catholic, enacted pro
Catholic legislation and made efforts to restore the pope to supremacy in England. A
Protestant rebellion ensued, and Queen Mary imprisoned Elizabeth, a Protestant, in
the Tower of London on suspicion of complicity. After Mary s death, Elizabeth
survived several Catholic plots against her; though her ascension was greeted with
approval by most of England s lords, who were largely Protestant and hoped for
greater religious tolerance under a Protestant queen.
The President Has Never Said The World Black Analysis
The universal concept of success is also challenged in the poem The President Has
Never Said the World Black by evaluating the president s unreasonableness to his
fellow citizens and by unfolding his neglect of his responsibilities despite being the
leader. The speaker does not hesitate to utilize the stylistic texture of particularity,
where she directly refers to the former president, Barack Obama. Furthermore, the
speaker practices an engaged mood and tone to convey awareness about the
president s actions and the current events. She mentions that the president is
choosing to disregard his own people s voice and favor other priorities instead of
taking actions for the minorities. For example, To the extent that one begins/ to
wonder if he is broken.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, the poem has a form of couplets and few indented spaces to indicate a
relationship between the stanzas and to mimic the former president s speech and
behaviors. To illustrate, The president be like/ we lost a young boy today. // The
pursuit of happiness/ is guaranteed for all fellow Americans. (5). This structure may
be signifying a sarcasm that although the president mentions an issue, certain
minority groups are still left out and only some specific Americans are granted the
support. In addition, What kind of bodies are movable/ and feasts. What color are
visions. //When he opens his mouth/ a chameleon is inside, starving. (5). The device
being used is a metaphor that denotes the president choosing to assimilate with others
while starving his own voice. The quotations also assert that people of color have
fewer chances of being understood and granted an opportunity that will benefit them
towards their future and success. Likewise, the title of the poem implies a powerful
message that states that he never considered Black
Martin Luther King s Speech On Agape Love
Martin Luther King tells us in his work, Agape Love, that ...when you come to love
on this level you begin to love men not because they are likable, not because they do
things that attract us, but because God loves them and here we love the person who
does the evil deed while hating the deed that the person does (32). Martin Luther
King lived during a time of great turmoil in the United States. He lived during a time
where a very large group of segregationists main goal was to keep their synthetic
sense of superiority over the African Americanrace. Of course, Martin Luther King
did not stand for this contorted representation of his people and he decided to do
something about it. Martin Luther King grew up in a family of pastors and he too
became a pastor. I mention this to give background to King s use of christianity s
teachings throughout his various speeches. Being a religious man, King abstained
from violence wherever possible, which was one of his main strategies against
violent segregationists because he believed that no one, no matter how violent
they are, can keep attacking a group of people who refuse to fight back and at some
point have to realize that African Americans aren t a threat to them. King s goal in
his speeches is to gain equality for every man, woman, and child no matter the color
of their skin. He knew that he had to bring every race together in order to achieve
true equality, and he could not do so by using violence as a means to an end.

Leading Employees Of Different Cultural Backgrounds
Leading Employees of different cultural backgrounds in U.A.E
Introduction
U.A.E is one of the best places for job seekers and a city where the work force is
made up of people all around the globe, managing such a diverse work force is a
challenge. An organization is doomed if the management fails to lead, motivate and
inspire their diverse workforce.
One aspect of management specifies the behavior, attitude and the level of motivation
in any given situation this could be even more problematic in multicultural work
environments. There could be many different factors as well as conditions that could
influence the management s style which includes personal traits of the leader,
characteristics of work culture that is prevalent in that given organization.
Organization s culture is nothing but the norm in which how the leadership decides to
promote its employees and how will be able to divert more attention from employees
as followers. Researches state that the leader has to create and manage the
organizational behavior, it is considered as the unique talent of the leaders that they
are able to understand and mange the work culture. One of the biggest achievements
of any leadership is to eliminate the work culture that can destroy the functioning of
the firm.
For this leadership has to select and implement a specific leadership style, so they can
monitor and influence the work culture within the given organization. This is because
they need to deal with dynamic situations so

of the fact that that shifted encounter is possibly a rich wellspring of lessons,

Lawson s Use Of Figurative Language
Lawson figuratively denotes that the Australian landscape is harsh and monotonous.
This concept is distinctively created through the descriptions of the setting
established throughout In a Dry Season, which recounts the persona s experiences of
events, people, and the Australian landscape during a train ride to Bourke in the
summer of 1892. This is clearly evident as Lawson captures the essences of the
Australian bush culture and introduces his reader to the eccentric nature of its
inhabitants. A unique nature that Lawson illustrates in his story of the Australian
bush culture is the Australian outback. The use of figurative language in draw a wire

Francie and all who know Sissy view Sissy as a mother figure, despite her
promiscuous reputation. Francie believes that Sissy is loose with men because of
her determination to give as much as she can to anyone. Francie adores Sissy, and
Sissy s maternal actions are the inspiration to Francie s fantasies about starting a

checks on the children s well being, just as a mother would watch over her own
children. If someone mistreats one of the children, such as Francie s elementary

Importance Of Physical Exercise
Everyone needs physical exercise and should be allowed to participate in the
activities they want to. Despite physical limitations, age, skill, gender, etc.,
everyone should have the chance to be included in their pick of physical activities.
Just because people may be different in these things doesn t mean they should be left
out. Sometimes people with disabilities are left out of some sport and other physical
activities because of their limitations. This is wrong because everyone needs
exercise, wants to have fun, and it can unite people. These people needphysical
exercisejust like everyone else and sometimes even more so their muscles don t
atrophy. These activities can are also fun and everyone wants to be a part of that fun
and have a good time. There are now sports and other physical activities that have
been adapted so that people with disabilities can also enjoy them. For example,
wheelchairbasketball was made for people in wheelchairs to enjoy basketball also.
This sport is cool because even people who are not usually in wheelchairs can still
be in one just for the game and play the game with people who really need a
wheelchair. In fact, sometimes people who don t need a wheelchair will join teams
in wheelchair basketball and it unites the players even though they have differences
in physical abilities. Able bodied players become part of a team, a community, with
the disabled players. It s a prime example of reverse integration ,which some people

The Performance Of Premier League Football Teams
Is there any correlation between changing managers and football clubs results?
Managers often find themselves being sacked and replaced, sometimes only
lasting a matter of days before having to move on. In this essay I will be
investigating the performance of Premier League football teams, both with a
change of manager and without, to see if there is evidence of a correlation
between the changing managers and the results of football clubs. A look at the data
from the past three seasons shows that Manchester City was consistently ranked in
the top three on the league table. In earlier years though, they were not as
successful. For example, in 2009, they came 10th. Upon changing manager, in 2010
they climbed 5 places, making it to 2nd by 2013. Finally, when Manuel Pellegrini
took over for the 2013/2014, they made it to 1st place. For this team, it can be
assumed that a change in manager led to better results. Another strong team
according to data is Chelsea . In 2013, when Rafael Benitez was manager, they
finished in 3rd place. They then changed manager, to JosГ© Mourinho, finishing 2nd
in 2014, and 1st in 2015. These teams show evidence that a change in manager was
beneficial, as they showed improvement when this occurred. Southampton also
appears to prove correlation between a change in management and the team s
outcomes. In 2012, with Nigel Adkins, they placed 14th at the end of the season.
When Mauricio Pochettino came into control in 2013, they jumped up to 8th in
Bolsheviks Siezing power in Petrograd in 1917
Bolsheviks Siezing power in Petrograd in 1917
There are a number of factors that led to the Bolsheviks being able to seize power in
Petrograd. There wasn t one incident that can be attributed to causing the revolution
by it s self. To understand how the revolution was able to take place we must
understand the structure of Russia s society from the late 1800 s until when the
revolutions took place in 1917.
Before the year 1917 Russia had been an autocracy, this means that one man alone
had complete power over the whole of Russia. This man was known as the Tsar.

In this thesis he stated that he wanted all of the land and wealth in Russia to be re
distributed evenly amongst all of the people. He states that a highly organised party
will be needed to bring about the revolutions that will achieve a socialist state. In
short Lenin wanted a radical shake up in Russia with a communist system in place,
resulting in a socialist state where everyone is equal and has equal land. Again this is
quite a major factor in contributing to the revolution because of the effect that it has
on the party.
These radical ideas that Lenin has caused a split in the Russian Social Democratic
party. In 1903 it split into the Bolsheviks and the Mensheviks, the Bolsheviks being
led by Lenin and the Mensheviks being led by Martov. Stalin went with the
Bolsheviks and Trotsky went with the Mensheviks. The Bolshevik party that was
formed was the main contributor to the revolution in 1917 as they were the ones that
would eventually overthrow the provisional government. However that revolution
would never have been able to take place without the social and political factors in
Russia at the time, as well as the contribution of the First World War.
In the year 1905 the Tsar faced two very tough tests in order to remain in control of
Russia. First of all there was an attempted revolution by the

Surfing Research Paper
The History and Culture of Surfing
Surfing is an ancient art and was first known as he e nalu , which translates to wave
sliding. However, surfing wasn t simply a fun sport or a task that these ancient people
completed. Instead, it was something that attached them to the sea and they used it to
reflect their emotions.
During ancient times, surfers would often rely on priests, who were known as
Kahunas, for prayers for good waves. Since proper waves are important when looking
for a good day of surf, this was a crucial part of the process. Kahunas would dance
and cite ritual chants, all in the hopes of pleasing the sea. It was the belief that this
process would cause the sea to provide proper waves for the people to surf.

It is surprising to see how far the sport has come from its humble beginnings in
Hawaii. Advertising for the sport made it even more popular and was first
completed by Dale Velzy. Being the very first sponsor of surfing, he worked to make
the sport more visible to everyone.
It wasn t long after Velzy s endorsement that movies began to be made. The first surf
movie was Gidget and The Endless Summer quickly followed. These movies created
a surf culture that quickly swept the United States and the entire world. With this
culture fashion, music and even a special language was created.
Eventually boards were shortened from 10 feet to 6 feet, which created a new form of
surfing culture, referred to as the short board revolution . With this change in the
culture, surfing went from somewhat of an underground interest to a mainstream,
commercialized sensation.
Surfing is still a beautiful and highly respected art. One of the best things about all
these advancements is that people everywhere can now enjoy it and develop skills

The Cold War During World War II
The Cold War was a major event in the U.S. and Soviet Union s history. The main
reason that these two countries entered into the Cold War after World War II was
power. The USSR and United States had two very different perspectives on power
coming out of World War II. This disagreement ultimately caused the Cold War
.
Russia s perspective after World War II was influenced by Joseph Stalin. Stalin, the
leader of the USSR at the time, was a merciless dictator. His main concern was
maintaining power and assuring the Soviet Union s influence worldwide. During
WWII, the Soviet Union lost more than just lives. In addition to the deaths of 20
million citizens, they lost a large amount of their agricultural and industrial resources.
Stalin wanted those who were responsible for this mass destruction to pay and rebuild
the Soviet economy.
The United States had a very different perspective than the Soviet Union. During
WWII, the U.S. experienced far less casualties than the USSR at only 400,000
deaths. It also managed to avoid gunfire on the U.S. mainland. These factors
influenced the U.S. perspective after the war. Harry S. Truman was a major
influence on the U.S. perspective after World War II as well. He came into the office
with very little experience internationally and believed that the U.S. needed to have
overseas opportunities in order to have a flourishing economy. To ensure this
economic prosperity, the United States had to work well with countries that had few

Descartes s Argument On The Existence Of God
In A Discourse on the Method, Descartes attempted to prove the existence of God in a
priori manner. He did not trust his own senses when trying to prove the existence of
God and therefore he relied on the ontological argument. By making the same
assumption made by Anselm, which was that an ontological argument assumes that
existenceis a predicate of God, Descartes is able to conclude that God exists is true
by definition because the subject God , who already contains all perfections,
already contains the predicate exists, which is a perfection. Although this may be
perceived as a strong claim to believers, many such as Gaunilo would have
disagreed. Descartes postulates his argument in the fourth part of his Discourse in
order to try and prove the existence of God. One must discuss why one feels
Descartes attempted to do so and exactly how convincing his claim is. However,
before one can understand his claim, it is important to grasp an idea of the
background that Descartes was writing from when he wrote the Discourse and the
meaning of proof.
Descartes was a physico mathematician who dedicated a lot of his time to science.
He realised that all truths tend to link to one another and therefore combining a
fundamental truth with logic, would for him, lead to science. As a devoted Catholic,
Descartes claimed that one of the main purposes of the Mediations was to defend
Christian faith. In terms of proof, proof is evidence or an argument that establishes or
helps to

in terms of decision to incision interval. They agreed to collate a prospective
baseline, which was meant to be tracked daily.
Prior to this improvement idea, the time a decision to perform an emergency
caesarean section was not routinely documented in the patient s folder; however, time
of skin incision could be found in the theater notes written by the anesthetics. As a
result, retrospective baseline data could not be collected. In order to improve

Compare And Contrast Augustine And Worldview
What a man hopes for is the central tenant to his worldview. That worldview is not
only the lens through which one views the world, but the expression through
which the world shapes how one views the world. In a way, worldview colors what
we see in the world, all the while those same things are shaping that very same
worldview into something new and different. Ultimately, where our hope lies
always remains central to worldview. This is especially true in our view of the
physical dimension. How one views the material world and human bodies in
relation to human souls and the afterlife is fundamental to one s worldview. Plato,
the Late Classical Greek philosopher, and Saint Augustine, the Catholic Bishop of
the North African city of Hippo, both made their views on the material world and
human bodies clear in their writings and dialogues. While Plato s hope rested in an
ethereal bodiless existence, Augustine hoped in the redemption and reconciliation
of the body through Christ. Plato made the source of his hope abundantly clear in
his dialogue, Phaedo, There is good hope that on arriving where I am going, if
anywhere, I shall acquire what has been our chief preoccupation in our past life
(Phaedo, 67b c). Plato s ultimate hope and desire was to attain real wisdom. He had
a true conundrum, however: he believed that the physical world was by very nature
evil. Not only that, but he believed the physical dimension to which our bodies bind
us was altogether false. In fact, he
Water Leaks In Residential Homes
Having water leaks can be a constant hazard for residential homes. It does not have
to be a big leak because a small leak can lead to a mold problem that can be harmful
and cause significant damage. Leak detection can be a long, expensive process.
Some leaks do produce water damage that is visible on floor or drywall but others
are only noticeable when the homeowner gets a higher than usual water bill.
When checking for water leaks you should first check the areas where the water
pipes run through the floors and walls for water damage signs and then examine the
water fixtures themselves where the fixtures may feel wet or have some water
collected there. Check to see if any of the faucets are dripping, which can mean you

One place that you may have water leaking is your toilet. Each time you flush the
toilet you think it will automatically stop when the tank is full but in some
instances, it quietly continues to run slowly into the toilet. To see if this is the
problem you can stand there until it fills and see if you see a slow stream of water
going down the inside of the toilet bowl. If you see that you should replace the
fixtures in the toilet reservoir. You can check with a plumbingstore and they can help
you with what you need to replace. You could also place a little food coloring into
the reservoir tank and check in thirty minutes to see if there is any dye in the toilet
bowl. If there is, this indicates a leaking flapper that will need to be replaced.
If you are not able to find the leak, you can call plumbing companies and have a
plumber that specializes in leak detection. They have professional equipment that
can help to find any leaks under the floors or in the walls where you cannot see
them without tearing out the floors or walls. Some of the leaks are a simple fix
that you can do yourself while others may be expensive and require a plumber to
fix the leak. If there is a water leak detection it needs to be fixed immediately before

Essay On My Life Experience
Each day we all experience things that are extraordinary and sometimes
unforgettable. Yet it s how we let those experiences impact us individually that
makes us each unique. An experience in my life that changed how I acted, thought,
and felt was the first time I volunteered at my church during their summer scamp
sessions. The scamp sessions aimed to make the lessons correlate to things the
kids would do during summer camps. Serving at one of these session allowed the
year round volunteers to continue serving if they wanted, but also have the ability
to take a vacation and enjoy the church s service. Although life offers a multitude
of life changing experiences, serving at Mecklenburg Community Church for the
first time was greatest experience because I gained connections in my community,
learned strong leadership skills and gained a desire to serve others first. It all
began when I attended my first scamp session and I had several opportunities for
jobs outside of the church over the summer and translating into the school year.
The first time I served at Meck I was able to meet and be introduced to three
families at the church who later reached out to me for weekly opportunities to work
with their kids. In seeing the kids both in and outside of church over the summer
scamps I gained more insight of their lives and personalities. One specific family that
I met the first time I volunteered was the Harris family. I made a close bond with

Aristotle s Definition Of Honor
There are several definitions of the word honor. If one were to look up the
textbook definition it would most likely be along the lines of respect that is given
to someone who is admired, good reputation, or high moral standards of behavior.
However if one were to ask me of what my definition of honor was well my answer
would be slightly different. Thinking about it now, my answer would probably be to
have the traits of being honest while upholding integrity even when nobody s
watching. And that s surprisingly difficult, even for the most saintly person. So then
is a scientist and theorist whose fame is unbound by time any better? Really? (

The Effects of Burning Carbon Dioxide Essay
The Effects of Burning Carbon Dioxide
The main waste product of fuel we burn is carbon dioxide, which is thought to
have been the main factor in the gradual rise of global temperatures of the last
hundred years. The rise is called Global Warming . The mechanism used to explain
the rise in temperature is the greenhouse effect. Infrared radiation is trapped by
atmospheric gases. Sunlight easily passes these gases on it way into the earth s
atmosphere but on its way out the gases reflect the radiation back towards earth.
Therefore as these gases increases the amount of radiation kept in the atmosphere is
increased. Caron dioxide is one of the main green houses gases. Carbon dioxide is a

He suggests that rather than cutting carbon dioxide emissions, it would be more cost
effective to reduce the amount of sunlight entering the atmosphere by scattering the
sun s rays. Fine metallic nets deployed in the stratosphere should do the trick
according to Mr. Teller. This would help slow or even stop global warming.
Carbon Monoxide:
Carbon monoxide forms during incomplete combustion of hydrocarbons. It is
extremely hazardous as things such as gas central heating boilers which are badly
maintained can leak the gas causing carbon monoxide poisoning which would result
in death. Carbon monoxide reacts irreversibly with haemoglobin. In red blood cells
haemoglobin normally reacts with oxygen to form oxyhaemoglobin, which is then
transported from our lungs to all our body cells. When carbon monoxide is breathed
in it combines with haemoglobin to form carboxyhaemoglobin where the oxygen is
not released from the haemoglobin therefore causing a lack of oxygen which can
result in death.
The solutions to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning are to give the odorless gas a
distinct smell so that people can smell when there are gas leaks in their appliances.
Another solution is to install carbon monoxide detectors which act in the same way
as fire alarms and give off a signal when they detect carbon monoxide. There are other
precautions which can be taken such as maintaining your

Prison Industrial Complex In Prison
Most of us probably don t give jail much thought but with a rapid rise in the prison
population, we probably should.
PIC or Prison Industrial Complex is the term used to reflect the rising prison
population in the US and other countries. Yes, even here in Canada.
It s interesting to note that the US has more people behind bars than China. A
country with 5 times the population yet America is considered the land of the free .
The majority of people in jail are Black or Hispanic. Also interesting to note: US
federal law cracks the whip down on the possession of rock cocaine (crack). Less

The disadvantages of Insourcing Securities:
1.The cost of personnel requirements.
The company must takes responsibility for sick leave, annual leave, casual leave,

2.Absenteeism problem.
A company might face the problems of absenteeism among Security Officers because

3.Controlling disciplinary problems
Controlling discipline can be very time consuming, can result in substantial costs in
man hours for record keeping and hearing, and can be a burden to management.
Partisan Media Analysis
The article begins by explaining the main purpose for the research inquiry. If this
recent election has proven anything, it is that there is vast wealth of election
coverage. Citizens can now access political information, and news coverage from
almost anywhere through a variety of mediums. This increased access has opened a
new dimension. Partisan media effects have been researched in the past. However,
this article points out that there is a lack of inquiry on the timing of partisan media
influence during the electioncycle.

These two referenced influences set the stage for the following research designs.
The two surveys utilized data from the National Annenberg Election Study. The data
was retrieved using Internet and telephone collection methods. An advantage to this
method was the utilization of two pools of sampling. The pools were each
collected from the Internet, and one telephone. Also, the author used already
available data. This significantly reduced the time and financial strain that a survey
could take up. The sample was collected through random digit dialing and
availability to the Internet. This adds to the reliability of the results. Traditional
phone surveys use a set list of phone numbers. This would exclude those who have
private or unlisted numbers. This problem is avoided with random digit dialing. The
surveys were conducted during four different waves. The waves were from winter,
spring, summer, and fall waves. The winter wave resulted in 19,190 respondents.
The spring wave resulted in 17, 747 interviews. The summer wave included 20,052
interviews. The fall wave resulted in 19,241 respondents. To be

Silver Nitrate Lab
Our theoretical yield of Silver is 0.370 g, and our actual yield is 0.351 g. To begin
with, I was amazed of the process of making silver from a little piece of metal and
silver nitrate solution even though it took 3 days to complete this lab. On the first
day, Michael mostly did all the measurements and testing, while Mai and I was
responsible for the calculations, including taking pictures and recording down the
data. Firstly, our group balanced out the chemical equation, which is very
important for the later steps of our procedure. The equation is
1Cu+2AgNO3Cu(NO3)2 +2Ag ( you can see how to balance it out in the procedure
and we are using Copper II for this lab). Moreover, we weighted the copper metal and
the scale showed that it was at 0.109g.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We got 0.583g as our theoretical yield of silver nitrate, but due to our clumsiness,
we scoped out about 0.593 g of silver nitrate. Compared the amount of silver nitrate

reactant and copper is our limiting reactant, which we will using it to find out our
theoretical yield of how much silver that we should have make. There is one thing
I wanted to mention that we use distilled water instead of tap water because in tap
water, it contain other compound such as mineral, or Calcium, etc. Therefore, we
do not want any of those to be reacted with our solution and silver, we want to
produce pure silver. Next step is we placed the copper metal inside the silver
nitrate solution, the color started to change into light aqua blue. After we decanted
the solution and dried the silver with the incubator, we weighted the silver and it
was at 0.351 g. Compared to our theoretical yield, we should have made 0.370 g of
silver, but instead we made 0.351 g of

Basically think of behaviour modification and how it relates to triggers, when we

This is because we either don t want to deal with how the negative stimulus makes

Massage Therapy Essay
Massage therapy has been used for thousands of years as a form of medical care, the
earliest time of use dates back to 2,700 BC from a Chinese book called The Yellow
Emperor s Classic of Internal Medicine . The Chinese used this form of treatment
for a person with full paralysis or an illness from fever and chills. History shows that
Greek and Roman doctors also used massagetherapy, as Julius Caesar had a disease
called neuralgia and used massages on a daily basis to treat his condition.
Hippocrates who was known as the Father of Western Medicinefelt that massage
therapy was effective, as it could loosen or bind a problematic joint. Massage
therapy is also found in the history of Indian Medicine as the Indians used and still use

Massage therapy can help with alleviating muscle tension, diminishing stress, and
bringing to mind feelings of calmness, along with helping chronic fatigue syndrome,
easing chronic constipation, and enhancing self image. It also manipulates the
activity of the musculoskeletal, circulatory, lymphatic, and nervous systems in the
body. Clinical studies have revealed that massage relieves chronic back pain more
effectively than other treatments and most times it is more cost effective than other
treatments ( University of Maryland Medical Center ). Mothers and newborns also
seem to gain from massage; for example, mothers that massage their infants may
feel less depressed and have a stronger emotional bond with their babies. Plus,
newborns who receive massage from their mothers tend to cry less, be more alert,
active, and sociable. Premature babies who are given massage therapy may gain
weight faster than preemies that are not given this type of therapy. Also, infants who
receive massage frequently tend to sleep better, be less gassy or colicky, have better
body awareness, and a more regular digestion. Studies have also shown that massage
may be a helpful treatment for young children and adolescents with a wide range of
health problems, including: Autism, Eczema, Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder,
Probation Is A Sentence That Is Given To Offenders Instead
Probation is a sentence that is given to offenders instead of jail. Probation comes in
different forms and many different conditions; therefore, if you were unable to meet
those conditions you may be sent to jail. Probation is mostly used for first time
offenders, or for those charged with minor crimes. When given probation you must
meet with an assigned probation officer on a regular basis.
Probation dates back to English common law. The first probation officer was
recognized by the Supreme Court in 1841. Before parole and probation punishments
were very harsh, and often lead to death. Over time we have developed these two
systems to punish individuals, but at the same time help them learn how to live in the
current society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the divisions working together they ve made a huge difference in fixing what
was once a broken system.
John Augustus was the father of probation. His idea was to change the behavior of
offenders. He believed that if offenders get a second chance, they should have to
learn new behaviors; however, that would require help trough probation officers.
Parole given to an individual when are eligible to parole. This happens after the
prisoner receives a minimum or maximum sentence; however, they become eligible
with the decision of the parole board. The board decides whether or not to put
them on parole after a consideration hearing. Just like probation, this is a program
that focuses on the rehabilitation of offenders. Parole was first introduced in the
United States by Brockway Zebulon in 1876 as a way to reduce overcrowding in
jails. He also saw this as way to rehabilitate offenders. He believed this was the best
way to have offenders change their behavior for the better. This would give an
opportunity for offenders to get out of jail, and be rehabilitated. The parole board
decides when the parole period will happen. If the offender violates their parole they
will be sent back in jail for the rest of their sentence. The cost for probation is a lot
larger than for parole. For probation the average year cost is about $29,000 a year.
That comes out to be roughly $79 a day. While, for

The Guns Of August, By Barbara W. Tuchman
Although many common citizens have often had several preconceived ideas behind
the causes of the first and second world war, historians believe in one main cause of
the first world war, also called the Great War, and that is the assassination of the
archduke of Austria named Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo. Several novels have been
written regarding this Great War but one book that sparks the attention of the public
some years after this war occurred is entitled The Guns of August. Its title describes
the insurmountable events regarding the first month of the first World War.
The Guns of August was written by Barbara W. Tuchman and was published in
1962 , forty four years after the end of the Great War. This book elaborates on the
events of World War Iin a manner where the author emphasizes rather more on the
causes of the war in contrast to the events following the first world war. Tuchman
begins the novel with a detailed personal view of the death of the King of the
United Kingdom at the time, King Edward VII. Concerning the people present in the
novel, several faces are described by Tuchman such as great nobles and great kings
that attended this funeral. Although all nobles and kings mourned the death of such
great king, the King of Germany himself was joyous for the fact that he would finally
show the power of Germany towards the modern world that they knew. Throughout
the novel, the author uses imagery several times in order to portray the views of
someone that was in the
A Haunting Past in Faulkner s A Rose of Emily Essay
A Haunting Past In William Faulkner s short story A Rose for Emily Miss Emily
Grierson holds on to the past with a grip of death. Miss Emily seems to reside in her
own world, untarnished by the present time around her, maintaining her homestead as
it was when her father was alive. Miss Emily s father, the manservant, the
townspeople, and even the house she lives in, shows that she remains stuck in the
past incapable and perhaps reluctant to face the present. At the beginning of the story,
the reader learns that Miss Emily is portrayed as a fallen monument, ... because she
has shown herself susceptible to death (and decay) after all (West 264). The house
can also be perceived as a fallen monument (Faulkner 81) as the narrator... Show

He is seen by the townspeople carrying things in from the market, working around the
house now and again, and the only person to have contact with Miss Emily during
this time. When the Board of Aldermen visited Miss Emily about the taxes she
refused to pay, they were admitted by the old Negro into a dim hall from which a
stairway mounted into still more shadow. It smelled of dust and disuse a close,
dank smell. When the Negro opened the blinds of one window, they could see that
the leather was cracked, and when they sat down, a faint dust rose sluggishly about
their thighs, spinning with slow motes in the single sun ray. On a tarnished gilt easel
before the fireplace stood a crayon portrait of Miss Emily s father.(Faulkner 82)
Miss Emily just stood at the door listening quietly until the spokesman came to a
stumbling halt.
Then they could hear the invisible watch ticking at the end of the gold chain
(Faulkner 82). The
watch is very symbolic given that Miss Emily does not want to move on with the
times, but if the
reader will look at the idiom of having something or someone in one s pocket, that is,
under
one s personal control (Schwab 215) then one might come to the realization that Miss
Emily is even trying to control time. The watch s placement in her pocket, its
unusually loud ticking, and the chain to which it is attached illustrate both her
attempts to control the passage
The Ethical Dilemma Of `` Enemy At The Gates
Preface:
Do you remember movie Enemy at the gates ? The opening scene, where boats filled
with Soviet soldiers crossing the Volga, and being attacked by German aviation?
Bodies riddled with bullets... some of the soldiers panicking and jumping overboard...
Political officer screaming something and shooting at those who jumped. Later it
shows soldiers going into suicide attacks with barrier troops behind them. Those
troops are ordered to shoot any soldier that leaves battlefield without an order. Is it
ethical to order to shoot your own troops without a court? Or are we facing an ethical
dilemma of uncertainty?
Today I want to talk about ethical side of making difficult decisions. I want to talk
about most controversial Stalin s order in WW2, infamous order #227, also known
as: Not a step back! I will prove that despite all controversy around this decision,
during that period Stalin was an ethical leader. I want to talk how other people fall
into ethical dilemma of uncertainty when they judge him. Also, about how making
sure that I am making ethical decision affects me and how I avoid ethical dilemma of
uncertainty.
MP1:
On July 28 1942 Stalin issued Order #227. It was not in the newspapers and it was
not released to the general public. But it was read to every soldier and officer in the
Red Army. The order began by admitting losses of the territory and lives. It said that
the military was failing in its duty to protect its country. To quote the order: Units of

Medieval Noble Women
The life of a noble woman in High to Medieval France was largely determined by
her marriage. Most of the marriages of the noble women were arranged by their
parents for achieving profit maximization. For noble women, the familial path of
arranged marriage was far more common than the personal path of marrying by
personal choice. Marriagewas largely based on power and wealth and was mostly
arranged in an early age of a noble woman. Generally, a noble woman married in an
early age to a suitable man that her parents thought could bring wealth and power,
which an elite woman was always married to a country to make peace agreements
and alliances that could bring benefits and peace to the royal family. The life of a
noble woman was widely affected
China Buffet vs. Burger King
China Buffet vs. Burger King Dirty Dining
Today there are more and more reports of dirty dinning in so many fast food
restaurants. Any time a person decides to eat out in any type of fast food restaurant
they are taking a big risk, and stand a chance of getting sick from the food that they
eat.
All fast food restaurants have their own little dirty secrets. Some are clean whereas
some are filthy and should be shut down. There are several shows on television today
that show how nasty some restaurants can be, and why they have to shut them down.
There are two Restaurants that need to be shut down until they can get everything
straightened out. One is China Buffet in Cincinnati. The other is Burger King.

This can also result in the growth of bacteria. All restaurants are responsible for
their employees being taught the correct way to cook or prepare food. Their
employees should be certified in the safe serve classes. One reason that Chinese
restaurants are not certified in safe serve is because they do not take the courses
before or after they open their restaurants.
As far as Burger King is concerned they do not require their employees to be trained
or certified. They always hire young teenagers to work in their restaurants. Young
people do not care or think about cleanliness of the food or restaurant. They are only
concerned with making a paycheck and going home. When employees do not care
about their restaurant they tend to make mistakes that can cause customers to get
sick. There have been reports of children getting so sick that they almost died after
eating at Burger King.
China Buffet was closed down because of sewage backing up in the basement of the
restaurant, and for storing chemicals such as, roach spray, ant spray, and cleaning
chemicals, right next to the food. They also got in trouble for not having any soap or
bleach for cleaning and sanitizing the restaurant. The owners decided not to reopen
the restaurant because it would cost too much money to fix all of the problems that
were found during the inspection. It was cheaper for them to just open up another
restaurant. The difference between Chinese restaurants and Burger King
The Roles Of Medieval Women In The Middle Century
Middle Ages was a period of tremendous social, political, and economic change. It
was also a time of tremendous linguistic change for Middle English was born
through the marriage of Anglo Saxon language from the natives and Norman
French language from the Norman invaders. People were categorized into classes.
These classes were given specific roles to fulfill in their society. During the
medieval period, rural life was governed by a system called feudalism . Common
people were divided into serfs and peasants. Serfs were bound to the land and were
almost like slaves. While, peasants were poor farmers who cultivate owned or rented
lands. Both of these classes work for nobles for the rich gave them military

All women are dependent on their husbands for the financial support the family
needs. Medieval women were given narrow choices in their lives: to marry or to
take the veil and become a nun. Medieval women were categorized based on their
sexual activity: virgin, wife, or widow. They were also elevated to an ideal, an
image of perfection that cannot be attained, through the Chivalric Code. Women
were bound to maintain their purity, their virginity until marriage, not to engage in
any sexual activity. Women were confined to their houses to tend to their home
and children. For aristocratic women, they have servants to supervise. Men and
women of today are given equal opportunities and rights. Men are still the same as
before. While, women are being empowered by the society. They are allowed to
work and earn money for themselves. They are seen as people capable of making
decisions for and by themselves. They are not categorized according to their sexual
activity. They are not strictly confined to their houses to take care of their family for
the rest of their lives. But, some
Quabbin Reservoir History
The Quabbin reservoir is a manmade body of water that was created to supply the
greater area of boston with fresh water and has been for decades.
The Quabbin reservoir was created to supply boston with more water due to the
rising population of boston. In the 1930s four towns were relocated so that the
reservoir could be made becuase of the natural valley the towns sat in.
When construction began in 1927, the Swift River was redirected from its riverbed
and through a diversion tunnel. On August 14th, 1939 that tunnel was sealed with
rock. Over the next seven years the waters of the Quabbin Reservoir slowly rose
behind the newly completed Winsor Dam, an earth filled structure 2,640 feet long,
rising 170 feet above the riverbed, and the slightly smaller Goodnough Dike. The
water seeped into the old cellar holes, and gradually submerged the roads that had
linked the towns. It swallowed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The water is distributed throughout the metropolitan Boston area through 117 miles
of pipeline and aqueduct tunneled through bedrock 200 feet below the earth s
surface. Three Western Massachusetts communities are also supplied with Quabbin
water through the Chicopee Valley Aqueduct. The Massachusetts Water Resources
Authority, created in 1984, is responsible for the treatment and distribution of the
water, and the development of new water supplies. Rangers, foresters, a wildlife
biologist, a staff of engineers, skilled craftsmen and laborers all help to ensure the
purity of Quabbins water and watershed, and maintain and protect Quabbins very
special qualities. In order to flood the vast area of the Swift River Valley in the
1930s, Hundreds of homes, businesses, a state highway, a railroad line, and 34
cemeteries were also moved or dismantled. Over 6,000 graves were relocated from
the Valley to Quabbin Park Cemetery
Workers Compensation System
Workers compensation provides cash and medical benefits to workers who are
injured or become ill in the course of their employment and benefits to the
survivors of workers killed on the job. Benefits are provided without regard to fault
and are the exclusive remedy for workplace injuries, illnesses, and deaths. Nearly
all workers and employers in the United States are covered by workers
compensation and each state, with the exception of Texas, has a mandatory
workers compensation system. In 2105 more than 135 million workers accounting
for more than $7.1 trillion in wages, were covered by a state or federal workers
compensation system. When a covered worker is injured becomes sick or dies as a
result of his or her employment, that worker is entitled to full medical coverage for
the injury or illness, cash benefits to replace a portion of wages lost due to inability
to work, and benefits for surviving family members in case of death. Employers are

The federal government has only a limited role in the provision of workers
compensation because most workers are covered by state laws. Although every state
has a workers compensation system and in all but one state workers compensation or
an equivalent is mandatory, there is no federal mandate that states must have
workers compensation, no federal standards for state programs and no federal
oversight of state systems. Prior to the establishment of workers compensation laws
at the beginning of the 20th century, the civil courts were the only avenue for the
adjudication of disputes over responsibility for employment related injuries, illnesses,
and deaths, and the courts could order employers to provide compensation to injured
workers or the survivors of workers killed on the job if it was determined that the
employer was negligent. Under the common law doctrine of negligence, the
Essay about Italian and Northern European Renaissance
Italian and Northern European Renaissance
The Italian and Northern Europe Renaissances were both an important mark in
history by changing the ideals of life, thought, culture, and art of the people s of this
time. In this paper I will explain the motive for change in these cultures, including the
similarities and differences of the two cultures. The Italian and Northern European
Renaissance was the marking point for leaving behind the old ways and moving into
the more classical ideals and civilizations for Italy and Northern Europe. However,
Northern Europe developed their ideals more slowly then Italy did. For one thing,
the north held on to Gothic (or Middle Ages ) art and architecture with a tighter,
longer grip ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The classical aspects were used to humanize the Christian and secular buildings. The
High Renaissance in Italy, although short lived, was extremely important on the
influences of future Italian art. During the High Renaissance the main focus on
Florence, for the arts, shifted to Rome due to the power and wealth from the popes.
Because of the move from Florence to Rome, the two most important factors of this
time, Classicism and Christianity, were merged into one. Italian ideas were also
brought northward through trade and commerce into Europe, where they had a
tremendous amount of influence on the artistic traditions there as well (Benton amp;
DiYanni, 2008). Both the Italian and Northern European Renaissance had interest in
changing their ideals in individualism, humanism, and classicism, which has a large
impact on their cultures, and arts. Many of the literary works of this time expressed
the same interests between Italy and Northern Europe. Examples can be seen in the
writings of Petrarch (Italian) and Michel de Montaigne (Northern European). Both of
these writers expressed the importance and idealism of humanism. The literature
during this time was a wonderful looking glass into the similarities and differences of
Italy and Northern Europe. After looking at the Italian and Northern Europe
Renaissances, one can see the many similarities between the arts and cultures, but the
differences of these cultures are not

her shadow at a tribal dance, and I have seen her, pensive and inviolable, her
clothes clinging to her wet body, beside a tank in Benares .Yes this woman keeps
crossing my dreams causing in me a fearful disturbance, the full meaning of which
I have yet to understand. (p.93) This vague image is later concretized in the form
of Bilasia, the Bhil woman whom he finds an ideal combination of Otherness and
the Self. Bilasia s exotic Otherness is clearly seen in her untamed beauty , her
promiscuity and her obvious difference from the respectable wife, Meena. Yet, how
is Bilasia an ideal other for Billy Biswas, the upper class Hindu? Perhaps this may
be explained by the way tribals have generally been viewed as peripheral
communities within the dominant Hindu fold. So while recognizing the tribal
Otherness, the Hindu view also makes them accessible. Moreover, Bilasia has beauty
albeit an untamed one and she belongs to the Bhil community, which has traditionally
been seen as possessing many Rajput qualities, like valour, nobility etc. Incidentally,
one may compare the account of Billy s life with that of Verrier Elwin, an Englishman
who came to India as a Christian missionary in 1927. A few years later, varrier Elwin
voluntarily gave up his ministry and decided to devote himself to the tribal people of
India. He started living in the Chhattisgarh area, along with Shamrao Hivale. Though

Once More Of The Lake
Once More to the Lake is a short essay written by E.B. White for his column in the
New Yorker, One Man s Meat. Once More to the Lake is a story about a father who
is taking his son to his childhood vacation spot. On the trip, the father finds himself
inside the memories of his past. Throughout the trip, the father finds differences in
the lake from when he was a child. While much of E.B. White s essay is set in the
present, the author explores his own mortality as he looks both to the past and to the
future. Elwyn Brooks White was born on July 11, 1899, in Mount Vernon, New York,
and died in 1985. Throughout his lifetime, White had traveled to many places and
held several jobs ranging from reporter to army private. He became a multifaceted
writer but primarily wrote style manual, fiction, poetry, and children s literature.
Throughout his life, White was surrounded by many other talented writers including
Dorothy Parker, Robert Benchley, and Stephen Leacock. White wrote the well known
children s stories Stuart Littleand Charlotte s Web. Many of White s works were
accomplished with the help of his wife, former editor, Katharine Angell. Once
More to the Lake was published in 1941 along with many other works on which he
and Katharine had collaborated. The year 1941 was the onset of World War II in
America. Other countries had been at war for some time. In 1941, however, the war
became increasingly eminent for Americans. E.B. White did not slow down his

Sample Emails Writing emails to employees Dear colleagues, It has recently been brought to my attention that more and more of us come to use the work email address to send personal messages to email addresses outside the company. I would now like to take some time to address this issue, which seems to be generating a negative impact on the productivity of the firm, and therefore the wellbeing of all of us, who depended on the company to do well. The IT department continually monitors the usage of the internet and emails within the firm and has found that an average office worker in the firm sends at least two or three message from their work address to addresses other than those which are related to the firm (excluding customers, business partners and so on). Analysis Of The Novel Adirondack Sundown Alexis O Dell Mr. Mucilli/Mr. Simonds 24 October 2017 Adirondack Sundown Essay Assignment The Adirondack Park is a significant location in the novel Adirondack Sundown. Graham Scott and Sarah Waters were picnicking one day at Rockwood State Forest when Graham suddenly had to go back to work, Sarah stayed behind to take pictures of the scenery and then, she was abducted. Many places in the Adirondacks are very significant to the story. Some places in the Adirondack Parkthat are in the novel are Kane Mountain, Rockwood State Forest and Old Forge. South of the Adirondack Park is where Kane Mountain is located. Kane Mountain was formed by glaciers during the ice age. The mountain is between several lakes, including Pine Lake and Canada Lake. The hike to the top of Kane Mountain is moderate in difficulty. There are many trails that exist. The most commonly used trail is the East trail departing from Green Lake Road. Kane Mountain plays a significant role in the novel because a character named Kane Johnson, who abducted Sarah, and his sister Caroga lived here. The Kane Mountain Observation Station played a huge role in the novel also. The Kane Mountain Fire Observation Station is a historic location on Kane Mountain at Caroga Lake in Fulton County, New York. The station includes a 60 foot tall, steel frame lookout tower erected in 1925, an observer s cabin built about 1960, and foot trail. The tower and trail are contributing resources. The tower is a prefabricated structure built by the Aermotor Corporation and provided a front line of defense in preserving the Adirondack Forest Preserve from the hazards of forest fires. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001. • 7. Queen Elizabeth And Mary Relationship Queen Mary I, the monarch of England and Ireland since 1553, dies and is succeeded by her 25 year old half sister, Elizabeth. The two half sisters, both daughters of King Henry VIII, had a stormy relationship during Mary s five year reign. Mary, who was brought up as a Catholic, enacted pro Catholic legislation and made efforts to restore the pope to supremacy in England. A Protestant rebellion ensued, and Queen Mary imprisoned Elizabeth, a Protestant, in the Tower of London on suspicion of complicity. After Mary s death, Elizabeth survived several Catholic plots against her; though her ascension was greeted with approval by most of England s lords, who were largely Protestant and hoped for greater religious tolerance under a Protestant queen.
  • 8. The President Has Never Said The World Black Analysis The universal concept of success is also challenged in the poem The President Has Never Said the World Black by evaluating the president s unreasonableness to his fellow citizens and by unfolding his neglect of his responsibilities despite being the leader. The speaker does not hesitate to utilize the stylistic texture of particularity, where she directly refers to the former president, Barack Obama. Furthermore, the speaker practices an engaged mood and tone to convey awareness about the president s actions and the current events. She mentions that the president is choosing to disregard his own people s voice and favor other priorities instead of taking actions for the minorities. For example, To the extent that one begins/ to wonder if he is broken.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, the poem has a form of couplets and few indented spaces to indicate a relationship between the stanzas and to mimic the former president s speech and behaviors. To illustrate, The president be like/ we lost a young boy today. // The pursuit of happiness/ is guaranteed for all fellow Americans. (5). This structure may be signifying a sarcasm that although the president mentions an issue, certain minority groups are still left out and only some specific Americans are granted the support. In addition, What kind of bodies are movable/ and feasts. What color are visions. //When he opens his mouth/ a chameleon is inside, starving. (5). The device being used is a metaphor that denotes the president choosing to assimilate with others while starving his own voice. The quotations also assert that people of color have fewer chances of being understood and granted an opportunity that will benefit them towards their future and success. Likewise, the title of the poem implies a powerful message that states that he never considered Black
  • 9. Martin Luther King s Speech On Agape Love Martin Luther King tells us in his work, Agape Love, that ...when you come to love on this level you begin to love men not because they are likable, not because they do things that attract us, but because God loves them and here we love the person who does the evil deed while hating the deed that the person does (32). Martin Luther King lived during a time of great turmoil in the United States. He lived during a time where a very large group of segregationists main goal was to keep their synthetic sense of superiority over the African Americanrace. Of course, Martin Luther King did not stand for this contorted representation of his people and he decided to do something about it. Martin Luther King grew up in a family of pastors and he too became a pastor. I mention this to give background to King s use of christianity s teachings throughout his various speeches. Being a religious man, King abstained from violence wherever possible, which was one of his main strategies against violent segregationists because he believed that no one, no matter how violent they are, can keep attacking a group of people who refuse to fight back and at some point have to realize that African Americans aren t a threat to them. King s goal in his speeches is to gain equality for every man, woman, and child no matter the color of their skin. He knew that he had to bring every race together in order to achieve true equality, and he could not do so by using violence as a means to an end. Otherwise,

In fact, sometimes people who don t need a wheelchair will join teams in wheelchair basketball and it unites the players even though they have differences in physical abilities. Able bodied players become part of a team, a community, with the disabled players. It s a prime example of reverse integration ,which some people think
  • 21. The Performance Of Premier League Football Teams Is there any correlation between changing managers and football clubs results? Managers often find themselves being sacked and replaced, sometimes only lasting a matter of days before having to move on. In this essay I will be investigating the performance of Premier League football teams, both with a change of manager and without, to see if there is evidence of a correlation between the changing managers and the results of football clubs. A look at the data from the past three seasons shows that Manchester City was consistently ranked in the top three on the league table. In earlier years though, they were not as successful. For example, in 2009, they came 10th. Upon changing manager, in 2010 they climbed 5 places, making it to 2nd by 2013. Finally, when Manuel Pellegrini took over for the 2013/2014, they made it to 1st place. For this team, it can be assumed that a change in manager led to better results. Another strong team according to data is Chelsea . In 2013, when Rafael Benitez was manager, they finished in 3rd place. They then changed manager, to JosГ© Mourinho, finishing 2nd in 2014, and 1st in 2015. These teams show evidence that a change in manager was beneficial, as they showed improvement when this occurred. Southampton also appears to prove correlation between a change in management and the team s outcomes. In 2012, with Nigel Adkins, they placed 14th at the end of the season. When Mauricio Pochettino came into control in 2013, they jumped up to 8th in

There wasn t one incident that can be attributed to causing the revolution by it s self. To understand how the revolution was able to take place we must understand the structure of Russia s society from the late 1800 s until when the revolutions took place in 1917. Before the year 1917 Russia had been an autocracy, this means that one man alone had complete power over the whole of Russia. This man was known as the Tsar. In this thesis he stated that he wanted all of the land and wealth in Russia to be re distributed evenly amongst all of the people. He states that a highly organised party will be needed to bring about the revolutions that will achieve a socialist state. In short Lenin wanted a radical shake up in Russia with a communist system in place, resulting in a socialist state where everyone is equal and has equal land. Again this is quite a major factor in contributing to the revolution because of the effect that it has on the party. These radical ideas that Lenin has caused a split in the Russian Social Democratic party. In 1903 it split into the Bolsheviks and the Mensheviks, the Bolsheviks being led by Lenin and the Mensheviks being led by Martov. Stalin went with the Bolsheviks and Trotsky went with the Mensheviks. The Bolshevik party that was formed was the main contributor to the revolution in 1917 as they were the ones that would eventually overthrow the provisional government. However that revolution would never have been able to take place without the social and political factors in Russia at the time, as well as the contribution of the First World War. In the year 1905 the Tsar faced two very tough tests in order to remain in control of Russia. First of all there was an attempted revolution by the

However, surfing wasn t simply a fun sport or a task that these ancient people completed. Instead, it was something that attached them to the sea and they used it to reflect their emotions. During ancient times, surfers would often rely on priests, who were known as Kahunas, for prayers for good waves. Since proper waves are important when looking for a good day of surf, this was a crucial part of the process. Kahunas would dance and cite ritual chants, all in the hopes of pleasing the sea. • 25. The Cold War During World War II The Cold War was a major event in the U.S. and Soviet Union s history. The main reason that these two countries entered into the Cold War after World War II was power. The USSR and United States had two very different perspectives on power coming out of World War II. This disagreement ultimately caused the Cold War . Russia s perspective after World War II was influenced by Joseph Stalin. Stalin, the leader of the USSR at the time, was a merciless dictator. His main concern was maintaining power and assuring the Soviet Union s influence worldwide. During WWII, the Soviet Union lost more than just lives. In addition to the deaths of 20 million citizens, they lost a large amount of their agricultural and industrial resources. Stalin wanted those who were responsible for this mass destruction to pay and rebuild the Soviet economy. The United States had a very different perspective than the Soviet Union. During WWII, the U.S. experienced far less casualties than the USSR at only 400,000 deaths. It also managed to avoid gunfire on the U.S. mainland. These factors influenced the U.S. perspective after the war. Harry S. Truman was a major influence on the U.S. perspective after World War II as well. He came into the office with very little experience internationally and believed that the U.S. needed to have overseas opportunities in order to have a flourishing economy. To ensure this economic prosperity, the United States had to work well with countries that had few trading
  • 26. Descartes s Argument On The Existence Of God In A Discourse on the Method, Descartes attempted to prove the existence of God in a priori manner. He did not trust his own senses when trying to prove the existence of God and therefore he relied on the ontological argument. By making the same assumption made by Anselm, which was that an ontological argument assumes that existenceis a predicate of God, Descartes is able to conclude that God exists is true by definition because the subject God , who already contains all perfections, already contains the predicate exists, which is a perfection. Although this may be perceived as a strong claim to believers, many such as Gaunilo would have disagreed. Descartes postulates his argument in the fourth part of his Discourse in order to try and prove the existence of God. One must discuss why one feels Descartes attempted to do so and exactly how convincing his claim is. However, before one can understand his claim, it is important to grasp an idea of the background that Descartes was writing from when he wrote the Discourse and the meaning of proof. Descartes was a physico mathematician who dedicated a lot of his time to science. He realised that all truths tend to link to one another and therefore combining a fundamental truth with logic, would for him, lead to science. As a devoted Catholic, Descartes claimed that one of the main purposes of the Mediations was to defend Christian faith. In terms of proof, proof is evidence or an argument that establishes or helps to

That worldview is not only the lens through which one views the world, but the expression through which the world shapes how one views the world. In a way, worldview colors what we see in the world, all the while those same things are shaping that very same worldview into something new and different. Ultimately, where our hope lies always remains central to worldview. This is especially true in our view of the physical dimension. How one views the material world and human bodies in relation to human souls and the afterlife is fundamental to one s worldview. Plato, the Late Classical Greek philosopher, and Saint Augustine, the Catholic Bishop of the North African city of Hippo, both made their views on the material world and human bodies clear in their writings and dialogues. While Plato s hope rested in an ethereal bodiless existence, Augustine hoped in the redemption and reconciliation of the body through Christ. Plato made the source of his hope abundantly clear in his dialogue, Phaedo, There is good hope that on arriving where I am going, if anywhere, I shall acquire what has been our chief preoccupation in our past life (Phaedo, 67b c). Plato s ultimate hope and desire was to attain real wisdom. He had a true conundrum, however: he believed that the physical world was by very nature evil. Not only that, but he believed the physical dimension to which our bodies bind us was altogether false. In fact, he

Sunlight easily passes these gases on it way into the earth s atmosphere but on its way out the gases reflect the radiation back towards earth. Carbon Monoxide: Carbon monoxide forms during incomplete combustion of hydrocarbons. It is extremely hazardous as things such as gas central heating boilers which are badly maintained can leak the gas causing carbon monoxide poisoning which would result in death. Carbon monoxide reacts irreversibly with haemoglobin. In red blood cells haemoglobin normally reacts with oxygen to form oxyhaemoglobin, which is then transported from our lungs to all our body cells. When carbon monoxide is breathed in it combines with haemoglobin to form carboxyhaemoglobin where the oxygen is not released from the haemoglobin therefore causing a lack of oxygen which can result in death. The solutions to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning are to give the odorless gas a distinct smell so that people can smell when there are gas leaks in their appliances. Another solution is to install carbon monoxide detectors which act in the same way as fire alarms and give off a signal when they detect carbon monoxide. There are other precautions which can be taken such as maintaining your

Basically think of behaviour modification and how it relates to triggers, when we experience something it can have a positive or negative effect on us. When it s negative, we tend to either ignore it or deal with it in a counter productive way. This is because we either don t want to deal with how the negative stimulus makes us feel or we do self destructive behaviour. What this is called is

Several novels have been written regarding this Great War but one book that sparks the attention of the public some years after this war occurred is entitled The Guns of August. Its title describes the insurmountable events regarding the first month of the first World War. The Guns of August was written by Barbara W. This book elaborates on the events of World War Iin a manner where the author emphasizes rather more on the causes of the war in contrast to the events following the first world war. Tuchman begins the novel with a detailed personal view of the death of the King of the United Kingdom at the time, King Edward VII. Concerning the people present in the novel, several faces are described by Tuchman such as great nobles and great kings that attended this funeral. Although all nobles and kings mourned the death of such great king, the King of Germany himself was joyous for the fact that he would finally show the power of Germany towards the modern world that they knew. At the beginning of the story, the reader learns that Miss Emily is portrayed as a fallen monument, ... because she has shown herself susceptible to death (and decay) after all (West 264). When the Negro opened the blinds of one window, they could see that the leather was cracked, and when they sat down, a faint dust rose sluggishly about their thighs, spinning with slow motes in the single sun ray. The watch s placement in her pocket, its unusually loud ticking, and the chain to which it is attached illustrate both her attempts to control the passage

The Italian and Northern European Renaissance was the marking point for leaving behind the old ways and moving into the more classical ideals and civilizations for Italy and Northern Europe. Because of the move from Florence to Rome, the two most important factors of this time, Classicism and Christianity, were merged into one. Italian ideas were also brought northward through trade and commerce into Europe, where they had a tremendous amount of influence on the artistic traditions there as well (Benton amp; DiYanni, 2008). Both the Italian and Northern European Renaissance had interest in changing their ideals in individualism, humanism, and classicism, which has a large impact on their cultures, and arts. Many of the literary works of this time expressed the same interests between Italy and Northern Europe.
