Invisible Man Essays
Crafting an essay on the theme of "Invisible Man" is a challenging endeavor that requires a deep
understanding of the literary work, a keen analytical mind, and the ability to articulate complex
ideas coherently. The subject matter itself, drawn from Ralph Ellison's seminal novel, demands a
nuanced exploration of race, identity, and societal perceptions.
One of the difficulties lies in navigating the intricate layers of symbolism and metaphor present
in the novel. Unraveling the invisibility motif and its various manifestations requires a careful
examination of the protagonist's journey, the societal constructs he encounters, and the broader
historical and cultural contexts. The need to delve into the author's intentions, narrative
techniques, and the impact of the work adds another layer of complexity.
Furthermore, constructing a compelling thesis that captures the essence of the novel while
offering a fresh perspective poses a significant challenge. The essay must not only analyze the
characters and themes but also contribute something novel to the existing discourse on "Invisible
Man."
Balancing textual evidence with insightful commentary is crucial. It involves not only selecting
relevant quotes from the novel but also providing a sophisticated analysis that demonstrates a
profound engagement with the material. This demands a careful consideration of literary
devices, character motivations, and the broader sociopolitical implications embedded in the
narrative.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Invisible Man" requires a meticulous approach, a deep
understanding of literary elements, and the ability to synthesize complex ideas. However, for
those who find themselves grappling with this task, assistance is available. Similar essays and
much more can be ordered on HelpWriting.net, where expert writers can provide guidance and
support in navigating the intricacies of this challenging topic.

Essay about The Notorious Al Capone
The popular image of the 1920s is of an alcohol soaked, jazz enriched, and
senseless society that was full of crime. Morally minded citizens tried to solve the
growing problem of drunkenness by pushing their efforts to end this behavior. This
crusade gained steam in 1920 when the US outlawed the manufacture and sale of
liquor which was amended into the Constitution. What was supposed to end this wild
behavior of mindless drinking and crime spawned new economic problems and gang
wars in major cities around America. What was known as the prohibition era
entrenched a network of organized crime with some of the most notorious minds and
of these included the most well known, Al Capone. Capone began to take over the

He then followed with saying, who doesn t, in this case he was honest because
most of the American citizens were also violating these drinking laws by going to,
speakeasies, (Bootleg: Murder, Moonshine, and the Lawless Years of Prohibition,
pg 92). These underground or hidden buildings would be the major source of
income for Capone during the years of prohibition. Politicians, law enforcement
and regular citizens would visit these establishments to grab a drink then the next
day fight for enforcement of prohibition. The corrupt enforcement of these laws
extended the longevity of this era and rose the power of Capone and his
accomplices. Capone was already rising in power in the 1920s but the 18th
amendment fueled rise of violence in Capone like yeast in bread. Knowing that
law enforcement would crackdown on his illegal business, he made sure local,
state and federal officials were on his payroll to look the other way. He virtually
paid off every official in the districts where his breweries were set up. This granted
him and his breweries legal immunity. By bribing the crooked law enforcement in
his area, he could plan raids to destroy other rival gang s illegal establishments.
Federal agents who did not take bribes and continued to enforce the law were
prevented by locals who tipped off gangsters. Every year, Capone paid officials a
hulking 15 million dollars but this money did
Alcoholism And Alcohol Abuse And Alcoholism Essay
Most consumers of alcohol do not suffer adverse consequences. Individuals with
excessive drinking patterns, nevertheless, have an elevated risk for alcohol linked
problems ranging from social to health issues. Alcohol abusers are a sub population
of alcoholic or alcohol dependent individuals. However, the terms abuse of alcohol
and alcohol dependence are dissimilar (Harford Muthen, 2001). Consequently, alcohol
abusers may drink excessively without being dependent. In addition, alcohol abuse
includes numerous outcomes and patterns while alcohol dependence or alcoholism
involves specific diagnostic criteria (Harford Muthen, 2001).The peculiarity between
alcohol abuse and alcoholism is significant from the perspective of biopsychology and
treatment. Thus, interventions applied to alcohol abusers may be inadequate for
alcoholic individuals. Conversely, measures that address alcoholism are mostly
unsuitable for the majority of alcohol abusers.
A clear understanding of the brain functions is crucial to understanding the addictive
behavior. Although the brain has objective realities, the analysis of human behavior
requires a subjective approach. Hence, the study of alcoholism requires a holistic
approach in order to achieve full comprehension. According to the International
Center for Alcohol Policies (ICAP) (2015), there are three methodological factors
used to assess alcohol addiction. The elements are the reliability of the assessment
technique, the episodic course of

The Deregulation Of Generation Facilities Essay
INTRODUCTION . Centralization of generation facilities give way to smaller, more
distributed generation partially due to loss of traditional economies of
scale.Penetration of distributed generation across U.S has not yet reached significant
levels. However that situation is changing rapidly, requires attention to issues related
to high penetration of distributed generation within the distribution
system.Distributed generation encompasses wide range of prime mover technologies,
such as IC engines, gas turbines, microturbines, photovoltaic, F.C(fuel cell), wind
power. Most emerging technologies such as micro turbines, photovoltaic, F.C s, gas
internal combustion engines with permanent magnet generator require an inverter to
interface with electrical distribution system, These emerging technologies have lower
emissions, potential to have lower cost negating traditional economies of scale. All
applications include power support at substations, deferral of T D upgrades, onsite
generating. Indiscriminant application of individual distributed generators can cause
as many problems as it may solve. better way to realize emerging potential of
distributed generation is to take system approach which views generation, associated
loads as subsystem or microgrid . This approach allows for local control of distributed
generation thereby reducing or eliminating need for central dispatch. During
disturbances, generation, corresponding loads can separate from distribution system

Fuzzy Systems Essay
Preface
This article is written for an intended audience of undergraduate or graduate students,
this article provides an introduction to, and an overview of what fuzzy systems are.
Presented in this article is an acknowledgment of the contributions that fuzzy systems
are making to the Artificial Intelligence discipline, as well as examples of fuzzy
systems which are in use today.
Abstract
The concept and implementation of fuzzy systems is part of the natural course of
evolution for humans who are a part of a society where access to information is
plentiful but efficient utilization of massive amounts of information is power. To get
at the information, we need systems which can understand what we need, rather than
for us to understand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The origin of fuzzy systems can be traced to the first introduction of formal logic
by Aristotle. Logic introduced by Aristotle was considered to be bilevel logic of
either true or false, and is acknowledged to be the foundation of most of the growth
of the sciences which are known today.[1] However, it was Plato who is accredited
with laying the actual foundations for fuzzy logic when he proposed that there exists
a third area beyond true and false where things were not always true or always
false.[3]
Digital computers in use today are based upon the ideas of Aristotle, where a single
bit of information found in a computer is considered either true or false, that the
transistor gate is either turned on or off. Many fundamental aspects of society today
are based upon concepts of right or wrong, innocent or guilty, a member of a group
or not a member of some group.
The human race has toyed with and enjoyed the concept of a perfect society, where
everything was easily classified into good or bad, right or wrong, true or false and
has created computers to respond to that type of idealistic and simplistic world. This
philosophy has served the human race well as computers were created to operate in
very predictable ways that were
Father Son Relationships In Things Fall Apart
Every father should remember that one day his son will follow his example instead
of his advice. This quote by Charles F Kettering embodies what a father son
relationship really is. A father is someone a son looks up to, whether in a good or
bad light depends on the situation. Father son relationships can take two paths, one
where the sondoes everything the father hates and the others were the son does
everything the father does. Fathers play a major role in their son s life with
examples of the relationship found throughout the novel Things Fall Apart by
Chinua Achebe in the characters of Okonkwo, Nwoye and Unoka. For better or
worse Unoka played a major role in Okonkwo s life. It was fear of himself, lest he
should be found to resemble his father. (Achebe 13). Throughout the entirety of
Okonkwo s life, his relationship with his father would affect his decisions which
were always based on the question, Would my father do this? , and if he would he
would do the opposite. Okonkwo viewed his father as a failure and did not want to
even be seen as being related to him. Okonkwo got this impression at a young age,
Even as a young boy he resented his father s failure and weaknesses ... (Achebe 13).
The lessons that Okonkwo got from... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Okonkwo took all of the feelings of how he felt about his father and made sure to
teach his son the right way unlike his father. These teaching did not go over well
for Nwoye however, Nwoye was only twelve years old but was already causing his
father great anxiety for his incipient laziness. (Achebe 13) Okonkwo s constant
shows of how a man should be really had the opposite effect on Nwoye. Nwoye
developed into a boy that resembled his father in the way he acted, and that bothered
Okonkwo. The relationship between Okonkwo and Nwoye shows that not only does
the father son relationship affect the son it also affects his son and so

This exhibition essentially allows the spectator to explore Degas at a time when he
was most audaciously creative. According to research provided by the MoM, during
this time in his career, Degas experimented with drawing in ink on a metal plate
which was then run through a press. Going forward in his artistic evolution, he then
experimented with forming shapes to create images that would in turn challenge how
art viewers would experience his work in the public space.
This exhibition at the MoMA allows viewers to rediscover how Degas manipulates
his strokes to generate a romantic sense of poetry based on the contrast between black
and white imagery. Some argue that these famous,
Lego Movie Sociology
The Lego Movie is a film that focuses on the impression of life in a Lego world but
misses key concepts incorporated with Lego. At a first impression, the Lego Movie
is viewed as a movie directed towards children to stir their imagination but this
would be ironic to what is being portrayed in the film. By analyzing the ideas behind
the movie in a sociological process, distinct themes can be connected and reflected
within reality. The LegoMovie can be viewed in a functionalist perspective that is
influenced by the conflict theory within the divided Lego society. To connect the
sociological views to their society, one must understand how they interact and why
they interact the way they do. From the beginning scenes of the movie, the viewer
analyzing the content can undeniably see the conformity of the citizens of
Bricksburg. One strong example would be how Emmet,... Show more content on

To define, symbolic interaction theory looks at individual and group meaning
making, and focusing on human action instead of large scale social structures. In
the case of the Lego movie, the characters that are aware of the believed prophecy
share their understandings to others and create meanings to objects and people. For
example, the followers of the prophecy made up by Vitruvius were in a common
judgement about the Piece of Resistance, The Special one, and the critical Kragle.
They used these objects and beliefs to come together in a resistance and create the
ideology that they must overthrow President Business in order to practice creativity.
As a result of this, a counterculture is established. A counterculture is a way of life
and set of attitudes opposed to or at variance with the prevailing social norm. The
counterculture formed by the Master builders are opposed to Lord Business intent to
eliminate creativity from being practiced and using his power to control
Energy And Clean Water Scarcity
INTRODUCTION
Even with the advanced technology which is available today, there are places on the
face of the Earth that doesn t have access to Electric Power and clean water for
drinking and irrigation. Energy and clean water scarcity are two major problems in
countries that are developing and trying to achieve Energy Independence.
The country I chose for the report is India because it gives a better contrast in the
terms of population, area, climatic conditions, development and technology.
This report which talks about Energy and Water Scarcity, covers the domestic sources
that are present in both of the countries, how the Governments are changing the
course of the nation towards Renewable Energy and Incentives provided to such
technologies.
1.ENERGY SCARCITY
India is a developing and second largest democracy in the world. India depends on
coal as its main source of electricity as it comprises of 65% of its total production. It
has 278.733 GW installed capacity as of September, 2015. But with ever growing
population of over 1.287 billion (Anon., 2015), the demand is increasing every year.
The grid is creaking trying to meet the demand. In the process there are blackouts
which affected the Northern half of India heavily in the year 2012.
On 31st July, 2012, 20 of India s 28 states are in darkness because of the blackout
which is a major one considering the population affected. Near to 700 million people
are without power (Pidd, 2012). This occurred due to the

Introduction
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide the Board of Directors of PepsiCo
Inc. with analysis and recommendations on how much PepsiCo should pay per share
for the acquisition of Quaker Oats and the best way to carry out the transaction.
Overview of PepsiCo Inc.
Throughout its history, PepsiCo has developed its business with aggressive
acquisitions mergers with companies in different industries. It entered the snack food
industry by acquiring Frito Lay in 1968 and the branded juice industry by acquiring
Tropicana in 1998. Currently, the company is amongst the world leaders... Show

By the end of year 2000 PepsiCo had recorded a net sales of $20,438 million 0.34%
increase over its previous year sales. Although there is a negligible increase in
sales in the year 2000, company is still able to achieve an improvement in net
profit of 6.48% by reducing the cost of goods sold and increasing its operational
efficiency. The improvement in net income is partly due to company s reduced
depreciation amount in the year 2000. PepsiCo s gross profit margin and net profit
margin in the year 2000 is high 65.16% and 10.68% respectively, indicating greater
profitability of the company. Both the gross profit and net profit margin have
improved in 1997 and have been stable since then. Although Operating margin of
PepsiCo has improved by 3 percentage points in 1997, it hasn t changed much since
then. ROA and ROE have been 11.90% and 30.11% respectively. In 2000 COGS
/Sales is 34.84% and SG A/Sales is 44.68%. Although COGS has been decreasing
over last five years, SG A/Sales has been constant.
Quaker Oat s business and financial performance in the recent past
Quaker Oat s business can be broadly classified into two segments Foods and
Beverages. Quaker Oats has a worldwide presence, but its major sales come from
North American market. By the end of 1999 Quaker Oats had annual sales of
around $4.72 billion. 61% of its total sales came from Foods and remaining 39%
came from Beverages. Although the Foods
Black Friday History
Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving in the United States, where it is the
beginning of the traditional Christmas shopping season. Since Thanksgiving falls on
the fourth Thursday in
November in the United States, Black Friday may be as early as the 23rd and as late
as the
29th of November. More recently, there is new understanding that the term originates
from the theory that retailers traditionally operated at a financial loss for most of the
year (January through November) and made their profit during the holiday season.
When this would be recorded in the financial records, accounting practices would use
red ink to show negative amounts and black ink to show positive amounts. Black

ABSTRACTComponent based system development offer great flexibility and
improvements in large software systems development. Developer of system needs not
to start from scratch, but by using Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) component he
can integrate the whole system applying the glue code with component interface.
Most of the COTS components are black box in nature because of source code

Sacrifice Of Iphigenia Essay
Sacrifice is a common theme in Greek Mythology. Sometimes a sacrifice is made
for the greater good of a situation, and sometimes the sacrifice is a person. In one
myth, a girl named Iphigenia is sacrificed to gain better results for the Trojan army.
She is sacrificed on a public altar and even her father is willing to sacrificeher to
benefit his soldiers. In The Sacrifice of Iphigenia, Giovanni Battista Tiepolo shows
that as long as nothing happens to them, people do not care what happens to others,
while Iphigenia by Alfred Lord Tennyson shows that death is a hard, terrible, and
painful event.
The Sacrifice of Iphigenia has a tone of misfortune. Iphigenia is best known as the
daughter of Agamemnon who is the leader of Troy s Greek forces. Agamemnon
aggravated Artemis, the god of the hunt, by boasting about his hunting skills.
Agamemnon also kills one of Artemis sacred hares. For this Agamemnon has to
sacrifice his daughter Iphigenia for the favorable winds from the gods. In the
painting, Agamemnon is standing behind the altar where Iphigenia is being
sacrificed. He looks sad and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While in the poem, Tennyson depicts the way Iphigenia feels during the event. Not
that the poem is necessarily about the painting; but is coincidentally an exact
representation of the same events from two different perspectives. In the painting
it shows Iphigenia just sacrificed, and it is more of an outsider s view of the story.
In the poem, it is a look at the situation from one person s point of view, and it
makes you feel more for Iphigenia. In the painting, there are lots of people
standing around watching the sacrifice, and it makes you feel aggravated and
disgusted that people would be there just to watch. The painting made the story
seem almost theatrical or like it was a scene from a play. The poem made the story
seem more real like you are there with her and can feel her agony and
The Film Angela s Ashes
Angela s Ashes
The lead actor s life in the film Angela s Ashes can be explored through western and
cultural theories of human development.
Although the story is titled Angela s Ashes for me the focal character was Frankie
(Francis) McCourt. His complex and tumultuous life drove the story from
beginning to end and although his mother Angela was very important she was part
and parcel of the bigger picture that was Frankie McCourt s life story (Parker,
1999). For me the story resonates the resilience of young people and their ability
and inability to work their way through life. The amount of sadness, instability and
constant impoverishment would have broken most, but Frankie in his role as eldest
brother and son always seemed to find a way to cope and move forward.
Both Cultural and Western theorists would have had a field day with the reality of
Frankie s life, but in looking at the ideas of two specific theorists to endeavour to
make sense of his journey I chose cultural theorist Mason Durie and western theorist
Albert Bandura.
Mason Durie s Te Whare Tapa Wha model looks at the individual as a whole piece
that needs four parts to function; taha wairua (spiritual), taha hinegaro (mental), taha
tinana (physical), taha whanau (family) (Durie, 1998). If one part is having difficulty,
one or all of the other three parts will take the strain in some way in order for the
individual to function as normal as possible. In the story Frankie s life was a melee
of all four
Effectiveness Of Redefining Failure By Julia Baird
The Effectiveness of Redefining Failure
The article, Redefining Failure by Julia Baird focuses on the development of failure
throughout time. Her argument addresses that the definition of failure has evolved
over the years because with time and events the word becomes classified
differently. In her article, she offers examples of different circumstances to
effectively portray her stance on the topic. In Julia Baird s standpoint, a person s
economic standing is not the most effective way of measuring one s success or
failure. Redefining Failure is a persuasive and effective article because of the way it
is organized, constructed, and the numerous examples that it provides.
When evaluating the article Redefining Failure, it is important to ... Show more

Initially, Baird introduces the idea that America s beliefs about failure were formed
in the 1800 s and progressed further into the 19th century. She brings up her opinion
on how the 19th century was different from today because of the way that their
society believed failure to be such a devastating occurrence. Additionally, the article
explains how the people in these times believed that failure was a cause of a lack of
ambition. She presents this idea by quoting another author, Scott Sandage, who wrote
the novel, Born Losers: A History of Failure in America. She quotes Sandage by
saying, By the end of the 19th century, says Sandage, failure had gone from being a
professional mishap to a name for a deficient self, an identity in the red. (Baird,
Redefining Failure). By quoting from another source who has a similar opinion,
Baird is giving the reader multiple references that represent her goal. This shows a
competent understanding of the argument that she is providing. Additionally, at this
point in Baird s article, she reinstates why Willy from the Death of a Salesman is
related to the changing definition of failure. She does this by quoting yet another
source, saying, By the middle of the last century, at the time Willy Loman was
hawking his wares, Americans could not face the possibility of defeat in one s
personal life or one s work without being morally destroyed, according to sociologist
David Riesman. (Baird, Redefining Failure). Baird uses this
The Process of Exorcism Essay
When the term exorcism is mentioned, many people think of the devil possessed
head spinning, lead character in the 1973 movie The Exorcist. What is the actual
definition of exorcism that Hollywood does not share with us? Exorcism as
defined by the Catholic Encyclopedia is (1) the act of driving out, or warding off,
demons, or evil spirits, from persons, places, or things, which are believed to be
possessed or infested by them, or are liable to become victims or instruments of their
malice; (2) the means employed for this purpose, especially the solemn and
authoritative adjuration of the demon, in the name of God, or any of the higher
power in which he is subject (Toner). However, man people are far less versed in the

Christianity is mostly closely associated with Jesus Christ, its founder and premier
exorcists. Out of all of Jesus healing one fourth of them dealt with Exorcism and there
are at least 26 references to exorcisms preformed by Jesus in the New Testament.
Through out the Gospel many accounts of Jesus performing exorcists are
documented in the Gospel by his apostles (Bancroft.) The first accounts of Jesus
performing types of exorcisms comes from Mathew 4: 24. Matthew writes that Jesus
cured all the people who were possessed, lunatics, and paralytic. This also integrates
the idea that exorcism is not just about free an individual from demonic possession,
but also free them of mental and physical diseases as well. In the Gospel according
to Mark, Jesus casts out multiple demons named Legion out of man from
Gerasenes, who would cry all night and bruise himself with stones, into a herd of
pigs who than ran off a cliff to their own demise (Mark 5: 1 20). Satan does not act
alone when he posses an individual, he is working with several evil spirits such as
lust, hate, destruction, , anger, anxiety, desperation, suicide, revenge death and
torment. Conversely Exorcism is not always seen as a negative experience. In Acts
16: 16, It is told of a women possessed by an oracular spirit, literally a python spirit
of whom was the guardian of Delphic oracles. In
Sugar Cravings Essay
Despite popular beliefs about how blood sugar levels relate to craving, there is
very little if any evidence indicating this to be true. Food cravings are largely a
psychological phenomenon that relates to old habits and learning. The most likely
reason that we see cravings in folks like you who have developed type 2 diabetes
may simply be that the history of eating patterns that contributed to the development
of the diabetes is persisting. Here s the good news: As is the case with all learned
behavior, cravings can be unlearned.
Remember, you can take control of cravings.

diabetes, there could be several other sugar cravings causes. Some of the most

However, if you feel depressed for any reason, your hormone levels tend to
plummet, which also has an effect on your metabolism. This is probably most
people turn towards comfort foods like ice cream, chocolate, cake and so on, when
they go through bouts of depression. The reason for this is that most people go
through intense sugar cravings when they feel depressed. Sugar can release
serotonin in the body, but it is only for a short period of time. Be prepared to
experience some sugar cravings, for as long as you remain depressed.
Eating habits: One of the facts about sweets is that the more you give your body
sugar, the more your body will crave it. In several cases, people are used to eating
sweets on a regular basis, which is why their body develops sugar cravings, if it
does not get the amount of sugar it is used to. Hence going on a restrictive diet,
which limits the intake of sugar considerably could trigger of intense sugar cravings in

December 07, 2015 For the fall semester, I wanted to volunteer at an agency where I
could interact with people because I enjoy helping others. When I found out that I
could volunteer at the library, I jumped on that chance right away. Volunteering at the
Eva K. Bowlby Library allowed me to do those things. There are two current
considerations regarding our society. First, should the federal, local, and state
government allocate and spend tax dollars to fund professional social agencies that
would, in turn, meet the needs of their communities? Secondly, the burden for
social agencies would be placed on individual citizens and agencies that choose to
serve those in need by giving of personal time, money, and skills. Those two
considerations have major effects on my service site. Funding for social agenices has
been a topic for many years where libraries are the focus point from what I have
gathered. Should the federal, local, and state government allocate and spend tax
dollars to fund professional social agencies that would, in turn, meet the needs of their
communities? There are many positives and negatives about government funding for
libraries. The Grants to States Program is one of the largest federal funding programs
that support library services in the U.S. In fact, there are more than 150 million
dollars distributed throughout the State Library Administrative Agenices (SLAA).

the game to youth naturally has led him into the creation of a successful training
camp. His Soccer Academy, MANU, has had great success in his Colorado
hometown of Fort Collins. As we explore MANU we will look at many different
factors eventually advising Tom Owen on what his next actions in the market should

This makes it more difficult to expand into distant markets because Owen can only be
in one place at a time.
Lastly, we will look at the possible threats. Fortunately, because of MANU s niche
market in their current location, their external threats are somewhat limited. Most of
MANU s threats come from the external environment such as the economic
environment. Parents may regard soccer camp as a relatively elastic service and be
willing to go without it because of the economic downturn and growing
unemployment. This may be looked at as a luxury that can be done without.
The analysis provided an overview for MANU Soccer Academy and seems to show
that MANU is completely prepared to go ahead with the expansion. The main issue
that could impact the success of MANU s expansion lies in the economic
environment. The economy is currently in a recession.
A large portion of MANU s customers live in the immediate area. There are also
several largely populated area around this area. This makes way for MANU to
expand the coverage area. There is relatively low direct competition for MANU in
Tom s immediate or surrounding area. The target buyer for the services that MANU
provides is competitive soccer players ages 11 to 14. However, the ultimate buyer is
the mother of the soccer player. One must market to both mother and child.

Beowulf As An Epic Hero Essay
Every epic hero possesses certain heroic characteristics. Beowulf, like other epic
heroes, possesses the following heroic qualities: epic heroes are superhuman types
of beings. They have a noble birth and show great bravery. They display great
intelligence and resourcefulness. They have a reverence for G d and for the values
of their society. They are dominant male figures and suffer severe pain, but in the
end, they conquer evil (Vivone 9/27/99). In addition to Beowulfs heroic qualities, he
is very strong. Beowulf was said to have the strength of thirty [men] in his mighty
handgrip (Bloom11). Early proof of Beowulf s extraordinary strength is evidenced by
his dismemberment of Grendel s limb, the fightin the cave under water, and the...

In the morning, warriors look for the body of Grendel by following his bloody trail.
They cannot find his body and turn back. Hrothgar s men finally think that they no
longer will be plagued with the presence of the monster and that now they can sleep
in peace.
However, their sleep did not last long. During the night, Grendel s mother came to
avenge her son s death. She enters the hall and grabs Aeschere and her son s arm.
Beowulf goes to follow her and swims for an entire day in her pool before he sees
the bottom of the mere. When Beowulf descends into Grendel s mere, he loses
ground as the fight progresses. It is then assumed that Beowulf is fighting
desperately for his life. Then, the water closed over him. It was the space of a day,
before he could see the bottom of the mere (Burlin 121). The hero s physical
powers grow far beyond human dimensions. Beowulf is about to attempt to use a
weapon although they were useless against her; then he saw, hanging on the wall, a
heavy sword...but so massive that no ordinary man could life its carved and
decorated length (72). Once he is in Grendel s mother s mere, Beowulf remains
underwater for more than a day (Burlin 120). Finally, Beowulf kills Grendel s
mother, and her blood melts his sword (Bloom 16).
Thus far, Beowulf has killed two man like monsters. Beowulf s last battle with a
dragon is the final substantial fantastic element in this epic poem. W.P. Ker, a
nineteenth century critic, asserts the dragons are
Changing Economic Structure Of The United States
Economy
Change in Economic Structure Harmful to U.S. Economy By: Samuel Winegar
Submitted to: Dr. S. Ray Barnes 05/05/2015 Thesis Unemployment has been on the
rise in the United States in recent years. One of the large contributing factors of this
is the change in the structure of the country s economy. Many jobs, particularly
manufacturing and industrial type jobs are being outsourced to other countries. An
increase in unemployment due to a change in the economy is structural
unemployment. This paper will discuss how structure unemployment is causing
harm to the United States economy. Background It is evident that the economy of
the United States is changing. The world in which we used to see an economy of
all American made products and American services is rapidly disappearing. Many
American companies are outsourcing the jobs they have to offer to other
countries. These are the very jobs that helped create our economy and help us
thrive. James Moreland states The capitalist market in the United States makes it
nearly impossible for any successful company to avoid the lure of cutting American
industrial jobs and shipping the work abroad. Free trade agreements such as
NAFTA and our membership in the WTO have caused the U.S. to be forced to
compete with third world countries such as China and Mexico, where wages are
often less than $4 an hour. (Moreland 2014) in his article The Outsourcing of
American Jobs Hurts The Economy on Every Level . However, with
Acai Berries Aren t That Wonderful Essay
Acai Berry
For many years, dieters have called acai berries a super fruit. Many diet pill
companies have touted the health benefits of acai due to its rich antioxidant content.
Unfortunately, popular weight loss claims surrounding this berry are unfounded.
Little scientific research exists to back up false and exaggerated statements made by
diet pill manufacturers.

Acai berries share a similar appearance with grapes and are native to Central and
South America. Deep purple in color, the berries are a staple in the diet of
Amazonian populations. In the United States, Brazilian acai berries are often

strong History /strong
Acai berries commonly found in the United States come from the Amazonian region
of Brazil. Traditionally, the berry juice was used for nutrition, medicinal healing and
as a natural dye. The juice can be mixed with ice cream, chocolates, and liquor.
In 2008, acai berries found fame when Dr. Oz mentioned their potential effects and
benefits on Oprah Winfrey s show. Diet pill companies were quick to claim
endorsements by the celebrity surgeon, Rachel Ray and Oprah herself. It was not
long before unscrupulous manufacturers began tying celebrity names to their
products without consent. Diet pill companies created blogs and entire marketing
campaigns based on false claims that acai berries had the ability to boost weight loss.
These claims were proven to be unfounded. The companies were later found to be
involved in credit card fraud scams aimed at unsuspecting consumers who signed up
for their free trials.
Oprah, Rachel Ray and Dr. Oz attempted to distance themselves from the controversy.
Acai fueled weight loss claims have not been proven by science, and the celebrities
who were inadvertently dragged into the scam had made no such statements at all.
The FTC eventually stepped in and took action against the scammers, and the Better
Business Bureau warned consumers against acai diet advertisements. To this day,
consumers are encouraged to take great care when
The At The Stones River Battlefield
On April 19th I recently decided to go to the Stones River Battlefield. In the
beginning I honestly was very interested in going to somewhere I had been to
before, but then I realized that I could use some new information in my life. I have
recently be to the Parthenon in Nashville, and I like it there also, but I am glad that
I got the chance to go to the battlefield. However, when it comes to history a part of
me find it very hard to retain the information I have learned, and the other half of
me see it kind of boring. The more and more I visit places to see and do hands on
things for myself, the more it helps me understand what I have learned. With this
being said, I am very glad to have attended the battlefield.
Amongst my visit, I was a little confused on what I was doing, but I decided to get
out of the car and proceed walking to the building. When I entered the building
there was a tall guy who greeted me, he wore an outfit similar to a boys scout
leader. He then asked me if it was my first time attending and I said yes. There was a
couple coming through the door, so he greeted them both and then told us a little
about the exhibit. He then instructed us on how to see all of the exhibit and gave us a
map/brochure. I then walked away and started to look around on my own. At first
what caught my attention is the models and some of the things written on the walls. I
then noticed that even though I was reading it, I was not retaining the information, so

Fuente Ovejuna By Lope De Vega
The play, Fuente Ovejuna was written by Spanish playwright Lope de Vega. It was
most likely written between 1612 and 1614 and was first published in Madrid in
1619. The play is based on an actual historical event that took place in the village of
Fuente Ovejuna, which is located North West of CГіrdoba, in 1476. The play
presents information on what life was like in the kingdom of Castile during the
15th century. Fuente Ovejuna is far more than a dramatic series of events as it
reflects on the political and social aspects of Spain during this time period. (Spain

How Did The Indio Are Innately Indolent
1.Did Rizal agree with the typical European accusation that the Indios are indeed
innately indolent or lazy?
Personally, I believe that this essay poses two arguments about the indolence of the
Filipinos, Rizal, in the beginning of his essay alleged that Indios are indolent, but
only in the sense of little love for work or lack of energy, and not indolence as in the
context of laziness. With this belief, he even attributed to climate the indolence of the
natives. However, as I read through the essay, there were lines which I believe
presents the idea that the natives were not indolent. According to the line, certain
unsubdued tribes have been cultivating beautiful fields and working energetically. In
addition to that, it also points out the idea that in spite of the climate and the few
needs that natives have during that time, since if we compare their needs with the
needs of the modern times we have more needs and sometimes complicated wants
than before, were not indolent. Thus, I think that Rizal ... Show more content on

Due to the lack of training and education of the natives, they were limited to aim for
a better life and not to excel in their own fields nor to do other jobs aside from
farming, fishing, etc. Without independence to decide on their own, they are being
enslaved by their own inhibitions and fears, which were then taken advantage by
those who have greater power.
Thus, education plays a very vital role in every aspect of the life of an Indio.
Because of the lack of knowledge and strong faith and hope in miracles, most of
our Indios were becoming dependent on the wonderful things of the Church. They
pray for good faith, and let God do what is best for them and provide their needs. If
only natives were educated about how life should be and how they should do. Once
educated, people would not be blinded by the false promises and glittery words of

Electric Cars
The Advantages and Disadvantages of Electric Cars
Introduction to Electric Cars
An electric car is a vehicle which is driven by electric engines. The engines use
electrical energy which is usually stored in batteries. Electric car is a variation of
electric vehicle (EV). EV speaks of any vehicles which are propelled by electric
engines. Electric car is a general term for high speed vehicles which are powered by
electricity. In the United States, low speed vehicles which are powered by electricity
are known as neighbourhood electric vehicles (NEVs), and as electric motorised
quadricycles in Europe.
Electric cars which are powered by different energy sources are also referred to by

Battery packs are bulky and heavy. They take up a significant amount of the vehicle
space. Given the heavy weight, they battery packs can reduce the distance of how
far the car can travel. Another disadvantage is the silence of electric cars. Yes, it can
be soothing for some people, but it can also be dangerous for others. People usually
listen to the sound of the revving engines when cars are coming up behind or beside
them. When it is silent, they might not notice the cars and they can end up in an
accident.

past 60 years due to many reasons. The societal changes occurring over time and
economical effects on both micro and macro levels, and the evolution of gender
roles along with many other causes have all played a role in developing the family.
By the 1990 s, the census reported that only about 21% of married couples lived

stepfamilies do indeed make up 1/3 of American households. With the growing
changes in families and the people that make up families, many new concerns are

Rhetorical Devices In No Name Woman
In Maxine Hong Kingston s essay No Name Woman, Kingston speculates the life of
her deceased aunt from an anecdote her mother tells her. Kingston s aunt is never
discussed and is essentially dead to the family and village since she was impregnated
by a man other than her husband. As a result, the village raided the familys home,
killed their livestock, and destroyed dinnerware to show Kingston s aunt a fraction of
the betrayal she had caused the town. Kingston s version of the story retells her aunt
being coerced to pursue a new man other than her husband that ends in an unplanned

of rejection and humiliation that her sins have caused her by jumping into the village

The theme of obsession is important in the novel Fleshmarket by Nicola Morgan.

Essie who are brother and sister. They live in an awful, poverty stricken environment
in the old town after everything changed when their mother died at the hands of
Doctor Robert Knox. Robbie Blames Knox for his horrible life and suffering as he

anatomy, as if someone is making Robbie read the books.
Robbie s obsession leads him to spend a night in the Canongate Toolbooth as he
gets caught in the surgeon s library Robbie turned his face towards the wall and
dragged his parched tongue against the dripping stones. And as he drank he cried.
This incident highlights how low Robbie has sunk; he is so desperate that he is

While Robbie is in jail he is bewildered as to why he s let the obsession with Knox

he screwed up his eyes against it. What have I done? What has Doctor Knox made

Essay On The Trojan War
During the time of the ancient Greeks, there was much tension between the Trojans
and the Greeks, leading to the famous Trojan War. It all started when Paris, the
prince of the magnificent city of Troy, abducted a woman after making a deal with
the goddess of love, Aphrodite. There are many variations on how the war began
and the battles that took place during it, but one event stayed for certain: The story
of the large, wooden horse that lead to the downfall of Troy. Most of the information
about this historical event was recorded in Homer s famous works, The Iliadand The
Odyssey. The Trojan War
was started by a petty feud between three goddesses, fought
by brave warriors, and recorded in Homer s Iliad and Odyssey.
Conflicts began between the Trojans and the Greeks began long ago when King
Peleus, who later on became the father of the Trojan War hero, Achilles
, married
Thetis, a sea nymph. Their marriage was celebrated by the all of the gods except
for the goddess of discord and strife, Eris, who was not included in the celebration,
(History.com). Infuriated, Eris threw her gift, a golden apple who was to be gifted
to the fairest, amongst the guest. This wedding lead to the Trojan War because of the
feud between the three goddesses, Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite, that occurred next.
They quarreled over the apple and the title of it possessed and decided to ask Paris, a
mortal prince, who truly was the fairest, most magnificent, goddess. They then bribed

The Stockton Civic Theatre s production of Avenue Q last Thursday night depicts an
accurate portrayal of life after graduating from college. The protagonist is a fresh
out of college puppet named Princeton who is trying to seek a job and housing in the
outer borough of New York City. After finding a cheap and unoccupied room in an
apartment located on Avenue Q, Princeton befriends his neighbors who are made
up of both people and puppets. Princeton meets and falls in love with an

is constantly troubled about finding his purpose in life. Princeton, who is played
by Jacob Bronson has the ability to connect with the audience despite being visible
holding the puppet on stage. Bronson is not only a good actor, but also excels in
his singing. He has a very loud and distinctive voice which is proven in the
beginning of the play, What Do You Do with a B.A. in English? Kate Monster,
who is played by Randi Linee also has the ability to connect with the audience even
though she is clearly visible holding the puppet. She gives Kate a very vibrant and
expressive character and uses hand movements to help show Kate s emotions. Kate s
hand gestures are not a big distraction unlike the other actors holding puppets. Linee s
representation of the emotion of being distraught over love is very realistic and

According to an Oxford journal about autism, affected children or adults almost
always show evidence of restricted imagination and predilection for rigid routines
(O Callaghan, 2002).The need for a set routine is demonstrated when Sam
becomes extremely upset when Lucy suggests they go to Big Boy instead of
IHOP; Afterwards when he agrees to go, he starts screaming and acting out
because the restaurant did not have the same pancakes as IHOP. Also Sam and his
friends have a set weekly schedule of Wednesday at IHOP, Thursdays are movie
night, and Friday is Karaoke. When one of the plans is changed it causes high
anxiety and angst among the group. Autism spectrum disorder is a developmental
disorder that affects a persons ability to socialize and communication with others
(NAMI, 2011). The difficulty with communication is shown throughout the movie.
In one scene, Sam was helping Lucy with her schoolwork and he came across
problem could not solve he mentally shut down and changed the subject. The
absence of social normalities is shown when baby Lucy accidentally makes a woman

The Role of Railroad Companies, Farmers, and Cowboys
in...
The 1880s proved to be a time of change for America. High unemployment rates and
low wages in many cities forced many to look to new opportunities in cities and
elsewhere. This included the newly expanded west. In the 1880s Kansas had three
dominating groups railroad companies, farmers, and cowboys. All three dealt with
individual triumphs and struggles when developing the West and specifically Kansas
in the later part of the 19th century. Railroads spent most of the 1880s concerned with
previous legislation, farmersworried about land allotment and surviving on the Plains.
Cowboys also worried about land allotment and surviving. The worries of the last two
created some tension between them but in the end survival of one depended on the...

1862 was an important year in the world of the Kansas railroads. First, the
Homestead Act was passed giving 160 acres of federal land to any citizen or
person intending to be one. The condition was that they had to remain on the land
for a minimum of five years. Anyone that stayed on this land for that period of time
would become a citizen automatically. The land came from the railroads in an effort
to dispose of substantial land holdings to settlers. (Evans 7) This law was
particularly important to people in all parts of the Midwest. One reason is that it
allowed unemployed northern workers a chance to start over somewhere new, with
a new job, and hopefully make a good living for themselves and their families. The
second reason wasthat many hoped that it would ultimately raise the wages of those
people who did have jobs in the northern factories. (White 142)
The Homestead Act was not the only expansion legislation passed in 1862. That year
also saw the passage of the Pacific Railroad Act which provided land for the
PacificRailroad. It doubled federal land grants to ten sections per mile within 20
miles on each side of the tracks. And it liberalized the term mineral rights by
forfeiting all iron and coal deposits on the grant lands to the railroad companies.
(Howard 170) It also offered subsidy to other efforts at building trunk line railroads.

Special Effects Technician Career Overview and Pay Structure
A Special Effects Technician uses Computer Generated Imagery (CGI), pyrotechnics
and physical effects to create visual illusions in film, television, stage or video
productions. I will attempt to explain the major areas of work covered under the title
of Special Effects Technician, the education required and the salary expected in the
field The Physical Effects Technician is the technician that works to make props,
models, scenery, prosthetics and mechanically animated pieces. The physical effects
technician works with a variety of mediums. Body and facial prosthetics utilize

This technique is used to layer foreground and background images based on color
hues or the chroma range. The CGI technician layers the computer modelling
around the actor. Programs such as PhotoKey 6 Pro make it possible to render the
images seemlessly. Being a CGI technician requires computer knowledge and takes
hours to edit and add in the actors into the computer generated world. An example
of a seemless CGI movie is Avatar which cost $425,000,000 to make but grossed
$2.7 Billion worldwide (www.the numbers.com/movie/budgets/). For every 1/24
of a second or one frame of film it took 47 hours of rendering (www.imdb.com/title
/tt0499549/trivia). There are specialized training school for Special Effects
Technicians, such as the Art institute with multiple locations across the country and
a few in California.. A College degree is not required it is common especially in the
area of CGI. A Pyrotechnician must be certified by the state that they work in and
pass a Pyrotechnic safety and handling course. The Physical Effects Technician
should have a firm grasp of art styles and art mediums. Now that we know what a
Special Effects Technician does, what kind of monetary compensation do they earn.
A person can specialize in one or more areas of expertise.
Their earnings vary due to geographic location. Since a large majority of the special
effects are used in movies, California offers the highest yearly wage of $85,000 per
year,New York has a range of $41,000

  • 2. Essay about The Notorious Al Capone The popular image of the 1920s is of an alcohol soaked, jazz enriched, and senseless society that was full of crime. Morally minded citizens tried to solve the growing problem of drunkenness by pushing their efforts to end this behavior. This crusade gained steam in 1920 when the US outlawed the manufacture and sale of liquor which was amended into the Constitution. What was supposed to end this wild behavior of mindless drinking and crime spawned new economic problems and gang wars in major cities around America. These underground or hidden buildings would be the major source of income for Capone during the years of prohibition. Politicians, law enforcement and regular citizens would visit these establishments to grab a drink then the next day fight for enforcement of prohibition. The corrupt enforcement of these laws extended the longevity of this era and rose the power of Capone and his accomplices. Capone was already rising in power in the 1920s but the 18th amendment fueled rise of violence in Capone like yeast in bread. Knowing that law enforcement would crackdown on his illegal business, he made sure local, state and federal officials were on his payroll to look the other way. He virtually paid off every official in the districts where his breweries were set up. This granted him and his breweries legal immunity. By bribing the crooked law enforcement in his area, he could plan raids to destroy other rival gang s illegal establishments. Federal agents who did not take bribes and continued to enforce the law were prevented by locals who tipped off gangsters. Every year, Capone paid officials a hulking 15 million dollars but this money did
  • 3. Alcoholism And Alcohol Abuse And Alcoholism Essay Most consumers of alcohol do not suffer adverse consequences. Individuals with excessive drinking patterns, nevertheless, have an elevated risk for alcohol linked problems ranging from social to health issues. Alcohol abusers are a sub population of alcoholic or alcohol dependent individuals. However, the terms abuse of alcohol and alcohol dependence are dissimilar (Harford Muthen, 2001). Consequently, alcohol abusers may drink excessively without being dependent. In addition, alcohol abuse includes numerous outcomes and patterns while alcohol dependence or alcoholism involves specific diagnostic criteria (Harford Muthen, 2001).The peculiarity between alcohol abuse and alcoholism is significant from the perspective of biopsychology and treatment. Thus, interventions applied to alcohol abusers may be inadequate for alcoholic individuals. Conversely, measures that address alcoholism are mostly unsuitable for the majority of alcohol abusers. A clear understanding of the brain functions is crucial to understanding the addictive behavior. Although the brain has objective realities, the analysis of human behavior requires a subjective approach. Hence, the study of alcoholism requires a holistic approach in order to achieve full comprehension. According to the International Center for Alcohol Policies (ICAP) (2015), there are three methodological factors used to assess alcohol addiction. The elements are the reliability of the assessment technique, the episodic course of

Centralization of generation facilities give way to smaller, more distributed generation partially due to loss of traditional economies of scale.Penetration of distributed generation across U.S has not yet reached significant levels. However that situation is changing rapidly, requires attention to issues related to high penetration of distributed generation within the distribution system.Distributed generation encompasses wide range of prime mover technologies, such as IC engines, gas turbines, microturbines, photovoltaic, F.C(fuel cell), wind power. Most emerging technologies such as micro turbines, photovoltaic, F.C s, gas internal combustion engines with permanent magnet generator require an inverter to interface with electrical distribution system, These emerging technologies have lower emissions, potential to have lower cost negating traditional economies of scale. All applications include power support at substations, deferral of T D upgrades, onsite generating. Indiscriminant application of individual distributed generators can cause as many problems as it may solve. better way to realize emerging potential of distributed generation is to take system approach which views generation, associated loads as subsystem or microgrid . This approach allows for local control of distributed generation thereby reducing or eliminating need for central dispatch. During disturbances, generation, corresponding loads can separate from distribution system to isolate

Fuzzy Systems Essay Preface This article is written for an intended audience of undergraduate or graduate students, this article provides an introduction to, and an overview of what fuzzy systems are. Presented in this article is an acknowledgment of the contributions that fuzzy systems are making to the Artificial Intelligence discipline, as well as examples of fuzzy systems which are in use today. Abstract The concept and implementation of fuzzy systems is part of the natural course of evolution for humans who are a part of a society where access to information is plentiful but efficient utilization of massive amounts of information is power. To get at the information, we need systems which can understand what we need, rather than for us to understand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The origin of fuzzy systems can be traced to the first introduction of formal logic by Aristotle. Logic introduced by Aristotle was considered to be bilevel logic of either true or false, and is acknowledged to be the foundation of most of the growth of the sciences which are known today.[1] However, it was Plato who is accredited with laying the actual foundations for fuzzy logic when he proposed that there exists a third area beyond true and false where things were not always true or always false.[3] Digital computers in use today are based upon the ideas of Aristotle, where a single bit of information found in a computer is considered either true or false, that the transistor gate is either turned on or off. Many fundamental aspects of society today are based upon concepts of right or wrong, innocent or guilty, a member of a group or not a member of some group. The human race has toyed with and enjoyed the concept of a perfect society, where everything was easily classified into good or bad, right or wrong, true or false and has created computers to respond to that type of idealistic and simplistic world. This philosophy has served the human race well as computers were created to operate in very predictable ways that were

Father son relationships can take two paths, one where the sondoes everything the father hates and the others were the son does everything the father does. Fathers play a major role in their son s life with examples of the relationship found throughout the novel Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe in the characters of Okonkwo, Nwoye and Unoka. For better or worse Unoka played a major role in Okonkwo s life. It was fear of himself, lest he should be found to resemble his father. (Achebe 13). Throughout the entirety of Okonkwo s life, his relationship with his father would affect his decisions which were always based on the question, Would my father do this? , and if he would he would do the opposite. Okonkwo viewed his father as a failure and did not want to even be seen as being related to him. In one myth, a girl named Iphigenia is sacrificed to gain better results for the Trojan army. She is sacrificed on a public altar and even her father is willing to sacrificeher to benefit his soldiers. In The Sacrifice of Iphigenia, Giovanni Battista Tiepolo shows that as long as nothing happens to them, people do not care what happens to others, while Iphigenia by Alfred Lord Tennyson shows that death is a hard, terrible, and painful event. The Sacrifice of Iphigenia has a tone of misfortune. Iphigenia is best known as the daughter of Agamemnon who is the leader of Troy s Greek forces. Agamemnon aggravated Artemis, the god of the hunt, by boasting about his hunting skills. Agamemnon also kills one of Artemis sacred hares. Although the story is titled Angela s Ashes for me the focal character was Frankie (Francis) McCourt. His complex and tumultuous life drove the story from beginning to end and although his mother Angela was very important she was part and parcel of the bigger picture that was Frankie McCourt s life story (Parker, 1999). For me the story resonates the resilience of young people and their ability and inability to work their way through life. The amount of sadness, instability and constant impoverishment would have broken most, but Frankie in his role as eldest brother and son always seemed to find a way to cope and move forward. Both Cultural and Western theorists would have had a field day with the reality of Frankie s life, but in looking at the ideas of two specific theorists to endeavour to make sense of his journey I chose cultural theorist Mason Durie and western theorist Albert Bandura. Mason Durie s Te Whare Tapa Wha model looks at the individual as a whole piece that needs four parts to function; taha wairua (spiritual), taha hinegaro (mental), taha tinana (physical), taha whanau (family) (Durie, 1998). Additionally, the article explains how the people in these times believed that failure was a cause of a lack of ambition. She presents this idea by quoting another author, Scott Sandage, who wrote the novel, Born Losers: A History of Failure in America. Beowulf, like other epic heroes, possesses the following heroic qualities: epic heroes are superhuman types of beings. They have a noble birth and show great bravery. They display great intelligence and resourcefulness. They have a reverence for G d and for the values of their society. They are dominant male figures and suffer severe pain, but in the end, they conquer evil (Vivone 9/27/99). In addition to Beowulfs heroic qualities, he is very strong. Hrothgar s men finally think that they no longer will be plagued with the presence of the monster and that now they can sleep in peace. However, their sleep did not last long. During the night, Grendel s mother came to avenge her son s death. She enters the hall and grabs Aeschere and her son s arm. Beowulf goes to follow her and swims for an entire day in her pool before he sees the bottom of the mere. When Beowulf descends into Grendel s mere, he loses ground as the fight progresses. It is then assumed that Beowulf is fighting desperately for his life. Then, the water closed over him. It was the space of a day, before he could see the bottom of the mere (Burlin 121). The hero s physical powers grow far beyond human dimensions. Beowulf is about to attempt to use a weapon although they were useless against her; then he saw, hanging on the wall, a heavy sword...but so massive that no ordinary man could life its carved and decorated length (72). Ray Barnes 05/05/2015 Thesis Unemployment has been on the rise in the United States in recent years. One of the large contributing factors of this is the change in the structure of the country s economy. Many jobs, particularly manufacturing and industrial type jobs are being outsourced to other countries. An increase in unemployment due to a change in the economy is structural unemployment. This paper will discuss how structure unemployment is causing harm to the United States economy. Background It is evident that the economy of the United States is changing. The world in which we used to see an economy of all American made products and American services is rapidly disappearing. Many American companies are outsourcing the jobs they have to offer to other countries. These are the very jobs that helped create our economy and help us thrive. James Moreland states The capitalist market in the United States makes it nearly impossible for any successful company to avoid the lure of cutting American industrial jobs and shipping the work abroad. Free trade agreements such as NAFTA and our membership in the WTO have caused the U.S. to be forced to compete with third world countries such as China and Mexico, where wages are often less than $4 an hour. (Moreland 2014) in his article The Outsourcing of American Jobs Hurts The Economy on Every Level . However, with

When I entered the building there was a tall guy who greeted me, he wore an outfit similar to a boys scout leader. He then asked me if it was my first time attending and I said yes. There was a couple coming through the door, so he greeted them both and then told us a little about the exhibit. He then instructed us on how to see all of the exhibit and gave us a map/brochure. Personally, I believe that this essay poses two arguments about the indolence of the Filipinos, Rizal, in the beginning of his essay alleged that Indios are indolent, but only in the sense of little love for work or lack of energy, and not indolence as in the context of laziness. With this belief, he even attributed to climate the indolence of the natives. However, as I read through the essay, there were lines which I believe presents the idea that the natives were not indolent. According to the line, certain unsubdued tribes have been cultivating beautiful fields and working energetically. In addition to that, it also points out the idea that in spite of the climate and the few needs that natives have during that time, since if we compare their needs with the needs of the modern times we have more needs and sometimes complicated wants than before, were not indolent. Anyone that stayed on this land for that period of time would become a citizen automatically. The land came from the railroads in an effort to dispose of substantial land holdings to settlers.
