A brief review of Marine Isotope stages
Introduction
The creation of marine isotope stages we know today was a carminative effort between several
scientists and research institutions across decades. It first started with Cesare Emiliani who
transferred to the University of Miami s Institute of Marine Science in 1957. Emiliani had been
investigating the cause and nature of Quaternary glaciations by examining foraminifera fossils
from the marine sedimentary record for the Pleistocene Age. Moving to the University of Miami
offered new opportunities for Emiliani to work with ongoing drilling projects and trained
individuals. Emiliani s work was heavily influenced by Harold Urey s 1947 work on ... Show more

Oxygen isotope ratios change in the ocean primarily due to precipitation and evaporation. When
water evaporates from the surface, lighter 16O is preferentially removed and turned into vapor
while the heavier 18O is preferentially left behind. With time, this causes the ocean to be 16O
depleted or 18O enriched. If the cloud precipitates out, the first isotopes to be released are the
heavier 18O while the 16O remain as vapor. It is important to note that complete precipitation or
evaporation results in no fractionation since all molecules of water are precipitated or evaporated
out. Rayleigh fractionation occurs as the water vapor moves poleward and begins precipitating
out the heavier isotopes until the vapor is progressively more enriched in light isotopes (Figure 1).
The lighter isotopes can then be stored as terrestrial ice. This mechanism explains how on long
timescales the oxygen isotope ratio can change when forming or collapsing large ice sheets.
Because the changes in the isotopic ratio are so small, delta notion was adopted with the use of an
international standard. The original standard, adopted in 1968 by the International Atomic Energy
Agency, was called Standard Mean Ocean Water (SMOW) but has been retired for the current
standard Vienna Standard Mean Ocean Water (VSMOW). The calculation for Оґ18O is defined as
follows: Оґ^18 O=[(гЂ–(_^18)O/(_^16)O

Summary Of The Legal Requirements And Guidance Relating To...
1. Analyse legal requirements and guidance relating to the safeguarding of children. Law and
guidance regulate the way you should work with children in your childcare setting to support and
encourage their well being and safeguard them from abuse and maltreatment. Legislation
provides a comprehensive instruction on what must be attained in respect to child protection and
safeguarding. Whereas Legal guidance is more precise and provides details on how the law
ought to be applied and fulfilled in early years settings and services. Laws and statutory
regulation are compulsory and should reinforce policies and procedures that are used in your
setting. Legal requirements Children Act 1989 Determines the duty of early year s practitioners to
identify and meet the separate and distinctive needs of children and to keep them safe. It initiated
the belief that the child ought to be at the centre of planning and that a child s well being and
safety are vital when judgements are made concerning them. This act also recognises the
accountabilities of parents in keeping their offspring safe. In this act there are two particular
segments that relate to the duty of local authority with concern to child protection, these are Section
17 States that services should be put into place to safeguard and promote the welfare of children
within the (local authority) area who are in need . Section 47 States that the local authority has a

Persuasive Essay On Clubfoot
Kristi Yamaguchi, the Jewel on Ice , is one of the best women ice skaters in the world (Donohue
49). She was good enough to place top five in two World Championships (33), good enough to
tour the country to perform (57), good enough to win two medals at nationals (30), good enough
to make it to the winter Olympics (48), and good enough to overcome a disability to be who she
is today (12). This disability is known as clubfoot, and with correction devices, it can be fixed
(Healthwise). There are many important details about clubfoot. Clubfoot, also known as talipes
equinovarus, is a birth defect, which mean it is there when the baby is born (Frey). Clubfoot
causes pain because it makes the foot turn sideways and inward (Weatherford 175). This disease
makes the affected foot look like a club, hence the name clubfoot (176). With clubfoot, the foot
turns toward the other foot, and those who are affected appear to walk on their heels ( Famous
People ). Imagine having to walk on a thin calf and having a high heel, which are both causes of
talipes equinovarus (Frey). Each year one in every 1,000 babies born in the United States will be
born with clubfoot. There are also 150,000 200,000 people in the world that are affected with
clubfoot each year (Blue Sky Hosts). The main symptom for clubfoot is pain, although clubfoot is
harmless in babies. There are many remedies for talipes equinovarus including corrective shoes,
wearing special braces at night, physical therapy, and possibly

Chymotrypsin Essay
Chymotrypsin mimics. D Souza along with other researchers were investigated the use of an
artificial chymotrypsin with the binding site of cyclodextrin with the catalytic site of an
imidazolyl group, a carboxylic acid and a hydroxyl acid. The synthetic chymotrypsin has a
reduced molecular weight and they believed that the real and artificial enzyme had the same
catalytic activity. The model enzyme as seen in figure 1 has a molecular weight of 1365 g mol 1
and is made up of 24 serine proteases. The active site is only known through X ray crystallography
and because of this knowledge surrounding the mechanism is limited. The crystallography data
shows the proposed mechanism involves three main molecules in the active site. These are serine
195, histidine 57 and aspartate 102. They believe the functional groups hold all importance in
relation to reaction. The functional groups are a hydroxyl group an imidazolyl group and the
carboxylate ion. Figure 1: Small mimic molecule of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the charge relay system was occurring the pH would be more consistent with that of the

which alters the pKa of the secondary hydroxyls allowing hydrolysis to occur. Breslow and Chung
back up the claims made by Zimmerman determining that the reaction must proceed via the
imidazole acting as a general base to deprotonate the cyclodextrin hydroxyl group. The claim that
the mimic model hydrolyses 2.5 equivalents of m (tert butyl) phenol continuously Zimmerman
claims that this is false as they monitored the release of m (tert butyl) phenol. Since the mimic

Using Fixed And Variable Costs Within The Report
Exhibit 2 contains both fixed and variable costs within the report. Other costs we must look at is
the opportunity of the purchased computer equipment, which has a value of roughly $25,500.
The leased computer equipment cannot be cancelled, thus we consider it a sunk cost and do not
take it into consideration. Next, we look at the purpose of creating PDS. The purpose was to
help deregulate PTC and rescind the push through of a rate increase. If they shut down PDS,
PTC would have to pay the market rate for their data needs, which will increase this cost by two
fold. Additional issues to take into consideration are the burdens of finding alternate use for the
space PDS is currently renting and the opportunity cost of wages being paid to the PDS
employees. Can we invest the wage pay somewhere else for a higher return? Asking these questions
demonstrates the value of looking at PDS in depth to determine if more value exists than appears
within the initial reports.
Digging deeper, the first number we examine is how many computer hours PDS has to sell to
break even. We will assume the intercompany hours billed at $400 will average 205 per month.
The variable costs include power, parts of operation wages, and materials. Next, we calculate the
unit contribution (sales variable cost). The average cost for power is the total 3 month power cost
divided by the total time computers were used during this time (total revenue plus service hours) or
5028/1110 = $4.53. Operations cost

Short Story On Banana Boating
BANANA BOAT! The most wonderful thing to do in the water is to go banana boating. The rush
of the wind and water is worth all the times you were scared to mount the inflatable in the first
place. That is, until you get off the boat. Then you realize that those things in the water is why, it is
why you didn t do this yourself.
Come on Rori! You chicken or what?
I am not chicken, I will tell you that. But I was scared. Scared of the water activities. I was at
Camp Silver Beach. My cabin was strolling into the bay. My friend Hannah Banana had plans for
me and her. She planned for me to go on the banana boat with her. I heard stories of the legendary
banana boats. Some didn t end well. As soon as I was about to decline Banana pushed me into
the line. I decided to go with it. We walked out to the boats and mounted them slowly. The boat
drivers in the front were telling us about hand signals and how to go faster. They started slow. I
was the first one who put my hand up to go faster.
...
It was the second day of my boating quest. Me and Banana went again. It was the same as last
time. We went faster and faster, wind in my face and water on my feet. Everything was perfect. It
felt like a dream. As soon as the boat stopped though, I regretted every second of it.
OW! No! Help, stop it!
Banana needed help. She ran away from the spot of danger quickly and not so gracefully.
Are you ok? I could of called our cabin counselor for help!
Banana quickly declined the help. She obviously had a high pain tolerance. On the other hand, a
small touch would make me cry for help.
...
Banana looked scared of the water. She wanted out quickly. I decided to jump out and help her
walk back to the sandy shore.
You don t need to help me! Come off on the other side of the boat!
Nonsense Banana! This is the fastest way to help you
I m a moron aren t I! I stepped into the water and felt a tickle on my legs. The tickle was a twisted
touch. It soon turned onto a sting that burned my legs to a crisp.
Oh my god. OUCH! Help! SUGER HONEY ICED TEA THAT HURTS!
I told yo OW! So...
Our cabin counselor ran over. She told us that she would walk us back. Thank god she could see the
stinging anomaly that swam through the waters.

The Disconnection Between Aurora And Felicia
The character most important to me is Felicia, Aurora s mom, because she is like the earth that
tries to convince Aurora that Echo Park is part of her life, because it s their home. In chapter 2,
the disconnection between Aurora and Felicia originates with the death of Alma. Alma dies,
when it was supposed to be Aurora the one that should have died. The only thing that saved her
was not following Felicia s orders, so she moved and didn t receive the bullet that killed Alma.
After this event, Aurora starts to not follow her mom s orders and ends up leaving Echo Park,
their home, and her mom. She decides that she doesn t want to live her entire life in Echo Park;
she wants something more so she leaves in the search of it. Unlike Aurora, Felicia... Show more

In chapter 8, the connection that is developed between her and Aurora shows that Aurora could
come back to Echo Park. Felicia s decision of giving her dog, Blackjack, to Aurora and making
her accept that it is her dog now, represents her accepting that Echo Park is her home. Through
this act, Felicia s intentions of making Aurora realize that Echo Park is part of her identity and
her home is proven. Therefore, when the dog escapes and gets lost, she sends Aurora to find it
as if she sends her to realize that Echo Park is her home. Through her journey of finding the dog,
Aurora finds herself learning what Echo Park has become from what she remembers. This shows
that Felicia is the earth because she never left Echo Park and she wanted her daughter to not leave
it either. She wanted Aurora to not forget where her real home is, which identifies her and makes
her part of Echo Park too. I think Felicia s character is important to the novel and the realization of
Aurora towards Echo Park being her home. I believe we need to remember from where we come
and be proud of our roots because that is what identifies us and makes us unique. It is not wrong
to want to succeed in life like Aurora wanted to, but we also need to know and accept ourselves,
which includes our background and history. Our history is what identifies us and makes us stand

Implementation of the Chosen Strategy
Keeping in view the importance of group work I applied the strategy in my comprising of 16
students to teach them Conversion of Hexadecimal into Binary Number System and Conversion
of Binary Number System into Hexadecimal Number System . The objective of my lesson was
to make students know how to convert an Octal Number into Binary Number System on the
board and its practical implementation. To achieve these objectives I started my lesson with a
question answer session to revise their previous concepts. After the recap session I divided my
class into groups of 4 students each and said them to identify Hexadecimal and Binary digits.
Then through exposition I explained the current topic how to convert a hexadecimal number into
binary on the board. For more detail explanation I solved three related examples on the board
interactively. In these examples I involved students to help me in solving these examples. This
was their learning towards the application of current topics properties. Later I assigned the
conversion task to the groups. Each group did its work and it was the responsibility of the group
leader to make sure participation of each member of the group. The groups prepared their
presentation and to give everyone an equal chance presentation was divided into parts. I kept on
observing the groups and encourage the participation of reluctant students during discussion time.
Then every group got a five minutes time to

The Effect Of Shallow And Deep Levels Of Processing On...
Abstract
This was a study conducted at IUP on undergraduate students to see if processing information at
certain levels would improve memory recall. During the study, we presented the participants with a
PowerPoint of information on a made up country. The participants was randomly assigned to a
shallow, medium, or deep processing instruction, which explained to them how to take notes
throughout the presentation. After, students recieved a distractor task for 15 minutes, and after
given a multiple choice test on the information showed on the slides. The results showed that there
was no significant difference between note taking instructions and the number of correct answers.
All three task instructions in the study showed similar means on the recall test.
Effects of Shallow to Deep Levels of Processing on Memory Recall
Sources
Craik and Lockhart (1972) conducted a study where they first introduced the theory of depth of
processing, also known as levels on processing. They said that memory processing had levels
ranging from shallow to deep. They said that people processed words at a shallow, moderate or
deep level. Shallow processing, also known as structural encoding, is when physical features of the
information is analyzed. They found that information is usually forgotten because the processing
does not involve meaning, so it creates memory that is weak, resulting in information being harder
to retrieve. One way to define moderate processing, also known as

Lehman Case Study Writeup Essay
Organizational Power and Influence
Lehman Case Analysis
Lewis Glucksman who scrapped his way up through Lehman s unprestigious but increasingly
profitable stock and bond trading department, was able to take control of the firm after a bitter
power struggle against its former CEO, Peter Peterson. Glucksman was victorious in the end as he
proved himself to be an indispensible part of Lehman s operations.
During the times leading up to the power struggle, the power dynamic within Lehman was steadily
shifting as trading profits became increasingly more important to Lehman versus traditional
investment banking profits. Thus, Glucksman was able to step into the spot light and Peterson
became more expendable. Peter Peterson s core ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Historically this has always been a formula for disaster. Justifications for the duality were
unconvincing. Peterson was suppose to be the external client facing image of the company
whereas Glucksman was suppose to be the internal executioner of operations. The division of
duties may seem clear but it does not lead to a clear division of power. At the very top of a major
Wall Street company, power must be clearly defined and completely authoritative. If it is not, then
human nature and the nature of an organization will eventually find a way to define power. In this
case, power was defined through duties and internal duties won over external duties.
Also contributing to the outcome of the power struggle were structural features that existed across
the financial industry. The whole industry is governed and motivated by profits generated through
individual contribution irrespective of the firm s net performance. This particular industry structure
results in the classic inter departmental tensions to maximize the individual department s profits. To
a certain extent, Lehman had to comply with rest of the companies by creating the isolated
departmental structure to maintain its top performers. As a result, when a department creates 60
80% of the firm s profit, the power shifts to the department making the most money. Lehman could
have created an alternate compensation strategy to reduce the potential for power struggle between
the departments. For example, rather

What Is The Mood Of The Painting Paris 1900
History is continuous and an imprint of past presents mark landscapes. Remnants and different
layers of history intertwine, influence, and become a part of everyday life. The painting Paris
1900 is a streetview that captures an everyday scene with passersby. Even though the painting
provides a glimpse of one street in the city, the portrayal and presence of the people and objects is
significant within themselves as they portray the history of the city and how it has changed. The
painting Paris1900 illustrates the history of how the city physically changed throughout the
nineteenth century through the size of the street, the street light, and the type of people represented.

All the people are well dressed and bear the markings of the wealthier echelons of society. Perhaps
when the painter decided to capture the street such habitants of society just happened to be going
about their days. Or perhaps on this street, real or imagined, one would usually only find this type
of social class. However, either way in reality due to the public works reconstruction it would have
been more common for certain districts and neighborhoods to become more hegemonic looking and
distinct in relation to one another. Haussmann s simplifications caused more segregation of class
and function. Different parts of the city increasingly formed distinctive characters of dress,
function, and wealth. Another motive for the reconstruction was to break up some of the poor and
insurrectionary neighborhoods. Many were displaced and concentrated into a quarter on the
periphery of the city, which became a close community tied by common resentments and shared
experiences. This hegemony illustrates how class and function influence the physical evolution
certain parts of cities that perpetuate the differences and distinctive forms that are even present

Five Forces Analysis Video Gaming
Five Forces Analysis of the Video Game Industry The five forces that drive industry competition,
a model established by Michael Porter, are; threat of substitution, threat of new entrants,
bargaining power of suppliers, bargaining power of buyers, and intensity of rivalry. The video
game industry must deal with all five of these forces. The analysis of the strength of these five
forces within the video game industry will help to draw a conclusion as to whether or not it is an
attractive industry for Sony to be in. The threat of substitutes in the video game industry is
relatively low. Most customers are looking for a console that they can play games on and there
really isn t much else to choose from. One could say that computer... Show more content on

The main suppliers in the video game industry are the game makers. These companies pay a
royalty fee to the company that makes the console. Game makers have the decision to make
certain games exclusively for one console if they are paid enough money, for example Halo
made for the Xbox, or make them available on many different platforms. This threat is also
moderate for the game industry. The larger the variety of games as well as the better the quality
the more likely a customer is to buy one game console over another. The fourth force is that of
the bargaining power of the buyers. In the video game industry the buyers do not have very
much power, thus making this a weak threat. The buyers do not have much power because the
video game industry does not consist of many players. The lack in the customers choices means
that they are willing to pay a little more money to get such an item. The fifth and final force is
that of the intensity of rivalry. This is the strongest force in the video game industry. Nintendo
was very strategic in targeting an audience that Microsoft and Sony neglected. While Microsoft
and Sony focused on the typical gamers, males ages 18 34, Nintendo focused on a broader
audience everyone when creating their Wii. In the video game industry rivalry Microsoft and Sony
are battling for the same market, while Nintendo has much of its audience all to itself. This is why

The final section of the statement of cash flows is the financing section, which shows the
dividends paid, the purchases of stock, the net borrowings, and other possible cash flows from
financing activities. A positive trend for investors is the fact that dividends paid has increased
(even though it is negative to the firm) as well as sale purchase of stock, from 2009 to 2011 and
even increased quarterly in 2011. The net borrowings is off an on from 2009 to 2011 possibly
because of certain funds needed in particular years. In 2009, it was $5,746,000,000 and in 2010, it
was $190,000,000. It shot back up again in 2011, with $5,960,000,000. The three statements that
were provided in this section provide possible investors, competitors, and even those within the
company with useful information to make important decisions that could affect their livelihood or
the livelihood of Microsoft. Keep in mind that even though financial statements are a solid indicator
of how a company is performing, one key principle about must be known when viewing them to
make decisions. They do not always provide all of the information that you may need. There are
usually underlying topics that could affect the company that are not necessarily showing up on
their financial statements. These topics are discussed in other sections of this report on Microsoft.

It was key for ORC to sign Sony to a licensing agreement. Agreeing to Sony s terms was a
strategic move which not only solidified a revenue stream but also paved the way for other firms to
follow suit.
Upon signing Sony to a licensing agreement, Phillips Dupont seemed to follow suit primarily to
avoid costly litigation. Specifically, ORC managed to sign a licensing agreement with Phillips on
moderate terms that did not fully utilize the legal leverage of ORC. In other words, ORC was not
able to negotiate the license on their terms but more out of desperation of signing a licensing
agreement. Despite having the upper hand, ORC was unable to capitalize on their strong position.
During the Sony deliberations, ORC was experiencing financial troubles in Canada. The Canadian
government wished to immediately resend their tax credits which awarded ORC, as a research
firm, $6.5 million Canadian dollars. Adamson refused to pay the $6.5 million which was primarily
based on the fact that ORC could not afford to pay them. Nevertheless, the aforementioned decision
of the Canadian government was a potential threat to ORC, and could have resulted in a different
business development strategy employed by the company.
To capitalize on the recently successful licensing program, ORC turned their attention towards the
next largest manufacturer of CD media in the U.S. WEA Manufacturing (Subsidiary of Time
Warner). Initial talks to Time Warner

Porphyria is a Disease in which the Body does not Produce...
Porphyria is a disease dealing with an abnormality of the metabolic processes in the body. In
particular, there is an insufficiency of the body to process porphyrins which are a metal containing
pigment. However, porphyria is actually a group of diseases with the commonality of the
accumulation of porphyrins or porphyrin precursors. Porphyriais derived from the Greek word
porphyrous meaning reddish purple. Urine from patients display a reddish purple hue due to the
presence of excess amounts of porphyrins. This is a rare disease with the most common type
porphyria cutanae tarda (PCT) statistically to occur one in ten thousand individuals. Porphyria
disease is generally inherited genetically, but some environmental factors can enhance or trigger
porphyria symptoms.
All diseases grouped under porphyria are disorders of heme biosynthesis, the deficiency of one of
the enzymes which are necessary for the production of heme. Heme includes hemoglobin,
myoglobin, cytochromes, and other heme containing proteins. These are found in all organs within
the body, and they are most active in the liver and bone marrow. Due to this enzyme deficiency, the
result is the accumulation of certain pathway intermediaries. Porphyria diseases can be categorized
based on where the primary site of overproduction occurs. If the accumulation of porphyrins occurs
in the liver then this is considered to be hepatic, and if the accumulation occurs in bone marrow
then it is categorized as erythropoietic.

The Great Rift Valley Of Kenya And Tanzania
Their highly energetic and athletic style of dancing, tall stature as well as their signature bright red
clothing are just some of the unique things that define the Maasai. For many centuries, this
indigenous tribe who lives in the vast open spaces of Africa s Great Rift Valley found in the
countries of Kenya and Tanzania, believes that God entrusted them with the cattle. Their lifestyle
reflects the natural environment in which they live in as well as the rich ritual and traditions that
they have managed to preserve today. The Maasaipeople have a reputation of being brave,
responsible and fierce. Their community has its own way of hierarchal organization where the
elder men and warriors are at the top and the women and children are at the bottom. The core
image Maasai people hold with respect to themselves is that of itunga ana loo ngishu which means
people of cattle or entelapu meaning those who are under cattle (Galaty 4). Most of the rituals and
values of the Maasai people depend on their age and the relationship of the tribe is based on a strict
set of rules. The Maasai s patriarchal society, traditional rituals, and unique food system have made
them unique among the other African Pastoralists.
As I have previously mentioned, men are more dominant than women in the Maasai society. Maasai
men are supposed to protect their homes, maintain water sources, and protect their livestock (

Antisocial Personality Disorder ( Adhd )
Antisocial Personality Disorder
Kevin Adams
Medgar Ever College Antisocial Personality Disorder is often wrongly called sociopathy or
psychopathy although both sociopathy and psychopathy are not recognized professional labels
for the diagnosis. Antisocial may not be the best way to describe the disorder because it implies
shyness and people who suffer from the disorder tend to be more outgoing, charming and
pragmatic. The term came about because the disorder is anti society. It s behavior that s directed
against society. (Black, 2013) To my surprise ASPD is actually quite common, being as common

Decline in Water Supply in India
Introduction
The available water in India has declined drastically over the past several decades due to the rise
in demand for water sources across almost every industry. This shortage has greatly affected all
activity in India, including the agricultural industry and the available drinking water for domestic
life. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, or the FOA, believes that India
will literally run out of water if certain steps are not taken to replenish India s aquifers. To fully
grasp the matter, an explanation of the problem is below.
The main cause for concern is that India s flourishing agricultural industry uses the 91% of water
throughout the country leaving aquifers at lower levels every year. ... Show more content on

This type of depletion has experts exhausting resources to halt the progression of groundwater
extraction and to move to better innovations of irrigation enforcement.
Lack of Social Economic Stability from Overuse The overuse of water has raised concerns across
India and in some cases farmers have taken their lives from the poverty caused by the lack of
necessary water for their crops to prosper. (http://www.sigmaxi.org/programs/issues

Fluorosis Epidemic in India Fluoride is a geologic material that lies underneath most of India. As
water tables decrease, farmers are forced to drill deeper into aquifers to unsafe zones containing
dangerous levels of fluoride. In India, the Fluorosis and Rural Development Foundation have
estimated that over 60 million people suffer from diseases caused by the overexposure of fluoride
in drinking water from underground aquifers.
Split in Surface Groundwater Hydrologic Connections With the continued overuse of aquifers,
sigmaxi.com states that In the Maheshwaram watershed of Andhra Pradesh chronic depletion of
groundwater has lowered the water table 15 m below the ground surface . This causes the streams
and springs once fed by groundwater to disappear. Basically, natural tanks that once held water
have no way to collect water anymore because the pathways

Reflection About Group Presentations
We all certainly have to do group presentations during our student life. This method of study is
vital, as it is a successful alternative or addition to the traditional term paper. It can balance the
student s educational experiences by providing training in oral communication, interpersonal skills,
and analytical thinking. (King 1990, p.77). Therefore, it is necessary for us to reflect on what we
have done and learnt through grouppresentations. In this essay, I would have a look back at what I
experienced and learnt from the BCM110 group assignment.
Our assignment was to work together and do research on a media issue that we studied in the
lectures. After four weeks, we had to give a class presentation on what we had researched. Our ...

However, our main issue is Groupthink . Groupthink is defined as the pressure to conform
within a group interfering with objective analysis of a problem and causes poor group decision
making. (Dwyer 2013, p.221). There was lack of discussion regarding new ideas in our team. No
contradictions were often made, and we always reached agreement very quickly because we all
seemed want to avoid conflict. For instance, when a member said Powerpoint was simple and time
saving than other presentation methods, we all quickly agreed to choose Powerpoint without no
further arguments. As a result, our presentation seemed quite boring compared with other groups
who created a play. To avoid Groupthink , we can apply the brainstoriming strategy to encourage
creativity and diversity of ideas. We should write up all the ideas and generate possible solutions,
eliminate duplicate ideas to find the most effective solutions.
Regarding my individual performance, I was a responsible member and always actively listened
to other members ideas to give constructive feedback. I focused on what other members said and
encourage them to express their viewpoint. For example, when we discussed on fandoms, I
wanted to talk about Monsters the fanclub of Lady Gaga while Teskana preferred the example of
One Direction. However, I listened to the reasons Tes gave, and finally agreed that One Direction

GOVERNMENT PARASTATALS In all these developments, there is the underlying assumption
that globalization is good for all and that its benefits are shared out (even if not equally) all over the
world. The more developed countries benefit while the least developed countries tend to remain
impoverished and do not share in the benefits. The combined effect of the global fluidity of finance
capital, the growth of foreign direct investment, and the emergence of global corporations have
greatly undermined the economic and political sovereignty of states especially the poor ones. It
must be emphasized that the so called globalized world is riddled with imperfections. Information

The Mental Health Treatment Of Australia
In the Mental Health treatment we can distinguish two different approaches to patient treatment,
this is known as models of treatment, firstly we have a medical model, and secondary we a using
person recovery model.
To understanding of recovery in Australia, we have to acknowledge that is heavily influenced by
recovery research and literature from the USA, Canada and New Zealand
It is suggested that the term recovery has been adopted in Australia from the late 1980s (Lakeman,
2004, p.212; McGrath et al., 2007). It has become popular in mental health discourse and influences
policy directives and service delivery initiatives (Meehan et al., 2007; Rickwood, 2004; Slade et al.,
2008).
Medical model in the mental health mostly concentrates on the treatment of the physiological
aspect of illness, this model is used at the inpatients admissions, by psychiatrist overall in the
clinical /medical settings.
There are many definitions of term Medical Model many of them suggested that it is a
scientifically proven process, concentrates on the treatment of the symptoms, is not client centred,
and medical professionals are in charge of making and presiding with consumer treatment plan ,
some professionals also describe the medical model as the Western approach to illness.
When we talking about mental health recovery we will take under consideration not only medical
model but also the effect of psychotherapy, and person centred model of recovery.

Essay on A South Korean Company that Operates in China
A South Korean Company that Operates in China
This report address s the requirements at hand to select a South Korean company that has
operations in China
Executive Summary:
In 1992, Samsung Electronics adopted the form of a wholly owned subsidiary as the entry mode
into China. It s entry into China was in order to maintain growth due to the tough competition in
Korea. China was selected in order to take advantage of its low wages for the mass production of
low to medium priced products. The initial manufacturing ground was at Tianjin due to its costal
location hence making it easy to export abroad and to major locations in China. The original focus
of producing low cost products resulted in a cheap image of Samsung in ... Show more content on

After a decade of rapid economic growth, in 1997 many South East Asian countries were subject to
a catastrophic economic crisis. The problems endured involved both immediate crisis management
in unstable financial markets and the medium term restructuring and repositioning of their
economies in the face of intensified export competition.
South Korea had a large current account deficit and the maintenance of pegged exchange rates
encouraged external borrowing and led to excessive exposure to foreign exchange risk in both the
financial and corporate sectors. Economists have advanced the impact of Mainland
China on the real economy as a contributing factor to the crisis.
China had begun to compete effectively with other Asian exporters particularly in the 1990s after
the implementation of a number of export oriented reforms. Western importers sought cheaper
manufacturers and found them, indeed, in China whose currency was depreciated relative to the
dollar. The report will address the corporate re alignment by Samsung in order to ride out the
economic filtering of the region in which it was operating.

Hlt 362 Exercise 36 Essay
Exercise 36
1. The researchers found a significant difference between the two groups (control and treatment)
for change in mobility of the women with osteoarthritis (OA) over 12 weeks with the results of
F(1, 22) = 9.619, p = 0.005. Discuss each aspect of these results.
The F value is high enough at the 5% level of significance to suggest a significant difference
between the control and treatment groups. The p value 0.005 lt; 0.05 hence this suggests a rejection
of the null hypothesis, meaning that the control and treatment groups are found to be different.
2. State the null hypothesis for the Baird and Sands (2004) study that focuses on the effect of the

6. Can ANOVA be used to test proposed relationships or predicted correlations between variables in
a single group? Provide a rationale for your answer.
Yes this is one of the main functions of the ANOVA to say whether or not there exists a
relationship or correlation between groups. Normally, if the p value is less than the significance
level there is a difference between the groups, and if the p value is larger than the significance
level there is no difference between the groups.
7. If a study had a result of F(2, 147) = 4.56, p = 0.003, how many groups were in the study, and
what was the sample size?
If K = number of groups in the study, and df = K 1 then K = df+1 = 2+1 = 3. So there are 3 groups
in the study. There are N K number of participants so N = K+147 = 3+147 = 150 participants.
8. The researchers state that the sample for their study was 28 women with a diagnosis of OA, and
that 18 were randomly assigned to the intervention group and 10 were randomly assigned to the
control group. Discuss the study strengths and/or weaknesses in this statement.
In my opinion, I would like to see a larger sample size. But I agree with the choice to put more
participants into the intervention group rather than the control group. That is because I would be
more interested in the results from the intervention group so a larger sample is appropriate, but
there is still enough in the control group to play

Analysis Of Pico Iyer s Where Worlds Collide
How much do people believe parents or others around them influence their viewpoints on the things
around them? How much do others influence their culture and traditions? I believe people only
sometimes affect another s viewpoints. For some people, they are similar to their parents, but not
always. That s why I can infer that the people around others can only sometimes influence their
viewpoints on certain aspects of life. I enjoy similar things compared to my family, but I also love
various things as well. So, before anyone feels like somebody is influencing their viewpoint on life
and culture, they need to realize that their views are only sometimes persuaded by other people.

In the first paragraph, I wrote about how the immigrants see America compared to their homeland.
Personally, I believe it is the same with parents and their children. I think somebody s parents are
only able to sometimes influence the way they see the people around them and the world around
them because they can have different views than their parents. In the letter, An Indian Father s Plea
by Robert Lake, Wind Wolf s father tries to explain that his child is different because of his
different cultures and traditions. The reason he wants to explain this is because he learns that his
child is suffering racism in his kindergarten class. When his son went to his friend s house, his
mother made a racial comment. It is ok if you play with him at school, but we don t allow those
kind of people in our house, she stated (p98). This made Wind Wolf question whether or not he
wants to go to school or even follow his own religion. People in his class even made fun of him
because of his hair, but in his situation, long hair is a sign of strength and masculinity. That quote
proves that his child is suffering from racism for being different. I have personally never suffered
from racism, but my god brother has told me he has suffered from it before. In conclusion,
Somebody s parents can only sometimes influence your ways of seeing the world around you.

I have found that has kept me grounded and staying on course is fashion design and retail. I am
able to express myself through this medium and eventually I plan on becoming a fashionretail buyer
myself. Also, I want to be involved in promoting campaigns and advertisements for the newest
trends. One of the many highlights of this job is being able to travel to different states and even
countries to attend trade fairs as well as visit certain suppliers. As a retail buyer, the buyer is
responsible for selecting products up to date with trends and to sell them in retail shops. To become
a fashion buyer one must attain a 2 4 year college degree. Along with this, when attending college a
student should major in either business, marketing, or merchandising. Although internships are not
required, except for certain particular business classes or programs, interning could possibly benefit
someone to achieve the highest potential in their job. While training a person needs to learn the
knowledge of fashion, retail, and economics. I would imagine that one must have first hand

The concept of access to justice embodies the formal conception on one side, and substantive
conception on the other. The formal conception of access to justice is considered to indicate
abilities of people to have access to courts of law and other tribunals in a reasonable and effective

to justicein this way embraces the concept of the equality before the law which is the foundation of

living in poverty from utilizing the legal system in the form of three waves . The first wave
entailed the emergence of legal aid in the developed countries in the period after the Second

Fiscal Austerity Debate
Fiscal Austerity Debate September 26, 2012 Fiscal Austerity Debate Recently, the Spanish
government s new bundle of tax increases and expenditure cuts pitches an attention on a
progressively argumentative discussion about whether fiscal austerity in Europe is further
damaging the patient s health rather than leading to retrieval (Terry, 2009). Even though this
might sound a little boring, the word fiscal austerity has really turned out to be a topic that has
been getting hotter by the minute. This has been a subject of debate that is among experts and
political economists in current weeks, andГ‚ I for one believe that it is a much needed discussion.
Many are unaware how important this debate has become, and that it is well worth the discussion.
First, it invites everyone to take a good look that goes way beyond the mindless dramatics of this
year s campaigning and enacting, and instead to really start to examine a question that has become
far more pertinent to our long term safety, wealth and happiness, specifically: What is the right
procedure, size, and possibility of government? What is administration s nature and what should it
be doing, or possibly more fatefully,Г‚ what it is doing? Second, the discussion certainly asks how
we should be trying to finance the government we have, and whether its expenditure, taxing, using,
and money production are ethical or not, and realistic or not. Persons should pay consideration to
this discussion, as its consequence will

Descriptive Essay About Mya
Mya and I always had this sort of tradition when the first of October settled upon us. Ever since
freshman year of high school, we placed it upon ourselves to find a restaurant of cafГ© of some
sort here in Haynes and enjoy a cup of hot cocoa. The air by that time was generally beginning to
feel frigid, and to the two of us, that meant it was about time we break out the savory drinks,
mini marshmallows, and of course, the sweet and frothy whipped cream. Thus, this year, we
met at the Cabin, a small restaurant which sat on the border of Haynes and the Foxborough
Woods. Large windows replaced the western wall of the quaint restaurant so the patrons of the
Cabin may watch the Autumn trees and their leaves sway back and forth in the gentle breeze of
this mid afternoon. I ran my finger along the rim of the porcelain cup which sat in front of me,
half empty of the chocolate beverage and completely drained of what whipped cream that had
arrived with it. Compared to some of the other hot cocoa s Mya and I had tasted over the
previous years, this one was rather a letdown. Between its more watered down taste and the lack
of marshmallows, I was sorely disappointed. Nonetheless, hot cocoa was hot cocoa, so I
continued to sip away as did my friend. I watched as Mya sat upright in her chair and ran her
fingers, whose nails were glossed over with a vibrant pink, through her blonde, bobbed hair. That
was the signal that she was interested in starting a conversation, but if I knew one

Gender Socialization In Western Culture
Even before a child is born, we have already labeled that child as either a boy or a girl. Then as
they grow up we subject them to gender socialization, which is the process in which cultures
communicate their expectations about gender to the child (Arnett, 135). I grew up in a small town;
however, it was not like the stereotypical, very conservative, small town that is often portrayed in
movies. My experience in Western culture, which is immensely different than that of other cultures,
is that gendersocialization was prevalent during childhood, but became more relaxed during
adolescents and emerging adulthood. From as far back as I can remember, differential gender
socialization took place during childhood. Parents taught their children that objects such as dolls
and dresses were for girls, while objects like trucks and guns were meant for boys. I remember one
time that my femalecousin came over to visit and we decided that we want to partake in a battle
similar to one the boys conducted when they played. We ended up whipping Legos at each
other, which in hindsight was a very dangerous and painful idea, because the Nerf guns were my
brothers and girls were not allowed to touch them. These differential gender socializations could
continue to be seen in preschool and early grade school years. When allowed free time to play in
preschool, girls played with the kitchen set while boys often played with cars or blocks. If a child

Welfare Causes Poverty in America Essay
There seems to be an increase in poverty in the United States and there are so many theories
behind why this might be a problem. It seems as if Society as a whole wants to blame this social
condition on Society itself. I believe that the problem of poverty lies within the actual individuals
that are experiencing poverty. There are a few reasons why people experience poverty. They are

It seems as if they were unable to say no to the provided or shall I say free support and unable to
say yes to the ability to gain and be able to support their selves. It was so much easier to have
someone to do it for them. Not only did they lack integrity but they lacked the power and
confidence needed to make it on their own. These individuals knew that the government has
been and will continue to support them so they became even lazier. These individuals became
lazy and began to involve themselves with only individuals of the sort, which developed into
anti social behavior. Once the anti social behavior sets in we can t train these individuals to
assimilate into society, we can t train these people to be like you and me. We can t train these
people to be normal. I classify normal as someone who is willing to support or at least try to
support themselves on a regular basis. If I can work to support me, my family and you why can t
you work to support you , this includes your family also. Children are indeed a product of their
environment.
Being a product of your environment can be a good thing or it can be a bad thing depending on
your environment. In the eyes of poverty I do believe that it is a bad thing because poverty seems
to be passed on from generation to generation. You can t expect the next generation to be any better

Essay On Strong Interest Inventory
Everyone has their own interests and values that they would like to pursue and continue to
follow throughout their life. Although many people share common characteristics in interests,
we are all our own different individuals which can be demonstrated in our personality and
choices. The Strong Interest Inventory, SII, depicts these difference by assigning individuals a
code based on the decisions made on the test. The code assigned to me was AIS, which means
that my top three themes were artistic, investigative and social, in that order. In all honesty, I
was not surprised by my results because they were almost identical to the code I received when I
took the Kuder assessment back in UNI 150. Back then I got a tie between my social and art, but
still had investigative so I had a code of S/AI. I think the code of AIS describes me well due to
my love of the arts really taking a big part of me personally, along with my strong level of
knowledge in math and science. Although I am not the most social individual, I do enjoy working
with people, even with my introvertness. Overall, this code encompasses me perfectly and for me
to get it twice in a row says that my interests and values are consistent.... Show more content on

In my SII, my top three occupations are graphic designer, occupational therapist and speech
pathologist. For the most part, both assessments reflected my strong interest in the artistic and
social aspect of things as reflected with the careers of teachers, graphic designers, therapists and
pathologists. All these suggested careers correlate quite accurately with my AIS code, which is to
no surprise because all these careers are some I considered before, with the exception of speech

Dropping the Mic (A Remembered Event)
Weddings are a powerfully special time, and in the lead up to the pronouncement by the minister of
the unbreakable binds of the newly married couple, and their presentation to the congregation there
are many twists and turns where the parents of the new couple must appears with an abundance of

Seventeen years later, all of my older children were lined up at the front of the church, with the
minister in the middle, along with the siblings of their soon to be husbands. My oldest daughters
wanted to get married at the same time, and no amount of fatherly persuasion could convince them
otherwise, so I walked both of them down the aisle at the same time, one on the right arm, and the
other on the left. My younger children carried and threw flower petals, or carried the rings, and
other ceremonial portions of the service.
More than anything, I was simply praying that my daughters would be serious enough not to pull
any pranks during the service, or for one of them to catch fire during the service as one of the men
of honor had done the night of dress rehearsals when he backed into a lit candle and his mullet
ignited.
Our minister knew these two girls, plus their 12 other biological siblings, and the half dozen other
adopted children my wife and I raised, and at times buried. The minister who performed their
dedication in infancy was also the same one who was about to perform the marriage, and he knew
my kids penchant for creative mischief, but all of them had sworn to be on their best behavior and
all of them of course promised that there would be no pranks at their own weddings.
The two oldest had a track record, a very long and hard to explain track record, but they were

A Nation s Economic Success And International...
A nation s economic success and international competitiveness depends upon the policies it set.
These policies are dependent on a variety of factors such as foreign direct investment and trade.
According to Phillips et al (2006), the global financial platform has been showing transitional
change over the last two decades in which foreign aid as a source of capital flow is drying up.
Markusen and Venables (1998) explained that financial institutions like the IMF and the World
Bank on their own are feeling the strains of meeting the financial demands of especially developing
countries. In this respect, economic policy makers in governments of both developing and
developed economies take great strides in attracting capital inflows... Show more content on

FDI plays in the economic growth process of the host country. A good number of the studies and
discussions show that there exists a strong correlation between FDI and economic progression. In
addition to being an engine for diffusion of knowledge and transfer of technology, FDI also
stimulates international trade, domestic investment, expands host nation s domestic savings, and
increases the host country s foreign exchange reserves adjusting its Balance of Payment post. These
factors increase the economic growth of the host nation. Exports are also regarded as a means of
economic growth. They facilitate production of goods and services efficiently by exploiting and
attaining a competitive advantage over other nations. The success stories of East and South East
Asian countries such as Singapore and Malaysia suggest that foreign direct investment is a
powerful tool to promote export for the host country. Grossman and Helpman (1993) explain that a
number of investigations confirm that FDI through MNCs (multi national corporations) offer
greater merit over local companies in regard to export performance. These MNCs bring intangible
assets such as technology, brand names, and skills, globally proven strategies in marketing,
advertising strategies, and international

In Louise Erdrich s novel, The Beet Queen, past events affected each character differently. Mary
Adare is affected in both positive and negative ways. When Adelaide, Mary s mother, abandoned
Mary, Karl, and their baby brother, Mary became very stubborn. However she also assumed
responsibility over her two brothers. Her strong will became a negative trait for her. This is shown
in the novel right after Adelaide leaves. Mary s baby brother begins to cry because he is hungry.
Several new mothers offer to take Mary s brother to feed him, but Mary refuses to give her brother
to them. However, her assumed role of caretaker forces her to realize that the baby will starve if she
does not find a way to feed him soon. This leads her to make a very difficult

Herbert Hoover s Influence On The New Deal
The presidency of Herbert Hoover was ended in 1933 and was succeeded by President Franklin D.
Roosevelt who was much more active and radical. President Roosevelt was the governor of New
York before he was elected as a president where he introduced some radical programs to relieve
New York citizens from the Great Depression. During his presidency, he enlarges his radical
scheme in the whole nation and stabilizes the economy of the nation. He calls his radical scheme
the New Dealthrough which he addresses the three weak economic waves; agriculture, banking, and
unemployment.
President Roosevelt took immediate action to address the country s economic woes, first
announcing a four day bank holiday during which all banks would close so that Congress could
pass reform legislation and reopen those banks determined to be sound. He began addressing the
general public by giving speeches in radio, and these fireside chat went a long way towards
restoring public confidence. The establishment of FDIC in 1933 insured the bank money and

understanding the history of women s rights and feminist theory and my eyes were opened very
quickly to the problems and issues that the field has had to learn to overcome. For example, the

opposed to the rights of all women and oppressed groups. The women s rights movement was

A Linguistic Term For Indo European And Indian History
ARYANS
Aryan is a linguistic term for Indo European (Robert Westad 2014a). The Aryans brought to India
no culture so advanced as that of Harappans (Robert Westad 2014a). When the Aryans appear
writing disappeared and does not come back until the middle of the first millennium BCE. Cities
were reinvented by the Aryans, which lack the elaboration and order of the gridded pattern of
Harappans (Robert Westad 2014a). When the Aryans migrated into the Indus Valley they brought
with them a culture that was very different from any other region (Breyer 2004). The invaders had
two contributions to Indian history; it s formal history and its social institutions (Robert Westad
2014a). One of the biggest social institutions that the Aryans brought to India was the unique social
structure; in their system every class had a duty to their society (Breyer 2004). Originally there
were only three main classes or Varnas, but this changed to fit the civilisation in which they
controlled (Breyer 2004). As religion and rituals were a major part of Indian life, it was only
fitting that the priests and scholars were the highest class (Beyer 2004). They were called the
Brahmans (Breyer 2004). Under the Brahmans were the ruling class or the Kshatriyas; this also
included nobles and warriors (Breyer 2004). The third class was made up of the commoners they
were called the Vaisyas. It was the fourth class that the servants and peasants made up, called
Sudras. It was later on where another

Essay about Hallucinogen
Hallucinogen
While many drugs speed up or depress the central nervous system, there is a class of drugs that
distorts how we feel, hear, see, smell, taste, and think.
Called hallucinogens because users often hallucinate, or experience nonexistent sensations, these
drugs are also known as psychedelic, or mind bending, drugs.
Some hallucinogens come from natural sources; others are made in laboratories.
Examples of natural hallucinogens are mescaline, psilocybin, DMT, and marijuana.
Mescaline, which has been used by American Indians in religious ceremonies, comes from the
peyote cactus. Psilocybin, also used by the Indians and believed to have supernatural powers, is

The effects of hallucinogens on the body are unpredictable. They depend on the amount taken and
the user s personality, mood, expectations, and surroundings. Although hallucinogens do not
produce a physical addiction, users do develop a tolerance, so that increasing amounts must be
taken to achieve the same effect. Psychological dependence on hallucinogens is well documented.
It appears that each drug carries its own risks. For example, unlike hallucinogens such as LSD and
synthetics such as DOM that consist of a single chemical, marijuana has been found to contain more
than 400 separate substances.
These substances are in turn broken down in the body into a great many more chemicals, and the
effects of these chemicals on the user are poorly understood.
It has been found, however, that the most potent of these chemicals are attracted to and accumulate
in fatty tissues, including the brain and reproductive organs.
Studies indicate that frequent marijuana users may experience impaired short term memory and
learning ability and reproductive problems. Other studies suggest that frequent or chronic marijuana
use may contribute to damage of the immune system, increased strain on the heart, delayed puberty,
and chromosome damage. The most pronounced psychological effects induced by hallucinogens
are a heightened awareness of colors and patterns together with a slowed perception of time and a
distorted body image. Sensations may seem to quot;cross over, quot; giving

If no CSR is available, the caller waits as the call is placed in a queue for the next available CSR on
a first come, first serve basis.
* Single Phase
Although 6 call types are mentioned in the case, there is no specific sequence for answering those
questions and customers may ask only one type of question. Therefore it is single service.
Formula:
5. What is the expected number of people waiting in the queue?
The expected number of people waiting in the queue is Lq = 0.0677 * * Look up the table and
find the result is about 0.059
However, we don t think it is accurate.
* We stimulate these calculations of the Queuing Models on excel, which is called Q.xls. Finally,
we get a more accurate Lq.
6. What is the average number of callers in the system?
The average callers in the system not only contain the customers who are on the call, but also
include those customers who are waiting in the queue. So the average number of callers can be
calculated by adding the expected number of people waiting in the queue and the average
utilization of the employee.
* = 0.0677 + 112.39 / 27.55 = 4.1472
7. What is the average total time in the system?
The average total time in the system can be divided into two aspects, the waiting time and the
serving time. For the average waiting time, we should use the expected number of people waiting
in the queue to be divided by the arrival rate.

We live in this world conforming to rooted values and faiths that direct our knowledge of what is
right and what is wrong, and which inspires us to generate a sense of the world in distinct

including the media, family, friends, and one s culture. With these factors, we may be able to
distinguish and analyze a few beliefs and values, and even other different factors may construct the
decisions we make without even being aware of them. Although, even with or without that sense of

The American people play a factor into why the US is falling short of its democratic ideals.
There are people who are losing their moral values and social media is a vital factor as to why
people have been encouraged to the loss of moral values. It is very simple and easy for one to
write something negative that can invade an individual s privacy and against one s religion. For
example, political leader Donald Trump uses Twitter as a place to share his thoughts, and
opinions about certain beliefs and factors. Social Media is very simple and just takes a click of a
button to post anything for the world to see. The powerful things the media can create are
alarming and needs to be viewed with more consideration to protect individual principled values.
In fact, people should be more conscious of how social media and the web brings influence into
other s lives. But, although it may suggest that the only values that are held by our society is the
idea of fulfillment, as if people do not care about individual actions affecting others. In present day,
all things are about instantaneous fulfillment. For instance, I have the power and ability to do
whatever I please to anybody, but they better not do it back to me. The example above demonstrates
the clear mentality that is being

The Most Important Thing You Remember About A Thesis...
The most important thing to remember about a thesis statement is it gives the reader your
opinion and you are entitled to your opinion. You are also giving the reader a new article to read
and allow them to give feedback if necessary. This isn t new to me, for I ve done a thesis
statement before and received good feedback from fellow classmates. What s different is all of us
were focused on once topic and had to come up with our own thesis on that assigned topic. It
worked out well.
Thesis Statement Number 1: Judging A Book by the Cover
People who jump to conclusions without prior knowledge should be aware of people s feelings
and not make a big deal about it. It causes personal problems and judging can take a toll on people
who are sensitive and want honest opinions. Today, there a re more than seven billion people in
the world. Each and everyone of them are human and have a mind. They are entitled to their
own opinion and have every right to express themselves. The hard truth is their opinion can be
taken to a new level and be considered judging. Judging, or looking done on someone, is
expressing how you feel about a topic in a negative manner. Whether is an artist s book, an
authors book or a plate of food. These things are judge without any knowledge. Judging mainly
goes to people s appearance, personality and interests. For example, a man named John looks down
upon another man named Abel, even though John doesn t know Abel. This is a ridiculous

Celtic Christianity and The Secret Rose Essays
Celtic Christianity and The Secret Rose
In William Butler Yeats The Secret Rose, the author develops his theme through choice of diction,
imagery, symbolism, and scansion. Yeats Irish background is an influential factor in terms of the
tone with which he addresses religious beliefs, and an acceptable interpretation of The Secret Rose
depends on one s knowledge of Celtic history and tradition.
Throughout his poem, Yeats uses a great deal of symbolism in describing the well known events
that surround the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Every line is significant in terms of how one
understands the statements (and questions) Yeats is posing. The Secret Rose is in itself, a
noteworthy title, because it sums up the fixation of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yeats style is quite prayerful his voice at first resembles an aged person who is seeking comfort
as he reaches his final days on Earth. At the end of the poem, Yeats voice has become one of
assurance and anticipation. This change in voice is quite effective in developing the idea that
living is a circular event, and death is certainly not a final destination. Furthermore, this belief is
consistent with the Celtic conviction that death must come before birth in the circle of life because
there must be room for new growth before it can occur.
The meter and rhyme scheme of Yeats poem are similarly structured to coincide with the belief that
life is an unending cycle. The poem is written in iambic pentameter, in pairs of rhyming couplets,
and the first rhyming couplet rhymes with the final couplet as well. In returning to the original
rhyme, Yeats reinforces the belief that life will continue in a non terminal circle.
The theme of Yeats poem deals with the anticipation of the Second Coming of Christ, a very
Christian viewpoint. However, in his writing Yeats incorporates an important part of his heritage:
the Druids, an ancient order of priests that played a pivotal part in the growth of Christianity in
Ireland. In Druid vapour and make the torches dim; / Till vain frenzy awoke and he died; and him /

  • 2. A Brief Review Of Marine Isotope Stages Kendra McKoy 11/11/14 Paleoceanography Draft 1 A brief review of Marine Isotope stages Introduction The creation of marine isotope stages we know today was a carminative effort between several scientists and research institutions across decades. It first started with Cesare Emiliani who transferred to the University of Miami s Institute of Marine Science in 1957. Emiliani had been investigating the cause and nature of Quaternary glaciations by examining foraminifera fossils from the marine sedimentary record for the Pleistocene Age. Moving to the University of Miami offered new opportunities for Emiliani to work with ongoing drilling projects and trained individuals. Emiliani s work was heavily influenced by Harold Urey s 1947 work on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Oxygen isotope ratios change in the ocean primarily due to precipitation and evaporation. When water evaporates from the surface, lighter 16O is preferentially removed and turned into vapor while the heavier 18O is preferentially left behind. With time, this causes the ocean to be 16O depleted or 18O enriched. If the cloud precipitates out, the first isotopes to be released are the heavier 18O while the 16O remain as vapor. It is important to note that complete precipitation or evaporation results in no fractionation since all molecules of water are precipitated or evaporated out. Rayleigh fractionation occurs as the water vapor moves poleward and begins precipitating out the heavier isotopes until the vapor is progressively more enriched in light isotopes (Figure 1). The lighter isotopes can then be stored as terrestrial ice. This mechanism explains how on long timescales the oxygen isotope ratio can change when forming or collapsing large ice sheets. Because the changes in the isotopic ratio are so small, delta notion was adopted with the use of an international standard. The original standard, adopted in 1968 by the International Atomic Energy Agency, was called Standard Mean Ocean Water (SMOW) but has been retired for the current standard Vienna Standard Mean Ocean Water (VSMOW). The calculation for Оґ18O is defined as follows: Оґ^18 O=[(гЂ–(_^18)O/(_^16)O ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Summary Of The Legal Requirements And Guidance Relating To... 1. Analyse legal requirements and guidance relating to the safeguarding of children. Law and guidance regulate the way you should work with children in your childcare setting to support and encourage their well being and safeguard them from abuse and maltreatment. Legislation provides a comprehensive instruction on what must be attained in respect to child protection and safeguarding. Whereas Legal guidance is more precise and provides details on how the law ought to be applied and fulfilled in early years settings and services. Laws and statutory regulation are compulsory and should reinforce policies and procedures that are used in your setting. Legal requirements Children Act 1989 Determines the duty of early year s practitioners to identify and meet the separate and distinctive needs of children and to keep them safe. It initiated the belief that the child ought to be at the centre of planning and that a child s well being and safety are vital when judgements are made concerning them. This act also recognises the accountabilities of parents in keeping their offspring safe. In this act there are two particular segments that relate to the duty of local authority with concern to child protection, these are Section 17 States that services should be put into place to safeguard and promote the welfare of children within the (local authority) area who are in need . • 4. Persuasive Essay On Clubfoot Kristi Yamaguchi, the Jewel on Ice , is one of the best women ice skaters in the world (Donohue 49). She was good enough to place top five in two World Championships (33), good enough to tour the country to perform (57), good enough to win two medals at nationals (30), good enough to make it to the winter Olympics (48), and good enough to overcome a disability to be who she is today (12). This disability is known as clubfoot, and with correction devices, it can be fixed (Healthwise). There are many important details about clubfoot. Clubfoot, also known as talipes equinovarus, is a birth defect, which mean it is there when the baby is born (Frey). Clubfoot causes pain because it makes the foot turn sideways and inward (Weatherford 175). This disease makes the affected foot look like a club, hence the name clubfoot (176). With clubfoot, the foot turns toward the other foot, and those who are affected appear to walk on their heels ( Famous People ). Imagine having to walk on a thin calf and having a high heel, which are both causes of talipes equinovarus (Frey). Each year one in every 1,000 babies born in the United States will be born with clubfoot. There are also 150,000 200,000 people in the world that are affected with clubfoot each year (Blue Sky Hosts). The main symptom for clubfoot is pain, although clubfoot is harmless in babies. There are many remedies for talipes equinovarus including corrective shoes, wearing special braces at night, physical therapy, and possibly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Chymotrypsin Essay Chymotrypsin mimics. D Souza along with other researchers were investigated the use of an artificial chymotrypsin with the binding site of cyclodextrin with the catalytic site of an imidazolyl group, a carboxylic acid and a hydroxyl acid. The synthetic chymotrypsin has a reduced molecular weight and they believed that the real and artificial enzyme had the same catalytic activity. The model enzyme as seen in figure 1 has a molecular weight of 1365 g mol 1 and is made up of 24 serine proteases. The active site is only known through X ray crystallography and because of this knowledge surrounding the mechanism is limited. The crystallography data shows the proposed mechanism involves three main molecules in the active site. These are serine 195, histidine 57 and aspartate 102. They believe the functional groups hold all importance in relation to reaction. The functional groups are a hydroxyl group an imidazolyl group and the carboxylate ion. Figure 1: Small mimic molecule of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the charge relay system was occurring the pH would be more consistent with that of the chymotrypsin at 7.4. The solvent isotope effect that is claimed to be evidence of the charge relay system is the same as that for the hydrolysis of m (tert butyl) phenyl acetate by for chymotrypsin which alters the pKa of the secondary hydroxyls allowing hydrolysis to occur. Breslow and Chung back up the claims made by Zimmerman determining that the reaction must proceed via the imidazole acting as a general base to deprotonate the cyclodextrin hydroxyl group. The claim that the mimic model hydrolyses 2.5 equivalents of m (tert butyl) phenol continuously Zimmerman claims that this is false as they monitored the release of m (tert butyl) phenol. Since the mimic contains thirteen secondary hydroxyl groups, multiple acylation s are able to occur without ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Using Fixed And Variable Costs Within The Report Exhibit 2 contains both fixed and variable costs within the report. Other costs we must look at is the opportunity of the purchased computer equipment, which has a value of roughly $25,500. The leased computer equipment cannot be cancelled, thus we consider it a sunk cost and do not take it into consideration. Next, we look at the purpose of creating PDS. The purpose was to help deregulate PTC and rescind the push through of a rate increase. If they shut down PDS, PTC would have to pay the market rate for their data needs, which will increase this cost by two fold. Additional issues to take into consideration are the burdens of finding alternate use for the space PDS is currently renting and the opportunity cost of wages being paid to the PDS employees. Can we invest the wage pay somewhere else for a higher return? Asking these questions demonstrates the value of looking at PDS in depth to determine if more value exists than appears within the initial reports. Digging deeper, the first number we examine is how many computer hours PDS has to sell to break even. We will assume the intercompany hours billed at $400 will average 205 per month. The variable costs include power, parts of operation wages, and materials. Next, we calculate the unit contribution (sales variable cost). The average cost for power is the total 3 month power cost divided by the total time computers were used during this time (total revenue plus service hours) or 5028/1110 = $4.53. Operations cost ... • 7. Short Story On Banana Boating BANANA BOAT! The most wonderful thing to do in the water is to go banana boating. The rush of the wind and water is worth all the times you were scared to mount the inflatable in the first place. That is, until you get off the boat. Then you realize that those things in the water is why, it is why you didn t do this yourself. Come on Rori! You chicken or what? I am not chicken, I will tell you that. But I was scared. Scared of the water activities. I was at Camp Silver Beach. My cabin was strolling into the bay. My friend Hannah Banana had plans for me and her. She planned for me to go on the banana boat with her. I heard stories of the legendary banana boats. Some didn t end well. As soon as I was about to decline Banana pushed me into the line. I decided to go with it. We walked out to the boats and mounted them slowly. The boat drivers in the front were telling us about hand signals and how to go faster. They started slow. I was the first one who put my hand up to go faster. ... It was the second day of my boating quest. Me and Banana went again. It was the same as last time. We went faster and faster, wind in my face and water on my feet. Everything was perfect. It felt like a dream. On the other hand, a small touch would make me cry for help. ... Banana looked scared of the water. She wanted out quickly. I decided to jump out and help her walk back to the sandy shore. You don t need to help me! Come off on the other side of the boat! Nonsense Banana! This is the fastest way to help you I m a moron aren t I! I stepped into the water and felt a tickle on my legs. The tickle was a twisted touch. It soon turned onto a sting that burned my legs to a crisp. Oh my god. OUCH! Help! SUGER HONEY ICED TEA THAT HURTS! I told yo OW! So... Our cabin counselor ran over. The Disconnection Between Aurora And Felicia The character most important to me is Felicia, Aurora s mom, because she is like the earth that tries to convince Aurora that Echo Park is part of her life, because it s their home. In chapter 2, the disconnection between Aurora and Felicia originates with the death of Alma. Alma dies, when it was supposed to be Aurora the one that should have died. The only thing that saved her was not following Felicia s orders, so she moved and didn t receive the bullet that killed Alma. Felicia s decision of giving her dog, Blackjack, to Aurora and making her accept that it is her dog now, represents her accepting that Echo Park is her home. Through this act, Felicia s intentions of making Aurora realize that Echo Park is part of her identity and her home is proven. Therefore, when the dog escapes and gets lost, she sends Aurora to find it as if she sends her to realize that Echo Park is her home. Through her journey of finding the dog, Aurora finds herself learning what Echo Park has become from what she remembers. This shows that Felicia is the earth because she never left Echo Park and she wanted her daughter to not leave it either. She wanted Aurora to not forget where her real home is, which identifies her and makes her part of Echo Park too. I think Felicia s character is important to the novel and the realization of Aurora towards Echo Park being her home. I believe we need to remember from where we come and be proud of our roots because that is what identifies us and makes us unique. It is not wrong to want to succeed in life like Aurora wanted to, but we also need to know and accept ourselves, which includes our background and history. The objective of my lesson was to make students know how to convert an Octal Number into Binary Number System on the board and its practical implementation. To achieve these objectives I started my lesson with a question answer session to revise their previous concepts. After the recap session I divided my class into groups of 4 students each and said them to identify Hexadecimal and Binary digits. Then through exposition I explained the current topic how to convert a hexadecimal number into binary on the board. For more detail explanation I solved three related examples on the board interactively. In these examples I involved students to help me in solving these examples. This was their learning towards the application of current topics properties. Later I assigned the conversion task to the groups. Each group did its work and it was the responsibility of the group leader to make sure participation of each member of the group. • 11. The Effect Of Shallow And Deep Levels Of Processing On... Abstract This was a study conducted at IUP on undergraduate students to see if processing information at certain levels would improve memory recall. During the study, we presented the participants with a PowerPoint of information on a made up country. The participants was randomly assigned to a shallow, medium, or deep processing instruction, which explained to them how to take notes throughout the presentation. After, students recieved a distractor task for 15 minutes, and after given a multiple choice test on the information showed on the slides. The results showed that there was no significant difference between note taking instructions and the number of correct answers. All three task instructions in the study showed similar means on the recall test. Effects of Shallow to Deep Levels of Processing on Memory Recall Sources Craik and Lockhart (1972) conducted a study where they first introduced the theory of depth of processing, also known as levels on processing. They said that memory processing had levels ranging from shallow to deep. They said that people processed words at a shallow, moderate or deep level. Shallow processing, also known as structural encoding, is when physical features of the information is analyzed. They found that information is usually forgotten because the processing does not involve meaning, so it creates memory that is weak, resulting in information being harder to retrieve. One way to define moderate processing, also known as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Glucksman was victorious in the end as he proved himself to be an indispensible part of Lehman s operations. Historically this has always been a formula for disaster. Justifications for the duality were unconvincing. Peterson was suppose to be the external client facing image of the company whereas Glucksman was suppose to be the internal executioner of operations. The division of duties may seem clear but it does not lead to a clear division of power. At the very top of a major Wall Street company, power must be clearly defined and completely authoritative. If it is not, then human nature and the nature of an organization will eventually find a way to define power. In this case, power was defined through duties and internal duties won over external duties. Also contributing to the outcome of the power struggle were structural features that existed across the financial industry. The whole industry is governed and motivated by profits generated through individual contribution irrespective of the firm s net performance. This particular industry structure results in the classic inter departmental tensions to maximize the individual department s profits. To a certain extent, Lehman had to comply with rest of the companies by creating the isolated departmental structure to maintain its top performers. As a result, when a department creates 60 80% of the firm s profit, the power shifts to the department making the most money. Lehman could have created an alternate compensation strategy to reduce the potential for power struggle between the departments. For example, rather ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Haussmann s simplifications caused more segregation of class and function. Different parts of the city increasingly formed distinctive characters of dress, function, and wealth. Another motive for the reconstruction was to break up some of the poor and insurrectionary neighborhoods. Many were displaced and concentrated into a quarter on the periphery of the city, which became a close community tied by common resentments and shared experiences. The video game industry must deal with all five of these forces. The analysis of the strength of these five forces within the video game industry will help to draw a conclusion as to whether or not it is an attractive industry for Sony to be in. Game makers have the decision to make certain games exclusively for one console if they are paid enough money, for example Halo made for the Xbox, or make them available on many different platforms. This threat is also moderate for the game industry. The larger the variety of games as well as the better the quality the more likely a customer is to buy one game console over another. The fourth force is that of the bargaining power of the buyers. In the video game industry the buyers do not have very much power, thus making this a weak threat. The buyers do not have much power because the video game industry does not consist of many players. The lack in the customers choices means that they are willing to pay a little more money to get such an item. The fifth and final force is that of the intensity of rivalry. This is the strongest force in the video game industry. Nintendo was very strategic in targeting an audience that Microsoft and Sony neglected. Specifically, ORC managed to sign a licensing agreement with Phillips on moderate terms that did not fully utilize the legal leverage of ORC. In other words, ORC was not able to negotiate the license on their terms but more out of desperation of signing a licensing agreement. Despite having the upper hand, ORC was unable to capitalize on their strong position. During the Sony deliberations, ORC was experiencing financial troubles in Canada. In particular, there is an insufficiency of the body to process porphyrins which are a metal containing pigment. However, porphyria is actually a group of diseases with the commonality of the accumulation of porphyrins or porphyrin precursors. Porphyriais derived from the Greek word porphyrous meaning reddish purple. Urine from patients display a reddish purple hue due to the presence of excess amounts of porphyrins. This is a rare disease with the most common type porphyria cutanae tarda (PCT) statistically to occur one in ten thousand individuals. Porphyria disease is generally inherited genetically, but some environmental factors can enhance or trigger porphyria symptoms. All diseases grouped under porphyria are disorders of heme biosynthesis, the deficiency of one of the enzymes which are necessary for the production of heme. Heme includes hemoglobin, myoglobin, cytochromes, and other heme containing proteins. These are found in all organs within the body, and they are most active in the liver and bone marrow. Due to this enzyme deficiency, the result is the accumulation of certain pathway intermediaries. Porphyria diseases can be categorized based on where the primary site of overproduction occurs. If the accumulation of porphyrins occurs in the liver then this is considered to be hepatic, and if the accumulation occurs in bone marrow then it is categorized as erythropoietic. ... Antisocial may not be the best way to describe the disorder because it implies shyness and people who suffer from the disorder tend to be more outgoing, charming and pragmatic. The term came about because the disorder is anti society. It s behavior that s directed against society. It can balance the student s educational experiences by providing training in oral communication, interpersonal skills, and analytical thinking. (King 1990, p.77). Therefore, it is necessary for us to reflect on what we have done and learnt through grouppresentations. There was lack of discussion regarding new ideas in our team. No contradictions were often made, and we always reached agreement very quickly because we all seemed want to avoid conflict. For instance, when a member said Powerpoint was simple and time saving than other presentation methods, we all quickly agreed to choose Powerpoint without no further arguments. As a result, our presentation seemed quite boring compared with other groups who created a play. To avoid Groupthink , we can apply the brainstoriming strategy to encourage creativity and diversity of ideas. We should write up all the ideas and generate possible solutions, eliminate duplicate ideas to find the most effective solutions. Regarding my individual performance, I was a responsible member and always actively listened to other members ideas to give constructive feedback. I focused on what other members said and encourage them to express their viewpoint. After a decade of rapid economic growth, in 1997 many South East Asian countries were subject to a catastrophic economic crisis. The problems endured involved both immediate crisis management in unstable financial markets and the medium term restructuring and repositioning of their economies in the face of intensified export competition. South Korea had a large current account deficit and the maintenance of pegged exchange rates encouraged external borrowing and led to excessive exposure to foreign exchange risk in both the financial and corporate sectors. Economists have advanced the impact of Mainland China on the real economy as a contributing factor to the crisis. China had begun to compete effectively with other Asian exporters particularly in the 1990s after the implementation of a number of export oriented reforms. How much do others influence their culture and traditions? I believe people only sometimes affect another s viewpoints. For some people, they are similar to their parents, but not always. That s why I can infer that the people around others can only sometimes influence their viewpoints on certain aspects of life. I enjoy similar things compared to my family, but I also love various things as well. So, before anyone feels like somebody is influencing their viewpoint on life and culture, they need to realize that their views are only sometimes persuaded by other people. In the first paragraph, I wrote about how the immigrants see America compared to their homeland. Personally, I believe it is the same with parents and their children. I think somebody s parents are only able to sometimes influence the way they see the people around them and the world around them because they can have different views than their parents. In the letter, An Indian Father s Plea by Robert Lake, Wind Wolf s father tries to explain that his child is different because of his different cultures and traditions. The reason he wants to explain this is because he learns that his child is suffering racism in his kindergarten class. When his son went to his friend s house, his mother made a racial comment. It is ok if you play with him at school, but we don t allow those kind of people in our house, she stated (p98). This made Wind Wolf question whether or not he wants to go to school or even follow his own religion. People in his class even made fun of him because of his hair, but in his situation, long hair is a sign of strength and masculinity. That quote proves that his child is suffering from racism for being different. I have personally never suffered from racism, but my god brother has told me he has suffered from it before. In conclusion, Somebody s parents can only sometimes influence your ways of seeing the world around you. Next, I will talk about the counterclaim. Some people may disagree and ... I never can really stay to a plan for so long without changing my mind. However, what I have found that has kept me grounded and staying on course is fashion design and retail. I am able to express myself through this medium and eventually I plan on becoming a fashionretail buyer myself. Also, I want to be involved in promoting campaigns and advertisements for the newest trends. One of the many highlights of this job is being able to travel to different states and even countries to attend trade fairs as well as visit certain suppliers. As a retail buyer, the buyer is responsible for selecting products up to date with trends and to sell them in retail shops. To become a fashion buyer one must attain a 2 4 year college degree. Along with this, when attending college a student should major in either business, marketing, or merchandising. Although internships are not required, except for certain particular business classes or programs, interning could possibly benefit someone to achieve the highest potential in their job. While training a person needs to learn the knowledge of fashion, retail, and economics. I would imagine that one must have first hand experiencein retail, which I would assume helps the person train for the job. The company s I seek interest in are higher end boutiques because I would be able to sell good quality clothes for a higher price. In cogent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even though this might sound a little boring, the word fiscal austerity has really turned out to be a topic that has been getting hotter by the minute. This has been a subject of debate that is among experts and political economists in current weeks, andГ‚ I for one believe that it is a much needed discussion. Many are unaware how important this debate has become, and that it is well worth the discussion. First, it invites everyone to take a good look that goes way beyond the mindless dramatics of this year s campaigning and enacting, and instead to really start to examine a question that has become far more pertinent to our long term safety, wealth and happiness, specifically: What is the right procedure, size, and possibility of government? What is administration s nature and what should it be doing, or possibly more fatefully,Г‚ what it is doing? Second, the discussion certainly asks how we should be trying to finance the government we have, and whether its expenditure, taxing, using, and money production are ethical or not, and realistic or not. • 33. Descriptive Essay About Mya Mya and I always had this sort of tradition when the first of October settled upon us. Ever since freshman year of high school, we placed it upon ourselves to find a restaurant of cafГ© of some sort here in Haynes and enjoy a cup of hot cocoa. The air by that time was generally beginning to feel frigid, and to the two of us, that meant it was about time we break out the savory drinks, mini marshmallows, and of course, the sweet and frothy whipped cream. Thus, this year, we met at the Cabin, a small restaurant which sat on the border of Haynes and the Foxborough Woods. Large windows replaced the western wall of the quaint restaurant so the patrons of the Cabin may watch the Autumn trees and their leaves sway back and forth in the gentle breeze of this mid afternoon. I ran my finger along the rim of the porcelain cup which sat in front of me, half empty of the chocolate beverage and completely drained of what whipped cream that had arrived with it. Compared to some of the other hot cocoa s Mya and I had tasted over the previous years, this one was rather a letdown. Between its more watered down taste and the lack of marshmallows, I was sorely disappointed. Nonetheless, hot cocoa was hot cocoa, so I continued to sip away as did my friend. I watched as Mya sat upright in her chair and ran her fingers, whose nails were glossed over with a vibrant pink, through her blonde, bobbed hair. That was the signal that she was interested in starting a conversation, but if I knew one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Gender Socialization In Western Culture Even before a child is born, we have already labeled that child as either a boy or a girl. Then as they grow up we subject them to gender socialization, which is the process in which cultures communicate their expectations about gender to the child (Arnett, 135). I grew up in a small town; however, it was not like the stereotypical, very conservative, small town that is often portrayed in movies. My experience in Western culture, which is immensely different than that of other cultures, is that gendersocialization was prevalent during childhood, but became more relaxed during adolescents and emerging adulthood. From as far back as I can remember, differential gender socialization took place during childhood. Parents taught their children that objects such as dolls and dresses were for girls, while objects like trucks and guns were meant for boys. I remember one time that my femalecousin came over to visit and we decided that we want to partake in a battle similar to one the boys conducted when they played. We ended up whipping Legos at each other, which in hindsight was a very dangerous and painful idea, because the Nerf guns were my brothers and girls were not allowed to touch them. These differential gender socializations could continue to be seen in preschool and early grade school years. When allowed free time to play in preschool, girls played with the kitchen set while boys often played with cars or blocks. If a child were to attempt to play in the opposite ... These individuals knew that the government has been and will continue to support them so they became even lazier. Although many people share common characteristics in interests, we are all our own different individuals which can be demonstrated in our personality and choices. The Strong Interest Inventory, SII, depicts these difference by assigning individuals a code based on the decisions made on the test. The code assigned to me was AIS, which means that my top three themes were artistic, investigative and social, in that order. In all honesty, I was not surprised by my results because they were almost identical to the code I received when I took the Kuder assessment back in UNI 150. Back then I got a tie between my social and art, but still had investigative so I had a code of S/AI. I think the code of AIS describes me well due to my love of the arts really taking a big part of me personally, along with my strong level of knowledge in math and science. • 46. A Linguistic Term For Indo European And Indian History ARYANS Aryan is a linguistic term for Indo European (Robert Westad 2014a). The Aryans brought to India no culture so advanced as that of Harappans (Robert Westad 2014a). When the Aryans appear writing disappeared and does not come back until the middle of the first millennium BCE. Cities were reinvented by the Aryans, which lack the elaboration and order of the gridded pattern of Harappans (Robert Westad 2014a). When the Aryans migrated into the Indus Valley they brought with them a culture that was very different from any other region (Breyer 2004). The invaders had two contributions to Indian history; it s formal history and its social institutions (Robert Westad 2014a). One of the biggest social institutions that the Aryans brought to India was the unique social structure; in their system every class had a duty to their society (Breyer 2004). Originally there were only three main classes or Varnas, but this changed to fit the civilisation in which they controlled (Breyer 2004). As religion and rituals were a major part of Indian life, it was only fitting that the priests and scholars were the highest class (Beyer 2004). They were called the Brahmans (Breyer 2004). Under the Brahmans were the ruling class or the Kshatriyas; this also included nobles and warriors (Breyer 2004). The third class was made up of the commoners they were called the Vaisyas. The effects of hallucinogens on the body are unpredictable. They depend on the amount taken and the user s personality, mood, expectations, and surroundings. Although hallucinogens do not produce a physical addiction, users do develop a tolerance, so that increasing amounts must be taken to achieve the same effect. Psychological dependence on hallucinogens is well documented. It appears that each drug carries its own risks. For example, unlike hallucinogens such as LSD and synthetics such as DOM that consist of a single chemical, marijuana has been found to contain more than 400 separate substances. These substances are in turn broken down in the body into a great many more chemicals, and the effects of these chemicals on the user are poorly understood. It has been found, however, that the most potent of these chemicals are attracted to and accumulate in fatty tissues, including the brain and reproductive organs. Studies indicate that frequent marijuana users may experience impaired short term memory and learning ability and reproductive problems. Other studies suggest that frequent or chronic marijuana use may contribute to damage of the immune system, increased strain on the heart, delayed puberty, and chromosome damage.
