Difference Between Chlorine And Irritants
The terms irritant and contaminant, when viewed in isolation, are virtually boundless, for there is
virtually no substance or chemical in existence that would not irritate or damage some person or
property. Without some limiting principle, the pollution exclusion clause would extend far
beyond its intended scope, and lead to some absurd results. Take but two simple examples,
reading the clause broadly would bar coverage for bodily injuries suffered by one who slips and
falls on the spilled contents of a bottle of Drano, and for bodily injury caused by an allergic reaction
to chlorine in a public pool. Although Drano and chlorine are both irritants and contaminants that
cause, under certain conditions, bodily injury or property damage,... Show more content on

Examples Of Racism In The United States Today
We still have racism in the United States today, no doubt about it. In our world today, it doesn t
take long before you hear someone ask the question, was that racist? . often times we question if
what we say and hear is racist. we learn about i in schools and understand the idea, but it seems we
still are confused on what racismreally is. and it s not only the white kids who are throwing the
was that racist card in the air. Often times in pop culture in cinematic movies or tv shows someone
of a different race, usually black, will throw out the phrase is it because i m black?? asian???

Tissue Engineering Scaffold
Preliminary Data 3: Tissue engineering scaffolds comprised of decellularized myocardial
extracellular matrix effectively emulate the natural cardiac environment. In order to best
reconstruct the damaged tissue of a heart following myocardial infarction, the chemical and
biological cues that dictate cell recruitment and differentiation in the native tissues are required.
Each human tissue contains its own specific combination of proteins and proteoglycans within the
ECM to facilitate this process, so it serves that scaffold material obtained from the heartwould best
serve to reconstruct cardiac tissue (Singelyn et al. 2009). Modifying the scaffold into an injectable
form would allow for the noninvasive delivery of the therapy directly to the affected site. Previous
studies on the gelation of a decellularized porcine myocardium ECM scaffold have found it
satisfactory in mimicking the natural environment of the heart (Singelyn... Show more content on

To prepare the injectable ECM hydrogel, ventricular porcine myocardium will be decellularized
with SDS and processed into an injectable solution through lyophilization and partial pepsin
digestion (Singelyn et al. 2009; Singelyn et al. 2012). Final solubilized myocardial matrix will
be brought to pH 8 and kept on ice until gelation. Fluorinated PCL beads will be fabricated by
mixing a liquid PCL solution with 0.14 M pentadecafluorooctanoyl chloride. After mixing at low
speed for 24 hours at room temperature, the solution will be dialyzed, lyophilized, and exposed
to UV light (365 nm) to polymerize into beads (Wijekoon et al. 2013). Prior to combination with
the solubilized myocardial matrix, the PCL beads need to be placed in an aseptic oxygen
chamber (7.5 x 6.0 x 4.0 cm3; O2 flow rate, 5 mL/hour) for oxygen saturation. Afterwards, the
oxygenated fluorinated PCL beads should be immediately combined with the solubilized
myocardial matrix to form the liquid hydrogel precursor

As various constituents in the extract will show maximum absorbance at different wavelengths;
the optimisation of the UV wavelength for detection of analytes is rerquired such that be able to

where an array of diodes is used to monitor the full UV range simultaneously. Therefore, it

How Does Jake Dale s Change In Avatar
In James Cameron s film Avatar, the protagonist, Jake Sully, undergoes a change throughout the
narrative, this being from an apathetic soldier to person who thinks about and cares for the
world around him. Jake is important to us because he allows us to understand the dangers of our
actions. This idea is represented to us through characterisation and dialogue. At the start of the
film Jake Sully arrived on Pandora searching for a purpose in his life. He states early in the movie
saying all I ever wanted was a single thing worth fighting for . This shows that he only accepted the
job because he wanted to experience something new and have something to live for.
Characterisation is represented when he presents himself military style with a... Show more content

Comparing him to when he first arrived not thinking before he acts, putting little thought into
things and only just wanting to explore the planet. An example of this was when jake stumbled
across a group of hammerhead titanotheres as he attempted to kill them, whereas as he starts to
care more for the planet and Na vi he then disesteem towards the way of humans because of their
goal and output on Pandora which is an attempt to destroy the na vis worth. As he trains with
Netaryi, the princess of the omiticaya clan and the trainer and lover towards Jake , he starts to
have more recognition for their world and starts to think and act like them. This is symbolic
because of what he was like at the start and to what he s like now. Dialogue shows an example of
this in the middle of the film during his training to be like the Na vi as he says in english and in
Na vi I see you my brother and thank you. Your spirit belongs to Eywa but your body remains so
that I may take it to nourish the Na vi people. he says this because the Na vi have taught him to
respect the animals and the land. This acknowledges that he is taking everything in and

were the two females involved in these debate stirring cases. In 1990 Terri endured a cardiac arrest

people is extremely hard to go through. Some humans prolong the life of their loved ones

not an evil but a natural and inevitable. Showing these positives gives support by showing how
making these options legal can improve but also potentially harm medically equipped societies. It

SNAP Diet Analysis
The most challenging part about the SNAP diet was not being able to eat out. I have classes
everyday during lunch time, and as a result I eat out often. However, one meal from a restaurant is
basically what I can consume daily for this diet . Another challenge was calculating the portions
size to ensure I would have enough foodfor the four days. I tried visually dividing the can of black
beans in four equal parts. It did not work and in the fourth day, I had no more black beans.
Similarly with the beets, I was going to divide the can in four equal amounts, but then it would
be a significant small portion, and therefore I decided to share in three equal parts. Another great
challenge was the quality of the food. I like to eat my salad with olive oil and vinegar. However,
olive oil would be too expensive, and I decided to buy a light Italian salad dressing instead. The
dressing had HFCS as ingredient, which I usually avoid. Like the salad dressing, I would not buy
a regular mayonnaise, but I could not find a light version in the Dollar Tree store. The quality of
the green tea was also bad, it even stained my cup. To conclude my challenges with this diet,
headache was a problem. I am used to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I usually buy produce at Trader Joe s (I found it cheaper), so I decided to get items there as well.
After I have decided all that I would buy, I started to plan my daily menu. Otherwise, I would
have spend more than $5.05. Comparing the amount of money that I spent with SNAP benefits to
what I normally spend on groceries is an unfair comparison. A sandwich from Subway and a cup
of coffee already cost me more than one day of SNAP benefits. And as result of the strict budget, I
avoided many foods such as coffee, olive oil, light mayonnaise, yogurt, cheese, kale, carrots,
strawberries, and

Introduction. Historically Black Colleges And Universities
Introduction
Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) are experiencing low retention rates with
first generation college students. The students are not graduating within a four to six year
enrollment period, and or are not returning after their freshmen year. As the American workforce
looks to colleges and universities to fulfill the workforce pipeline with educated diverse workers,
HBCUs are in the spotlight to produce qualified minority graduates. Moreover, HBCU s are
looking to refine their methods of inclusion and buy in, this will in turn manifest a higher level of
retention amongst first generation college students.

HBCUs were originally created to educate and uplift African Americans to the same levels of
success and their other racial counterparts. The institutions were created to afford all African
American students, the same chance and opportunities to reach academic and social success. They
were created in times within history, when African Americans could not enroll in traditionally white
post secondary institutions. Currently, there are 105 diverse HBCUs (insert source for
information). Each institution has distinct missions and rich legacies. They vary in size,
enrollment, financial creditability and stability, curriculum and degree programming as well as,
operational effectiveness (Hibel, n.d.). HBCUs serve some students who would not normally be
accepted into other institutions because of their academic and socio economic status.
Higher education in America is facing many challenges, i.e., low retention, low graduation rates and
less funding. Postsecondary institutions are scrambling to remain a competitive entity within
society. In order to do so, students must remain in school (Talbert, 2012). The Office of the White

Working Class Underachievement
Contemporary views are that class is still the most significant social factor for accounting for
differences in educational achievement. It seems that middle class children tend to do better than
working class children. Most sociologists believe that in every social class there is the same range
of ability, this means that class differences in educational attainment are not due to class differences
in intelligence, but due to other circumstances such as the home and socialization. However some
sociologists would argue that attainment in classes results from sifting, sorting and assessment of
pupils in terms of teacher s perceptions of class, ability and conduct. Throughout this essay, the
view that working class underachievers in schoolis... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This theory states that those at the bottom of the class system are deprived of important values,
attitudes, experiences and skills which are essential for educational success. Their home life lacks
the kind of stimulation needed for high attainment, for example, the absence of books and
educational toys. Basil Bernstein identified two forms of speech pattern, the restricted code and
the elaborate code. The restricted code is a kind of shorthand speech. In comparison, in the
elaborated code, meanings are made explicit, explanations are provided and details are spelt out.
According to Bernstein, most middle class children have been socialised in both the restricted and
elaborated codes whereas many working class children are limited to the restricted code. As
teachers use the elaborated code, working class children have an immediate disadvantage and may
be criticised for misunderstanding. Working class children learn this language code at home,
therefore being another reason for underachievement in school being related to home
circumstances. Further more, the French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu starts from the idea that
there is a dominant culture in society. Children born into the middle class have a built in
advantage. Their culture is closer to the culture of the school so they will be more likely to
succeed, their language is closer to that of the teachers so they will be more likely to

Let s Stop Judging A Book By It s Cover
Just like Ghandhi said, an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. There are plenty of times,
when we accidently may judge someone we don t know. For instance, when first going to a new
class full of people, or even a job interview. Isn t it crazy how one small conversation with
someone you don t know can change your total perspective on them? Personally, it happened to
me so many times and the people I thought were weird turned out to be one of the coolest people
I know. Let s stop judging a book by it s cover and actually read it and interpret it s true meaning.
Kwame Anthony Appiah, who is the author of the book Cosmopolitanism is also the Laurance S.
Rockefeller University Professor of Philosophy and a member of the University center for
Human Values. Appiah believes that conversation can help end separation and boundaries
people have around the world. Conversation can allow for cultural exchange, acceptance and
resolve differences. After reading Making Conversation and the Primacy of Practice I believe
conversation works as a positive model for resolving and managing world problems to a certain
extent, depending on the individual/people you are talking to. Overall, some people you will try
to converse with may be hard headed and so stuck on their views and others will be willing to
compromise. Either way, conversation opens doors to new thoughts, perspectives, and voices to
unheard views.
Just like in math, there are so many ways to solve a problem. Just

In the short stories A Rose for Emily written by William Faulkner and The Yellow Wallpaper

feelings of being in control of their lives, and feelings of being insane. Both main characters
struggle against male domination and control. The two stories take place in the late 1800 s
early 1900 s, a time where men s place in society was superior to that of women. Each story was

Alpine Lodge Research Paper
On the side of the road along route 33 in Alpena, WV sits the Alpine Lodge. The Alpine Lodge
opened up in 1939 as a hunting and fishing lodge and came to be because of a man named Adam
Thomas Dahmer. Adam and his wife Julia owned a business in Glady and a store and post office
in Bemis. Adam had his heart set on building a business in Alpena so he purchased the Park Collett
Farm sometime in the 1920 s; this was to become the home of the Alpine Lodge.
Adam Dahmer died in 1942 from a massive heart attack while walking in the snow to the Alpine
Lodge. His wife Julia continued to operate the Lodge well into her eighties and did all of the
baking for the lodge until her last days. At ninety, Julia had help from her daughter Lorraine
Burke in the daily business of the Lodge. Julia Dahmer died at the age of 104 years old. Her
daughter Lorraine continues to supervise the Lodge at the age of ninety three years old. She gave
the ownership of the Lodge to her son Mark Lynn Burke years earlier but Lorraine continues to

Personal Narrative-Back To The Tennis Courts
The car jostled as we passed over a speed bump to reach our destination, a homeless shelter. Never
having coached tennis before, ideas frantically buzzed through my head on how to engage the
children at the shelter. Immediately sent out to the tennis courts upon arrival, we were left gaping
at the half torn nets and the dead tennisballs strewn across the moldy courts. We gathered the
children together and divided them into groups, shepherding them to different courts. Okay, have
any of you played tennis before? I asked with a smile. Met with confused stares, I switched to
Spanish, finally getting a clear response of no. Aware that assigning drills was not the best idea, I
fell back onto the games I thought about during the car ride.

Security Issues in International Relations Are Best...
Security Issues are Most Effectively Addressed by a Neo Realist Approach to International
Relations. Discuss.
Security has been the source for much debate within International Relations; ranging from the
optimum way to provide security, through to the definition of security itself. Neo Realism has, in
the past, been the dominant approach to security issues within International Relations. However, in
the past few decades events such as the end of the Cold War, international terrorism and
globalisation have dramatically changed the world, which has only intensified the debate over
which approach most effectively addresses security issues within International Relations. This essay
seeks to argue that although, at one time it may have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Neo liberals are prepared to go to war but it is generally accepted as a last resort, with the use of
economic sanctions the preferred security method; the belief of peace via co operation. Neo liberals
view sanctions as a means of preventing a rogue state from violating the international norms
(Martin, 1992). The neo liberal understanding of the international community lies within increasing
interconnectedness and the utility of international institutions such as the EU and UN. The security
of Israel has weakened in recent years due to threat posed by Iran and their suspected research into
the development of nuclear weapons. In 2005 the EU imposed trade sanctions on Iran due to
resuming of nuclear activities (European Commission, 2012). A form of collective security occurs
when all states stand to lose something from war; collective insecurity leads to security. Kant would
argue that even though the international system is anarchic, alliances and treaties still exist as a
form of power and security. Buzan (1991) takes this further stating that although economic activity
can generate many different factions within in a state, the international economy itself becomes
powerfully tied together trade, finance and communication.
As previously mentioned, neo realists place an emphasis upon security via military power, and

Planning For An Emergency Operation Plan
Planning is a way of preparing for an event that will happen in the future. Some plans are
relatively straightforward, and others are complex and can take months to finalize. Plans are a
means to achieve the desired result. Once the result is identified, you work backward to
determine what steps will be necessary to achieve the result or goal. This process also applies to
disaster preparedness planning. To better understand what the goals or end results should be for
an emergency operation plan (EOP), it is necessary to study and analyze post incident reports
from recent events. There will always be lessons to learn from every incident regardless of size or
complexity. The military recognized this fact and established a means of sharing post information
incident with what has become to be known as an After Action Review (AAR). This review
addresses what, why, and how events occurred. Originally, AARs were an informal debrief that
compares the intended outcome versus the actual result of an event. The primary focus of the AAR
is for the participants to examine their actions and learn from what went right and wrong during an
event, which will facilitate to better decision making in future events. Since their inception, AARs
have advanced and are found in formal and informal settings. Many post disasters documentation
include some form of an AAR to document the lessons learned from the incident. From these
lessons learned, planners should review previous disaster events,

Steroid Medication and Nasal Polyps
Nasal Polyp Overview
Nasal polyps are small noncancerous growths that resemble peeled grapes. They range in size
with nasal polyps growing large enough to obstruct the sinuses and the nasal cavity. There are
many methods for treating nasal polyps from homeopathic, steroids, and surgery. Nasal polyps can
be managed and often eliminated for short periods of time. Nasal polyps are irritated by severe
allergy drainage and are often found in individuals that suffer from severe allergies and asthma.
Steroid Medications for the Treatment of Nasal Polyps

The Study Of Practice And Practice Essay
The Study of Practice
Introduction As the term refers to the untrained individual, practice may seem like a minuscule
activity that is drawn out to emulate a pattern that is to be learned. As practice refers to motor
learning it is a very integral part of learning a motor pattern. The same can be said for other
activities such as riding a bike, dribbling a ball, or climbing stairs. According to the Oxford
English dictionary the term practice is defined as, repeated exercise in our performance of an
activity or skill so as to acquire or maintain proficiency in it (Practice, 2016). We practice a certain
activity to become better at performing said activity. For example, a small child learning how to
ride a bike, may use training wheels help the child maintain balance without the threat of falling
off of the bike. The training wheels help the child acquire the feeling of what it is like to ride a
bike. The use of the training wheels allows the child to practice or get comfortable with the
action of riding a bike before actually doing so. Practice encompasses many other factors that
contribute to how well an individual attains and learns a skill. Practicing a skill infrequently or
frequently affects how that skill is performed. The distribution or spread of practice may affect
learning. The instability or variability of a skill performance can have an effect on the end result
learning. Mental practice, part practice, and whole practice are types of practice that also has

The Cruelty Of Masters Toward Slaves
The Cruelty of Masters toward Slaves During the nineteenth century, masters would mistreat
their slaves. Some examples of this misconduct would be whippings, a lack of food, a lack of
clothing, and malicious language directed at the slave. The injuries that the slaves would
receive could never heal because before the wounds could heal, they would be beaten again.
Frederick Douglass, a slave during the 1800s, in his autobiography, Narrative of the Life of
Frederick Douglass: An American Slave, he strives to persuade Americans to realize that slaves
were treated brutally by their masters no matter if their masters were male or female, rich or
poor, or religious or nonreligious. Slaveholders, masters, and overseers, both male and female,
acted savagely toward their slaves. Frederick Douglass (1845/1995) in his autobiography
Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, writes about when the overseer Mr. Gore shot a
slave named Demby because Demby was trying to relieve some of the pain in his back from
receiving a scourging by jumping into a creek (p. 14). No compassion is shown to the slaves by
Mr. Gore. Douglass (1845/1995) tells of two females who also treated slaves brutally. Mrs.
Hamilton hardly ever let an hour go by when her two slave girls, Henrietta and Mary, were not
whipped (p. 21). The perpetual whippings caused constant festering sores on the girls head, neck,
and shoulders (p. 21). In addition to the oppression the girls under Mrs. Hamilton s care faced, they

Farm Descriptive Essay
The Farm Awakens
The arrival of the six children wearing wrinkled clothes and half shut eyes ironically revived the
empty ranch and brought life back into each and every crevice. The rusty gates creaked as they
swung open, revealing the world of tall grass and herds of cattle hidden deep in the hills of
Nevada. Two cars, filled to capacity, rolled up the dusty, dirt road leaving behind all sense of
civilization. They arrived at night. Thousands of white lights illuminated the sky normally
blanketed by the bright streets back home. The air smelled and felt fresh. The eerie quiet hid the
sleeping animals, but because of the grinding gravel and anxious screams of joy, the children s
noise bounced between the mountain sides and awoke the farm. Both cars parked in front of the
white picket fence lining the house and duffle bags dumped out the back of the SUV s filled with
sweaters, toiletries, pants, blankets and pretty much anything else they could fit. The strong, stocky
fathers slung the bags over their shoulders and brought them inside, turned on the lights, and the
outside world was forgotten as they admired the inside of their home for the week.
When the door opened, 5 pairs of boots stomped inside, shuffling their feet along the thick, bristly
rug that read Welcome Home! . As their heads revolved around the room, Dylan and Grace, the two
oldest, led the pack of children naively glancing past the cowhide rugs and rustic furniture the
parents admired. They traveled room to

Cynthia Ozick s Short Story The Shawl
The Holocaust is a major event in history of the world. Many pieces of literature have been
written about it including Cynthia Ozick s short story, The Shawl. This story is something that
most people cannot relate to. This story tells of a family in a concentration camp that will do
anything to survive. The mother has a fourteen month old baby that she must take care of along
with herself. The baby is wrapped in a shawl that conceals her from the rest of the world. It is the
baby s protection. The mother eventually runs out of milk, so the baby sucks on the shawl. It
keeps her quiet until the jealous niece takes it from her. The baby searches for it, but ends up

The Triage Assessment Form On Clients

In life we are born with care givers taking care of our every need until one day we are ready to be
out in the world. We learn many things from our care givers and the environment we live in. These
lesions teach us how to take care of ourselves by finding food, water, shelter, and security. Many
people out in the world are going through their normal day only worrying about what they have to
do when they get home instead of worrying about what might happen, until one day the unthinkable
happens. Then what? Where do I get help? Whether it is a national disaster, thinking about suicide,
loss of job, loss of home, or death of a loved one, crisis happen every day. Crisis workers are out all
over the world helping people deal with crisis. The job of a crisis worker is to assist people that
are having a crisis, check severity of client s crisis, and assist with coping with crisis. A crisis has
different affects on how people cope with the stress of the situation. Some can deal with the crisis
and can do what is needed to get through the crisis and there are the ones that need assistance in
every step to recovery.
The crisis workers assesses people that are having problems with crisis by defining the problem,
ensuring safety, giving support, listening, examine alternatives, make plans, and obtaining
commitment from the client (James, 2008). The main goal for the crisis worker is to get the client

African Culture in the Play, Death and the King s Horseman
Death and the King s Horseman is an interesting play because it brings forward the culture of the
Africans, specifically the Yoruba tribe, to the attention of the reader that most probably come from
a different background. There are many ways to read this play for example, it may appears
uneventful to some reader who only reads the play literally as an entertainment but if the reader
looks at this play as some cultural study then the theme of understanding will surely be obvious and
the reading will be a tougher task as there are many things that must be taken into consideration
such as the clash of cultures (Soyinka 3) and threnodic essence (Soyinka 3), which is the main
theme of the play. Cultural tension between the Western cultureand the Yoruba s culture can be felt
throughout the play because the writer always draws the attention of the reader to understand
another s culture (Yoruba s culture) from a perspective of a different culture (Western culture
) in the
play. The struggle between the Westerners and the Africans to understand each other can be seen
from the beginning to the end of the play. Regardless of Soyinka s claim in the Author s Note
against the reader who would read the Death and the King s Horseman as clash of cultures , which
consequently makes them ignorant to the threnodic essence that discusses about the idea of death
in the Yoruba s culture which is the main theme that Soyinka wants to bring forward to the reader,
the reader must not ignore

Female slave narratives appealed to women by emphasizing the female issues of slavery such as
sexual abuse and motherhood. Harriet Jacobs tries to appeal to the Northern white women using
the emotions of being a mother, Christianity, and the sanctity of marriage. In the story, Jacobs
compares what it is like to endure New Year s Day as a black slave to the celebrations that white
slave owners and their families partake in. To black slaves, this is the day mother s would lose
their children at the auction block to new slave owners. She uses this as a tactic to describe the
pain and heartache a mother feels when separated from her children, in hopes that her audience will
feel sympathetic. Jacobs also uses the sexual harassment in the book as

Effects Of Matrix Stiffness On Primary Pancreatic Cancer...

3.1 Softer substrate regulates proliferation of primary pancreatic cancer cells
To study the effects of matrix stiffness on primary pancreatic cell proliferation, we first
developed a 2D hydrogel system with stiffness (SSM) that mimic those of healthy pancreatic
tissue and cancerous pancreas previously characterized. Briefly, the cancerous pancreatic tissue
had a larger range of SSM (2kPa 30kPa) and a higher average SSM than normal tissue (0.8 4 kPa).
Consequently, to account for the variability of stiffness on cancerous tissue, our model included
two groups of PA hydrogels with Acrylamide:Bisacrylamide (Ac:Bis) ratios of: (1) 6%:0.075% and
(2) 10%:0.075% 25kPa yielding an average SSM of 8kPa and 25kPa ... Show more content on

We examined the viability of the cells in response to the chemotherapeutic as a function of the
matrix stiffness (Figure 2C). We observed that as the cells underwent apoptosis they detached from
the substrates. Consequently, we collected the media before (Day 7) and after (Day 10) the
chemotherapy to quantify the number of cells in suspension. As depicted on Figure 2C, the PC
cells cultured on softer substrates experience larger increase in dead cells resulting from the
chemotherapy compared to the PC cells growing on stiffer substrates. As Figure 2A shows, both
Gemcitabine concentrations lead to a change in cell morphology and a higher decrease in cell area
on the softer PC tumors (3kPa and 8kPa) compared to the stiffer PC tumors (25kPa and control
group).
To further explore the effect of matrix stiffness on the response of PC cells to chemotherapy, we
used enzymatic activity as a metric of cell proliferation. We perform alamarBlueВ® assay before
adding the Gemcitabine treatment and after 72hrs of treatment. As depicted in Figure 2B, there
is a dramatic (x x for 2um and xx for 5uM) decrease of the enzymatic activity of the PC cells
growing on softer substrates in response to the chemotherapy. On the other hand, the PC cells
growing on stiffer matrices shows no decrease of enzymatic activity when treated with 2 ВµM of
Gemcitabine and a xx when treated with 5ВµM of

With new discoveries that are made every day, the science community in a broad sense has

One major aspect among patients is that they have some type of trouble maintaining relationships

Historically, the DSM III criteria for PSD was established around the 1970 s by Spitzer, Endicott,

because STPD was closely related to Schizophrenia it was also considered as Borderline

schizophrenics while clinical centered on how closed related the symptoms were to schizophrenia

symptoms fall into a three factor model. Among the factors, the cognitive perceptual factor was

Definition Of Self Regulation Assignment
Self regulation Assignment Manjunath Bhat McMaster University Under the principle of
universality, the standardization of nursing care across the country is important to maintain inter
professional equality and compatibility. This can be achieved by regulating nursing practice
through inter professional collaboration, communication, professional conduct, accountability and
mutual respect (Benton, GonzГЎlez Jurado Beneit Montesinos, 2013). Self regulation assignment
is a tool developed by College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) to promote safe, competent and ethical
nursing care in Ontario. It will assist nurses with professional practice and help them understand the
expectation of entry level practice. It will also ensure that nurses are able to demonstrate the
competencies through Quality Assurance (QA) program (Colleges of Nurses of Ontario, 2014a).
The College regulates the nursing practice through the quality assurance program which has two
parts: self assessment and practice assessment. The purpose of self assessment is to identify
learning needs and develop a learning plan using SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Attainable,
Reliable and Time bound) to meet those learning needs. Through the practice assessment, CNO
regulates the nursing practice by selecting few nurses to participate in the assessment every year.

The United States (U.S.) Women s Soccer Team has become more profitable, more watched, and

Description Of A Good Friend
Dearest Good Friend,
After having taken an entire course dedicated to design, I think that I ought to pass on some of
the information I learned in the form of some oh so friendly advice. Although you, my good
friend who has been seriously considering going into design for some time, may already know a
bit about design, I thought it a good idea to let you know about what a few of the sources I have
been reading have to say about being a designer. Also, I wanted to let you know what these sources
say in regard to the place of designers and of designers work in the larger society. Unfortunately,
I will not be able to give you the full run down, but I have chosen the best just for you. Jumping
ahead a bit to my summary of findings, I found that designers have special responsibilities lot of
them. They have to think about the people with which they work, the consumers of their
designs, the manufacturers of their designs, and the nature of the material with which they
work. Also, design should not be thought of as a way in which people show mastery and control
over the world. To do this is a bad idea because it can have a negative impact on a person s morals.
Now that I have given you an overview of my findings, I will let you know more about how I came
to these conclusions.
In deciding whether designers have any special responsibilities, I found the articles A Buddhist
Perspective on Industrial Engineering and the Design of Work by Wei Tau Lee, James A.

months. Eventually his wife, Mildred pulls the alarm and his boss, Beatty, forces him to burn his
own house down. Bradbury s novel, Fahrenheit 451, shows how the rebirth of either an individual or
society requires self destruction through the motif of fire, which symbolizes destruction, and
Montag s burning of his own house. During the burning of Montag s old life, his tone shows the

Persuasive Speech On Recycling
The world is full of people using everyday products made from plastics or styrofoam, from simple
things like cups, forks and spoons to expensive electronics such as printers, phones, and TV s.
About 300 million tons of plastic is produced globally each year (Raising Awareness of Plastic
Waste) and more than 14 million tonnes of polystyrene(styrofoam) are produced every year around
the world (Now and forever: The Styrofoam dilemma). With these high amounts being produced
each year it is easy to see why our oceans are now filled with these materials which end up
damaging our earths ecosystem, marine life, and wild life. Out of the 300 million tons of plastic
produced only about 10 percent of that is recycled (Raising Awareness of Plastic Waste) and out
of the 14 million tons of styrofoam produced only 56 million pounds of styrofoam are recycled
(EPS (Styrofoam) Facts, Figures and Statistics) This means that the majority of plastics and
styrofoam end up in landfills or our oceans changing our world for the worst one non recycled item
at a time. After reviewing two different Ted Talks, one about recycling
plastic by Mike Biddle and
one about recycling styrofoam by Ashton Cofer it has become more apparent to me that recycling
plastics is extremely important and Mike Biddle has the solution. What is Ted Talks? Ted Talks is
a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or
less). TED was established in 1984 as a conference

The Logical Fallacies
What are logical fallacies, evidence, and error in misconceptions? The report will identify nine
logical fallacies. If all evidence in an argument appears to be true, still the disputation may be
invalid if the logic utilized is not sanctioned ( Logical Fallacies, 2014). Another name for it is
called logical error, in philosophy. There are many fallacies to be aware of when making a sound
argument. The nine logical fallacies are Mere assertion/Circular reasoning/Ad hominem, Red herring
/Pseudo questions/False cause, and Sweeping generalizations/Slippery slope/Equivocation or
changing means. `
Mere assertion/Circular reasoning/Ad hominem
1.Mere assertion is when one says a statement is true, because he or she straightforwardly believe ...

One may use it to defend him or herself against a skeptic, claiming that the skeptic is closed
minded. By way of example, Karina s presentation should not be shown, because her religion is
Christian. Cristian should not be allowed to speak, because he cannot drive. On the whole, Kevin
should not be able to play soccer, because his mother is sick.
Red herring/Pseudo questions/False cause
4.Red herring is when one distracts someone or the audience to confuse them, with something
irrelevant in a discussion. It leads the viewer to a false end. Also, can be used intentionally. As an
illustration, Rudy s mom asked him to clean the basement because he has not done anything this
week, but he pointed out that he cut the grass two weeks ago. Hector and Jessica were fighting
because no one has said I love you recently, so Hector pointed out that he was the first one to say it.
Briefly, mother and father were arguing about who took the kids to school last, which mother
pointed out that she took them to Chucky Cheese three times this month.
5.Pseudo questions are when one s answer to a question appears to makes sense, but the question
cannot be answered. Questions that people generally fell into. Typically are open ended. To
illustrate, if Albert Einstein was so smart, could he explained God? If Abraham Lincoln was
honest, could he be honest throughout his whole life? Overall, if Michael Jackson was the best
dancer of all times, could he do all the dance moves in the

The Life Of A Pharmacy Technician
Collins:1
The Life of A Pharmacy Technician
During the years, Pharmacy has became one of many huge professions to take. Numerous people
will tell you that, you do not hanve to go to school to become a Pharmacy Technician; but if you
do not know anything about this profession you are going in clueless. Fortis college was my
greatest experiance, with the most amazing people people, and teachers. If it was not for school I
would definietly not know the accuracy of speed, the multitasking with communication, and
computer skills for a pharmacy that is needed. Being fast at what you do with know mistakes is a
major task to know in a pharmacy world. In retail pharmacy there are many prescriptions a day,
so speed for counting and lableing is a must. They do not want you to go to fast though because
they want accuracy also. Even with competetitors, this is where our speed needs to be, to get
patients in and out with smiling faces. For instance, Wallgreens where my extern is, since I have
been there we had about 30 to 40 people transfere from the location they went to all the time, to
ours because of great customer service and our speed. It is either on your toes you are good to go,
or on your butt all the time out the door kind of thing. Anyone within Pharmacy can tell you that
multitasking and communication skills are your two best friends. On a tuesday when I was at
Wallgreens, for an example, a lady came in and one of the technicians did not hear the woman
correctly so she

Symbolism And Symbolism In Wuthering Heights By Emily Bronte
A heart shape symbolizes love, a star shape symbolizes fame, and a diamond shape symbolizes
wealth. Isn t is crazy that a something physical can be utilized within writing to represent something
emotional or figurative? Symbolism is the art of using an object or situation to represent an abstract
idea. It is when an object, person, or situation have both a literal meaning, and a figurative meaning.
Many authors use symbolism to add personality and emotion to their writing. Symbols within
pieces of literature make the writing more enjoyable and interesting to read. Emily Bronte
efficiently uses symbolism throughout her novel Wuthering Heightsto enhance her writing and give
her work more richness. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte takes place in England on two very
contrasting estates, Wuthering Heights, owned by the Earnshaw family, and Thrushcross Grange,
owned by the Linton family. Both of the estates in this novel can be considered symbolic.
Wuthering Heights symbolizes the dark, cold, and gloomy nature of the circumstances around it.
They even proclaim in the novel that the name of the estate is descriptive of the atmosphere tumult
to which its station is exposed in stormy weather (4). The weather around Wuthering Heights also
contributes to its symbolic meaning. The strong winds symbolize the tough times presented to
those who live there, along with exemplifying the toughness of the inhabitants themselves. When
Catherine is at Wuthering Heights she often feels as

birds. If I had a car like that, I would definitely not take it into a swamp! As I started to get further
in the book, I started to wonder to myself, Is the ivory billed woodpecker dead or does it still
exist? Chap s grandpa, Audie, said that he took a photo of the bird a long time ago, but it was
stuck in the old DeSoto (Appelt 27). Since the old DeSoto had been sitting there for a really long
time, I wonder if the bird is still alive. I hope that the bird is alive and that it returns to the swamp

Balloon Persuasive Essay
Meandering down the street, a man sees tons of balloons being liberated on a small child s,
maybe even a toddler s, birthday party. Remembering what a pleasure parties were when he
released balloons as a child, he does not realize the veracity of this situation. All knowledge
considered, no one should blame him; after all, the balloonindustry has put a cap on everyone and
everything that goes against it and it s habits. In fact, balloons are common, and seemingly harmless
party decorations, but innumerable believe they need to become banned. They believe this for the
fact that balloons can be harmful to the environment, depleting of natural resources, and there seems
to be no real safe alternative. However, some researchers believe the exact... Show more content on

alternative are the only true ways to describe balloons. There are countless objects that could be
released into the air instead of balloons, in fact, some of the flying objects you can release are
much more fun than releasing balloons. Some examples of objects that are usually released instead
of balloons are floating lanterns and even butterflies. Overall, governments around the world need
to ban the balloons, and mainly for the fact that they are killing wildlife, taking away natural

Difference Between Chlorine And Irritants The terms irritant and contaminant, when viewed in isolation, are virtually boundless, for there is virtually no substance or chemical in existence that would not irritate or damage some person or property. Without some limiting principle, the pollution exclusion clause would extend far beyond its intended scope, and lead to some absurd results. Take but two simple examples, reading the clause broadly would bar coverage for bodily injuries suffered by one who slips and falls on the spilled contents of a bottle of Drano, and for bodily injury caused by an allergic reaction to chlorine in a public pool. • 6. Tissue Engineering Scaffold Preliminary Data 3: Tissue engineering scaffolds comprised of decellularized myocardial extracellular matrix effectively emulate the natural cardiac environment. In order to best reconstruct the damaged tissue of a heart following myocardial infarction, the chemical and biological cues that dictate cell recruitment and differentiation in the native tissues are required. Each human tissue contains its own specific combination of proteins and proteoglycans within the ECM to facilitate this process, so it serves that scaffold material obtained from the heartwould best serve to reconstruct cardiac tissue (Singelyn et al. 2009). Modifying the scaffold into an injectable form would allow for the noninvasive delivery of the therapy directly to the affected site. Previous studies on the gelation of a decellularized porcine myocardium ECM scaffold have found it satisfactory in mimicking the natural environment of the heart (Singelyn... To prepare the injectable ECM hydrogel, ventricular porcine myocardium will be decellularized with SDS and processed into an injectable solution through lyophilization and partial pepsin digestion (Singelyn et al. 2009; Singelyn et al. 2012). Final solubilized myocardial matrix will be brought to pH 8 and kept on ice until gelation. Fluorinated PCL beads will be fabricated by mixing a liquid PCL solution with 0.14 M pentadecafluorooctanoyl chloride. After mixing at low speed for 24 hours at room temperature, the solution will be dialyzed, lyophilized, and exposed to UV light (365 nm) to polymerize into beads (Wijekoon et al. 2013). Prior to combination with the solubilized myocardial matrix, the PCL beads need to be placed in an aseptic oxygen chamber (7.5 x 6.0 x 4.0 cm3; O2 flow rate, 5 mL/hour) for oxygen saturation. Afterwards, the oxygenated fluorinated PCL beads should be immediately combined with the solubilized myocardial matrix to form the liquid hydrogel precursor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As various constituents in the extract will show maximum absorbance at different wavelengths; the optimisation of the UV wavelength for detection of analytes is rerquired such that be able to detect maximum number of well resolved peaks. Diode array is an ultraviolet detection technique where an array of diodes is used to monitor the full UV range simultaneously. How Does Jake Dale s Change In Avatar In James Cameron s film Avatar, the protagonist, Jake Sully, undergoes a change throughout the narrative, this being from an apathetic soldier to person who thinks about and cares for the world around him. Jake is important to us because he allows us to understand the dangers of our actions. This idea is represented to us through characterisation and dialogue. At the start of the film Jake Sully arrived on Pandora searching for a purpose in his life. He states early in the movie saying all I ever wanted was a single thing worth fighting for . • 11. SNAP Diet Analysis The most challenging part about the SNAP diet was not being able to eat out. I have classes everyday during lunch time, and as a result I eat out often. However, one meal from a restaurant is basically what I can consume daily for this diet . Another challenge was calculating the portions size to ensure I would have enough foodfor the four days. I tried visually dividing the can of black beans in four equal parts. It did not work and in the fourth day, I had no more black beans. Similarly with the beets, I was going to divide the can in four equal amounts, but then it would be a significant small portion, and therefore I decided to share in three equal parts. Another great challenge was the quality of the food. I like to eat my salad with olive oil and vinegar. However, olive oil would be too expensive, and I decided to buy a light Italian salad dressing instead. The dressing had HFCS as ingredient, which I usually avoid. Like the salad dressing, I would not buy a regular mayonnaise, but I could not find a light version in the Dollar Tree store. The quality of the green tea was also bad, it even stained my cup. To conclude my challenges with this diet, headache was a problem. I am used to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the American workforce looks to colleges and universities to fulfill the workforce pipeline with educated diverse workers, HBCUs are in the spotlight to produce qualified minority graduates. The institutions were created to afford all African American students, the same chance and opportunities to reach academic and social success. Currently, there are 105 diverse HBCUs (insert source for information). Each institution has distinct missions and rich legacies. They vary in size, enrollment, financial creditability and stability, curriculum and degree programming as well as, operational effectiveness (Hibel, n.d.). HBCUs serve some students who would not normally be accepted into other institutions because of their academic and socio economic status. Higher education in America is facing many challenges, i.e., low retention, low graduation rates and less funding. Postsecondary institutions are scrambling to remain a competitive entity within society. In order to do so, students must remain in school (Talbert, 2012). • 13. Working Class Underachievement Contemporary views are that class is still the most significant social factor for accounting for differences in educational achievement. It seems that middle class children tend to do better than working class children. Most sociologists believe that in every social class there is the same range of ability, this means that class differences in educational attainment are not due to class differences in intelligence, but due to other circumstances such as the home and socialization. However some sociologists would argue that attainment in classes results from sifting, sorting and assessment of pupils in terms of teacher s perceptions of class, ability and conduct. Throughout this essay, the view that working class underachievers in schoolis... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This theory states that those at the bottom of the class system are deprived of important values, attitudes, experiences and skills which are essential for educational success. Their home life lacks the kind of stimulation needed for high attainment, for example, the absence of books and educational toys. Basil Bernstein identified two forms of speech pattern, the restricted code and the elaborate code. The restricted code is a kind of shorthand speech. In comparison, in the elaborated code, meanings are made explicit, explanations are provided and details are spelt out. According to Bernstein, most middle class children have been socialised in both the restricted and elaborated codes whereas many working class children are limited to the restricted code. As teachers use the elaborated code, working class children have an immediate disadvantage and may be criticised for misunderstanding. Working class children learn this language code at home, therefore being another reason for underachievement in school being related to home circumstances. Further more, the French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu starts from the idea that there is a dominant culture in society. Children born into the middle class have a built in advantage. Their culture is closer to the culture of the school so they will be more likely to succeed, their language is closer to that of the teachers so they will be more likely to ... • 14. Let s Stop Judging A Book By It s Cover Just like Ghandhi said, an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. There are plenty of times, when we accidently may judge someone we don t know. For instance, when first going to a new class full of people, or even a job interview. Isn t it crazy how one small conversation with someone you don t know can change your total perspective on them? Personally, it happened to me so many times and the people I thought were weird turned out to be one of the coolest people I know. Let s stop judging a book by it s cover and actually read it and interpret it s true meaning. Kwame Anthony Appiah, who is the author of the book Cosmopolitanism is also the Laurance S. Rockefeller University Professor of Philosophy and a member of the University center for Human Values. Appiah believes that conversation can help end separation and boundaries people have around the world. Conversation can allow for cultural exchange, acceptance and resolve differences. After reading Making Conversation and the Primacy of Practice I believe conversation works as a positive model for resolving and managing world problems to a certain extent, depending on the individual/people you are talking to. Overall, some people you will try to converse with may be hard headed and so stuck on their views and others will be willing to compromise. Either way, conversation opens doors to new thoughts, perspectives, and voices to unheard views. Just like in math, there are so many ways to solve a problem. Just ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Alpine Lodge opened up in 1939 as a hunting and fishing lodge and came to be because of a man named Adam Thomas Dahmer. Adam and his wife Julia owned a business in Glady and a store and post office in Bemis. Adam had his heart set on building a business in Alpena so he purchased the Park Collett Farm sometime in the 1920 s; this was to become the home of the Alpine Lodge. Adam Dahmer died in 1942 from a massive heart attack while walking in the snow to the Alpine Lodge. His wife Julia continued to operate the Lodge well into her eighties and did all of the baking for the lodge until her last days. At ninety, Julia had help from her daughter Lorraine Burke in the daily business of the Lodge. Julia Dahmer died at the age of 104 years old. Never having coached tennis before, ideas frantically buzzed through my head on how to engage the children at the shelter. Immediately sent out to the tennis courts upon arrival, we were left gaping at the half torn nets and the dead tennisballs strewn across the moldy courts. We gathered the children together and divided them into groups, shepherding them to different courts. Okay, have any of you played tennis before? I asked with a smile. Met with confused stares, I switched to Spanish, finally getting a clear response of no. Security has been the source for much debate within International Relations; ranging from the optimum way to provide security, through to the definition of security itself. Neo Realism has, in the past, been the dominant approach to security issues within International Relations. However, in the past few decades events such as the end of the Cold War, international terrorism and globalisation have dramatically changed the world, which has only intensified the debate over which approach most effectively addresses security issues within International Relations. Neo liberals are prepared to go to war but it is generally accepted as a last resort, with the use of economic sanctions the preferred security method; the belief of peace via co operation. Neo liberals view sanctions as a means of preventing a rogue state from violating the international norms (Martin, 1992). The neo liberal understanding of the international community lies within increasing interconnectedness and the utility of international institutions such as the EU and UN. The security of Israel has weakened in recent years due to threat posed by Iran and their suspected research into the development of nuclear weapons. In 2005 the EU imposed trade sanctions on Iran due to resuming of nuclear activities (European Commission, 2012). A form of collective security occurs when all states stand to lose something from war; collective insecurity leads to security. Kant would argue that even though the international system is anarchic, alliances and treaties still exist as a form of power and security. Buzan (1991) takes this further stating that although economic activity can generate many different factions within in a state, the international economy itself becomes powerfully tied together trade, finance and communication. As previously mentioned, neo realists place an emphasis upon security via military power, and whilst there is no denying that military security is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. Planning For An Emergency Operation Plan Planning is a way of preparing for an event that will happen in the future. Some plans are relatively straightforward, and others are complex and can take months to finalize. Plans are a means to achieve the desired result. Once the result is identified, you work backward to determine what steps will be necessary to achieve the result or goal. This process also applies to disaster preparedness planning. To better understand what the goals or end results should be for an emergency operation plan (EOP), it is necessary to study and analyze post incident reports from recent events. There will always be lessons to learn from every incident regardless of size or complexity. The military recognized this fact and established a means of sharing post information incident with what has become to be known as an After Action Review (AAR). This review addresses what, why, and how events occurred. Originally, AARs were an informal debrief that compares the intended outcome versus the actual result of an event. The primary focus of the AAR is for the participants to examine their actions and learn from what went right and wrong during an event, which will facilitate to better decision making in future events. Since their inception, AARs have advanced and are found in formal and informal settings. Many post disasters documentation include some form of an AAR to document the lessons learned from the incident. From these lessons learned, planners should review previous disaster events, ... • 23. The Study Of Practice And Practice Essay The Study of Practice Introduction As the term refers to the untrained individual, practice may seem like a minuscule activity that is drawn out to emulate a pattern that is to be learned. As practice refers to motor learning it is a very integral part of learning a motor pattern. The same can be said for other activities such as riding a bike, dribbling a ball, or climbing stairs. According to the Oxford English dictionary the term practice is defined as, repeated exercise in our performance of an activity or skill so as to acquire or maintain proficiency in it (Practice, 2016). We practice a certain activity to become better at performing said activity. For example, a small child learning how to ride a bike, may use training wheels help the child maintain balance without the threat of falling off of the bike. The training wheels help the child acquire the feeling of what it is like to ride a bike. The use of the training wheels allows the child to practice or get comfortable with the action of riding a bike before actually doing so. Practice encompasses many other factors that contribute to how well an individual attains and learns a skill. Practicing a skill infrequently or frequently affects how that skill is performed. The distribution or spread of practice may affect learning. The instability or variability of a skill performance can have an effect on the end result learning. Mental practice, part practice, and whole practice are types of practice that also has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some examples of this misconduct would be whippings, a lack of food, a lack of clothing, and malicious language directed at the slave. The injuries that the slaves would receive could never heal because before the wounds could heal, they would be beaten again. Frederick Douglass, a slave during the 1800s, in his autobiography, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass: An American Slave, he strives to persuade Americans to realize that slaves were treated brutally by their masters no matter if their masters were male or female, rich or poor, or religious or nonreligious. Slaveholders, masters, and overseers, both male and female, acted savagely toward their slaves. Frederick Douglass (1845/1995) in his autobiography Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, writes about when the overseer Mr. Gore shot a slave named Demby because Demby was trying to relieve some of the pain in his back from receiving a scourging by jumping into a creek (p. 14). No compassion is shown to the slaves by Mr. Gore. Douglass (1845/1995) tells of two females who also treated slaves brutally. Mrs. Hamilton hardly ever let an hour go by when her two slave girls, Henrietta and Mary, were not whipped (p. 21). The rusty gates creaked as they swung open, revealing the world of tall grass and herds of cattle hidden deep in the hills of Nevada. Two cars, filled to capacity, rolled up the dusty, dirt road leaving behind all sense of civilization. They arrived at night. Thousands of white lights illuminated the sky normally blanketed by the bright streets back home. The air smelled and felt fresh. The eerie quiet hid the sleeping animals, but because of the grinding gravel and anxious screams of joy, the children s noise bounced between the mountain sides and awoke the farm. Both cars parked in front of the white picket fence lining the house and duffle bags dumped out the back of the SUV s filled with sweaters, toiletries, pants, blankets and pretty much anything else they could fit. The strong, stocky fathers slung the bags over their shoulders and brought them inside, turned on the lights, and the outside world was forgotten as they admired the inside of their home for the week. African Culture in the Play, Death and the King s Horseman Death and the King s Horseman is an interesting play because it brings forward the culture of the Africans, specifically the Yoruba tribe, to the attention of the reader that most probably come from a different background. There are many ways to read this play for example, it may appears uneventful to some reader who only reads the play literally as an entertainment but if the reader looks at this play as some cultural study then the theme of understanding will surely be obvious and the reading will be a tougher task as there are many things that must be taken into consideration such as the clash of cultures (Soyinka 3) and threnodic essence (Soyinka 3), which is the main theme of the play. Cultural tension between the Western cultureand the Yoruba s culture can be felt throughout the play because the writer always draws the attention of the reader to understand another s culture (Yoruba s culture) from a perspective of a different culture (Western culture ) in the play. The struggle between the Westerners and the Africans to understand each other can be seen from the beginning to the end of the play. Regardless of Soyinka s claim in the Author s Note against the reader who would read the Death and the King s Horseman as clash of cultures , which consequently makes them ignorant to the threnodic essence that discusses about the idea of death in the Yoruba s culture which is the main theme that Soyinka wants to bring forward to the reader, the reader must not ignore ... Briefly, the cancerous pancreatic tissue had a larger range of SSM (2kPa 30kPa) and a higher average SSM than normal tissue (0.8 4 kPa). Consequently, to account for the variability of stiffness on cancerous tissue, our model included two groups of PA hydrogels with Acrylamide:Bisacrylamide (Ac:Bis) ratios of: (1) 6%:0.075% and (2) 10%:0.075% 25kPa yielding an average SSM of 8kPa and 25kPa ... We observed that as the cells underwent apoptosis they detached from the substrates. Consequently, we collected the media before (Day 7) and after (Day 10) the chemotherapy to quantify the number of cells in suspension. As depicted on Figure 2C, the PC cells cultured on softer substrates experience larger increase in dead cells resulting from the chemotherapy compared to the PC cells growing on stiffer substrates. As Figure 2A shows, both Gemcitabine concentrations lead to a change in cell morphology and a higher decrease in cell area on the softer PC tumors (3kPa and 8kPa) compared to the stiffer PC tumors (25kPa and control group). To further explore the effect of matrix stiffness on the response of PC cells to chemotherapy, we used enzymatic activity as a metric of cell proliferation. We perform alamarBlueВ® assay before adding the Gemcitabine treatment and after 72hrs of treatment. Federal authorities, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, had much less jurisdiction than they have today, and did not include Chicago s gang related activity. Chicago s gang war reached its bloody climax in the so called St. Valentine s Day Massacre of 1929. One of Capone s longtime enemies, the Irish gangster George Bugs Moran, ran his bootlegging operations out of a garage on the North Side of Chicago. On February 14, seven members of Moran s operation were gunned down while standing lined up, facing the wall of the garage. Some 70 rounds of ammunition were fired. When police officers from Chicago s 36th District arrived, they found one gang member, Frank Gusenberg, barely alive. In the few minutes before he died, they pressed him to reveal what had happened, but Gusenberg wouldn t talk.Police could find only a few eyewitnesses, but eventually concluded that gunmen dressed as police officers had entered the garage and pretended to be arresting the men. Though Moran and others immediately blamed the massacre on Capone s gang, the famous gangster himself claimed to have been at his home in Florida at the time. No one ... • 41. Description Of A Good Friend Dearest Good Friend, After having taken an entire course dedicated to design, I think that I ought to pass on some of the information I learned in the form of some oh so friendly advice. Although you, my good friend who has been seriously considering going into design for some time, may already know a bit about design, I thought it a good idea to let you know about what a few of the sources I have been reading have to say about being a designer. Also, I wanted to let you know what these sources say in regard to the place of designers and of designers work in the larger society. Unfortunately, I will not be able to give you the full run down, but I have chosen the best just for you. Jumping ahead a bit to my summary of findings, I found that designers have special responsibilities lot of them. They have to think about the people with which they work, the consumers of their designs, the manufacturers of their designs, and the nature of the material with which they work. Also, design should not be thought of as a way in which people show mastery and control over the world. To do this is a bad idea because it can have a negative impact on a person s morals. Now that I have given you an overview of my findings, I will let you know more about how I came to these conclusions. In deciding whether designers have any special responsibilities, I found the articles A Buddhist Perspective on Industrial Engineering and the Design of Work by Wei Tau Lee, James A. Blumenthal, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Examples Of Self Destruction In Fahrenheit 451 In a not so distant future, where fireman burn down buildings with books inside of them, instead of putting them out, Ray Bradbury shows the inevitability of self destruction. Montag is a fireman, who has been questioning the ethicality of their work by secretly collecting illegal books for months. Eventually his wife, Mildred pulls the alarm and his boss, Beatty, forces him to burn his own house down. Bradbury s novel, Fahrenheit 451, shows how the rebirth of either an individual or society requires self destruction through the motif of fire, which symbolizes destruction, and Montag s burning of his own house. During the burning of Montag s old life, his tone shows the inevitability and pleasure of self destruction. At the beginning of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Persuasive Speech On Recycling The world is full of people using everyday products made from plastics or styrofoam, from simple things like cups, forks and spoons to expensive electronics such as printers, phones, and TV s. About 300 million tons of plastic is produced globally each year (Raising Awareness of Plastic Waste) and more than 14 million tonnes of polystyrene(styrofoam) are produced every year around the world (Now and forever: The Styrofoam dilemma). With these high amounts being produced each year it is easy to see why our oceans are now filled with these materials which end up damaging our earths ecosystem, marine life, and wild life. Out of the 300 million tons of plastic produced only about 10 percent of that is recycled (Raising Awareness of Plastic Waste) and out of the 14 million tons of styrofoam produced only 56 million pounds of styrofoam are recycled (EPS (Styrofoam) Facts, Figures and Statistics) This means that the majority of plastics and styrofoam end up in landfills or our oceans changing our world for the worst one non recycled item at a time. After reviewing two different Ted Talks, one about recycling plastic by Mike Biddle and one about recycling styrofoam by Ashton Cofer it has become more apparent to me that recycling plastics is extremely important and Mike Biddle has the solution. What is Ted Talks? Ted Talks is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED was established in 1984 as a conference ... Fortis college was my greatest experiance, with the most amazing people people, and teachers. For instance, Wallgreens where my extern is, since I have been there we had about 30 to 40 people transfere from the location they went to all the time, to ours because of great customer service and our speed. It is either on your toes you are good to go, or on your butt all the time out the door kind of thing.
