Respiration is one of the characteristics of ALL LIVING THINGS. In the simplest terms, respiration
simply means breathing . But more formally, the term depends on what type of respiration been
referred to. Essentially, respiration refers to gaseous exchange of unwanted carbon dioxide and much
needed oxygen for the body s use. In direct terms, oxygen is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The product of this process is energy in the form of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), by substrate level
phosphorylation, NADH and FADH2
Simplified reaction: C6H12O6 (s) + 6O2 (g) → 6CO2 (g) + 6 H2O (l) + heat
ΔG = 2880 kJ per mole of C6H12O6
The negative ΔG indicates that the reaction can occur spontaneously.
The reducing potential of NADH and FADH2 is converted to more ATP through an electron transport
chain with oxygen as the terminal electron acceptor . Most of the ATP produced by aerobic cellular
respiration is made by oxidative phosphorylation. This works by the energy released in the
consumption of pyruvate being used to create a chemiosmotic potential by pumping protons across a
membrane. This potential is then used to drive ATP synthase and produce ATP from ADP and a
phosphate group. Biology textbooks often state that 38 ATP molecules can be made per oxidized
glucose molecule during cellular respiration (2 from glycolysis, 2 from the Krebs cycle, and about 34
from the electron transport system). However, this maximum yield is never quite reached due to losses
(leaky membranes) as well as the cost of moving pyruvate and ADP into the mitochondria s matrix
and current estimates range around 29 to 30 ATP per glucose. Cellular Respiration is split into 4
distinct aspects that occur at different parts of the cell. These are glycolysis, Oxidative
decarboxylation of pyruvate, Kreb s Cycle and Oxidative phosphorylation.

Ubcj Pros And Cons
The UBCJA supports issues that will increase worker rights as well as the quality of life of its
members. One of the cores issues of the UBCJA issues is wage and hour laws. Since its founding, the
UBCJA has worked for fair hours and fair pay. Part of this is prevailing wage laws which encompass
an hourly wage as well as benefits and overtime. The UBCJA supports laws concerning wage laws
because it prevents employers taking advantage of its members and ensures that their members are
adequately compensated for their work. They also support more welfare reform. The UBCJA calls for
proper payment of welfare plans for multiple employer workers. These workers often will not receive

The UBCJA voices concern with trade relations with China. The UBCJA opposes the relations as they
feel they are unfair and lead to the loss of millions of United State jobs every year. President
McCarron stated, hurt every member of our union and every worker in the United States. The current
economic downturn has only made those effects worse, ( Chinese Policies ). The UBCJA object
particular to apparent currency manipulation. The UBCJA believes that the Chinse Currency, the
renminbi, is inflexible and doesn t increase in correlation to the increase of exported goods. They
estimate the renminbi inflation to be worth up to 40% more than it actually is. This stance was written
after the UBCJA attended a panel of the Economic Policy Institution in 2010. Robert E. Scott, an
economists for the Economic Policy Institution and author of a paper concerning currency
manipulation, commended UBCJA concern over trade relations and stated, The U.S. government
needs to know that its citizens understand this issue and are prepared to take action at the ballot box if

My Dreaded Enemy, My Dearest Friend
On a cold Sunday morning in February, I woke up dreading the day. I had an essay to write, three
pages of math homework to do, and two biology packets to copy. Four days later I would be having
lunch with my mom, none of my homework done, telling her about the past three days I lived without
her.

Mikayla? Mikayla, can you hear me?
The harsh, bright lights of my bathroom burned my retinas and a man I didn t recognize came into
focus. He looked like the perfect beach: hair the color of sand and eyes the color of seawater. At first, I
thought he was an angel coming to save me. In a way, I guess he was. His navy blue shirt had a crest
and the letters E M T embroidered on the pocket. The tile was as cold as ice. Although it was my
bathroom that I had been in a million times, everything felt foreign. I must have zoned out, I thought.
Yeah, I can hear you, I whispered. I didn t even want to look him in the eyes. My right forearm, leg,
and fingers were crusted with dark crimson blood. What happened? The flash of a fresh razor blade
suddenly sliced through my fuzzy and confused thoughts. Oh. The man quietly wrapped my arm in
gauze. I could hear another man talking to my mom just beyond the bathroom door. She definitely
knows how to take care of things like this. She s managed to stop the bleeding for now, but it may
need stitches. There I sat, curled up in a ball of protection, shame, and fear while they discussed what

Free Will Definition
The concept of free will fundamentally breaks down into the interpretation of its two constituent
words. The word free is a direct link to the concept of freedom, which Descartes describes as the
ability to do or not do something . (O Connor) Freedom is not constrained. There can be no limits
placed on it, lest it lose the fundamental nature of its definition. Hume reasoned that the sense of
freedom linked to free will was that of liberty. that liberty is not a power of acting, but a power of
choosing. If I can do what I want, but I can t choose what I want, then perhaps I am not free
(Lacewing 5) I accept this is the more complete ideal of freedom, because it encompasses what free
will ought to be. It also raises interesting questions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(174) These tend to be determinisms that govern individual action, on a more personal level. The
second facet of determinism is known as global determinism.(174) These include physical,
theological, and logical determinism. Each of these address the idea of determinism from a grander
scale, where actions and events, surrounding an individual, are directly impacted by larger principles
outside of the control of the agent. For example, physical determinism is when everything that exists
or occurs is simply an arrangement of physical particles that conform to the laws of physics. Our
tossing and failing to swish the paper ball in the waste basket was caused by a number of other events,
which includes our choosing to toss the paper, which was also determined by other factors leading up
to our decision. Theological determinism claims everything to be pre determined by God, which is
another essay all in itself. Logical determinism was described as whatever happens later could not
have been otherwise, and can not contradict the truth value of whatever sentence or claim we make at
the moment. This form of determinism is important to the theory I will be

A Brief Note On Voltage Gated Sodium Channels
Abstract
Voltage gated sodium channels are fundamental players in animals physiology. By triggering the
depolarization of the lipid membrane they enable generation and propagation of the action potential.
The involvement of these channels in numerous pathological conditions makes them relevant target
for pharmaceutical intervention. Therefore, modulation of sodium conductance via small molecule
binding constitutes a promising strategy to treat a large variety of diseases. However, this approach
entails significant challenges: voltage gated sodium channels are complex nanomachines and the
details of their workings have only recently started to become clear. Here we review ¬¬ with emphasis
on the computational studies some of the major milestones in the long standing search of a
quantitative microscopic description of the molecular mechanism and modulation of voltage gated
sodium channels.
Introduction: Physiological Role of Voltage Gated Sodium Channels (VGSCs)
Cells respond to stimuli from the environment by enabling the passage of ions across the plasma
membrane, a process that results in the propagation of an electrical signal. Ion channels are the key
players of this process, the membranes of excitable cells are studded with a myriad of these integral
membrane proteins, which transduce chemical and electrical stimuli into currents of charged chemical
species (Hille, 2001). Owing to their pivotal role in cell physiology, a large number of genes encode

The Media s Portrayal Of Body Image In The Media
One of the largest components of the media s portrayal of beauty standards is body shaming, an action
that has exponentially increased with the advancement of technology. Women are exposed daily to
articles in tabloid magazines and gossip websites that shames female celebrities for what they
wearing, claiming that some women with certain body types should not be wearing certain types of
clothing. Young women and girls, who already have tumultuous relationships with their bodies and
their self images, are now subjected to a trend that can severely damage their mental health. Shame
arises when a woman s body image does not match the societal ideal, and a recent study found that
women who reported high levels of body shame also reported high levels of hopeless depression,
showing a correlation between the two (Evans). When women are repeatedly told that their bodies are
unacceptable to a societal ideal, it can cause them to feel as if they will never reach this impossible
standard, leading to hopeless depression. The fat shaming trend can be apparent in many forms of
media, and it is not always directed at women. An advertisements for the children s movie Red Shoes
and the 7 Dwarves exemplifies the body shaming movie. The advertisement depicts a tall and thin
Snow White standing next to a shorter and heavier image of herself, with the tag line What if Snow
White was no longer beautiful and the 7 dwarves not so short? (Ferguson). The advertisement

In Russia, IKEA has been operating since 1991, but did not have an open store until March 2000. The
first store opened in Russia being in Khimki (Moscow). After March 2000, more stores have been
creating. Since opening the first store IKEA has poured over $4 billion in the country. Russia became
a good consumer that is why, IKEA plans to open more stores in Russia even with the minor setback
with dealing with the government.
Current Marketing Strategy The strategy of the IKEA group in Russia was to invest in a market which
can give a big profit in a long term. While the other foreign companies started leaving their businesses
from Russia, Ingvar Kamprad saw a big opportunity there, and started investing in the Russian market.
The result was good, in Ingvar s words: IKEA becomes the main supplier of home furniture to the
normal Russian families and our sales in Russia will exceed those in our old home country Sweden
(International Marketing, N. Ghauri amp; Cateora, 2010). The fact that Ingvar was the only owner
who wanted to keep his company in Russia may give IKEA more power and a better competitive
advantage in the future. The IKEA group sells quality furniture at a low price, to maintain a strong
competitor. For that, the company has to try to cut cost without losing quality in the products that it
sells. IKEA organized their stores in a different way than its competitors. While its competitors put its

What Role Do Girl Scouts Play In Ww1
World War One was an unforgettable era. The war stole millions of lives from both sides who fought.
It rattled citizen s faith in their country. People lost brothers, sisters, fathers and mothers. It was an era
that is buried in people s minds and they may never forget it. World War One began when a Serbian
assassinated Archduke Ferdinand of Austria Hungary on June 28th, 1914. Shortly after the
assassination, Austria declared war on Serbia. Several days later Germany had declared war on Russia
and France. As the war progressed other countries started to take sides and participate in the war.
However, the United States hadn t decided to join the war until April 6th, 1917. The U.S remained
neutral until Germany started to sink U.S ships that were carrying food and supplies to Britain. One of
the ships they sunk was the Lusitania. They sunk the ship without giving any warning and killed 128
Americans. A little while later, Germany sunk a French ship that ended up killing even more
Americans. After the second sunken ship Germany and the U.S made a pact. Germany agreed not to ...

would play all clear signals on bugles after air raids had passed. Some children were paid to collect
conkers, which were used to make explosives. Children would also help to knit socks and scarves for
troops during winter. Sadly, some boys would lie about their age so that they would be allowed to

when he joined, fortunately he was sent back home at the age of 13 after fighting in one of the war s

Status Of Women In Victorian England Essay
We certainly can t pick our families, though I am sure many of us have had thoughts of what life
would be like if we were born into a different lifestyle. While your ascribed status is the status you
were born into, your achieved status is what you achieve during your life. Oftentimes people will let
their circumstances dictate what they become, but those striving to attain a higher status will usually
find a way to change their circumstances if possible. One great example would be of women in
Victorian England. Women during this era were given no legal status whatsoever. Typically women
born within a higher class would have a better chance of marriage and lifestyle. They would still have
no rights, but may live in comfort. Women born

Generally, for long term decision making such as determining which product lines to discontinue or
promote and what price to set on these products requires all costs in the value chain to be considered.
When making short term decision in relation to existing products, managers may only choose to
consider manufacturing and downstream costs as upstream costs have already been incurred. (refer to
appendix)
Additionally, product costs may be used in assisting with planning and control. Managers may need to
obtain reliable cost estimates for planning purposes, as budgets are set. If costs vary and are frequently
subject to change then decision making will not be effective. By comparing actual costs to planned
costs, current costs can be controlled.
Managers must assess the product profitability of a product so they are able to make optimal decisions
about product mix and set appropriate prices. The true cost to produce a product can be exposed and
any possible reduction in the cost to produce this good can be identified. Additionally, non value
adding activities may be identified and eliminated. This will prevent underpricing for a good where
the company mistakenly believes profits are possible when true costs and profitability are hidden
under inadequate analysis.
However, when deciding to obtain additional information to facilitate managerial decision making, as
always, costs and benefits of their use must firstly be taken into account. The needs of

Afghan Drug Trafficking
Drug trafficking is an international trade entailing the planting, manufacture, disbursement, as well as
sale of substances that are subject to drug ban rules. It is amid the most profitable unlawful businesses,
which prevails all over the globe. Currently, there are numerous illicit groups, which every year make
profits from drug trade (Lacher, 2013). Fighting drugs is a contemporary issue, challenging crime
management. Heroin and cocaine are the main drugs, which has had a long standing in the
international scene. Heroin is produced in large scale in Afghan, while cocaine production is

The criminal organizations are large and widespread all through the nations of their operation, which
makes it possible to convince farmers on the need to cultivate opium and coca. Because many of these
rural farmers are poor, it is easy for drug traffickers to convince them, via incentives, on the financial
benefits arising from drug manufacturing. Drug traffickers in Afghan have a close association with
terrorist organizations, as well as insurgents like the al Qaeda and Taliban. Research demonstrates that
the Taliban and al Qaeda generate a lot of income from unlawful drug trade in Afghanistan. The
groups are an international threat, when dealing with the problem of crime management, which makes
it even difficult for the Afghan administration to ban the criminal organization groups involvement in
heroin trade. In South America, drug trafficking is an organized business, where different groups are
in charge of manufacture, while other distribute the drug. From the 1990s, the Cali and Medellin
groups, had exclusive regulation in the making and selling of cocaine internationally. However, after
Pablo Escobar s passing away, and incarceration of Rodriguez brothers, the individuals leading the
organizations, the organized trade became decentralized to other criminal organizations. For instance,
Colombia s armed organizations are significantly engaged in drug trade. Currently, different

does not participate.
Participant
In participant observation, the researcher becomes, or is, part of the group that is being investigated.
Participant observation has its roots in ethnographic studies (study of man and races) where
researchers would live in tribal villages, attempting to understand the customs and practices of that
culture. It has a very extensive literature, particularly in sociology (development, nature and laws of
human society) and anthropology (physiological and psychological study of man). Organizations can
be viewed as tribes with their own customs and practices.
Advantages
1)Helps capture the behavior of customers directly.
Disadvantages;
1)Time consuming and costly exercise.
2) Personal biasness of investigators will distort the findings.

Islam, Islam And The Beliefs Of Islam
Religion is the belief of a God, or Gods, and there are many different types of religion. Each religion
has different systems of worship and believes in some different things. Even though every religion is a
little different, sometimes they have some things in common also. Islam is a religion that believes in
one, eternal God, named Allah. The word of Allah is spoken from the angel named Gabriel, to
Muhammad. Muhammad is the founder of the Islamic religion. He was born in Mecca, Saudi Arabia,
which is where the religion was founded, and he died in the year 632 A.D. Islam was founded in the
beginning of the seventh century. Like stated earlier, Muslims believe in one God. They also believe in
the angels, who are respected creatures, they believe in God s revealed books, including the Quran,
they believe in the Prophets and Messengers of God, where Muhammad was the last Prophet sent by
God, they believe in the Day of Judgement, which is when everybody will be resurrected based on
their beliefs and achievements, and they believe in Al Qadar, where God gives people free will.
Practicing and worshipping in this religion, has some rules, or standard guidelines, for everyday lifes.
These are called the Five Pillars of Faith. These include, Shahadah, Salah, Zakah, Sawm, and Hajj. To
start off with, Shahadah is the assertion of belief. It s when the people of the Islamic religion indicate
that there is only one God, and that Muhammad is his prophet. Next, Salah is the routine

Enter Three Witches Pros And Cons
A Critique of Enter Three Witches The book Enter Three Witches: A Story of Macbeth by Caroline B.
Cooney gives an account of fictional characters that could have existed in the play Macbeth by
William Shakespeare. The bookfollows the lives of Lady Mary, Ildred, Swin, Seyton, and Fleance.
The idea behind the book was ingenious and had many good qualities, but there were also some cons.
Frist to address the pros. Caroline Cooney did an excellent job on staying true to the story of Macbeth,
while showing it in the eyes of different characters. The characters also in her book were very well
rounded and the connection between a character and a reader is certainly there. For example, Swin in
the beginning of the story seemed like the oppressor

Argumentative Essay On Bull Fighting
Bull Fighting has been a tradition in Spain for centuries. Bullfighting traces its roots to prehistoric
worshiping and sacrificing of bulls. The killing of a sacred bull is called tauromachy and was a central
iconic act of the Mithras (Total Spain 2016). It has become a part of the Spanish culture and due to
this, it is seen as art and tradition to people. Fans do not look at bull fighting as a sport but instead
view it as a ritualistic event that conveys artistic expression and also view it as a form of dance. It is
argued that this an important part of the Spanish culture and because of this some see nothing ethically
wrong in the situation. It is a hard argument to fight when you try to argue against a cultural belief.

Bull fighting has been made illegal in most countries and this shows how most people view this act as
inhumane. It is even a controversial issue in Spain, the country in which holds the tradition. When you
see an animal do a trick for you, you may think that it is amazing an animal can do that, but the
training in some cases that animals go through to perform those tricks is inhumane. Snake charming is
when a snake appears to dance to the music of a flutist. How the flutist gets the snake to do this is
where the problem occurs. Physical abuse is the way the trainer gets the snake to act in this matter
(manner?) and the snake is moving in fear of the moving flute (Tiplady 2013). Another type of animal
training that involves abuse is when it comes to dancing bears. The bears are taken from their mothers
at a young age and put through unnecessary pain. The young bears are castrated and have their canines
removed. A rope is then is inserted through their muzzle and the pulling of the rope is what causes the
bear to dance (Tiplady 2013).
Circuses began as small shows based on equestrian acts but have evolved into large shows that
involve multiple species of animals and acts. The use of the animals in the circus has become a
controversial issue, mainly towards the treatment of the elephants. Specifically involving the ethics of
taking the animal out of its natural habitat,

Theme Of Nobility In Julius Caesar
The Noblest of Rome
How could one determine whether a man is noble or not? How could one judge the extent of someone
s nobility? Throughout history, there are plenty of stories where the nobility of men have been tested.
William Shakespeare is known for writing stories where the nobility of men is heavily tested. In
Shakespeare s play, Julius Caesar, there are plenty of men who love Rome and would do anything for
the goodness of Rome. Caesar was willing to give up lots of his money for the Roman citizens. Brutus
killed his best friend because he felt that he was doing good for
Rome. But Antony is the noblest of them all because he avenges Caesar s death, he stays loyal to

However, as he is expressing his feelings to Antony, Antony states, Fear him not, Caesar; he s not
dangerous; He is a noble Roman, and well given (Shakespeare 9). Even though Cassius does turn out
to be behind the plot to assassinate Caesar, Antony views him as a noble man.
Antony sees when someone s intentions are good, even if they have a bad plan of action. Antony is
able to recognize nobility in men even if they have committed treacherous deeds.
Antony shows his nobility by avenging the death of Caesar, staying loyal to Caesar all the time, and
being able to recognize the nobility within a man, even if he is his enemy. Antony is able to follow
through and avenge Caesar s death by convincing the people of Rome that Brutus is not all honorable
and that Caesar did not deserve to die, which allows for the civil war to begin and ultimately kills
Brutus. Antony is loyal from the beginning of the play and after Caesar s death. Antony will do
anything for Caesar while he was alive and continues to take care of his name after his death. Even

Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks Essay
The premise of the novel (Year of Wonders) could be seen as the antithesis of a journey as the
villagers voluntarily agree to undertake a quarantine, which means they literally cannot go anywhere.
In what way does this text represent a journey?
Though the characters in Year of Wonders are unable to take a physical journey due to their actions,
their circumstances cause them to embark on many spiritual, mental and emotional journeys through
the course of the novel. Anna Frith, for instance, is forced during the plague year to overcome the
deaths of her sons and family, and take upon many new roles that she otherwise would not have. The
text also takes the reader on an imaginative journey. With characters that show human failings and its

This is also shown through her learning of medicine under Elinor Mompellion, as the death and
suffering around her act as a catalyst for her to undertake these studies, so that she may fight the
plague in some way.
Anna also undertakes a spiritual journey over the course of the book. Her learning of the villages
Rector, Michael Mompellion s true thoughts near the novels end, as well as her realisations on the
nature of some of the other villagers causes her to question her Christian faith and its restrictions it
places on her in the society she lives in. This can be seen in her accepting view of the Muslim faith in
the epilogue.
Year of Wonders can also be seen as taking the reader on an imaginative journey. Through reading the
book we can imagine ourselves in the time at which the characters live, faced by their same decisions.
Geraldine Brooks has helped further this in a number of ways. The story is told in a first person
perspective, allowing the reader to understand Anna s feelings and attitudes. Period dialogue is used to
help transport the reader into the time and place in which the novel is set. Geraldine Brooks has paid
particular attention into giving the majority of the characters secret failings for instance, the Rectors
beliefs causing him to punish his wife, and Aphra, Anna s Mother s decline into madness and
superstition. This has the effect of making them seem more human

Biography Of Auguste Rodin s The Gates Of Hell
Auguste Rodin has a number of awe inspiring pieces, ranging in medium, size, and location. Outside
the massive cluster in Paris, they pop up in the most unusual places, such as Philadelphia, Seoul,
Tokyo, and Raleigh. What is even more interesting is that many of Rodin s pieces were designed to be
part of a single great piece, a massive pair of doors, intended for an art museum that grew into
something much more. This piece is Rodin s Gates of Hell. The gates are particularly significant to the
world of art, not only for the sculptural mastery they display, but also for being a rather revolutionary
piece in regards to the physical build and the emotion provocation. They display the characteristic
Rodin flair for emotional content, perhaps ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his creation techniques, Rodin used a casting technique, where he would first make the sculpture
out of clay or plaster, and then it to someone else to be cast and glazed into the blackened bronze look
he is so well known for. Perhaps this spare time allowed him to create more prolifically, as he made
multiple copies of many pieces, ranging in size. He would also often also combine separate pieces
with modification to create a new piece, many of which are well known. His gates are remarkable
because of this dedication, taking the typical relief method of only having only slight amounts of
depth created, to having the surface of the gates roiling with sinners pulling away from the slab, their
bodies protruding outwards. Theses gates excluded a number of motifs from a variety of places, which
leads, in turn, back to speculation on the influences Rodin had while designing them. The main
influences on the gates include Rodin s personal and professional life, The Inferno, and artists and
writers of the times. A relief is a sculpture done on a slab, with rationally layer being taken away or
added to create depth, without any main protrusions from the slab. Casting is a complex process, but
ultimately results in in a hollow metal replica of the sculpted. The pieces are ground down to remove
any imperfections, then finished with coats of metal oxides, known as a patina, that react with the
bronze and produces the

The past plays a big part in the future when it comes to dividends, if there has been a strong growth in
dividends in the past then future dividend growth is predicted signaling a strong bottom line and
profits for the company.
Advantages of the DDM are that it is frequently used when calculating share prices, due to it being
easily taught and its simplicity making it easy to understand. DDM also has the ability to give value to
a company s stock, disregarding the current market making it easy to compare across different
companies and industries big or small. Another advantage is the models rely firmly on theory and also
its ability to stay consistent over the lifetime of the company.
Disadvantages of the DDM include the model itself not appreciating certain factors such as customer
and brand loyalty and the ownership of intangible assets. Factors that are vital towards the success
value of a company. Another disadvantage is the DDM being highly dependent on the assumption of
the company s growth in dividends believing that it s rate is stable and known. DDM states the fact
that stock prices are fragile to the chosen growth rate of dividends, eliminating the ability for the rate
to surpass the cost of equity, which in some cases isn t always

Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun never shared an intimate moment together or so it seems (Nobody knew
Hitler s true sexuality so this may of had an impact)(3).Their relationship was strictly domestic and
relaxatory rather than the usual erotic relationship that many couples share today(9). They were
merely close friends that thrived off of each others joy and companionship in times of need(3).
Another part of their relationship that was different than most is that it was completely private. Hitler
and Eva rarely appeared in public together(9). Even if they did, they would not sit together or give any
evidence that they were even acquaintances of one another(8). This was hard on Eva, as she longed for
his attention. She would often cry when he was not around and it was apparent that he had a
significant impact on her mood. She even went to lengths as trying to take her own life at one point in
time because she did not think she would ever be good enough for him(3). This proved to change the
views that Hitler had on the relationship, as it started to drastically change(8). Soon after the incident
they moved in together and Eva started to arrange gatherings for Hitler s closest friends otherwise
known as his inner circle . It was not long after that they started to live together that they were
married. It was in April of 1945 in Berlin where the ceremony happened, tragically a day before both
of their deaths. Although they were close companions for many years, Eva never did

1979 Education
Education policy has developed in the UK since the Thatcher period because when Margaret Thatcher
became Prime Minister, the governance of education was largely unchanged since the first world war.
In schools, there was no national curriculum, no parental choice, no systematic means of monitoring
performance, no publication of examination results beyond what schools themselves chose to reveal.
Local authorities drew up catchment areas, and they decided which children went to which school, and
distributed funds, specifying what should be spent on teachers salaries, repairs, books and other items.

Northwood Idea
The Northwood Idea Project
Is the Northwood Idea relevant today? By now you all have read and formulated an opinion upon the
relevance of the Northwood idea. Some of you may agree totally, while others may completely
disagree. At the core of the Northwood Idea is the notion of developing the character of the student

to the Judeo Christian ethic by means of following the golden rule, emphasizing work and thrift, and
understanding the importance of business.

that the average Chinese citizen believes in a free market economy. I find that interesting because of

simply uneducated to the issue or you could say that they are not happy in the system that they are

We always hear that America is the land of opportunity so the perception of the free market, at least on

Wildwood Lake Canoe Company Casse Study Essay
Wildwood Lake Canoe Company
In January 2010, Allan Monroe was preparing for the April opening of the Wildwood Lake Canoe
Company (WLC), a canoe manufacturing shop in St. Mary s, Ontario. Monroe planned to build 30
canoes per year and he wondered what strategy and tactics would maximize his profits.
The initiative for WLC evolved from Monroe s canoeing and woodworking hobbies. Monroe had
canoed recreationally for more than 20 years and had built three canoes, which he sold after using
them each for a season. Last spring, when Monroe decided to purchase a canoe for the first time, he
suffered what he described as sticker shock. He could not believe the price and poor quality of retail

Monroe planned to produce 30 canoes in the first year and average one canoe every ten days, which
would leave 65 days to buffer any unforeseen production delays[1]. Monroe would have to work
seven days a week to maintain the production pace; however, he felt that he could handle a seven day
schedule for two to three years. Although the first canoes were scheduled to take almost 12 days to
build, manufacturing time would gradually decrease. Monroe knew that he would have to invest in
some equipment which would include an estimated $5,530 for power equipment and accessories; hand
tools at $835; cutters, blades and bits at $800; benches, stands and cabinets for $1,600; forms and jigs
for $160; and office equipment for $3,055. Monroe projected that variable costs would total $1,161
per canoe[2] and annual operating expenses would total $8,644[3].
The market for canoes followed the business cycle. In recessions, canoe sales suffered as many
prospective customers stopped recreational spending. Sales of premium priced canoes were especially
vulnerable. The statistics showed that many companies were unable to survive the recent recession
that began in 2008; however, industry sales had been strong and improving over the past year or so.
Monroe was optimistic that growth would continue in the immediate future.
Promotion would consist of a website, advertisements in canoeing magazines and

Egyptian Creation Myth Vs Greek Mythology
Myths are clearly important to a mythology, and there always seems to be two very important myths
one needs to know about in a mythology. How they believe the earth and the gods came to be and the
afterlife for the mortals. The Egyptian creation myth is not very detailed, most likely due to how it
was originally written and years of being told and retold. According to Donald A. Mackenzie, in the
book Egyptian Myth and Legend, Ra was the first god and was the one who created or helped created
the original eight deities. Shu (god of wind and air), Tefnut (goddess of rain), Seb (god of the earth or
ground), and Nut (goddess of firmament) where the first four gods, then Seb and Nut created Osiris,
Isis, Set, and Nephthys (1 2). Though in some tellings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alexander Eliot, who wrote the book Myth, states that in the creation of the begin with Gaea, who is
considered the goddess of the earth and is the earth itself (82). Gaea and her husband, Uranus (who
was the god of the sky) filled the lands with their children. But Uranus did not love his kids, in fact, he
hated them so much that he had them locked away within Gaea. Among these children were the
Titans, and Gaea begged for them to get rid of Uranus so that they could roam free. The youngest
Titan named Cronus agreed to get rid of his father and took sickle from his mother before heading
above ground. Once he found Uranus, Cronus chopped him into small pieces and scattered him around
the earth, which sprouted furies from his blood and Aphrodite from his testicles. Before he died
though, Uranus told Cronus that Cronus s own son would take down Cronus. Due to his father s
words, Cronus would eat his kids as soon as they were born in order to remain in power. However,
Rhea, Cronus s wife, tricked him into eating a rock wrapped in a blanket instead of devouring Zeus
and years later Zeus overthrew Cronus (82). Now, there are clear differences between the two myths
such as one being much more detailed than the other and in the Egyptian myth the gods were created
and there was nothing before them. But there is one theme that connects the Greek s myth about
creation and the Egyptian myth about Isis, Ra, and the Snake. The idea of power and doing anything
to get it. Isis was more than willing to almost kill her grandfather and/or her creator to be more
powerful. Uranus locked away his kids, then Cronus ate his kids to stop from being overthrown.
Ironically, the underworld and judgment is not as harsh as the creation of the world, granted it is not
the particularly great either. The book was

dominant society, A house wife . Nora is shown as Helmer s doll wife, as he treats her like a child. He
believed that she had no idea about the real world and that he must be there to take care of her. Torvald
call his wife by a nickname, my little squirrel, my little lark, which means that he had always thought
of his wife like a little child (Ibsen 229). Even Mr. Linde says, My dear! Small Household care and
that sort of thing! You are a child, Nora (Ibsen 235). This shows that Nora is not just dominated by her
husband but that her maid also dominates him. But the dispute in her family arises

Enduring Love Alternate Ending Essay
Chapter one ***Carson s P.O.V*** Well, maybe I don t want to pretend to be your boyfriend. Did the
fact that I am gay slip your mind? I asked Cassidy, who seemed to be bouncing off the walls today.
She sent me a deathly glare. Who cares? There s a load of gross guys staring at us right now. I rolled
my eyes. More like staring at you, genius. Cassidy frowned at me before smiling. Come on, just even
a hug or something? Quick, wrap your arm around my waist, Jeremy s staring at me. I stared at her in
disbelief. You do know that this completely ruins the whole out of the closet thing I ve got going on,
right? She frowned. You re rude. I laughed. Just go get yourself some guy...or a girl. She nodded at a
girl who was bending over, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s completely normal. You were only three when he left. And if you remember him, you d know that
he wasn t a very nice person and it s better that he s gone. Sam smiled. Thanks for taking care of me. I
smiled back and ruffled his hair. I heard the front door open and close, so I knew that mum was here
and that I could leave for work. ~♡~ I arrived at Mr Wood s own home to fix his leaking tap and was
greeted by Mrs Wood, who loved me to bits. As I was working, she was talking to me, telling me how
her day was and asking about mine. I smiled, loving our conversations. Her face lit up. Do you want
cookies? I made them this afternoon! And there s some orange juice in the fridge. I knew that she d be
offended if I said no, so I smiled. I d love some. So she grabbed her tray of cookies, setting some on a
plate and poured a cup of orange juice. Okay, come sit with me. Have a break, so we can chat. I was
eating and chatting with Mrs Wood, when Oliver walked in. Mum, who are you talking too. He
groaned when he saw my face and looked at his mum. What is he doing here again? Mrs Wood
smiled. Oh, the poor love has been working on our plumbing for half an hour! Oliver frowned. Half an
hour? What the hell have you been

How Junk Food Can End Obesity
In David Freedman s article, How Junk Food Can End Obesity (2013), he begins by discussing his
endeavors to search for wholesome food. He continues to come across food items that claim to be
healthy and void of processed junk, but all he finds are items high in calories or the expense is too
much for an average American. He argues that wholesome foods are actually just as bad, if not even
worse, than junk food and that the Big Food industry has the technology available to make food
healthier, but still retain its appeal. Freedman mentions continuously throughout his article that
Americans who are most at risk of becoming obese are those who cannot afford healthy foods,
completely defeating the purpose of the wholefoods movement. He ... Show more content on

The solution, in his view, is to replace Big Food s engineered, edible evil through public education and
regulation with fresh, unprocessed, local, seasonal, real food. (Freedman). Pollan has increased spite
for nutritionism, which is the idea behind packing healthier ingredients into processed foods which is
what Freedman is advocating for. Pollan s view is much the same as some scientists, food activists,
nutritionists, and celebrity chefs. He has had such an influence that the Silicon Valley caters to the
wholefoods movement and the progression to familiarizing the masses with simpler eating habits
(Freedman). However, being an area full of technological endeavors, the Silicon Valley sees
technology as the culprit as well. The New York Times Magazine s food writer, Mark Bittman also
shares views with Pollan. In fact, Bittman has even written a cookbook on how to eat better. While
most are more wholesome there are still few recipes that are high in fat. One of his recipes consists of
corn being sautéed in bacon fat and then topped with bacon (Freedman).
Freedman argues that technology would help revolutionize the American diet. He supports this with
his experiences to different restaurants and how good the food was, how much it cost him, and then
whether or not the food itself is actually good for the body. His experiences allows the reader to
connect with Freedman, by showing that he also struggles with the never ending fight to eat

Modern Transformers And Electric Power Systems
Large power modern transformers are vital components and very expensive in electric power systems.
Forthwith, it is very important to reduce the duration and frequency of unwanted outages that results
in a high demand imposed on power transformer protection relays, this includes the requirements of
dependability related with no mal operations, operating speed related with short fault clearing time to
avoid extensive damage or to preserve power quality and power system stability and security related
with no false tripping.
Discrimination between inrush currents and internal faults has long been known as a challenging
power transformer protection problem. Otherwise, inrush currents contain large second harmonic
component compared to internal faults, conventional transformer protection are designed to achieve
required discrimination by sensing that large second harmonic content [1]. The level of second
harmonic component of the inrush current has been reduced due to improving in transformer core
material and occur power system changes. Additionally, a large second harmonic can also be found in
transformer internal fault currents if a shunt capacitor is connected to a transformer in a long extra
high voltage transmission line. Therefore, the methods based on the measurement of the second
harmonic are not sufficiently effective for differential protective relays [2].
Newly, several new protective schemes have been proposed to deal with the previous problem in large
power

Integration Of Airpower
Airpower in the United States has had a contentious history and even today still raises a lot of debate.1
Leading up to the Second World War, airpower became a significant component of America s fighting
force. America began to recognize that it had a superior air force and began integrating that
technology as part of its military strategy but not before overcoming significant integration challenges.
Airpower had a decisive effect on the way victory in war is declared. Japan s attack on Pearl Harbor
and the U.S. Army s retaliation on Hiroshima and Nagasaki are testament to the effectiveness of the
utilization of airpower assets. In this example, it was clear that airpower was to become the frontier of
the future despite the difficulties in introducing this culture shift to the U.S. Army.2 During the run up
to the Second World War and during the period of its occurrence till its end, there existed strong
sentiments with regards to how effective airpower would be in the war. There were arguments
regarding its effectiveness with detractors pointing out instances such as Combined Bomber Offensive
in Europe and its failure to win the war. Another point of detraction was that war cannot be won
without ground offensives that lead the way for the airpower assets to strike. In fact, airpower
advantage was not as decisive as praised.3 However, the reasons for difficulty in integration were
more than just those instances. A major talking point during this augmentation of

Blue Crab Research Paper
The blue crab, Callinectes sapidus, is one of the most familiar inhabitants of marshes and waterways
along the Atlantic and GMx coasts of North America. The abundance of blue crab larvae and juveniles
make them important components of the diets of numerous species of fish, invertebrate and avian
predators (Van Engel 1987, Guillory and Elliot 2001). As juveniles and adults, blue crabs act as
generalist predators on benthic infauna and epifauna; consuming invertebrates, fish, and crustaceans
(including other blue crabs) as well as plant and detrital materials (Darnell 1958, Alexander 1986,
Meise and Stehlik 2003, Lipcius et al. 2007). It has been proposed that blue crabs are keystone species
in the marsh because of their impact as predators

NOUTCHA DATE : 7TH MARCH, 2013 INTRODUCTION Respiration is one of the characteristics of ALL LIVING THINGS. In the simplest terms, respiration simply means breathing . Essentially, respiration refers to gaseous exchange of unwanted carbon dioxide and much needed oxygen for the body s use. In direct terms, oxygen is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The product of this process is energy in the form of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), by substrate level phosphorylation, NADH and FADH2 Simplified reaction: C6H12O6 (s) + 6O2 (g) → 6CO2 (g) + 6 H2O (l) + heat ΔG = 2880 kJ per mole of C6H12O6 The negative ΔG indicates that the reaction can occur spontaneously. The reducing potential of NADH and FADH2 is converted to more ATP through an electron transport chain with oxygen as the terminal electron acceptor . Most of the ATP produced by aerobic cellular respiration is made by oxidative phosphorylation. This works by the energy released in the consumption of pyruvate being used to create a chemiosmotic potential by pumping protons across a membrane. This potential is then used to drive ATP synthase and produce ATP from ADP and a phosphate group. Biology textbooks often state that 38 ATP molecules can be made per oxidized glucose molecule during cellular respiration (2 from glycolysis, 2 from the Krebs cycle, and about 34 from the electron transport system). However, this maximum yield is never quite reached due to losses (leaky membranes) as well as the cost of moving pyruvate and ADP into the mitochondria s matrix and current estimates range around 29 to 30 ATP per glucose. Cellular Respiration is split into 4 distinct aspects that occur at different parts of the cell. These are glycolysis, Oxidative decarboxylation of pyruvate, Kreb s Cycle and Oxidative phosphorylation. GLYCOLYSIS Glycolysis is a metabolic

I had an essay to write, three pages of math homework to do, and two biology packets to copy. Four days later I would be having lunch with my mom, none of my homework done, telling her about the past three days I lived without her. *** Mikayla? Mikayla, can you hear me? The harsh, bright lights of my bathroom burned my retinas and a man I didn t recognize came into focus. He looked like the perfect beach: hair the color of sand and eyes the color of seawater. At first, I thought he was an angel coming to save me. In a way, I guess he was. His navy blue shirt had a crest and the letters E M T embroidered on the pocket. The tile was as cold as ice. Although it was my bathroom that I had been in a million times, everything felt foreign. I must have zoned out, I thought. Yeah, I can hear you, I whispered. I didn t even want to look him in the eyes. My right forearm, leg, and fingers were crusted with dark crimson blood. What happened? The flash of a fresh razor blade suddenly sliced through my fuzzy and confused thoughts. Oh. The man quietly wrapped my arm in gauze. I could hear another man talking to my mom just beyond the bathroom door. She definitely knows how to take care of things like this. The word free is a direct link to the concept of freedom, which Descartes describes as the ability to do or not do something . (O Connor) Freedom is not constrained. There can be no limits placed on it, lest it lose the fundamental nature of its definition. Hume reasoned that the sense of freedom linked to free will was that of liberty. that liberty is not a power of acting, but a power of choosing. If I can do what I want, but I can t choose what I want, then perhaps I am not free (Lacewing 5) I accept this is the more complete ideal of freedom, because it encompasses what free will ought to be. • 7. A Brief Note On Voltage Gated Sodium Channels Abstract Voltage gated sodium channels are fundamental players in animals physiology. By triggering the depolarization of the lipid membrane they enable generation and propagation of the action potential. The involvement of these channels in numerous pathological conditions makes them relevant target for pharmaceutical intervention. Therefore, modulation of sodium conductance via small molecule binding constitutes a promising strategy to treat a large variety of diseases. However, this approach entails significant challenges: voltage gated sodium channels are complex nanomachines and the details of their workings have only recently started to become clear. Here we review ¬¬ with emphasis on the computational studies some of the major milestones in the long standing search of a quantitative microscopic description of the molecular mechanism and modulation of voltage gated sodium channels. Introduction: Physiological Role of Voltage Gated Sodium Channels (VGSCs) Cells respond to stimuli from the environment by enabling the passage of ions across the plasma membrane, a process that results in the propagation of an electrical signal. Ion channels are the key players of this process, the membranes of excitable cells are studded with a myriad of these integral membrane proteins, which transduce chemical and electrical stimuli into currents of charged chemical species (Hille, 2001). Owing to their pivotal role in cell physiology, a large number of genes encode for ion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Media s Portrayal Of Body Image In The Media One of the largest components of the media s portrayal of beauty standards is body shaming, an action that has exponentially increased with the advancement of technology. Women are exposed daily to articles in tabloid magazines and gossip websites that shames female celebrities for what they wearing, claiming that some women with certain body types should not be wearing certain types of clothing. Young women and girls, who already have tumultuous relationships with their bodies and their self images, are now subjected to a trend that can severely damage their mental health. Shame arises when a woman s body image does not match the societal ideal, and a recent study found that women who reported high levels of body shame also reported high levels of hopeless depression, showing a correlation between the two (Evans). When women are repeatedly told that their bodies are unacceptable to a societal ideal, it can cause them to feel as if they will never reach this impossible standard, leading to hopeless depression. The fat shaming trend can be apparent in many forms of media, and it is not always directed at women. An advertisements for the children s movie Red Shoes and the 7 Dwarves exemplifies the body shaming movie. The advertisement depicts a tall and thin Snow White standing next to a shorter and heavier image of herself, with the tag line What if Snow White was no longer beautiful and the 7 dwarves not so short? • 28. Argumentative Essay On Bull Fighting Bull Fighting has been a tradition in Spain for centuries. Bullfighting traces its roots to prehistoric worshiping and sacrificing of bulls. The killing of a sacred bull is called tauromachy and was a central iconic act of the Mithras (Total Spain 2016). It has become a part of the Spanish culture and due to this, it is seen as art and tradition to people. Fans do not look at bull fighting as a sport but instead view it as a ritualistic event that conveys artistic expression and also view it as a form of dance. Bull fighting has been made illegal in most countries and this shows how most people view this act as inhumane. It is even a controversial issue in Spain, the country in which holds the tradition. When you see an animal do a trick for you, you may think that it is amazing an animal can do that, but the training in some cases that animals go through to perform those tricks is inhumane. Snake charming is when a snake appears to dance to the music of a flutist. How the flutist gets the snake to do this is where the problem occurs. Physical abuse is the way the trainer gets the snake to act in this matter (manner?) and the snake is moving in fear of the moving flute (Tiplady 2013). Another type of animal training that involves abuse is when it comes to dancing bears. The bears are taken from their mothers at a young age and put through unnecessary pain. The young bears are castrated and have their canines removed. A rope is then is inserted through their muzzle and the pulling of the rope is what causes the bear to dance (Tiplady 2013). Circuses began as small shows based on equestrian acts but have evolved into large shows that involve multiple species of animals and acts. The use of the animals in the circus has become a controversial issue, mainly towards the treatment of the elephants. In his creation techniques, Rodin used a casting technique, where he would first make the sculpture out of clay or plaster, and then it to someone else to be cast and glazed into the blackened bronze look he is so well known for. Perhaps this spare time allowed him to create more prolifically, as he made multiple copies of many pieces, ranging in size. He would also often also combine separate pieces with modification to create a new piece, many of which are well known. His gates are remarkable because of this dedication, taking the typical relief method of only having only slight amounts of depth created, to having the surface of the gates roiling with sinners pulling away from the slab, their bodies protruding outwards. Theses gates excluded a number of motifs from a variety of places, which leads, in turn, back to speculation on the influences Rodin had while designing them. The main influences on the gates include Rodin s personal and professional life, The Inferno, and artists and writers of the times. A relief is a sculpture done on a slab, with rationally layer being taken away or added to create depth, without any main protrusions from the slab. Although the first canoes were scheduled to take almost 12 days to build, manufacturing time would gradually decrease. How they believe the earth and the gods came to be and the afterlife for the mortals. Gaea and her husband, Uranus (who was the god of the sky) filled the lands with their children. But Uranus did not love his kids, in fact, he hated them so much that he had them locked away within Gaea. Among these children were the Titans, and Gaea begged for them to get rid of Uranus so that they could roam free. The youngest Titan named Cronus agreed to get rid of his father and took sickle from his mother before heading above ground. Once he found Uranus, Cronus chopped him into small pieces and scattered him around the earth, which sprouted furies from his blood and Aphrodite from his testicles. Before he died though, Uranus told Cronus that Cronus s own son would take down Cronus. Due to his father s words, Cronus would eat his kids as soon as they were born in order to remain in power. However, Rhea, Cronus s wife, tricked him into eating a rock wrapped in a blanket instead of devouring Zeus and years later Zeus overthrew Cronus (82). Now, there are clear differences between the two myths such as one being much more detailed than the other and in the Egyptian myth the gods were created and there was nothing before them. But there is one theme that connects the Greek s myth about creation and the Egyptian myth about Isis, Ra, and the Snake. The idea of power and doing anything to get it. I heard the front door open and close, so I knew that mum was here and that I could leave for work. ~♡~ I arrived at Mr Wood s own home to fix his leaking tap and was greeted by Mrs Wood, who loved me to bits. As I was working, she was talking to me, telling me how her day was and asking about mine. I smiled, loving our conversations. Her face lit up. Do you want cookies? I made them this afternoon! And there s some orange juice in the fridge. I knew that she d be offended if I said no, so I smiled. I d love some. So she grabbed her tray of cookies, setting some on a plate and poured a cup of orange juice. Okay, come sit with me. Have a break, so we can chat. I was eating and chatting with Mrs Wood, when Oliver walked in. Mum, who are you talking too. He groaned when he saw my face and looked at his mum. What is he doing here again? Mrs Wood smiled. Oh, the poor love has been working on our plumbing for half an hour! Oliver frowned. Half an hour? What the hell have you been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. How Junk Food Can End Obesity In David Freedman s article, How Junk Food Can End Obesity (2013), he begins by discussing his endeavors to search for wholesome food. He continues to come across food items that claim to be healthy and void of processed junk, but all he finds are items high in calories or the expense is too much for an average American. He argues that wholesome foods are actually just as bad, if not even worse, than junk food and that the Big Food industry has the technology available to make food healthier, but still retain its appeal. Freedman mentions continuously throughout his article that Americans who are most at risk of becoming obese are those who cannot afford healthy foods, completely defeating the purpose of the wholefoods movement. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The solution, in his view, is to replace Big Food s engineered, edible evil through public education and regulation with fresh, unprocessed, local, seasonal, real food. (Freedman). Pollan has increased spite for nutritionism, which is the idea behind packing healthier ingredients into processed foods which is what Freedman is advocating for. Pollan s view is much the same as some scientists, food activists, nutritionists, and celebrity chefs. He has had such an influence that the Silicon Valley caters to the wholefoods movement and the progression to familiarizing the masses with simpler eating habits (Freedman). However, being an area full of technological endeavors, the Silicon Valley sees technology as the culprit as well. The New York Times Magazine s food writer, Mark Bittman also shares views with Pollan. In fact, Bittman has even written a cookbook on how to eat better. While most are more wholesome there are still few recipes that are high in fat. One of his recipes consists of corn being sautéed in bacon fat and then topped with bacon (Freedman). Freedman argues that technology would help revolutionize the American diet. He supports this with his experiences to different restaurants and how good the food was, how much it cost him, and then whether or not the food itself is actually good for the body. His experiences allows the reader to connect with Freedman, by showing that he also struggles with the never ending fight to eat ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Modern Transformers And Electric Power Systems Large power modern transformers are vital components and very expensive in electric power systems. Forthwith, it is very important to reduce the duration and frequency of unwanted outages that results in a high demand imposed on power transformer protection relays, this includes the requirements of dependability related with no mal operations, operating speed related with short fault clearing time to avoid extensive damage or to preserve power quality and power system stability and security related with no false tripping. Discrimination between inrush currents and internal faults has long been known as a challenging power transformer protection problem. Otherwise, inrush currents contain large second harmonic component compared to internal faults, conventional transformer protection are designed to achieve required discrimination by sensing that large second harmonic content [1]. The level of second harmonic component of the inrush current has been reduced due to improving in transformer core material and occur power system changes. Additionally, a large second harmonic can also be found in transformer internal fault currents if a shunt capacitor is connected to a transformer in a long extra high voltage transmission line. Therefore, the methods based on the measurement of the second harmonic are not sufficiently effective for differential protective relays [2]. Newly, several new protective schemes have been proposed to deal with the previous problem in large power ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Integration Of Airpower Airpower in the United States has had a contentious history and even today still raises a lot of debate.1 Leading up to the Second World War, airpower became a significant component of America s fighting force. America began to recognize that it had a superior air force and began integrating that technology as part of its military strategy but not before overcoming significant integration challenges. Airpower had a decisive effect on the way victory in war is declared. Japan s attack on Pearl Harbor and the U.S. Army s retaliation on Hiroshima and Nagasaki are testament to the effectiveness of the utilization of airpower assets. In this example, it was clear that airpower was to become the frontier of the future despite the difficulties in introducing this culture shift to the U.S. Army.2 During the run up to the Second World War and during the period of its occurrence till its end, there existed strong sentiments with regards to how effective airpower would be in the war. There were arguments regarding its effectiveness with detractors pointing out instances such as Combined Bomber Offensive in Europe and its failure to win the war. Another point of detraction was that war cannot be won without ground offensives that lead the way for the airpower assets to strike. In fact, airpower advantage was not as decisive as praised.3 However, the reasons for difficulty in integration were more than just those instances. A major talking point during this augmentation of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Blue Crab Research Paper The blue crab, Callinectes sapidus, is one of the most familiar inhabitants of marshes and waterways along the Atlantic and GMx coasts of North America. The abundance of blue crab larvae and juveniles make them important components of the diets of numerous species of fish, invertebrate and avian predators (Van Engel 1987, Guillory and Elliot 2001). As juveniles and adults, blue crabs act as generalist predators on benthic infauna and epifauna; consuming invertebrates, fish, and crustaceans (including other blue crabs) as well as plant and detrital materials (Darnell 1958, Alexander 1986, Meise and Stehlik 2003, Lipcius et al. 2007). It has been proposed that blue crabs are keystone species in the marsh because of their impact as predators ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
