In his essay titled The Land Ethic, Aldo Leopold argues that humans should extend
ethical behaviors to the natural environment or in other words, the land. The author
points out that, thus far, humans have only acted ethically towards one another.
However, he believes that it is time for humans also to start to treat the environment
with the same respect and dignity that we have for the members of our own species.
The author states that he is aware that we cannot entirely prevent utilizing natureas a
resource and a commodity. Nonetheless, he concludes that humans should have the
responsibility to take care of the environment and to assure its continued existence.
Leopold does not believe that humans are the inferior species, the conquerors of
the land as he puts it. Instead, he argues, humans are just plain citizens who simply
share the planet with millions of other species and who are a part of an intricate
and sophisticated system that makes life possible for all living beings.
Nonetheless, he believes that in order for people to realize this, and for them to
recognize nature as valuable and worth loving, they must be able to envision it as a
tangible object. To make this possible, Leopold creates the idea of The Land
Pyramid, whose purpose is to create a mental image of the environment as a complex

Muslims would more than likely suggest that having more than one wife is not

todays society. I learned that countless girls and boys have the same inner battles
and do not even realize it. The two songs I chose that best represent ideas of woman
and manhood are Unpretty, by TLCand Stan, by Eminem. I believe these songs
support many of the stereotypes portrayed in both of the class readings and hold
strong messages that can impact the views of girls and boys alike. They address
many struggles that teenagers today may be going through but afraid of speaking

the strategy that Adam chose because it shows that he truly cares about the
community and not just doing these nice activities to appear appealing to the
community. The important thing about this is that it obviously needs to have a
positive outcome. The first thing that we desired this approach to do was to gain the
support of the community leaders. These community leaders include natural leaders
within the community, Union Leaders, and politically active citizens. One example
of these community leaders was Lisa Boggs. She is a Civic Association Leader and
is on the Ward Committee. This was important because it helped us gain the support
of republicans who have not voted democrat in a very long time. While being
meaningfully involved in the community and gaining the trust of the community
leaders Adam did not ask for an endorsement until the very end. He did this on
purpose because he believed that you have to show you are willing to help them
before they will be ready to help you. In addition to showing his meaningful
involvement in the community when we went canvassing Adam insisted that we
leave a personal note on the literature that we left to show that we truly cared about
